To the unassuming observer, Ben Lockwood is your typical, suburban dad. Aside from the fact that he’s only thirty-six and his daughter is a sophomore in college. He and his wife, Jessica, had their only daughter, Hailey, when they were in high school. So you can imagine the unease Ben is feeling when said daughter brings her new boyfriend home for Thanksgiving… To stay, in their house, for the whole weekend.
Ryan Harper, otherwise known as The Boyfriend, is every dread Ben’s ever had in his daughter dating come to fruition. There’s nothing wrong with Ryan. He’s polite, smart, and charming… He doesn’t have any neck tattoos or facial piercings, and he drives a BMW. But still, he’s dating Ben’s daughter. That makes him a threat.
It’s in Ben’s best interest to keep an eye on the kid. You know, to make sure there’s no funny business going on under his roof. Unfortunately for him, the tension in the house is less about Ryan being his daughter’s boyfriend, and more about him being a strangely intriguing human.
And soon enough, Ben can’t tell if he’s watching Ryan to protect his daughter’s innocence, or obliterate his own. It seems like the boring married-guy image isn’t going to hold up for long… Not after this bizarre, life-changing weekend.
What are these new, strange feelings and desires? Where did they come from? And why do they have to center around what belongs to his daughter?
Ben and Ryan’s situation couldn’t get much more complicated… Until Jessica steps into the mix.
An unexpected push is all it took for their lives to change forever.
***PUSH by Nyla K is a label-free HEA love story. It contains infidelity triggers, which do work themselves out, so I urge you to give it a shot. MM turns to MMF, in a very steamy, explicit romance that will make you laugh, maybe cry, and definitely swoon. The theme of love is love is key here, so there aren’t many defining, or coming out moments. That being said, this book does explore male-male bisexuality, pansexuality and polyamory, but in a very casual, unassuming way. If MM and MMF are not your cup of tea, then steer clear. However, if you’re looking for an open-minded tale of taboo and forbidden romance that ultimately works out for its characters, then this book is for you!***
Author of Flipping Hot Fiction. I write big books and I cannot lie, *insert smirky face*. Specializing in LGBTQ+ representation.
Nyla K is a quirky world-traveler with a sailor mouth and a filthy mind. She writes the dark, and the dirty, but most importantly, UNIQUE romantic fiction. Her smutty and taboo love stories are not for the faint of heart, so beware!
Nyla believes in the relevant, boundary-pushing, mind-bending side of erotic fiction, which is always what to expect from her. If you're looking for the same old story, you won't get that with Nyla K. But if you want complex characters, and stories that stick in your mind like a bad case of crabs... you've come to the right place ;).
Push is a taboo fest which will either make you rejoice or cringe. This book kind of incinerated my panties while I read on in shocked horror. Honestly, I am a lover of authors that push boundaries and pull it off. Apart from the solid smut, this was well written with all the emotions you would expect if one was questioning their sexuality or loyalties. But to be brutal, this book was far too long in my opinion. Whether it’s because I’m impatient to get to the good parts or the writing isn’t strong enough to hold my attention, I was forced to skim on occasion.
This author makes no secret of triggers, but this may be a no go zone for some readers if the following offends:
♠️ Cheating ♠️ Not just cheating, this is cheating with the daughter’s boyfriend. BTW I'm talking about the dad. ♠️ Straight men trying m/m loving for the first time ♠️Oh, and the wife getting in on the action, cos why not. ♠️ Sex, sex, and did I mention hot sex?
Ben is your suburban dad who loves his wife and daughter. So why would he cheat when his life is good? Although here's the thing, Ben and his wife had their daughter while still in high school and they successfully made it as a couple. Alas, I believe its human nature to wonder what might have been if the path had been different. Even though most don't pursue it further than that, sometimes you get blindsided. Which is what happened when Ben's daughter brought her boyfriend Ryan home for Thanksgiving.
Our eyes locked, and I could see how turned on he was; the passion, lust, and forbidden desire just from being able to please me.
Jesus Christ… What the fuck am I doing?
This is so bad… But so good.
It feels so fucking good.
But it’s wrong. My daughter’s boyfriend is giving me head.
Holy fuck… I’m gonna come.
