What happens when you’re the daughter of the most feared assassin known to mankind? After having to flee her family home in New Zealand at age eight, Alaina Vance knows very little about her parents. She now lives an uncomplicated life—in her final year of college—with her hardest decision being what drink to order. That is until she meets Zane Mathews. The sexy and domineering president of Sinful Souls MC. Her whole world as she knew it starts to flip before her very eyes. As everything that she thought she knew was really nothing at all.
Have you ever found a book on your kindle and you had no idea what it was but started reading it anyways? I have no clue how i got this book and it took me a little while to decide to check it on goodreads. I never heard of it before but why would I have it if it’s not on my tbr? Turned out it wasn’t and many of GR friends dnf. Most reviews weren’t encouraging. I read around 55% before giving up and since the plot is silly, the writing awful, and the characters one-dimensional, I decided to rate it and just 1 star since it doesn’t even deserve the benefit of doubt. Needless to say, I don’t recommend this book at all.
==>UPDATE: The author greatly improves the way to write it in other books. Worth giving a chance to the author! -----------------------------
I found the plot interesting so I started reading but gave up. I'm not a Nazi of grammar but the author doesn't know the difference between you're and your. What makes it hard to read for those with as first language the Portuguese.
I LOVED every aspect of this book from the storyline to the main characters, the secondary characters, EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
Zane, OMG, talk about a sexy as sin alpha male, whoa, he was insanely HOT and SEXY and the all consuming love he had for Alaina was breathtakingly beautiful on every level.
LOVED this book and diving straight into Vicky and Blake's now:)
Yea sorry but this is not for me. This would have been a fantastic story if the author had taken time to write it instead of word vomit. It almost became my first DNF. Way too rushed. It seems the story was at one day and then the next page was 3 weeks later. Wish people would stop pushing these stories so fast.
It just needed to be slowed down and I didn't feel connected to the characters.
And the winner is...please I need all the guts to have a book and in actually interested in dad story too. I need it all...but. Please all the true MC groupies need an Elvira...we need that constant un filtered supporting character that goes to the beat of the what ever I fucking want to do and does it,,,,,,,
So the meeting of Zane and Alaina, Zane was sent to protect Alaina by her father, Zane knew even after seeing her photos he had a connection and was in trouble, first he had to get to see her without raising suspicion as to why he was there.
Alaina hadn't seen her parents since she was 8, sent away for safety reasons, she thought they were dead so being told by her one night stand he and his MC had been sent to protect her and she had to move to the club house she was nothing more than pissed and angry at Zane, she felt a connection but he had lied to get close to her.
I thought the angst could of been played out a bit more, let a guy work for it at least. Alaina easily caved and I thought there declaration love was premature to. A lot of things could of been expanded where she was sent to when she was a girl, what her dad was involved in to send her away, how had Zane ended up in an MC quite a few unanswered questions I was left with.
This had potential to be great if more in depth but what it was, was a quick read that just got to the point with angst, action, danger and hotness.
Despite me wanting it to be more I loved it none the less. The characters were great, making me wan't to know more about them in there own books so definitely a series I want to follow.
This book was cute. I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure what the original published copy was like, I received this after changes were made by the author.
This is an insta-love story, however, the book is really short so I tend to give leeway in quick reads.
This is book 1 of the Sinful Souls MC (Alaina and Zane's story). Zane is the President of the club and is called by Alaina's father, who is the most feared Assassin, to watch over Alaina because someone is trying to abduct her. This is how their love story begins.
The story itself was good, it flowed, I was entertained unfortunately there are a few things that bothered me.
To much lovey dovey in a very short time. I'm fine with insta love but not when it jumps to marriage and kids and ever after. You just met. Calm down.
Vicky (Alaina's roommate/best friend/story #2) becomes pregnant but the timeline doesn't make sense. One min she's about 3 months and then a month later she's 7 months.
Alaina's lack of emotions in a critical part of the story. For someone who falls head over hills in love with Zane within seconds, I would think her emotions to other more important things in the story would have been done better.
There are moments when the story seemed a bit over the top, but I did laugh, was shocked and also got really sad. I enjoyed all characters and am very interested on what happens next. For a short story to pull out all my emotions, I say is a win.
☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆
I'm really and truly sorry to this author, but, I just could not bring myself to finish this read. While I understood from the beginning that this book moved fast, it moved a little too fast for my taste and made me feel a strong disconnect with the plot line and characters.
I just could not bring myself to understand how rapidly the two MC's developed a "love relationship" whatsoever. There was simply no development. More insta-love more than anything even if the guy was supposedly all "I don't want anything more than just sex with you." Hah.
Not to mention, the characters' personalities themselves. The girl was a doormat. An absolute doormat. The male felt like a typical biker man persona I've read so many times over in books.
And the supporting characters. Blah, I didn't care for them much.
I don't know. I just didn't win in this read at all.
Perilous Love is an MC romance to the max. It has the Sinful Souls MC club figuring out all the secrets behind the woman who stole Zanes heart. Zane and Alaina are an insta love couple who can’t fight the pull to be together. They go through a lot in a short time and their time is filled with the drama you want to read more of! This book was a good quick read!
I received this book for an honest review by the author.
First off my rating will have to be 3.5STARS I mean I could have given it 4STARS but it's an honest enough rating.
Now I don't know where to begin with this story. The characters, the plot or just down right the whole outcome of the story itself. This is actually my first book read by this author and I won't say I'm a little disappointed but just this
blank look on my face. It just felt choppy, like the story line just had this moment where you read about them not knowing one another and BAM she knows his full name like
Look overall, the characters were tolerable and the connection of the story line was there so all I know is that I actually finished this book in one day and it wasn't a stellar hit but it was an OKAY READ even though it was choppy.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Alaina is months away from graduating college, when her roommate brings home the guy she is sleeping with, and his brother tags along. Zane takes one look at Alaina and knows he wants her, but he has been told by Alaina's father that he needs to protect her. This is a fantastic book with hot sex and violence driven by one man's need for revenge. A very exciting, action packed romance. Loved the book.
Well I couldn't put it down once I started reading. Had this read in less than two days. Zane.... LOVED him... he is possessive, strong and loveable!! Alaina is sassy, smart and strong! Together they didn't stand a chance not to fall for each other. I loved the twist and turns and when all is said and done, you're sitting there thinking wow ok then! I am on to the second book to read about Vicky and Blake's story !!
Insta-love, insta-sex, insta-you're mine growl, growl. Silly college age h with an H that has swagger but didn't win me over. There are a lot of 2 star reviews that say my thoughts about under development and a story that is all over the place. I read book 3 of this series first. It was a stand alone and was a 4 star read for me. Book 1 is a disappointment.
Re read and this is one of my fav hot alpha male mc-that's so much more-hot hot man-did I already say that? The ladies are also very sexy funny and have there own life so it's a great series to start
Well I finished the book.......was okay......could of been better could of been worse.....was kinda peiced together for me. Alaina and Zane could of been more of a amazing story but was rushed and fell flat.
I’m not usually one for novellas because they tend to seem really rushed, but I loved this one. It covered all of the bases without feeling like it was a marathon and making me feel like I had only half of the story. I can’t wait to read book two.
There were many aspects of this story that I liked; the couple Alaina and Zane, the suspense with the families, and how it was connected with the MC group added excitement to the book. I felt that this story was a great introduction to what was going to be in store for us. There is one particular character I am extremely interested in! The writing from certain scenes to another was a bit choppy, BUT it didn't take away from the story for me. I think Amo Jones made me like the couple so much, the premise so much, that I was able to just enjoy the action of this story.
When secrets are revealed you feel a bit wounded for those involved and scared for the situation. This made some scenes thrilling and suspenseful. Then you have the sex scenes, and it’s hot. Their kiss is hot, their intimacy is hot, and the whole biker protecting his woman is hot! Alaina and Zane were really likable.
Zane falls for Alaina, but he is very tough. He is the president of his MC. He is book smart, street smart, and off the charts sexy. My favorite scene is after an intense action scene ends, Zane is starts to take in what had just happened, his vulnerable side comes out (bath tub scene) I thought that this scene was moving. I think he was trying to grasp what had happened and what he could have lost.
