★★★ 3 Stars ★★★

This story had great potential, it was a fairly decent read but my biggest problem was the lack of emotional connection between the two main characters.

This was a second chance romance, but I didn't feel or see enough of the history between Layla and Rage.

The biker aspect was pretty spot on, but the romance was lacking for me unfortunately.

Standalone novel, told in dual POV.

ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

Cullen- aka Rage- and Layla grew up in the MC life. He was her brothers best friend and all of her firsts- until the day he hurt someone at school. It was then she knew she had to eventually escape his rage. Even though he did what he did to protect her honor.

The opportunity comes for her to leave when she loses her parents. She leaves and doesn't look back for years until the day her brother dies. Now, she's forced back into the criminal life of the MC and back into the hands of her one true love.

Will she stay and calm the storms that rage on in Cullen? Or will she run back to Chicago to her boring life?

why this book didn't work for me:
1. Layla doesn't want anything to do with the criminal part of the books- yet she does that for another group. Hmmm -
2. Cullen sucked at being a protector. He leaves her alone a lot and she gets put into several situations.
3. I wanted to smack myself for the obvious duh moments when Layla does stupid things.
4. Cullen and Layla- where was the connection? I couldn't feel it.
5. Why did it feel like Cullen was the President and not Vice President?
6. The bad dude was beyond obvious.

what I liked:
1. Thrash
2. Spike
3. Aunt Donna

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I have to say this book is amazing. In this book we meet Layla and Cullen.

Layla found a way to leave her childhood and the MC behind. However when her brother Shawn is killed she comes back for his funeral and finds that she is having trouble leaving it all behind again.

Cullen has loved Layla since they were younger and he closed himself off to love after she left without and explanation. Now she is back though he wishes it were for a better reason. Cullen knows no matter what happens with them he has to protect Layla. Cullen promised Shawn to keep her safe.

Even though it isn't how either of them thought they would find their way back into the other's life there is a pull that neither can deny.

This book has some twists and turns that you won't see coming. I would recommend it to anyone. It will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word till the very end.

I will have to say, I was totally shocked after I finished reading this book. But in a good way. I have not read a lot of MC books, and I was afraid I wouldn’t like this one. BUT, I instantly feel in love with Layla and Cullen.
I was instantly pulled into the world of the MC from the first page. I could feel the loss of their fellow brother “Beast”, and my heart broke over and over for Layla. It took her a while to get through her pain and accept that the MC was her family. She fought it with everything in her, but I really think it was more of she was afraid of how the MC brought out what was inside of her. It wasn’t so much as the MC was bad, it actually wasn’t, but I really do feel Layla fought it because she didn’t want to see anyone else she loved get hurt or die again. Layla is a very strong and independent chick. She is hardcore and when things finally fell into place she nailed it. I absolutely loved that about her. She wasn’t afraid to take the bull by the horns and go with it.
Cullen, on man, he is everything you want to see in a strong man. He knows what he wants and he stops at nothing to get it. He protects his club with everything he has and will stop at nothing to protect his brothers. He is loyal and he wants what is best for the community as well. That is what I loved most about this MC book. It wasn’t a bunch of random men running around killing and doing horrible things. Yes, there is some violence, but not because they wanted it to happen.
When Cullen and Layla get together, you better hang on tight! I loved them together and I could feel their passion. I didn’t want their story to end and I really didn’t expect some of the things that happened. I did figure out one part of the book, but it didn’t affect how the book made me feel after I finished. It was interesting until the very end and I hated when it was over. I highly recommend reading this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series!

