You can't help but fall in love with Lauren Blakely's latest must-read masterpiece, Sweet Sinful Nights, a smoldering, suspenseful, sweet, and oh-so-sinfully sexy second-chance romance that swallows your heart and soul. A spin-off of the oh-so-seductive Seductive Nights series, Sweet Sinful Nights is a story about hope, love, happiness, and that much-coveted happily ever after for two former lovers who drifted apart though they have still held on to each other's hearts. You'll want to devour the deliciously descriptive and decadent Sweet Sinful Nights quickly as it's pure addiction with masterful writing that grabs your emotions---happiness, angst, sadness, and anger---and bounces them around like a merry-go-round.

Like the Sweet Sinful Nights title, Lauren Blakely brings the perfect mix of sweet and sin to both the characters and this brilliant book that takes place in Sin City or Vegas. Younger brother, Brent, gives Clay some serious competition in the panty-melting man department. Speaking of panties, make sure you have a spare pair on hand because this book may melt yours right off.

Beautiful Shannon Paige-Prince, a former dancer, had the perfect relationship with hot and hilarious comedian and rising star, Brent Nichols. She was all set to marry the love of her life until a terrible fight tore them apart. Brent walked away from his happily ever after and has regretted his grave mistake ever since.

"He'd tried to move on from the biggest mistake of his life. Because she'd been right---she'd been absolutely right with her last words. Hardly a day went by when he didn't regret having walked away from being with her."

Flash forward ten years later and the former couple are living new lives: Shannon has a new name and new career as a dance company owner while Brent left the comedy circuit to become an owner of the hottest nightclubs across the globe. A chance encounter brings them together as they both have relocated to Vegas. Sparks ignite, unresolved feelings surface, and hope floats in the air, full of possibilities.

"They kissed like it was a first time, and a last time, and like it was all time. They kissed like two people who wanted to climb into each other's skin, to smash into the other person. There were no doubts. No questions. She had to feel everything he felt. She had to want a second chance too."

A happily ever after may still in the cards for this couple who may have once given up on each other. Though they can't deny or stop feeling the love that still flows between them like the air they breathe---not to mention the combustible chemistry where a mere touch ignites everything in their bodies. Brent gives Shannon hope, love, and a chance at finding much-needed happiness. She is his reason for existence. He's her knight in shining armor that helps erase her pain and replace it with pleasure, bringing light to her darkness from a painful past. That is if secrets and the past don't stop threatening to rip their new found happiness apart, and steal Brent and Shannon's well-deserved second chance.

I loved this book--my favorite of Lauren Blakely's brilliant books so far. Sweet Sinful Nights is crack for the book whore. I'm still nursing a book hangover from this addicting read, and can't wait for the next book in this sweet and sinful series!

Sweet Sinful Nights by Lauren Blakely

I'd like to first apologize to Jen McCoy for living under a rock. For the last year she has raved about Lauren Blakely and her hot dirty talking men. Why it took me this long to read one of her books, I have no answer. BUT!! I will say this!! I am going to read all her things!!!! And don't be jealous cause I get to read all these books for the first time. Yes. I understand that feeling!
So without having any backstories for the previous characters, I was a little concerned. But have no fear!! This is a new series. With mentions of past characters. So this setup was absolutely perfect for me!!
We first learn about Brent and Shannon. A glimpse into their love story. How sweet and explosive it was. Until life changing things happen. Ultimatums are made. Heated words. And one very heartbreaking end to an engagement.
Fast forward 10 years later. After having no communication in all these years. Ironically work is what brings them back together. Everything is still there for these two. The want. The need. The passion. But it never really ended during their 10 years apart. They are more mature and more certain of the things they want. One of them is hiding a secret. One that can rip them apart for good this time.
Only time will tell if these two can move on from the past. Because I don't do spoilers, I will leave it at that. What I will say is this, never have I read such a love story as this. The passion between Brent and Shannon is off the charts. Brent. Sweet, sweet Brent. The love that he has for Shannon, well, it's moving, beautiful, heartfelt. Real. It makes you believe in these two like they are real people. The sexy times between Brent and Shannon earns them a HOLY EFFEN HOTNESS!! Good lord, this is definitely a panty melter. Especially for a couple certain scenes that are my favorite things EVER!! This is one of the HOTTEST books that I have ever read!! And I've read a lot of books. Just sayin...
This is my first Lauren Blakely book, and most definitely won't be my last. Her writing is flawless, captivating, moving. She writes from the heart and you feel it like a shot through the heart. Right through your soul. That is what I felt while reading this. Thank you Miss Blakely for writing one of the most beautiful and scorching hot, love stories that I've had the honor of reading. I look forward to all your things!!!
If you have not yet 1-clicked this, please, do not waste a second more!

There’s a reason that Lauren Blakely is one of my favorite authors – she’s freaking amazing! Every book she writes is full of passion and emotion – and usually a dirty man! Brent Nichols does not disappoint in this arena! I loved that he was so freaking passionate about everything he does, and especially about Shannon… the one that got away. Ten years ago he totally screwed up and now he’s determined to make it right!

I can’t imagine what pining for someone for 10 years feel like – but both Brent and Shannon know exactly what that entails. Brent was a giant doucheface leaving things they way he did… and Shannon being the stubborn girl that she is, let it go too. Sometimes I think things happen for a reason though – and these two fiery love birds needed to grow, mature, make something of themselves before they were really ready for the passion that lived between them.

