Bad Boys Redemption #3

Bottom of the Ninth

Rate this book
Meet bad boy catcher, A. J. Gonzalez...

When I stood Mia up eight years ago, I never dreamed I’d run into her again. But here she is, making me look like a fool in front of thousands of fans.

The sweet, innocent girl never knew why I left. But I had my reason. A good one. In no way was I worthy enough for Mia Gunner. Today, grown up and hotter than ever, she’s still too good for me. But when she walks by, wearing those skin-tight leggings, that doesn't stop me from wanting that taste I denied myself. And I get it.

Almost.

It turns out; Mia isn’t through plotting her sweet revenge. Now, left in a not so compromising position, Mia won’t have anything to do with me.

That is until we find ourselves in another awkward situation. When I think life can’t get more complicated, Mia packs a few more surprises. And believe me, she may not be as timid as I once thought.

I can’t help wanting her, but I need to stay away. Especially with our paths taking different courses. But I’ve never been one to back away from a challenge. It’s the bottom of the ninth. Time to score. I’ll either step to the plate or strike out. No matter what happens, this will definitely be a December I’ll never forget.

Bottom of the Ninth is book three in this new standalone sports romance series. If you like sexy alpha baseball players, click to meet AJ in this hot new second chance romance.

I am writing this review while recovering from a book hangover! I stayed up all night reading and finished the story just before time to go to work-This story was just that good! Funny thing is that I read a Kimberly Readnour book and I think, “this one is my favorite!” Well, just like the book before it, I now feel like this story is my favorite!

If you’ve read any of the other books in the Bad Boys Of Redemption series, you know that A.J. Gonzalez is the incredibly sexy playboy catcher of the PHILADELPHIA Phillies. After coming off their second World Series win, the team is working a charity photo shoot to raise money for the children’s hospital. While posing for a fundraiser calendar, we are introduced to the one woman to ever draw AJ in: Mia. From chapter one the chemistry between AJ and Mia is like a chemical explosion. After 8-years apart, coincidence after coincidence keeps throwing them together; forcing them to communicate what they couldn’t communicate in the past.

This story just continues to explode as they continue to explore the opportunities their causal relationship produces. You as a reader spend page after page going through the emotional hurdles and obstacles AJ and Mia face. By the end of the story Kimberly Readnour ties the story up and hands it to you, the reader, like a present at Christmas. You feel excitement, content and spent, just like a kid on Christmas morning. To say that I recommend this book is an understatement. Not only do I recommend this story, but I’m confident when you are finished, it will have you enticed to explore more of Kimberly Readnour’s works.

This was a second chance romance, if you want to call it that. I would more call it a "I ran into you again, oh yeah, always loved you ha ha" romance. I just can't stand second chance romances where the hero seems to be living perfectly fine for years, and then sees the heroine again and suddenly remembers he loves her.

description

Also, in one scene he is disappointed about having to walk away from a hot girl he occasionally hooks up with. He does it for the heroine, because he just saw her, and was going to try to f*ck her out of his system. He didn't because his d*ck won't even twitch for anyone else now, so sad :( but he still found it within himself to wax poetic on how great the girl was before he let her go, why would I want to read this?

Despite my body's disinterst, I don't burn my bridge...Bonnie's ice-cold tone reminds me of why I always liked her. She's a no-nonsense type of girl.

Then when he decides not to sleep with her...

I know walking away is the right thing to do, but it sure feels like crap

Oh I am so sorry the poor guy can't go have the hot sex he is used to having, because he happened to run into the girl he loves and had just forgotten all about for 8 years, REALLY? That is just not romantic to me. Also the heroine was just so annoying with the body betrays her BS. This also had a dose of he hurt her in the past for her own good. All in all I didn't really care for this one.

