Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Best cliffhanger in One Piece, set to the tune of a psychotic kids' song. Of course no one's remotely convinced that the Straw Hats - or even Sunny - might actually be gone, but even so, it was a pretty good scene, well got across the power and terror of an Emperor and her crew. This arc's been stretching but it ends well at least.

I hope Pekoms is okay.

(Also, based on some later events, I like to think that Katakuri could've kept going and ultimately killed Luffy... but chose not to because he had a glimpse of the future of just what would happen after that, and decided he's not dealing with that shit today, he's clocking out.)

OMG!! After so long! I always love One Piece. I can't wait for Wano's adventure. Eiichiro is just amazing! What an intense escape!

I also didn't expect what Doogtooth said. It's just amazing how great Luffy's influence is. I have always adored his character and to think he is always saved by all of the people he cherished. Even those that he unexpectedly touched. It's just wonderful.

"Sometimes, running away is the smartest thing you can do.
It’s not about pride; it’s about living to fight another day."

The Katakuri fight is my favorite in the series.
Sanji, as always, is sensitive to everyone suffering.

Shit, that ending. T_T

Ridiculously good installment. I really like Katakuri, definitely making it to the hall of fame of OP's antagonists. Flampe can rot in hell, tho. Kind of wish we'd seen more of Amande, I like her character's design. Sanji, Reiju, Luffy and Chiffon gave me so much feels, especially Reiju in protective big-sister mode (love her so much).

Its the final war between Luffy and Katakuri and its epic and we get the latters backstory and the fight ends as you expect and he does make in time to his crew, also enter Germa 66 and they escape and Big Mom is on an island where they put the cake and feelings from her past come into being which is good and then the next part with the ending was weird. The straw hats escape but can't? Like idk what happened there. An okayish ending not the big fight we were expecting but then again this arc has been all weird and one of the weakest in One Piece, just rushing through it now to get to Reverie next volume.

Cool fight with Kazakuri. I also liked Sanji saving Luffy. The ending was creepy in a cool way with Big Mom singing. 3.5.

I don't love the Luffy/Katakuri fight as much as everyone else but what really makes this volume for me are all the Luffy/Sanji interactions, particularly: "Why is he just listing off all your best qualities?"

Whole Cake Island

Best New World arc so far.
Second best arc overall.
I love Whole Cake Island.
(Despite the absence of God Usopp)
I think it is the most unique arc in the series.
It has tons of memorable moments and a great final fight. Sanjis backstory was devastating and I loved how it was connected to the presence with Luffy.
Luffy is the best in this arc. The existence of this arc alone proves what a great captain Luffy is and what he does in this arc just tops it all off.
But I have to say the real MVPs were Brook and Jinbei.
Big Moms past, her devil fruit and her dreams were all very interesting, although I don’t like her character design at all.
I loved the Mafia and the heist vibes and the great escape was a nice ending.
This arc proved the true power of the emperors of the sea so the next island wont get any easier.

The One Piece is real.

Arcos:
1. Water 7/Ennies Lobby
2. Marineford/Posguerra
3. Dressrosa
4. Jaya/Skypiea
5. Whole Cake Island
6. Arabasta
7. Arlong Park/Loguetown
8. Impel Down
9. Zou
10. Thriller Bark
11. Regreso a Sabaody/Fish-Man Island
12. Punk Hazard
13. Drum Island
14. Archipiélago Sabaody/Amazon Lily
15. Saga del East Blue
16. Pre-Arabasta
17. Long Ring Long Land

2021 reread : Still can't get over how good the Luffy vs Katakuri fight is. It has so many good moments and I'm not one to usually enjoy the fights.
I also love how smart Luffy is shown to be in this volume. The parallel between him and Sanji and how the crew is counting on both of them is amazing.
When allies pop up at the end (Pekon, Germa, the fishmen...) it works really well for me. But I'm not the biggest fan of the cliffhanger ending in this volume! Mostly because I can't grab the next volume right this second (for once).

I have to say : I love the fight between Luffy and Katakuri. They both are so honorable in their own way. They are taking this very seriously (nerds). Luffy learns so much and Katakuri respects him for that. I also love how Luffy keeps being thrown to the ground and every single time he gets back up. Because his nakama believe in him so he has to get back up.
I love how Katakuri's siblings love him. I hate how some of them turn on him when they see his face.
I appreciate the Germa popping up again because they had faded in the background.
And I realize that I may not have said it in previous reviews but : shout out to Pudding. the girl went through a lot in this arc and she deserves a better mother than Big Mom.
Love the cake!

Eiichiro Oda says he doesn't write romance or something in that line. Basically, he doesn't like to bring it in and don't wanna write about any romance. But most stories require some sort of subtle romance plot to move it. This guy, GODA, what he did was, he wrote a very cute little romance story for the sake of the plot and broke the entire community's hearts with this Bad End Musical
THIS LIAR!
He said he don't want to bring in romance coz he knows he will kill us all with heartbreaking stories!
