Constructing a home for his mate may be this big bear builder’s hardest job of all…
Garrett Wilson has finally found his mate. And even if his best friends and coworkers are suspicious of the sudden revelation that it’s their newest client, Garrett trusts the bear inside him to know best. There’s just one small issue…she doesn’t know he’s a bear, and they’re only now meeting for the first time.
Dawn Henderson thought she was ready to pick up stakes and move her life out to the little town of Silver Lake, but she never expected her contractor to be an impossibly tall, handsome and kind man that makes new parts of her wake up inside. The problem is he wants everything, and she’s not sure she’s ready to take that kind of chance.
Whatever it takes, Garrett is going to build Dawn the home of her dreams. And along the way, he’s going to show her the true depths of a bear’s love. But even though their chemistry is earth-shattering, there are secrets out in the woods surrounding Dawn’s new home, and no amount of work may be able to protect their budding dreams.
MY BOOKS WILL NEVER CONTAIN: Cheating, unfaithful heroes, or an ending that is anything but happy.
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. She spends her spare time dreaming of dragons, playing with her pets, and watching sunsets from her home in the mountains alongside her husband (who she suspects would make a great bear shifter). She loves the wild outdoors, her fans, all readers, and getting lost in a great book.

After the death of her grandfather, Dawn Henderson moves to Silver Lake and hires contractor Garrett Wilson. Garrett knew there was something special about Dawn when he talked to her on the phone. Garrett knows she is his mate but he is a bear shifter and while his bear is ready to claim his mate, Dawn needs to come to know Garrett as a man before he reveals what he truly is.
This was different for me because Garrett seemed so gun shy to make his move on Dawn. Good story, slow burn.
Dawn had messed up parents, no family who ever cared about her except for her grandfather. Now that her grandfather has died, Dawn has decided to leave the city and love her grandfather's dream of country life. After such an awful family, Dawn is paranoid and untrusting, she lives her life and job through the intranet. Dawn hired construction people to build her a small home, 3 hunky men. She is drawn to Garrett, can she let him in? Garrett is a bear shifter, own a construction company, has a family of a cougar and wolf shifter. Garrett talk Dawn about building her a small home out in the middle of nowhere. Garrett had a feeling Dawn was his mate from the moment he heard her voice. Will his easy going attitude be enough to get through to Dawn? I like that us humans don't know about shifters in this one and when Dawn found out about Garrett she didn't automatically accept it. Garrett is a great character, super laid back for a shifter, that's a nice change. I think Dawn is a bit to stubborn, there were a few times I would have liked to reach into those pages just smack her! The book is well written with a HEA.
This was a lukewarm shifter romance for me. The main characters, Dawn and Garrett, didn’t stand out but were pretty generic as shifters go. And Dawn was too bland for my tastes. She just didn’t stand out in any way. She worked and had some inheritance but there’s wasn’t anything special about her to make me care about her one way or another. Her back story was weak and didn’t go into enough detail. It was too much telling and not enough showing for me.
Also, their romance didn’t had a lot of chemistry. It seemed too practical and logical. They talked about their romance as if it were a transaction. And they stayed too long on ‘what would happen after’ when it was clear from both sides they wanted to continue the relationship after the house was built. The fact that they dancecd around that throughout the book with no development or evolution was kind of a story killer for me.
The climax was super lame and seemed to be a last minute afterthought. IT didn’t really have much to do with the MC’s, at least not directly.
I finished it because it was short enough for me too but I will most likely not be reading anymore of this series.
Awwww! This book was adorable and mushy and made me smile and roll my eyes. I am going to just start by saying I was all caught up in the feels over Garrett. What a delicious, sensitive, chunk of bear man candy! Of course already knew how this book was going to go down, I mean look at the Title. So punny :)!
I really thought even though this is a shifter romance that it had a contemporary feel. Like the paranormal aspect was just an afterthought and put in to create some adversity to the love story. Though I felt the love story was cute I cant really say it was Epic imo.
Very short enjoyable read. Definitely one to pick up if you just want some light hearted romance.
