One Night Stand

Rate this book
O’Gallaghers has been a long-lasting establishment in San Diego, known for its Irish brews and fare. When the next generation of O’Gallaghers took over, it became known for a little bit more…

Conor O’Gallagher.

Thirty-two, six-foot, and all muscle. Flashes of dimples behind his black beard, quick winks for the lady patrons, and a tattoo sleeve that leaves the ladies begging to be his nightly conquest.

Because one of them will be.

Every night at close, Conor brings one, two, sometimes more, up to his apartment and has his merry way with them. The women always leave satisfied, and always know he’s a one and done kind of guy, no repeat performances.

But what happens when one of his one night stands comes back into his life five months later, and pregnant no less?

What happens when one night gives you more than you bargained for?

Conor’s about to find out…

This series focuses on the three O’Gallagher offspring—Conor, Rory, and Breena who run their family bar. This first book is Conor O’Gallagher and Mia Hampton’s story. While the story wasn’t exactly boring and it mostly kept me engaged (like watching a trainwreck), I could not honestly give it a higher rating based off the fact that this is supposed to be a romance, and the hero is about as far from romantic as you could possibly be. Even my first impression of Conor wasn’t all that favorable. A thirty-two year old dude who plays a “nightly game of eenie, meenie, miney, ‘ho,” and has inner monologues like, “But pussy was pussy. Tits were tits,” was a huge turn-off. Sorry, but this guy did not seem like a catch, unless of course you were looking to catch something, which I felt like you would the more I read about him.

Told via Conor and Mia’s alternating first person POV, Connor is a self admitted “asshole” who only does one night stands and has one night each week devoted to sleeping with multiple women at the same time. Women are nothing more to him than “another hole on another night,” and he’s no stranger to broken condoms. I can’t even begin to describe how much that makes my skin crawl. The fact that most of this didn’t bother Mia made me lose respect for her too.

The story, novella in length, isn’t sufficiently developed to explain why Mia had such a crush on him since childhood. I’m still scratching my head trying to figure that one out. Conor espouses that women think his cock is his best asset, and I’d actually believe that since his personality isn’t winning any awards. Plain and simple, this story is for readers looking for casual sex rather than romance and a cocky Neanderthal rather than a book boyfriend.

There is no romance to this. It’s just a sad (as in pathetic) tale of a girl who’s hung up on the wrong guy and gets pregnant her first time to the jerk who goes right back to screwing countless women right after being with her. His response to figuring out she’s caring his child: “Send her away and I’ll deal with her later.” And when he does start to get his head out of his ass, the story skips over all the important parts of a relationship, like getting to know each other, and jumps right to more sex and some OW drama. It was clear that Conor would have never given Mia a chance if he hadn’t knocked her up, and it was also clear that they were two totally different types of people and not the opposites attract kind.

Everything else that follows is literally either too little (as in no story development), too little too late (this man couldn’t begin to make up for the utter assholishness that he exhibited), or outright ridiculous (the abandoned breastfeeding and miracle conception.)

All in all, a real douchebag hero and a doormat heroine alongside a plot that favors summing up critical scenes rather than showing or developing them. Put that together and you get an erotic melodrama rather than romance.

Spoilers ahead

Sooooo the backstory
In the last few days I restarted my Facebook presence, finding myself scrolling through I found a rec for this book and author and WITHOUT(apparently I'll never learn) reading a single review I got right in.......and here we are now

The review
Mia grew up with the O'Gallagher kids and once was friends with their sis, from a child she had a huge crush on Conor but when her friendship with their sister ended so did her connection with Conor. Years later Mia finds herself in the family's bar and finds that Conor has a reputation for casual sex with different women each night. Since Mia is technically still a virgin she decides to sleep with her long time crush even thouvh it's a known fact he doesnt sleep with virgins. After their passion Conor discovers her deception and gets angry. With a broken condpm and a fight between them the two they separate. Months later Mia's former best friend and Conor's ssister runs into a now pregnant Mia and the story breaks facilitating a reconciliation between the once lovers.conciliation

Now
The good
Lots of good sexy times which can actually up my rating lol
This was almost good and could've been a hit if fleshed out properly and without Conor's nasty history
Baby from a ONS which I love
Mia had some great lines on a couple of occasions where she put Conor in his place

