She's stuck in the broken office elevator under the mistletoe—with the office flirt.Tolkien fan Amanda isn't just the most efficient worker at the advertising firm, she's also the iciest. At least toward Calvin the consultant and perennial player. He's sown so many wild oats, he could qualify for a farm loan.
So, right before Christmas, when they're stuck in the rickety elevator of Winters Plaza, and the mistletoe above them is demanding a connection, Amanda has no interest.
That is, until he mentions he is desperate for a wedding date—in New Zealand, where her favorite movies were filmed. Suddenly, being a fake girlfriend doesn't sound quite so bad.
Plus, it might give her a chance to give Calvin a little taste of his own medicine.
But, as the wedding party progresses, secrets about Calvin's real character come to light, and the ice queen just might thaw as their chemistry ignites.

Each book in the series is a standalone romance, but they do connect in the small-town world and can be best enjoyed in a “loop.” For example, book 1 leads to book 2, and so on, and at the end, book 10 loops back to book 1, with recurring characters.
In other words, a reader can start with any book, read the subsequent book, and then complete the loop.

If you are then Amanda and Calvin's story will definitely have you smiling, laughing, sighing, swooning and turning those pages very quickly!!!
This is the second time I've read this book. It was originally published as a novella in a multi-author novella collection but the author has expanded it and added it to her Christmas House Romances series! It's seriously so fun! I love how it turned out! I loved returning to Middle Earth, or should I say New Zealand, and watching these characters have so much fun in their charade at this destination wedding!
Amanda cracked me up in her antics! All of her costumes and her love of Lord of the Rings! It was so fun! My household are all big fans of The Lord of the Rings and watch the adaptations regularly. So I loved seeing how the author wove it throughout this story! So much fun!!!
Watching Amanda and Calvin to come to know each other better and to get rid of their misperceptions of each other made it even better! Their interactions brought lots of laughter but pull back those reservations and the chemistry starts to zing!!!
You can start with any book in this series but the author said that after you pick a book to start with, they make a big loop so you should go to the next in the series and loop back to the first book until you reach whichever book you started reading in the series. I've read almost all of them and have loved them all!!!
Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I originally read this as a novella called Elevator Pitch in the Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After anthology. So if the plot sounds familiar, that might be where you’ve seen it too.
The story has been lengthened and made into a Christmas story, with the same humor I originally enjoyed. Amanda hates the consultant, Calvin Turner, who breezes through her office flirting with all of the other women. She doesn’t want to be one of the many women who admire him, especially when he’s always making fun of the hobbit poster in her cubicle. But now he’s offering her a once in a lifetime opportunity: pretend to be his serious girlfriend and she can come with him to his best friend’s wedding in New Zealand. She can’t resist the opportunity to see where Lord of the Rings was filmed, but will she be able to keep resisting Calvin?
Amanda is bold, and unapologetic about her love of Lord of the Rings, sometimes just to embarrass Calvin, but it was hilarious! I loved her dedication to getting under his skin! I also loved that the wedding festivities included competitions. I’ve told my kids about this book. They would all love to play Bigger or Better, with the same results!
This book has it all: a sentient seeming elevator, a charming hero, a bold heroine, sweet kisses, and an adorable little sidekick.
I really enjoyed this story and the changes that were added to the original story the Elevator Pitch that was part of a Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After Anthology. I'd read that story before when the anthology first came out and I actually read it again the day before I started reading The Mistletoe Lift so the changes to the story were very evident to me. I loved how the Christmas theme was weaved into the story. Also there were some more details in many of the scenes.
Amanda is very aware of Calvin who has dated most of the ladies in her company. Most but not all because he has never shown her any interest except to make fun of her poster from Lord of the Rings that hangs on her wall. When they get stuck in the elevator she sees a text message from his friend challenging him to bring his girlfriend to the upcoming wedding in New Zealand right where the Lord of the Rings movies were made. Calvin needs to bring a girl or lose a bet with a nasty result. So he has nothing to lose by convincing Amanda to be his plus one.
The rest of this story is the trip to New Zealand with lots of surprises as Amanda and Calvin spend time together. There's lots of humor and lots revealed about each one of them. Would their fake relationship move into the real thing?
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.
