The Phoenix Pack #8

Untamed Delights

Rate this book

Return to the sensual and feral stirrings of the Phoenix Pack as a woman who’s already bound to one man is tempted by a wolf who’s bound only to his nightly desires.

Cat shifter Mila Devereaux can’t help but see it as a betrayal. That her one true mate imprinted himself on another female was hard enough to accept. Struggling to be at peace with her loveless fate, she doesn’t fight the suggestion of entering an arranged mating. Then she meets Dominic, a pack enforcer with a notorious reputation. It’s in his very scent. This irresistible playboy—and delicious badass wolf—is making Mila’s fantasies come alive again.

Alarming, compelling, and heady with sensual energy, Dominic is an expert at making women shed their inhibitions. Now everything about him—his killer smile, his perfectly sculpted body, and his smooth-as-honey voice—is drawing in a captivating new catch. But for the first time in his life, Dominic is feeling more than a fling. He finds himself tantalized by a female who makes him think of forever. He wants all of Mila and won’t be satisfied until he has it.

As the passion grows wild, so does the risk. They’re falling in love in the shadows and secrets of their pasts. And it’s threatening to destroy everything Mila and Dominic are fighting for. And are destined for.

I'm not really in a reviewing/reading (*gasp*) mood this week. I have a lot going on in my personal life that's kind of taking all my attention and mental energy right now.

So, even though this is going to be a horrifyingly shitty review, I just want to at least lay something down in this review space before I completely forget to do so. But enough excuses about me, let's talk about this book.

I have been a Suzanne Wright fan from the very start. I have read this series from the very beginning, as they were released. As I've said before (and as you are probably sick of hearing me mention) I even own a copy of the original version of Feral Sins. You know, the one with the menage scene that was since edited out and removed from whence it came.

I enjoyed it at the time, but I understand why it was taken out once Wright decided to make it into a series. But I digress.

Dominic has been the flirty scene-stealer since book one and I know we have all been waiting for his book with breath bated.

And it was a solid showing.

As all we Wright fans know, Wright follows a fairly specific formula throughout all her Phoenix/Mercury Pack books. And we all know what that formula is. Some readers might be bothered this. They want original story-telling and yadda, yadda, yadda. But you know what I like?

A sure thing.

And every time I open a Wright book, I know I am going to enjoy the shit out of it.

Something I also loved about this specific installment is that, in my opinion, Dominic stayed true to the characterization Wright cultivated for him over the course of the first seven books. Obviously, his cheesy lines became a little more...directed once he got involved with the heroine, but it was still very present.

Something else I really liked about this book also is the fact that Dominic and Mila are not true mates. This is not a spoiler, by the way. It's stated in the blurb and alluded to immediately upon starting. I enjoyed the element of choice and the way life circumstances can affect our opinion of what may or may not be fated.

Anysameshit, if this is the first review of mine on a book from this series and you haven't read some of the...discussion points I alluded to above, I'll just do you a solid and link some of those reviews below for those interested.

I think fans of the series will be pleased with this installment. I am sad to see the end of The Phoenix Pack series (which Wright states this book represents in the author notes). But I look forward to more from The Mercury Pack and Dark in You series.

My reviews for other books in this series:
Book one: Feral Sins
Book two: Wicked Cravings
Book three: Carnal Secrets
Book four: Dark Instincts
Book five: Savage Urges
Book six: Fierce Obsessions
Book seven: Wild Hunger

i love them, your honor. 🥰 this book and these characters will always be my #1 comfort book by this author. Mila and Dominic have my heart.

HOW TO GET OVER A BOOK HANGOVER 101:
1. reread the book that put you into a book hangover to begin with.
2. repeat step one until you can read something else.

The feeling when you study/work hard for an exam/on a project and you're asking yourself: is this all really worth it? Then you'll get the result and see that all the blood, sweat and tears have payed off.

I've been wanting to read Dominic and Mila's story since I've read When He’s Dark. Eight books and a whole series later and Dominic has not let me down. I just knew my baby boy would serve and he did. 😭

EXCUSE MEEEEE, BUT I NEED TO SCREAM TO THE WORLD HOW MUCH I LOVE MILA DEVEREAUX AND DOMINIC BLACK.

