From the multi-award-winning author Christopher Artinian, comes the fourth book of the post-apocalyptic zombie series people are calling, "Gripping", "fast paced and full of action", "very realistic", "captivating", "inventive", and "emotional".
They thought their biggest battle had been fought—but the war had not even begun. Months after the defeat of a vicious army that threatened their very existence, a new enemy has come to town.
For Mike and his family, it’s a race against time. With death lurking around every corner, their only hope is to enter a zombie infested city to find the one thing that might save them. They have fought for all they have, but is this one battle too many?
Can they fight their fate one more time? Can they bring back hope for their people? Can they halt the fall of Safe Haven? This will be their longest day; will it be their last?
I was born and raised in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Wanting to escape life in a big city and concentrate more on working to live than living to work, I moved to the Outer Hebrides in the north-west of Scotland in 2004 and I have lived there ever since with my wife and dog.
I write post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, dystopian and horror fiction. I’ve released forty eight books across six different series - Safe Haven, The End of Everything, Unsafe, Relentless, The Burning Tree and Scares in Scotland.
In addition, most of my titles are now available as audiobooks narrated by Kim Bretton, so if you’re one of the many people who struggle to find the time to read, you can listen on the go.

What an intense high-octane ending. All throughout Ice I was clinging to my arm rests for what was one of the most intense zombie vs human battles of the series so far. Sad losses as the group finds they have to fight even harder and take more risks just to survive to see another day.
Everyone has to fight, and sadly, the ones who are mentally (hopeless) depleted, and/or in poor health are being weeded out more and more frequently as the fight continues to intensify the savagery with each RAM (aka zombie) confrontation.
Also, sending many, many thanks to narrator Kim Bretton for bringing the series to life through each character's unique voice. Great job.
Can't even begin to imagine what follows in book number five...
Wow, this is the 4th book in the safe haven series and all I wanted to do was binge the whole thing. This author is good at messing with your emotions. Whatever you don't get attached to characters in a zombie book. That is what I have been telling myself since I started reading them. No such luck- This book kept me on the edge of my seat almost the whole time. This is one of those books where you want to scream, smack the characters and throw the book. One of those that you can do all of that and say when it's over "Wow, that book was amazing" Look forward to getting to the 5th book next month.
Each book of this series makes you realize what a gifted author Artinian is. This is another emotionally charged, character driven story of the fight for survival against hordes of RAMS. The main group that we have come to love just can't seem to catch a break, if it's not the RAMS trying to eat them, it's a flu which is now another enemy. This is the fourth book in the series and each book out does the one before. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves the zombie/horror genre, you will not be disappointed
3 1/2 stars. A 'nice' comfortable if not terribly hokey ending (?) to the "Safe Haven" books! Great reading for avid zombie fans, probably not a great starter for those wishing to give the genre a first stab (literally or figuratively).
**MILD SPOILERS** OK, I always seem to say this after I go and read an entire series without pause, but I think this last book just kind of petered out in terms of my interest in this reality and especially the "Safe Haven" crowd. Even though it was really interesting to see BOTH Artinian's writing improve DRAMATICALLY over the course of these 4 books and to follow along with characters we came to know and love (or detest), this last chapter just proved to be a little much of the same old same old thing with WAY TOO MUCH 'Mike Is Jayzus' hero worship.
Again, there are lots of hugs and kisses and tears and admiration for just about everyone, but this time, it just got to be a bit much. I mean, if our biggest enemies BESIDES THE RAMs are just going to be sickness and the weather, well, I prefer the way Alice Sabo handled it in her 'Lethal Seasons' books. Not as sugary sweet but still with the sense of urgency. There are no real surprises, no real break-throughs even if the entire book is just one well-documented action sequence that, yes, I was more than glad to read in 2 rather short sittings.
In conclusion: is this an exciting, edge of your seat zombie tale? Oh yes, absolutely. Are there unique bits and bobs that you've not seen in a zombie tale before? Ehhhh, not so much, though I have to admit I enjoyed the one scene with the harvester saving the day (snowplows unsurprisingly have been used to kill the undead in other books!). Would I read another Artinian book? Without hesitation.
Yes, all this means that I am stubbornly disagreeing with a large portion of the reviews here. Heck, it wasn't even close to being my favourite of the series (oh, I need to add thank the gods they cleaned up the editing here... not perfect but so much better than the last book). Still, I recommend you take it for what it is and enjoy it on the kind of expectation level I did! Fun, fast and worth every penny, especially if you get this at the discount KU price!
This series is the one that started my present love of the Zompoc genre. Christopher Artinian is an excellent author and his books are some of the best that I have read. You know that when you start to read one of his books, you are in for a thrill ride of no comparison.