I couldn’t wait for AJ’s story. I’ve adored him from the beginning! And now I think I adore him even more!! AJ and Mia are just everything! From the very beginning of their story I needed and wanted more. I had to find out what was going to happen. And I always love getting to see the past and the present happening and why these characters are where they are at now. And it makes me fall more in love with them. I’m so sad to be done because I don’t want to let AJ and Mia go, not to mention the rest of the crew entering into the story at times!! I just, omg!! I loved Mia and AJ!!

Review by Lisa Kane

Nice second chance at love read! AJ Gonzalez is the catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He's agreed to pose for a beefcake calendar for charity. His costume as Mr. December-a half naked lumberjack elf. He's humiliated, but even more so when he sees the photographer is Mia Gunner. The girl he dumped eight years ago in college.

Of all the stupid things I've done-and believe me, there have been a lot-my treatment toward her has been my biggest regret.

Mia has the advantage, she knew she would be working with him. But seeing him again, his body even more gorgeous than the last time she saw him-well she's not exactly immune to him.

Lost to the memory, I find it hard to remember the reason why I hate this man. Because he humiliated and broke me.

AJ may have had his reasons for ghosting on Mia years ago, reasons that at the time made sense, but he's never quite been able to get her out of his head. Finding out that Drake Gunner, the new guy on the team gunning for his job, is her brother is just another weird coincidence.

Mia is older, more mature but still scarred from AJ. The years since she's seen him were filled with unspeakable loss and tragedy. AJ wants a chance to see her, nothing's really changed, she's still off limits but he can't help himself.

If there's one thing that AJ is, it's persistent. Eventually, circumstances put the two of them together and AJ has a chance to really talk with Mia.

"No boyfriends?" How about you? Any girlfriends?" I counter. He doesn't need to know about my relationships, nor do I need to know his. I personally don't care about the number of partners he's gone through-one-time hook-ups are just that, but something raunchy stirs inside my stomach at the prospect of him having a long-term girlfriend. And that makes zero sense.

As if things aren't complicated enough, AJ's sister Cara and Mia's brother Drake, may be hooking up. Drake is a total douche-this guy is too cocky, too sure of himself and has no regard for anyone else's feelings. (if he gets a book, I'm gonna pass)

Mia is fighting her feelings-she has her own reasons for why she agreed to photograph the team for charity.

Helping St. Claire Children's Research Hospital is the reason I endured seeing AJ after strategically avoiding him ever since Drake signed with his team.

But the heart wants what the heart wants-even if once again this couple's timing is off.

"The timing sucks." "It always has," I mumble and swallow down the pain lodged in my throat.

It's time for AJ to man up-if he's going play to win or will he walk away a loser?

As she wraps her arms back around and peers up with those sapphire rich eyes, I know it's the bottom of the ninth, and I just hit a home run.

This is book three in the Bad Boy Redemption series and I could not wait for fo Aj’s book. From the moment I read the first book, I fell in love with this series. This is a great, sports, second chance romance with an amazingly awesome bad boy. This story was so much fun and told in dual point of view.

These two have a history. They knew each other from college days. She was a new freshman and he was a senior that could have any girl he wanted and he kind of did. They had a great first part-time together and Aj asks her out for a real date. When she shows and sometime later he doesn’t show she calls her friend. He is there drinking and hanging out with other girls. Wait!! Hold the phone AJ says he doesn’t drink during the season. So now she thinks everything is a lie. She tries to call him and she can’t get through. What’s that? He blocked her that’s what. My heart hurt for her a little. I anticipated something happened but not what did.

Then you have Aj who is the bad boy catcher. He is so alpha and possessive. They know each other so when the sparks are reignited....DARN. It was the same when they first met they still have that spark that never went away. Aj regrets what happened and he wants to make amends and show he has changed. When they reconnect she is shooting a hunky beefcake calendar and he has to be December and she dresses him up as an elf. He wanted to trade so bad. He looks like and idiot. His words, not mine. Revenge from Mia has never been so sweet. Now, through this all this he plays on the same team as Mia’s younger brother, who is an up and coming catcher.

