Mary Grace was nothing more than a waitress at a local bar, waiting tables and living her life quietly and without excitement. When her ex shows up to take her to be sold to a scientist, a scuffle ensues and she ends up almost losing her life. The one thing Savage Corvera wasn’t expecting to find was the voluptuous blonde waitress lying in a puddle of her own blood. His touch was meant to help, but the brush of his hand was all it took to know that the dying woman was his mate. There’s no hesitation when he makes the ultimate decision to save her life. The pride bands together to protect their own after the news spreads that scientists are moving into their small town. When a group of masked men invade The Deuce and Mary Grace is taken, Savage will live up to his name when he goes on the hunt for the men who dared to lay their hands on his mate.
Theresa is a mother of two and the wife of a retired Air Force Master Sergeant. After seventeen years traveling the country, moving from base to base, the family has settled their roots back in Theresa’s home town of Olive Branch, MS., where she enjoys her time with old friends and family.
Theresa daydreams of the perfect love affair and takes those ideas to paper.
And the author has done it again. Another awesome book.
Mary Grace is a human waitress in the bar that sisters, Liberty and Nova own. Mary Grace's creep of an ex trying to sell her to the scientist, he accidentally stabs her with a knife and leaves her for dead, Savage comes, touches her and realizes that she is his mate, he turns her and the majority of the book is about Mary Grace coming to terms with being a panther and then there is the build up with the scientist.
He has always been so protective of Mary Grace, I knew she was gonna be his at some point. So much happens to her in such a short time period that I really do not know how she was able to stay sane, other than the fact that she is a strong woman.
I am looking forward to reading the next book 'The Birth of an Alpha'. If you haven't started this series yet and you love Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance then you need to head over and get a copy. Your can get a e-copy of Book 1 'Talon' for free. So far all 3 book I haven't wanted to put down. Cant wait to see what happens in the other books.
This book had everything.....Romance, excitement, loyalty, LOVE and so much more!! Like Talon and Winter's books, Savage and his love for his true mate Mary Grace was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book and the storyline. I know it's fiction but I absolutely LOVE the love these panthers have for their mates and how protective they are of any women. I also love how strong and independent the ladies are and want to be able to do things on their own, even though their mates make it very hard for them. Rise of the Pride is a great paranormal romance series and I'm enjoying every single book!!!
Savage is my favourite out of the Guardians. There's just something about his bad boy personality that has a chemistry. The feminists who read these will curse me, but I don't care. I love his masculinity, how he will fight and kill for his mate. I know they all will, but there's just something about Savage... you know he is deadly just by his name. I sort of wish he had been the one to kill Frank, Mary Grace's ex but well at least he paid for what he did. I love how accepting Mary Grace is of Savage's protectiveness. She is unsure of her change and how quick it's all going, but still deep down you can see she trusts Savage to help her through it all. The sex scenes are hot too, as they should be.
The character development is brilliant and the cross over of the stories makes you really get lost in the world Theresa has created. I do love that Evie is finding a way to help herself get over the trauma she experienced in book 1, Talon. She isn't looking to rely on the males to protect her, even though she knows they can.
As I said, my favourite book out of the lot.

First I want to say, I loved this book, although some reviews are a little misleading. This book is about Savage and Mary Grace, and while Mary Grace does get kidnapped by the "mad scientists", it is at the very end of the book and she is missing for a few hours tops.
The book starts off with Mary Grace's creep of an ex trying to sell her to the scientist, he accidentally stabs her with a knife and leaves her for dead, Savage comes, touches her and realizes that she is his mate, he turns her and the majority of the book is about Mary Grace coming to terms with being a panther and then there is the build up with the scientist. All through the book, the readers know something is going to happen and I believe Theresa Hissong did a perfect job in building us up to it.
What I enjoyed most about this book, well the series altogether is that there is not endless chapters of them being to tortured and abused.
I am looking forward to reading Birth of an Alpha.
I fell in love with Savage Corvera's character from the previous books in this series. Savage was once human, but had to be turned into a panther shifter to save his life. Because of this, even though he knows he is part of the pride, he still feels the need to prove himself. Mary Grace is a human waitress in the bar that Liberty owns. Savage is drawn to her but he won't get too close. When Mary Grace's abusive ex tries to sell her to a lab, things turn violent and she's left for dead. Savage is forced to make a decision that he never wanted to make.
He knows he's her mate and you can feel the love he has for her. He doesn't want her to experience the pain that he went through. This was an amazing addition to this series. Not only do you fall in love with Savage and Mary Grace, but Theresa Hissong begins to expand on her shifter world, adding new characters, new challenges and new enemies. 5-stars!
This is another great book in the Rise of the Pride series. I seriously love this series. You get action, love, intense moments, scary situations, and snippets of other characters. So Savage Corvera is a guardian who seems to only have eyes for Mary Grace. Now keep in mind that males do not touch women period for the chance that the woman may or may not be their mate. Once touched the mating instinct is triggered. In this case, the initial touch is definitely unusual. Mary Grace has her fair share of exes. But one ex-boyfriend takes it to the extreme. So now the touch is initiated and more. You will need tissues because the poop hits the fan very early on. I loved to read how Savage is a take no crap type of guy and very hardcore but around Mary Grace he is a softy. Their chemistry is off the charts and so perfect for each other. I am ready for the next book.
