I've always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I'm working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.
I'm a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This is a story I've been waiting for. Ms. Rivers has done an excellent job of taking a character who was portrayed as villianious and morphed her into someone the reader roots for.
Mending Scars brings resolution for both Dacia and Preston as well a few others living in Edenton.
I can't wait to find out what's next for the residents of this otherwordly friendly town.
4.5*s Review posted here... http://bookpassionforlife.blogspot.co... Mending Scars had been a book that I had been waiting for featuring two of the most prominent characters from Edenton – Preston and Dacia. To be honest, I didn’t see them working out because Preston was the fun loving playboy type who didn’t really do long term and we know that he had his heart broken a couple of books back by Amethyst and Jamie. Dacia was the resident psycho b***h who thought she could have any man she desired and woe betide any woman who would stand in her way, she’s spoilt, she’s selfish, she’s manipulative …..oh and she nearly killed him…. Great start! So you can imagine my surprise at this latest coupling. However, I may have been too quick to judge both of them as their scars are laid open for all too see as they help each other mend. So, we learn a lot about these two throughout the book that really changes the way I viewed them – Dacia especially. Throughout the series we have seen some her displays towards the women she feels threatened by but we also saw glimpses of the real Dacia shine through now and again in her willingness to help in a bad situation or try to do the right thing - but with her history, people find it hard to believe in her and also she has a tendency to mess things up or be in the place where everything goes down. What we don’t know is that most of it is a façade, people constantly want to use her, abuse her and generally treat her like crap – including a self centred mother and a monstrous father – she was brought up not to feel, told that she was worthless so that now, she feels unlovable. It’s hard for her to believe that Preston wants anything more than a fling with her because let’s face it – his reputation precedes him too. When they both realise that they share a bond that is much deeper, they are willing to explore it but both of their pasts will get in the way. I ended up really liking these two as a couple and it was a pleasant surprise, they did have a connection and they did have chemistry – so much in fact that they couldn’t keep their hands of each other. I loved how Dacia’s vulnerability shone through, I thought she came across as very genuine and definitely scarred by others. I also didn’t realise that Preston had issues too, he comes across as very cocky and confident but we get to see a total different side to him as well. They steamed the pages up with their sexytimes as they tried to identify what they had and they did a good job of showing each other their feelings rather than saying it. The storyline was great – as always! It crosses over from the Others of Seattle series and connects them both well. Remus (Dacia’s father) is the enemy and most wanted for what they uncovered about him and if you thought his depravity was shown in previous books then you’re in for an eye opener when they start revealing more about him. A lot of the story is devoted to the search for him, there are a lot of near misses and scheming which brings a few of our favourite characters together in the mission to find him which was so good to read and keeps in with the family/community feel of the series. Preston also has ‘Daddy’ issues too as it’s finally revealed who his father actually is and we also find out how and why it was a secret – I have to say, I loved this part! I love a secret child plotline and would really like to follow that thread more now that things are out in the open. I was really satisfied with where the story went overall, there are a couple of bad guys that popped up in this that I would like to know more about too but as usual this book was full of everything you need for a good paranormal romance/UF, continuing the quality of the series that are so easy to read and what better way to pass a few hours than with the ‘Others of Edenton’……. I wonder who’s next?
Dacia was a total nut case in the stories leading up to this one, we got a few brief glimpses that maybe there was a decent person hiding inside her in, but then her inner bitch would come out and screw things up again. Preston was moping the last time we saw him because he couldn’t have who wanted because he didn’t want her when he could have her, make sense? I sort of felt like he saw everyone else pairing up and he was upset because he was alone.
So what happens when you put these two together? Fireworks! I loved this story! I can think of at least 3 times during the story where I found myself tearing up. Dacia is an emotional mess, years of mental abuse by her Father really messed with her mind and self worth and Ms. Rivers does a beautiful job of showing us her scars and bringing us along as Preston’s love helps her to heal. Preston really steps up here and show the sensitive and caring person he has been hiding under a cocky persona.
Together they make a wonderful team as they track down Dacia’s evil Father and attempt to bring him to justice or the abyss. Toryn is back and an important part of this story. I was so glad that in this installment he is the warrior I wanted him to be in Storm Mistress.