One day. Not today and probably not tomorrow, but one day I'm going to write a review that's going to match Mila and Dominic excellence, but now I just don't have the mental capacity, cause I need 1. to cry about them some more and 2. to reread When He’s Dark for their breadcrumbs <3

Reread July 2023

It's no secret that I love Suzanne Wright. She is one of my favorite authors. The Phoenix Pack was my favorite of all her series. Dominic stole my heart from book one with his corny pick up lines and playful charm. I was both excited and sad when I got Untamed Delights. Excited that I was finally getting Dom's HEA. Sad that it is the last book in the Phoenix Pack series. I don't want my favorite set of sexy badass shifters stories to stop. So I felt a little better at the end of the book when the author notes said we will still see our beloved favorites again in the new spin off series Olympus Pride. Though not my favorite in the series, I still really loved Untamed Delights. Dom was yummy and funny as always. I liked Mila a lot. They had off the wall sexual tension. I loved getting deeper with Dom and seeing new sides to him. I love the pallas cat shifters they are so crazy funny. Mila and Dom made a really cute couple. Seeing all the pack mates again and the kids melted my heart. It sometimes amazes me how attached I can become to a series. Reading this book made me want to go back and reread the whole series. I really loved Mila's family. Both sides were funny as hell. and I hope her brother Alex gets a book in the new spin off. I think one of my favorite parts in the whole book was the other males giving Dom a little pay back for all the flirting he did with their mates over the years. Overall a really good ending to a much loved series.

Oh, how I love this author and anything she writes !! I am a huge fan of shifters, vampires, and demons and so you can imagine my giddiness the day I discovered Suzanne Wright's books. I have been a stalker fan, ever since.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor stalker fan gif

Writing this review is a bit double for me. This is the 8th and last book in the "Phoenix Pack" series after all and I am not bored yet....not by a long shot. No matter how much I have wanted to read "Dominic's book (ever since book 1) I am a bit sad now that I am done... I am not ready to say goodbye !! These people are all like family now ...if my family consisted of big bad broody alpha wolves that is :P

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor pack of wolves gif

Thankfully, Suzanne has stated at the end of this book, that we will be seeing all our favorites again. They will have cameos in the new and upcoming series `Olympus Pride`. And I also have "Shard of Frost" to look forward too and new books in the "Dark in You" series. So no time to be sad really !!

As I have said, I have been a bit in love with Dominic since meeting him in "Feral Sins". I just knew that this incredible flirt would find an even more incredible mate ;) But....not a true mate. I liked that...a lot. We have had all sorts of mates in this series and most of them were "true" ones, but I am thankful that Dominic's story was different. They really made the decision to be together, without fate or whatever deciding for them. I mean Mila's true mate was right under her nose and she could have fought for him if she wanted to...but she didn't.

wicked sexy gif - Google zoeken

She didn't want to be with someone who was in love with another, not even if they were technically "made for each other". She chose for herself and her choice was Dominic...

This one was definitely another favorite of mine and I can't wait to read Elliot's story in Shard of Frost which is gonna be out about the same time this book is !!!

I highly recommend this series and all the others by this author!!

15/6/19 Review now posted

Everyone's favourite naughty wolf shifter finally got his own book! And who would have guessed that the adorable, cheesy goofball that is Dominic had more layers than a 10 layer chocolate cake?!Or that his mate would be a cutely vicious pallas cat?!

description

I don't know why I thought that Dominic's book would be more lighthearted and cheesy. Maybe because he is the King of cheesy pick up lines and has throughout 7 books been the one to tease and infuriate his pack mates, the one that made them smile. So, when I got more layers than I expected I was literally ecstatic! He is not the one dimensional horny cheeseball we know but so much more. We saw so many sides of him in this book that his image has been forever changed in my mind. And I loved it! And to top it all off SW made him into an awesome dirty talker too! That was like the frosting on an already scrumptious cake.

description

His chosen mate, a pallas cat shifter Mila Devereaux was the most subtle of perfect matches. Their compatibility and suitableness wasn't in your face but rather unfolded during the book. And despite me tending to like the true matches more, I can't deny that in this book SW made me love the imprinted couples so much more. Mila is part of the pallas cat pride we met in Madisyns book (Echoes of Fire, The Mercury Pack #4) and we got to see a lot more of them in this one. So much more that it really made me want a spin-off for them or the other side of her family, the Russian wolverines while I was reading. (And my wishes are getting fulfilled as we are getting an Olympus Pride spin-off according to her acknowledgements!)