The not so good
This was too short to effectively deliver on the romance, we didn't get to know much about Conor aside from his sex life or much about Mia besides her crush on Conor and it's subsequent results
Mia had moments where I thought she'd have a great backbone and be a really sassy h but unfortunately Conor's hotness ensured forgiveness without much groveling
My biggest problem however was that Conor was a HUMONGOUS MANWHORE! I mean this guy jad sex with a different woman from the bar every night, sometimes more than one woman! And the author had the audacity to repeatedly slap me with things such as-

Allegedly at bar close, he took one of the remaining ladies up to his apartment for a wild rendezvous. Never a virgin; he wasn’t quiet about his lack of desire to take a virgin to bed. He liked the wild women who knew their own way around the bedroom.
Thursdays, rumor had it, he brought two up with him.
I didn’t want to be one of two tonight, no.
But I did want one night with him.
A night to learn the ropes of sex.
Because if anyone knew what he was doing, it was Conor O’Gallagher.
And I was going to be his first virgin.(the h who knows his rep)

And

I laughed and shook my head. The guy was whipped. I couldn’t imagine one pussy for the rest of my life, but hey, if he was happy…

And
What do you have on under that kilt, Conor?” she asked. She was certainly hot, with her dark hair and grey eyes, and her most definitely surgically-enhanced chest. Maybe she’d be willing to play tonight. Her blonde friend beside her was pretty easy on the eyes, too. Maybe she’d be up for some play time as well.

And
I wasn’t exactly private about my affairs. Many a drunk woman would stick around until bar close, hoping I’d pick them in my nightly game of eenie, meenie, miney, ‘ho.

And

I knew what women like her (the h) saw when they watched me.
A man whom she considered was just out of her league. A man who would never take a moment to appreciate the plain shirt and jean-clad legs, hair in a mess of a bun, while women with perfect hair and perfect faces and perfect tits falling out of their hardly-there shirts leaned over my bar.
But pussy was pussy. Tits were tits.
And every now and then, it was fun to throw something different in the mix.

And

“It’s a bit big for just you, don’t you think?” she finally asked. She had stopped near the bed but turned toward me.
“The room or the bed? The bed is sometimes too small.” I smirked at the memories.
Four women. One at the head, sitting with her legs spread. Another between her, eating her out. Me eating that one out while on my back and another woman bouncing on my cock, my hands buried in the fourth’s wet, slick, bare pussy while she rubbed her tit and girl two’s tit.Good times had been had in this room.
Good times.

And

Her tits were fucking huge on her body. They weren’t the perkiest I’d seen, nor the fullest, but tits were tits.

And

Shit, she was just another woman I took to bed, who I didn’t get her name. Names didn’t matter.
But for whatever reason, I had a feeling her name mattered. A feeling that her being my first, and fuck she’d better be my only, virgin, mattered.
I shook my head.
I was too tired for this shit.
Tomorrow night I’d take two girls. That would take my mind off Curly for sure.

And

Damn. I may just keep you around for a repeat after my cock is rested.” He chuckled to himself and I rolled to my back in time to see him frown, moving his hands to roll the condom off his softening dick. “The condom broke. Probably because you were so fucking tight. You’re on the pill, right?” He didn’t sound anxious. “I’m clean. Get tested regularly. You clean, Curly?” He moved to the bathroom, leaving me alone in his room, in the middle of his huge bed.
Those were not words a girl wanted to hear when she wasn’t on the pill. Especially when said so nonchalantly.

And

“You know. Curly Mia from elementary school? My best friend up until the fifth grade? She spent every freaking day at our house.”
Rory chuckled. “Oh yeah. Fat Mia.”
“Rory!” Brenna’s brows were raised. “She wasn’t fat. Don’t be a dick.”
“She was kind of pudgy,” I said under my breath, remembering the round girl with the unkempt hair.