Somehow this family gathering turned into a fuckfest between two unlikely people. Considering Ben and Ryan knew how bad this scenario was, the guilt wasn't enough to override the pleasure. To a point that neither could chalk it up to just a fling.
"I was fearing that I wouldn’t be able to just sweep this indiscretion under the rug. This feeling was too good not to have all the time."
Yes, actions have consequences, but in this instance, not how you'd imagine. I can assure you that this story has a HEA and that Ben’s wife Jessica comes to the rescue. At times, love does make exceptions.
Just when you think you’ve seen everything and then you stumble on a book like this 🥴
First and foremost, this isn’t going to be a favorable review. I mean no disrespect when writing my thoughts here I’m merely sharing how I felt when reading it. I know not everyone will agree with me and there WILL be many readers who adore this one. However, it wasn’t for me… In any way. Take my review with a grain of salt, read it if I’ve left you curious, and just know that while I did love some aspect about this book (especially the underlying premise) so much of it just didn’t work for me personally.

PUSH is an erotic MFM romance. It’s about a man who ends up having his first mm experience with his DAUGHTERS BOYFRIEND while they are visiting for Thanksgiving. Eventually, these two become a thruple when the wife joins in and they live happily every after. The journey is hard, but everything seems to come together perfectly for each of them; by them I mean the husband, his wife, and his daughters now ex-boyfriend. There is an age gap theme going on here (about 17 years separate the couple) and there IS CHEATING. Apparently no one in the story cares though so why should readers? 🤷♀ That’s the gist of the story. I’ll go on to explain the parts I liked and what became problematic for me…
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞
📝 The main message of the story is that LOVE IS LOVE and it shouldn’t matter what that package looks like. Man/Man, Women/Man/Man, etc. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement that love is love and everyone should experience it however they see fit.
📝 The sex scenes were EPIC and HOT. It doesn’t matter if you like or connect with the story as a whole because you are bound to feel something when these scenes come.. 🔥
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞
📝 One thing I hated about this book was the narrative. The author wrote these characters like they were chicks and not the badass men they were described as. Throughout the novel these seemingly alpha males would “giggle” and say the weirdest things you would never imagine coming out of a male’s mouth. It was quite uncomfortable to be honest. Had I not been intrigued with the storyline and where it might have gone, I probably would have stopped reading after the first few chapters.
📝 This book was completely unbelievable. I get it, this is fiction and its written to get readers all amped up but there was not a single thing in here that wasn’t farfetched. Everything was too perfect. “Oh, first time sleeping with a man and I decide to come on to my girlfriends’ father who is also straight, and he lets me give him a BJ. Of course, he does it back.” Or “sorry wife I know I’ve been lying and cheating on you with our daughters BF but I couldn’t help myself. SHE: It’s okay, I want to join”. 😯 🤔 Things like this went on throughout the book (and don’t forget their daughter was fine with it too) and it just felt irritating and strange.
📝 The main story revolved around Ben and Ryan and their bi-awakening I guess you could call it. However, towards the last 40 or so percent Ben’s wife decided to join. That’s, fine right? Well, it WOULD have been if these two didn’t act like she was second priority. If you’re going to write about a thruple, make it seem like EVERYONE is loved. Don’t put someone second….
📝 FINALLY, the book was TOO LONG for the subject matter. This is an erotic novel. Most of the scenes are sex scenes (which is FINE) but it lost its focus on the real story (the loving oneself and love being love). The whole concept is lost because of the length and the time taken away from the actual relationships because of all the sex.

This book was clearly not my cup of tea. However, I think readers who are curious should give it a try. I personally wouldn’t recommend it but I can see others wanting a sample to see if it’s a fit for them or not. Now, will I totally write this author off? NO! Absolutely not. I'm going to read her most recent release to see if I jive with her writing of if she's simply not an author for me. 🙂 I won't write an author off unless I get a few books in because not all books are for everyone!
A MMF story that will either make you cringe or swoon!! I totally swooned for Ben, Ryan & Jessica!!
I've been trying to write a review for Push for two days and I just can't get the words to come out right. Every time I think I have the right words to describe my feelings for this book I hit the delete button repeatedly.
