One fateful day. One horrific act. A life lived in fear and regret.
Beautiful and wealthy, Rebecca has the perfect life. She’s happy. Hopeful. Until the wolf comes knocking at her door.
Now the pawn in a rich man's game, she’s a prisoner in her lavish home. Inside those icy walls lurk dark secrets. Insidious transgressions. An existence rife with treachery and blackmail and danger.
Although she plays her role to perfection, she walks the thin line of her husband’s rule. When a stroke of luck opens the door to freedom, can she find the strength to step through? And is it too much to hope for love to be waiting on the other side?
*Rebecca's Gift is dark and delves into the rawness of life at its worst. If you are sensitive to violence, be warned.
Sharing ones thoughts on paper is an intimate experience, and should not be taken lightly. Some days I fear this process, as my mind can be a scary place to dwell. Other days I realize I'm not alone in this journey, and although the very action of expelling ones deepest thoughts onto paper is intensely personal, it is deeply healing. Funny how that works.
I'm a mom, an animal lover, and adore lightening storms and fireplaces. I recycle, hug trees and sit on the grass whenever possible. I'm grateful for my parents for giving me life, and for my children for making it all worthwhile. I believe in showing kindness to others...just because.
The ideas for this book, and the ones that will follow, came at a time when I was hurting, and needed a release that only writing can bring. As a romance lover, I couldn't make myself write of new love, when it is easy to be in love, easy to be mad for each other, easy to have sex every night. Instead, I found a need inside me to re-connect couples, to shine a light of inspiration into a bedroom that has grown cold.
So I will continue to write, and be a mom, sister, daughter and friend. And read books that take me away or speed up my heart.
Johnson surprised me with this book. Wasn't expecting it to be as dark as it was. I couldn't put the book down, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I felt like I was going through it all with Rebecca. Jake is so evil and hoping he gets his due. Just a warning for possible triggers in this book, but definitely a recommended read!
I received this book free from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. I have read several of this authors works and have enjoyed them immensely. Not so with this one and feeling really disappointed because this author is capable of such a higher quality product.
This is a short story, not a full length novel. It's more like part one of a series. It does leave off at a good spot, but also leaves you wondering WTF? This is a dark twisted story. Be very aware!
This story dives into childhood rape, abandonment and a sexually abusive husband who holds all the control.
On the outside, everyone is envious of Rebecca's life. She's married to a very rich man, lives in a beautiful home and lives a charmed life. however behind closed doors her psychotic husband loves to physically and sexually abuse his wife. She is nothing more than a possession that he can put in a cage for days on end, and demand that she sleep with other people.
Some of the dark raw chapters will really make you emotions spike. It is not a story for the weak of heart. The character development is great, but much of the story line is still in question, leaving us looking to book 2 for answers.

This is an outstanding start to the series. I will warn you that there are menage scenes as well as references to Rebecca being raped
Rebecca is broken inside after being raped by her fathers business partner and being pregnant with his child. Her parents send her away when they don't believe her story about what happened. Rebecca spends her pregnancy and some time afterwards at a home for pregnant teens. When she becomes 18 ahe sent on her way to make it on her own, she gets a job as a photographer for a newspaper and when she meets Jake, who makes her feel safe and loved.
What will happen to Rebeccas world when the real Jake shows up?
Cant wait for the neext book too see where the cliff hanger ending leads up.
Strap on your seat belts for the series, you're going to need it!! What a wild ride!!
Rebecca is from a wealthy family and didn't want for anything. She was a happy child until one day she was home alone. The doorbell rings and she answers it to find her dad's business partner, Richard. Trusting him, she let him in. Big mistake!!! He rapes her and she winds up pregnant! Her parents made her give up the baby and disowned her. Even though she tells them Richard raped her. Jake enters her life and she feels as though he saved her and marries him. Everything was great at first, until she discovers not only does he have deep dark secrets, he's mean. He starts to treat her badly and abuses her. This is a DARK book, holy smokes!!
I'm torn between hating and loving the first volume. Rebecca has been destroyed and left as an empty shell of a woman. Can she put her nightmares to rest? Rebecca's Gift book 1 introduces the reader to a sad reality for so many people. I recommend caution in reading this darker subject matter.
