The task of finding the killer of a Jane Doe from more than thirty years ago isn’t going to be easy. In fact, it might be impossible. After spending most of his life in his father’s shadow this is Chris Marks’ opportunity to show what he can do. So when he sees a woman on television that’s the spitting image of the victim, he’s determined to talk to her.

Ella Scott is a reporter tired of covering dog shows and charity car washes. She’s dying to sink her teeth into a real story. When Chris tells her she might be a connection to a cold case, she jumps at the chance to cover the murder investigation.

But someone out there doesn’t want the case resurrected and is determined to shut it down. By any means necessary. As the danger escalates, so does their passion for one another. Can Chris keep the two of them safe long enough to bring in a cold-blooded killer?

Loved this new series💕

Elusive identities is the newest spin off from the Cowboys Association by Olivia and it was fantastic!
It follows Chris Marks, the son of one of our favourite cowboy sheriffs Tanner Marks😁 Chris has moved to be closer to his daughter and is trying out for a new job with the Serials and Stalkers Division. His latest assignment is a thirty year old cold case for a Jane Doe, with little to no evidence about who killed her but with technology advancements they have a probable rendition of what she might’ve looked like. A chance viewing on TV brings Chris a clue, he never could’ve imagined❣️

Ella is a reporter and when she’s approached by a handsome man in regards to a cold case murder, she never in her wildest dreams could’ve thought about the direction in which her future was about to take😍

A fabulous story and I absolutely can’t wait to read Brew’s story next🤩 Though have to admit thought Knox’s would be next....but I will wait (im)patiently for his......😜

This book was so slow in every way. Both the romance and the suspense plots dragged. I read until 54% into the book and Chris and Ella still had not even kissed, in fact, there was only mentioned that they were attracted to each other via inner dialogue.

Additionally, the 30 year-old Cold Case remained barely sussed out, and there was no intrigue or danger at more than half-way through the book..so no romance and no intrigue more than half-way through a romantic suspense novel, and I was bored to tears. I don’t know how folks gave this book such high ratings. It was such a disappointment that I wasted so much time on trying to find out why the ratings were so good. As such, I have no desire to read anything else by this author.

Ella is a reporter and works at a local news station. Chris is a former deputy but has applied for a job at a company that helps small town law enforcement to solve crimes. He's given a cold case where a woman was found thirty years ago with her hands cut off. He sees Ella on tv one night and notices a resemblance to his Jane Doe. She knew she was adopted but that she was the child of her dad's sister. When she confronts them, it all comes out. They don't know who her parents are. So she begins to investigate and ends up teaming with Chris to find out who Jane Doe is and who killed her. But someone doesn't want the past dug up and Ella ends up being in danger. Can they find the answers before they are successful in hurting her?
Good story with sex and suspense. The only thing was all the grammar mistakes. One time a name was used when it should have been another. But overall it will have you on the edge of your seat.

Four cold cases, four candidates, two job openings on the Serials and Stalkers team at JLJ in Seattle. Chris Marks’ former boss is in awe of Chris’ legendary father and jealous Chris may already have the job. They’ve been partnered and the ability to work as a team and use their resources as well as their skill is key to earning the top two a job.

Chris goes to rookie reporter, Gabriella ‘Ella’ Scott after noting a vague resemblance to the victim of his case. Ella can’t help with identification but begs to be involved. Ella’s, who’s been begging to write hard news is excited when her boss doesn’t object to her helping Chris try to identify the victim.

Despite Chris’ refusing Ella’s help, she promptly inserts herself in his investigation putting meat into his bare bones files by finding information Chris doesn’t have and asking the right questions of the few witnesses he has to start. Grudgingly working together, Chris and Ella try to ignore the romance beginning to simmer between them.

Good start for a new series, nice chemistry between the leads, good pacing and a well-done soft mystery with plenty of red herrings.

Well-done beginning to a spinoff from both the CJA and the Danger Incorporated series. Chris Marks is the sometimes troubled son of Sheriff Tanner Marks of Springwood. He has gotten divorced and moved to Seattle to be close to his ex-wife, her new husband and Chris' daughter Annie. He has received an opportunity to work in a new division of Danger Inc - JLJ where Logan, Jason, and Jared consult with departments across the country. The new division specifically works with serial killers, stalkers and cold cases that small police departments may not have the expertise for.

Chris is given a cold case as a trial - a woman who was left beside a highway thirty years earlier with her hands cut off so that she would be impossible to identify. Newer science has made the case more approachable and Chris begins work. When he sees a local news reporter who resembles the DOA, he thins - correctly-that she may be a connection. There are a lot of walls that have to come down first before any progress can be made, but the connection and the romance can leap from there.

