The Sacred Hearts MC #6

Damaged & Dangerous

Rate this book
She’s Damaged… Dani Broussard never imagined that her life would turn out like this. She always thought that her grandfather would be there for her into adulthood and that her high school sweetheart, Jared, would be the man she would marry. That isn’t what happened though. Instead, her grandfather got sick and passed away before Dani saw the age of nineteen. It was just her and Jared until he hooked up with a local MC, The Suicide Kings… Then it was just her. Pig-Pen claimed her body, rules her life, but he would never hold her heart. Kept because of her looks and a particular set of skills unique only to her, Dani has been with The Suicide Kings for the last three years… three long damaging years. She hates it, all of it, the pain the humiliation, the fear… and as strong as Dani is, as clever as she can be, she is quickly finding that death may be the kinder, gentler option rather than live through any more of this hell. He’s Dangerous… Red-XIII is, and always will be, a Sacred Hearts man. But for now, he’s a Suicide Kings prospect. Tasked with providing intelligence on the King’s inner workings to his real club, Thirteen has been slowly, quietly and carefully dismantling the King’s operation from the inside out. The situation is dangerous, good thing Thirteen is a dangerous guy but even he can’t be everywhere at once and a couple of missteps have cost the Sacred Hearts dearly. Doubly determined to finish this with no more wreckage or damage to the SHMC, Thirteen is blindsided by his heart when he lays eyes on Dani. A pretty, little thing with long black hair and striking blue eyes. She slays him with one look from her damaged soul and now Thirteen has tasked himself with two missions… Take down The Suicide Kings and get both Dani and himself out alive. For now those missions run parallel to each other but what happens if they ever end up at odds? The bigger question is, how can he get close to the VP’s Ol’ Lady as a Prospect and not get them both burned?

Dani had her life ripped away from her when the VP of The Suicide Kings decided that he wanted her for himself. Not giving a choice in the matter Dani is taken as Pig-Pen's old lady and for the last three years she has hated her life. Used as nothing more than an object and a punching bad, Dani's life has becoming meaningless to her. Until the new prospect comes and gives her hope.

Thirteen is a member of The Sacred Hearts MC but for now he is prospecting for The Suicide Kings to get enough information to take them down. But when he see's Dani his priorities change and he know's he has to save her. But how can he save both his club and the woman he can't get out of his mind.

This series kind of lost it for me in book five because of how it ended, but I am really glad that I continued and read this one. I really liked Thirteen and how protective he was of Dani. He saw her pain and would do anything to take it away and it was swoon worthy how he took care of her. I felt Dani's pain like it was my own and I wanted her to finally get her revenge on the bastards responsible for her hurting. The whole time reading I was rooting for her and Thirteen to take those assholes out.

Though I liked the characters, overall, they left something to be desired. I had to admire Dani for surviving so long in such a hell but I was a little disappointed by her character. I think I was expecting her to be stronger, maybe? She stood up for herself and i liked that but there was just something about her that was still a little naive that I didn't like. Thirteen was a good character but we never learned his back story so I felt like I didn't know him.

I liked the chemistry that Dani and Thirteen had and I could feel the connection between the two. The little moments that they were able to steal and hide from The Suicide King's were the best. Even in the face of danger they couldn't stay away from one another and it was great to see them getting that time away from those pig's.

Bottom line, this was a good story and I enjoyed reading it. There were some things that lost it for me but didn't make me hate the book. I hope Blue will get his book soon!

Thank god!!!! If you have read the last book, you will know what I mean! I was ready to say some really mean things about this author after the last book! I know this was Thirteen's book and his story was amazing, but all I cared about was Reaver. It sounds like this MC has been wrapped up so now the author can write the Kraken MC. I need Cutter's story!!

I had high hopes for this story, after the rest of the series that I had really, truly enjoyed. However, it fell too flat for me. It didn't even feel how the rest of the stories felt as I read them. There was something lost in the translation and I couldn't ever find it, no matter how much I searched.

So, I'm sad to leave a 2 star rating and review.

In the end, the magic of the series was lost on me and I couldn't buy into the love that this couple had in the time frame allotted, or maybe it was the way the story was written that didn't make me believe in their love.