I loved the chemistry between these two. I like their tentative friendship if you can call it that in the beginning. I loved watching them grow. They were fun to read. They had a great story and I was enthralled the entire time and couldn't wait to see if they would get back together. What she would make him do if anything. I loved the cast of people they were great as well. I loved how they could get through anything and showed they were meant for one another. The plot twist was great and I did not expect it.

I look forward to more from this author and series.

As a rule I don't care much for books written in first person. That being said this book was a very good romance in spite of my pet peeve.
It is written in first person which usually annoys me, but the story and plot were good enough that I got past that in this case.

Bad boy catcher, A. J. Gonzalez stood Mia up back in college. Now he comes face to face with her again eight years later.

He has volunteered to pose for a beef cake calendar and Mia is the photographer and all A.J. can think of is how hot she is now, but she is still too good for him.

She has silently been plotting her revenge on the popular major leaguer for a long time. Now she puts him in the most humiliating costume she can think of for the calendar shoot, but although he thinks life can’t get more complicated, Mia packs in  a few more surprises.

Believe me when I say, she may not be as timid or sweet as A.J. once thought.

Will Mia give A.J. a second chance?

This delightfully sexy second chance romance is good enough to get me past the first person thing.

I gave it 4.25 of 5.0 stars for storyline, plot and characterization.

It is incredibly sexy and get s s sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher to read. This in no way affected my opinion which was given freely and on a volunteer basis.

Bottom Of The Ninth is finally here. It seems like I have waited years. While I have loved both Jax ( Swing For The Fences ), and Zach's ( Second Chance Hero) stories, Bottom Of The Ninth officially owns my heart. Bottom Of The Ninth is the third book in the Bad Boys Redemption Series and is an interconnected standalone. Mia and Aj's story is told in dual POV,, and I absolutely adored being able to live in each of their heads, and getting to see their thought process. Even though this book is centered around baseball, I feel like it was easy to forget that it was indeed about an actual baseball player because Aj and Mia's story had actual depth. It went way deeper than a professional baseball player vying for a woman's attention. Bottom Of The Ninth hit topics, that I did not expect. It definitely pulled at my heartstrings multiple times, but still had this amazing banter that went back and fourth that did way more than hold my attention. In my honest opinion I also feel like this book was about self discovery. It was amazing to watch ( I say watch, because Bottom Of The Ninth was like watching a movie in my mind) Mia and Aj find themselves in a way that not even they was expecting.

Aj Gonzales is a two time World Series Catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is not only a professional baseball player with amazing chocolate eyes, but is super smart too. Having a past that seems to drag along with him, he is set in his ways when it comes to women. Pretty much one and done, never settling down, which he is content with because he has his career to worry about as well as his sister. He's the heart throb hottie that has a huge soft spot for his baby sister and his mom.

Mia Gunner is the blonde hair, blue eyed beauty that finds joy in the littlest things, like a paint brush and canvas. Having been through so many things in her life, she has a backbone the size of Texas. She is not the shy girl, everyone always thought she was, she is the woman that will crush you if you come her her. Having her dreams laid out in front of her, nothing will step in the way.

Bottom Of The Ninth is told in the past and present, but is tastefully done. Each with just the right of information, and leaving you wanting more. Kimberly has an amazing writing style, that will hold your attention until the story is over. I am so grateful that I gave this author a chance when I read the first book in this series. Ii can not wait to see what else she comes out with.

Terrific romance - I loved AJ and Mia!

AJ and Mia had a very brief "thing" eight years ago, until an incident reminded AJ that Mia would be better off without him. Flash forward to the present, and Mia's brother, Drake, is on the same pro-ball team with AJ so it's inevitable that their paths cross again.

Mia suffered so much loss during the year before and after AJ, and his poor treatment of her was just too much for her to handle with any perspective. AJ had no idea what else was going on in her life; he just knew that he wasn't good enough for her so he did what he thought was the right thing to do.