Their getting together wasn't instant and I loved that too. They both had issues and both had to chose to be with each other. And of course SW doesn't make it easy on either of them. Add a crazy fling and her delusional father from Dominic's past and Mila's true mate that has imprinted on someone else and everything takes on a dangerous edge.

I think I'm running out of words to say how much I love this author and her storytelling. Her formula is fantastic and is always a winner for me. I cannot recommend her enough. From this series to her Dark In You series and Deep In Your Veins she has continually surprised and pleased me. I'm sad that we got to the end of the Phoenix Pack series but we got a lovely epilogue. Also I'm sure that I will love whatever she decides to write next.

Dominic is still my favorite of the Phoenix pack and this book lived up to my expectations

I give this a full 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

Dominic lived up to all my expectations with his hilarious wit, awesomely cheesy but creative one liners and sexual innuendos. Only this time he devoted them strictly to one person instead of the mates of his friends and pack. Mila is a girl he meets in the Mercury run bar and at first he sees her as a short fling but quickly figures out he feels more for her than he usually does with women.

“There’s really no point in me pushing for sex.” Keeping one arm around her, he moved to prop his hip against the counter. “My cock…well, it died. Is it okay if I bury it in your pussy?” He smiled at her exasperated look. “Or you could try giving it some mouth-to-mouth. Hey, it might rise from the dead – you never know.”
She handed him a steaming mug. “You have serious issues.”
“Nothing I haven’t heard before.”

For those detractors that are disappointed in the fact that they are not true mates, and I have seen a few reviews that say that. Stating that it is getting old. I don’t know what series they have been reading, but if I remember correctly, most of the previous books have been about the couples actually being true mates but not realizing it at first because something was in the way of the bond forming, like emotional issues.

However in this one, I actually thought it was refreshing that they knew from the start that they were not true mates so they were not pining for that true mate link. Mila was at the very beginning but she got over it very quickly when she started to get the hots for Dominic. And really who wouldn’t? Dominic is hot and apparently so is another part of his anatomy and he isn’t afraid to tell everybody. This book was steamy!

The storyline about the threats was pretty great also. Suzanne Wright has a great formula for these books, where they all have a few standard elements including a romance between one of the main characters in the pack and another person, storyline to keep the war between the shifters and the human extremists going, and a storyline where a character in the romance is in danger or is searching for something in order to resolve something in their life. This formula works very well. It gives the romance additional angst or depth, it adds a lot of action and usually it adds some awesome fight sequences. I love it and could read as many more as Suzanne can write.

Untamed Delights is the eighth book in The Phoenix Pack. Suzanne Wright has done it again by offering up another fantastic shifter book full of passion, romance, and non-stop action. Will I ever get sick of these paranormal couplings?!?!? NEVER! Cat shifter Mila Devereaux has suffered great loss after her true mate has imprinted on another. After deciding the best course of action for her is to move away and re-start her life, she meets the man who will rock her world. Dominic, a pack enforcer, has never been a man to back down from what he wants and he wants Mila!!!!

"I'm not afraid of commitment, baby.
If this takes us somewhere good, all the better."
Told in multiple POV, Untamed Delights is another MUST READ for shifter lovers everywhere! With drama, suspense, intrigue, and smoking hot passion, this is one read you will not want to miss!

"This is the only place I want to be. I've never wanted, never needed, anything the way I do you."

Audio "re-read" 12/2/19.
One of the hottest audio's of the series!

I'm so sad to see this series end, but I couldn't be happier with the way that it did. Dominic and Mila put a permanent smile on my face while I was reading their story. Dominic has been the character throughout this series that was always a strong presence and the one that I was dying to see finally find his mate. Mila was honestly the perfect woman for him and his raunchy jokes. She always found the perfect responses to his silliness and I loved that about them. Seriously, they were the most adorable couple.

There was also a lot of action going on in the story that had me on the edge of my seat. I was constantly questioning what was going to happen and I had no clue who was behind everything. Which I loved since I always think the best books are the ones that can keep be guessing.

One of the things I enjoy the most from this series is how the Pack comes together to solve whatever problem is currently happening, and in this book we had the bonus of also seeing that with Mila's family, the Olympus Pride. Getting to see more of those characters has me excited to see what Ms. Wright is planning for their own series.

I’ll bet you’re one of those guys who gives his cock a name.”
“I call mine ‘the truth.’”
“The truth?”
“Because women can’t handle it.”