What I did like:
1. Their stolen moments in the face of dangerous men
2. Sacred Hearts MC & Women
3. Red- VIII (Thirteen), once he wanted something, he didn't play games about it.
4. Rocket's feelings about staying or going. I appreciated that she struggled with that, as it felt real.
5. The thank you gifts
6. The BIG twist- though it wasn't made out so grand... it was big for this reader as I thought all hope was lost there.

Well, SURPRISE-SURPRISE!!!! I loved this book. Finally, The Suicide King C..ts got theirs. How Dani was still sane is beyond me but thank God for Thirteen. I never heard of him before so he was a surprise. I'll have the fact that he has a 13 incher burned into my brain for a long time...lol. Anyway, although I didn't enjoy getting a headache from crying when I read the previous book I was ecstatic to hear the news though. Don't want to say too much in case people haven't read this yet! Hope there are more books in this series, ie. Blue, Duracell, etc. On to reading about Cutter - looking forward to that.

Man, with this one things finally came to a head and it was both really good and really bad.

First the bad…Dani, man what a horrible situation she was in. I was very happy that Thirteen took a liking to her and did what he could to help her out. As more of Dani’s story came out I really wanted Thirteen to be her white knight, to save her. Turns out that Thirteen needed saving and Dani took a chance to help the one guy that had shown her kindness in a long time. Things were a bit iffy at first when Dani showed up at the Sacred Hearts clubhouse. The guys were wary of Dani, someone who had lived with the enemy, while Dani was wary of the guys as she was stuck with the Suicide Kings and things weren’t good for women there. Slowly each won the other over. I loved that by the end of the book the guys, even the lone holdout, welcomed Dani to the club and loved how Dani showed them all how much she was happy to be there.

Now for the really good. Last book I was so pissed at the author for what happened to one character, a character I loved. With this book I found out what I thought happened didn’t, it was all part of the larger plan to finally end the Kings. When the knowledge became public it made for some great reunions!

Surprisingly good MC read.

Dani Broussard is living in hell her life changed when she was nineteen, her grandfather died which left her with no family but she has Jared her high school sweetheart the man she's going to marry but Jared gets involved with a local MC and drags her along with him and now her life is no longer her own.
Dani now belongs to Pig-Pen the cruel and evil VP of The Suicide Kings, he abuses and humiliates her and for three long years this has been her life and she can't see any way out.
Thirteen is a member of The Sacred Hearts MC but he's undercover as a prospect for The Suicide Kings his job is to pass on information on their inner workings and he's been slowly destroying them from the inside but he's appalled by what he finds, a club fuelled by drugs, cruel to women with no loyalty or true sense of brotherhood.
Dani knows Thirteen is different but she finds herself slowly drawn more and more towards him. Thirteen isn't looking for love or even a woman, he's got a job to do and that's it but there's something about Dani something he can't ignore.
This book held me from beginning to end and had everything I look for in a good MC book including a hot alpha male and a great female character plus of course romance.
I knew this was book 6 in this series and I'm not normally a fan of reading books out of order so checked out the earlier ones and found 6 in total and after reading the blurbs and quickly checking out the reviews none really stood out although I've since changed my mind and I'll be reading 'Masked & Miserable' which is book 3.5.
I discovered that Thirteen had made a brief appearance in an earlier book but he wasn't a regular and therefore I wasn't missing a huge chunk of his backstory by skipping the others and yes this can be read as a standalone.
I'm now waiting for 'Cutter's Hope' which is due out on the 5th January.

After the devastation caused by Fractured & Formidable, I dove into Damaged & Dangerous unsure what I would find. I wanted answers, I wanted closure and I wanted revenge for the death of my beloved book boyfriend. I won't name him on the off chance, whoever is reading this doesn't know who I mean, lol.

Dani and Thirteen. What to say? Although we had "met" Thirteen before, it was so brief I had to look back to remember who he was. Dani, an unwilling, but resigned, Ol' Lady to the filthy, sadistic arsehole of a VP in the Suicide Kings MC, was a great addition to the series. Although she was down; so down at one point she had about given up, she turned out to be a really strong, brave character. I loved her.

I got what I wanted, and more importantly NEEDED from this book. I really want to tell you, but that will just spoil it. I will say though, that for those still wounded from Book 5, give this a read. Do not skip it out of protest. You NEED to read it, to get your closure, and if you're anything like me, quite the book hangover, lol.

