Eternal Mates #8

Marked by an Assassin

Rate this book
A snow leopard shifter exiled from his pride twenty years ago, Harbin treads the dark path of life as an assassin, driven by a hunger for vengeance, mercilessly hunting the Archangel members who attacked his kin, murdering his mother and sister.

When a new contract comes in and the mark is a snow leopard shifter, he can’t resist venturing into the mortal world on a personal mission to find out why one from a normally peaceful species now has a price on their head. What he finds in a rundown nightclub isn’t quite what he expects—a beautiful snow leopard female that awakens a fierce hunger inside him.

Aya has spent seventeen years living in London, immersed in the underbelly of the fae world, keeping her head down and her tail out of trouble. But when trouble walks right into her life in the form of a sinfully handsome, dangerous assassin, she is pulled into a whirlwind of events that stir up the nightmares of her past but might just give her a shot at putting those ghosts to rest—if she can resist the dark allure of a male she knows is her fated mate.

Can Harbin and Aya resist the passionate fire that blazes between them as they chase the vengeance they both crave? Or will they surrender to their deepest desires?

I’ve been a rather fickle reader where selecting my favourite ETERNAL MATES installment is concerned; first I fell in love with Loren & Olivia, then it was Cavanaugh & Eloise, and now I’m all about Harbin & Aya. MARKED BY AN ASSASSIN was a marvelous addition to this series with its feline inspired fight scenes, poignant romance story, and the way that it tied into some of the earlier books.

Key points in the two protagonists’ pasts were established in the opening chapters giving the characters a lifetime’s worth of history in one quick pass, so that way Felicity Heaton was able to get to the core of this title faster. This approach suited me perfectly because the plot was of the just-keeps-on-giving variety, and the author definitely made the most of her 263 pages.

Even though this series can be read out of order, we get a different perspective on a pivotal scene that occurred in TAKEN BY A DRAGON, and I’ve already given two of the previous novels top ratings prior to doing so again with #8 which means that you have nothing to lose by starting with KISSED BY A DARK PRINCE. Anyway, I digress, that was far from being the only memorable part; all of the action rocked too!

Initially, I didn’t have much of an opinion of Harbin aside from the knowledge that he was Cavanaugh’s brother, but combine twenty years worth of assassin training with an unrelenting quest for vengeance and a soft spot for his childhood crush, and you have an irresistible male lead. Aya was quite the spitfire as well, and Hartt / Fuery were a curious pair that I hope we’ll see more of in the future.

MARKED BY AN ASSASSIN had ooh-la-la in all of the right places!

Is this really the eigth book in this series? Wow they just keep on coming and the author never seems to run out of ideas or steam! I confess that her elves and demons are totally drool worthy but Ms Heaton has returned to her shifters with this book and given us Harbin the leopard brother of old favourite Cavanaugh. She doesn't stop there though as she cunningly intertwined his romance with blast from the past Aya! Now we know that Harbin is a deadly assasin but his newest job takes him deep into the one place he never wanted to go, the heart of Archangel!
I have no wish to ruin this book for others but will say it's a heart warming romance that this couple really do deserve after all they and their loved ones have suffered. Harbin is so weighed down with guilt and yet valiantly carries on. Aya is a bit of a conundrum at first but in true style quickly shows her mettle. What really did surprise me was seeing a scene that I remembered from a previous book played out from a completely different prospective . These scenes really helped ramp up the action but like others I'm sadly left wanting just a little ( ok a lot because hey Bleu!) more . Yes there's passion but it's everything that's happening that keeps me gripped. Ms Heaton writes top notch paranormal stories with diverse characters and I can't wait to read more.

~ 5 Marked by an Assassin Stars ~

Epic! Outstanding! Mind-blowing!

WOW! Each book is just as amazing as the last, if not more extraordinary. I have another favorite in this epic series. I really can’t just pick one. The series is extraordinary. The author knows how to weave a fantastic tail with each new novel. Each novel is packed full of action, twists and turns, new surprises, eventful and emotional moments, which add up to one remarkable read!

Marked by an Assassin brings us some key points in the opening chapters on our leads Harbin and Aya, that give the characters a lifetime’s worth of history. Learning about their history sets us up nicely for the plot that just keeps giving.

Harbin and Aya have a history and combine that with what happened in-between their childhood to them become adults you end up with an irresistible male lead and a spitfire heroine. Their chemistry was superb. I liked that we got to see more of Hartt and Fuery, they are a curious pair and I hope we get to see them in the future. I also like that we got to revisit with other previous characters.

The series can be read out of order which is nice, but I highly recommend an in order read. We get to revisit some pivotal scenes that happened in privies novels. These scenes are given to us in different perspectives and it just adds to the awe-inspiring adventure.