And let me tell you – HOLY FREAKING PASSION!! These two f*ck and fight and their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS! There’s also a 69 scene – which frankly can sometimes not come off well on the page – that is one of the HOTTEST I’ve ever read! I think you guys are going to need some left-handed time after that one, if you know what I mean!

As always, Lauren’s characters are full of depth and emotions – and she did a brilliant job of making Shannon and Brent come to life. I loved how each knew how to push the others buttons – both sexually and emotionally. It really made these two come to life. And something else Lauren always delivers on is a damn good plot! There are things in Shannon’s past that aren’t resolved and I have a sneaking suspicion these things are going to create quite the drama!

Taking the Seductive Nights Series and spinning it off into this new series featuring Shannon and her brothers is bloody brilliant! Each of her brothers seems so mysterious… I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them! Another 5 star brilliant read from Lauren!

There was nothing sinful about this book. Second chance romance that started from lack of communication. It was very vanilla & the bit about the gang and the heroine’s mother didn’t really make any sense to me. Maybe more will come about in the other books but for me the whole book was mostly meh! They did get their HEA.

There's something about Sweet Sinful Nights, the raunchy, suspenseful, deep first book in Lauren Blakely's new series, that's talking to me. And it's telling me to KEEP READING. Except I just read the last page and turned my Kindle off, and now I'm at a bit of a loss. Because I can't keep reading. It's over and I didn't want it to end...

After ten long years, seeing Shannon Paige-Prince again is like coming home for Brent Nichols. He let her go once before, and lost her for far too long. This time around, it's going to be different. He's going to be different. He just has to prove it to her.

Ten years should have been enough time for Shannon to protect her heart from Brent, from the bitter disappointment of watching him walk away. But clearly it wasn't, because from the moment she sees him again, her desire reignites. Stronger than ever.

It's sweet to be home in his arms, but her past and secrets have the potential to turn something sinfully pleasurable into another shattering heartbreak. She can see that he's different...but will the end result be?

Thank GOD this is a series, and that book two is only a few short months away. I'm not sure, with all of these engaging characters, that I could have been happy with just one story, even if it had been wrapped up with a neat, little bow. Ms. Blakely has teed up her new Sinful Nights series perfectly here, giving the reader a wonderful, hopeful, emotional book for Clay's baby brother, Brent and the girl he let get away, while introducing new characters and an overarching story that'll keep me coming back for more. And more. And more again.

There's such beauty in this second chance romance; in the easy humor, in the playful interactions which easily and believably morph into serious discussions, in the down-and-dirty sex, in the many sweet (and sinful) examples of love that are present here. And most particularly, in the hope that Ms. Blakely and her characters offer up -- hope that they can be better, hope that the past doesn't have to define them and their futures, hope that mistakes can be fixed and regrets forgotten.

Sweet Sinful Nights put me through my paces, absolutely. I wasn't expecting to cry but I was expecting to laugh; I did both. I wasn't expecting to spend the first handful of chapters frowning and aching but I was expecting to get to the ending with a smile. And yes, again, I did both.

And while I was expecting to want more from this series, I wasn't expecting to finish with a handful of questions, a strong desire to know Shannon's family better and an urge to tell Ms. Blakely off for making me wait for book two. Okay, I might have expected to mad about the waiting...but only because I knew from very early on that I wouldn't want to say goodbye to these characters. Not even for a little while. ~ Beth, 5 stars

Sweet Sinful Nights by Lauren Blakely is sweet, funny and sexy. All of the things we've come to expect from Lauren!

In this book we meet Brent and Shannon who, ten years after a major breakup, fate brings back together. What ensues is some smoking hot sexy times, some laugh-out-loud funny banter, and just a bit of mystery thrown in!

