Book - why you no funny? You let me down, man!

Megan is the whiniest, clingiest, most annoying girl ever. She doesn't let her mate go out to hunt for food for them because she can't stand for him to leave her. Really? I've decided I don't want my husband to go to work anymore so he can hang-out with me all day. I assume this is fine with everyone and they can all give us money since they work...

Megan was pregnant when she was abducted from Earth and her kidnappers stopped her pregnancy. Now she is mated and pregnant again.
As a result, she keeps whining in the whole story and she is totally attached to her mate Cashol.
Cashol is a funny guy and totally into his pregnant wife. He does not want to leave her side, but the people at the cave will be hungry if he does not go hunting.
Before he leaves, he prepares a treasure hunt for his Megan so that she will be occupied until he returns.

This short story is a chance for us to meet a mated couple that does not have a full length novel.
Cute story!

**re-read**
4 1/2 stars. This was a fun look into how Megan and Cashol's life is now that their kit is about to be born. We also get to see Megan still dealing with loosing her first baby when she was taken from earth and her learning to trust in Cashol's love. We also get to see some of Josie and Haeden which made me really happy. This is a fast fun read, that I really liked but to be very honest I like pretty much anything that has to do with the series.

Rating clarification - 3.5; I rounded up because I love this series that much.

Megan + Cashol

Megan and Cashol has already sated their khuis and Megan is heavily pregnant. She is also has heavy baggage and keeps Cashol on a short leash. Because of this, Cashol hasn’t been fulfilling his duties as a hunter. Vektal catches wind of this and sends Cashol out to do his part, leaving Megan upset and alone.

I had a hard time relating to Megan in this one and it definitely effected my rating. She wasn’t annoying, but her views on Cashol providing for her and the tribe were skewed. It ultimately came back to bite her when Cashol is sent away to hunt near her due date.

However, Cashol’s character was an absolute delight. I loved his personality and how playful he was with Megan. His only fault was allowing her to dictate his role in their community. Love is blind and all that, right?

Not a huge fan of Megan. I get that she had issues before but you can't keep a hunter from hunting. He is helping feed everyone in the caves. I can't believe he stayed behind for so long. I can't believe she let him stay behind and when he finally does go out she makes him feel guilty. Not cool Megan. I hate clingy. Yuck.

I'm glad it was short because I was pretty annoyed for alot of the book. Cashol tried to make her smile but she wasn't having it. sigh. I love this series. I love the blue aliens. I did not love this book.

Este pequeño relato no me agrado tanto como esperaba, principalmente porque la actitud de Megan me parecio muy inmadura y egoista, pero la demostracion de amor de Cashol fue tan preciosa, que solo por esa escena vale la pena leer este pequeño libro.

Having the Barbarian’s Baby is a short story in the Ice Planet Barbarians series. It features Megan and Cashol. Megan never got her own book, but ended up mating off the bat.

She’s got some attachment issues. On earth her boyfriend left her alone and pregnant, then the aliens kidnapped her and ended the pregnancy, and now she’s on this alien planet mated and pregnant, afraid to be alone.

Cashol is a sweet, fun guy and total into his pregnant mate. He doesn’t want to leave her side, but he needs to do his far share of the hunting, which he has been neglecting; because his mate can’t stand the thought of him going.

It was a nice short story in the series. Showing one of the couples we didn’t get a full novel on. It was sweet what Cashol does for his mate, a treasure hunt, while he is gone out hunting.

All of these novellas focus on couples that were bypassed in the main books. Cute little “after the HEA” tidbits to keep me satisfied while I wait for the next book to come out. Only to read if you’re a fan of the entire series because they are not standalones.

Missed opportunity for them to have twins so they were both right about the gender lmao, but alas (also Casan would've been a cute name too, but the name chosen is good too). I hope we get a prequel novel with these two though because oh my gosh I love Megan.

Wasn't such a big fan of Meghan in this one, I don't know if she'll get her own book later on in the series, but if she doesn't I don't really mind.