Marked by an Assassin adds up to one spectacular, suspenseful, heart-wrenching, and wondrous read. It left me so content and I am just waiting on pins and needles for the next installment in this series.

When I say that I love this series, I mean that I LOVE this series! Heaton has created a world that will suck you in and with each additional installment just gets better and more complex. MARKED BY AN ASSASSIN continues the series with another great pairing. Harbin and Aya are connected in a way that is surprising when it unfolds but adds great dimension to what is happening between them. They are both scarred and distrustful for very good reasons. Harbin is more feral than civilized and Aya is trying to be as detached as possible while gaining what she once thought was rightful vengeance. However, with Archangel nothing is at it seems and as the lies and deceptions unfold Aya struggles to come to terms with her part in what is happening to fellow shifters.

It's always a little hard for me to write reviews for books that I really enjoy because many of the best parts are spoilers. If you are a paranormal romance fan this series really is a must read. As with the others, MARKED BY AN ASSASSIN is full of intrigue, action, and the struggle of fated mates coming together despite tough obstacles. Yes, there is enough of the steamy romance in there as well.

Just like with the others there are secondary characters in this one that I now look forward to getting their own stories down the line. I stand with my fellow ETERNAL MATES fans in wanting Bleu's story-we ALL do! Now I also want to find out more about Hartt and Feury as well. When a man can help reach someone who is feared by everyone and is about to snap with a calming touch like Hartt can, that's a man I need to read more about. If you follow my reviews you know that I love myself some men who are a bit broken, slightly dangerous, and a little cray cray. Well, Feury has that covered in spades! Feury has a past and Bleu knows about it and I need much more of both of them.

Driven by vengeance, Harbin treads the dark path of an assassin but his newest mark isn’t quite what he expected and the beautiful snow leopard awakens a fierce hunger inside him in this pulse-pounding paranormal romance.

When trouble walks in the door in the form a sinfully handsome assassin, it stirs up the nightmares of Aya’s past but it just might give her a shot of putting those ghosts to rest and the reader can’t help but get sucked into the whirlwind of events as Harbin and Aya chase the vengeance they both crave. The chemistry between them ignites in a fiery inferno of desire but their personal demons places them both on opposite sides which leaves little chance for this relationship to take hold. Strong, charismatic characters demand the reader’s attention while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps pulses pounding with lots of suspense, action and romance.

Betrayals, secrets and personal issues keep tensions high throughout the story as excitement builds and the vengeance against the Archangel members that Harbin and Aya crave brings lots of danger to both of them, not to mention they are have conflicting agendas. The story is brought to life by well written scenes and vivid details that make it easy for the reader to become completely caught up in the story as the intriguing, action-packed events draw the readers is and refuse to let go with unexpected twists keeping everyone guessing.

There is never a dull moment to be found in this story and I have to say that there was so much going on that I couldn’t believe I had read it that fast, I didn’t want it to be over, but as I looked at the clock, I realized that I had just been so caught up in the story that I had no idea that much time had passed…I guess it’s a good thing everyone can fend for themselves around here.

Another great installment... this series is still one of my favs! Felicity Heaton has a talent for keeping us on our toes and leaving us wanting more with each book. This one has me waiting in anticipation for the Incubus/Huntress storyline... are we getting one?? I hope so...
AND... I CAN'T WAIT FOR BLEU'S STORY!!! I know it's coming soon... the author has promised us it will. I'm positive that the wait will be worth it... :)
This book is bringing us back to the shifter world again and we follow the story of Harbin, brother of Cavanaugh who me met in a previous book. Harbin is now living a life on the dark side after being banished from his pride many years ago. He is now an assassin and his new mark is about to change everything and set him on a path he had not expected. Aya is his mark, and as the story unfolds he finds that they have a connection that had been long forgotten, but is now finding it's way back to the surface. This powerful connection that forms between them has Harbin doubting his ability to fall through with the task he's been hired to fulfill.
One thing I love about this series is the clever way the author ties in previous books and characters in a way that puts small pieces of puzzles together which helps me to make sense of things that have already happened. You get glimpses of characters and scenes you've read in other books but get to experience them from the perspective of another character. She also always finds a way to introduce new characters that leaves us wanting to know more about them which for me works in keeping me anticipating further installments.
This is a great series for the PR fan because you get a little bit of everything... witches, elves, vampires, shifters, demons all mixing with the human hunters. There are plenty of characters to keep you entertained along with a really engaging storyline and lots of steamy romance to make it all worthwhile. And my FAVORITE part of the series... the strong, kick your butt female characters! There are no female doormats in this series. These ladies can fight and they always manage to drive their potential mates a little cra cra which adds a little bit of amusement to the pairings in each book.

