I feared that using my magic would bring me closer to the faerie realm I tried so desperately to escape. I was right.

I made a promise to a faerie, and they’ve come to deliver. A powerful talisman has disappeared, and without it, the faeries in this realm are losing their magic. Getting involved wasn't on my plan, but if I refuse to help the faeries find the talisman, I’ll die.

To make things more complicated, shifters are being killed by a mysterious masked faerie, and all signs point to a connection with the missing talisman. To find the killer and help the half-faeries, I must unlock the full extent of the magic I once feared, even if it means leaving the Mage Lord determined to stand at my side. Even if it takes me to Faerie’s most dangerous path…

Ivy lane is a total smack talking — fey fighting — baddie

with Isabel her witch friend, who is adorable as fuck
“There was a popping sound, and a torrent of purple glitter exploded all over the floor. Dammit, Isabel. I’d been joking when I’d said the best way to piss off a trespasser was to throw glitter at him.”

description

With each book, the world-building gets stronger and we are definitely seeing that strict line separating human and fey... start to disappear with the worlds merging and our characters traveling between the two which makes for some great plot twists
“The fire mage scrambled to his feet.
“Whoever heard of a fireproof plant?” he demanded of the universe in general.
“Welcome to Faerie.” I disentangled myself from the thorns, snagging my jacket in the process. “Common sense need not apply.”

And we can't forget our love interest Vance the powerful asshole mage who is more humanized and 3 dimensional now
“Is this what you used to do?” I asked. “You guys hate each other. Before all this madness started, did you always go around pissing off every head of each supernatural community in town?”
“Sometimes I pissed off the ones outside the town as well.”
I burst out laughing. “Vance, I think I’m a bad influence on you.”

The slow burn isn't a lack of trying... its a lack of time, cuz bitches be crazy

I do wish the chemistry between these twos had more ... intimacy to it ?? In addition of the constant fight argue kiss, id love some scenes of the two bonding while practicing fighting and sharing facts that kinda sweet sharing details of their lives together over some great banter

Instead, we keep getting these vague references to future plans AfTeR 3 fUcKiNg BoOkS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“My hand came away covered in dirt. So much for our date. “Next time I’ll be the one to rescue you, I swear. I’ll even carry you out.”
His mouth quirked a little. “I’ll keep that in mind. You need to get home. It’s not safe here.”

Compared to the first two, I love the actual plot of this one a lot more as it really brings Ivy having a role in the action instead of her just throwing herself into danger and figuring stuff out later. Now she actually engaging with some powerful *batshit crazy* characters like Lady of the Tree.

This plot is also setting a more bigger picture for the rest of the series that im definitely going to be continuing to learn more about this world, wait till Vance and Ivy finally fucking get together, and for Isabel to get the goddamn happily ever after she deserves more than any other goddamn character

Mu main critique I’ve mentioned before is still occurring with Ivy still kinda being a bitch and sassing every power player in the city while refusing to take a leadership role herself

But hey at least Vance is her backup now
“Ivy Lane—”
Too late. “Hey, Vance,” I said brightly. “I’m at the Necromancy Guild and Lord Evander is insisting on keeping me in custody on false allegations. I’m sure you’d be happy to come and explain to him that I’m here investigating a murder.”
My heart thudded in the silence following my words. Five seconds passed. Ten. Crap. Maybe I’d finally tipped him over the edge.
Twenty seconds. “I’ll be there.”

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

This series keeps going strong. Faerie Realm was the exciting third book in this series. It kept my attention from start to finish and there wasn't a dull moment. It's fast paced and filled with action and trouble like the first two books and I really enjoyed it. Especially the second half was really good and I just wanted to keep reading. There are some plot points that continue from previous books, so I would recommend to read this series in order. But each book also has it's one plot line/ problem that gets resolved mostly at the end of the book.

I really liked the plot of this one and might have enjoyed this book even more than the previous two. Ivy made a vow to the lady of the Tree and with how vows work for Fae she has to fulfill it or risk dying. And while faeries can't lie, they sure can mislead and the plot has some nice twists. I also liked how Ivy dealt with everything in this book. She can be a bit reckless at times and always speaks her mind, but she's also smart and I liked how she figured out what was going on and did her best to fix everything.

Ivy as a character keeps growing in every book and I really liked how we see her relationship with the Mage Lord develop in this book, it sure was worth the wait. They are great together! And I liked how the events in this book bring them closer together. I also liked how Ivy had to deal with her past and had to face her fears. Her past and fears have been part of the previous books, but they play an even bigger part in this one. I feel like she grows as a character and I like reading about her.

And just like we get to know the characters better in each book we also get to see more of the world. There's a plot line involving the shifters in this book and I liked getting to know a bit more about that. And a twist involving the shifters at the end that was very interesting. We also get to see more from Faerie which was nice as well. And Ivy gets to know her magic a bit more. There are some epic battles involving swords and magic.

To summarize: this was another great book in this series. It's one of those series that starts strong and keeps being strong and even getting better with each book. I really liked the direction this book took, with a new issue for Ivy to solve and some sub plot lines from previous books that continue. There are some interesting twists and a lot of action, magic and danger. I liked seeing Ivy handle the issues in this book and I think she grew as a character. The romance progresses a bit in this book and I liked seeing that. There are also new things we see and get to know about the world. And I can't wait to read the next book as this series continues to be very good!

Not going to lie, I enjoyed the book, and I like Ivy...
I just wish all the magical characters weren't such insufferable pompous asses
As much as I enjoyed the story, it was the same as the books before, so I'm fifty fifty about whether I'll continue the series. The pattern is getting repetitive

I have enjoyed the third book in this series. Lots of action, interest, and mystery. Ivy Lane is a force to be reckoned with... I also love the humor. I can't wait to see what's in store for book 4.

