He got his hands on her, covered her mouth with his. And all the dark voices that seemed to whisper to him all his days quieted. She was his peace.

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with all things Lexi Blake, and ever since I first met the Lawless siblings in Master No, I've been eagerly anticipating their story. Suffice it to say, I was utterly hooked from book one. Ruthless sets off the series with Riley's story. Mia's story was a crossover in Dominance Never Dies. If you haven't yet read the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi, you're seriously missing out. But as always, I digress...

Satisfaction brings the story of the broken Lawless sibling, Brandon. We got a peak into his hidden demons in the first book; Bran has a hero complex a mile long, but you don't know why. You know it stems from an event in his childhood which left him forever scarred, but you don't know what. All we know is that if there's a damsel in distress somewhere, whether stripper or hooker, odds are, Bran is right there trying to help her. He's also the sibling that seems to hide the most scars from his past. When the Lawless siblings were torn apart and thrown into the system after their parents' death, Bran took the brunt of the luck and barely aged out of it intact. Now he fights his demons with his fist and a barely repressed anger and a violence that quickly boils sits below the surface.

Watching the pain his brother's now wife went through in their quest for revenge, he'll be damned if he does that to another woman. So when the Lawless siblings set their sights on Patricia, the 3rd partner that they suspect was behind their parents murder, Bran breaks the plan and unveils the plan to Patricia's assistant who they hope will be the person that helps them bring her down.

Carly Hendricks is coming off of a brutal divorce during which her husband took her for everything. A shy little mouse, her barely existing confidence took a real beating and she has a hard time understanding how a sexy man like Bran could hold even the slightest bit of interest in her. What begins then is a game of push and pull. Bran wants her, but he's not good enough for her. Carly wants him, but doesn't think he wants mousy little her.

As much as I loved the first book in this series, I'm a little bummed that this one paled in comparison. I think my main issue was the couple. I felt zero connection to either Carly or Bran. While I liked Bran as a character, I just had a hard time disconnecting his hero complex from his true feelings for Carly. She was just too much of the stereotype that he would typically try to rescue, so I suppose I had as hard a time as Carly really buying his love for her.

Carly was just too much of a mouse for me. While she does have a backbone that comes out later in the story and I could certainly sympathize with and understand her lack of self esteem, her constant questioning of her appeal wore me down. She was a heroine that unfortunately I'd forget about as soon as I read her. As a couple, they lacked a certain sizzle for me. Sure the sex was hot, but I just couldn't click with their connection.

I found the suspense a bit boring at times too. The beginning and middle sort of dragged if I'm being honest. What DID keep my attention, as always, was Drew. And it didn't hurt that his love interest is introduced here and boy does that set up already crackle with sexual tension. There's a twist at the end that I never saw coming, which definitely added a great punch to the story. I can't wait to see how everything concludes with Drew's book next.

All in all, while it wasn't my favorite in the series, the book at least helped tide me over until my next Lexi Blake fix.

Well played, Ms. Blake, well played.

I loved the first in this series! The mystery, the revenge plot, the whole setup for Bran's story, I couldn't wait to hop into this one and immerse myself in the world of the Lawless siblings.

Bran was portrayed as the one with the big and soft heart in the first installment of this series. The one who couldn't resist a damsel in distress, but also the one with major anger management issues. After the chaos of the first part of their revenge plot in Ruthless Bran doesn't want another woman hurt by his family. He takes charge and crosses Drew's plans when he approaches Carly Fisher, while she is waiting for a date she was matched with on an online matchmaking site.

Carly divorced her husband two years ago, when he embezzled a lot of money from her boss and dragged her sister into the mess, forcing Carly to keep working for the horrible woman. When Bran inserts himself into her life she doesn't know what hit her. How can this gorgeous man even be interested in her?

He was a sucker for a woman who didn't know how beautiful she was. He wanted to be the man to show her.

Bran doesn't mince words, he is very clear that he isn't looking for a lasting relationship. His demons are always present. He can barely get his anger under control and when he zones out he doesn't remember a lot of what happened when his anger takes over. We are kept in the dark about the reason why Brandon is traumatized but we get a clear picture that he is convinced that he doesn't deserve love. Carly is the person who gives him calm and settles his turmoil.

He was more peaceful when he was around her. She brought it out in him and that menat she never had to know about his dark places.

But, as it is, it's not always that easy, right?

Carly is a little pale and lackluster in comparison, not only to Bran but also to Ellie, the heroine of the first book. Her insecurities and constant questioning of Bran's desire for her started to grind a little bit on my nerves at some point. I couldn't see why he would want this mousy girl who lacked self confidence at every corner. While the sex was hot (thanks to Bran) I just didn't feel their connection.