Great PR series and one I highly recommend... :)

A weak 2 stars

This book was a lot of re-hashing. A lot of internal conflict that was never voiced until the very end. A lot of back pedaling and angst and confusion. It just didn't flow well. There's a plot twist that didn't really make sense. It was kind of a mess, in my opinion. Seriously couldn't get into it and skimmed the last 20%.

Marked by an Assassin is one of my favorite books in this series. It pulls in most of the previous characters into the storyline. I love the different ways of seeing a scene I have read before from a different set of characters viewpoint. For some reason for me it's like being in a room and being able to read everyones thoughts at that exact moment in time. It's exhilarating.

Harbin and Aya are both equally strong characters and the author had me guessing till almost the end about who the mysterious person of the opposite sex was that dramatically changed each of their lives. It took me a while to figure it out because the author kept my mind occupied with all the fast paced drama and twists to the story. I love the fact that her stories are not predictable and include very in-depth descriptions keeping the reader enthralled to the last word.

I give this 5 STARS because it was a dramatic fast paced action with a beautiful story of forgiveness, redemption and lost love.

Firstly I would like to thank the lovely Felicity Heaton & Carmel (her assistant) for kindly providing me with a copy of " Marked By An Assassin " to read and review.

I've probably said this before and I'll say it again, Felicity's work is incredible, I've always FLOVED this series, and I get enthralled completely from the beginning.

This story follows Harbin, the dark and sexy brother of Cavanaugh (we met Cavanaugh in Craved By An Alpha, Book #5 ), we see Harbins stint in the Archangel compound where he was in the cell with Loke (we met Loke in Taken By A Dragon, Book #7 ), yeah we get to see that but from Harbins point of view, and Aya, a female snow leopard, which unbeknown to Harbin in the beginning, is from the same pride as he....can he remember her?

Assassin
Killer
Murderer ....

These are just a few names Harbin goes by, being one of the deadliest and efficient assassins will get you there, but when a hit comes in a form of his species, he can't not be intrigued...

Who was it?
What did they do to deserve the kill?

There's only one way to find out, and take the job for himself, he would hunt this person and kill them, end of, no if's, no but's.....of course that is until who he learns is the hit he needs to hunt and kill.

"He wasn't the male she had grown up with, the one who had never stopped smiling and had relished every challenge the mountains had thrown at him, tackling it with glee. He was no longer carefree and full of light and laughter. He was darkness embodies, dangerous and deadly, a shadow of the male he had once been."

The hunt and kill blocks his pain, his past, his memories, of a time where he betrayed his pride, causing huge amounts of blood to be shed and families to be torn apart.

Harbin and Aya have a history and combine that with what happened in-between the childhood to them becoming full adults you end up with an irresistible male lead and a spitfire heroine

"He growled and kissed her again, his love surrounding her and flowing through her, mingling with hers. The love that they shared as fated mates, bonded forever. A love that would always grown stronger. A love that was eternal."

Can Harbin and Aya resist the passionate fire that blazes between them?
Will they get the vengeance they both crave?
Or will they surrender to their deepest desires?

Also I'd like to note that Hartt and Fuery were a curious pair, hopefully we’ll see more of them in the future??

Once again, a great addition to the series, and I can only wait for the next instalment.

Harbin - snow leopard shifter, assassin. Exiled from his pride and driven by vengeance, he is on the hunt to avenge the murder of his mother and sister. When a contract to kill a another snow leopard comes in, he can’t resist. He needs to know why a peaceful species now has a price on their head. Little does he know it’s a female and not just any female. It’s one he knows!

The latest couple in the Eternal Mates series is Harbin and Aya. I really liked them both. There interactions are both steamy and tense. Aya completely threw me for a loop. I LOVE when the unexpected catches me off guard. As their separate backstories come into play, I started to get the importance of their species. Not sure how I was NOT paying attention to them both being snow leopards. Everything is action packed and has a great build-up that all comes to a satisfactory ending. One that has me ready to read Marked by an Assassin all over again.

A note about the secondaries. There is a scene that occurs that, and I don’t want to go into details giving it away, but if you haven’t read any of the previous titles, none of the secondaries will seem very important. They are! In addition, there is a whole slew of other scenes in this book that overlap with the other books, so as much as all this titles work well as stand-alone, there comes a time when they don’t. One more thing about the secondaries. My favorite has been replaced by Hartt and Fuery. I use to adore Bleu and could not wait for him to get his HEA, but with the introduction of Fuery, well let’s just say HE of all the characters needs a happy ending.

