Immunity. Everyone wants it. One man has it. Our hero, if you can call him that, must escape from the government facility he is incarcerated in. Escape the certifiable, alphabet-agency super-spook who seized him and dragged him across the country. Elude an army of doctors and soldiers who think he is the answer to the plague of the living dead. Flee back to his friends, a continent away. Can he safely traverse a ruined United States crawling with insatiable, infected cannibals? Should he stay in the impregnable fortress, do his duty, and submit to the testing in hopes he can save everyone? What’s an immune, arrogant, rude, criminal to do?
But that's ok. The dude is awesome. The book has the right amount of character building and humor and zombie gore that you forget you don't even know his name. I like that this book took us away from our beloved characters of the first book and allowed our Hero to progress in his journey.
The sequel starts with a basement lab full of zombies albeit not sharing a cell with our protagonist who excelled in his crusade to claim the top spot for the most obnoxious heroes. In this book, our protagonist goal is breaking out and returning to his friends ( his only family ). New characters introduced with strong personalities and colorful attitudes which added a fair share of excitement as the pages turned, but I was perplexed. James Bond can get injured, Superman can get punched, and Spider-Man can fell, but Mr Immune can emerge unscathed from every encounter is quite ridiculous. Also, the development of the story is lacking with no clear outline other than let us get hold of this man and run some tests. There is no clear grasp of the storyline trajectory, but kicking zombies and saving children will generate a celebration regardless.
Much stronger then the first in the series, but I'm not certain if Restucci hit his stride or if I just got used to the unlikeable protagonist. (He seems less unlikeable in this installment.) Lots of action and adventure and more humour than the first (or maybe I am more appreciative of said humour). An enjoyable zombie tale.
He lost me at "she made me feel like I was floating on a cloud of t*****s". That gives you an idea of the level of sophistication you can expect from the protagonist. If you can handle it, then go ahead and read it. He's snarky and there's good pacing, with some plot.
I wonder if the mystery of what put him in chokey ever gets solved. Hmm.
If you enjoy a fast-paced zombie story, this will fill the bill. It’s a quick read with humor and great characters. I personally like the military edge mixed in with average folks stepping up to deal with crazy situations.
This book had a lot of combat and scary, mission and struggle. The incident with the sheriff trying to take the truck away it the way he did was a big betrayal to me. And finding kids who survived as long as they did it was a good one for me too hopefully the next one is better.
I am going through a binge listen of this author and this story this worked really well for me, it was quite fun and I did enjoy it - went straight onto the next one. The joys of audio plus categlouge works
I read Run first. Liked it, but didn't love the dialogue assigned to some characters. Okay, the negative is out of the way. I liked the author's style enough to want to read Conspiracy Theory... Boy, was this a great ride! So much so that I am angry the third book wasn't available yet! What's going on with my new friends! Restucci, kindly get your ads in gear and crank out a few more of this series because I am short on something to read while I'm supposed to be working. This series is worth risking a write-up.
This second book in the series does not disappoint. Frankly, no book from Rich Restucci has ever disappointed me, I love this main character just a little more than the rest. The writing style, speaks to me, pulls me in, and forces me to be a part of his world even without that I believe his book could stand just on his ability to describe a scene. Recommended to all zombie/infected apocalyptic, post apocalyptic, or disaster lovers.
If you enjoy Mark Tufo, who is my favourite zombie author, then you will enjoy this series. Sense of humour throughout had me smiling and love the first person perspective, right amount of gore and thrills that had me speed reading, I do try to avoid this, but measure the books I read on how fast they are completed. Then I read them again to get the full story, anyone know when book 3 is out?
This author is fast becoming one of my few favorites. The story is well written, amusing, kind of sarcastic in a wonderful way and the characters rock! The language might offend some but after a couple of chapters, it is just entertaining and one doesn't really even notice it anymore. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series and it better be a series. :)
I love it. Dallas was in it. Now I can't wait to see if both groups meet up. He did it again. Another great book that I couldn't put down. Awesome job on the writing. Tons of action and people dying. For the ones that deserved it, great. But again, I was getting attached to Ray and then, well, you know. I will say it again. Can't wait till the next book!
I'm not much of a reader but when i started reading these book series (both 1 and 2) I got really hooked and could not stop!! it was fun to read and the best part about reading this book was the imagination that pops out like you can see yourself in the storyline. I can't wait for book 3!!! - terry guiterrez (book fan)
Ok i just want to start by saying I LOVE THIS SERIES! Its awesome, yeah i know i said that already but it truly is. This is one of my favs that i know i will read over and over again. Zombies, humor and good vs evil. I mean come how does it get any better! Thank you Mr. Restucci! On to book 3!
Restucci wrote another great story. I didn't want it to end. Now I'm waiting for book 3. I loved the characters, the humor, and the storyline. I highly recommend this book.
I love the action, characters, and the incredible wit of this writer. I laughed, cried, and became so engrossed I could not put this one down. Please hurry up with the next novel super fast! To anyone who loves a great book, look no further.
You like funny, sarcastic non stop action and strangely full size characters start with Chaos Theory and Run then just ride the coaster. I've read dozens of zombie apocalypse novels and Rich Restucci currently has four of the best.
I loved this series there is a lot of action right from the start and continues through he makes you laugh and just about to cry I can not wait for the next one in this series