Dawn and Garrett, what a start to a new series. This book was good, it was more them getting to know each other than drama. That came in the last chapter. Quick set up and even quicker fix. Over all it was a good read, funny, sexy and heartwarming. I am off to start book 2! Reviewed by GypsyBelle * I purchased a copy of this for my personal library*
What has happened to Terry Bolryder? I tried to read her last series and finally returned it. Now I'm trying to read this book and got to 44% before giving up. I've always loved her books but I think I'm done.
Love at Furst Sight is a change of pace shifter romance coming in hot on the heels of the intense Nightmare Dragons series. It’s a much more laid back romance with one bear who knows he’s found his mate but no clue how exactly to tell her the truth. Garrett along with his friends Grayson and Hunter can put up that brand new home in the clearing of the forested land that Dawn owns with little trouble… the trouble comes as to where that land is located, and who believes it belongs to them exclusively.
I will step right up and declare myself a Terry Bolryder fan and devoted reader yet I can understand why this story feels slower… because it is, and that’s okay, really it is. It took a few pages for me to fall into the slower, laid back rhythm of Love at Furst Sight. There is action to come, there are bad guys to be dealt with but are they really that bad when they’re defending what they believe to be theirs… a complex question and situation. I liked Dawn in some ways but not enough, I even understood her reasoning, but I frankly never connected with her so it was up to the shifters in this one to hold my attention… and they did.
Without giving away what could be seen as spoilers, I believe it’s going to be fascinating to see how this situation develops and plays out over the next few books. If I stretch my imagination I could see more than the three friends finding their mates and their happy endings… but time will tell on that, so I’ll leave it to the future. In all I discovered yet another “crew” made up of diverse friendships to fall in love with, an interesting story to start off the series and questions that I cannot wait to find the answers to. If you love Paranormal Romance, Shifter Romance or simply Terry Bolryder Romance (smiles) then you’d enjoy the first of the Built Fur Love series, Love at Furst Sight.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
1.5 stars. I guess the terrible pun, both title and series names, should've clued me in on how this was gonna go but it sounded like such a cute storyline. And I think if the external drama had been cut and this had been a short I probably even would've had nice things to say. The beginning is a little hokey but it was the kind of cute that makes you crinkle your nose so I pressed on despite stilted dialogue and awkward phrasing left and right. And because the story got dragged out the cute factor became obnoxiously cheesy. The world building is poor and the Insta love on the heroine's side felt forced. All in all a pretty awkward read
This is a good start to the Built Fur Love shifter series, but I was surprised that these shifters don't seem to have any connection to the shifters in Terry's other series.
This is a good romance, but Dawn was pretty hard to like at one point. She was too quick to assume that Garrett was crazy when he told her he was a shifter, and ended up hurting him badly. I get that she had never heard of shifters, but to accuse him of lying to her was just mean. She was actually lucky that he came back when she needed his protection. Garrett was a sweetheart, though, and I liked his friends Grayson and Hunter.
I did think that the problem with the wolf pack was a little too easily resolved, but I suspect that was necessary to keep the book fairly short.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Love At Furst Sight is the first book in Terry Bolryder’s new series called Built Fur Love.
Dawn Henderson has pickup her life after her grandfather’s death and moved to the small town of Silver Lake to start again. There she hires BCW construction to build her dream house on a large plot of land left to her by her grandfather.
Garrett Wilson is a bear shifter who has finally found his mate. It’s the new client he’s building a house for. The problem, she doesn’t know about shifters and she doesn’t seem ready to accept their instant connection.
As they work together to complete the house, Garrett works to show Dawn the depths of a bear’s love while Dawn learns to take a chance. But Silver Lake isn’t as quiet as it seems and the shadow are reaching out to claim Dawn’s dreams. Can Dawn learn to accept Garrett and his bear or will the shadows destroy their chance at a happily ever after?
All the books in Terry Bolryder’s series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Will it be Hunter’s story or Grayson’s?
This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy.
Garrett's new project was going to be special. Building a house in a secluded area with only his two friends who were like family made him happy. He was in for more than he could have intended. His client was more. His mate. Now he just had to get her to fall for him and explain about shifters. Bear shifters like him.