I adored this edge on seat story between Rage 'Cullen' and Lala 'Layla'
Layla left behind her life from the MC when she was a teenager after the death of her father due to his life as president of the MC and she couldn't stay and watch the same thing happen to her brother Sean and his best mate come her boyfriend Cullen as she knew they were going to join and be big in the MC.
Though Layla had to go back for the funeral of the murder of Sean and then told she had to stay to keep her safe which kills both her and Cullen who is now 2nd in command, who still blames her for leaving him. Bones the current president says She stays and becomes their accountant then after getting involved with their competitors from another MC and the Irish Mob Who gets her to do some accounting work for them in exchange of them helping hunt down the be MC gang (who deals in with drugs)around town who owned up to Sean's murder and then the gun down of another of their men. After finding where one of the mobs employee's hangs out who dealt with the group's drug selling to the mob, see's 1 that was at the shooting who tells him that it was one of theirs that told them to take the blame.
During their time back together again had brought them back together romantically again also after finding out who was the one killing Layla's family the men who Cullen trusts gets together without telling Layla that he's leaving and where to that she gets a visit from a old hated school friend who has been with Cullen, saying she wants to make amends but was setting her up and drugs her to take her to Bones, can Cullen, Thrash and Uncle Mick get to her BEFORE Bones does anything to her....

Wow!!!! This book hit me in the gut at 2%... Yes that's rite 2%.. This is one of those books that grabs you from the very beginning.. It's a fast-paced story that just sucks you in... I loved this book..

Fire and Steel MC is Layla's family.. A family she choose to runaway from after she lost her both of her parents as a teen.. Now she back at the very place she thought she would never step foot in again. And the reason for that is to say her goodbyes to her brother Sean (Beast ) who was gunned down and killed.. Layla ( Lala) comes face to face with the only man she has ever loved Cullen (Rage)

Cullen (Rage) is now the VP of Fire and Steel MC. He is out for revenge against who ever is responsible for the death of his best friend Sean (Beast).

Cullen has loved Layla forever, she is the only one he has ever loved and when Layla left Cullen fell apart.

So what will happen now that she is back???
Who is responsible for Beast death???
Will Cullen and Layla rekindle the love they once had for each other???
Well you will have to read to find out...

This was a great biker romance and I liked it enough to read in one sitting! I have read several books where the heroine comes back (after running from her MC life) due to family issues and there is a man waiting that she left behind...but this one was very well written and completely sucked me in from the first chapter.
Lala "Layla" was smart, curvy and the kind of woman men lusted after...brains and beauty...and "Rage" was that boy-turned-hot-man who got away and now she kind of wants him back (and vise versa).
It had an exciting plot...a murder mystery, drug dealers and mafia all rolled into one...and plenty of steamy sex and simmering tension to keep the romance reader in me happy.
This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be my last!

3 Stars.....just ok

As much as I wanted to love this story, I couldn't. I didn't love it nor did I hate it but it lacked serious connection between Rage and Layla for me personally. The writing was also just ok for me....I felt like most of the story didn't keep my interest, meaning, I wanted way more interaction and by that I mean actual verbal interaction between my H and h. I don't want all that "inner" talking, I want pure real out loud communication..... I also would have liked a better backstory on the 2...it was just very disconnected for me!

I will definitely give this author another try for sure, not sure about this series UNLESS there is a story about Thrash because HE INTERESTED me more than the main characters..... Sorry, hate to give a poor review but I just didn't connect with this story or the characters on many levels.

First book for me by this author but won't be the last. MC storyline that is fast paced, filled with suspense, drama and bad to the bone bikers. An intriguing story that will hold your attention. Running from the life that she thought she didn't want, Layla makes a trip back to the MC world when her brother gets killed. Reconnecting with the MC and the love she left behind proves to be one of the hardest things she's had to do. Cullen (Rage) lost his best friend and is out for revenge. Determined to keep Layla this time, he will do whatever it takes to protect her. Only problem I had with it was at times it seemed rushed making the flow off. Despite that I plan to read more in this series. Received an ARC copy from author for a honest review.

This book was given to me by the author for an honest review. I've read a lot of MC books and I enjoyed Rage. There was one part in Chapter 4 that should have been switched around but other than that it had all the components of a good MC book. it had fights and club whores and drugs and dirty cops. I give this book a solid 4 stars. I liked that Kaylee used a mix a Pittsburgh and Irish accents in there when the guys got mad. I still don't understand that note Bones wrote to Layla though that was in her brothers drawer but maybe we will find out in the next book. I'm definitely a fan so keep up the awesome work Kaylee Song!

Dialogue is a good thing.
And good dialogue is a necessity.
It's how growth and connection between the H/h is shown. There was way to much inner monologue and telling. Sorry...my pet peeve.
Writing style was also an issue for me.