I did love the mystery and the plot twist at the end of the book, while I kind of saw it coming, it was still really well done. We are also introduced to Drew's love interest and I predict some fun moments between the investigative reporter Shelby and our nerdy Lawless brother. While this was not a complete winner it was still an enjoyable read. I love Lexi Blake's flawless storytelling and can't wait to read Drew's story!

"Hush and let me show you how well and thoroughly I can worship you."

Satisfaction is the second installment of Lexi Blake's Lawless series and follows Brandon. If you've already started this series than you know the mission that the Lawless siblings are on; to get revenge on their parents murderer. This book picks up where the last one left us but now focuses on Brandon as he tries to recruit Carly for the Lawless team of vengeance.

Carly is stuck working for the boss from hell, so when Brandon comes to her and tells her that her boss isn't just a bitch to work for but a suspected killer she actually believes him. Working with Brandon is certainly no hardship for her, but Carly is determined to keep feelings out of their plans. While Brandon is equally determined to make Carly realize her true feelings about him.

Okay so this review is actually kind of hard to write. Why? Because this author is a huge favorite of mine and I wanted to love this book so hard, but I just didn't. The character lost me with this one and I don't have too many great things to say about either of them. However, I can say that I did like them together and thought they made a good couple.

Individually, though, neither of them were my favorite. Carly was a real problem for me because of her insecurities and how much they were voiced. I felt like the majority of the first half of the book was just her second guessing herself and wondering why someone like Brandon would be with her. It got to be very annoying to hear her constantly doubting Brandon wanting her, especially since I also felt that her issues were never resolved. She and Brandon never actually talked about what her fears were and it kind of bothered me when those feelings of hers seemed to just disappear in the second half.

Carly also gave me some bad vibes when there was a situation where she needed money, and I'm not talking about a $2 loan, I mean a million dollars, and she readily took it from Brandon. Yes he offered and didn't have an issue with helping her out, but it just rubbed me the wrong way that she never talked to him about it in depth or even tried to get him not to give so much money.

Now on to Brandon, he was definitely a complicated character. I could tell right from the beginning that he had issues, and I really wanted to know more about what those were. But as we explored just what his problems were, I was disliking his character more and more. We were told near the very end why he was the way he was, but then it was never explored, so I felt like we didn't actually get to ever learn what made him tick. And before we were told all I saw was a grown man unable to articulate what his own feelings were and too scared to seek comfort from more than one night stands.

As a whole, I enjoyed this book and I liked the suspense that was added in while we tried to figure out more of the mystery of the Lawless' past. There was one big shocker at the end that I did not see coming and now has me ready to scream until I can get the next book. The characters were not my favorite and I had several problems with them, but they never stopped me from enjoying the overall story. I would still recommend this book for anyone that is a fan of mysteries and hope you will be as surprised as I was by the end.

I had to finish this one in prep for my ARC of book three coming out in June. I am super busy so no fancy ass graphics today...

This one was OK. Not this author's best work IMO. There were a lot of inconsistencies. And as much as I love a good manwhore and Lexi writes some great ones...sleeping with over 100 hookers doesn't make you a manwhore it makes you a skeevy STD riddled sex addict. No way to redeem that level of yuck.

description

On the flip side anytime I get some Ian action is a good time. Throw in some Chase and Drew (cannot wait for his book...oh wait I don't have to I have an ARC! *lol*) and I am one happy camper. And lastly, as always the suspense part of this one was really good.

So there you have it. A bit of a mixed bag for me. If the author had toned down the level of skank with Bran and gave Carly a backbone it very well would have garnered an additional star from yours truly.

Review @ Midnight Romance

The Lawless siblings still on their revenge to exposed the person who behind their fallout family. In the previous book, Ruthless, Riley Lawless managed to exposed StratCast with Ellie Stratton's help. Patricia Cain has became their next target. She supposed to be the key of their parent's death. But Brandon Lawless isn't like his brothers. No lies, only truth.

Carly Fisher works her ass off for Patricia Cain and decided to resign. Because of some unfortunate events, Patricia 'blackmaile' her and she stayed. As a wounded man, Bran didn't believe with himself. But helping Carly Fisher is the top priority and he believe she's innocent. He wouldn't use dirty tricks to Carly. Slowly Bran feels something for her beyond as fake lovers.
“I was honest with you. I wasn’t trying to manipulate you.”
“Sure you weren’t. That’s why you would reach out and touch me every now and then.”
“I did that because I wanted to. Carly, I wasn’t lying. I’m not trying to seduce you so you’ll work for me.”
She frowned his way, her arms crossing over her chest. “Then why the seduction act?”
“Because I want to sleep with you.”