Now that they're in each other's orbits again, their undeniable chemistry brings all the old feelings - good and bad - to the surface where they must be dealt with. Their love story was an emotional roller coaster, and since we get alternating POVs we can easily sympathize with both Mia and AJ. I had read a novella length version last year in a boxed set (AJ's POV only) so I was very happy to read the full story with Mia's side of things included.

It's a wonderful story about what really matters in the matters of the heart. Also, as some of the events overlap with Jax and Jocelyn's story, we get a different perspective on that story, too. The writing is superb and the characters come to life right from the very first page. I love this series, and I am hoping the next book will give us Drake and Cara's story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I'm in love with the Bad Boys Redemption by Kimberly Readnour, as her talented writing style always makes sure that I fall in love with those bad boys by the end, despite their bad decision making. In this one, Mia & A.J. met in college, where he talked her into giving him a chance then messed it all up by standing her up without explanation which really messed with her, and him as well since he never got over her. By the time they meet again years later, he's a MLB star catcher & total man whore but decides that he's going to try to get her to give him another chance. Thankfully for my mindset, she gets some revenge before even entertaining a second chance, though their chemistry is still strong. Despite her reservations, that chemistry exploded into super sexy times that lit the sheets on fire, making it harder for her to not catch feelings. There's a cast of secondaries that add a lot more to the story, especially her younger brother, who is drama personified, while others made me laugh hard. There's also a twist or two that had me dropping my favorite f-bombs, and angst levels to get the feelings involved. I LOVE this series, and hope there's more coming, but in the meantime, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Bottom of the Ninth is the newest read in Kimberly Readnour’s Bad Boys Redemption Series and it’s one you won’t want to miss. You will meet AJ Gonzales & Mia Gunner. Their story begins eight years ago and now you see how that all comes back around to the present.
AJ Gonzales is a two time World Series catcher for the Phillies, a good time kind of guy, a great brother & son and a no relationship kind of guy but also a man that let that one girl go so very long ago.
Mia Gunner is a woman who has lived many personal hardships in her life, an inspiring artist but also a woman who has had her heartbroken so long ago that it still bothers her to this day.
AJ & Mia are two people that live with uncertainty when it comes to there own lives and experiences but when it comes to each other you have one that thinks that they will never be good enough and one that feels that they shouldn’t be held on such a pedestal.
You will watch how AJ & Mia will go through so many different obstacles and ups and downs but you will also want to turn the pages faster and faster to see how they can overcome it all and find the necessary path to find that HEA.

EEEKKKKK!!!! We get the story of AJ Gonzales!!!! The delicious catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, is the victim of Mia Gunner, a girl he ghosted years before (even if he had his reasons). Apparently she is still bitter and gets her revenge by making him dress as a creepy elf for the charity calendar that she is shooting.

This two person POV book flashes back to tell Mia and AJ’s history, and how he broke her heart, and fast forwards to today, and how they try to reunite. I LOVE both of these characters!!!

I Freaking Loved this whole series!!! Even though this can be a standalone, the whole series is amazing, and I completely recommend reading the whole series! The past characters blend into this book and help develop the storyline. Book one ~ Swing for the Fences, Book two ~ Second Chance Hero, and Book three ~ Bottom of the Ninth

Kimberly Readnour is an amazing author!!! She has a wonderful writing style and I really enjoy her books. She has a wonderful flow to her stories and this book has humor, love, heartbreak, and intensity. The characters are so yummy in all her books and…baseball! YEP! Definite plus in my book!

AJ is the successful catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He has a reputation on and off the field as a player but his loyalty and love for his family could never be questioned. When he agrees to pose for a photoshoot for a charity calendar he didn’t expect that the photographer witnessing his humiliation would be Mia, the girl whose heart he broke in college.

Mia is no longer the sweet girl whose main concern was pleasing others. Her past has not been easy but it has made her stronger and she knows what direction her life is going and she is not about to be derailed by the sexy catcher for a second time.

