People, this is how you write a love triangle. Admittedly I'm not a fan of the trope - there is always one party who is being left behind and unhappy and usually that one is wonderful and dreamy. Oh no no no, don't be so rash, all three parties in this story are wonderful.

There is Mila - a beautiful successful young woman who was left on her wedding day without a reason. She has never had any closure, there were no signs preluding the events that happened. Weeks later she had revenge on her mind when she went out for a one night stand. Instead of sex she sobbed into the guy's neck. For hours. And the man? He held her. And the rest, as they say, is history. Drew has been her best friend since that night eight years ago. Today Mila leads maybe not a happy but a content and busy life. And lately there has been a new, exciting undertone to Drew's and Mila's relationship and she is ready to explore it.

Locking eyes with the man you haven't laid eyes on for eight years while holding an acceptance speech for an award you've received would shock anyone. Just when things start to look up for her everything Mila worked so hard for comes apart at the seams. And there Cole only wanted to get a glimpse of the woman he has never forgotten.

Aaaah these characters were amazing. All of them. The whole lot. Mila, Cole, Drew (and Grant...but that's for later). Mila is a strong woman with an iron will, tenacious and a no-nonsense attitude. She says what's on her mind, cares deeply and tries to do right by everyone. Not much gets to her these days but when Cole comes back into her life she unravels. Who wouldn't?

I need to get him out. Out of my head, out of my skin. - Mila

I loved Mila's and Drew's connection, their sexy banter and friendship. While Drew seems mostly easygoing he is a complicated character with a matching past.

And Cole so broken, so wonderful. He was fighting so hard for his love.

In running from my demons, I ran away from the only thing that could help me tame them. - Cole

Every action by the main characters of this story has a purpose and reason. There wasn't a single thing that wasn't supposed to happen or happened for drama's sake. Even Cole's reason to leave wasn't a half-assed or extraneous one. That was quite a surprise and I really could understand why he did the things he did and didn't do the things he was supposed to do. I know. Cryptic. Bear with me. Or better yet, read the book!
Anyhoo, these people felt absolutely real and I fell in love with all three of them. Oh and Grant? The resident man-ho and cocky bastard? I'm so curious about him!

This is my second book by this author and I loved my first journey with her but this one? This story is special. Veronica Larsen guides us masterfully through the story and shows us Drew's, Cole's and Mila's pain. She makes us feel the whole spectrum of emotions and care deeply for all three of the characters until she leads us to a satisfying happy end. And all the while you can't decide who to root for because Drew and Cole are equally wonderful in their own way.

I'm buried under an avalanche of need eight years tall. I never expected this to happen. How could I ever imagine she'd climb over me like this? So bold. So fucking sexy. - Andrew

Ms. Larsen's writing is impeccable and I appreciated the dry and cheeky humor that came through every now and then and relieved the angst a little bit.
I know many people don't like triangles and I always go into them feeling anxious but if they were always like that? Sign me up.

★4-4.5 STARS★

Mila Zelenko was left crushed on what should have been the happiest day of her life. Abandoned and humiliated by the man she loved and trusted, she has since closed off her heart and concentrated her efforts in furthering her career.

Her tenacity is rewarded by the receiving a prestigious accolade, but what should be a fulfilling moment instead reopens the chasm of discontent between her personal and work life.

Andrew has been her friend and confidant and has supported her throughout her tough times. Just as the prospect of something romantic begins to grow, the ghost of her past reappears and with it feelings she thought she had long buried.

It was a far cry from the messy melodrama and drawn out angst I envisage when I think of a love triangle. I was enthralled by the thought that had obviously gone into this story, as well as the development of the plot and characters. I truly felt a myriad of emotions when reading but none more so than the joy of Mila’s happy ending.

For someone who was hesitant to pick up a love triangle, I absolutely could not put this down. The Edge of Us is a moving, contemplative read that delivers a powerful yet passionate display of emotion, conflict and tangible magnetism.

He ditches the heroine at the alter because and was spiraling. Oh...ok? Why the fuck did he wait 8 years to come back and how was he so in love with her but able to fuck other women during that time? He should have stayed celibate for him to have any redeeming quality in my eyes.

“How many women have you been with since me?"
He turns to stone at my question, then pulls up to look at me. I know what he's thinking, but I'm not asking out of insecurity. I'm asking because I have a decision I want to make.”