Finally, my favorite goofball of the Phoenix Pack gets a book and he did NOT disappoint. Dom has been one of my absolute favorite secondary characters in this series. The man can deliver a cheesy pick up line like no other.
As it happens, my Alpha is considering having me committed. Especially since I keep claiming my watch is magic. But it really is.”
She gave him a droll look. “Is that so?”
“Oh yeah.” He glimpsed at his watch. “According to this, you’re not wearing underwear.”
Her brows drew together. “Actually, I am.”
“Really? Hmm.” Frowning, he tapped the watch. “Must be an hour fast.”

But I'd be lying if I didn't admit I was a little afraid to read his book because of this. While Dom was great in small doses, I wasn't sure how the author would pull off an entire book that may be full of his goofball tactics. So color me surprised when I learned that Dom is easily one of the most multi-layered characters I've read in this series. Seriously, y'all, the man's layers have layers, and they're DEEP. You think you know him, but there's a wealth of pain that he keeps hidden under the goofball facade. And if you think you know what that pain is, you couldn't be more wrong.

If there's one thing that I love about Suzanne Wright, it's her ability to deliver some of the sassiest and feistiest heroines ever. And when it comes Mila, she was no exception. I love the cute and fluffy yet vicious dynamic of the pallas cats, and Mila was awesome! This woman can kick some serious a$$ and look adorable doing it.

The story definitely didn't disappoint either. Both Mila and Dom had a super intriguing story line. First with Dom's love em and leave em past coming back to really bite him on the butt. And Mila dealing with the fallout of meeting her true mate but after he falls in love and imprints on her cousin.

In true Wright fashion there's plenty of sizzle in this quick paced and action packed romance. Dom and Mila together were incendiary. I loved watching him really have to work for a female for once. And Mila sure mad him work. This is a woman that doesn't give in easily, but when she does? FIREWORKS!!!

If you've been eagerly anticipating Dom's book like I have been, you definitely won't be disappointed with this one!

There's one thing Suzanne Wright nails every single time and that's her characters. Dominic has intrigued me since the first book with his flirting and snark, and I knew that went an awful lot deeper than we'd seen so far and was I ever right. Damn, my heart hurt for him and what he went through as a child. But .... there's hope! Cue Mila, one of the best characters SW has written to date. Kickass, take no prisoners, fierce and yet underneath all that was a heart of gold.

I really liked their slow build road to love with no ridiculous pushing away. Loved the family and pack support and meeting the crazy Pallas pack and was thrilled to find out they're going to feature in a spin off series. I can't get enough of Wright's shifters! I've loved this series and am sad to see it come to a close, I hope to see peeks of the Phoenix Pack in other books.

There was a lot of action and intrigue with Mila having a baddie after her and at times I felt this slowed up Dominic and Mila's romance a little.

For the last book in the Phoenix Pack series, it seems fitting that Dominick would be the last wolf to fall. He's been giving come on lines to all the guys mates, it was time for the player to be get some payback.

I loved Dominick and Mila. I've been wanting to see more depth into Dominicks character since we first met him. For being such a player, he really handled the other women well once he meets Mila.

Mila was an awesome heroine. I absolutely loved how she handled so many situations. She just came off so mature and respectable. She was the perfect mate for Dominick.

There is a lot going on in this book. It's filled to the brim with action and multiple storylines all orbiting around these two. Despite being a lot to deal with, it did show how well these two handled things together. It was also great to see recurring characters.

I have to say I'm pretty sad that this series over, but so thrilled to hear that the author will be giving us glimpses of these characters in a new series she has in the works. I love them so much, I don't want to let them go and I'm excited for the new characters we will get to know.

I have been eagerly awaiting this book and it had absolutely no problems at all living up to my expectations. 👍
Will be writing a totally non-objective review very soon.😋

4.5++ stars.
Suzanne Wright is one of those few authors that I will drop whatever I am currently reading or about to start in favor of reading her latest release. This book being a case in point. I have a tendency to devour her books only coming up for air when I reach the final pages.

I know many readers have probably wondered how she would portray Dominic's story in this, the last of the Phoenix Pack series and she totally nailed it IMO. So true to character.

Dominic has directed many cheesy pick-up lines towards the female love interests of his male pack-mates over the last seven books so it is no surprise to find out here that they are all more than happy to return the favor once he becomes involved with Mila (a cat shifter and hands down one of SW's best female characters ever- absolutely adored her).
The fact that they weren't true mates only made their relationship more special in my opinion and I really loved them together. Sigh!!!