The Mistletoe Lift: A Flirty Clean Christmas Romcom (Christmas House Romances Book 9) by Jennifer Griffith was once a novella in the Love, Laughter and Happily Ever anthology titled Elevator Lift. It has be revised, taking the story and rewriting it to have a Christmas them but even more a Hobbit theme. Having been to the Hobbit village in New Zealand I was pushing for Amanda to jump at the opportunity to go there. I understood her wariness concerning player, Calvin. However, I did wonder from the beginning if he wasn’t jus an innocent flirt not a true player.
Thank goodness for contrary elevators. A wonderful Christmas story to anytime of the year. You can count on this author to write a marvelous book that is clean, romantic and a delight to read
Amanda is annoyed by the office flirt Calvin and wants nothing to do with him, but when they get caught in the lift (and after some serious flirting on his part) she allows herself to help him win a bet by going on a trip with him to New Zealand. She’s a LOTR fan and the chance to go to Middle Earth is just too tempting to resist.
There are some super cute scenes where she tries to annoy him by dressing in cosplay outfits, there are experiences where they start to get to know one another and one scene where they discover something they have in more in common than either would have ever expected.
Cute dialogues, funny scenes, romantic kisses and poignant moments all make for a Christmas romcom that is sure to delight!
Everyone has a weakness. Little did Amanda know her "dreaded enemy" (otherwise known as Calvin) would create an opportunity for her to experience one of the locations of her favorite literary settings. It all started with her appreciation for Tolkien, and the rest was opportunity and luck! Charming story about the office flirt and the one woman who never gave him the time of day. A wager with a best friend finds Amelia being invited on a memorable trip. I loved the main characters and all their quirks, as well as the unique premise of the story. Delightful!!!
Amanda and Calvin have avoided each other at her place of business for a while. He's the office player, but he's never asked her out.
I liked the story. The characters are pretty well written. They both have issues that play into how they behave, and as they learn more about each other, a friendship starts to form... But, again, they both have issues.
Getting to their Happily Ever After is gonna take a lot of work... or maybe a grand gesture or two.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
I read the original novella, titled Elevator Pitch, when it was part of the Love, Laughter and Happily Ever After series. It has been a while since I read that one but as soon as I started reading this lengthened and revised into a Christmas version of the story, I recognized it so well. I loved this longer version allowing more time for the relationship to develop and I always love a Christmas romance. I read it in one sitting and it was a perfectly lovely way to spend an evening. And it kinda made me want to hold a kitty. Enjoyable Christmas story with fun characters. I loved the way they helped each other in the end.
The Mistletoe Lift is a charming, clean, fake relationship, romantic comedy. I love the banter between Calvin and Amanda and how they challenge each other to grow and overcome their issues. I also love that they were closet lovers of bad art. Amanda is over the top in her love for The Lord of the Rings. Both Calvin and Amada got a lot more than they expected from their trip to New Zealand. I can never put down one of Ms. Griffith’s books until I get to the end!
Getting stuck in an elevator with mistletoe hanging and a serial dater is not what Amanda calls a good thing. But when Calvin needs a fake date at a wedding in New Zealand, fan girl of Lord of the Rings, Amanda takes up the offer. Calvin shows a softer side and Amanda starts to trust him, but he can't quite be committed. After he realizes he wants to commit to her, he will have to pull off some miracles to get her back.
Amanda agrees to a fake romance for a free trip to New Zealand but Calvin gets way more then he bargained for. I enjoyed Amanda and all the fun and crazy things that she did to Calvin to embarrass him in front of his friend.
Amanda and Calvin have been working together, he is what she calls a player but never asking her out, just making comments about the decorations in her cubicle. This story had me laughing, swooning and wanting to keep reading. Such a fun read with a sweet HEA.
The Mistletoe Lift was such a fun, lighthearted book & a perfect Christmas read! Calvin is such a flirt, but the banter between him and Amanda is awesome! Bring in the Tolkien elves dresses!!
This one was different than the others in the series. Christmas wasn’t the forefront of the storyline, which was kinda nice!!! ◡̈ adorable plot. Sometimes a little too predictable where the last chapter of these books end with her being pregnant and then either married or living together.

Sometimes we don't know who a person really is until we fake date them. Amanda and Calvin are hilarious together. Loved the banter between them and the internal thoughts going on in their minds. Thought it was comical how they found out they had more in common than they thought and their perception of each other wasn't quite right. Great ending even with the angst.