And
But eventually I worked her out of my system by doing what I always did. But the shock of seeing her again, being pregnant no less, had all the feelings I thought I pushed down and away, coming back up.
Feelings that maybe she was special in a different way.
I didn’t want a special woman in my life. I liked my life the way it was, thank you. I liked different pussy and multiple pussy. I liked rough sex, and bondage sex, and anal sex. Looking at this curly haired woman in front of me, I didn’t see any of that in her

And

I didn’t kiss women.
I didn’t kiss men either, you fuckers.
I just didn’t kiss. I put my mouth on pussies, dipped my tongue in them too, but my mouth never touched another’s. Not really sure why, to be honest; kissing just never was high on my agenda. I always had other places I wanted my lips and tongue to be.

And
I didn’t want to be in his apartment. While it held a few moments of great memories for me, I didn’t want to have a conversation with him in a place that he likely had forty other women in after I left.
I wasn’t anything special. It wasn’t like he went celibate after I went upstairs with him

After getting stuff like that over and over in such a short book how am I to root for this couple??? To believe in their "love"? To even want a man like that for the h who was a fricking virgin???? Had he been celibate after being with the h maybe, just maybe I could've tolerated him but nope he had other women after her. When they did get together though he flipped immediately,he was ALL in and actually suggested they go a month without sex. Why the hell couldn't he have gone without sex and tried to find her instead??? Whyyyyyyyyy? After they reconnected he had sex with her without a condom while she was pregnant, now I'm one of those readers who don't like much reality in my romance fiction but one of the things I need is safe sex. HIV and STD rates worldwide are staggering so when I'm given an H such as Conor who had actually had condoms broken on him a couple times before not to mention numerous times of oral sex with strangers I Always think they're chock full of contagious shit. Manwhores like Conor need to be left in 2019 dammit.

After all that he was faithful to Mia with only one instance where he was in his office asleep and a woman came in and unzipped him looking for sex and Mia walked in on them. He wasn't going to do anything but this scene just emphasized his truly distasteful and disgusting past. And Mia of course accepted his explanation and mentioned on numerous occasions that she truly believed he wouldn't cheat on her. Good for you sis at least one of us believes the walking STD

One of the things I can never understand is community dick, how can you live happily ever after with a man who's known for putting out? Every time you're in the bar there'll be smug women in your face who've probably sat on your husband's face!!!! Like seriously???!!! How?????

Ugh this was a disappointment, I think I'll go back to taking a break from Facebook.

I already bought the other books and I think I will read them so every time someone suggests this author to me I can message them some quotes and hopefully ruin their day 😂

The bigger they are, the harder they fall. That is the case with Conor O'Gallager. Adjectives to describe Conor upon first "meeting" him. ...crass, arrogant, and a manwhore of epic proportions. He screws a different woman every night. Never the same one twice unless it's in a group. Yeah, as in a foursome that he thinks back to. He runs the family bar so he has an open tap of willing women. He has no desire to settle down or have a relationship. And, last but not least, he will never screw a virgin because they get all clingy and needy. Sounds dreamy, huh? Imagine how surprised he is when the woman he takes up to his apartment to have a ONS with doesn't tell him she's a virgin. He of course lashes out. She leaves, never to see him again. He, however, thinks about her often in the months that follow. He chalks it up to her being his first virgin, but he can't forget her (doesn't stop him from banging his nightly girl though)

Mia has had a crush on Conor since she was a kid. Eight years her senior, he was the older brother of her former best friend. She needs to get rid of her pesky virginity so who better to do it than her childhood crush, Conor. He is more than willing to have sex with her. After the sex, and the broken condom, he realizes she is a virgin. He is the typical ass that he is. She leaves and a few months later, she finds out she is pregnant. After running into Conor's sister and spilling the whole story, she is tricked into seeing Conor.

Imagine his surprise when the ONS he couldn't get out of his mind, turns up at dinner pregnant. Once he feels his child, something clicks and he is all in. Wanting to make it work with Mia and his child.

Honestly, he was really a gross pig initially. Of course so were the skanks who took what he had to offer. I mean let's face it, a guy can't be a manwhore unless there are women to give up easily. I thought Mia caved pretty quick and gave him a chance.

-arrogant, womanizing manwhore who eventually redeems himself
-sweet heroine who is a pushover
-devoted to each other once she comes back and is pregnant but
-om drama - none
-ow drama
-ok epilogue about a year out but wish there was more

It was short, sweet and cute.