Fallon is still my favorite “Other”, however this story touched my heart more than all the rest. I can’t wait to see where Ms. Rivers takes us next.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This is the fifth in a series, and only if you have read the previous books will you realise how huge this story is. Dacia's behaviour in the past has been beyond belief at times, and yet there have been hints, so this was a very welcome book.
Even though I have read these books over the last year, and read many hundreds in between, I can slot straight back into Edenton as if I never left. That is extremely rare in my experience. I may mix up a power, but otherwise, it's as if they just went into limbo between reads. I become entirely immersed in the fantasy world, and ever more envious of the passion and chemistry between the leads. Magic certainly results in steamy encounters! Preston deserved his story being told, as did Dacia, so this is another firm favourite from the series.
I have been reading this series from the beginning, and I will say this.... Every book I read gets better and better! Dacia has always been the "bad" girl and the one people avoid like the plaque. Now it's her turn to find a piece of happiness.
Preston is a mage and he knows that she is meant for him. He just has to convince her. He father who has been the evil guy from the beginning is trying to use her for his plans, and she wants nothing to do with him. Preston is trying to put him away and doesn't want this to interfere with he and Dacia.
This whole book made me a ball of nerves, but in a good way! I was waiting for the next page to see what was coming up! I love to see people change for the better, and Dacia has done a lot of changing! You simply MUST read this book if you are a fan of others. I loved it! ~Dowie
Another awesome Others of Edenton. This booked flowed seamlessly from the last one in the series. This series is so the author just sucks you right into their lives. I love it. If you can't tell I love this series and author. Preston and Dacia need each other. I loved how their friends and family helped them with her father. There were a lot of secrets that needed to come out and I was glad when they did. A few of the words made me laugh out loud, twat knocker and douche nozzle (two awesome words) I also loved it when her father was called a twizzler stick monster. I would recommend this series and author to anyone who loves paranormal romance. This author does have a contemporary romance out now which is fabulous too.
Sometimes words aren't enough for Dacia so Preston has to let his body do the talking, "that's not a problem for me. I want you, not what you are." He shifted his hips, pressing his straining length against her, proving he wanted her again." Preston is a man and he can only take so much of Dacia tempting him, "you being nude in front of me is a recipe for a smoking time." He's the type of man you want waking up beside you he's caring and likes to take care of his woman, "doesn't make it any easier." He sighed and took the loofah from her. "I'm supposed to be cleaning you, not the other way around." Although I loved the other books in this series this one was my favorite I had been waiting for Preston to get a book for what seems like a damn eternity.

In the ever changing landscape that is Endton there are characters you love to hate, or at least their were characters like that for me. Ms. Rivers brings one of them to the forefront. Danica! And what a story she has. I literally use to seeth that she always got away with things in the past how they were over looked or excused away. Now I am kicking myself in the ass for not giving her a chance. Between the explosive sex scenes and the emotional ones Rivers is evolving this world more and more.
This is the fifth installment of the Others of Edenton Series. Preston is a playboy who is ready to settle down with Daria. Every male in Daria's life have disappointed her. She just wanted to be loved, but all the wrong males failed and were wrong for her. Now she is scared and don't know what she had with Preston is real. As danger approaches, Daria has to make a strong decision. It was wonderful to see the softer side of Preston and give chase of Daria. The chemistry between them is explosive. I can't get enough of Ms. River's books. I received this complimentary book in exchange for an honest review. (LOP or Lovers of Paranormal on Goodreads)
Winning Dacia will be a uphill battle for Preston but he’s prepared to do what it takes hopefully before Dacia’s father can drive them apart…permanently in this thrilling paranormal romance. I have to say that this series just keeps getting better and better with every story and this one had me completely enthralled from beginning to end. And wow, I love the vivid image of Dacia’s tattoo that the author provided but hey I want to know what Preston decided on…I know he had to get one.
OMG, I totally loved this book. Brandy L. Rivers has done an awesome job with this latest book. It moved along at a wonderful pace from beginning to end, has amazing characters that you will fall in love with and a story that will keep you interested and entertained from the very beginning all the way to the end. This is a must read, there is no doubt about it.
3 1/2 - more sex and less plot than the other books, imo.
