Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined together with Shin Hayata of the Science Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters called Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero—a new kind of Ultraman…
The battle against the Star of Darkness in New York City ends in a blinding flash of Spacium rays. While things return to normal for the SSSP, in the aftermath, Adad betrays the Star Cluster Council and flees to Hong Kong. Now, two assassins known as the Leo Brothers have been sent to hunt him down. In this battle of unleashed beasts, there is only victory or death…
There were a couple of interesting little call outs to the regular Ultra lore in here that I liked, such as bringing in Windam, so maybe that'll mean we'll get this universe version of the other capsule monsters at some point. Some story seeds that had been planted before now seem to starting to bare fruit but not at a fast pace. So this does seem like the calm before the storm as they say despite the major fight scene that was the biggest focus of this particular volume. There was something else debuting this particule volume but saying what it is would be a tad spoilery
The aftermath of the battle in New York reveals new secrets from the Land of Light and the Leo brothers stop by while tensions between the aliens and humans grow. Art is fluid and dynamic and the story manages to raise the stakes even more.
Yet another volume that strays more and more from the soul of Ultra, while digging deeper into the mythology to bring new characters - based on classic characters - to life. The stakes are higher than ever, and a new menace is here.
This is more of a setup volume, but it still has some great action scenes with the Leo Brothers and Seven - now with Windom!