Cullen is the VP of the Fire and Steel MC. He just lost his best friend and now he is faced with seeing his first love Layla back at the MC.
Secrets are being kept, revenge is the plan and betrayal is around the corner. This book gives it all to you. In the midst of that you get to see Cullen and Layla fall for each other again.

You can't run from your past

Layla escaped her past and the MC she was raised in. She's summoned home to attend her brother's funeral. She has no intentions of staying but gets pulled in by Cullen. He's her brother's bf and the hunky guy she's always lusted after.

So this is only the second MC Romance book I have read and I think it is a genre I could really get into. The gorgeous, alpha male men, dominating and claiming their women. It sounds like it should be disrespectful maybe, but it doesn’t go that far, it’s just hot!
I really enjoyed book #1 in the Fire And Steel Motorcycle Series. Rage AKA Cullen Mcfadden, is the short tempered, brooding, hot bodied Vice President for the club. Layla Mckenna despises the club. She has lost her mother and father through it. Layla and Cullen were each other’s first everythings! One day when Cullen lost his temper and badly beat a lad at school unconcious, Layla became scared of him and what he could do. Mixed with her father’s death, she felt she had to get away from the violent life of the club. So at fifteen she got away. Went to live in Chicago with an aunt. Not once returning to the club…….Until she had no choice…….She had to return for her brother’s funeral.
Cullen is set for revenge on whoever killed Layla’s brother, his best friend, Sean. War is declared when a rival gang start bragging about killing Sean. Bones, the motorcycle club president, says Layla is not safe on her own, with the killers still out there and tells her she she has to remain under the protection of the club. The safest place to stay being Cullen’s house that he shared with Sean. Layla is not happy but she knows she has no choice, she has to stay. She is also given a job as an accountant at the clubs garage. She is shocked when she first see’s the house. It’s everything she always said she wanted with the vegetable and herb garden, and a kitten (named Killer). Sean did this for her, always trying to entice her home and it is overwhelming.
Plans are set in motion to destroy the rival gang that killed Sean. The club joining together with a rival gang, protecting them during drug running. To take business from Hound’s Breath, the gang that admitted to killing Sean. Even going so far as to start working with the Irish mob, the main suppliers of the drugs.
Layla is pulled into the deal with the drug supplier, to work sorting his accounts for a month. Cullen assumes Bones will go crazy when he finds out but very very suprisingly he is fine with it.
Throughout the story, Cullen and Layla realise their love for each other never faded, but at first, they both fight against it. There are a few stolen kisses, but each time, one of them pulls back. Cullen feels jealous and possessive whenever he see’s other men looking at Layla. It soon comes to a head and Cullen claims Layla as his “Ol’ Lady”.

“What the hell are you—-” I didn’t have a chance to finish my sentence, I was in the air before I could protest.
He lifted me up and put me over his shoulder like a caveman. Just like he had that woman the other day.
“Put me down” I shouted, outraged and a little scared.
“She is mine. I claim her. This is my ol’ lady. No one else will touch her, do you understand?” He growled out each and evey word as he said them, shouting across the bar.

So will Cullen and Layla get revenge and retribution for what happened to Sean, or is all not as it seems within the Fire And Steel Motorcycle Club?
Kaylee’s use of Pittsburghese, gives the story an authentic feel. It’s written in the male and female perspective with complex and straight to the point context and dialogue. I read a lot of sex scenes in books that just seem cheesey or over the top or rushed but I feel Kaylee did them justice. With great pace, length and description.
Cullen and Layla’s feelings towards each other felt intense. Fighting the pull towards each other, it made for great reading, but at first I kept screaming in my head ” Just get it together already!” How the slow build back to a relationship progressed worked perfectly with the pace of the book. I’m just a little impatient sometimes ha ha.
I loved the clubs terminology for cars, calling them cages, showing their dislike for them. It was like a Fire and Steel Motorcycle Club “thing.”
There’s nothing really that I disliked about the book, if I had to say something, I would have to say it’s Cullens use of “baby girl” for Layla. This is just a personal dislike of that pet name though :-)
I loved this start to the series and cant wait to read book #2, which I just happen to have, ready and waiting :-)

Marla: I received this ARC of Rage, by Kaylee Song

I love a good MC book/series & I think Kaylee did a great job at getting a readers attention right from the start.