Brent's dedication to his work, his amazing love for Shannon and his always funny, carefree attitude sends him to the top of my book boyfriend list! I'm ready for more Lauren!! ❤️ ~ Heather, 4.5 stars

~~~
Holy Effin’ Hotness!! Lauren sure knows how to write some sexy, dirty, sinful scenes! But this story was so much more than that as well. It was the story of second chances and true love. And I loved every minute of it!
This is the story of Brent Nichols, Clay’s brother, who we met briefly before. He met his “one,” Shannon, when he was in college and thought for sure they would be together forever. However, when he made a stupid decision, their relationship ended. Ten years later, in a business encounter, the two meet again.
“Now, he had the opportunity for a second chance. The game was on, and he was going balls to the wall to win his woman back.”
The chemistry between these two was scorching and they could not keep their hands off one another! It was hot as hell, yet sweet at the same time. They were like magnets to each other.
“If I put my hand on you right now how hard would your dick be?” “Rock fucking hard,” he said in a growl.”
Brent and Shannon grew up completely different, but it was what worked so well for them. Brent was Shannon’s calm, her happy, her sunshine.
“Brent was her sweet, sinful addiction, and she rationalized that it was much healthier to need him than the bottle or a needle.”
I absolutely loved this story. There were so many emotions brought out while reading. Shannon has had a tough life and watching her relieve some of her past was heartbreaking. But Brent always seemed to be there with some laughs and dirty talk to make her feel better. I loved the family bond that Shannon had with her three brothers and grandmother, and I adored seeing Clay and Julia once again.
I can’t wait to read Ryan’s story next and continue to learn the mystery with Shannon’s mom. ~ Tiffany, 5 stars
Good Lord, this was actually terrible. If you liked this book, my review is probably not going to be for you. I am....in shock....over how well-loved this book is. So my review is not going to be apologetic or "it's not you, it's me". Rarely do I ever believe the book is actually the problem, but wow this was..... bad. I'm not judging people who love this book....I'm just....????? VERY CONFUSED.
Also, beware. I know I don't use explicit language in any of my reviews but this one might require it for you to understand everything. Fair warning.
First: what the HELL is up with this writing? I've heard so many good things only to be confused by her wording half the time, and laughing the other half. The way she described boobs at one point made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes. And the kisses were described the same every time: they alter the sun and moon and stars and make the universe expand and the earth turn on its axis???? Apparently. Thanks for telling me that. As if the earth doesn't turn on its axis without your lips touching gloriously? HAHA BYE.
There was also this annoying thing with laughter. ALL OF THE CHARACTERS CLUTCH THEIR BELLIES WHEN THEY LAUGH. YES, SHE USED "BELLY", TOO. At one point it said "___ clutched her belly and laughed." I laughed so hard here, too, because I imagined her clutching her "belly" with both hands and wide, possibly fearful eyes.....only to burst into laughter? What?! No. Make sure your verbs happen in the right order, please. Make sure you set up the scene right. Otherwise I think the character is about to have her appendix removed.
Those are just two examples, but the book was full of this shit.
Second, were these characters black and white cut outs taken from an adult coloring book??? LOL seriously guys. They were the same thing I've read in a hundred other books. Therefore, they were boring and all of their shining moments were in the throes of passion. I don't have time for this. Bye boi.
Third. Did I mention the sex was over the top? IT WAS CONSTANT, TOO. I don't care if this is a romance novel. You can have a plot, too, ya know. But hey, Christina Lauren, Robin York, and Sally Thorne have ruined me for all romance ever. And they should be the STANDARD. That level if talent should be the example.
Fourth: Because there was no room for plot amidst all the licking of lollipops and 69'ing and BJs (and don't forget the moaning about not being able to have sex for one reason or another lololol) the plot twists SUCKED when they could have been GREAT. But they SUCKED SO MUCH. The execution was terrible. Like..... Let me drop this big character secret (mid-orgasm, too! FOR EFFECT!) and then just explain it all in the next chapter rather than building any suspense whatsoever because why would I want to do that?
Like. Seriously. She tried to make it seem like the characters had to wait for things, when in reality everything came easy and there was lots of sex and tough things explained in like 2 paragraphs and then more sex and then maybe some flirting ? and then sex sEX SEEEEEXXXXXX (and the sky burns and stars explode and the earth SPINS WHAT because her orgasms were so fan-fucking-tastic) and then another 2 pages of explaining something about a character RATHER THAN LETTING ME DISCOVER IT FOR MYSELF.
It was rather exhausting, reading this book, waiting and hoping it would get better.
But at least I enjoyed the fuck out of laughing at it. I should probably be sorry, but after all of that? No. Not sorry at all.
In an attempt to explain to my besties what reading this book was like, I wrote this text:
book: the sun is bursting bc of this orgasm
me: ok
book: and the stars are aligning
me: ok?
book: and the moon is full
me: .....ok???
book: and the planets are exploding
me: ......?
book: and wormholes are being created
me: ?
book: and everyone within a thousand foot radius is suddenly horny bc of this orgasm
me: stfu
book: AND NOW THEY'RE ALL DOING IT IN THE STREETS
me: OK CAN WE NOT
book: AND GOD IS SMILING AT ALL THE GOOD THINGS HE CREATED
me: *shrieks*
book: all bc of one orgasm
me: can we go to the next paragraph yet?
book: sure
also book: also this next paragraph is them saying all that to each other out loud
me: *is dead*
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I think this is my third book so far by this author and I have enjoyed the ones I’ve read before.
I love second chances romance tropes, it offers promises of a good groveling, sexy and sparkling reconciliation, low drama and if we are lucky, a nice epilogue.
It was with these expectations in mind that I started Sweet Sinful Nights.
The prologue set the tone of Brent and Shannon’s explosive chemistry as they are on the verge of breaking up after an insensitive and selfish decision Brent made. He’s a wannabe comedian and accepted a one of a lifetime opportunity to work for a TV show without consulting his soon to be wife, Shannon. Shannon is a dancer, she lost her ability to get first roles or perform on stage because of a bad injury and tries to find a job as choreographer.