I’ve been reading this series from the very beginning and let me tell you there certainly are a lot of kitty-cat breeds of which I never seem to get tired of. There’s a nice balance with elves and dragons to keep this series from being all about the felines. Bonus points for each book being able to read as a stand-alone. At least from the romance point of view. In the background is the battle all these eternal mates are waging against Archangel. There’s a slow build up to it that I know is going to be explosive. Two thumbs up for Marked by an Assassin, Ms. Heaton. Can’t wait to see where you take thing next.

Let me start by saying that I'm seriously addicted to Felicity Heaton's books and this series so I couldn't wait for this. I wasn't disappointed.

This book follows Harbin, snow leopard shifter and brother to Cavanaugh, who we've met previously in the series, and Aya, a female snow leopard.

Harbin is an assassin based in the depths of hell. He is intrigued that the new mark is another snow leopard and is eager to take the job. He doesn't realise at the time how this will influence his future and maybe give him a chance to bury some of the ghosts of his past.

I enjoyed getting to know Harbin and finding out what made him tick. He is a pretty complicated character who is bitter and angry about his past but he does hide a good, honourable side which I don't think he likes to admit. At least not at first anyway. I liked his character a lot. He's flawed but not unworthy.

Aya is equally as good. She's strong and smart but also sweet. They make a perfect pair.

I enjoyed meeting other characters from previous books and I liked seeing events that we had seen in the other books from a different point of view. It was a great extra dimension on the story. I also enjoyed meeting other characters which I'm sure will feature more prominently in future books.

The writing was great, the story flowed well. It sucked me straight in and I finished in one sitting. There was plenty of action and romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish and can't wait for the next book in he series. I would definitely recommend to all pnr fans :)

This series is become of my favorite paranormal romance series. I love how it is completely different from the other series that I'm reading right now. I'm a very character driven reader and Felicity Heaton writes some amazing characters. Everytime she introduces a new character, I want to learn more about them.

Both Harbin and Aya have a troubled past. They both have revenge on the mind. Harbin gave his life to a group of assassins so that he would have some way to make a living while still working on trying to get his revenge. Aya spent most of her time within Archangel. She eventually gets released, but she now has revenge of her own and is working with Archangel to get it.

Once again, Heaton has built on to the amazing world that she has been building throughout the series. She also continues to have the phenomenal characters. The storylines truly draw you in. Even with the shorter storylines of the novellas, the romance isn't overly rushed.

As per usual with me, I fell for a secondary character. I know that everyone is hounding for Bleu's story. With the introduction to Fuery, I think he has topped Bleu for me. His story is intriguing me. Fuery is one of the assassins that Harbin worked with who is damaged. I so want to hear his story. Ms. Heaton, you can be sure I will start hounding about Fuery's book until it appears on my ereader.

Amazing story! I love this series! each book just gets better and better and Felicity Heaton makes every story raise hairs and curl your toes all at the same time.

I love shifter stories and the snow leopards in Felicity's story really drew me in with their heartbreak and sadness. I really loved Cavanaugh and Eloise's story in Craved by an Alpha which I thought was heart-wrenching enough! Harban and Aya's story tears your heart up and spits it back out! so much sadness and loss.

I liked how you got to see some of the battle at Archangel from a different perspective. When we saw it from Loke's point of view in Marked by an Assassin we only see Harbon as someone crazy who talks to himself...lol...we also got the reasons for why they were there in the first place which filled in some much needed holes.

I have always loved Felicity's bold writing style and dark, romantic and occasionally all out there characters. I would really like to see what happens with Fuery, he is such an intriguing character and I would love to see him get the help he needs like Vail did in Tempted by a Rogue Prince.

Felicity is an incredible author and I can't imagine ever being without her amazing imagination! if you haven't had a chance to read one of her stories your totally missing out!

Aya and harbin

Harbin is a snow leopard exiled by his father as he was blamed for a tragedy in his pride. His now an assassin, his gladly been killing known people from archangel and any other contracts his guild has taken on. His guild contains demons and the leader is an elf.

Harbin is scarred through fighting, has piercing silver eyes and silver hair. He also has a new mark to track down.

Aya is also a snow leopard, she has had her memories twisted, she may just be puppet in somebody else's game.

The romance in this book didn't go as quick as other books, yes there was longing but they both kept a distance from each other, maybe on purpose or it might be there was such a lot going on! I loved 'rumble in the jungle' in underworld, I love seeing previous main characthers show up.

It was great seeing two snow leopards fall for each other, I love it when different species match up but this was just really sweet seeing childhood sweethearts getting another chance.