I love this couple. She was all in for going out with him and being with him. Plenty of steam in this one. Dawn is excited about her new home. Almost as excited as she is about Garrett. Things are going well until some threats come her way. Who doesn't want her to build her home on her property?
I enjoyed this relationship building. Both reactions to the other were fun, the crew and their teasing closeness was funny. The author always gives us characters we love and bad guys we can hate. Might just have a few surprises for the reader this time. Don't miss her new series. This book one is a winner.
Wonderful first book in a new shifter series. Sweet, hot, and an easy read.
Garrett has come to the middle of nowhere to build a house for the woman he is sure is his mate, even though he has only ever talked to her on the phone. Being a bear shifter and working with his two closest friends, a wolf and a cougar, he has traveled and built houses for some of the richest people around, but none of those houses mean as much as this one. With this one he hopes to impress and win his mate. Then he plans to move into it with her and raise a family. Now he just has to convince a human woman that it is possibke to fall in love at first sight, explain to her about shifters, and convince her to be his forever. Easy, right?
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
It you like Shifter romance but not the "pack", this has a formed family dynamics and sweet soulmate romance.
Garrett has stood u his own construction company with his two best friends that are more like his brothers. He has a client he drawn to over the phone, he can't wait to meet her in person. His two brothers are teasing her mercly until the first meeting when two brothers stood up and took notice. Dawn an independent and feisty woman doing her best to protect herself from betrayal and attachment. Dynamics of a local pack store up issue with construction. Garrett too cute for words and Dawn full of surprises. Violience 1, "sex2 More reviews or opinions please check out my blog my2centsbookreviews.com thanks
Not the best book from this author just a little bit boring, it's more about the romance side with very little action. A construction company that is run by three male shifters a bear a wolf and a cougar are hired to build a home in the middle of nowhere for Dawn a beautiful human woman. Garrett who is a bear shifter recognised her as his mate and sets out to win her and find a way to explain what he is. An issue arises with a local wolf shifter pack who are in difficulty and is solved after a confrontation in which the three show themselves in their true forms and hence Dawn discovers the truth but knows her love for Garrett is enough and they become mates. It's an okay read but nothing special.
A very enjoyable start to a new series! I really enjoy this construction crew! They may be a bit mis-matched, but they make a very loving family group - even grouchy Grayson! Garrett is all man (well, and bear); a very decisive, take-charge kind of guy, strong, smart, slow to anger, with a kind heart, and an abiding love for his newly-found mate. Just the type I’d like to know! 😉 Dawn is a very independent woman; used to taking care of herself. Her family has been unreliable (except for her beloved grandpa). She does have a temper, and it does get her into some trouble! This is a very satisfying, enjoyable story! I recommend it.
I love reading Terry Bolryder shifter stories. This one is different, because the family is not by blood, but by decision. Garrett is a bear shifter. His friends/coworkers/family are a cougar shifter and a wolf shifter. He is building a house for the woman who turns out to be his mate.
This story has a fast pace, a hopeful tone, a character oriented storyline with some steamy scenes and a little action, and vivid characters. If this sounds good to you, then sit back and prepare to enjoy! Then you will be getting book 2, like I am going to!
I enjoyed this book. I’m learning the authors signature style so even though it’s a brand new series, I felt like I was rereading an old favorite. I can’t wait to dive right into the next book! Thank you for keeping your awesome touch of drawing your readers right into the story. Always a cover to cover read, take out all the way. Hubby says he’s used to me trying to walk around with my nose buried in a book but can always tell which author it is by how much I order from takeout, then he always asks how many books in the series...lol...hope everyone enjoys this new series as much as I am!
Dawn was willed property from her grandfather who raised her most of her life. After his passing she wanted to build a dream home on the property. She calls BCW to build it. When she meets gorgeous Garrett and his two co workers Grayson and Hunter they are a sight to see. Garrett knows that dawn is his mate the first time she talked with him on the phone. Only problem is he is a shifter and she's a human. When her property is being messed with Garrett and his friends find out who is doing this and too keep his mate Dawn safe. Could dawn be his mate? Or think he's Looney and push him away. Great read.