Though Suzannes Wright's books do tend to follow a set and distinct formula storywise which I also personally enjoy, I really felt that the relationship between these two was the shining star here and the action took a little bit more of a backseat for me.

I would definitely be a lot sadder about this final Phoenix Pack story if Suzanne didn't have another wolf shifter series that she is still currently adding on to (The Mercury Pack) plus there is also going to be another "Dark in You" series release in July. Yippee!!!
I totally see rereads in my future though.

Dominic’s story has been a long time coming and I was super excited to get my hands on his book. After turning it over and over again in my head to try to settle my thoughts, I’m still a bit conflicted over it.

I loved Dominic in the first half of the book. He was the same flirty, outrageous goofball that we’ve seen throughout the series. He instantly falls for Mila and sets out to woo her. Doesn’t matter that Mila does everything she can think of to dissuade him, Dominic pursues her single-mindedly and I expected nothing less from a Phoenix Pack member. The second half? Not so much. His trademark humor does make a comeback towards the end but his easy going attitude kind of got lost somewhere in the middle.

Mila on the other hand was a bit hard to warm up too. Mila is conflicted because she has met her destined mate (not Dominic) and she and her cat are pissed and hurt because this OM has already fallen in love and imprinted someone else. She doesn’t see a random hook up with Dom as something to look forward too. She’s been burned badly by the one guy made for her and she doesn’t really know where to go from there. And that’s kind of where the story starts to unravel for me.

It was hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that fated mates are not all that special since people are imprinting with others, left and right in this book. I felt like the majority of their love story is them desperately trying to convince themselves that not waiting for their fated mate and instead living in the moment and imprinting with someone else was going to be enough. Maybe it was hard because for a big part of this series, we’ve seen how great and irrevocably strong/special a true fated mating is, that this relationship just felt off. Or maybe it was the really sad feeling I got every time the consequences of Adele and Joel’s imprinting left on everyone else that made this book such a downer for me.

Throw in a bunch of outside drama with a few jealous exes, assassins, and extremists and I was really tempted to start skimming just to get it over with. The debate over fated mates vs choosing for yourself left me underwhelmed, sadly. This is never a good sign when reading a book I’ve been waiting so long to read.

Bottom line, it was a good story but it felt like way too much was jammed together and none of it was really all that interesting. I gave it an extra star because if nothing else, stick around for one of the cutest epilogues ever! The whole gang is back and you literally get to see everyone! It was probably my favorite part of the book! An adorable way to end the series.

Disappointed doesn't even begin to explain how I felt about this book. Honestly there were three emotions I felt reading this book:

1. Disappointed

2. Bored

3. Annoyed

I am so, so tired of the "we're not true mates" plot I really don't understand why this author keeps doing this. Legit, the main reason I read shifter/werewolf romances is because I love the idea of there being a soul-mate, someone who is your second half and it's what I used to love about her books too. But these last few books have been so frustrating for me because suddenly the author wants it to be about not being with your one true mate, and with this one she knows who he is but decides she's going to give him up and not bother which...makes zero sense. If the author's going to keep going in this path, I'm probably going to stop reading these books.

I didn't feel connected to Dominic and Mila's romance at all. Yes the sex scenes are hot but I didn't believe they were perfect for each other. I feel like they were so interchangeable, meaning I didn't see or understand what really made Dominic perfect for Mila and vice versa. It could've been anyone switched into their roles and I wouldn't have even noticed or made a difference. Also, this book just felt so boring and drawn out. It certainly didn't need to be as long as it was. I had to start skimming in the end because I just couldn't get though more details about this drawn out "who's trying to kill Mila" sub-plot.

The epilogue was cute but honestly there are so many damn kids that I couldn't even keep up with who was who's kid and whatnot. I'm also curious to when this new werewolf series will take place, before or after the epilogue since the epilogue takes place almost 10 years in the future. I'm happy this series is over and while this definitely isn't a favorite for me, I'll still hold most of these books close to my heart.

I'm so sad it is over!! I know we will get cameos in the other books, but how will I move on from my Phoenix boys. I loved them all so much.

Dominic's story was done well. He was the ultimate playboy and I love that while he didn't sleep around after meeting Mila he didn't fall instantly and "change his ways" in his head. SW did an awesome job making him transition from playboy to the perfect alpha mate. And the way they handled them not being true mates was done perfectly. I was a little worried that Mila was going to be hung up on Joel (her true mate) from the way the summary reads, but she wasn't.