A fun read. Relatively well written.

A little awkward at times but fast paced.

I enjoyed it.

The hero is a womanizer and did not convince me of his change of habits so fast and his dedication to the heroine. He fucks and discards women by moving on to the next. And our heroine was one of them only that she gets pregnant.
She is completely TSTL.
I confess that I skipped some of the sex scenes because I lost interest and that's just what the two of them had in common. Nothing special or deep in the story.

I couldn’t imagine one pussy for the rest of my life, but hey, if he was happy…

I wasn’t exactly private about my affairs. Many a drunk woman would stick around until bar close, hoping I’d pick them in my nightly game of eenie, meenie, miney, ‘ho.

But pussy was pussy. Tits were tits. And every now and then, it was fun to throw something different in the mix. I glanced over my shoulder at the clock before turning back to the last of the bar’s customers.

“The room or the bed? The bed is sometimes too small.” I smirked at the memories. Four women. One at the head, sitting with her legs spread. Another between her, eating her out. Me eating that one out while on my back and another woman bouncing on my cock, my hands buried in the fourth’s wet, slick, bare pussy while she rubbed her tit and girl two’s tit. Good times had been had in this room.

Shit, she was just another woman I took to bed who I didn’t get her name. Names didn’t matter.

Tomorrow night I’d take two girls. That would take my mind off Curly for sure. Late August “Get your fucking phone out of the ice chest, Rory.”

But eventually I worked her out of my system by doing what I always did. But the shock of seeing her again, being pregnant no less, had all the feelings I thought I pushed down and away, coming back up.

I liked different pussy and multiple pussy. I liked rough sex, and bondage sex, and anal sex. Looking at this curly haired woman in front of me, I didn’t see that in her.

I wasn’t anything special. It wasn’t like he went celibate after I went upstairs with him.

I may have only had sex with Mia a handful of times, if even—but hey, it was still more than I could say I did with any other individual woman—but I knew without a single doubt that this woman, wrapped in my arms, was who I wanted to be with for the next fifty-plus years.

LOVED this sexy-hot short story!
I liked how the author connected the O'Gallaghers and the Prescott's Interference (Prescott Family, #1) by Mignon Mykel .
Mia & Conor's story was a great read.
Even though this was a short story, the author did a great job of developing their characters and their story.
Loved the epilogue!
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

1.5 stars. (Spoilers follow)
First off I want to state how much I love the Prescott Series By Mignon Mykel (especially Altercation and Holding) so perhaps my hopes for this were higher than they would be for someone who is new to this Author. If you haven't read that series I strongly suggest you do it's leaps and bounds better than this one. Second I didn't realize it was a Novella until I was done and normally I don't like Novella's unless they are more of an added bonus on characters from a previous book because they are too short and things get tied up to quickly for my taste. And yes, I did finish it since I really like the author and wanted to give it a fair shot. That being said there were many things I disliked about this book. For starters, the seriously disrespectful to women man-whore hero and the doormat heroine. I'm all for the books that have the man-whore turning into a good guy when he meets the right girl but this happened WAY to fast here even with the soon to be bundle of joy on the way. Also, I felt the Hero forgave the Heroine to quickly for keeping her pregnancy a secret, even though she believed in her reasoning for not informing him. And she was right to some extent he was an asshole and his initial reaction to find out he was going to be a dad was less than stellar. Regardless he still had a right to know. And as for our heroine there were MANY reasons why she was definitely a doormat. There was one moment in particular that had me ready to toss my kindle across the room and scream "SERIOUSLY?!"

Anyways, I started to right this review with a lot more details that I have done here, stating specific things I strongly disliked, but then realized that wasn't fair of me to ruin a book that some of you may like. Unfortunately for me this was a huge miss and I will not be continuing with the series, instead I am waiting patiently for Mignon Mykel's next book in the Prescott series "Butterfly Save".

4.5 Familiar Surprise Stars

The O'Gallagher siblings are very well known. Brenna, the youngest of the trio, who was best friends with Mia Hampton until they had a falling out around the age of ten, when Brenna became a popular girl. Then there was Brenna's older very protective brothers, Conner and Rory, who was three years younger than Conner. Mia always had a crush on Conner, but he was 8 years older and always saw her as his sister's chubby little friend.