“The question you should ask is, how many women stood a chance. The answer is none, Mila. Not one."
"I'm asking because I want to feel you inside of me," I say quite bluntly.
He blinks before recovering.
"You're the only woman I've ever been with skin to skin. You were going to be my wife.”

GROSS. So she was going to be your wife but you left her but were totally ok with being with other women? Fuck that

The Edge of Us by Veronica Larsen is my first novel by this author and an intriguing take on a love triangle that was never meant to be.

"Oh, to live in a desert of resentment. And to be its queen."

Oh, what a tangled web we weave. One woman forced to erase love and start over. Two men. Both fierce in their loyalty to this woman.

"if you really knew Mila, you would know she's not the kind of woman you claim. She's the kind of woman who claims you."

My first impression of this novel was that I would love Mila, the heroine. She was strong and independent, brazen and bold. She had well-defined thoughts and dreams. These were qualities that made me immediately connect to her. Andrew made my heart flutter with excitement. It was like he had awakened from a long sleep, and finally SAW Mila. The intensity with which he cared for her was enough to make me throw my hands up in willing surrender to him. He was the liberator, the one to refocus Mila to the future, and I was their biggest fan.

"Things with you are never easy, Mila. I get that, but I don't care. I don't care if I've got to walk uphill the whole way to make it work. I want you."

Enter Cole. The man I wanted to throttle. The one who made my blood boil. He was introduced as the enigmatic jerk who single-handedly altered Mila's perception of herself and love. But I soon found that I may have been a bit harsh with these thoughts.

"It seems we can't ever get it right, chance and circumstance intent on keeping us apart. Intent on proving what we might feel for each other pales in comparison to situations that hamper our growth. As though all we're ever meant to do is miss each other. A cycle we can't break. A story without an end."

I was consumed by this novel, and needed a claw to extricate me from the grasps in which these characters held me. The Edge of Us had a level of intrigue and temptation that made me salivate, and an escalating pressure that left me immobile, trapped in a cocoon of love, lust, lies, and what-ifs.

"There's no real logic to loving another person. No sane reason in surrendering your heart and mind to what cannot be seen or measured. To allow such a volatile force to reign over you. Love is neither patient nor kind, because love can't be tepid. It's unrelenting, all consuming, and unreasonable."

The foreboding and buzzing energy held me right on the edge of a steep and narrow precipice, daring me to move. The flow of the story was one that caused me to stand still in awe. No beat was missed in the rhythm of this story. Every line was written with well-thought-out purpose and plan, complete with so many "what the heck?", "no way!", and "somebody is going to die!" moments. I begged for clarity, searched for it at every turn of the page, hoping for the anxiety to decrease. But, it was non-stop, present and past colliding, mayhem as each tier of this story was revealed.

"You are…everything I don't deserve. But I still want you…so damn much."

The Edge of Us was an exquisitely written unconventional and unpredictable romance novel. Was it friend-to-lovers or second chance at love? Well, you'll just have to read it to discover this gem for yourself.

"My mind shouts for a reason, my heart whispers a wish."

Mila was literally left at the altar eight years ago and she's never been the same since. Cole and everyone he was in communication with never gave Mila a reason why so she's never had closure. That's all about to change when Cole comes back into Mila's life.

And wouldn't you know its right at a time where she's finally opening up to her best friend, Andrew, and deciding to give them a chance.

The story's ~almost~kind of~ a triangle...it just never quite gets there, thank goodness. But it was hard to pull for one or the other. I went back and forth a bit but ultimately, the one I wanted didn't get picked. :(

description

I loved Mila's strength but I felt she let things slide a little too easily and she was right back to being where she was. I also, for the life of me, couldn't understand why someone anyone wouldn't have informed Mila...eight years was way too much.

"Love is so short, forgetting is so long."

And the drama was over the top...people not minding their own business and then disappearing. What was up with that? I felt like there were a few too many things left unanswered.

But there are more books coming for a couple of the characters so hopefully, we will get more answers and hopefully we will like them!