WARNING - ENTIRE PLOT SUMMARY AHEAD (used for me to keep track of series events) REALLY - DON'T READ THIS; IT SUMMARIZES BOOK.
Dacia forgiven for being such a stalker in previous books. Preston not scorned for being such a man-whore previously. He even mentions the scar on his thigh that Fallon gave him when tattooing and he got obnoxious, and that he forgave her for it.
D dad Remus really evil, into rape, torture. Had kidnapped, tortured many of the female characters. Never raped D, but forced her to watch tortures. Remus had signed contract to give D to evil dragon Gebiet.
D has scar on her face that P gave her when she was under SStalker control. D aunt is queen of Air kingdom in Faerie.
D/P form mate bond. Not possible for anyone except fae. But, surprise - P is 1/2 mage, 1/2 fae (actually more fae cuz mom Priscilla part fae. ) Dad Toryn didn't know about him. Silver Council didn't know cuz being 1/2 human was bad enough. Toryn mated to Princess Isadora, who Remus also wants. T is fire fae, so P has fire powers, dissolves into smoke.
Lincoln - in love with vamp Victoria. L gives his house to Dracia bro Dane and his mate . L needs to move to get away from mom's ghost. Buys house next to Victoria.
Remus critically injured. Paineater Jayde sort of heals him, but helps in his capture. Captured again, finally killed by Toryn after Remus injures P and D heals him.
HEA.

I receive a copy of this book for and honest review.
I was so excited for this one to finally be released. I have been waiting for Preston to get his HEA forever is seems like. You see he has been my favorite for a while and to see him go through the series and not have his HEA has been heartbreaking for me. I have to say when I found out that he had a thing for Dacia the “bad girl” I was not that excited. I was willing to give her a chance because of the small changes she was making but I wasn’t 100%.
Dacia has never been put first by anyone in her life not by her mother and defiantly not her Father. The only time her father even had time for her was when he need her for something that benefited him in some way otherwise she was useless to him. She felt like everyone in the town didn’t like her because of how she treated everyone in the past and because of whom her father was. Just to hear her back story and how her dad treated her broke my heart. How can a father treat their own daughter that way? When her father stirs up trouble in the town Dacia proves that she is not just the Prada wearing trouble maker the town has known in the past but she was just as strong as any of the other females in the series. I love that even though everything she went through it didn’t break her but made her stronger.
Preston was always the cocky and confident one but to see him pursue Dacia and pursue her hard was heartwarming. She never had anyone want her or fight for her before. Preston was determined to show her she was meant for him and she was his. I loved watching all the things he did for her to show her he loved her to put her first and to fight for her. I also enjoyed the conversations between Preston and Amethyst, Dacia and Fallon, Dacia and Dean, and Dacia and Amethyst when they were getting advice or just talking about the other. I also enjoyed Preston’s back story and learning his secrets. Man were those good ones too, never saw those coming.
This is one of my favorite paranormal series. There is so much going on in here I cannot even begin to know where to start. There is the love story with Preston and Dacia that is great. I mean really who do you know that can take a person that you don’t really care for and make her a favorite that you understand and have compassion for by the end. There were times when I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. Oh my goodness and there was a time I was yelling, yes yelling, at my ereader “NO NO NO, this cannot be happening not now this is not how this is going to end IT CANNOT go this way!!” oh and trust me when you get here you will know this scene even had Robert on his knees. The fighting scenes once again in Brandy fashion are wonderfully written I felt like I was right there in the mix watching it as everything was happening. I am so ready for the next book already. I know who I hope it is but I’ll wait and see if it will be who I would like.
Some of my Favorites:
“I told you, and I’ll keep telling you, it’s you I want to get to know, you I want to please, only you.” He brushed his knuckle down the faint scar on her cheek. The line ran from just below the inner corner of her eye, down to the corner of her jaw. She flinched away, covering that side of her face. The hope died as her gaze went stony. “Because you feel sorry for me. I don’t need your pity.” “No, fuck not because of that! Yes, I’m sorry I put that mark there. But listen closely, that scar isn’t what I see when I close my eyes. What I see is the feisty woman who holds my interest for a laundry list of reasons. I want to learn everything about you.”