Book 4 picks up shortly after the end of Book 3, with our intrepid hero, Mike, and his family living as a community in Safe Haven. However, just when you think that things have settled down and gotten back to normal, you find out that (of course) that is not true. Mike and Emma's younger sister, Sammy, is fighting a losing battle with an especially nasty flu. Mike's lover, Lucy, who is also a physician, tells Mike that chances are not good for Sammy if she does not get lifesaving antibiotics. So, Mike makes the decision to go in search of the drugs she needs.
Along the way to find proper medication, the worst blizzard in Scotland's history hits and Mike and Emma are caught in the middle of it. With the roads impassable and the RAMs attacking in spite of the frigid temperatures, it is unclear if they will be able to find the meds and return to Safe Haven in time to save Sammy.
This book is full of action, with our hero killing the RAMs at every turn. As Alex told Mike, "Blood makes you relatives; love makes you family." Mike is determined to save his family at all costs and nothing will stop him. This book also meshes Mr. Artinian's two series together when Mike is saved by Wren from the End of Everything series.
After reading the books in this series, I have come to feel like I know the characters and find myself reading faster and faster in order to reach the conclusion. At the same time, I try to slow down in order to savor every detail. I enjoyed the comic relief provided by the two librarians, David and Richard. What great fun it was listening to them bicker and moan while under zombie attack!
The narrator, Kim Bretton, does a wonderful job and really adds a lot to this series. She brings the characters to life and moves the story along at the perfect pace. I can't say enough about the combination of the author and the narrator; it is truly a work of art.
I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version of this book by the author and chose to review it.
Safe Haven- Ice: Book 4 of the Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Horror Series by Christopher Artinian and narrated by Kim Bretton is yet another hit for this series. If you haven’t listened to Christopher’s zombie worlds, you are missing out!
The gang is back and trying to survive a sickness that has hit Safe Haven. With Mike’s younger siblings ill, he sets out to find antibiotics. From there, the chaos begins and the question is will the group and Safe Haven survive this time around? There’s a good amount of z action packed throughout. Yes, Mike does some bone head moves, but for all the right reasons.
The narrator, Kim Bretton, did a brilliant job once again. She gives Christopher’s worlds life and makes me want to listen even if I should be going to bed.
Overall I highly recommend, especially if you’ve been following this series or if you are new (make sure to start at the beginning). If you’re a z fan, you won’t be disappointed.
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: it’s the zompoc folks- death, weapons, and like situations occur. One suicide. Language used: Sx31, Fx46.
*I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you for allowing me to listen and review the book!
Wow! this for me was Christopher Artinian’s best book yet. It left me with no nails and palpitations. It truly was edge of the seat reading. The book is action packed from start to finish and you live in fear for everyone of the characters. Chris has such a way of writing that you feel connected to each character in some way, shape or form and was really happy to be introduced to a new one in this book which I’m sure will become a firm favourite of many. You really won’t be left disappointed and this series is one of the most believable zompoc books out there. Fantastic book from one of my favourite authors and can’t wait to see what the future holds for safe haven. Keep up the good work.
Loved this book had already read the previous books in this series. This book did not disappoint me. I flew through this and hoping the next books release date is. I was kinda hoping our furry friends from book 1 made an appearance. I have no fear of any kind of furry animal. But the way Christopher Artinian describes them actually made my skin crawl lol I could go on and on about book 1 as I've just finished reading it again and Amazon dosent allow you to give a Review twice. 🙄🙄 Any way enough of my love affair with book 1. As for ICE. Winter is here. Grap that book wrap no double wrap yourself in your blanket and get comfortable. "For the ice is cold. And full of Terrors"!. 😱🧐😁😁😁😁

So I was fortunate enough to stumble across this treasure trove after a recommendation I found on a FB page. This initially peaked my interest but to then witness Christopher engage with his readers sealed the deal, so in a went...
....after 5 minutes I knew this series had me; the characters, the pace and the energy had me hooked. If you’re a fan of the genre (and even if you’re not), this is a must, a go to, a rollercoaster of a ride that you will not regret.
I’ve steamed through the 4 Safe Haven books in 7 days, and eagerly started on The End of Everything at the earliest opportunity. This too, I know, will be an absolute winner.
Get involved people, you’ll be like a RAM searching for the next jugular!!