This was my first book to read by Veronica Larsen and will not be my last—she has found a new fan in me.
The Edge of Us was recommended to me by the author's publicist as I was a HUGE fan of the Black Swan Affair by KL Kreig. The blurb sucked me in and I HAD to read this book.
Thankfully this is not a love triangle as one may think by reading the synopsis. This is a story of heartbreak, forgiveness, and healing but it also touches upon addiction which was something that I didn't expect.
The second chance romance troupe is one of my favorites and reading the journey of these characters made me wish for that second chance to happen. But with the pain that has lasted over the 8 years and the secrets that went into Cole leaving Mila at the alter, is a second chance deserved?
I enjoyed the push/pull between these characters and the chemistry is HOT. But more than that, once Cole is able to put himself out there emotionally to Mila—to open himself to her as she has always wanted—my heart ached for the lost time.
I loved Mila as a character. Being a woman who is at the top of her game, successful, strong—she is someone that other women should aspire to be like. She never backed down when it came to her heart and the people she cared about and I loved watching her show Cole his worth.
I adored the relationship between Andrew and Mila—close friends who relied on each other and knew each other better than anyone else. Their relationship put a smile on my face and I SO WANT more of Andrew's story and I hope we get more (hint hint!)
Overall I enjoyed this book very much. The book world has so many books that release daily and so many books are overlooked but I hope you will give The Edge of Us a try because its touching, captivating and unputdownable.

A raw, emotional, heartbreaking, poignant and tender love story that hit all the right romance notes!!!! Veronica Larsen has officially cemented herself as an author that needs to be on your radar. Wow pretty much sums the feeling I got from reading her latest release, The Edge of Us.

#TheEdgeOfUs

Talk about consuming and all the feels!!! This book nailed it when it captured your attention as a reader when it drowned you with Larsen’s heartfelt prose and imagery. Every word and page in this book grabbed fragments of your hearts and you can’t helped but go along the emotional journey of the key characters in this book. While I can go summarize this book, I won’t because it would ruin the pleasure of getting lost in the story of Mila as she rediscovers herself and her heart. Prepare for one unforgettable, raw, angsty and emotional story as Mila’s life is crashed when the man who broke her world reappears after eight years.

This book will break your heart but trust Larsen to slowly piece back the fragments and make it whole. This book speaks volumes of love, conflict, heartbreak, friendship, hope, forgiveness and the unknown. The writing was flawless and the story flowed at an excellent pace. Truly a book that will put you on the edge of your seat as you await how far along the edge of love, one is willing to go. On the edge, you will see a new horizon and perspective unlike the view when standing in the center. So are you ready to go discover how far the edge you are willing to stand?

The Edge of Us by Veronica Larsen
4 stars!!!

“I never needed you to be perfect. I just needed you to stay.”

Another new to me author and another corker of a read. This book had everything I love in a book, great dialogue, fantastic character connection and buckets of emotion. Veronica Larsen had me in tears in parts and laughing in others all the while delivering a memorable second chance romance.

“Why do you want it to be easier to hate me?”
“Because, Cole, it’s so fucking hard to love you.”

Mila was left stranded on what should have been the happiest day of her life, jilted at the altar, humiliated, devastated and utterly heart broken. Many people were happy, many had predicted they wouldn’t last, but Mila didn’t. The love she had for Cole Van Buren transcended time. Chalk and cheese, opposites attract but what they had was perfect…perfect for them.

“But if you really knew Mila, you would know she’s not the kind of woman you claim. She’s the kind of woman who claims you.”

Eight years on and Mila is now a successful business woman who has thrown herself into her career proving many people wrong. The scars of her past are worn on her sleeve, literally and the man that broke her heart many years ago still has a stronghold…on her heart, in her head and all her emotions. Unable to love, unable to forget, Mila is stuck in the past and when the present gives her an opportunity to move on, the past comes back to haunt her.

“I think I’ll die missing you, might as well die loving you.”

To be honest, I wouldn’t class this as a love triangle, one never really begins before the past comes back. Andrew was a fantastic best friend and despite how close he and Mila are, they could never really be anything else. The relationship that these two had was extremely close and neither really wanted to risk it, deep down.

“…I think meeting you was just what I needed at that exact time in my life. I thought you’d be a one-night stand but…eight years later and we’ve fucked everyone in Manhattan but each other.”

Cole Van Buren was the typical bad boy with his tattoos, and penchant for trouble and yet all was covered up by his rich parents. One thing though that was never in doubt was the love that he had for Mila. Mila made him want to be a better person, Mila completed him and yet he didn’t show for what should have been the happiest day of his life.

“I was just a stupid little girl caught up in a cliché with the tattooed bad boy.”