A.J.Downey wrote a fantastic and fitting conclusion to the current story arc! I won't say series, as she has promised that at some point, whenever that may be, she will revisit with the family I've come to know and love so well. Plus I'd really like to see an all character epilogue, hint hint AJ!

I received an ARC prior to the release date and am so glad that I finally got to read it. I have loved all the books in this series and this one I love as well. Thirteen and Dani are great together. It is heartbreaking and uplifting. Dani is in such a bad place that she doesn't want to go on, but she is brought back to health and shown a different way of life. In my reviews I do not write spoilers, so I can just honestly say that this book is amazing. I felt the emotion that I have felt with all of the prior books and then some.

This story felt rushed trying to get the couple together.I had to really think about who thirteen was as he was so briefly mentioned before, Dani just getting out of an abusive situation falling into bed with Chris aka Thirteen was kinda off. Yes. she was starting to have respect for him but going from being raped to wanting to sleep with him in just a couple of days. Nope. They needed more time to get to know each other. Like sharing a bed and not rushing into sex. Just talking and Thirteen was almost dead then they were all over each other. I was upset that they let the new guys rough her up with very little consequence. Oh but we did finally get to see Cutter's true side backhanding a woman. I knew he was playing to good to be true that Reaver was stupid for trusting him. Cutter doesn't respect women he wants to own them. He was to dead set to get into Hayden's pants from the get go and stupid Reaver let him. I hope Hoss gets the hell out of dodge now she can find better than Cutter. And another of those short men how can he ride a bike with someone with him. I have to say worst of all I hate a story that repeats in next chapter what was covered in the chapter before it. Also a book should pick up where another left off not try and merge with it when nothing in this book was in the one preceding it. So does that mean Blue and Duracell are gay? And if so why did Ghost go so animalistic on Shelly? I was hoping to see Dragon finally find someone to love, yes he loved his wife but he deserves to be happy now too. Still a lot left hanging.

Well talk about the dead coming back alive! This was a shock to my system after the small meltdown I had with book five. Though I was pleasantly happy at the shock of seeing a dead man well...so very alive!

I really enjoyed Dani and Thirteen's story. Dani was just a sweet girl who got dealt a very sad hand in life, but she tried really hard to make the best of a truly fucked up situation. She didn't always succeed but she didn't give up and that's what matters. Thirteen was your typical biker, loyal to his club, totally in love with his woman. I think what I liked best about him was his humility. His club name Red-XIII...wasn't only because he was a red head, well you can guess why he'd been dubbed with the number thirteen...lol. Thing is he wasn't arrogant or cocky...no pun intended...he was just honest in a very frank and cute way.

I know the story continues with Cutter and his boys but this sixth book was a really nice pseudo-ending for this first batch of SH brothers...I look forward to reading Cutter's story and also the other newer batch of the SHMC!

This is my favorite book in this series. My main complaint is how nothing is really said about Reaver not being dead. Some more info and insight into that would have been nice. The H/h meet when he is undercover at rival mc. The VP at rival mc claimed h as his ole lady and killed her boyfriend, three years earlier. When club finds out H is rat they shot him and the h helps him get to his club. They take her in and the mc kills the remaining members of the rival mc. The club goes and gets the girls from Florida.

YOU ARE SOOOO LUCKY

I was going to write a scathing review after Shelley & Ghost's story, but fortunately waited to see. I had already read some of the sacred Brotherhood and a few things weren't adding up. Glad I waited😁 This book really good. I liked it a lot. Trying to wrap my head around 5'5" x 13" though. Haha. Keep 'em coming, intentional pun. Can't wait for Cutter's story.

Whew!

Ok so last book I was so upset with the author. However she redeemed herself with this book!. Red thirteen finds his true love while he is undercover at the rival mc clubhouse. She saves his life and takes him back to his home at sacred hearts clubhouse. A total surprise occurs in this book that I didn't see coming. I think you will love this book but please go back and read this series in order so it will make more sense.....enjoy!!!!

I don't have enough words to describe how much I enjoyed this entire series. Especially this narration! This is hands down probably one of the best narrations I've ever listened to. All the little sound effects down to the cell phone calls and all the little chapter theme songs? PERFECTION!