The ending they want does not come easily, lots of fur will fly and fists will meet! There's lots of testosterone in the air, especially at the nightclub Underworld.

A great story and strong, interesting characthers keep you turning pages.

Another fab eternal mates instalment.

4.5 stars

Although this is part of a series, it is easily read as a stand alone.
Harbin is a snow leopard shifter. Unlike most of his kind, he is also a cold and calculating killer. Since a human woman betrayed him, and caused the deaths of many in his pride, he has sought vengeance. He works as an assassin for hire, and in his free time hunting the humans from Archangel that destroyed his life.
Aya is also a snow leopard shifter, and now someone has put a contract out on her. Harbin will not allow any of the other assassins to kill a snow leopard. As he is tracking her he wonders what she could have done for someone to want her dead.
When Archangel raid a Fae nightclub everyone's plans are changed.
If you have read the other books you might recognize some of the things that happen in this one, but they are told from a totally different point of view. The emotional mental struggle that Harbin deals with sometimes make his thought a bit chaotic.
Aya, just who is she really, and what does she really want? A lot of past pain is resurfacing for both of them.
As usual from this author, we get lots of action. In the bedroom and on the field of battle. The fight scenes will have you ducking out of the way. I leave to your imagination what the sex scenes do. There are lots more potential heroes waiting on the sidelines. I for one will be impatiently waiting for their stories.

REVIEW
We get the next couple in the Eternal Mates series and oh, my are they hot. I have enjoyed this series and I think I found my favorite so far.

Harbin is an Assassin and is sent on the mission find a cat shifter. A snow leopard of all things. Well this just boils his blood considering it is what Harbin is. His boss Hartt is refusing to give him the job and he is not sure why that is?
While at the club, Aya meets the eyes of one of her kind. She was getting her groove on with a male Vampire and noticed the smell of one of her kind. A male of her kind who was injured. She had no idea what was going on but she is soon to find out.
When Harbin and Aya get together sparks will forever fly for this couple. Fantastic story in this series. Very well written and you get just the right amount of action, love and mystery.

This is the story of Harbin and Aya - two snow leopards with an entwined past of love, hurt, betrayal, and tragedy. Harbin is Cavanaugh's younger brother and Aya was his first kiss before tragedy struck their village.

This story was fantastic, with smooth writing, intricate twists and plenty of action. However, it was made all the more be the amazing characters, with their thirst for revenge and vengeance, and the atrocities they have survived which turned them into the people they are today.

This is an excellent addition to the Eternal Mates series. I would recommend that you read the previous books in this series, simply because they are fantastic, but they do also hold a general overall arc with some characters and organisations. Absolutely - and with no hesitation - recommended.

Probably closer to a 3.5 stars as I liked it as much as the last book and Cavanaugh's book. They're all pretty close to a 4 star rating which is why they're all at that point, but compared to others in the series they weren't quite what I was looking for. I think my issue is it's been so long since I was anticipating the couple for that book. I've wanted Bleu for so long now it's dampened my spirits, and now I'm up to that I'm super worried I won't like it like I want to haha! I'm now hoping for a book in the future (none of these right now have books) for Fuery and a few other characters. Still a really great series, and I honestly NEED more demon's as the main characters I think. I'm hoping the vampire one will be just as alpha because I think that's what these were missing.

I'm a huge fan of the Eternal Mates series, I've been reading Felicity Heaton's books for a long time now & I always eagerly await each of her new releases so I was excited to get my hands on Marked by an Assassin. Unfortunately this book just didn't work for me as well as I expected it to, it's not a bad story by any means but it didn't live up to my expectations and I think it was the weakest instalment of the series so far. That could partly be down to the fact that we didn't know either of the two main characters, Harbin is Cavanaugh's brother and his name sounded familiar but I don't recall much about him from previous instalments and I'm pretty sure Aya is an entirely new entry to the series. I'm all about new characters to keep a series fresh but there are so many character's that I'm already invested in and desperately waiting to read about that this book felt a little bit like a filler.

I actually liked both of the main characters, Harbin and Aya have a complicated history that goes back to a horrific attack on their snow leopard pack years ago. Harbin was conned by an Archangel huntress into giving them his pack's remote location and Archangel destroyed the entire village murdering most of the women and children and taking the survivors prisoner. Aya survived the massacre only to be taken captive and she spent years being tortured and tested on by Archangel. They told her that Harbin willingly betrayed the pack and she has spent years blaming him and planning her revenge. Harbin on the other hand has spent his time searching for the huntress who was really to blame and he will do anything to make her pay for what she did. Aya has every reason not to trust Harbin and he is absolutely convinced that he doesn't deserve happiness after his actions caused so much pain and suffering so their relationship isn't going to be straightforward but if they want to track down the people who are really responsible for what happened then they're going to have to work together.