When the whys come out, I must admit it was all a little anti-climactic and a little hard to swallow seeing as it took him eight years to come back on the scene. While what he has been up to in those eight years is touched upon and I could understand the reasons why it just didn’t sit right. However, artists are known to be broody and I guess it took him a while to work through his issues. For a man that seemingly had it all, his self-confidence is considerably lacking and the faith he has in himself is not great. To see a man that once had everything it was humbling to see the changes.

“We all have an endless capacity for the truth, until the moment we’re lied to and the truth becomes tainted. From there, that endless capacity shrinks down to a single shot.”

I loved the art exhibit and the authors story telling when it came to this part was utterly brilliant. I could picture the journey, I felt all the emotion and the tears were plentiful. Another great second chance romance and this is definitely an author I will be keeping on my radar.

“You know, Cole, you’re not the monster you think you are.”

I really don't know what to say when it comes to this story. I was enjoying the story up until we found out why Cole left for 8 years. I get why he left but that didn't warrant him to leave for so long and I found that reason to be lackluster. I was expecting something drastic. I also thought this would be a love triangle type book but we really didn't get one. It crashed and burned before it ever got off the ground. Even though the book was told in multiple points of view, I really couldn't form a connection with any of the characters. I just felt like something was missing when it came to this book. It wasn't bad but it didn't blow me away either. It was a decent read. This was the first book I read by this author and I'm willing to give her another shot.

Six amazing stars...

Two men vie for Mila Zilenko’s heart.
One broke it.
The other is desperate to repair it.

Veronica Larsen’s THE EDGE OF US is more than a second chance romance. It is more than a love triangle. It is a love story about betrayal, forgiveness, addiction, and loss.

I love the way Ms. Larsen juxtaposed her characters. Mila is beautiful and successful on the outside. Yet, on the inside, she’s vulnerable after being left at the altar eight years ago. Without closure, Mila is unable to move on. Her former fiancé, Cole, is a rich, bad boy artist whose demons prevent him from living the life he desperately wants. And then there is Andrew, the good friend who wants more than anything to have Mila’s heart.

Told in three points of views, Ms. Larsen’s take on a standard love triangle is refreshing and oh soooo good. There wasn’t a time when I didn’t root for both Cole and Andrew. Both were good men who loved her.

The beauty in THE EDGE OF US also lies in Ms. Larsen’s prose. She is an exceptional writer whose scenes are so well written it was like watching a stunning movie unfold. There were times when I had to pause and just reread certain sentences because they were astounding.

“We kiss underneath the letters he never sent me and it’s the saddest kiss I’ve ever experienced. It tastes like tears and feels like heartache.”

I love it when an author takes you to a certain place, a place where you can read a passage and feel like she’s speaking to you… she understands you:

“There’s no real logic to loving another person. No same reason in surrendering your heart and mind to what cannot be seen or measured. To allow such a volatile force to reign over you.”

There are great books out there. And then there are rare amazing books that make you feel so many different emotions … happiness, angst, sadness, and lost. I truly did not know which man Mila should choose. The man who broke her heart or the man who’s desperate to repair it? That’s the brilliance of Ms. Larsen. She keeps you guessing and when Mila makes her decision, you’re truly happy for her.

Bravo, Ms. Larsen for writing one of the best romance books I have ever read!

Mila is a tough-as-nails executive who prides herself on showing little emotions, teetering in heels, and not needing a man. Her life was forced in a new direction when the man of her dreams, her fiance, leaves her with no word on the day of their wedding. She thinks she's overcome the ache from losing him, replacing him with a best friend in Andrew and a career that she gives her all to. What she never planned for was the confusing emotions towards her friend or for her ex to appear right when she thinks she has it all figured out. He comes with answers to questions she thought she had buried, he comes with a past filled with people and memories she hadn't thought of in ages, and he comes with her heart, a piece of her she didn't know he still held onto.

"Oh, to live in a desert of resentment. And to be its queen."

Mila, Andrew, and Cole are the center of this complicated romance. Their emotional love triangle is made up of years of pain, it's made of friendship, and it's made of secrets that will leave readers speechless. Its not typical though, because it is apparent from the start that this love triangle just isn't meant to be. There are two who are meant to be, they have more than just chemistry between them, and the love between them will burn you with how bright it burns.

"I used to think you two balanced each other out, but sometime I wonder if all you do is consume each other and everything that comes between you."