I have already devoured the first two books in this series and was thrilled to get my hands on this one as well.

Ivy's died twice, saved the world several times and left a ton of defeated faeries, monsters and pixies in her wake. . .but the magic world isn't done with her yet. She might be beginning to get a handle on her powers and past, but the faerie world isn't about to give Ivy a break. The faeries are so deliciously scheming, self-centered and ready to trample everything in their path--a never ending head-ache for Ivy. Again, she's faced with unexplained deaths (because Ivy is, after all, a freelance detective of sorts), but her own personal problems aren't something to scoff at either.

Not only is Ivy up against a fantasy rich mystery, packed with dangers, fights and magic, but even the romance moves up a notch. Although we're getting to know Ivy better, this story isn't so much about character depth as simply a fun ride. The action and adventure knows no end as Ivy's thrown from one ridiculously impossible situation into the next. The fantastic mix of magic spells, fairy creatures with attitudes and extremely deadly situations makes this a thrilling ride from front to back.

And the best thing--this isn't the last book in the series. I highly recommend this to fantasy fans, who love a bit darker side to those fairy tale creatures and action that doesn't end.

It's a pleasure to find Ivy's character so endearing, I can't wait to read the rest.

In this third volume, Ivy is afraid to use her magic, because it could bring her closer to the fairy kingdom that she fled before. She promised a fairy to do her a favor and she did. Except that a talisman is missing and without it, the fairies can no longer use their magic. Helping them was not in Ivy's plans except that if she doesn't do it she will die. The icing on the cake is that the shifters are killed by a masked fairy and everything leads us to believe that this has something to do with this famous lost talisman. She will do anything to find this masked being and save the fairies even if it means leaving the Lord Mage and taking the most dangerous path in Faerie.

I'm still hooked on the story so captivating, gripping, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with characters as endearing as ever. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

If you like this kind of series with fairies, action taking place in Faerie, this is the series to read.

Faerie Realm is the third book in the Changeling Chronicles by Emma L. Adams. In the first book, Ivy Lane promised a boon to a faerie in exchange for information about the missing child. She was well aware that when you make a promise to a faerie, it can not be broken. Forced into finding a missing faerie talisman, Ivy will do everything in her power to find it. At the same time, the half-faeries and the shifters are at each other's throats. Shifters have been killed near half-faerie territory. Without someone to blame, the two groups are on the brink of war. With the help of Mage Lord Vance Colton and her flatmate Isabel, Ivy will cross into various realms to find the talesman and to avoid a war.
Overall, this was a thrilling read. I am super jealous of Ivy's energy levels and wish that Isabel's witch spells were real.

Wonderful adventure!

Ivy sure is in a pickle this time. She was forced to make a deal with the crazy faerie which forced her to deal with some of her most traumatizing moments in the Grey Vale. I loved that she didn't give into her fear. It's almost too insane to believe that a human could accomplish all that was put against her.

I especially enjoyed how Ivy and Vance finally got some time together. We complain we never have time to be with our partners but most people don't get together right after almost dying. Still their romantic moments were very sexy.

My only wish was that there was more time with Isabel. She is a great friend and could be put into a larger role.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the series. The story flows well, the pacing & action are just right as Ivy & Vance search for a powerful stolen faerie talisman and try to prevent yet another crazy powerful fae from ripping open the veil and destroying the human world in their quest for power/revenge/domination. What I liked was the character and relationship progression- how Ivy is growing into her power, learning to accept & claim her magic and face her fears a little more in each book, how we learn a bit more about Vance , how Vance & Ivy romance is progressing and how they protect and trust one another and work together.

We see Ivy finally accepting and making the magic her own as she fights to save those she cares about. We learn the secret to the shifters and what Vance's heritage is..
This was a good read and I enjoyed Vance and Ivy finally getting together after so many almost...

Great addition

I love how Ivy and Vance's relationship is developing. I especially lime the way Ivy's powers are growing. The pacing is great too. The only reason it's four stars and not five is that I got a little lost in the explanation of the Lady's plan. I'm still a little fuzzy on what and why and how of the who!e thing. I also think that a few words might have been missing here and there. But despite that, I still enjoyed it very much and will be going right into the next.

I'm not actually very impressed with this book.. I found it boring and actually a let down.. Was just a jumble of things happening.

I did enjoy the whole shes pretty bad ass and most of the time she is bad ass and not just says shes bad ass. There are times when Vance saves her butt but then she does return the favour by saving his. Idk I just didn't feel like this was a strong book I had to make myself pick it up rather than not being able to put it down.

Old magic meets new

Fairies, shifters, necromancers, witches, and mages. All of these play a part in what is happening in this world. None really get along and in there, lies the problem. Shifters are dying and it looks like the fairies have a hand in it but could it really be something else causing the problem.
The twist and turns this book takes makes you want to keep reading. Enjoy the banter that goes on between characters and it is entertaining.

The Lady of the Tree

Ivy is recalled by the Lady of the Tree to honour the promise she made; a vow is a vow and even though the information she gave Ivy lead her into a trap she's obligated to honour it or die.

Apparently there's a talisman which has been brought to this world from the Fae and Ivy has to bring it to her. But the more Ivy learns about the talisman the less inclined she is to do th Lady's bidding.. rightly so as it's not just the talisman she wants..

Some good faerie-ing. The various realms and how they interact are cool. As Ivy grows in power things have gotten quite metaphysical and it’s always the end of the world, not sure where things can go from here.

Losing interest

The fairy bad guys are just too all knowing, to powerful, to be interesting. The romance is negligible and not charming enough to hold interest.