Layla, but to some close family and friends LaLa, leaves Chicago to attend her brother Sean's funeral. She was born and raised in this life. the MC life took everything away from her, with the death of Sean she feels devastated and alone. We find out that because of her resentment to the club she often kept up appearances that her life in Chicago was great, but really it wasn't. With immediately family gone and danger surrounding her, she will need protection.

The beginning of this story starts off strong and in a big emotional way. I liked being immersed in the MC lifestyle, I liked reading and seeing things through Layla's eyes. When she comes face to face with past members and of course when she comes face to face with Cullen McFadden, "Rage."

"Lala?” I hate that stupid nickname. I crossed my arms and glared. “Layla. I go by Layla now.” And somehow that was the wrong thing to do, because a slow smile crept over his face.

I knew Rage would drive Layla crazy, he couldn't stay away from her! We get to be in his mind too! I liked that we got to see him being suspicious of the club, I liked that he wanted to avenge Sean's death, his best friend, and I liked that he wanted to protect Layla no matter the consequences even if it meant a war against his own brothers.

They are both hurt, Layla left for good reasons, but Rage felt abandon. I felt a pang at my chest for Sean who wanted his sister around him and now never had the chance.

"What I saw there took my breath away. A little garden, seeds planted, small sticks coming out of the ground. Just like I’d always dreamed about."Just like he’d always talked
about planting for me. I opened the door and walked out onto the back porch, sinking to my knees as I looked over it, the tears flowing as I clutched my cameo."

Layla sticks it out and ends up being a strong, sassy mouthed woman that keeps Rage on his toes! There is danger around them and through it all we get our STEAM
“We are going to go slow and enjoy ourselves, because I want the full experience. If I only get this once, I want it to last,”

"He was going to torture me. He already was torturing me. And there was nothing I could do to stop it."

Towards the end, I just wanted a bit more between them as a couple. They have a history and past maybe more from that, since the beginning of the book was emotional. However, I am thinking in the end I may get what I want , that this will be a series and we will all get to read more about Rage, Layla, and some
Of the members of the club.( Strike seems so hot and interesting! )

If you like your MC series with a bit of emotion, suspense, and steam
This is a great read ! 4 stars

Layla has to come home to Pittsburgh and its under the saddest of circumstances. Her brother, Beast, has been killed and she is returning for his funeral. While there and grieving, she is told by the MC's new Prez, Bones (because her father was also killed, while serving as Prez, no less), her Uncle Mick and Cullen (Rage) that she is not leaving. Even if it's not the place where she wants to be, its the only place she wants to be.

Rage wants one thing, Revenge. His best friend, his brother-in-arms has been killed and he wants blood. As thoughtful and methodical as Cullen is, he has this Rage, Anger, and Demon inside him, ready to avenge Beast's death. His guilt, his promise and his love for Layla makes him want to keep her safe, but she is his biggest distraction.

Layla and Rage are electric. You can feel their sexual tension in the first instant they are in the same room. These two never fell out of love for each other, but they both had to work through their own fear and resentment to get back to each other. Layla hates the club for what happened to her father, mother and now her brother. Yet, the club is in her blood and it is all she has....besides Rage.

 photo 200XM17Z5F0_zpsqpimec2f.gif

Props to Kaylee Song, who was able to write a strong female character that stood up to the scariest of men. Also, for writing about a man who in no way could be considered romantic, yet was super sweet in certain scenes. You knew Rage loved every part of Layla.

The whole time reading, I knew something was up with the new Prez, Bones. I just had a funny feeling about him. Beast (Layla's brother Sean) felt something too, but Layla and the rest of the club realize it too late.

****I was offered a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Beyond the Valley of the Books blog.****

The author sure knows how to capture the interest of her readers early. She started this book with an intense scene bringing the reader right into the mess that Layla finds herself in. After losing her father and mother due to MC activity, she left and ran to another city to get an education and try to live a normal life. She left behind her brother Sean and her first love Cullen but the freedom from the devastation of crime and death was worth it to her. Now she is called back to the club, to attend her brother’s funeral. The plan was to attend the service and escape back to her independent world that she has fought so hard for, but the plans changed on her and she is now back in the mess known as Fire and Steel.