“Robert and I were instant friends, no matter how different we were. The first day of academy, we clicked. He’s the refined and reserved on, while I was the smartass and class clown. We balanced each other well.” ~Preston
“I’m not like Kurtis, or anyone you’re thinking about. I’m not. I’m not going to throw you away or take you for granted because you admit you feel something. So let’s make a pact.” He gave her a cheesy smile. “Until we’re sure what we feel, let’s not say it. We’ll prove our feelings with actions, not words. Maybe by the time you’re ready to define what’s between us, you’ll believe me.” ~ Preston “This is why he makes a great partner. Funny, Liz is the same way. Makes me stop and look at things differently.” ~Robert
This is the fifth book in the Others of Edenton series. I really enjoyed it!
Dacia is a character that has grown through this series. In 'In Too Deep' she came across as needy, always chasing after men like Brody or Hayden, which made me feel sorry for her. However, as the story arc has progressed, I have found I like her a lot more. Her attitude has mellowed and she is not as catty towards the other characters. She is attracted to Preston but has been deeply scarred emotionally by her father, Remus or Aeremaius, as well as physically by Preston when she was possessed by Izackarus. Can Preston gain her trust long enough to win her heart?
Preston Emrys is a wonderful character, whom I have gotten to know in cameo's through the first few books of the series. I wasn't sure I liked him at first, but as I got to know him better in Falling Into Place through flash backs, I began to like him more. I am glad to now read his story. He is an enforcer with the Silver Council, the "police force" for the Others and has the ability to track the essence of the various supernatural beings. However, the mage is now determined to track and capture the heart of Dacia. As danger in the form of Dacia's father threatens to tear their relationship apart, he finds himself confronting new abilities and a father who had no idea he even existed.
I have been wanting to continue reading this series for quite some time. I started reading this story as soon as I could and was quickly hooked. I found myself thrust back into the lives of those living in Edenton. The story is told mostly through the eyes of Preston and Dacia, though other characters have a say too. This gave me the ability to see what they were thinking or feeling. It was wonderful to meet the residents of Edenton again, as well as Toryn and Isadora in Seattle, they felt like old friends. The characters themselves felt lifelike and likable, though I love to hate Remus. He may be a fae, but his sadistic tendencies turned my stomach. He has no concept of love or compassion.
The story is a mix of romance, magic and danger, and takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. There are some steamy bedroom scenes, which were very descriptive and explicit. There are several twists and turns in the plot that surprised me, though some scenes were slightly disappointing; I had hoped for a bit more action in the fight scenes for instance. Having said that, I love the description of a tattoo that Dacia has done. However, I'm too much of a chicken to go under the needle myself, even though the description made me want to even though there's no Fallon to make it come alive. I was, however, extremely disappointed to reach the end of the book. It felt like I'd only just started reading and then it finished! But, having said that, I raced through the pages as I was completely gripped by the story. Though this book does not finish on a cliffhanger, it left me looking forward to continuing the series with Light In Darkness to find out what happens next.
Brandy L. Rivers has written an entertaining paranormal romance series. I love her fast paced writing style, and the flow is wonderful. Her characters are lifelike and likable. With her ability to write in both the paranormal and contemporary romance genres, she is one of my go to authors when I'm in the mood for a sexy read.
Due to explicit scenes of a sexual nature, as well as use of bad language, I do not recommend this book to readers under the age of 18. However, I do recommend this book if you love hot erotic paranormal romances full of sexy men and determined women. - Lynn Worton
Ever since the first time I read a book by Brandy L. Rivers, I fell in love with her writing. The stories have always had a smooth flow that’s allowed me to fully connect with the plot line and all the characters. I’ve always been fully intrigued by the developments made throughout her books and honestly, I’ve never felt “let down”. Brandy quickly became one of my favorite authors and it’s safe to say that I will continue to read anything she writes, regardless of the genre – because yes, she not only writes amazing Paranormal Romances, but Contemporary Romances too (so far).
Mending Scars was yet another amazing installment in the Others of Edenton Series. While this was book 5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I always recommend reading books in order because you will always have a deeper connection to the characters and the storyline, but even if you haven’t read books .5 – 4, you will still be able to thoroughly enjoy this one. At least, I know I did and I’ve only read book 1: In Too Deep prior to this one. I will be going back and reading them all, though! I just LOVE these characters!