Veronica Larsen makes you fall in love with Mila, the headstrong heroine that finally deserves her own happily ever after, but the journey there is fraught with painful history that's jaded her. Though I could never picture who she was perfectly I wanted, so badly, for her to end up with the good guy, a guy that could give her it all, and a wedding too. But I also found myself wanting the artistic Cole to get his second chance, because his story didn't make me pity him, it made me love him. Mila and Cole, and Andrew too, share a maze of history between them, connected in ways that are hard to imagine. The men share affection for Mila. They lust for her beauty and her brain, and their connections with her are told to readers in such an erotic fashion. It's both touching and sexy, made even better by poetry-like writing. I could feel their agony and their delight, and their euphoria when in the throes of passion.

Then there's the heavy subject matter, more than just two men desiring the same women. Their lives were all altered by horrifying events brought on by drug use and addiction. Veronica Larsen paints a picture that you want to turn away from, it physically hurts to let these events play out in your mind, but it makes The Edge of Us all that it is. Friendships, families, and romantic relationships must overcome the darkness, they require forgiveness, but there are some things that can tear them apart forever. It takes true to talent to take a romantic novel in a different direction, focusing instead on the power something dark has over love rather than the feeling that love can give and the comfort that comes with it. Love isn't a heal all, it isn't an instant happiness or just moments tangled in the sheets, it's a feeling that makes you want to bear it all, even the ugly times. The Edge of Us makes readers see those crippling moments and to feel the suffering the characters face all in the name of love. The characters are incredible, strong, and memorable, because of the wretched events each has experienced with one another and Veronica Larsen conceals all these bits of their stories into a book that makes you believe in love.

"Love is neither patent nor kind, because love can't be tepid. It's unrelenting, all consuming, and unreasonable."

Some art is confusing, some art is just pretty to look at, and some art impacts you in such a profound way that you are never the same. This art makes you think, it inspires words in your mind, it wraps around you and alters your perception of something or maybe of everything. The Edge of Us is that piece of art; a beautiful, second chance romance that's more heavy heartache than stomach butterflies. Veronica Larsen tossed out the cliches and gives readers an unconventional romance that uses the usual tropes in a unique way. The classic love-triangle drama? It's far more than just simple lust and a person torn between two. Drug abuse? It's not just a passed over problem, it's the core of this story. Second chances? They do not come easy and there is no forgetting the past. It's a book with characters that feel real; their personalities, individual characteristics, and emotions come out of the pages like a physical person is standing right in front of you. You'll picture yourself in their shoes and you'll weep alongside them. The situations they face are authentic to the actual world, they aren't just things that happen in the fictional world. And though books are supposed to be this idealized world, this place we escape to, Veronica Larsen has such beautiful prose that you'll fall in love with the flawed characters as they scale the precipice in The Edge of Us.

"A cycle we can't break. A story without an end."

Mila Zelenko lives with the betrayal of the man she loved with all her heart. Her left her standing alone at the altar. Now she is a shell of her former self trying to cope with the painful reality that is her life. All through her predicament, the only constant was Andrew, the friend she needed and deeply cherished.

Sparks fly and Mila realises that there might be a possibility of more that friendship with Andrew. It has been brewing between them for years and she finally feels it. But before she can fully act on it, Cole Van Buren, the bane of her life comes back hashing old wounds.

Torn between her past and her present, Mila needs to decide if she can forgive Cole and accept him back or if it's finally time to move on from the memories that haunt her everyday.

I loved this story because no character is perfect. They are real and you can connect to them in one way or another. You don't have to necessarily gone through what the characters experienced but their pain and their struggle is what every human goes through is some way.

This story wasn't sugar coated. Every character had their flaw that they were struggling with and trying to overcome. They went through different developments that only enhanced the story and made me love it even more.

I am so happy I picked up this book because now I'm a Veronica Larsen fan for life and I'm totally going to binge read all her books. What an amazing, enthralling and real story!! ~Sonal

3.5 stars. This was a pretty good book. This is Mila and Cole's second chance love story. Mila and Cole were in love and engaged eight years ago, but Cole left Mila waiting for him on her wedding day. Since then, Mila has not heard from Cole. She has no idea what happened to him or why he disappeared. She has thrown herself into her business and tried to move on. But she has never really let herself move on emotionally because she had no closure. She has leaned on her best friend Andrew and now he wants more from her. She is open to the idea, but now Cole is back in town. He is now a famous artist and she is his muse for his current project, unknowingly. Mila seeks out Cole in order to get the closure he needs, so she can understand what went wrong for them. There is a lot of emotional turmoil to work through, but they both realize they still love each other. Will Mila and Cole be able to find their way back to each other?