She had a proposition in New York, when Brent accepted an offer in LA… Brent gives her an ultimatum to follow him to LA, she refuses and this causes their break-up.
Fast forward 10 years later, Brent is now a successful club owner and Shannon the head of a dance company specialized in nightclubs performances. Upon their meeting chemistry rekindles and their trying to get to know one another again putting their mistakes in the past.
From the start I have to say that I never connected either with Shannon or Brent. I didn’t care they were breaking up, to me it felt impetuous and a bit over dramatized to flush down a relationship and a pending marriage over a misunderstanding… I felt like Shannon was set to break up with him, or vice versa, which left me with a manufactured set-up after taste…
Their reunion was nothing unexpected, they fell into each other’s arms again, lust damn it all. The sex scenes and tension were definitely what kept me reading, and essentially that’s what this book was about. Lauren Blakely knows how to warm a bedroom and the sex scenes delivered were really hot. Brent and Shannon try to give a real chance to their second time together, both trying to fix their past mistakes.There was some underlying and minor drama, nothing new, but I don’t think it was necessary to the story to build some angst over it.
I never connected with Brent, he struck me as the egoistical type from the start and I couldn’t get a real feel of his character. He had his sweet moments, yes he had this ‘commanding in the bedroom’ vibe we love in alpha males heroes, but I just couldn’t get attached to him.
It was a little bit the same with Shannon…
Overall it was a nice read, the plot was simple, Lauren’s Blakely agreeable writing made it easy to read through but my indifference for both leads made it hard for me to appreciate Sweet Sinful Nights more than I did.
With that being said, I wouldn’t be against reading the next book in the series, Shannon has some sexy brothers I’m dying to get to know better!
What a wonderful story! Sweet, loving and oh so sexy and hot! I loved it!
I loved Brent and Shannon! The details of their past, them reconnecting, and moving forward. It was laid out so well and I was pulled in from the beginning. Excellent details and pace. Brent and Shannon are both great characters. Loved Shannon and the strength she has had to have and loved learning all the ends and outs about her. Brent was so awesome, I loved his playful humor but even more I loved what a sweet, genuine man he was. I love the reconnection and forgiveness aspect of the story. It made for some really emotional, honest, and raw moments for Brent and Shannon. These two together had fantastic chemistry, that pull towards one another that makes for super hot times. To say they were on fire is an understatement!
A note about the hotness without giving anything away... There was a serious build to the main course. There was just so much passion, it was incredibly sensual, hot, and lust filled. When they finally getting together... just WOW! After reading some of the scenes I needed to get a glass of cold water because whew! It was way to hot (in a good way!)!
Shannon brothers were great and I loved meeting them. I hope they all get their own stories. I like how the other characters from other Lauren Blakely novels came into play as well.
There was a suspense element underlying it all that kept me in my toes and I can't wait to see where it goes. Yes, there is a cliffhanger but I feel it's a mild one that will lead into the next story. Shannon and Brent have a full story in this book with their happily ever after but I am excited to find out what will happen in the secondary story that's taking place.
This was an excellent read. Fantastic story, great pace, I was hooked from start to finish!
Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 3-3.5 stars
I'm such a sucker for second chance romances and this one really hit me in the feels. It's always hard to balance the separation and reunion in second chance romances and Lauren Blakely did it wonderfully for Brent and Shannon. Yes, the initial misunderstanding was a bit over the top, but it was really only the straw that broke the camel's back. At that point in their lives, they just weren't emotionally ready and mature enough to make things work long term. I appreciated that even though mistakes were made, they tried to prevent them from happening again and to show the other that they were all in this time around. The overall pacing of the story was a little slow, but I'm excited to learn more about the secondary characters, especially Mindy and the Sloan siblings. I really enjoyed the bit of suspense too regarding Shannon's parents and their tragic history. It will be interesting to see it all play out in the series.
The narration by Joe Arden and Andi Arndt was wonderful and they did a fantastic job bringing Brent and Shannon to life. The additional cameos by Teddy Hamilton, Sebastian York, Maxine Mitchell, Samantha Cooke, and Tim Paige were such a treat. No one does audio better than Lauren Blakely! I'm excited to listen to Ryan's story next.
Review by Natasha Gentile
This book, this book was hot. I was so excited when I found out she was writing this book. I wanted it unedited, I didn’t care, I just wanted it. Sadly she said I would have to wait. But let’s just say that the wait was so worth it.
She was the one who got away…
Brent Nichols was engaged to Shannon Paige. Their future already written in the stars, or at least traced.
They lived, happily in a small rinky dink apartment biding their time until they would make the move to New York, him to write comedy, hers to train dancers. It was the way it was always supposed to be, until he made the decision to change the plans on her, without asking.
He assumed she would follow, I mean she had to, they couldn’t be without each other that part was for sure. She was the beat to his heart, surly she wouldn’t say no.
“If you don’t go with me, there’s no point staying together.” He said, making his Hail Mary pass. He had to do something. He couldn’t lose her. He had to let her know his way was the only way for them.”
Ten years later, they had both moved on from the past. Brent became one of the most successful late night show writers, Shannon started her own business having her own dance troop to choreograph.
Brent got out of the writing business and got into the night club business. Now he’s knocking down doors. But then he comes face to face with the love of his life 10 years later. His mind starts wondering if you can go back again.
His pulse pounded.
His throat went dry.
The floor tilted and loomed closer. The glass walls zoomed in. He blinked.
He was seeing a mirage. Either that or he’d slipped back in time, because there was no other explanation.
After all those years, there she was, in the flesh.
And just like that she is back under his skin. She has been there, with him before and it ended with her heart being ripped from her chest. Learning to live without the one thing you need in order to breathe was the worse thing she could do, but she did it, and she wasn’t going back for more. Except the pull, it was stronger than her.