In Mending Scars, we got Dacia and Preston’s story. These two characters had a not-so-positive/friendly past. You can immediately tell (even if you haven’t read the prior books) that Preston and Dacia weren’t among the “most liked” characters in the series, especially Dacia. They had both done a few shady things in the past that well, yes, earned them their “I-don’t-like-you” statuses. And this is precisely the reason why I absolutely loved this book’s title: Mending Scars. It played into the storyline in more ways than one, both physically and emotionally.
There was SO much more to Dacia’s character, and Preston’s for that matter. Their back stories were intriguing; I felt for them and understood why they did the things they did. They both had their fair amount of issues that weren’t necessarily their fault – they didn’t know better. I mean, for starters, Dacia had one hell of an evil father that caused her so much emotional pain that it amazed me how good Dacia actually turned out to be! All she wanted was to be acknowledged, accepted, and loved by her dad, but nope. An evil being such as Remus wasn’t capable of those feelings. Then on the other hand, we had Preston. He had this huge secret he’d kept all his life, one that could very well change his future, all while trying to bring down the most evil man of all, Remus. As fate would have it, Dacia and Preston ended up ‘bonding’ which of course made things even more interesting. After all, two broken souls completing each other? Heck YEAH.
However, falling for Dacia made Preston’s job a tad more complicated. Not only did he have his hands full with putting Remus away, but he had to do so all while keeping Dacia safe and protecting her not just from any physical harm, but from any and all emotional repercussions as well. I mean, he was trying to capture her DAD, nonetheless.
“You are my heart, Preston.” “And you’re mine.”
Overall, this was yet another fantastic book by Ms. Rivers. The paranormal side of it kept me on my toes, fully captivated, while the romantic aspect kept me swooning nonstop (and blushing – talk about hot scenes!). She has truly done it again! Rivers delivered one more must read!! Five stars to Mending Scars!! I absolutely loved Preston and Dacia’s story!
5 HUGE stars|Goodreads|Amazon I have been waiting for this book. I didn't really know it at the time, but I was waiting for it. Each novel that brandy releases I fall in love with. She constantly draws me in and subsequently blows me away with her writing and characters. This is another novel that you don't want to miss in this fantastic PNR series.
I'm not going to go TOO much into detail since this is the 5th book in the series and hopefully you are reading this review because you have read the previous novels. If you haven't, you should go do that first. They are fantastic.
This story is Dacia and Preston's. I know. You don't have to say it. I am not a huge fan of Dacia. Or, I wasn't before this novel. You never really know a character until you get into their head. You don't know what happened to make them the way they are. Dacia is back in the lime light, and not in a good way. She is part of a plan far greater than she understands and the darkness, her father, has a need for her.
While this is all fine and dandy, Preston is doing all he can to put Dacia's father away. He knows that Dacia is meant for him and he will do what he can to protect her, but still keep on his path to destroying her father's plan.
Brandy always gives us a slight twisted story in the way that you never really know what is coming next. I have waited a LONG time for Preston to get his story and it was a treat to finally get to read it. You don't want to miss this steamy new novel in the Denton world. It is a real page turner from the start. Giveaway: Comment on this blog post with you favorite Edenton Novel to enter to win an E-Copy of this novel!
Synopsis: 18+ adult content
Some scars run soul deep.
Preston finally knows what he wants, but it’s an uphill battle to win her confidence. Dacia has been hurt countless times, including by his own hand. Despite her accusations, he wants what’s best for her.
Dacia struggles with her inability to trust. Her mother has always been too wrapped up in her own life to pay attention. Her father only comes around when it benefits him. Dacia no longer believes she’ll ever come first.
Remus is a fugitive on Earth and in Faerie. His ungrateful daughter refuses to help, even when a mage nearly tracks him down. His best hope is pitting Dacia and Preston against each other.
Ultimately, Dacia must choose.
Can Preston help mend her scarred heart? Or will her father’s corrupt plan spoil Dacia’s chance at happiness?