Back in college AJ did what he thought was best but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have regrets. Will he be able to convince her to give him a second chance especially with the family drama unfolding around them?

I have enjoyed the series and this story is not exception. Full of emotion and heat watching them find their way back to each other is a homerun!

The third in the Bad Boys Redemption Series, Bottom of the Ninth, was another home run for Kimberly Readnour. Some mysterious twists added to the story and humanized the characters. AJ at times seems like an entitled ball player that is used to getting his way (with women and in life), so humbling characteristics were integral to empathizing with his quest for a second chance at love. Mia would probably be my best friend; a little humorous revenge goes a long way toward mending fences.

Although not my favorite in the series, a quirky love story with an HEA, fun baseball anecdotes, a few real LOLs, a few gut wrenching emotional discoveries, and a few pretty steamy moments makes this book a good choice to get away for awhile. So grateful for a chance to review an ARC to catch the newest in this series. Can't wait for what's next!

Bottom of the Ninth
Kimberly Readnour
Mia put AJ in a creepy elf costume for a charity calendar shoot to start this story with a hearty laugh. Revenge for what happened 8 years earlier. This second chance novel is an expanded version of the one written for a Christmas anthology, this has both Mia and AJ’s POV and back story.
When locked away in the mountains on a wild goose chase looking for their missing siblings can they resist each other? Can the past be forgiven?
With a trade looming how will Mia and AJ react?
“Come on, AJ. It’s the bottom of the ninth with two outs. Time for you to step up to the plate.
Holy crap, she’s right...”
A character driven novel with a HEA. If you like sports stars falling hard for the girl of their dreams you will like this one.

Bottom of the Ninth by Kimberly Readnour is the third book in the Bad Boys Redemption series and is AJ’s story. This second chance romance was emotional and funny and my favorite of the series so far.

AJ walked away from Mia eight years ago. He had his reasons and at the time and it seemed like the right choice. But now, seeing Mia again, even humiliated by her, he wants her all over again. The minute we see these two together, sparks fly, and their chemistry is explosive! But can this truly be their second chance or Is it too late?

AJ and Mia have history and we get to see both the past and present of their story. AJ never forgot Mia and Mia was left heartbroken by AJ. Now they are finding themselves together again and cannot fight their attraction. Their journey was not an easy one, but their story was engaging and one I loved.

It has been years but the hurt is still there. It was the first time that Mia Gunner let a boy like A.J. Gonzales into her life. At the time she knew it will be bad but seeing back now she wonders if maybe she judged to fast. A.J. has never forgotten about Mia but knew at the time he doing a good thing. Now what I loved about this one by Kimberly Readnour is that we see a side of A.J. that nobody sees and for good reasons. These two together have different opinions about each other it is easy to see where they are at right now. The chemistry is still there and also their easy banter was awesome to read about. Really hope there's more of this series loved it.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I loved this story about Mia and AJ. He's a catcher for the Phillies and she is a photographer. They meet back in college when he is a senior and she's a freshman. They hit it off and go on a date, but he stands her up on the second, he thinks she's to good. Fast forward 8 years and they run into each other at a photo shoot for a calendar. AJ is Mr December and is wearing a laughable outfit but he still out it off. Mia is blown away that he still causes her heart to race. They keep getting thrown together from finding and put to Christmas trees to their siblings dating and even getting stuck in a snow storm. Follow as they fight the growing desires and possible move. Great story and characters. Love how the past stories mix into this new one.

I'm a total sucker for sports romances. Second chances a plus too. AJ and Mia met in college, they had an amazing time together and first half date, but AJ decides to not show up on the official date. Mia is just upset because she was starting to fall for him. Fast forward years later, they see each other again, and he feels the same as he did years ago. There is something about her he needs and wants in his life. Mia fights it but once they concede, its fireworks. The chemistry is HOT. They pretty much belong together, but something lingers in the air, and its his team trading. there are complications with siblings, etc.