This is a pretty emotional read. Cole has a secret that Mila could not imagine. The reason he left her and stayed gone for eight years is heartbreaking and it hurt them both very badly. They way the worked their way back to each other was very tough to read. I had a hard time trusting that everything was going to work out for them in the future. Their relationship seemed so fragile. Cole was not confidant. He didn't think he ever stood a chance of getting Mila back, or that he was good enough for her, which made me doubt it too. This was a slow burn romance in that the couple does not have any sexy time moments until 78%. The book ends in a way that felt like a beginning, not an end. There is a hopeful-for-the-future note, but it feels like the couple has a long way to go to get stronger together and trust each other and themselves. I just felt like I needed a bit more closure on the story.

This book was a very interesting story with beautiful moments, art and symbolism. I did enjoy the book, even though it was heart-wrenching at time and not an easy read. The writing is very good and I liked Mila and Cole together. I enjoy Ms. Larsen's books and will definitely read more from her in the future!

A cycle we can't break. A story without an end.

An entrancing read by Veronica Larsen.

I was completely captivated by the writing style, the creativity, the plot and the curiosity of how this story of Mila was going to play out. What started as a straight forward woman jilted at the alter a woman unable to move on and still in pain even after eight years turned into a spiders web of unanswered questions, revelations and decisions.

So in love looking forward to marrying the man who was her whole world Mila stood in the church without a groom and now eight years later still has no answers until Cole suddenly returns.

Mila had tried to move on with her life she has a best friend Andrew who she also works with and they met when in anger she went out to purposely have a one night stand with a stranger only she spent the night crying on his shoulder.

Drew and Mila had been friends ever since but recently things have began to shift and they were on the verge of something more.

This is where I thought Oh no this is going to be a love triangle, don't get me wrong I love those, I like the angst and torturous decisions the characters have to make but this wasn't like that at all for any reader who looks at love triangles with dread.

The Edge of us is a captivating story one that takes you on the journey with the characters, deals with healing, broaches on the subject of addiction, pain and unworthiness it's a read that gives you hope for the characters as it progresses and has you sighing happily when it reaches the happily ever after.

An enjoyable read told in dual povs. No heavy drama, angst or cheating The Edge of us is a story you can feel a part of and get engrossed in.

Veronica Larsen has created such an emotionally captivating story. From the first page I was drawn in and from there I became completely hooked.

I simply adored the characters, I loved the fun banter between Andrew and Mila, I found myself in fits of giggles with those two. Things seem to shift when a blast from the past comes back into Mila's life, the heartache and raw emotions are all definitely there and left me an emotional wreck lol.

I truly loved this story and I highly recommend to all contemporary romance lovers or anyone just looking for one of those books that will stay with you long after the last page is turned.

This was my very first Veronica Larsen book and I absolutely LOVED IT! Veronica creates a story based on heartbreak, love, and second chances. You meet Mila who had her heartbroken in the worst kind of way, but through it all, has achieved career wise everything. In the mist of all her heartbreak, Andrew her best friend has been her rock in Every sense, and as the years have passed them by their friendship has only bonded them in a way neither of them is truly aware of, or prepared for.

I loved Mila and Andrews relationship. I found it to be so relatable to the readers.

I LOVED the storyline the angst and the moment Cole came back into the picture. The backstory was angsty, addicting, and overall a unputdownable book. I read in one sitting and was Day dreamy and these characters days later.

I can't wait to devour more by this author.

Title: The Edge Of Us
Author: Veronica Larsen
Series: standalone
Genre: romance
Heat: 3/5
Rating: 4/5

Well, this was a gem I wasn't really expecting. The first of Larsen's work I've come across (and actually the first time I've heard of her, if I'm honest), I was pleasantly surprised by how carefully crafted this story was, and how invested I found myself in these characters' lives.

Larsen has successfully created deep characters and an emotional, intriguing storyline, which deviates from the obvious and is a breath of fresh air in a romance market saturated with the love triangle theme. I found myself rooting for all three players, devastated, concerned and surprised by the unfolding events, but also able to accept the outcome.