So it's no surprise that 15 years later, Conner doesn't recognize her. See... Mia's been trying to get up the nerve to approach Conner, who owns the family bar, frequented by the local sports teams and the many women who flock there to get their one night with one of the legendary O'Gallagher men.

Mia isn't completely inexperienced, but she has never been with a man. She figures what better way to gain it then to spend one night with her childhood crush and the very experienced Conner. There's just one problem. Conner has a rule: No Virgins.

One evening Conner approaches this woman he's been noticing at his bar. She's not his normal type, but there's something about her that he notices. She been coming to the bar alone for a few weeks, nurses one larger and watches him, yet never makes her move. So he decides his time to go to her.

Mia gets what she wants, though the condom breaks. But that's not what Conner is concerned about, he is pissed with a capital 'P' when he realizes she was a virgin. He's not very nice about it so Mia hightails it out of his place, yet Conner finds it hard to stop thinking about the virgin who seemed familiar.

Five months later when his sister invites her childhood friend to her birthday dinner after running into her at the mall, all things become clear. Conner at first is upset that she didn't tell him who she was, and freaked out that his life is about the change.

But sometimes life brings you thing you didn't expect exactly when you need them and Conner and Mia soon figure out that they are exactly what each of them never even knew they wanted.

This was so cute and sweet, yet super H.O.T. and sexy. This is my first read of this author and I know it won't be the last. I really really liked it. It was a very fast read and sometimes I'm skeptical of those, because they don't seem to put everything I need to make it a full story into them, but this one did. Could I have read more about Conner and Mia? ABSOLUTELY! But I can only assume there will be snippets of them in the upcoming stories about the other O'Gallagher siblings, which I'm hoping I get to read and review.

Thank you Mignon for allowing my one your journey. I hope to continue.

Mia has literally had a crush on Connor since she was in grade school when she was best friends with his baby sister Brenna. Fast forward 8 years and she's still has a crush on the same playboy. Connor and his brother Rory purchased their family bar from their parents after they retired and closed it down. Now Connor uses the upstairs apartment as his personal playground with a different woman every night after closing, sometimes more than one at a time. But never the same one twice and absolutely never a virgin. Mia wants to figure out a plan on how to convince Connor to be her first, but she can't even get up the nerve to go up to the bar and talk to him. She comes in and watched him flirt with the other scantily dressed ladies knowing she didn't measure up. However there something about her that catches his eye.... But he doesn't know who she is. Top find out what happens between Mia and Connor you'll have to read this novella, you'll be surprised at the chain of events, I know I was! I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.

One Night Stand (O'Gallagher Nights #1) by Mignon Mykel
I purchased this book.
This was a super sweet novella about Connor, the man whore, and Mia, the Wallflower, hooking up for a night but having some major ramifications after. If you are looking for a sexy and quick book about reforming a man-whore look no further!! LOL
Mia always had a crush on her besties brother, Connor, who of course didn’t even spare her a glace her way. When older Mia sees Connor, she is trying to think up a plan to get the bartender to notice her when all of a sudden, she is in his apartment for a one-night stand.
After their night, Connor finds out something about Mia who immediately runs out the door never telling him who she REALLY is…..fast forward a few weeks later annnnnnd Connor and Mia come face to face to pregnant belly!!
I loved seeing the two of them trying to figure out what is up and also navigating the feelings they develop for each other. Seeing hard as nails, rude as ever, arrogant and cocky Connor falling for the sweet, kind, shy and sassy-mouthed Mia made my heart melt. I loved the story and am looking forward to reading the other stories in the set.

One Night Stand
3.5 Stars
One Night Stand is a story about Conner O’Gallager and Mia Hampton. Walking back into Connor's life with the sole purpose of losing her virginity, Mia gets exactly what she wanted, and then some! Mia seemed like a down to earth heroine who I felt I could relate to and see myself in her story. I enjoyed the style of writing Mykel used to tell about Conner and Mia. I love alternating 1st person. This story had a very similar storyline to another book where a one night stand can result in repercussions neither were expecting. I felt drawn into this story and I was invested in the characters and their emotions. Watching Conner transform from a "man-whore" to book boyfriend materials gave me all the feels. I enjoy a story that I can relate to and also has steamy scenes between the sheets. One Night Stand was all that. This was the best out of all the O’Gallager Nights Series.