I enjoyed seeing Harbin and Aya reconnect and it was good to see them work through their issues but I think I would have liked a little more discussion between them about what had happened. The same goes for the first time Harbin and Cavanaugh meet since the night their pack was destroyed. I was pleased with the way Cavanaugh welcomed his brother with open arms but think they needed to actually talk about what happened rather than just push it to one side. Especially since it was something that was constantly on Harbin's mind, to the point where his internal monologue started to irritate me. I was also a bit disappointed by the backwards direction that Archangel seem to be taking, we all know that the association has done some horrific things in the past but I thought they'd started turning a corner now. I think the time line of this story might coincide with one of the earlier books though so that could be what caused the confusion for me.

Like I said Marked by an Assassin wasn't a bad story, Harbin and Aya make a cute couple and the sex was definitely hot but I wanted a bit more depth to their emotional connection and to see them really start to put the past behind them. I think I just have high expectations for this series and this one fell a little short of the mark. I'm still very eager to read the next book though and I'll definitely continue to stalk Felicity Heaton's new releases!

I have been following the Eternal Mates series from the beginning as such I am completely invested in the characters that I have encountered as a result. Marked by an Assassin, which is book #8 in the series was no exception. One may expect that after reaching this far in the series, there is nothing more that could be written to keep readers interested, however, this is not the case. Each story just keeps getting better and better. There are so many interesting characters that one cannot help but wonder if they would be getting their own story. It would be interesting to know what makes them tick.In the first couple of chapters, the author provides sufficient background information on the main characters which helped to set the pace for the remainder of the story. The story is filled with sufficient action, drama and romance to keep readers interested from start to finish.Marked by an Assassin is Harbin’s and Aya’s story. They are both snow leopard shifters. Harbin is Cavanaugh’s brother. Cavanaugh’s story was told in Craved by an Alpha. The history that existed between Harbin and Aya is what led to their current situation. A situation where Aya wants revenge against Harbin for what she believed was betrayal and Harbin wanting revenge against the Archangel huntress responsible for the decimation of his pride. To help achieve his goal Harbin had joined the guild of assassins. Being a part of the guild is what led to him crossing paths with Aya once again after forty years as someone had taken out a contract on her life. From the moment their paths crossed it was evident that they were attracted to each other. They tried fighting it, but it proved difficult, especially when they discovered they were each other fated mate. Will they give in to their desires or will their need for revenge, prevent from ceasing their destiny. One cannot help but like Harbin. He is bitter and angry about the events of his past. He came off as cold and ruthless, but as the story progressed it came to light that beneath that cold and emotionless exterior existed a man of honour and compassion. Aya proved to be Harbin’s equal in every sense of the word. She is strong, smart and compassionate. It was easy to see why they complemented each other so well. The writing is what I have come to expect from this author. The story grabs your attention from the first chapter and holds your interest to the very end. You can't help but feel as if you are a part of the story. The action was intense and the romance was heartwarming. One of the things I like about this series is the all the books can be read as a stand-alone and this one is no exception. If you have not read any of the books so far I would recommend that you do so now. A note of warning the moment you begin reading you need to be prepared as you would not be able to stop at just one as this is series that keeps you enthralled and leave you wanting more.I Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.I was not offered an incentive nor was I compensated in any size, shape or form. This review represents my honest opinion of this title.

It's no secret that I'm a bit of a paranormal junkie - I love the genre and Shifters in particular, so this installment of the Eternal Mates series was right up my street!!

I have a real love of the world that Felicity Heaton brings to life in this series. Her layering and world building makes it easy to picture in your mind the scenes in the book as they play out. There's an overlap of other stories that can be found in each book, it's subtle but ties together very nicely and gives you a 'Oh yeah, that happened in xxxx's story' moment when you are reading. For me, this continuity and the consistent timelines that Felicity threads through the books all add to the story arc.

Marked by an Assassin is Harbin and Aya's book. Both are snow leopards living far from their homeland but they have a connection - in more ways than one!!

The Assassins Guild that Harbin works for has been hired to hunt down and kill a snow leopard, a task that our hero makes sure he gets to take on as he is intrigued as to what the shifter has done to warrant the hit. At first, he doesn't recognise Aya as one of his pride as he's been gone from his village for two decades after being used and duped by an Archangel huntress. He has become hardened and cold since the events all those years ago and is determined that he will carry out his job and it'll be nothing more than another assignment, even though the mark is another snow leopard, but when he encounters the female things don't go quite to plan.