While reading Brandy L Rivers’ newest Others of Edenton story, I openly admitted to her that I had never really liked either of the main characters and was hesitant to believe that she could make me care about them. But, to quote myself in a conversation with Brandy, “I'm only 41% through but absolutely love Preston and Dacia ... I was on the fence about Preston for a while but you've really made him into someone pretty awesome.”
It takes a talented writer to be able to completely turn around a reader’s opinion about characters. After seven books of not liking either Preston or Dacia, I can honestly say that I didn’t care if either of them ever got a happy ending. I now see how wrong I was. It’s like our parents, teachers, etcetera are always telling us: don’t judge a book by its cover. In Mending Scars - the eighth installment of the Others of Edenton – Rivers makes her readers re-think everything they thought they knew about the cavalier mage and haughty half-fey.
Never expecting to settle down, Preston has finally figured out just want he wants, but what he wants is Dacia. Dacia – hurt countless times in the past - doesn’t trust easily, so when Preston comes knocking, her instinct is to run from him.
Rivers bands these two unlikely allies together in the quest to capture a Fae fugitive who has been terrorizing both the others of Edenton and Seattle. The fact that he’s Dacia’s father only further complicates the story. Torn between how she feels for Preston and how she has long viewed herself and the world, Dacia is forced to make a choice between embracing who her father expects her to be and who she wants to be.
It’s in the quiet moments of the story that Rivers was able to completely transform this reader’s opinion of Preston and Dacia. Action sequences can teach you a lot about a character’s loyalties and skills, but it’s when their defenses are down that you really learn who they are. It’s these quiet moments that Rivers excels at. So many times just one or two lines between characters said more about where Preston and Dacia were mentally than could have been grasped in an entire chapter of action.
Now that I look back on the scenes in previous novels that made me dislike these two, I see more than their actions, I see the motivation behind those actions. It takes a writer with true skill and forethought to plan actions and consequences so far in advance and have those plans come to such amazing fruition.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received an ARC for a review. But more importantly, I'm a huge Brandy L Rivers fan. I've read all her books (even her contemporary romance, Heart on Fire, which I highly recommend) and have been waiting for Preston to get his own book since about the 3rd book in the series though you could read this as a standalone. And yes, I read this book in one sitting. Husband, kids, house fire couldn't have pried me off my couch for anything. It was so worth it. I love it and plan on rereading in the very near future.
Preston has always been a sexy, confident and cocky character. In Mending Scars he doesn't disappoint even with his hands full trying to catch Remus, unearth the truth concerning his closely held secret and least of all trying to convince Dacia they are meant to be. And I'll be honest when Dacia's character was first introduced, I hated her. But Dacia has slowly thawed her "ice princess exterior" and in Mending Scars becomes a character you can truly understand and want to be happy.
Dacia proves to a kick-ass character, overcoming her horrible father, ready to help whenever needed, and opening up her heart, even if she doesn't see it herself. I found myself rooting for Preston and Dacia despite everything Remus tries to do to ruin his daughter's happiness. His attempts at self-preservation are truly despicable. And it's ok to hate Remus, I do.
One of the things I love about Brandy's books is that I always find myself wondering about characters long after I'm done reading. And not just the main ones, there are lots of supporting characters that I cross my fingers get the full Brandy treatment. That is a mark of a great storyteller in my opinion. Can't wait for the next book!
I have followed this series from the very beginning and indeed it was one of my first forays into paranormal romance so it was with great delight that I sat down to read this book. The Others of Edenton will always have a special place in my heart and their antics and adventures never fail to entertain me. From the very beginning Dacia has been a troublesome character but she has secrets that cause her to behave in the most reprehensible of ways. Of one thing you can be sure with Dacia around there is never a dull moment! Preston oh you strong dependable male you! Preston has been a standout character to me throughout many of these books and it was with great joy that I realised he could finally get his own happy ending. I'm not saying it's a sure thing because just like Dacia his family background causes all sorts of complications . He has finally realised that he wants to pursue the feelings he has for Dacia but her treacherous father has a cunning plan to manipulate her one last time. Can Preston overcome the odds that seem heavily stacked against them or will the world he is used to come crashing down as his heritage is finally revealed ? I've been a fan of this series for quite some time and I love the way the author has expanded her world building. When I read the first two books the emphasis seemed more towards the shifters but with each subsequent book we get much more detailed accounts of these crazy paranormals and believe me one or two of them are truly vile! Expect hot and heavy scenes as the determined Preston woos his lady and then be prepared for action of a different kind as we figuratively boo and his at the villain ! My copy of this was gifted in exchange for an honest review
This was my long waiting Dacia book and I was not disappointed with it coming in as my second favourite book in this series. In other series’ it would be around this book that I would be getting bored however I am by no means anywhere near being bored, just call me officially hooked on this series. The main characters are Dacia and Preston, Dacia is a long featuring character in this book and has been my favourite character since pretty much the start so I was more than pleased when she finally got her own book and love interest. This book is very much a story of the growth of two long serving characters as they find each other as well as fight their demons. I thought this was very much a fantastic addition to the series and everything I wanted from a story about my favourite character.