I found it hard to like Carly. Well, she's independent and hard-working person. But there is something with her that I didn't 'click'. I think she's lack of passion or something. Her life only for works and her sister, nothing intriguing to know more. Because of her failed marriage, Carly feels insecure with her body. Moreover the pressure from her evil boss, Patricia Cain.

description

On the other side, Bran is a whole package of mysterious. He never talk about his past. He fool around with strip club and drinking before Carly. The worst is the anger issue when he lost control. Bran also has knight-in-shinning-armor syndrome. He actually likes her from the first time, but he didn't brave enough to admit it.
. “You don’t move until I move you. You said you didn’t want to be treated like a porcelain doll. How about my sex toy? My pretty little sex toy. This is all for me and I can do anything I want with you. I ordered you. They asked what I wanted and I said I wanted breasts that fit my hand, pretty pink nipples I can twist and play with.”

The most important thing, there is no sparks between Bran and Carly. The sex was okay, I guess. Maybe because the lack of chemistry between them. I enjoyed the dirty talk but somehow, it was frustrating to remember they're always round in circle with same problem. Carly's insecurity with her damsel-in-distress attitude irritated me. She keeps bringing it up again and again.

description

The story was well-written but very slow and too long to be done. It didn't bring up to my speed with their revenge plot which is kinda failed. A decent read, though. The ending was anti-climax, but Lexi Blake managed to surprise us with another unpredictable move. I can't wait for the final book. It is about Drew Lawless! Yeah, that hot nerd. Together with Shelby Gates; a reporter and Carly's friend, he will seek the truth.

I was excited to read this one since I enjoyed the first book.Unfortunately in Satisfaction even though I loved the story I had a problem with the heroine.
I really tried to like Carly but her behavior and the fact that She complained all the time, make me frustrated .
I love the twist in the story and I'm excited for the next book!!!!

Once again, Lexi Blake continues to deliver a sexy, tantalizing romantic suspense that will be sure to have readers begging for more of the Lawless siblings. In this second installment, Lexi picks off where she last left off in the last book and throws readers into another gauntlet of excitement, scandal, and new revelations as the Lawless siblings brings forth into light as to what really happened to their parent’s death. The hunt for revenge and justice is on and this time it is up to the elusive brother, Brandon Lawless to discover the truth and find the Satisfaction his and siblings are after for.

Brandon Lawless had one mission and objective only. Clear his father’s name. The target was marked and it is up to Brandon to persuade the enemy’s personal assistant to help him and his siblings get the justice and answers they need.

photo e53e6d41b33bbe22cf3ece3df15446_zpsaosyiado.gif Carly Fisher might deny it, but she wanted a man who would be a true partner, who would help her. She was alone and the man who convinced her she didn’t have to be would win her over. She would be loyal to that man, follow him wherever he went. He couldn’t be that man, but he could find a mutual satisfaction between them. He could help her. She could help him and then they would go their separate ways, better for having known each other.”

Carly Hendricks hates her job. Well, technically she hates that she works for a manipulative lady who will stop at nothing to be on top. She knows her boss is ruthless but she can’t quit because of her boss’s threat on her sister. And so when Brandon approaches Carly for help, she soon finds herself working with him and giving him the inside scoop. What was supposed to be an easy mission turns out to be a whole mess of complications especially when Brandon finds himself falling hard for Carly. Will Carly be able to help Brandon find the truth and justice that he is seeking for? Or will an unforeseen turn of events makes this revenge much harder for the Lawless siblings?

#Satisfaction

Satisfaction was a sizzling, fast paced romantic suspense that will be sure to satisfy any Lexi Blake fans as the writing was clean and engaging. With a multitude of action and unfolding of revelations, readers will be devouring this book in one sitting as Brandon Lawless will leave you hungrily satisfied with his strong sexual appeal. So if you are looking for a steamy romantic suspense that will take you on a wild ride then I would recommend you to read this series as I can’t wait to see what is in store for Drew.

I was very excited to read this book because Bran was a stood out to me in the first book, and I wanted to read his story so bad. And while I did like and enjoy this one, it wasn't the same level of enjoyment as the first book.

Satisfaction started off slow, which I normally wouldn't mind as long as it gives me character development and some plot development too. But sometimes, some of the scenes felt like filler to me. And it didn't really help that this book also had to set up the next book in the series, which by the way I am totally looking forward to because hello, Drew seems like an asshole I would really like. But I digress.

