Lei'd with Cupcakes

Rate this book
Everybody dreams of a Hawaiian Vacation…

They sell you on the drinks with little umbrella’s, dolphin watching, and long walks on the beach. Which probably happens, if you’re that lucky schmuck living out your dream with your destination wedding, but if you’re a fish out of water PI like me, there’s no time for relaxing because trouble is never far behind.

Instead of cocktails, I ended up dealing with the seedy underbelly of The Big Island.
And, I didn’t see one damn dolphin while undercover on a boat which was spilling over with drug dealers, Kingpins, and Pedophiles.

Elin and Elena think Cade's family are the coolest people outside of Snapchat, but it’s hard to meet the parents when your boyfriend is in his late thirties and has never had a serious relationship.

I’d never missed my girls so much in my life, but Amy May, Bea, and Carmen are all dealing with issues of their own, and can’t come to my rescue.

The only thing that may help me with this “vacation” is if I could get Lei’d with Cupcakes.

Not going to lie, book 3 was a rough one.
Bethany had a talent to take you from laughing to OMG in 0-100. In this book Cade, Lila, Elin and Elena go to Hawaii so Cade can introduce them to his parent and sister Alani. Everything is perfect in paradise at first. But on the first night Lila over hear a conversation that leaves her very off kilter. Of course Ms Horton cant go away and just enjoy herself. Nope that is not happening.
Lets just say that Paradise is not all it's cracked up to be....That being said just because your a teenager doesn't mean that you dont have feelings. Also when a much older man shows interest in a teenager that teenager needs to run....WARNING.....This book has a subject matter which was difficult for me to read. YET in true Bethany fashion it was approached with class

Favorite Quotes:

Being the mother of eleven, almost twelve, year-old twins, you’d think I’d be used to them doing things in unison like that, but no … That shit is freaky every time.

I could feel all eyes on me as I retched all over the floor, and I had to admit, the red velvet cupcake no longer seemed like a good idea. It looked like I had internal bleeding. I was assuming that, coupled with my nausea and the perception that I’d peed myself earlier, did not make me the best candidate for the auction block. ‘She ain’t going nowhere,’ Yusuf replied. ‘And with the merchandise we’re already selling, we’ll probably have to pay one of the clients to take her off our hands.’

See, I knew even then that the kind of woman I wanted to marry would be wild like the sea, with a calm at her center, a generous spirit, and the kind of beauty that makes people stop and look. Not just one the outside, but because they know what’s underneath the surface is just as magical as what’s on the outside.

No matter what happens, I’ll never let you go, and I’ll never give you reason to want to let me go.

I guess I haven’t really traveled that much in my life, because I wasn’t prepared for how happy I was to be home. Seriously. I wanted to hug my front door and kiss my porch, that’s how excited I was to see my little house again.

My Review:

Lila and Cade take their adventures on a family visit to Hawaii and the Big Island may never be the same. Lila’s baby making hips were a hit with Cade’s mom who appears to be suffering a severe case of grandma fever. However, Lila wants to make a good impression and declares his parents’ home will be a No Sex Zone during their stay, which only leads to a build up of frustration and culminates in unbridled sexcapades. And, of course, snoopy Lila finds trouble - even when she’s not looking for it - and stumbles into a dangerous hive of criminal activity. I adore Ms. Lopez’s irreverent and witty humor, vivid descriptions, comical inner musings, and the peculiar predicaments the saucy Lila unearths and injects herself into. The writing and storyline were highly amusing, engaging, and intriguing. I am eager for the next installment to see what the intrepid Lila flings herself into next.

Title: Lei'd With Cupcakes
Author: Bethany Lopez
Genre: Contemporary romance,
Comedy, Suspense
Rating: 3/5

Lei'd With Cupcakes is the third book in the Cupcakes series but can easily be read as a standalone which is how I read it, names were brought up that were obviously from the previous books but there's no confusion as to who they are in relation to the main characters. Lila's in Hawaii with Cade on what's supposed to be a vacation/meet the family thing but it soon becomes so much more when the Private Investigator within her doesn't lie dormant and she manages to find her way into trouble but in this case it's a good thing. I really wanted to like this soo much more than I did but I couldn't connect to Lila myself, she's supposed to be this bad ass Private Investigator I just couldn't see it myself I found her wishy washy she didn't really do it for me at all but Cade he was totally different he was confident, sexy in control even a tad dominant. I feel the book would have benefited more if it had been told from his POV along with Lila's in my opinion he would have been the stronger character. The book does deal with some darker issues but there's also a good amount of humour and the sex scenes were rather hot they didn't disappoint.

I enjoyed the authors style of writing and would definitely read another one of her books, this was an enjoyable read but like I already said in my opinion it would have been better if it were written from a dual POV.