As always in this series there are many secondary characters however I am not going to review them because they will either have already been reviewed from a previous book or might be reviewed later on in a book of their own.
The pacing and storyline were superb with their own and completely new and different storyline to others in the series. The pacing kept the book gripping and I could not put it down and the storyline meant that I was on the edge of my seat waiting and guessing what the outcome was going to be until the very last minute.
Mending Scars is Preston & Dacia’s story. Anyone who has read the series from the beginning knows that Dacia has some issues. She was definitely not one of my favorites early on but my opinion has changed drastically over the last few books.
Dacia has had a pretty tough life. Her father, Remus, is on the run from the Silver Council for some really atrocious crimes. He has treated Dacia so badly that she has come to believe that this is how all men will treat her, that she is not worthy of being put first. So, when Preston starts to show some interest she runs. She has a hard time believing that he really wants her, that he’s not just using her to get information about her father.
Preston is a tracker & an enforcer for the Silver Council. And yes, he is after Dacia’s father but he refuses to use her to catch him. He wants Dacia for who he knows she can be, his partner, his lover, his one & only. But can he convince her of that? And will the plans her father has for her get in the way? Or will the secrets Remus knows about Preston cause problems?
As usual, Brandy Rivers has written a fantastic book. If you want the answers to the questions I have posed here, read this book. You won’t regret it.
Oh my.... I am so happy Preston finally had his story, it was looonnnggg over due. Right??
He was quirky in the other books but not so much this one, he had something to prove, and was not going to give up until it was validated. But ah it had to be validated by none other than Dacia.
Her father is an evil man and will do anything to seek revenge and destroy his daughter, never mind it's his blood. But we already known this right? Selling her to someone so he can have more power, after all isn't this what his main objective is?
She is lost in herself, wants the happily ever-after, but how can she trust when she definitely has these issues.. She has something to prove and will go to any length to prove she is a good person, even if she can't help herself.
Preston is locked down in what he can or can't say. A secret that could change because of his mother, um yeah she has a part in this as well. But it isn't what you think, and I'm not telling.
Very sensual, very romantic, hot sex, lot's of mystery, suspense, and of course action. I wouldn't expect anything less from Brandy, after all, all of her books are like that. ;)
I know there will be more stories that need to be told, and I can't wait.
From the moment Dacia appeared in the first book of this series, I was rooting for her. Sure, most would see her as a "bad guy" who needed to be dealt with, but she slowly progressed and grew in each installment. I couldn't wait for her to finally have a bit of happiness for herself. And then came Preston. These two were made for each other and just don't know it! Damaged, but not quite broken Dacia and lonely, confused Preston. I was so excited for this book and was not disappointed. Sure, there were some sappy bits, but both characters needed that extra helping of reassurance to heal. I am also pleased with how the story ended, and how the true "bad guy" was punished. I am quite curious to find out who will get the star treatment next in Edenton (Please be Lincoln!), and what trials he/she/they will face.
A bit of a disclaimer, though it won't come as a hardship, this book in the series will make quite a bit more sense if you are caught up on Ms. Rivers' spinoff series, The Others of Seattle. I really love how the author has managed to tie the two together so seamlessly, yes still keep them separate, original, and captivating. Bravo.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review through Lovers of Paranormal.
