For those of us who long for love and companionship in our afternoons. Sometimes we simply need a reminder to keep the faith and that love is not something you discover. It cannot be acquired or invented. Trust that love will come looking for you when you are ready. Be happy, and be hopeful. I see good things. In the series timeline, this story sits alongside Watcher, book #9. Secret Santa, #9.75.Full ready for dancing, dining, and dunkings, because when you open your door on Christmas Eve to see Santa on your front porch, what else do you do?Meet Peter Teravest, also known as Truck, a nomad biker who finds himself sitting in the Florida panhandle alone one Christmas Eve. Truck has seen challenges in his life, and made his way out the other side with the help of his brothers in the Rebel Wayfarers MC. Ready to start a new chapter, he's purchased a home sight-unseen, and arrives a day ahead of schedule and in a bind. Cue Vanna Reicht, his nearest neighbor who just happens to have friends in common with Truck. They share a meal, chatting and talking like long-lost friends. It's late. It's Christmas Eve. It's also comfortable, sweet, and oh-so complicated. *Please note this book is part of the Rebel Wayfarers MC book series, featuring characters from additional books in the series. If the books are read out of order, you’ll twig to spoilers for the other books, so going back to read the skipped titles won’t have the same angsty reveals. I strongly recommend you read them in order. For reals? Okay. In this story, I’m Vanna. Big secret, right? My road name, CB radio handle, trail name, and nickname is Peepers. I hike, love to help people, hate to ask for help, and am a single mom to a special needs son with autism. So totally Vanna. Ta dah! Like you didn’t already know it. Pfffttt.Last year, I spun up some old-school Christmas songs, thinking they would help pass the time. Those songs evoke sentimentality on a primal level, and within a matter of minutes I was driven to what seems to be my coping go-to these I grabbed the computer and opened a fresh, new document. And I wrote. It felt good as I settled Vanna and Kitt. Helping them find their way through Kitt’s growing adulthood, stamping the developmental changes into place that I know so well. By about 5 a.m., I had pretty much solidified Truck in my head, as well as on the page. He roared in and took control in places, and I gotta say, I love how he is with Vanna and Kitt. Truck enjoys a kind of intuitive empathy I wish everyone had.I cannot speak for every parent or caregiver of a special needs child, but I know I long for the day when my son can be more independent. Not for me, but for him. He definitely recognizes how his age peers have moved along, passed him on the road to adulthood, and impatiently waits to join their journey. Emphatically and loudly, he wants more. And he’ll get there, I have faith. My Christmas wish? Here’s hoping all our fledglings soar.Woofully yours,~ML
Raised in the south, Wall Street Journal & USA TODAY bestselling author MariaLisa deMora learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says "I've always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading...if nothing else is available, I've been known to read the back of the cereal box."
A member of Romance Writers of America, deMora has penned a variety of stories, with five established series that include motorcycle romance, veteran repatriation, and time travel, as well as a romantic standalone, dark suspense, and a legal thriller. Her website is filled with links and information, as well as extras like character interviews, playlists, poetry, and trailer videos!
Her short bio reads, "Plate-spinner / cat herder at work; totally geeked author; single mom in the thick of autism at home; hockey freak; wanna-be hiker; usta-be/on-again EQ gamer."
Oh my! This was just so fucking beautiful! I absolutely loved this story, especially because at first it took me a minute to remember who Vanna and Kitt were, but after the first chapter I remembered them from Gunny's book and I was so glad that they get their HEA!!
MdM you never fail to get me emotional and this short story totally accomplished that but it was a happy emotional!
Loved Secret Santa. This is a short yet cute story about Vannah and Truck. You know Vannah from Gunny. This is her happily ever after with Truck! Truck is SAA and is well aware of the Rebel Wayfarers MC club. I just loved how they are intertwined but didn't know it. Sweet surprise. What I loved most about this story is Kitt. He brought so much depth to the story, a pleasant surprise.
It was nice to catch up with characters we met in Gunny's book. Wonderful heart warming holiday read to get lost in for a night. The story moves quickly and before you know it you have reached the end. No crazy cliffhanger or frustrating what happens next scenario. I only hope to hear more about Truck in future books. Thanks for the gift of story MariaLisa deMora.