This was took too much time setting up other story lines that it forgot about its main couple: Carly and Bran. I liked them but I found them a bit bland, especially Carly. She's a nice enough heroine but her personality is a bit blah. Even when she was together with Bran. They have some chemistry but again, I feel like their relationship was an afterthought.

The best part about this book though was the climax where secrets are starting to come out. Man, the revelations in this book were mind blowing. I never even suspected that the story would go this way. It totally changed everything. It changed the whole game for the Lawless siblings. I cannot wait for the conclusion to this series.

Overall, Satisfaction felt more like a filler book. It's a prelude to the grand finale.

Update after finishing book 3 this is being bumped down to 3 stars, I consider this to be more of a filler.
3 ‘Didn’t see that coming’ Stars.

I adore Lexi Blake and the wonderful worlds and stories that she can create. With each new book, series and characters I get sucked in each and every time I read one of her books and I love them. To date she is one of my favorite authors and all I can say is keep them coming.

The Lawless siblings are initiating the next step in their revenge plan. They have Patricia Cain from Cain Corps in their sight and have come up with a plan. Ask her assistant for help. Instead of deceiving our heroine, Bran is a lost puppy and as honest as they come.

“Hey, my name is Brandon Lawless.” She looked around like she was trying to figure out who was watching her. “Um, you have the wrong girl.” He smiled at her. “Nope, I’ve got the right girl. Carly, your boss murdered my parents twenty years ago. What do you say you help me bring her to justice?” “Are you insane?” "Yeah get that reaction a lot."

Carly Fisher was in a hard place thanks to her ex-husband she is now in a rock and a hard place. With the mob on her heels it isn’t looking good and then her supposed date with Drew turns into giving her hope that her life can be different. Operation take down the evil mare is on.
Now, I personally thought that they are perfect for one another and for all Bran’s faults he is perfect.

There is a certain amount of push and pull in the book from the Hero and I get it although it got tiresome at some point. It is still enjoyable. As to o/w drama I think the evil cougar bitch trying to hit on Bran doesn’t count otherwise I can’t see what o/w drama there is to be honest.

If I haven’t mentioned it before then I will again I love Bran and he is a puppy I want to adopt. Got to say I had difficulties with Drew in book one but I warmed up to him in this book and now I can’t wait to read his story.

Ian Taggart says he doesn’t give relationship advice. I love when he turns up in books and his sarcasm is the best.

A must read but then I am biased cause it’s Lexi Blake.

Old post

I can't wait for Bran's book he is my favorite. Here are some snippets.

Hell, Bran thought the housekeeper walked on water because she did her job. Bran was like an overgrown Labrador retriever.

Sometimes the happy retriever remembered how long he’d been a stray. Bran’s typical demeanor was so easygoing that Riley often forgot how violent his brother could become.

I know that the shrinks will all tell you that I have several personality disorders, but I quite like most people. I’m simply very active about the ones I don’t like. I think that makes me honest. They like to use words like anger issues. We agree to disagree.”

“I’m pulling for you and Riley, but it’s selfish. If Riley can make you love him, maybe there’s someone for me.”

“Hey, my name is Brandon Lawless.” She looked around like she was trying to figure out who was watching her. “Um, you have the wrong girl.” He smiled at her. “Nope, I’ve got the right girl. Carly, your boss murdered my parents twenty years ago. What do you say you help me bring her to justice?” “Are you insane?”

Yeah got that reaction a lot.

4.5 Suspense filled stars

Good heavens I am totally obsessed with this series. The Lawless siblings quest to discover the truth behind their parents’ murder and to clear their father’s name continues in Satisfaction and once again Lexi Blake reeled me into her tangled web of secrets, lies and deceptions. With a plot masterfully filled with suspense, twists and loads of passion, I could not put Brandon and Carly’s romance down. It was a satisfyingly juicy and steamy read.

Following the story line we met all the Lawless children, how they were left orphaned years ago and their need for justice. Satisfaction is Brandon’s story - the younger brother riddled with fears who felt unworthy of being loved. Left on his own for so many years, he barely survived the cruelty of the foster care system. Bran’s past was heartbreaking and I couldn’t help but fall for his character even more. Seeing his childhood traumas, I understood his need to protect ‘damsels in distress’ and his constant struggle to become a man his family could rely on.