Dawn was taken in by her grandfather when her parents abandoned her. When he died the family took everything except a piece of forest property he had purchased a nd planned to retire on. She hired Garrett and his crew to build her house on this property, not knowing they were shifters. They are drawn to each other. Garrett knows she is his mate, but does not know how to let her know about him. Meanwhile, she and her property are threatened by wolf shifters who claim it is part of their ancestral pack lands. The story I s about how this is resolved and Dawn finds out about Garrett. Looking forward to the other two friend's stories.
After a lifetime of disappointing people can she trust
After a lifetime of disappointing people can she trust what is right there in front of her as real and lasting. Dawn has had a life where trusting in anyone other than her grampa has been a disappointment. Now she is truly alone and bravely stepping out to make a new life for herself. When she meets Garret while having him build her new home she is shocked at the connection she feels towards him. Garrett is a bear shifter who knows he has found his mate in Dawn but now he has to prove his worth as a man before he can tell her of his bear. Great read
3.5 Stars - Garrett and Dawn's story is book one in the Built Fur Love series. This one was a little slow for me. I think it was because I am used to the male characters of this author's previous series being stronger in character. Dawn was fine....Garrett needed to be more assertive, he is a strong hot bear shifter. He eventually got to be where he needed to be, but it took too long for me. He and his other two construction crew mates set out to build a home for a woman he has only spoken to over the phone. He suspects she could be his mate. His crew mates are a wolf and cougar shifter.
Terry Bolryder writes wonderful paranormal stories and this one is no different. We first meet the men of BCW Builders in this story. B stands for Garrett (bear), C for Hunter (cougar) and W for Grayson (wolf). The three have become close friends and travel all over building for a living. They have been hired by a human to build her house in the middle of nowhere. When the men arrive the fibe they get off the area is not the best. Will Garrett be able to figure out why things are happening on the site ? Will Dawn accept why she is drawn to Garrett? Come read the first book in the series.
Love at furst sight by Terry Bolryder is a 4 star read. The s is the first book in the Built for Love series. Garrett owns his own business building people their dream homes, when talking on the phone to Dawn about the house she wants built in the middle of nowhere, Garrett is sure she’s his mate. As he starts building he realises that his mate might be in danger and his inner bear doesn’t like that. I did enjoy this book but it didn’t grab my full attention the way the authors other books have. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
An enjoyable start to an new series, I've always enjoyed Terry Bolryder 's bears. This opening story in the series is Garrett and Dawn's story. Garrett is a construction worker employed by Dawn to build her dream home on land left to her by her recently deceased Grandfather. It is a romance story with a bit of a twist and a great opener to a new series. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it was just what I needed on a rather miserable week!
Another great story by Terry, I really enjoyed Garrett and Dawns story. Dawn is so brave moving out there in the woods all by herself and hiring 3 gorgeous men to build your house how can you go wrong. But little did she know she had rogue wolves living in her woods, well I guess it’s a good thing she fell in love with a big bear that is more than willing to protect her. I can’t wait for Grayson and Hunters stories as well!! BCW what a great name for a construction company ❤️
This story was a little slow at first but I enjoyed it. Garret and Dawn have a new beginning that spoke of love and commitment along with what constitutes as a family. Blood /biological matter doesn't make a family and once Dawn realized Garret and his two best friends where truly there for her she realized she had all the family she needed. I can't wait to read Grayson and Hunter's story. Please let them all stay close especially since they're a three man construction team. Hot and hubba hubba.
As always Ms Bolryder has written a fantastic story. She never fails to write what will give her readers the utmost satisfaction. Definitely a book that will bring much more great reading with the next book in the series. Ms Bolryder's books are a needed addition to your library. They are meant to be read over and over and over. You'll be missing a great author if you don't read her books. She writes about different shifters and never missed a beat about involving them in real life situations, which she does very well.
This is a cute little story about a building contractor named Garrett and his client named Dawn. There isn't a lot of excitement and adventure like this author's usual books. But more of a sweet romance type with a side of paranormal. Dawn is trying to get a house built on her deceased grandfather's property. Garrett knows that she is his mate but doesn't know how to tell her that he is a bear shifter. There is also the fact that a group of wolf shifters live near. If you want to read something that is less excitement filled then this book is for you.