This was a relatively quick read a nice way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon along with a warm cup of tea, well that's how I read it anyway.

I had no idea what to expect going into this audiobook, but I seriously LOVED every second of it!! All of the breathtaking twists and turns only magnified my enjoyment and enthrallment. The characters were real, and I loved how unique and fun they were there. This story had so much packed into it, and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! This series sounds incredible, and I can't wait to delve farther into it!

Bethany Lopez has shown just how flexible and formidable of an author she is, and I fall in love each other her amazing stories! Her stories are real and pull at my heart in such a strong way that I am utterly swept away helpless and delighted. She is a fantastic author, and I can't wait to enjoy her next marvelous experience!

The performance of this audiobook was fun and so very entertaining. I enjoyed every second of it! The narrator really brought this funny yet so very real mom to life, and I hung on every word. This was an experience that I hope to have again.

I'm really enjoying this series. These characters have so much going for them that I can't wait to see what happens next. I love Cade's momma, she is amazing! Cade is still gorgeous in all his alpha male glory. Lila and her girls are the best group of girl friends I would love to call my own. I was so so so excited about the news and how it all occurred. Sweetest way ever!

This was another really great book by Bethany Lopez. Lila and Cade are back in all their wonderfulness, and this time, Cade is taking Lila and her kids to meet his parents. I love that this series isn't your typical romance. Things are a bit fun and crazy at times, but the love and friendships (and cupcakes!) are what make this story so unique.

This book also has some drama and suspense, and being in Hawaii doesn't stop Lila from finding trouble. Or does it find her? Either way, she can't not help when someone Cade loves is in trouble, so off to the rescue she goes. When things go south, Lila finds herself in over her head.

I really liked Cade's parents. They were pretty laid back, and I enjoyed how welcoming they were to Lila and her kids. And, of course, I love me some Cade. It's pretty simple - he's hot and he's awesome. What's not to like? I did miss Lila's girls this time around, but hopefully we'll get more of their stories in the future.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Lei'd With Cupcakes. This was a really quick read and a great addition to the series.

Who wouldn't love a vacation in Hawaii? I mean, sun, sand, surf, how much more relaxing and attractive could a destination be? Add in meeting the family of the man of your dreams, and it should be nothing but smooth sailing. Unless your Lila Compton, because, even when she wants to take it easy, chances are good that things will not go as planned.

Author Bethany Lopez has brought her 'A' game again with LEI'D WITH CUPCAKES, the third book in her Cupcakes series. Besides the sun and fun, this is a read chock-full of all of the things that make these books so enjoyable.

Lila's her same snarky, sassy, jump-right-in self, but I wouldn't have it any other way. She doesn't even have to look for trouble in Paradise, because it finds her anyway, and she more than rises to the occasion. Aided by Cade and his family and friends, Lila never stops kicking butt and taking names.