GQ's one liners were hilarious.

Love seeing the new packs, and I'm ready to start the Mercury Pack and see how they all came together.

ARC Received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I can't believe that this is already the eighth book of this series. Time sure does fly by, especially with these great characters. I have to admit that I forgot some of the characters stories from previous books but given that the first one came out seven years ago I think I can be forgiven. Anyway, from what I do remember of the previous reads, I had some reservations about Dominic's character since he was such a huge flirt and the ladies sure did love him (and still do in this book). But turns out that my prejudice was just that. In the end I fell in love with his unique humor and how he deep down was actually a great guy. He just needed the right woman or better said the right pallas cat to make him overcome his insecurities. And don't even get me started on Mila's character. She truly is awesome. She's the most no bullshit and down to earth character I've read in a long while. That is until you try to cross her, then she's the devil cat incarnate, which btw I'm all down for. I mean, if someone had to go through so much stuff as she did, you bet I'd be so angry not even the pope could save me. At times it even felt like I was reading a Game of Thrones episode, so much treachery... But in the end, I loved it all. Even the crazy exes didn't bother me, not in the slightest. Save to say they all got what the deserved, ha! It always feels great when you know that you can count on the author to do right by the characters and essentially by the reader. So, can I say that I liked and enjoyed the story? Sure can! I even think that this one, apart from the first book, is my favourite story of this series. Everything just fits. And on that note, if you read the previous books in this series and aren't sure about this one, then I would highly recommend you read it. Bacause it's amazing and I'm sure you won't be regreting it.

I’ve been waiting for Dominic’s story for a long time! This guy was famous for his suggestive jokes, which always make me laugh! He’s seemingly an easy going, love-um-and-leave-um sort of guy, but we finally get his backstory and turns out Dominic’s not as easy going as he seems. True, he’s avoided commitment, but as he sets eyes on Mila something inside him shifts, and commitment doesn’t sound so bad. Even better if that means holding onto Mila, because she brings out possessive instincts he thought he never had.

For the most part, Suzanne Wright’s shifter stories have been romances between true mates, meaning the two were made for each, destined to be each other’s mate. This is the second story I’ve read by here where the couple aren’t true mates, in fact, Mila knows the identity of her true mate, knew it was him the minute she laid eyes on him, but her mate, Joel, didn’t recognize her because he was already in love with another woman. In this version of shifters, pairs can imprint and form bonds like true mates if their love and trust is strong.

Mila was planning on moving to another pack, open to the idea of an arranged mating. However, her plans start to shift when Dominic sort of forces his way into her life. There is a definite irresistible attraction between them, but Mila’s not interested in him at all after hearing his reputation. She’s not the kind of woman that would tolerate being another notch in his bedpost. But Dominic’s like an annoying gnat that just won’t go way, lol.

I was happy the conflict in Untamed Delights wasn’t from unnecessary relationship drama, instead the drama came from the constant threats against Mila’s life and a couple of delusional humans. As Dominic and Mila try to find out why she’s a target, they become closer, and as shifters do (even if you’re not true mates) bonds start to form. I also appreciated that Mila doesn’t stress out over Dominic’s past conquests or whether or not he’ll commit to her, a lot of times when a character keeps worrying over that kind of stuff, it stresses me out, too.

This is the eighth book in the series, but you don’t need to read the other books first. You could read these books out of order because they’re each stand-alone, different couple/romance. If you like fun shifter stories with quite a bit of sizzle, humor and a bit of danger I recommend any of Suzanne Wright’s shifter stories.

Apparently, this is the last book in the Phoenix Pack series and Ms. Wright gifted us with an epilogue some years into the future featuring not only Dominic and Mila, but our past couples too. Loved it!

3.5 Happy Stars - 12th December 2020

I love it when a book is better the second time around.

3 Overall Pleased Stars

After her true mate imprints on someone else, Mila decides to move to Russia, and have her maternal uncles arrange a mating for her, her cat is more than just a little peeved that their fated mate is with someone else and didn’t recognise them for who they are. But before Mila makes her trip, it appears she has to deal with someone trying to kill her due to her brother owing money and the entrance of pack enforcer and ladies’ man Dominic (Dom).