Wow! Hot🔥

Conor O’Gallagher is basically a MW that meets his match. He has bedded countless woman and has never given them a second thought until he meets curly locks aka Mia.
Mia grew up having a crush on Conor he was her ex best friends brother. When she hears of the type of guy he is, takes a different woman to bed every night, She comes up with the idea of losing her v-card to Conor. The only problem is he doesn’t bed virgins.
This short story really packs a punch. Mignon really gets to down to business and knows how to keep you wanting more. I loved watching Mia and Conor fall in love. Who ever said a hot MW couldn’t be tamed?

DNF at 50 percent

Lots of potential. Decent writing.

Spoiler alert: Decided not to finish the book because when Conor found out about the baby, he immediately decided to do a lifestyle 180 and become a devoted father and monogamous boyfriend. Of course, I expected that to happen by the end of the book, but not quite so soon. Conor's response felt so out of character for the single-minded playboy introduced in the first half of the book. While I'd likely find more conflict in the remainder of the book, Conor's speedy acquiescence took all the wind out of the story's sails and I felt like I didn't need to read any farther.

Omg, I really did not like Conor, he was such an arrogant, egotistical jerk! I mean, he made no apologies for how he treated women, and they all wanted to sleep with him anyway, but I had to wonder if I was going to see any endearing qualities that would make me feel differently about him. And what was Mia thinking, wanting to lose her virginity to someone like him?! After their one night stand, things definitely take a huge turn, and Conor becomes even more likeable than I hoped he could be. She's too soft for him, he's too hard for her, but together, they're perfect!

New to me author, this is my first book by this author.

I don’t think this book deserved the 1 star ratings just because he’s a man whore, we’ve read these type before and read the way said man was reformed. But I have to ask, how could he be reformed if he had no idea who Mia was so yes he went right back to being a man whore.

With that said this book could have been amazing if the author had taken the time to develop the characters and delve deeper, instead it was a superficial read BUT being a novella I should have known better.

I absolutely loved this novella, I literally could not put my kindle down. I loved the characters Conor and Mia and I connected with them immediately. I also really enjoyed the story line, plus there was a good amount of heat that worked perfectly within this great quick read.

I was only going to read this first book because I wanted to read something that had been written by this author. However I've already downloaded About Last Night which is Rory's story and the second book in the series. I can see a binge read on the cards!

Its Ok

This was just ok. There's a lot of sex, but it's not very balanced with story. They have sex, reunite six months later, and don't have sex again for another month. During that time we're told they dated, but that's not really shown. Mia was childhood friends with his sister Mia, but we aren't told or shown the real reason behind them not being friends anymore. More story to go with the sex would have been great.

Sweet baby daddy 3.5 stars

Im a little torn. I did enjoy this book , it felt short though .. it all felt really quick and I feel that there was an opportunity lost in their first month together to build more of their relationship - have a chapter or two about some great dates they went on .. but it was pretty much skipped over .
it was an enjoyable read though , I like the characters and want to read more about f the series and see how everyone ties together .

Short, hot read! Not much Irish mentioned or said except that they are 2nd generation Irish-American and they wear kilts on ladies night at their pub...Kilts are Scottish and they even mention that. I enjoyed the 2 man characters but not much said or developed with secondary characters. I guess since such a short read development was on the main characters only. Man-whore, commitment-phobe man falls for 25 year old virgin HARD! Pun intended 2.5 stars✌

Well, that was interesting. I probably would have DNF if the book wasn’t a novella. I really couldn’t stand Conor at the beginning with his man whorish ways and shallow lifestyle. I really didn’t understand Mia ‘s fascination with him. I also wasn’t a fan of the epilogue. That epilogue was just... unrealistic and blah.

I was a bit disappointed on the way this story was told. It’s more of a recap of their lives, instead of a story being told. Mostly it was a story of the sex. I loved the characters and how funny they were. It would have been awesome to experience their interactions as the relationship grew. Not just been told it happened. Does end great though.