I'm so glad this book came out in December because I had to take a break outside in the cold to get away from the hotness that is Savage. All of Hissong's panthers are strong and protective males, and Savage is no different. Well maybe a little, I mean if there wasn't a alpha, that we all love, at the head of pride already, Savage could be Alpha. He has always been so protective of Mary Grace, I knew she was gonna be his!!!! So much happens to her in such a short time period that I really do not know how she was able to stay sane, other than the fact that she is a strong woman. I adore seeing the contrast between the strong protective male and his soft marshmallow center!! I am a nervous wreck for the next book, but I can not wait either.
I really enjoyed this book and the connection between Savage and Mary Grace. It was great to see how loving and protective Savage is with her, especially in the wake of how the horrific way they discover they are "mates" at the beginning of the book. I love that Theresa Hissong writes her Heroes to completely and utterly worship the ground their mates walk upon. This goes a long way in Mary Grace's instance as she struggles with very low self esteem and he helps her accept her beauty and worth. All the while, trouble is brewing for shifters because a team of scientists are in town and up to nefarious activities. This book definitely had some elements of sadness around that with danger lurking for the pride and was a book I devoured in one sitting.
I don't know how to feel about this series. I feel like I should like it more than I do. It has all the right elements, the story pieces are all there, but there's just something...missing? I'm still bothered by the "nobody can touch the women" idea. It just seems impractical and limiting. I was way more interested in hearing about what's up with the bears. I'll keep reading, but if the next few books don't grab me somehow I think I'm going to retire this series. I like the author's other works, so maybe it's just that this one just gel for some reason? It's well written, characters are developed well, etc. I think it's just the one plot device that I just can't get past (the no touching for non-mated males).
I love the possessive protectiveness of these mates and Savage is a prime example. Savage's character was a contradiction totally growly and demanding with the world but the his mate he is so sweet and gentle it's really amazing to read.
With each book in the series we are learning more about the pride and how the humans are dealing with the realisation that shifters are real. Dark forces are threatening the safety of Talons pride and he and his guardians will not stand by and let anyone hurt their family.
These books are fast paced and well written. Looking forward to what comes next.
Can you imagine knowing a person is your soulmate by a single touch. Makes a person wish that such men were real. Besides being shifters these men are loyal, protective, affectionate and very loving. Savage and his people are in the alert. A medical corporation has moved into town with a hidden agenda. When they kidnap his mate he will live up to his name. They won't see him coming until it's too late.
Mary Grace and Savage's story was good. I still find my favorite is book two, Nova and Winter's story. Savage knew there was something between him and Mary Grace. One night changed Mary Grace's life forever. Savage finding her almost dead decided to change her and make her part of the pride and his mate. She gets kidnapped by the mad scientists. Good grammar and spelling. I recommend reading the first two books in the series.

First time reading from this author. I am under the impression they've met before and he helped her out with an ex. He didn't want to touch her in case she was his mate and only touched her because he had to to save her. The big nope from me was he tied her to the bed with rope, even though she showed fear and asked him not to, because she wouldn't open up and explain herself to him. With out this the story would have been pretty good.
I really like this series! After Liberty and Nova it was great to have a heroine that wasn't quite as bold. Savage was the perfect fit for reserved Mary Grace. The problems surrounding the Shaw pride deepen, although it seems to be personal problem of Mary Grace's at first. Great story with some interesting twists.
This book loving and angering at the some time, I got emotional swept away with this book. It's really hard to find a author that can get me emotional invested in a storyline, this on but home because of the testing I think. But understanding what's happened so far in the series has made that happen. Thanks Theresa awesome read again.
Still one star for the writing, but this one wasn't as much of a satisfying guilty pleasure as the previous ones I've read in this series and from this author. Although the world gets expanded on with a more tangible threat filling the plot besides the romance, the execution is cringy enough to make your eyes roll. Leaving it at 2 stars rather than the 3 stars I've given the previous books.
As always, Theresa has stunned me, yet again, with another fantastic addition to her written arsenal! This one really had me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't help but gobble it up in one sitting (something I'm THOROUGHY regretting at the moment!)
Each book in this series is better than the last. I love the story of Savage and Mary Grace. I find it so romantic how all these men are so protective of their mates and yet at the same time can be so "Savage" if anyone in their pride is in danger.
I have really enjoyed this series, and the 3rd book is awesome! The storyline flows through all the books. I recommend this book to anyone that loves paranormal romance.
A group called the community open a lab to kidnap and study shifters. They kidnap Mary Grace and Savage goes wild. Savage has to change her or let her die.
This story was incredible, outstanding, exciting and just awesome!!!! This whole book was thrilling and had some hot 🔥as hell 😄characters!!! Theresa has done ✔it again with another great storyline!.
I am just loving this series!! Savage and Mary Grace are just perfect for each other! I can’t see them with anyone else! I am rather curious on what is going to Happen with Evie and Kye. Can’t wait to read the next book!
Savage and Mary Grace are perfect together! Every book I read in this series adds to the depth of this series! The only criticism I have is how fast I am flying through them because they are that GREAT!! I can't wait to read what happens next! The plot thickens and has me hooked!
Each book gives more and more into the prides way of life. You need to be prepared for Savage. He's powerful, yet a marshmallow when it comes to his mate. The twist and turns kicks up the heart rate and gut punches you almost all at once.
About the shifter panther Savage, he finds his mate in shy Mary Grace a human who works for bosses Liberty and Nova. She becomes a panther after shes nearly killed by wolves and later human scientists
Another fantastic shifter story. The series just keeps getting better. Loving the loyalty of the males. They are extremely sexy if not stubborn but they are marshmallows for their mates.
I really loved this book. This series just keeps getting better with each book! I loved Savage and his protector nature. He just wanted to make the best life for his new mate. I loved everything about this book!