The next stage of their grand plan is to unearth information guarded by one of the family’s enemies, Patricia (TV personality and their father’s former partner). Carly, Patricia’s mousy personal assistant is the key to getting the information. It’s up to Bran to convince her to cooperate by using any means necessary. But Bran could not bring himself to be deceitful, and I loved how honest he was with Carly from the beginning. She had her own troubles to contend with, and Bran immediately recognized her vulnerabilities. As a result, a deal was struck – Carly will help Bran, as he offers her protection against the thugs who threatened her life. Along the way, they discover there is more to their relationship. There’s an electrical spark, an undeniable attraction between the two that could no longer be ignored.

Bran and Carly were perfect together. Both insecure and hopelessly struggling against personal demons, their blossoming relationship led them on a path to discover not only love, but also the potential to build trust and confidence. The chemistry they shared was HOT. Brandon was just as sexy as he was sweet - a true and honest hero that I could not help but adore. Satisfaction was an intense roller-coaster ride with a cliffhanger of an ending that had me screaming for more. This is a great series that I highly recommend to lovers of steamy romantic suspense novels. Now my wait begins for the final Lawless saga, Revenge.

-Second book lives up to promise of first. The overarching storyline for the Lawless siblings and the mystery of what happened to their parents is definitely the highlight of this story. There are twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting and I love that I’m not sure how this will wrap up.

-A smiling, tortured hero. Brandon may be the easy going one of the Lawless brothers, but there’s some rage in them that hills, so to speak. When I first read about Brandon, I was expecting a certain type of character, and he certainly has those characteristics. His honor, and honesty, are great qualities. It’s the darkness in him that makes you want to cuddle him close and fix him and if that’s not a recipe for romance novel goodness, I don’t know what is.

-A damsel heroine that can save herself. Carly finds herself in danger more than once, and she certainly plays the damsel in distress well. Yes, on occasion her insecurities and disbelief in Brandon’s attraction for her were frustrating. What I really liked though, was seeing her learn to trust herself, to blossom under Brandon’s love and learning to give herself the credit she deserves.

-Supporting characters are long time faves. If you’ve never read the Masters and Mercenaries series, then some of the supporting characters will definitely intrigue you enough to read their stories. Especially Ian. God I love that man.

-A bit abrupt of a wrap-up. It felt as if the build-up regarding the mystery abruptly changed gears and some important reveals regarding one character was left offpage, which was a little disappointing. I also would have loved a little more time seeing Carly and Brandon deal with his ongoing PTSD issues, though I appreciate that it wasn’t swept aside.

I really enjoyed Bran and Carly’s romance and definitely recommend it. The twist at the end is such a doozy, I cannot wait to read Drew’s book next.

Hold onto your seats… it’s getting bumpy….

This author knows just how to bring me to my reading knees! I’m guaranteed a well-written story no matter what the storyline or what characters inhabit them and this series, this book, had me glued to the pages…

The Lawless family are on a mission and it is Brandon’s turn to lead the charge. When he crosses path with Carly Hendricks she may be friend or foe but he is going to treat her as a means to an end. A very beautiful, potent, sexy… means to an end. Carly finds herself in an impossible situation however, that doesn’t stop her from trying to do the right thing…

Complicated. In one word that would describe their relationship. Trust is at the heart and when there is none, well, hang onto your kindles as this is going to be bumpy! Carly is confident in her work yet is a mix of uncertainty and lack of confidence when it comes to the compelling and ‘out of reach’ Brandon. Brandon knows what is at stake and love can’t be a factor. While not a recipe for disaster there is also no smooth sailing as the family’s mission continues amidst half-truths and secrets…

“Maybe he was satisfied that they were going to do the job and then they would shake hands and say good-bye.”

While I couldn’t be more satisfied with how Carly and Brandon’s story played out, the author couldn’t leave it at that. Oh no, wouldn’t want to get the readers too complacent… That ending? That jaw dropping, ‘what the @#$% just happened’ twisted ending will have me stalking the shelves for Drew’s story! -Diane, 4.5 stars

I'm just SO IN LOVE with this series right now! SATISFACTION by Lexi Blake doesn't come out until next year, but I couldn't hold off any longer! Sexy, suspenseful, and out of this world swoonworthy! Everything Ms. Blake writes is pure GOLD!

"In the future, when you want to ask for sex, a polite 'Bran, could we please have sex?' will do. Or we could set up a code word for times when we're in public and you want to let me know you need me. Something innocuous like 'I'm hungry.' Then I'll know to get you somewhere private as quickly as possible."

"And what if I'm really hungry?"

"Then I'll feed you after I fuck you."