Cullen, also known as Rage, was her brother’s best friend and was working his way up to President in the club. Now all he can focus on is revenge and justice for his friend, another friend that he is forced to bury. Someone is going to have to pay for this and in the midst of his rage, he sees her, Layla, the girl that got away from him, the one who broke Sean’s heart when she left him alone and refused the life he was invested in. Rage made a promise, he would protect her but does this mean he is going to have to go along with the plan and drag her back into the death trap that the club has become?

Be prepared for some intense action as the club is targeted by death threats, crime and violence. Layla will have to use her intelligence as she uncovers the dirty deeds that are being done behind the scenes. She ends up putting herself in compromising positions that will feed her lust for Rage, and fuel her anger with the loss of lives to gain power and revenge but will she ever be able to escape again once she has gone this far. Layla is going to come face to face with the crush she had on the young Cullen and now the heated passion that drives her crazy for the grown man who earned his name Rage. Which reality is going to be the one she chooses? Is the risk to be with Cullen worth it to her in the end?

I enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. The plot was captivating, my interest never died but the style took a bit for me to adjust to. I felt there were scenes that would have benefited more if they had been expanded with more description and details. Parts of the story felt a little rushed, leaving me wondering about how things really happened. I am looking forward to the next book and see if those questions are going to be answered but while we wait, I suggest you grab your copy of Rage and be ready for some raw and intense emotions and an action packed ride.

Enjoyed the story

I have to say that I did enjoy this story. The story itself was good. This author has huge potential!! She just needs a few really good beta readers.

I'll explain why.

First, the story was a really good one. I really thought it was great. However, the flow of the book was off. It would start off with a great flow, the story moving along nicely and then it would start to feel rushed. Take your time, it could be totally amazing if you just add a few things here and there. In some places, even adding something as simple as an extra sentence would have probably made the flow of this scene or That scene much better.

The transition of Lala going from No to Yes (if you read or are the author you know what I mean) was a bit off. Again maybe a few extra lines or information would have helped.

The ending was a bit rushed as well. Slow down. Take time to add a few things here and there. Read 100 times and make sure all questions are answered and if you plan to answer them in book two (not sure yet if there is one I haven't looked and it wasn't made clear) then make sure you do it in a way that the reader knows there is more to come and they will get their answers then.

Watch your dialogue!! Make sure that when you have them talking during an intimate scene they don't sound... blah. (Sorry) (and this isn't every time! Only a few)

Basically, it just comes down to slowing down and not having the story feel rushed. It's ok to add a few more pages lol Just get you some really good beta readers that know what they are doing and will tell you like it is and you should be fine. Great potential!!

With all that said, please still read this book and read it for what it really is... a great story. Do not let my comments or anyone else stop you from reading. It really was a good one and I read it all in a day because I couldn't put it down.

To the author, if you would like to know exactly what I mean about my comments here, please feel free to ask me. I don't want to say to much here and give anything away, but I would be more than happy to let you know.

Abby from Abby and Lisa's Book Blog

Again, read this book! It really is great! Just needs a few tweaks here and there.

Received ARC in return for an honest review.

Rage is the story about Cullen and Layla. Layla grew up in the MC. She left for school and was hoping to never have to come back. After a tragedy, Layla is called back to her old neighborhood into the MC life.

I really enjoyed the story. It was the first MC book I've ever read and I was a little bit skeptical going into it. I wasn't sure if I would like the genre. I am so glad that I took a chance on this book. The way Kaylee writes about the MC life made me feel like I was actually living as a part of the MC. I loved the main characters, but I also loved all the supporting characters and look forward to hopefully getting to read their stories as the series progresses.

This book has a main love story, but it also has an underlying mystery. Aside from Cullen and Layla reconnecting, there is something wonky going on in the MC. Cullen, Also known as Rage, is the vice President of the MC and he's the one who is trying to figure out the mystery. At every turn the reader uncovers another clue to solve the mystery. The way Kaylee build up the suspense in the book is brilliant. There were times that I physically felt myself tense because I could tell something big was coming up and it made me nervous yet excited at the same time to finally have things revealed.