Aya lives in London, keeping her head down and flitting among the fae, and has done since not long after the night the Archangel team decimated her village and killed their kin. She seems to be a mark in this game but as things progress Harbin stats to wonder, is she as innocent as she seems or is there more going on that at first glance?

The story is action packed as you'd expect from Ms Heaton. There are secrets and lies, betrayals, a deep need for revenge on both their parts but is it for the right reasons? The connection and chemistry between our leads is obvious pretty much from the start though it takes one of them a little longer to realise what's going on and when the penny finally drops they have to make some tough choices and decide what they should do for the best.

We meet up again with some of the characters we have already been introduced to in the series so far and get a glimpse into one or two characters who I'm hoping will have their own stories to tell in the future! ;)

Another great read and addition to the Eternal Mates series. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

For me it's a 5* read!

*4.5 Stars*

I've come to expect a few things from Felicity Heaton - a compelling story, well-developed charatecters, brilliantly choreographed action scenes, and emotion. She delivered all the goods in Marked by an Assassin.

Harbin lost so much twenty years ago. Those losses changed him. They allowed him to embrace the darker part of himself - seeking vengeance against those who took from him, dealing in death. He has a new mark now and it's a surprising one. Someone he didn't expect to see again.

Aya was taken captive twenty years ago - a fateful night for her pride. She was eventually released by Archangel but not before they explained a few things behind her abduction. Those reasons have been haunting her for seventeen years.

Heaton did a phenomenal job in bringing Harbin and Aya together. The plot threads woven in also play into the overarching plot and really captivated me. The imagery Heaton conjures with her prose never fails to deposit me right into the scenes. That, along with the well fleshed out characters, makes for an exciting and satisfying read.

Since this is #8 in the Eternal Mates series, I'm familiar with all the cast. So it was a delight to get glimpses of some of my favorites as well as getting an idea about possibilities brewing between two cast members in particular.

I'm eager for more Eternal Mates, more of the characters I've come to love. I'm anxious for several of the cast to find their mates and I'm curious as to where this is all going to lead in the end. Whatever comes next, I know Heaton will make it worth my while.

Another Fantastic installment in the Eternal Mates series. ! It can be read as a standalone for those wanting to venture into it!

Marked by An Assassin gives us Harbin and Ava’s story. This book follows Harbin, a snow leopard shifter and Ava, a female cat shifter. Harbin is on a mission to find out why anyone would want this shifter killed.

He is an assassin for hire and will not let anyone kill her until he finds out why !

Marked by An Assassin is a story with Lots of kick ass scenes, smoking hot loving, and suspenseful page turner with many twists.

Scenes played out that were in previous books were shown from a different prospective, in this book and I found this was a great bonus. The opening chapters give us a lifetime of history so to speak in a short spurt but very worth the key points and information setting up the plot for the story to unveil.

As always this author delivers her characters hot, strong yet broken in their own ways.

The action delivered always holds a punch, and the sex scenes are combustible! Dam smoking hot, sexy and consuming: D

The mysterious person had me wandering throughout but this kept me curious to read on and find out! What and who!

As always the story is fast paced, with twists and turns to keep us hanging on! Unpredictable as always and as I have always said Felicity is the Queen of visual. When reading her books her stories are always easily envisages as though I was right there. Rather than among the pages.

I enjoyed all the secondary stories and I am sure that Felicity has more for us in store.

A Suspenseful, captivating paranormal romance entwined with grudges , romance, mystery and intrigue. Marked by an Assassin is a story filled with strong willed characters, characters that make you cringe, well paced romance and on the edge of your seat suspense.

RATING: C+

Harbin, a broody alpha snow leopard shifter/assassin was exiled from his clan when his libido leads to devastation by the enemy, the Archangels. He becomes an assassin for survival and to atone for his failure by using his skills to kill every Archangel he comes across. When he learns of a hit being placed on another snow leopard, he demands the mission and soon realizes this woman is his mate. Aya has spent seventeen years in hiding, craving vengeance for the loss of her loved ones. When the situation presents itself, she takes advantage only to learn she has been played and now must find away to stop the events she has placed in motion. A hardened tortured assassin’s latest kill target is his mate? WHAAAA? Gimme. Enjoyable to a point, the problems I had with the story is it was extremely slow to start off. There is a lot of emotional and descriptive prose that weighs the story down. Also very repetitive. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times we are told the same thing over and over and over again. Harbin has a lot of guilt and we are subjected to multiple scenes where he ruminates over his past in great detail. On a good note, the characters are vibrant and well developed. The storyline engages & Heaton provides plenty of subplots to hype the interest for future stories. once Harbin snaps out of it, the action and intrigue picks up and the story flies like the wind as our hero and heroine band together to stop the villains and learn to forgive one another and themselves.