This is Preston and Dacia's story, Book 5 of The Others of Edenton series. They've both been looking for someone to love them while watching all of their friends find that special someone. Preston is simply a good guy with a great sense of humour who tends to fall for the nice but not interested in a commitment girl. Dacia is someone everyone tends to hate because she's always going after someone else's man like a stalker. After getting to know more about Dacia and her evil father, Remus, we start to understand she's misunderstood and just looking for someone to love her.
This was a good story with lots of action and twists and I'm happy to see Preston and Dacia get their happily ever after. I just didn't love this couple as much as some of the previous ones. Maybe it was hard to let Dacia's past actions and behaviours go or maybe there just wasn't as much chemistry between the two. Either way, I look forward to the next installment in the series.
Brandy Rivers never fails to provide outstanding stories and Mending Scars is awesome. I love the fact that some of my favorite characters returned. The characters are great, both the good and the absolutely evil.
I enjoyed watching Dacis gradually change into the person she was finally to become. She had so many personal demons that she had to confront and that wasn't easy for her. Preston has always been one of my favorite characters and he was especially wonderful in this book. His personal life took a surprising turn and I enjoyed that.
Fighting the evil that threatened so many people that they care about Preston, Robert and Dacia worked together to try to bring Remus down. Remus had so many evil tricks up his sleeve that this didn't make catching up to him very easy.
This story has a few twists that were very interesting. I look forward to finding out what will happen to Lincoln, it was nice to see the change in him.
I love The Others of Edenton and I look forward to reading however many more books there are in this series.
This latest book in the others series is my favourite one to date. Here we have Dacia and Prestons story.Brandy did a good job of turning these characters in to two people you were rooting for.Preston, hes hot and sexy ,sometimes arrogant has finally decided he wants Dacia but she doesn’t trust easily having been hurt far too many timesand let down by her parents.Dacias father is a fugitive and he wants her help, but Dacia has a decision to make accepting the person her father expects her to be or becoming the person she wants to be.Angry at his daughter he sets Preston against Dacia in the hope she will choose him over Preston but will be succeed? Will Preston convince Dacia that they were meant to be together.Theres twists and turns and secrets to be told, its action packed and fast moving that holds your interest and some hot sexy moments too.Theres lots of interesting secondary characters that keep the story holding your attention to the very end!!
This series just keeps getting better and better. We have met Preston and Dacia before but this book packs a punch bring a lot of history into the mix that we have not been privy to in the previous books. Dacia has always been this bratty woman who I have disliked, since book one. Very true to life, her trauma's have really shaped her into the woman that she has been pretending to be and this book brings her back into my good graces. Preston has always been a fun character in this series, bringing a little cockiness to the storyline, cracking jokes and being this guy that can get any woman. Leave it to Dacia to drop him to his knees and make him work for it. He needed a bit of humbling.
Great story development to tie old characters to new ones and allow the story to continue. Others Of Edenton has a great cast, great romance, hot sex scenes and some great fight scenes as well! 5 Fangs!
Dacia has always been looked upon as a spoiled child and for good reason; all she ever thought about was herself and how to get what she wanted never of others. Slowly she is starting to change but even with these changes of heart she cannot seem to overcome the fear that she is unlovable and who can blame her? Preston has been a player for a very long time. Never settling down and never really finding someone who peaks his interest for more than one night. Things change for him when he starts to see Dacia change. He pursues her with a vengeance. The kicker is that the one woman he wants is also the daughter of the man he is hunting. Can he prove to her that he wants her for her and not to use her as a tool to get to her father? Can Dacia see past her old hurts and insecurities and let herself finally be loved? Can they make this relationship work before her father does something irrevocable to keep them apart?
I loved this book! Dacia has been seen as a bitch in the previous books of this series. That is exactly the way she's wanted it. She has never let a man close to her well guarded heart due to her father, Remus. The men she had in her past were never the real thing, even when she wanted them to be. Preston has secrets and a heart full of love. Waiting for the right woman seems to be a never ending journey for him. Preston wants to keep his fated Minx. While Dacia keeps pushing her destined Ember away. Two souls meant to be have a gritty road to travel to get their happily ever after. One father will do anything to destroy his child's dreams, as the other will do anything to protect the ones he loves. Now that I've finished this book I'm anxiously awaiting the next. I love this series so far! Brandy has a way of writing that drags you in and won't let go!