Although I really enjoyed the book, there were a couple things that I did not like. I thought like parts of the story were a little bit rushed. I felt like maybe things are progressed a little bit slower. Also I found a couple of spelling errors or grammatical errors, but I was able to overlook them at the content of the story was worth it.

With that being said, I would definitely refer this book to a friend.

I was very intrigued by this book as not only was it a second chance romance but one that included hot men on bikes; SIGN ME UP! Unfortunately, beyond the steamy scenes, the story itself I felt was dragging on until about 70% in. Then things turned up but it was so brief that I wanted more!

Layla, aka Lala, grew up around club life and she has lost almost everyone she loves to it. The wall she puts up made her almost detached and unapproachable as a reader. She was hard, confusing, and her inner dialogue really didn't help me understand the wide range of emotions that I feel someone in her shoes would have been experiencing.

Cullen is hot and you get his personality and flaws right up front. His protectiveness was a turn on but his lack in empathy in almost every way shape or form was not. His only emotion was Rage, which I get that's the title, but when the one you love is hurt I doubt a "good F*cking" is the only way one can express concern and love. I was waiting for his weakness beyond Layla. Maybe a brother in the club or something else in his life. But because Layla was so hard to connect to, his weakness being her made me roll my eyes in some moments.

The action and quick plot development 70% and on was amazing though!!! I only wished the author would have brought the thrilling aspects of club life through out the whole book. With more twists and angst.

Of course the book had some majorly hot moments that will leave you flustered and possibly a cold shower or two will be needed *wink* Overall I feel with this just being the first that there was some rough edges, but the second one I hope will be a bit better and I will definitely be reading it!!

This was a story about two people who loved each other in the past, but were separated because one wanted more than the life one leads being a part of an MC. It was a pretty good story, but it wasn’t one that left me with all the feels at the end.

Layla and Cullen (aka Rage) haven’t seen each other for years. After the tragic death of Layla’s brother, Layla is dragged back into the life she tried so hard to run away from, but it also brings her back to the only man she’s ever loved. There’s a lot of catching up to do between these too, not to mention that impossible connection that just can’t be ignored. Though they fight their undeniable feelings for each other, their hearts win the battle and they start a fragile relationship.

There’s a lot of secrets and controversy going on in the MC. Things that some high ups don’t want looked into. What happens when Rage and Layla get dragged into the one thing that killed Layla’s brother? Will their blooming relationship last through all that transpires, or will they be ripped from each other’s arms?

This story had promise of being an amazing read. I just wish there was more back story and also some more chemistry/romance between the characters. Also, Layla seemed like a totally hypocrite through a good portion of the book. She runs from the MC to get away from all they are, criminals and killers. Yet she has no issues going and helping out a totally different group that is just the same, if not worse, than the MC she despises so.

As always not everyone book is a favorite for everyone. I’d say, if you enjoy MC books, definitely give this one a shot. You never know, you could find your next favorite book right here!

This is a wonderful MC romance with a different approach to the story than the other MC romances that I have read which is unique and makes you dive in further to this story.

This is the first book in the story by Ms. Song and the main characters are Layla “Lala” and Cullen aka "Rage" , her first love. Lala has come back home after her brother is gunned down in cold blood and she returns for his funeral. She tries to leave after the funeral but she is pressed to stay, being told that her life will be in danger from other gangs, mob factions, out for revenge so she stays. And she ends up staying with Rage. There is some definite heat between the two-some hot sexual tension that will have you looking for a fan or turning your AC in high,
You have a mystery going on as to who is out trying to take over the biker house that Rage is apart of and that Lala’s brother was murdered for. Through their big ups and downs, gradual and huge rises and falls, dazzling and awful flashes, their innate love another came thru , and that in the end helped them to heal and in the end, helped them to grow even stronger together in their relationship.
There is so much action, there are villains, and there is a mystery. I love this story and the writing was on point. I was addictive to this story from page 2 until the end and now I am needing my fix for book two. I cannot wait for the author to bring book 2 out. This is a thrilling new book with romance with so much more in it and I highly recommend this story to read.