Is it possible to have a favorite Lawless brother? I don't know. I freaking ADORE all of them, but it seems like ever since I finished the first book in the series, I was craving Brandon's story like my next breath. And Carly Hendricks, our heroine, was the perfect fit for the youngest Lawless brother. Bran completely swept me off of my feet from the very beginning. His need to save every damsel in distress and his yearning to not be a disappointment, tugged heavily on my heartstrings. He saw an opportunity with Carly and he took it, damned the consequences, and it paid off in the end.

The chemistry and the connection that the main characters shared in SATISFACTION was beyond amazing. Flirtatious banter was taken to a whole other level and I enjoyed every single minute of it.

"Please, Bran. You're going to drive me crazy."

"You have no idea how true that is, baby."

Fans of romantic suspense should scoop up this series ASAP! Book one was GREAT! SATISFACTION was even better and I can't even begin to tell you how freaking excited I am to get my hands on the final Lawless saga, REVENGE. Drew's happily ever after has been a long time comin' and I can't wait to see how the amazing Lexi Blake closes out the series!

If you are looking for your next addiction, dive into the world of the Lawless siblings. It's sexy, dramatic, and full of passion and suspense! It's absolutely PERFECT!

Leigh's 5 star review:
Every time I finish a book by Lexi Blake, I waver between exhilaration and crushing disappointment. I feel as if I’ve just stepped off a roller coaster of emotions and am running top speed to get back in line to do it all over again, only to realize how long the line actually is to get to experience it once more. I adored everything about this book, except getting to the end and realizing that I now have to wait for her to write the book about the final brother to see how the saga plays out. It’s smart. It’s action packed. It’s sweet and kinky. And it’s going to drive me crazy to have to wait and find out how the Lawless story ends.

This second book in the Lawless series focuses on Brandon Lawless. In the siblings’ quest to take down their parents’ killers, their sights are set on Patricia Cain and her Martha Stewart-esque empire. But in order to get close to her, they need an “in”… and that’s where Carly comes in. As Patricia’s personal assistant and the person closest to her, Carly is pulled i to a world of deception and intrigue. The plan is originally for her to allow Brandon entrance to Patricia’s world by playing Carly’s boyfriend, but the lines between pretend and reality become blurred very quickly.

I loved Bran. He was the muscle in the group, but also the heart. He was selfless and endearing and so honest it hurt. He wanted to be loved and wanted and gave all of himself, asking very little in return. Typically when I read about those heroes that feel that the heroine deserves better than them, it makes me want to roll my eyes. But in this instance, Bran was so sincere, so damaged by his upbringing that he didn’t believe he deserved happiness although he desperately wanted it. He just made me love him and want things to work out. And Carly was perfect for him. She was innocent and sweet, a bit skeptical, but wanting to reach out and grab on with both hands when she was shown kindness. She didn’t give up on Brandon and I couldn’t help but adore that about her. She was dedicated to those she loved and would be the perfect match for a man that needed to be loved so badly.

The story was fast paced and the names of so many characters from past books waltzed their way in and out so I felt as if I was visiting old friends. And like all of Lexi Blake’s stories, it was smart and suspenseful. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Ms. Blake comes in with a way to twist the story that I never saw coming. She is a master storyteller and I can’t wait to find out how the Lawless’ story ends. It’s sure to be just as amazing as Satisfaction was to read.

Shadow's 5 star review>
When Brandon Lawless decides to strike out on his own to help his siblings take down his parents' killers, he decides he isn't going to be as ruthless as his brother Drew. When he picks someone to help break down Patricia Cain, he is honest about it. He targets her assistant, Carly Hendricks.

Carly has her own reasons for participating in the effort to bring her boss to justice. Cain is blackmailing Carly to stay on as her assistant by threatening her younger sister.

As Brandon begins working to discover Cain's secret, he learns the biggest one is that Cain needs Carly in ways no one knows. It is Carly who makes things happen behind the scenes and on-screen and who does most of the work for the hostess. But when Carly is almost killed, the stakes become higher-and the question of whether or not Carly or Cain was the target means the entire effort is in jeopardy and Brandon discovers he has lost his heart to the beautiful woman with whom he is working. Can he and Carly find a way to ferret out Cain's secrets while staying safe-especially with Cain's stepson hoping Carly will sign on with him for a show of her own?

Carly is delightful. Capable, caring, and conscientious, she looks toward the future regardless of the struggles of her past. Brandon, in turn, learns from her that there is more to life than the desire for vengeance-and that with help, the past can remain behind, instead of scarring the future.

Expect some hot sex and some interesting plot twists and turns-as well as a set up for the third book in the series.