When she was near to him like that, she couldn’t think straight. She could only feel. And that was far too dangerous for her heart.
Nothing, nothing can be better than knowing that not only is he under your skin, but that you have weaved your way into his veins.
She crossed her legs, one bare-skinned calf sliding against the other. His breath hitched. Those legs. Those gorgeous, sexy legs. They were his downfall, his weakness, and his downfall, his weakness, and his complete obsession. They were an altar he’d pray at.
The pull to each other was so strong. He is more handsome than she ever imagined he would be. She is more beautiful than he remembered. It was like going home, they were always each other’s home.
He consumed her lips. He kissed her hard, and greedily, and the world around him turned black and small. It faded into a speck of nothingness because there was room for nothing else in his world but her.
She just can’t let him in, at least not fully. He can’t stop trying to win her back. He is fighting tooth and nail to make sure this time around he isn’t walking away from her. Except what happens when there is a secret from the past that is shown to you? Do you stay and fight or do you leave her in the cold sweet sinful night?
Lauren Blakely has done it again. She has started a new series that you will want to read. It is hot, it is sassy, it is heart breaking, it is a bit of a mystery. It is everything that you want in a book and more, and I want more so much more. I can’t wait for the rest of the books in the series.
Lauren Blakely. What a treasure she is!! I know that I can pick up any of her books and get swept away into a sexy, intense story that will have me sucked into the pages leaving me gasping for air at the end. Sweet Sinful Nights was no exception. I fell hard for this story. I had goosebumps and chills reading this romantically emotional story of Brent and Shannon, proving once again that Lauren Blakely knows how to write, not only heat (which she does very well) but heart! I binge read this story in one night and I can't wait for more in this series!
If you have read Lauren Blakely's Seductive Nights series you may recognize some of the characters in this book, but even if you have never read a single book by Ms. Blakely you can read Sweet Sinful Nights (the first in this new series) as a complete stand alone novel. Lauren Blakely does a wonderful job of weaving her books together so that if you have read her in the past you get pieces of formers characters to enjoy, but even if you pick up one book out of order you still can enjoy the story in your hands.
Sweet Sinful Nights is a second chance love story. Next to friends to lovers, this is my favorite of all the tropes out there. Second chance stories are tough to write (and read) with characters sometimes being bitter, or spiteful; the plot gets too angsty and characters buried in past hurts they can't let go of... none of that gets in the way in Sweet Sinful Nights, Brent and Shannon take this trope to a new level and it is a glorious ride!
Brent and Shannon were college sweethearts with a white hot connection that burned up the sheets and had lots of passion outside of the bedroom. When tough decisions are made and ultimatums are thrown down hearts are broken and ten years go by until they meet again. Man! Just writing about this book is taking me back to the intensity of the emotions Lauren infuses into this book when they meet up again after all that time! I won't spoil a thing but you really, REALLY want to read this book. The heart, the romance, the heat and the connection between Brent and Shannon spark right off the pages of Sweet Sinful Nights and creates a book I want to relive again and again. I can't wait for the rest of this series to come out! Lauren Blakely has always been a favorite of mine, but now she is a top tier Author for me!
If you want a book that will give you goosebumps with the romantic intensity that jumps off the page, then you NEED to 1-click Sweet Sinful Nights! Brent and Shannon's story kicks off what promises to be another AMAZING series by Lauren Blakely and you won't want to miss out!
A sweet, sexy and angsty romance.
Brent Nichols and Shannon Paige-Prince were sure they’d live happily ever after. But a country, an ocean, and too much work during the better part of a year took its toll on the young couple. After a night that was supposed to be a delightful surprise full of happiness went awry, the two parted ways and didn’t see or hear from each other for over a decade.
Brent and Shannon spent those ten years building their careers, him as a successful comedian turned profitable night club owner her as a thriving choreographer. While Shannon didn’t want anything to do with Brent, he knew down to his bones that she was THE ONE, the love of his life who got away. And when life serendipitously puts them in the same path with an opportune business deal, Brent doesn’t hesitate to put all his effort into getting her back. Can they overcome their past?
Second chance romances are very interesting to me. While they offer a deep connection between the hero and heroine, there’s always some angst and drama to get over and the bitter-sweet feeling of having to get over the time lost. I also love that the insta-lust between the characters, when well developed, doesn’t feel instant at all, but rather a delicious rekindling while they get to know each other again. Such is the case with My Sinful Nights and Shannon and Brent’s story.
My Sinful Nights is book #1 of the Sinful Men series by Lauren Blakely. It’s a sweet and sexy romance. It’s told from several points of view with a happy ending for the couple but introduction to the next book.
When it comes to creating combustible chemistry, Lauren Blakely is unmatched, building an intense physical and emotional connection between her protagonists from their first meeting and further strengthening that connection as the narrative progresses. Case in point: her newest release, Sweet Sinful Nights, which reunites former lovers, Brent and Shannon, after ten years apart. As a second chance romance, there’s a shared history between the couple, which is evident in every heated conversation and in the way they can’t help gravitate to each other. Uncontrollable passion, burning desire, undisguised yearning, and fiery anger – all of these ingredients combine to make a potent cocktail of chemistry and lust between Brent and Shannon, making Sweet Sinful Nights an unforgettable romantic read.