We finally get to see a different side of Cade here, and, if possible, I love him even more. He's still the big, strong, take-charge alpha guy that we know and love, but being home with his family shows his softer, more relaxed side. There's a moment (and you'll know it when you see it) that was so seriously swoony that I could just see it, that endeared him to me forever.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in this series, because the characters are engaging, there is such a strong emphasis on friends and family, and they constantly make me laugh out loud. LEI'D WITH CUPCAKES has all of this and more, and leaves me hoping for more shenanigans with the whole crazy crew. 4.5 sweet, sexy, action-packed stars for this treat of a read.

~~~~THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS~~~~
Hawaii, a hot boyfriend, and a vacation all rolled into one. What can go grow wrong with that? It's paradise. You walk out of the backdoors and not only do you hear the ocean but the beach is right there. Perfection, right?
Not all is perfect, and neither is this vacation.
Lila, Cade, and Lila's twins are heading to the big island to visit with Cade's family. His family welcomes Lila and her twins immediately. But despite where she is sleeping she has sworn off having sex in his parents house. But finding ways to get around that rule leads to a hysterical confrontation with his parents, and the second time leads to coral burns.
But with Lila being a PI she gets the itch, and a feeling that something bad is going to happen and that, Cade's sister may be involved.
But how do you enjoy your vacation, spend time with your kids, your hot boyfriend, and getting close to his family, and still go on a discovery mission.
You don't when your boyfriend figures you out and makes you tell him. When he fears his sister may be involved he enlists his childhood friends for answers and help.
Lila can't wait for anything g to happen. That's not in her blood. So she goes on out to break the case wide open. The only thing that stops her is getting caught in the middle of everything.
She also finds herself on a boat, the one thing she has always hated.
Once again Ms. Lopez has written another fantastic book in this series. I laughed, I cried, and I bit my nails till the very last page.
All the characters you loved from the previous two books, don't worry they all make an appearance.
I can't wait for more in the series.
4.5 Fabulous Stars! This is the third book in the Cupcakes Series and can be read as a standalone novel. Lila, Cade, and Lila's twins go on vacation to Hawaii to meet Cade's family. While in Hawaii Lila gets a feeling that something is wrong and and ends up putting on her PI hat. Lila starts to go on a discovery mission but does not want her boyfriend to find out since this is supposed to be their vacation. When Cade finds out about what happened and that his sister may be involved he enlists the help of some of his friends. What will happen to Lila and will Cade be able to forgive her? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it one evening. The writing I felt flowed and the characters had amazing chemistry. The story is filled with suspense, action, angst and romance. I found myself laughing, crying, and sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I completely connected with the characters and felt how they were feeling throughout the book. I read the first book in the series and will definitely go back and read the one I missed! I highly recommend this novel and look forward to see where Ms. Lopez goes next!
I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.
CADE!
If you've read the other books in this series, then you know that name. You crave that name. You loooooove that name. I know I do. In Lei'd With Cupcakes, Lila & Cade's story continues where book 2 left off. They are on their way to Cade's home - Hawaii. Let the shenanigans begin.
In this book, we get to meet Cade's family. His parents and his sister are the perfect addition to this series. They are yet another set of lovable characters of Bethany's creation, and I couldn't help but fall in love with them.
Of course, with Lila being a PI, there's bound to be trouble for her to find. Being on vacation on a beautiful island doesn't stop her from snooping around, looking for a mystery to solve.
We get more suspense & thrills, with a healthy dose of humor thrown in the mix. And thankfully, more sexy time with Cade. *waggling my eyebrows*
Bethany's writing make it easy to visualize everything as I turn the pages. I thoroughly enjoy her writing and always know I'll get a great story with realistic characters.
I am a fan of this author and I highly recommend you get Lei'd by Cade... I mean WITH CUPCAKES.
Lena, her twins Erin and Elena, and Cade are flying to his parent's house in Hawaii for a visit. Cade's parents were wonderful and welcomed them all like they were family (of course Cade was). The kids loved learning to surf, especially Elena. Cade's sister was getting ready to graduate from high school and was undecided what she wanted to do. She was also acting funny so Lena was trying to find out what was going on (her PI skills and antenna were tingling). You will need to read the book to see what happens.
Cade's parents were so funny and relaxed. Lena got embarrassed a few times and there were some funny scenes. Cade and Lena had a great relationship and knew each other pretty well since they had been dating for awhile. There was some suspense in the book too that had you on the edge of your seat. It was a good story once you got into the book. I encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
Book three of this series is just as much fun as the first two, but does have an underlying more serious mystery than the others. Lila and her twins are invited to go to Hawaii with her boyfriend Cade to meet his family. But with Lila, it's not just an introduction! There is always more to her, between the No Sex Zone she has with Cade and the overheard conversation of Cades' younger sister, Lila leads us to humor and suspense! That is what makes this series so good. Bethany Lopez integrates a wonderfully, innovative sense of humor with a serious case that Lila is set out to solve. Her intuitiveness is stellar and always leads to a positive conclusion. I am enjoying this series immensely, though I am still waiting for some recipes for the delicious cupcakes that are always described!
Kerian Kane gives a great performance, an enjoyable pace and a variety of voices. It's my first listen by her and it was a good introduction to her ability.
This while book 3 in a series is the first one I have read. I didn't feel like I was lost though. I love the idea of this book anyway as I love Lila's love of cupcakes, it add a very fun element to the story (series).
But this book has a little bit of everything one could love in a book. Suspense, love, happiness, laughter, family/friends. You can't go wrong with any aspect of this book. Seeing both Lila and Cade happy and in love then throw in the case to be solved and how Lila gets involved sure keeps it fun and you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens.