Ahhhhhh. Got my blue alien fix. I was having withdrawals. This is of course, very short but oh so sweet.

Sliiiiightly frustrating premise/plot as Cashol is going on this hunt with Haeden because apparently Megan has been so needy/clingy (which she fully admits to being) she hasn't wanted him to leave her side throughout her 14 months of pregnancy. If she'd just let him do his job early on or even in the middle of her pregnancy this would be a total non issue.

Poor Josie had to be without Haeden for weeks like, RIGHT after they resonated and now she's without him AGAIN so I did like that Megan realized this and admitted to herself how selfish she'd been.

***Without spoiling the first book for any new readers you also have to remind yourself about what was done to her specifically after she was abducted, so her clinginess/fear makes sense in a way.

Cashol is very sweet and funny with his silly baby name suggestions and as always you find yourself dreamily sighing at the devotion and tenderness these blue guys feel for their human mates.

Bring on the next one! Momma needs more spur porn!

Short story about Megan about to birth and her hubby alien being gone right before she pops. I liked Megan's POV because she freely admits she's a neurotic and clingy psycho who never wants Cashol to leave her side. She had a traumatic past + being knocked up and living on an alien planet isn't reassuring to anyone. <3 Cashol. He's like the sweetest alien guy and tends to Megan dearly. Cute story.

"It's snowing," I protest as we get near the entrance. Terror clutches at my heart.
"My resonance, have you just now realized that it snows here?" He leans in and bends down to rub his nose against mine. "You will be very disappointed to learn that it snows every day, my heart."

cute, not enough, but a fun blip of intermittence between the longer plot lines.

I mean, I have my flaws. And my biggest one? I’m clingy as fuck. I acknowledge it. Doesn’t mean I’m changing, but I’m aware of it.

Megan has her reasons for being clingy and Cashol is the perfect mate for her. This was short and sweet and had a new baby. Super cute story!

This Is a cute novella. I wasn't a big fan of Megan for a lot of the book since I don't like her attitude, but I didn't hate her. Cashol was pretty likable though.

I didn't like that Megan and Cashol never spent a night apart for almost 2 years, but all of the other hunters would need to go on long hunting trips and be away from their families for weeks at a time. At least Megan and Cashol both seemed to realize how selfish they were being by the end.

I loved the bits of Josie and Haeden that were in this novella. They're my favorite IPB couple.

3.5 ⭐️

Cute novella. Probably 2.5 stars just because it was short but it was sweet. Especially the end where he made "money" to show her she was basically priceless to him. Cute. A novella to add to my count for the year. Going to try and make it!

Megan and Cashol are so cute! He is funny, too. I enjoyed seeing them and some of their story since they didn’t get a full book… and still haven’t since this is a short story.

Having the Barbarian's Baby is a short story in Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians series and it gives us a chance to get to know two of the side characters Cashol and Megan. They're already mated and Megan is heavily pregnant, due to give birth any day now, so this isn't about the start of their relationship but it does give us some insight into day to day life in the cave.

I did really like Cashol, he was so attentive and protective of Megan and he went out of his way to make life as easy for her as possible but unfortunately I ended up feeling like he was totally wasted on such an awful heroine. Megan drove me bonkers, she was so clingy that Cashol wasn't even allowed to leave the cave to go and hunt for food. This is at a time when their cave has far more people than ever before with the addition of all the human women, not to mention the number of new babies that are on the way. They're approaching winter, food stores are already critically low and this is a planet where winter can be deadly. They need every single capable person out there bringing back as much food as possible or literally the entire population is at a very real risk of starving yet Cashol can't go further than 5 feet from Megan without her having a total meltdown. It might have been more understandable if he would be leaving her totally alone but she was in a cave full of people!

Megan totally ruined this story for me. It was great to catch up with other characters but I ended up feeling sorry for Cashol, he really struck out when his cootie chose Megan as his mate!