With Brent and Shannon’s romance being front and center, Sweet Sinful Nights is very much a character-driven story. The narrative switches perspectives between the duo, catching readers up on their past and their present, which finds them working together on a business venture. From the moment they see each other, the unresolved emotions between them – the anger, the regret, and the bitterness – reignite their considerable spark and stir up lingering feelings. I love that their chemistry seems to be fueled by their hot-headed tempers because, even while their past mistakes forms a barrier between them, their mutual attraction is overwhelming. The banter between them is flirtatious and suggestive, with an ever-present undercurrent of sexual tension. Then again, with Brent being the “bad boy of comedy” I would expect no less. Their back-and-forth, give-and-take rapport had me laughing aloud, swooning, and silently giving thanks for those dirty-talking Nichols brothers. If you thought Clay cornered the market on that count, just wait until you meet Brent.
While Brent’s quick-witted humor and effortless charm bring levity to the story, it is counterbalanced by Shannon’s mysterious past involving her family. Brent is refreshingly upfront about his intentions toward Shannon whereas she’s more closed off. I found Shannon to be an intriguing combination of strength and vulnerability, and the more her character is unraveled, the more I connected with where she’s coming from. It’s through Shannon that the book’s element of suspense is introduced, detailing the family drama that follows her and her three brothers. While there was just a taste of the suspense-filled plot that I assume will play out in future books, Sweet Sinful Nights sets up the backstory and, more importantly, introduces us to the attention-grabbing personalities of the Sloan brothers.
Shamelessly sexy, emotionally captivating, and just plain entertaining, Sweet Sinful Nights is everything you could want in a second chance romance. The writing is rich and vibrantly detailed, transmitting the reader into the fast-paced, high stakes setting of Las Vegas, which provides the perfect backdrop for Brent and Shannon’s reunion. Sweet Sinful Nights is the type of book that will put you through the emotional wringer, putting on your smile on your face one minute and have you tearing up the next. The narrative was incredibly sweet and undoubtedly sinful, delivering on the promise of its title and offering a tantalizing taste of what's sure to be a thrilling series following the Sloan siblings.
Story: 3.5 stars
I have a confession to make. I've never read a Lauren Blakely book. I know, I know, I'm ashamed of myself.
description
So when the author reached out to me to review one of her audio books, I jumped at the chance.
Brent and Shannon have the ideal relationship. They've been together for years, now engaged, with great career opportunities on the horizon. So what happens when those career opportunities may force distance between them? Brent takes a huge gamble with an ultimatum. Bad move boy. Strike one.
Fast forward to years later when the careers that drove them apart, bring them back together. Can they forgive each other and make up for lost time?
I'll be honest, I was surprised and impressed with how slow Shannon took things. If it was up to Brent, they'd be back in the sack on the first night. But Shannon's approach is more cautious, afraid of having her heart broken again. And I can't blame her. Brent repeatedly puts his foot in his mouth. Sure, there were times I was sympatheic to the blue balls he must be suffering from, but he kind of deserved it.
There are some cold moments between the two, but as you can guess from the title, there were some seriously hot ones too. I'll never think of the Bellagio fountain the same again.
description
This story flashes back to the past, shortly after their breakup. I wasn't a fan of how Shannon handled her surprise, not reaching out to Brent. But I was even less of a fan of how Brent reacted once finally learing the news from her. Strike two.
Does Brent get to Strike Three? I was almost running out of hope for him, but he does make up for another impulsive reaction to news. And he finally becomes the man that Shannon loved all those years ago. Maybe even a bit better. The way he handled the NY thing won him major bonus points.
Performance: 4 stars
I'm always a bit leery of a male narrator for a romance book, but I thought this one did a great job. It may have helped that the book is told in the third person, so he didn't have to make awful sounds imitating the female voice (this NEVER works with a male's deep voice, trust me on this). But this narrator not only had a sexy voice, but he kept me engaged throughout the reading.
Overall: 3.5 stars
While this book was my first book from this author, she'd definitely peaked my interest. There was an underlying plot theme regarding Shannon's Dad that was never fully resolved. Given that she has several brothers, who I'm guessing will get a book or two, I'm curious to see how that will play out in the rest of the series.
Another great one from the lovely Lauren Blakely! Sexy, emotional, heartwarming... just loved, loved, loved it! :)
This is a wonderful story of second chance love. This author continues to surprise me at how well she intertwines erotica with a heartwarming story that always manages to grab me from cover to cover. Her leading males are always so appealing and Brent is definitely no exception. I loved that he was a comedian, and charming, and handsome... and particularly good at learning from his past mistakes.
Shannon has a very sad back story but I loved that she didn't use her past as an excuse for moving forward and striving for success. I really liked and respected her character.
These two were in love when they were young and they were driven apart by decisions that they thought were important at the time. But now that they are older and have crossed paths again, life has taught them some valuable lessons that are allowing them to see each other in a new light. They've both changed and are ready to give love another go.
Brent was determined to show the one true love of his life that he was a changed man. And, I loved how they slowly came back together. Sexual tension was high in this book, but I appreciated that even though they were still insanely attracted to each other they had the common sense to realize that they had to move past the past first.
Each time I read a Lauren Blakely book I think to myself, at some point she's going to write something I don't like! :) But so far that has not happened. She continues to entertain me with her likable couples and engaging storylines. Can't wait to see what she gives us next! She is still sitting in the top spot right now as my favorite erotica author.
Loved this book... and I highly recommend this author for fans of feel good erotica.
Brent Nichols and Shannon Paige-Prince were college sweethearts, deeply in love and set out to make it in their respective careers. When Brent gets the comedic job of a lifetime in LA and Shannon gets a dance opportunity in New York, they push each other away. Shannon feels that Brent chose his career over her and decides to walk away and break off their engagement.
10 years later Brent now owns the hottest chain of nightclubs in Vegas and Shannon, who is now Shay Sloan, is a top-sought out choreographer. Brent searches for Shannon on social media, but not knowing she changed her name, never finds her. Eventually living in the same city, they run into each other during a business deal that has them working together and they begin what they do best.......