I love Lila's friends, her twins, Cade's entire family...every single character you grow to love and they only seem to bring the story up and never one do you feel they drag down this story.
If you like a good mystery with romance this is a definite must read.
I think Lei'd with Cupcakes might just be my favorite in the series so far. Lila and Cade are sexy as ever, steaming things up while vacationing in Hawaii, spending time getting to know his parents and exploring the island. Things heat up even more when Lila, having PI withdrawals, stumbles across a mystery involving Cade's baby sister, Alani. Lila and Cade quickly discover things aren't as they seem and it's not just Alani who may be in danger. As always, Bethany includes a wonderful cast of new and familiar faces that make reading the cupcake series even more enjoyable. I loved getting to meet Cade's parents, sister and best mates. It was fun seeing where he came from...where his roots were. This series is perfect for summer days on the beach or by the pool. Quick, sexy and laugh out loud reads, you definitely should give this series a go!
Lila's family set off with Cade for a relaxing trip to Hawaii to visit his family. Somehow things never go as planned for Lila as she lands smack in the middle of a major ring of illegal dealings. She sets out of save Alani and finds herself needing rescue.
This series gets better with each book. I love that we get to see the relaxed side of Cade with his family. His Mom and Dad are amazing and love Lila, Elin and Elena from day one. The kids get to experience life with doting grandparents as Lila falls even more in love with Cade. This book has some pretty heavy material and isn't quite as light and funny as the previous books. I think that is in part because her girls aren't there. Despite being in his childhood home this one is plenty steamy. Loving these characters more and more.
Book three in the Cupcakes Series picks up where book two left off. The series should be read in order for full understanding.
Lila and Cade are off to Hawaii to meet Cade's family and have a relaxing vacation in paradise. Lila can't fully take a break from being a PI though and finds herself investigating a human trafficking ring.
This series is hilarious and the books are quick reads since I couldn't put it down once I started. Lila and Cade are perfect for each other and I love how their relationship continues to build in every book. Cade's family were just as awesome as he is. I'm looking forward to what's next in this series!!
I received a free ARC of this book and I am voluntarily writing an honest review.
Cade, Lila, and her twins are heading to Hawaii for a relaxing vacation.....what could possibly go wrong? Lila is worried Cade's family won't like her but they take an immediate liking to her. Lila, however, is forever in PI mode.While the twins are eating up the fun and sun that Hawaii has to offer, Lila finds a way to land smack dab in the middle of mystery. Will Lila solve this case? Will she become a member of Cade's family? I love the characters in this book, new and old. The writing flowed and of course the suspense added to it. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, Bethany Lopez threw a twist in there. Definitely recommend this book to others!
This series was a blast. Funny sexy with some pretty good action and intrigue as well in this last book. Cade, Lila and the kids head to Hawaii to meet the family and boy is it a hoot. The hits are hysterical and the sex scenes are hot as all get out. Lila finds herself in major trouble just as we expect from her but this time I had a hard time placing her as the strong in control butte kicking PI. Other than that I laughed and enjoyed the last book in the series the parents were a hoot. Cade was just yummy sauce and the friends added to the enjoyment. Awesome series from this writer which I overall thoroughly enjoyed. Can't wait for the next series from this writer and more for years to come.
I've been a huge fan of the series and couldn't wait for the next book. I enjoyed the story and it's never a dull moment with Lila and Cade. In this book we deal with some tough subject matter. I'm glad that the author showed some light on this issue. It was nice catching up the gang. Cade as usual NEVER disappoints in these books. As much as I enjoyed the story I felt the ending was a little abrupt. This is a good story for a rainy day that will have you wishing you were in Hawaii.
I absolutely love this series! The author does an amazing job with the storyline and the characters. When I read this book, I though it was funny, sexy, loving and touched on the realistic problem our society has on trafficking of young people. Oh course, our heroine Lila always finds a case to solve and gets in a little trouble and needs our hero Cade to come in and help! Great ending and I am so excited for the next book!!
Really fast paced this instalment. I loved being back in this world. The short snappy chapters work well for this book. Whilst I did feel at first when I started reading this series this had parallels to another favourite series of mine. It isn't and I love this series for totally different reasons and can't wait to read the fourth instalment.
More intense
This book is more intense than the first two books. I was in the edge of my seat for a while. Cade proves once again he's true romantic. However when Lila gets into trouble his badas$ alpha biker personality pushes front and center. There are some really sweet scenes with twins and Cade's family. Love this series.
I love this series!!! This one deals with a series subject matter, but it's the humor that keeps me reading. Just because you're somewhere beautiful and breath taking doesn't mean there isn't danger....and if you're Lila, you're going to find it. There is something for everyone in this book and the series just gets better and better for me.
This book is just as thrilling and romantic as the first book in this series. If you're looking for a romance novel with page turning thrill you've found it. The characters are relatable and so is the storyline. This book brings to light subjects that need to be talked about. It's a must read!!!!
Such a quick and fun read! I love the obsession with cupcakes, I mean who doesn’t connect with that! I love the connection everyone in this family has, and I have to say Mama is a hoot! You have a little bit of drama and suspense but not too much to overwhelm someone who isn’t into that. Definitely worth listening!
I definitely liked this series. It was a romantic thriller but also had bits of romcom around the more serious parts. I loved how funny the older couple was, and how well they took in their new "grandkids". Lopez also touched on big topics such as underage sex trafficking and drug running, she made the topics serious but still light enough that it didn't bring the book down.