How awesome that this story shows that fate is a beautiful thing and she knows what should be, Truck was out of luck when he got to his new home and went to the neighbor , her knowing his brothers and another club helped, meeting her son and helping with Christmas , a little boy and a voice makes the love shine
Absolutely loved this short story. Vanna so deserves her own Hea. Kitt is awesome and such a strong character. Truck is the answer to so many prayers for this small family. It's one of those feel good books that brings a tear to your eyes bit makes you smile at the same time. Great read definitely recommend this book and series to everyone.
I really liked this book. So sweet and caring patient between all three of them. I loved these two together. Also loved the son. It takes a lot of understanding and patients. This was a good Xmas story.
Awww, a sweet, heartwarming story about Truck, a RWMC nomad, who one Christmas eve knocks on Vanna's (who we have met before) door needing help. It doesn't take him long at all to fall fast and hard for Vanna and her autistic son, Kitt.
Loved secret Santa produced my heart but that doesn't surprise me in the least. You have a way of doing that. Excellent read highly recommend with the series.
Christmas in September😊 loved every minute of the short novella I'll probably read it again in December that's how much I enjoyed it can't wait till the next book
MariaLisa deMora is one of only a handful of authors whose books I know, in full certainty, will make me feel so much better about life. Every single time. She gives us characters and situations that both draw on and awaken our empathy, and leaves us with hope and love in our hearts. And so it was no hardship whatsoever to welcome Truck, Vanna and Kitt into my literary life, and getting to meet them with minimal angst made this a perfect Christmas story. Knowing how much of the author's own life was in this story just made it so much better. A truly beautiful read.
Secret Santa - Rebel Wayfarers MC , #9.75 - MariaLisa deMora
This was a short Christmas novella about Truck , a biker who is a loner and decides to root his life in Florida at the drop of a hat and finds himself instantly falling for his neighbor Vanna even amongst all the issues each of them have to work out. I enjoyed this quick spicy HEA , but felt I , myself needed to read the whole Rebel Wayfarers MC series in order to know their friends as well as their own backgrounds better.
Loved the story , but recommend reading the whole series first.
What a beautiful story. I knew Vanna - Peepers was "modelled" after the author but in this story we learn so much more about dealing with autism. Personally I have had no exposure so it was a learning experience for me. I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for parents who live with this on a daily basis. As for the story itself - Truck is amazing and we already knew Vanna was but she shone in a bigger light in this one. The two of them together - magic!
When Peter Teravest ( Truck) bought a house in Florida panhandle when he arrives a day ahead of schedule and thing happen that are out of his control. He goes to his nearest neighbor to get help and finds out they get along like they are long times friends. He never planned on meeting the women who would change his life forever. Cue Vanna Reichti is single mother of a special need child who is kind and sweet and everything he never though he wanted until now.....
Truck and Vanna were a pleasure to read about. What a sweet holiday love story and Kitt was just precious! it takes special people to accept a child/adult with special needs and I feel this was a lovely example.
This is my first book by MariaLisa deMora I don't usually read MC books, this is a sweet moving story of Christmas and 3 needy people who get what they didn't know they needed in their lives. I will now have to check out the rest of the series.
A sweet Christmas story. They fell quickly in love with each other and Kitt. Don't know what they did with the house he bought a d I would have liked to know what his brothers, The Rebels, felt since they all knew Vanna.
Peter Teravest; aka Truck......what a man. He's everything that dream-men are made of and he is exactly what Ms. Vanna Reicht needs. I love how they come together; by just a twist of fate. He needs a phone and she has a phone. She also has a beautiful son named Kit who is autistic.
I admire how dedicated Vanna is to making and keeping her son's life on an 'even keel'. She's given up 'herself' in many ways but whatever she's done is in the name of love because her son means everything to her. Kit who is wonderfully written is a happy boy, well adjusted, and just coming into understanding how his thinking works. He's on the precipice and quite often frustrated with himself. Enter 'Truck' who proves himself to be a man with an open heart; ready for that something he's wanted in his life for decades; his own family, that one woman. When he and Vanna meet they're like magnets being drawn together by a force so far beyond their control. What happens between Truck and Kit: beautiful. Truck finds his place, his woman, his family.
This is such a terrific Christmas story. Makes a person appreciate the love in their lives during the season when a person's heart is already feeling 'larger'.
I am at a loss for words. MariaLisa has done it yet again. She pulled me into her story and had me on the edge of my seat rooting for Vanna, Truck and Kitts happily ever after story. This story gives hope to all the single moms out here waiting for their “truck” to come in, all while being the strong, steady mom our kids need us to be. Thank you.
Secret Santa is a sweet short read that is endearing and well worth your time I fell in love with the characters from the first page and never looked back!