Fighting and fucking.
There's a lot of bickering and fighting, but Brent is determined to get back in Shannon's good graces. Neither have forgotten about the other and neither have had any other "great loves" in the 10 years they've been apart. They start dating again but there's a lot of history dragging up from the past that stalls their progress.
I was disappointed that the first actual sex scene wasn't until after the halfway mark, but in typical Lauren Blakely fashion, it was worth the wait. The dirty talking is equal between both Brent and Shannon, and I appreciated that Shannon knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to say it.
I thought this was a complete standalone but there were several unresolved issues that I assume will carry on into the next installment, featuring Ryan, one of Shannon's brothers.
Overall, this book delivered on a short, steamy, HEA read as all of Lauren Blakely's books do. I am ready for the next book in the series to see all of the issues resolved.
After reading Lauren Blakely's previous series', I was looking forward to starting this new one and I have to say, I loved Shannon and Brent's story of second chance love. The characters were easy to fall in love with, the story was easy to follow and it kept my interest throughout. It was another brilliant start to a new series that left wanting more.
They kissed like it was a first time, and a last time, and like it was all time. They kissed like two people who wanted to climb into each other's skin, to smash into the other person. There were no doubts. No questions. She had to feel everything he felt. She had to want a second chance, too.
Shannon and Brent were once college sweethearts who were madly in love but sadly things didn't work out for the couple first time around. Ten years had passed and the couple were reunited. Once Shannon and Brent were together again it was like they had never been apart. The last ten years fell away with the blink of an eye and the couple's feelings for each other were reignited. But so much had happened in the time that they were apart. Would it be that easy to just pick up where they left things so long ago? So many things needed to be forgiven and forgotten between the couple. Shannon and Brent's second chance of love was not going to happen easily.
Now, he had the the opportunity for a second chance. The game was on, and he was going balls to the wall to win his woman back.
Brent and Shannon were both fabulous characters, I enjoyed watching the couple rebuilding their relationship. They were both so sweet and funny together and made such a cute couple. Brent was determined not to make the same mistakes that he had in the past and he was going to do anything to make Shannon his girl for good. The couple's love for one another had never really gone away so it wasn't long before Shannon and Brent were inseparable, grabbing every spare moment they could to see each other again. Not only were Shannon and Brent cute together but they also made red hot lovers. Some of the nookie that this pair got up to had me running for a cold shower!! Lauren always writes smokin' hot sex scenes and once again, she did not disappoint!!
I've fucked a comedian, and a big man on campus, but never this gorgeous man in a suit.
So fuck me here on your desk as the man you are now.
Overall this was a good story that I enjoyed but there was one thing that I was disappointed with. I felt that the story came to an end so quickly and left me with some unanswered questions. I am aware that this is a series but I expected everything that involved Shannon and Brent to be wrapped up in this book but I now realise that I will need to wait for the next book to get some answers. I am assuming that this plot will run throughout the series as the next book involves Shannon's brother so I am looking forward to reading that one and also catching up with Shannon and Brett because I really want to see what their future holds. One thing I love about Lauren Blakely's book is how her characters are interwoven between the series'. I got a few glimpses of Julia and Clay in this book, I loved getting a chance to see how they were doing. Whether you a fan of Lauren Blakely or a newbie to this author, if you enjoy second chance romance, this is well worth the read.
Sweet Sinful Nights is one of those books that pull you in like an unbelievable and unforgiving riptide - taking over your body, your mind, making you blind to the fact that there is actual real life outside of these pages. Lauren Blakely continues to put me under her spell, pulling me under, until there is nothing left but her wonderful characters and her captivating and emotional storylines. I completely immersed myself into this powerful, second chance love story. I loved every single minute of it!
Seductive, Sinful, and Sexy with a dash of Suspense! A story that brought out all the feels - from heartbroken and breathless - to hot and bothered - to all warm and fuzzy! I am, and always will be a huge fan of Ms. Blakely's writing. I'm addicted and I never want it to end!
Ten years ago, they had it all. They thought they were unbreakable. A few choice words - a career choice that broke them apart - an ultimatum cast in the heat of the moment...regret consumes them. Even though they were apart, they never were off of each other's minds. When they are thrust together years later, the fire, the emotions, the yearning comes tumbling forward. Brent and Shannon are not the same people that they once were. The past has hardened both of their hearts. Yes, they are successful people, but something has always been missing. Their puzzle has never been completed. A flicker of lust burns brighter with every day they see each other. They learn to trust one another again, slowly breaking down the concrete structure that has surrounded their hearts. But all too soon, secrets threaten to tear them apart and one of them might be forced to walk away once again.
This is a love story that anchored me emotionally with addictive angst and heartbreak. Blakely continues to give us stories that consumes us, stories that make us feel on every possible level. She brings the HEAT. She brings the SWEET. She brings the SUSPENSE. She constantly gives her all in these stories and it shows time and time again. Loyal readers will ADORE Brent and Shannon's romance, and new readers will discover why Blakely continues to be one of my favorite erotic romance authors out there today!
Sweet Sinful Nights by Lauren Blakely is a second chance love story that ends in a HEA. It DOES have a continuing story line, and each following book in the series deals with a different couple.
Sexy slow-paced and low-angst second chance romance.
Its been a while that I've felt such an intense connection in a contemporary romance between h/H. You never doubted they were the one for each other. H was really crazy about h.