4.50 Stars for this first book in this new series by an author known for her superb Cowboy Justice books. The first thing that caught my attention was the originality of the plot. The story-line is based on a 30 year Cold Case and a reporter that looks very much like the victim. While trying to solve this case, Chris Marks reaches out to Ella Scott to ask her if by any chance she had a female relative that went missing years ago. This sets off a chain of events that brings forth secrets, lies, mystery, danger, and love. The author does an excellent job expressing the emotions of the characters in a very realistic manner. Now a word on Chris, as he is a Keeper! What a great, kind, sexy, and understanding man this Chris is. I just added him to my “Top 10 Best Book Boyfriends” list.

Another fantastic book! What a start to a brand new series. I loved the cowboy justice series and this spin off is just as action packed.

The plot was beautifully woven and kept me guessing, I loved the suspense, I loved how Chris fell hard and fast for Ella and how he was so protective of her. It was great to see old characters and be part of their lives again.

The details put in to the cold case investigation were amazing and very realistic (from my POV of never taken part in one before! ) I loved the whole deduction and sifting through information, bring methodical and thorougher. Having met Chris in the previous series it was nice to get a closer personal look at him and see how he’s grown and managed to turn his life around. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series,

Loved it

I love that we're reading the stories of the next generation. Tanner's son Chris hated growing up in his father's shadow and did his best to be nothing like him. He married young, had a daughter and ended up divorced when his alcoholism became out of control. He's been sober for seven years and has worked hard to put his life back on track. He has a chance at a new job and his first assignment is to solve a cold case murder. Ella is a journalist who is tired of working on fluff pieces but her boss Galen won't give her a chance. Then she ends up helping Chris on his murder case and a lot of facts come to light. Their story has twists and turns and an unexpected ending. Excellent reading.

Olivia Jaymes does it again! Such a fantastic book. I wasn't sure about reading this, because it was apparent to me that since Chris, the Hero, was getting a book that something had happened to his marriage even though in his father's book, they seemed so happy. All that being said, this one grabbed me and had me on the edge of my seat and could NOT put it down. Love seeing some of the characters from the other books, too. The Heroine, Ella, was a bit hard to like at first, but man did I end up loving her. The ending totally had a twist I was NOT expecting. The whole series is a must read, but you can be safe in reading this as a stand alone.

3.5 stars. This is the first book in a spinoff/loosely connected series to the Cowboy Justice Association series which I highly recommend reading first. Chris is the son of one of the cowboy lawmen in that series and while employed in the family business so to speak, he hopes to step out of his father's long shadow. Ella is a local journalist who happens to look a lot like the missing person in Chris' case. Sensing a big story but soon discovering it is far more personal than she ever could imagine, they team up on the case. As they get closer to solving the murder, things heat up between the and a murderer hiding in plain sight. In true Cowboy Justice fashion he gets his man and the girl.

I have been waiting, forever it seems like for Chris's story. I am so happy, we got to see him, grown up and investing a murder and see how he turned out... I loved Chris. Chris and Ella are so cute together, she is a reporter helping him. Sparks fly, and so does danger. I love how the story unfolded between them. I also love seeing Chris with his daughter....

As much as I enjoyed this book, it felt like it was missing something. Not sure what, but overall a great read!

Another great book. Olivia Jaymes always write very exciting and suspenseful books. I was happy to read about Chris and see that he straightened out his life. I am curious to see how Knox's life turns out and if he and Chris keep working together. Highly recommend this book as well as any of her other Cowboy Justice Association books.

This book was so good. I really enjoyed the character development of Chris - he had come a long way since Tanner's book.

The introduction of the other characters - Brew and Ryan was good, totally want to know more about Knox - I always thought he was interesting.

Really good book. I really liked how their relationship progressed from colleagues and friends to lovers, it was natural and sweet. They each are vulnerable with each other and I liked that kind of thing

Hard and fast or soft and slow? Ladies choice!

Chris is a gent with just enough bad boy to make you swoon, like his Dad Tanner Marks, he steals your heart before you have finished the first chapter! He meets his match in Ella, where he is serious she is sassy, he is quietly confident and she is upfront and bold, he assesses and studies whilst she leaps before she looks. They compliment each other perfectly and Chris quickly finds he has lost his heart to the beautiful, inquisitive journalist...but can he keep her safe long enough to gain her heart in return?
This is an explosive start to this spin off series which is just as fast paced and twisted as the Cowboy Justice and Danger Inc series before it. I love that this is based in the famous JLJ with Logan, Jarod and Jason and the little peaks of wisdom from Tanner too! A great start and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