This was my first Nyla K. book, so I had no idea what I was getting into especially when it is right over 500 pages. Ryan and Ben stole my heart from their first encounter in the basement and the further I got into the story the better it got. Ben loved Ryan so much even though his love for Jessica was still very present. The anxiety I had reading this book was INTENSE!! Too many times I started freaking out that the ending wasn't going to go the way I wanted it to go. Even right up until the end my heart was breaking for the loss that everyone was feeling.
Honestly, I don't have any complaints for this story, but I will say that Ryan and Bens love felt so much MORE than the love Jess shared with them. Not that I didn't like her because I did but it felt sort of out of place at moments like she was more tossed in at the last minute. Not sure if that makes sense.
This book seriously took a piece out of me and I was not expecting that at all, I think it was the angst leading up to the ending where my heart was in my stomach. I really did like this story though, a beautiful and untraditional love story for the ages. If taboo stories don't bother you and you can get behind a MMF story, then you should read this one.
Ugh this book rubbed me the wrong way on so many levels I don’t even want to speak about it. Ben was an asshole in all aspects, Jess was spineless and just went with the flow, and Ryan was an asshole too for sleeping with his girlfriends married dad. WTF. I didn’t feel any remorse from Ben for cheating and when Jess found out all was forgiven within minutes and they begin a 3 way relationship and to be honest I felt more of a connection between Ben and Ryan than I did with Ben and Jess and that is his wife of 19 years! He straight up said in his inner thoughts that Ryan was the best sex he had like hello what about your wife. Ben still messed around without Jess but then would get upset if Ryan and Jess messed around without him ummm hypocrite much. It was always Ryan and Ben calling and missing each other. You very rarely heard about Ryan missing and calling Jess. She was just an afterthought. Sleeping in the bed Ryan was always next to Ben. Why couldn’t Jess be in the middle of them. This was literally the Ben and Ryan show with a tiny guest appearance from Jess. Even when Ryan left it was Ben who went after him. Why couldn’t Jess come to try and get him back huh!? The author would have you believe that they all loved and wanted to be with each other. Sorry but that was not the case!! I don’t think she executed the whole MMF genre correctly. I want to finish a story feeling like they all equally loved and cared for each other and you do not get one here. I seriously don’t see how Jess was ok with any of this. I would have left his ass and never turned back.
Edit: I tried again but it was fruitless. I just read a book that was almost 500 pages and it felt like nothing, this had felt like eternity. And not also eternity but torture. Jessica didn’t speak, she squealed or squeaked 36 times. Ryan, Jessica, and Ben didn’t call each other by their names, they called each other baby 300 times. And they never said yes, the said yea 101 times. I can’t. And for 500 pages it seems like 300 of those are dedicated to sex, which gets old when it’s almost every chapter. I would’ve liked this a lot more if it was a novella and 100 pages. And I NEVER want to hear squeal, squeak, baby, or YEA again.
Okay I’m not dnfing this for the reason you might think I am. It was just too much sex for me. I got bored and wanted it to end. Also it was sooo repetitive. I don’t know how many times I saw fiend and yea, if I never have to see yea again I’ll die happy. Also the pet names where so obnoxious; baby this babe that sweetness here and it was in almost every line of dialogue. It started to feel disingenuous. But that’s not say I didn’t like this. I liked how there was a cheating aspect in the beginning (hot af) and the story was pretty engaging. The sex was hawt as hell. Not going to lie when Ben and Jess or Ryan and Jess had sex it didn’t do much, maybe because pussy and juices getting on someone’s balls isn’t very sexy. But I digress it was still smoking and not like most mff books I’ve read ( or haven’t read)
WHAT TO SAY, WHAT TO SAY???? This was well written and HOT even if it was incredibly long without needing to be. Everyone involved had fantastic chemistry with each other which is great because I would not have stuck around for this much sex if they didn’t! Ryan was my favorite character by a landslide. He was so sweet and earnest in his feelings and his vulnerability was palpable. I just adored him. There was definitely an emphasis on Ryan and Ben’s relationship with each other but I don’t believe this made Jessica’s relationship with each man seem less important at all. It was clear they both adored her and she adored them. We were also more privy to their inner thoughts and feelings too because we got both of their POVs but not Jessica’s POV until the epilogue. I really enjoyed this book because there were so many interesting elements that I personally haven’t read many books about. I was so curious about how it would all play out. I loved figuring out how this new