Highly recommended, and one of the top releases of 2017 so far.

Loved it. I agree with Jessica, I wouldn't consider this a love triangle. That being said, I loved the hell out of it.

Hmmmm. I don't know that I love this book but I know I didn't hate it.

There were a lot of things that never sat well with me. There were a lot of things that felt very under explained and then some that were over explained.

I didn't like Mila. I didn't care for Andrew or Cole.

I don't know. Something was just ... lacking for me.

THE EDGE OF US is the first book I have read by Veronica Larsen. I was duly impressed with her writing and will be wanting to read more. This story is a love triangle, but not the usual kind. It starts with a slow-burn romance, friends to “almost” lovers, but the story ignites with the return of the ex. It is told from all 3 points of view: Andrew Pearson, Mila Zelenko, and the returning villain ex Cole Van Buren.

Mila is a very successful business woman with her own PR company. But her personal life has been a disaster ever since being left at the alter, by the love of her life, with no explanation or closure. “Love is so short, forgetting is so long.” Her only real savior is her best friend Andrew. He has been there for her through eight long years of heartbreak and tears. It is his shoulder she cries on, and he gives her comfort even with a heartbreak of his own. There has always been a physical attraction, but to cross that line would jeopardize their friendship, and that is their lifeline. One night when the loneliness becomes too much, they cross a line that they have avoided for so long.

Andrew has been attracted to Mila from the day they met. But when Mila broke down in tears, sobbing on his shoulder, he knew she was not ready to move on, and became her friend, support and co-worker at her company she founded The Zelenko Agency, a PR & consulting firm. She had just taken her 1st step with Andrew to being “more” and nominated Female Entrepreneur of the year. It was at the awards ceremony that all was going well, when who shows up, after eight long years of absence, but Cole. Mila doesn't want to see him ever again, but he is the only one with answers and closure.

Mila knows which man she should be with, but her heart was leading her else where. With Andrew she could start fresh and break free of the binds that kept her from seeing what has been right in front of her all this time. Andrew knows she might want to be with him, but she's still in love with Cole. Mila just doesn't see how she and Cole could ever go back, but in spite of that she wishes they could go back.

Love triangle at it's best. Love her writing, too:

“Loneliness hurts, but doesn't kill you.”

“My strength doesn't have to come from suffering. It can come from happiness.”

“I never needed you to be perfect. I just needed you to stay.”

Well, go ahead and read the book, because you'll find out which guy she chooses. “It's so simple and unassuming, you'd never guess it holds a promise of the future we're hovering on the edge of, the edge of us.”

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

Having read Enamored by Veronica Larsen, I thought that I knew what to expect. It wasn't long into The Edge of Us that I realized Mila, Cole, and Andrew's story was filled with heavy emotion and teeming with secrets that have been buried for eight long years. Veronica does a fabulous job of bringing us a heroine at a crucial crossroads in her life and keep readers front row and center through every angry tear, broken hearted sigh, and unsuppressed moan. Throughout the story there are lines crossed, deceit unearthed, and passions that consume!

Mila seems like the women who has it all together when she steps up on stage to accept an award for being such a great entrepreneur but that could not be further from the truth. While her PR business is thriving her personal life leaves so much to be desired. Just when she thinks that she could lay her past with her ex fiance Cole to rest and possibly pursue something other than friendship with Andrew, her past comes back to do so much more than just haunt her. Mila's story was such a rough and touching emotional read for me. Living part of this heroine's earlier experiences with Cole and also feeling every part of her love and friendship for Andrew, my heart was in a constant tug of war right along with Mila's.

Andrew is such a wonderful man, even when he is being territorial and possessive with Mila, I couldn't help but fall hopelessly in love with this head strong hero. Andrew may be slow to open his eyes and heart to how he really feels about Mila but he is such an integral part of Mila's world that he could never cease to exist for her or the reader. He is a hero worth getting to know and developing deep feelings for.

Cole gives this story so much depth, texture, and intriguing colors that I stayed mesmerized by him from the moment we met him on that fateful past New Year's Eve until the present. While I know he shattered Mila's world, Veronica soon shows us readers that Cole's betrayal is so much more than just black and white and deserves closer inspection and understanding. There is something about a troubled, mysterious hero that gets my blood pumping and Cole is a master at it!