I'm interested to see if Mia's brother Drake is getting his own book...Enjoyable read.

This is the first book by Kimberly Readnour that I have read and even though this is book 3 in the series, it can be read as a standalone, as I did. Eight years ago in college, AJ won the heart of Mia but just as he gets her to agree to go out with him for a second date, fate steps in. Humiliated and heartbroken, Mia leaves the restaurant not understanding why AJ stood her up. Eight years later they meet again, and that spark is still there. Mia looks like she forgives AJ, but she is actually just plotting her revenge. A series of events throw AJ and Mia together and it all comes down to whether or not AJ believes he is worth Mia's love and for Mia, if she can trust AJ. Well written, enjoyable.

I think you would be hard pressed to find an author better than Kimberly Readnour when it comes to second chance at love stories.
I couldn't wait to read AJ's book, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. He is a great character to read. He is strong when he needs to be, but also doesn't shy away from showing his softer side. Mia is the perfect heroine for AJ. What I liked was that she actually gave AJ the chance to explain and redeem himself. But both are a tiny bit wary as they are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Loved that Zach and Jax made appearances in this book. There are also other great minor characters that add to the story.
Looking forward to reading more from Kimberly in the future.

I love this book so much. Basically, I love everything by this author, but this one is my favorite so far. Mia is such a spit fire. Her personality made me chuckle quite a bit and was impossible not to root for.

An AJ... whew. Someone bring me a fire extinguisher. These two have such great chemistry. I love love love the second chance angle. They could have had something once upon a time but AJ didn't think he was good enough for the innocent Mia.

Now they have no choice but to be around each other because one of AJ's teammates happens to be Mia's brother. Does that mean she's off limits?

He doesn't care. He's getting another shot and he goes all in. These two make my heart happy. Ten stars!

AJ and Maria have history, it was a short but intense history, now years later the meet again, AJ wants to make things right again but Maria got burned and isn't so forgiving. This is a great second chance romance where if it weren't for them being being pushed together things would turn out differently. I really liked how we got to know about both AJ's and Maria's fears about re connecting, admittedly there are times you want to smack their heads together but you totally get where each of them are coming from. I also liked how there was the uncertainty of AJ's future which added another obstacle in the mix. Not only will you like AJ and Mari abut his Mum is a sweet heart and even though his sister is a rat bag at times shes great, Maria's brother on the other hand well...

"I think you would be hard pressed to find an author better than Kimberly Readnour when it comes to second chance at love stories.

Revenge never ended so sweet!! Mia has never gotten over how badly she felt when AJ dumped her in college. But when she has the perfect opportunity to take her revenge on his, she gets way more than she bargained for. Can one truly get over that level of hurt? Or do the secrets that have plagued AJ for his entire life be too much for Mia to understand? I absolutely fell in love with these characters from the opening pages. Kimberly Readmour has a way of writing with humor, intense emotion and beautifully written characters that the reader cannot help but want more. Plus there is nothing better than baseball and romance!!

Bottom of the Ninth is the third book in the Bad Boys Redemption Series, and I must say this is my favorite this far. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but are all interconnected. Aj and Mia's story was such an amazing read, I could not put it down. It is a second chance love story and page after page shows the obstacles they overcome together to show that they are in fact good enough for one another. I love Kimberly's style of writing, this one was very well written and had a great storyline. I would recommend this book to anyone, and cannot wait to see if Kimberly writes more in this amazing series.

We begged for AJ's story and now we have it. Their story is a touching one made all the more clear when we find out why he ghosted her in college. Now he's paying pro ball and her brother's on his team so she can no longer ignore the pain that's associated with him. Both of them have their own problems him feeling like he isn't good enough, her shame for not doing enough. If they can get through their insecurities and let each other end it's a wrap!!!

Love this story and the emotions the author pours into it. This author not only writes a great story it's passionate too but doesn't take over the story. Great story in this standalone series with carryover characters.