{ARC received from the author in exchange for a honest review}

Felicity Heaton is one of my all time favorite authors, her love for writing and talent comes alive through her stories. She is just an amazing writer. Each book each series just has you wanting more.

The Eternal Mates Series Amazing set of stories, with now book 8 Marked by an Assassin. Each of us has a past some can move on, other move on a bit slower. Grief, desolation, guilt and loneliness can keep a person down. Then comes a time for love, passion and trust. Just jumping in and take the risk, doing something so unlike you. For something that make yield your greatest reward.

I love Felicity’s characters, you cant help but get to know them and to feel for them. You want to jump in the book and help them and sometimes shake some sense into them. The males sexy hot strong and stubborn to fault, but the females more than their worthy counter-parts. Aya will prove that, in watching how she overcomes a devastating past.

A game is afoot! What will it cost one of the greatest Assassins? Harbin has never not got an mark. He is good at what he does and has the scars to prove it. He has a few scars unseen and a past that eats at him and keeps him in a dark place.

Some romance and some steamy hot scenes, more than a few what just happened, some aw moments. All to be brought together for a wonderful 8th book in Felicity’s amazing series. Marked by an Assassin can be read as a stand alone, the series is awesome so start at the beginning, it will be well worth your time.

I love reading Felicity Heaton books, her Paranormal Worlds take you away from the normal everyday stresses and drag you into her Worlds with a jolt, I'm a massive fan of Felicity and her books are outstanding.

Now having said all that I found this book Harbin's & Aya's story a little hard to get into, I don't know why, I'm thinking it's because of the whole history catch up of their lives at the beginning of the book, I just couldn't get into it with the usual enthusiasm that I normally have for Felicity's books. However having said that once I got past the first couple of chapters I was one again captured by Felicity's writing.

Felicity Heaton always gives so much detailing in her books and you always imagine in your mind that you are there front & centre in the middle of it all fighting with the characters, now that's what I love about Felicity's books being drawn in & captured hook, line & sinker!

The connections between the main characters are amazing, the book is action packed, the fight scenes are outstanding, there's plenty sexual chemistry too.... " OH BOY "
Look out for the shower scene.....Hot Hot Hot!!!!

All in all the book was pretty amazing, I can't say it was one of my favourites ( but then I do have quite a few favourites of Felicity's already ) but still an awesome read, and definitely one for readers who love Paranormal Romance.

I did receive an ARC copy for an honest review ( but I did purchase my own copy)

I was given this ARC in return for an honest review. Marked by an Assassin is book 8 of the Eternal Mates series. This was an excellent read and I couldn't put it done till the end.
Marked by an Assassin is the story of Harbin and Aya. Harbin is a snow leopard turned assassin. Aya is also a snow leopard working at a bar away from her pride.
A snow leopard was marked for assassination and when Harbin found out he forced he way on to the assassination team. When he found out who the mark was he decided to find out why this snow leopard was marked and who set up the mark on the snow leopard.
Harbin and Aya team up to find who and why, a passion flares between them and they have to fight that passion to survive the investigation. Aya realizes that Harbin is her fated mate and she is scared of what that may mean.
To find out the rest of the story go grab your copy of Marked by an Assassin.
I give Marked by an Assassin 5 stars and would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances. I can't wait for the next installment to this series.

Man that was one great book. I love the Eternal Mates series.
This book is about Harbin, Cavanaugh's Brothers story. Who
we get to see in this book too. Harbin was exiled for leading
Archangel to his pride. Now twenty years later he is hunting
a snow leopard marked for assassination. Aya has a
contract out on her life, but is she aware it is? But Harbin
is not sure what to do about this contract, as he is having
strange feelings for her. And he does not know what they
mean. Aya dose though she is his mate, and she is having
a hard time with that. As she believes he is responsible for
all that has happened to her. Wait till they both discover who
is really to blame. This book answered some questions from
a previous book too were they all land in underworld. Now
before I ruin this you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy
this book as much as I did. I can not wait for the next book.
If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review.
The Authors really like it when you do,
they value your opinions too.

This is such a GREAT series and this book is a wonderful addition to it. This book can be read as a stand alone, however, the books all make more sense if you read them in order as they all run together. Whether you are familiar with the series or not I highly recommend reading this book. I have read a few different series by this author and I'm not sure I can say that this is my favorite series by her but it is definitely up there in that vicinity. The author is one of the ones that can pull you into the story and make you identify with the characters. That's what happens in this book as well as the others. You laugh, get sad and just flat out want to not like some of the characters but you just can't do that because you relate to the reasons behind their actions. This is a book that is definitely worth reading.