Alaina, is beautiful, innocent, but not weak or dumb. She is comfortable with herself and sex, so she isn’t a whiny character at all. She has a family tragedy and secrets, which again made the story exciting. She wasn’t a damsel in distress; she took care of herself for as long as she needed to.
There was plenty of interaction between the couple; it was a sexy and exciting read. I really enjoyed Alaina and Zane!
I would say that this story is a good MC book that has all the makings of a good MC series. 3.5 star read!
This book had tremendous potential. Based on the fact that it's this author's first piece of work, I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. So here goes...
The story was good. However, it had some glitches. Everything read very textbook. Very clinical. Emotions didn't factor here and therefore I didn't feel anything for the characters. Even during intense scenes, I just didn't feel anything. There wasn't much detail given about anything. Words were thrown around and I had to make sense of them. From one chapter to the next, it was pretty hard to follow what was going on. Time passed (or didn't pass) and there was nothing to indicate that. With regards to time, there is one matter I can use as a frame of reference . There were many times that I was confused about things that were going on because things were written in a confusing way.
I like details. The more information I'm given, the greater the chance of me connecting with the characters. We meet Zane's mom and find out his dad passed. How??? Alaina mentions she needs to focus on finals that are coming up, but school isn't done for another 2 months. . It was crazy how much information was given and not given.
I get that this book was short, that the author was new, but even the "sex scenes" were lackluster. Insert A into Tab B. Lick Section C.
I wanted more. I can see that this author has the potential for more. I'm willing to read book 2 simply because I have a feeling that the writing can only get better with time. I could see the strength in this writer's efforts and I would like an opportunity to see it shine through her future work.
3.5 stars This book is the first book of Amo Jones that I have read. It did feel like parts of the story were missing at times and I did notice some grammar issues but other than that, the writing style for this story is fairly easy to follow. I liked Alaina. I liked her friendship with Vicky and Jesse and later on, her friendship with Ade. I liked that she seemed to do what she wanted. I will admit that there were times that I couldn’t seem to figure her out. One minute she was scared, the next she came across as strong-minded and independent. She then seemed to be soft hearted and quite weak and then she is suddenly strong, fearless and shooting people without a care in the world. I wasn’t Zane’s biggest fan. He wanted Alaina but then he didn’t, He didn’t want to claim her or want her but he didn’t want anyone else to have her. Throw in him having a wife he was trying to divorce and it just seemed that he didn’t care about anyone but himself. When he was with Alaina, I did like them together and the feelings between them started to show but I was a little confused on my feelings for this book at times.
Complimentary Copy Provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.. Thank you =)
The author did warn me that Book two was better, and I didn't hate this, however I didn't love it. The premise of the story all together was great.. However I found myself re-reading things because the timelines were hopping on and off. As another reviewer mentioned Alaina is starting her last year of college, and then BAM it's final exam time.
So what confused me was the hopping back and forth. Another thing was the heroine herself, she came off strong at first then she practically begged Zane to stick around.. I wish she had stayed stronger.. Zane himself was wishy washy..hot and cold which got on my nerves pretty quick. And then her best friend was just taking shots with her yesterday and the next day she is 7 months pregnant? All together it had a lot of promise, I wish the wife thing had played more of a role, so the angst would have been drawn out...but other than that I am starting book 2! Yay!
Loved this book it is gritty and there are some scenes that people might struggle with but I felt that this added to the story. I enjoy lots of different styles of MC books some are quite sweet. Having been around an MC in my youth they are generally not for the faint hearted. This book is not sweet in the normal sense and with the story line of an MC linked to assassin's you would be mad to think this anyway. What this book does give you is that people are strong in different ways People are not always who they appear to be. True friends are worth having through thick and thin. I loved this book
Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. It was fast pace and just took off from the beginning. I loved all the characters in the book. Can't wait to get more about Vicky and Blake. Zane and Aliana our a perfect couple in this story. I love how she stood up to him and I love that he finally stopped being an ass and just claimed her. The only thing I didn't get was the entire with his ex wife and all. Didn't fit with the rest of everything else going on. It made Zane look like a cheating bastard. I still loved his hot alpha ways and SEX on a stick. Over all Mrs. Jones did an amazing job.