Dom and Mila didn’t feel like they were settling for each other thank goodness, but their relationship didn’t feel as potently developed as other couples who have imprinted in previous books. There was an emotional layer/tone missing for me. The heat between them was apparent, but something more was needed to make their imprinting/mating one that had me sighing in delight.

Finally, Dom’s packmates get the chance to thank him for all the cheesy lines he has used on their mates, by focusing on Mila.

Mila’s mom was an interesting and amusing character, giving her son (Alex) truth serum so she could know what her daughter’s up to (lol).

Some of the characters in this book – the wolverines, reminded me a tad of the craziness of the honey badgers in Shelly Laurenston’s shifter romance books – hopefully Wright will give Mila’s brother Alex a book of his own.

Having read this so close after Shards of Frost, I can say there are some parallels/similarities in the plots, for example the heroine’s brother positioned as bringing trouble to her door.

I can see myself re-reading this via KU again at some and I’d purchase when on sale (99p).

Acquired via KU.

I am so happy this series is over and sadly it did not go out with a bang.

I'm sorry to say this but when you read one of the "park series" you've read them all. There's always someone jealous, there's always some extremist, someone almost dies, someone hold back from forming the bond. It's just the same thing over and over again just with different characters.

This book though sort of put a coil in what I thought I already knew from the previous books. I have the impression that in the other books true mates are to be revered and everyone wants one, they can't really help them selves. It's only when something goes wrong, like say the true mate dies when shes a kid or something that the other person can move on and imprint on someone else. Although he might feel the ache that he's not with his true mate he is so in love that it doesn't bother him that one.

That did not happen in this book. Somehow it was convenient for Mila to not be besieged with grief when she saw that her truemate was imprinting on someone else. She was hurt but after some pages she was able to get over it. I just don't buy it, all of a sudden the whole truemate thing seemed like a tool that the author used willy-nilly.

Still I'm glad this is over because I wasn't sure I could read any more of the series, I don't even know what convinced me to read this one. Boredom, perhaps. I wasn't even interested in reading the sexy bits that's how tasking this book was to read. Thankfully Greta wasn't a bitch in this one because I would have lost it if she was.

This is the second novel I've read by this author and it still feels like something is missing. I wish I knew what it was because, this time around, the storyline was very consistent and action-packed. There was always something happening whether it was the relationship between the main characters or finding a clue to a mystery that needed to get solved.

Mila was a feisty no BS kind of gal and I loved her for it! Her family is a hoot and her cat is no joke. There goes to show you that just because someone is small doesn't mean they don't have teeth and claws that they know how to use. Her development throughout the story was interesting to see. The situation she was in wasn't great and her need to get away from anything and everything she knew was understandable. Her dynamic with Dominic throughout the story was ever-changing. I loved how they always kept each other on their toes.

I'll admit that I wasn't a big fan of Dominic in the beginning. Arrogant womanizers tend to be a turn off for me. Having to hear about all the women he was with at one point was not something I cared to be privy to. Though he was pushier than I would be comfortable with he did eventually wear Mila down. That's not a very good thing to say in this day and age (with the #MeToo movement) but Mila chose him after he kept at it (even though that still doesn't make it ok for me). I would have preferred if it had gone a different route but that's just me.

The ending was a blur. The nightclub events were chaotic and heart-pounding! The epilogue delivered a sweet happy ending for Mila and Dominic. Overall this was a good story but something still doesn't click for me with these novels/author.

The Audio Book:

The narration was good! I could differentiate all the characters when having a conversation containing 3+ characters. The recording was very clear (audio-wise) and relaxing to listen to.

This is one of the best books of the series! Dom and Mila are perfect together. I liked how the previous couples were in the story a lot. The plot was great and the ending was even better. That epilogue was everything the previous couples we got see where they were and Dom/Mila also. Over all amazing book.

3.5 Mildly Disappointing Stars
Obsessive-compulsive, dirty-line disorder sufferer, and manwhore extraordinaire Dominic finally gets his chance at a HEA with Mila Devereaux. I REALLY like most of this; I liked that we have more Pallas Cats action. I LOVED Mila’s crazy family; we get more from them in her twin’s (Alex) book When He’s Dark.

We know from the blurb that this is another imprinting situation; it’s a smidge messy, and more complicated than we’ve seen in previous books, but I thought it was handled well. There’s only one part that was never really addressed, The development of the relationship felt authentic. Dom doesn’t immediately start adulting, and it was fun to watch him grow up, 😊 and getting his backstory. Mina was great at balancing being a supporting partner while not taking any shit while he was figuring out how to have a relationship. There’s plenty of action with 2 separate “danger” subplots, and a smidge of crazy wannabe OW antics which is always a ➕ for me.