Christopher Artinian's tale of a post apocalyptic world populated by zombies and savage raiders continues to amaze and enthrall me. In this book, the people of Safe Haven have to deal with the ancient enemy of disease also. The heart of this story is one of courage and survival and what one man and his family are willing to do to survive, and also help others to survive. I recommend this series for its intensity and entertainment. Kim Bretton's narration is superb and she keeps listeners interested with her performance. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
Book 4 Just when I thought this series could not get any better, Wren shows up to save the day!Wren is from the series The End of Everything! I am enjoying the writing style of this author. Each book continues on in a fast paced storyline and non stop action ride but also finishes the storyline in that book. This series just keeps getting better with each book. I can’t wait to see what is next for our favorite characters. Thank you to this author for using Kindle Unlimited
The saga continues with another well written adventure for Mike and his family. From the first word until the last, Mr. Artinian kept my attention with this action packed story. I can't say enough positive things about this book. It was intense and the characters are wonderful. I highly recommend this book and this series. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.
As I continue to follow the saga of the Safe Haven family I fall more in love with the plot and characters. The writing leaves you holding your breath for the next chapter. The end of the book makes you want for in touch with Christopher Artinian and rush him for the next book. Christopher if you read this it is more than a hint, I can hardly wait to see what happens next!
Loved this! Completely new twist. Like before it had me guessing right through. Although I read it through kindle because I could not wait for the book. I'm still going to order a signed copy tho for my collection. Love this author. Although fiction. I wud say after reading this series. I'm pretty educated as to what to do in a zombie apocalypse thanks to the great detail in these books. I can not wait for the next book. Hope its very soon. :-)
This latest instalment was as thrilling as the others so I'm quite sad to have had to remove 1 star. This was because the proof reading was sloppy on this one and it spoils the experience for me. Sorry but nobody peaks round a corner (This one happened twice) and neither Lucy nor anyone else heeled anyone's injuries. Other than that I really hope this won't be the end of safe haven and am now off to try the stories about Lucy and Alex.
least favorite of the series, but you should still read it
I loved this series. I loved the main characters, but this book seems a bit forced. I'm glad it was. I enjoy this story, but Mikeys behavior is a bit outlandish and not smart. One attribute I appreciate about these novels were Mikeys ability to make easy but smart decisions. He is an idiot in this book. But still read it. If there is more I sure will. Also excited to read about Wrens path. Thanks again Chris!
Spoiler? This was such a good ending to this series. The last book was lacking but its been redeemed here. I didn't think they would find the medicine or make it through the storm. Mike running into Wren was the luck they needed. I can't wait to see what's next in the new series. I didn't read the coming attraction since I like to be surprised. I enjoyed reading this story.
Way to go, with more breathless anticipation on the next journey for Mike and his family.A sudden catastrophic snowstorm hits the survivors and lives could be lost in the harrowing journey for something Mike desperately needs to find, at all costs. What a book.Awesome Christopher Artinian once again.
Another great chapter in the Safe Haven series. This story was exciting, terrifying, and heartrending. The group faces challenges both old and new when a terrible illness strikes the community. Mike is forced to take desperate measures when a serious illness brings down many in town including his little sister and brother. This tale will keep you up late.
The will to fight and survive is by far more prevalent in this story as a new for, mother nature, takes the residents of Save Haven by storm! Old characters evolve, New characters come into play, and family once again takes center stage! Wonderfully told story and a definite must read!!!
Another great book by Christopher Artinian! This is a fantastic series full of non stop action, suspense and true fear for the characters. Has Mike finally found a challenge beyond his capabilities? You'll have to read this series to find out. I highly recommend this book and everything else written by this author. Enjoy!!
Safe haven fans prepare yourself for this exciting new chapter When the flu threatens the Survivors Mike braves a winter storm in search of medicine Excellent narration from Kim as always One of my favourite series I can’t recommend this and the end of everything series enough I received a free review audiobook and voluntarily left this review
"Oh, I've got a brand new combine harvester...." And you know where thats going, as Hugh's charged to the rescue, and I'm still chuckling now, absolute genius! I was so excited when Wren turned up, but left me with questions about the timeline between the two series. And how much more can Mike and his family take I can't wait for book 5, I'm desperate to find out more!"
Our safe town has been hit by a flu.. no big deal right? Wrong with no meds to help this flu is fatal. Time to go back to a zombie infested city in the middle of a snowstorm. Mike shows his fierce loyalty to his family at all costs. Characters continue to develop as do the zombies. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Mike will do anything for his family, even fight hordes of RAMS alone to get what they need. His extended family will always be there to help. The camaraderie between them all is great and will gave you laughing and crying, now I'm ordering the next book in the series
This series consumes you. Its a non stop roller-coaster of never ending twists and turns that give you whiplash! This writer turns you into Oliver Twist please sir can I have some more? You can't turn the pages quick enough and it's impossible to try and drag it out. More new awesome Characters with hell breaking loose everywhere.
Well what can i say a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end, another brilliant story in the safe haven series, if you love zombies you will love this series of books
I have read all of these now and this may be the best. Another great story from Christopher Artinian. Great storyline and character development. If you like zombies, then this story is for you!