Veronica delivers a scorching romance with varying shades of life altering perspective and emotions that a reader can't help but be completely wrapped up in these three character's world. I highly recommend The Edge of Us for a soul gripping, heart pounding, life changing read! Veronica shows her fans and new readers how deep and meaningful and true to real life her stories can be. If I wasn't already a fan of her writing, I would be now. Thanks Veronica for this story with the perfect colorful blend of intrigue, love, desire, and insight!

4 - 4.5 stars

So I actually didn't fully read the blurb so I was surprised when I started reading this. Especially that start that made me think this one will be juicy. Oh this book made me really want that second chance romance to happen. Despite whatever happened 8 years the feelings of unresolved, hurt and anger with a lot of whys. Thank goodness this wasn't a total triangle the melodrama that angst that goes with it. But yes it's not complete gone expect sad and heartbreaking moments.

You know I thought I'd hate Andrew, but I'm happy Mila has him as a good friend and someone she can lean on. Funny how their relationship started yet became closer. On paper they make sense after all that time spend together and being a confidant. That inkling is starting to happen. The ghost of Cole still does linger though.

I liked Mila, a strong character, successful and driven. I can relate to the height thing no heels for me though ;) She knows what she wants and she goes for it all heart. I like that she is also a believer of people's worth and she stands by her beliefs and I find that refreshing.

The push and pull from the three main characters in definitely there. You can feel the chemistry crackling and you know that the emotion is deeply tied. I felt awful for Mila and what she went through. Also the longing between her and Cole, seeing him finally put himself out there and be vulnerable took so much guts. But that is what matter to Mila most to finally get that part of him. Also I was surprised at the serious issue of addiction that was a part of the story. Which also touches on many aspects of it.

This story was a slow simmer and you just wait for it to boil over. A captivating, full of emotion, engrossing, powerful and passionate. It also is a story of acceptance, healing andforgiveness. I really find myself enjoying this author's writing style. I wondered as I read how this would end, I had to know. It makes you think too in some ways. It does tie everything nicely and I was happy with that ending.

The Edge of Us by Veronica Larsen was gripping, emotional and will consume you. The story of three people whose lives are about to collide.

Mila Zalenko never knew why her fiancé left her on her wedding day. Hurt and alone, she decides to have revenge and instead cries in the arm of the man that became her friend and rock in the years to come. Now she is not only successful, but actually finding her footing and content. Now years later, that man, Andrew, and her may be on a precipice of something new, something more.

Cole is the man who left her all those year ago without an explanation. Andrew is the man she decided to have her revenge with, at least in her mind, but ended up becoming her best friend. Both men were likable and good men. Yes, Cole hurt her and left her, but he had his reasons, good or bad. Andrew and Mila have always had a good connection, but is it enough to move forward with?

I really liked Mila. What happened eight years ago left her hurt and lost, but at the core, she is strong, determined and speaks her mind. Andrew has been the one person who has been there for her since that fateful day. They have supported each other but before the ghost of her past reapears something shifts between them. Cole was the man who hurt her, but what does his return mean?

I absolutely love that we got all three points of view. In a story like this, you need it. No one is the villain. It’s the story of three people and where their hearts have led them. I know a love triangle may deter some from reading this book, but this story is so worth the read. Emotional, heartbreaking, but also beautiful, it is the story of finding love again, but for whom is the question.

Veronica Larsen packed a punch right to my heartstrings with The Edge Of Us.

Mila was set to be married to the love of her life. On the day of her wedding she was stood up at the Alter by Cole. Now eight years later the questions that have been plaguing her mind are about to be answered.

The Edge of Us is told in 3 Point Of Views. In the start we have Andrew’s point of view and Mila’s point of view. Mila and Andrew became friends when they found each other in a bar one night, suffering the same heartbreak. Through the years the two have become each others crutch when times were too tough to handle. Cole’s point of view comes around during the middle of the novel. It never fails when the girl is finally moving on the man who crushed her world shows back up again. But Cole had his reason’s for leaving. He didn’t have a choice in the matter.

I loved the fact that even though this novel is full of drama, each character ended up doing right by each other. Mila, Andrew, and Cole all managed to come out stronger at the end.

The Edge Of Us tugged at all of my heartstrings. This novel is full of promise and angst. Being honest, there are a few scenes that feel ‘triangleish’ and during ‘Trianglish’ tropes I have always been on team a or team b. This novel however had me cheering for all the characters.

I wanted them all to have a happily ever after!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