The big action scene at the end was gut-wrenching, and the audible narration for chapter 23 was fantastic. My only real grump, but it’s kind of a big one, was the epilogue. (jumps 8 years forward) This was the 8th, and final Phoenix pack book, and I was totally bummed that we got just a few sentences about each couple before moving on to the obligatory All I’m saying is some of us have invested huge hunks of our reading time into this series, and after almost 3000 pages… I wanted a little more page time dedicated to the characters. BUT… pushing that aside I really liked it, and although it’s much the same as we’ve seen before; things are shaken up a wee bit.

Bottom Line- Pretty good, but mildly disappointing. I’m biased, and will round up, but would also totally agree with a solid *** rating. Basically... a super solid 3, or a pretty wimpy 4. I’m sad to see the series end, but feel like it’s time.

Honestly I can’t read about Dante, Marcus, Trick or Tao. Mainly because excluding the ménage scene in the new edition of the first book in the series - their storylines still remained in tact. They just aren’t safe characters for me. Author obviously shifted her outlook on the safety on her books as the years have passed.

Book 2: Dante fell in love with and pursued an OW whilst his actual mate was right there - super attracted and yearning for him. Screams doormat.

Book 3/4: Marcus used to fuck Patrick. Trick did Marcus. We got their live action sex scene in the first book, so I’m not going to touch either their books where they find their “true-mates” because it’s the equivalent of any reading other in-depth sex scene with an OW/OM which I can’t do. Being in the same pack together. I know they’re friends but... it taints the OTP romance that is going to happen. There’s an attraction to men there but it’s downplayed - he scratched an “itch” - did both of them have to end up with females? Idk just disappointing.

Book y: Tao liked frigging Taryn. He was serious about her in Book 1. Wanted to mate her. Willing to leave his pack. Can’t be asked for his book with Riley. Even if he’s well past that.

So this series is basically out for me because I’m not okay with any of the H’s including Trey and his little exhibitionist, voyeuristic sharing stance.

I’m was on the fence about reading Dominic’s book mainly because he’s a walking, smooth talking std threat. Thing is I at-least wanted to read one more book from the series. So I did. It was alright. I wanted to see Dominic’s reaction to his true mate - would’ve preferred that for his character rather than imprinting. It wasn’t anything amazing or special. There’s OW drama on his part where his ONS’s try to create problems. There’s OM drama on her side because she knows her true mate but he’s imprinted on someone else and can’t sense the bond. She’s let him go but her cat is still very wounded from the experience.

All in all, it was okay for a manwhore book, but to be honest, all the wolves in every book are manwhores so.... 🤷‍♀️

5 ‘HEA PERFECTION’ Stars

Awww… This was the most PERFECT way to wrap up the PNR awesomeness that is The Phoenix Pack! No wonder Suzanne Wright is my Queen of PNr, this ending truly was PERFECTION!

I slowly (ok, not really, lol) UNTAMED DELIGHTS, savored so that I could enjoy every word to its fullest, because I don’t want to say goodbye to this Phoenix Pack gang.

Dominic, the impish, sexual lines addict wolf shifter, was indeed the perfect character to be left for last – and whose story we all have all been dying for since book one – and Mila, the kickass and overall awesome pallas cat shifter was the perfect counter part for Dom’s complex character. Only she could see right through his too playful facade. Ahhh, how I adored them as couple! With my deep love for fated mates, I never expected one of my fav from the story would be a imprinted couple, that about says it of how fantastic this book is. And so much more complex and rich character, background and plot wise! I indeed loved every second of interaction of these two and all the cameos from past couples and wished it never to end!

Untamed Delights was pure PNR magic that just cemented Suzanne Wright as my PNR Queen given the conclusion of not of Dominic and Mila but the pack as whole was PERFECTION, that epilogue had me 😍😍😍! Now I just need it to be Wednesday to get the final Mercury Pack, Shards of Frost in my grabby hands!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“Doesn’t matter to me what fate intended. I decide my own fate, and I chose Mila. She’ll always be my choice.

Despite that Dominic wasn’t predestined to be hers, Mila saw him as her mate. Her claim on him ran soul-deep.