Both are normal people, the h has had a few hard knocks in her life, the H - who is kind of in between alpha and beta - has had a normal happy life. So when difficulty hits them H doesn't know how to handle it and is immature /mouths off a couple of times. The first time causes their initial break up, the second time he mans up. The way the h/H fought was also cute, they both have short fuses and bicker about the silliest stuff but are quick to apologise and make up:)
The sex was so steamy and sensual!! The pacing could have improved, I know the H said he wanted to take it slow, but I wanted it all wrapped with a bow at the earliest, I felt it dragged a bit at the end.
An overall 3.75 stars!!
This was book 1 in the "Sinful Men" series. Shannon believed that the love she shared with Brent was strong enough to survive the physical distance between them and their careers until her attempt to show him how much she care didn't go so well it would be a decade before fate would bring them together. When his company hires a mysterious woman with a brand new name to handle a critical project Brent comes face to face with the woman who got away. This was a good read and listen these two had some really hot chemistry and the sex scenes were hot. This was a good read with no errors in grammar or spelling. I Loved the narrators. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in this series.
~ 5 Sinful Stars ~
What can I say…Lauren Blakely is AMAZING!!! She has a way of creating a story that is not only hot and steamy, but also a wonderful story. Her books just suck me in and keep me interested all the way through. I just knew that anyone related to Clay Nichols was going to be swoon worthy and Brent Nichols didn't disappoint!!!!
Sweet Sinful Nights is the first book in a spin-off series from Lauren's Seductive Nights series. I will say that this book had a lot to live up to following the Seductive Nights Series and Clay Nichols….I absolutely LOVED that series and all the characters. Well she is off to a great start with this new series. Brent definitely lived up to the Nichols name. What I did find different with this book was that there wasn't as much sex in this book. Brent and Shannon's story was more of a finding each other again and each of them redeeming themselves. Now don't get me wrong….there was definitely some major steam in this book, but it wasn't a primary focus in this story like in her Seductive Nights series. I was a little disappointed with that, but it by no means took away from my enjoyment of this book and these characters.
Sweet Sinful Nights is a sexy, suspenseful, swoony second chance love story between Brent and Shannon. Brent is Clay's brother and Shannon is the girl he was engaged to back in college. The story starts out with Brent and Shannon in college and happily in love and chasing after their dreams. When one fatal decision on Brent's part separates these two lovers for 10 years. Fast forward to the present time and 10 years have passed. Brent has never forgotten Shannon but had no way of contacting her….that is until he goes to a business meeting with someone named Shay Sloan. Low and behold Shay is Shannon and these two are thrust back into all the past hurt and love they shared. This book is a journey of love, hope, happiness and the ever elusive HEA. I loved watching these two open themselves up again and learning to love and trust each other.
But this book is more than just their journey to a HEA. Lauren has added the element of suspense built off of something that happened in the past with Shannon's parents. This book only briefly touched on the suspenseful part of the storyline, I am hoping we get even more with Ryan's story….Sinful Desire!!!
This book is just as sinful, sexy and addicting as the Seductive Nights series and I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the books. Sweet Sinful Nights is a Standalone, second chance love story with a HEA. I do believe that even though each of the books in this series will be about a different couple, I have a feeling the storyline will be intertwined and that these books should be read in order!!
As always…I would 100% recommend this book to everyone. It has a little bit of everything to make any reader happy. Plus it is a Lauren Blakely book….you really can't go wrong when picking up a book by this author!!!
What a beautiful beginning to this revamped second chance romance. Brent and Shannon are trying to work a bi-continental romance, which isn’t easy. Both are working jobs in their dream professions, and making time for each other proves difficult. When Shannon decides fly from London to surprise Brent, she gets a surprise of her own and their relationship abruptly ends.
Ten years later, Brent and Shannon’s paths cross again. Both very successful in their professions, can they let go of the past and move forward? Shannon has her family issues, and Brent was always there for her when she needed him. Shannon also has very protective brothers, and Brent will need to deal with them if he has any chance of another shot at love. I love all her brothers, and you’ll get their stories in this series.
Andi Arndt is wonderful as usual, and Joe Arden owns this role! His narration of Brent Nichols—hot brother of Clay Nichols—is absolutely amazing. You feel all of his emotions regarding Shan, the love of his life. And his dirty talking game is off the charts!
I liked it. This was an easy read with lots of steam and some banter - you know, my favorite kind.
I will admit, I'll probably read book two, but not to find out more about her mom. I don't even like her mom's character. Honestly, I wish that story line weren't going to be played out in the next books. *shrugs*
DNF @ 27%.
Was looking for an alpha possessive H and, instead, the H was a comedian. Yep, a comedian. The h was a self-absorbed twit. At one point, the H texts the h and asks "Can I see you?" The h responds with "I don't know, can you?" Then he replies with "May I see you?" How freaking stupid is that? I would HATE if someone did that to me.
How have I not read this series yet?
Sweet Sinful Nights was such a fun book! In it, you will meet Shannon and Brent. Their relationship was a bit weird for me in the beginning. It definitely reminded me of a past relationship as well. Guy gets "dream" job and just expects the girl to drop everything and go with. Then it seems to be rather impossible for him to imagine that she had her own dreams or job lined up. Yikes - the horror!
So, yeah, you called it - they broke up and went their separate ways. It wouldn't be wrong of you to assume that I didn't like Brent at that moment. He was acting like a big douche canoe and if they ever meet again... well, I hope he grovels. Forever.
Luckily for me, he did but I kind of wanted more. Shannon was my girl and I was so proud of her. Yet, when they did get back together I definitely enjoyed all the fireworks that came with it. Their romance was something special because of their amazing chemistry. Heck, even the ending was cute.
Need more from this series and can't wait to dive into the next book!