As always, author Lexi Blake focuses on the fact that family is not necessarily about blood relatives, but it is what you make it. Carly's conversation with Ian Taggert is illuminating-and sidesplitting funny. Overall, this is a jewel in the author's crown of contemporary romances.

This was so good!!! The romance was fantastic and I adored Bran. He was so sweet but damaged. The suspense and the storyline that's carried over from the first book is ridiculously good- I did not see this story going in the direction it did!!! I honestly don't know how I'm going to be able to wait for the next book! I can't wait for Drew's story next!

And…the revenge plot rolls on, in ‘Satisfaction’, as each of the Lawless siblings find their happy-ever-after while getting payback for their parents’ deaths. What struck me immediately was how unusual this series is—a suspense plot that does not involve secret agents or high-octane chases but rather one of corporate espionage and layered discoveries where the build-up spans what I’m suspecting would be an entire story arc that will only end in the last book.

I did find the characters hard to get into though, even if the sex is undoubtedly hot. Bran/Carly seemed somewhat mismatched as their relationship seemed based mostly on needs fulfilment and Brandon’s superficial desire to ‘help’ all the women he sleeps with. Carly pings this radar because she fits his type to a ’T’ as the damsel in distress who badly needs rescuing, her passive and near-virginal ways (in comparison) a foil to this unstable character so full of rage and simmering violence that love really can’t conquer all.

In many ways, I found it hard to see Bran as a grown man in control of all his faculties but more alarmingly, I thought of him more and more as a man-whore-child who couldn’t shake his family’s shackles off him simply because he hadn’t proven himself capable. But it’s precisely the volatile, passive-aggressive behaviour of Bran’s that I found truly distasteful, as he slides constantly into the mantra that he isn’t good for anyone, then turns around shouldering a messiah complex tinged with a black-edged cruelty when he taunts the sexually inexperienced Carly with the sheer number of hookers/strippers/women he’s gone through in a bid to let her see the ‘real him’. That Carly mothers him thereafter, deciding he needs ‘domesticity’ instead convinced me that it wasn’t quite a pairing I could get behind at all, when she merely chose to see the tragic side of him.

That said, the tortured-leading man who needs a gentle woman to reform him is probably a trope that others would appreciate, even if it doesn’t appeal to me personally.

However, I do find myself intrigued with the setup for Drew Lawless and Shelby Gates, who start at opposite ends of the scale and go eye to eye as he tries to hinder her investigation into their family. And unless there’re some hard limits that are going to be crossed, I’m cautiously waiting out to see how the whole story goes down.

From my experience, Lexi Blake's books are guaranteed to bring you sexy men who let their hearts take over what they know they should do and sway them into doing what they want to do. With a strong family relationship and incredibly attractive men, I couldn't wait to read book two in the Lawless series.

Brandon Lawless and his siblings will do anything to clear their dead parents names and get back at those who had their parents killed. Unlike his brother Riley, though, Brandon isn't willing to lie to innocent women to get what they need. Instead, Brandon is upfront with Carly Hendricks, assistant to an awful woman who will do anything to stay on top. Carly is shocked when Drew comes to her with a proposition to take down her boss, but she's even more shocked about the way her body reacts to Brandon. Is what she feels just part of the plan, or are they really falling for each other?

While the first book in this series was just an okay read, I found myself loving Brandon and Carly's story. I think I loved the fact that Brandon couldn't fake the relationship with Carly to get what he wanted, which was the storyline of the first book. Since Carly hated her boss anyways, she knew she was capable of what Brandon accused her of, but could she risk someone dear to her for that? I loved how Carly was such a selfless person, especially when it came to her sister. And Brandon was selfless too in the fact that he would do anything for his family.

Onto the romance, I loved the chemistry between Carly and Brandon. Carly was so refreshing and I loved how she thought someone as good looking as Brandon would never notice her. She's not one to be noticed for her looks, so it was fun seeing her fall hard for Brandon and realize that it was real. There were also some heart pumping moments as well, which kept me on the edge of my seat. Who could Carly really trust and who was really behind the murder of Brandon's parents?

I am so happy to say that I enjoyed this one much more than the first book in this series. I admired the Lawless family with their dedication to one another and their ambition to avenge their parents' death. I loved the romance in this book so much and if you want a relatable main character who falls for a swoon-worthy, charming man, you should pick this book up.

Overview:
Brandon  & Carly. Book 2's plot is a continuation of the Lawless family story (4 children orphaned years ago and their need for justice/revenge). Book 1 should be read first (Riley & Ellie's love story) as it sets up the foundation for this book. Dual POV. It has a HEA for Brandon and Carly but there is a big cliffhanger and you will need to read the next book to finish the story.

Brandon:
Upon meeting Carly, Brandon says..... “Carly, your boss murdered my parents twenty years ago. What do you say you help me bring her to justice?”

Well, that's certainly an interesting way for Brandon to introduce himself to Carly. :)

Brandon considers himself the disappointment of the Lawless family and is positive his family feels the same way. In his own words.... "Bran was the f*ckup everyone had to clean up after.” The driving force behind Bran is a need to be the knight in shining armor rescuing the damsel in distress. He feels like he is the weak link in his family and that he is never good enough. He's the "difficult brother". Because of something that happened when he was teenager, he has some issues and loses control when he is angry.

Carly:
After an unfortunate incident with her ex husband, Carly is blackmailed into working for her current boss (who is a manipulative b**ch). Carly is the brilliance behind her boss, but never gets the credit. She feels helpless and alone in her current situation, but she doesn't see a way out.

Together:
Bran and Carly work well as a team in their united effort to "get the goods" on her boss. Brandon proves he is someone she can lean on. He treats her like she has value and that brings out her confidence. He allows her to make choices, showing her that she has control when she feels like she has none. Her needs come first and his compliments begin to make her see herself in a different and better way. Carly's genuine kindness melts Bran's heart. He is more peaceful when he is around her, she settles him. She provides him comfort and she doesn't give up on him. She proves she is loyal. Together, these two bring out the best in each other. They have fantastic chemistry and the bedroom scenes sizzle.

Overall:
So far, I have really enjoyed this series. In this book, you encounter two broken people who begin the journey of healing once they start to build a relationship. I loved how Bran was honest with her from the very beginning about the role he wanted her to play in their "justice" plan. The reading is fast paced and I was engaged the whole time. There are many different aspects to the plot, character development is good and the secondary characters are critical to the story. I started to think that a certain someone was involved in heir parents murder, but the cliffhanger still blew my mind. This book sets up the next love story between Drew and Shelby and I can't wait to start that book and read how this whole plot unfolds.

Quotes:
“She’s the mean girl equivalent of a Transformer”

“I’ve had to work with some of the nastiest people in the world for years. Just because I sometimes act like a mouse because it’s the best way to get through a day doesn’t mean I’m actually a mouse.”

“Gone was the sweet Bran she knew so well and in his place was a hungry panther. A gorgeous predator and she wanted nothing more than for him to make a meal of her.”

“I think being a spy has made me too sassy.”

***ARC Provided by the Publisher and Inkslinger PR***

Yet again, I find myself at the end of a book that I really enjoyed that I can't really tell you about because-spoilers.

Lots of the stupid spoiler things happen in this book. They make for a great book... but a boring review.

So, stuff happens. And there's a "Hold on, WHAT?!?!?" cliffhanger. And some hot sex. That was in there.

Brandon and Carly...well, Bran are great together and the author tells not only a continuation of the murder mystery from the first book but also their romance. It's a little dark, not a lot but a little. And I hot. And emotional. And you will love him. Because he's sweet, and a little damaged, but great for all of that.

The writing is strong. I was mostly good with the pacing but I did think it was a little slow in the middle (hence the 4 stars) but overall I enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Read this one. I'm glad I did. You will be too... and then we can talk about the spoilers.

Satisfaction (Lawless #2) by Lexi Blake

Brandon Lawless is a man on a mission: obtain the information that will clear his father’s name. He’s willing to do whatever it takes—even seduce his enemy’s personal assistant, the beautiful and innocent Carly Hendricks.

But with her beguiling smile and captivating intelligence, Brandon soon realizes he doesn’t want to deceive Carly, he wants to win her over—both in the boardroom and the bedroom.   Then a twisted crime leaves Carly vulnerable and Brandon finds himself reeling. The stakes of his mission are now life or death—Carly’s life. And Brandon realizes he’s lost his heart to an amazing woman and his plan must succeed, because the stakes are no longer just revenge, but a once in a lifetime love.

Satisfaction is written well but I think most of all I didn't particularly care for the wholesome innocent virginal angel paired with the overly sensitive intimately devoid man whore with no thought to himself other than the single thing that drives him. Sex and revenge. Neither his past trauma nor his need to prove his prowess in bed was worth the emotional investment on Carly's part.
I hated Brandon - he got on my nerves, and I hated that Carly decided that he would be her project to fix.
Satisfaction just wasn't "it" for me. Not a win.