dynamic would work for Jess, Ben and Ryan right alongside them. Everyone was learning and working it out, together. There’s something fascinating about watching a character discover something completely new to them. It’s why I read so many sexuality discovery stories. I’m uncovering a new world right alongside the character, with all of the confusion, pain and joy that comes with that. I was also super intrigued at how each character would deal with any possible jealousy or insecurity within this new relationship and I’m glad that they communicated eventually in between all of the horizontal tangoing… Overall, I think I would have enjoyed this much more had it been shorter. It dragged. Ohhhhh how it dragged. I was so bored, you guys. I can’t skim for the life of me out of fear of missing anything. I also don’t have the attention span to focus on audio books. Oh the reading burdens I bear! I really don’t have any other complaints other than that. So all in all, it was fun! And genuinely one of the hottest books I have ever read. I am still in awe. I cannot stress enough how well written and how hot it was so I shall say it once more! Good grief. I’m still sweating. I am also still amused at how many times the words huffed, squealed and squeaked were used. Baby was said a million times too. 😂😂
This book was 🔥🔥 and really enjoyable to read. This wasn’t at all your typical MMF book. Their was passion, entertainment and steam. Going into this book I was already super intrigued from the synopsis or blurb and I couldn’t wait to read it. Then the cover was revealed and I definitely knew I had to read this book. Finally, I got to read it and I didn’t want to put the book down! It caught my interest since page one. Ryan and Ben were just.. wow together!! Their chemistry was off the charts, as well as their characters were just great. Ryan was just a sweetheart and very hot. Ben was the hot “younger” dad and husband. Who knew that Ben would go from disliking Ryan before he even met him to so much more. Overall this was a quick read due to it just being a page turner! I can’t wait to see what else Nyla writes in the future.
Loved this story!!! This was my first ever MMF and because of how well written and developed this story was, it will not be my last. I fully enjoyed the chemistry between all main characters and how they were able to bring about a balance with one another that was natural and entirely necessary.
This was a romance that brought about new explorations for all main characters and I enjoyed their amazing chemistry. Overall this was a fun streamy read that has me excited for more.
i will start asking this... am i the only one who thinks that only Ryan and Ben should be together ??
i felt so much love between them, and i loved how they were attracted to each others, how they fall in love etc... and then when Jess joined was hot, i didn't mind but then i felt like it was forced, i mean, she and Ryan just "fell " for each other but without me feeling it, i don't know if you know what i mean... and going on with the reading i still felt like it was wrong and i felt like she was a third wheel ,in a few words Ryan and Ben's love it's so much stronger and sweet and powerful ... and i started to don't like Jess with them anymore...
For that reason i give this book 3 stars, and the second reason is because it was to long...usually i don't mind, the longer the better, but only when there is actual content and things needed to be solved etc, here was full of sex, which again i don't mind, but it was way to much, and toke a lot of pages....
The story anyway was really good, and even if it wasn't like i wanted it to be, it was still a cool read
the smut was really good but the dialogue and some of the writing was corny as hell especially the dirty talk? omg the dirty talk was literally the bare minimum but like i said the smut was good
This story is Hot. Be warned there are some triggers. Cheating and I mean a husband who cheats on his wife with another man, His daughter's boyfriend. Then the wife joins in. So if you're sensitive, then Push is not for you. I personally loved this book.
Ben and Jessica, High school sweethearts, married with one daughter. The daughter brings home Ryan during Thanksgiving break to meet her parents. Ben is less than thrilled and keeps a close eye on him. One night it all changes, and they can't go back. They try to stay there distance from each other.
Ben has always done what was expected for him. However, he never did anything for himself. Until now Feeling guilty and trying to deal with sexuality and feelings for another man. Push is a complete roller coaster of a ride.
Nayla K can write a sizzling sex scene. I like her writing style. If you can take away one thing from this book, I would say that love is love and does not see gender. My only concern is the book chapters would have been broken up little more. The length of the books never bothered me, as long as it was fabulous. I just feel with long chapters in Push seemed it took longer than expected.
If you like forbidden love, polyamorous relationships, this book is for you.
I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU: One of my FAVORITE romances EVER *read on KU. No need of sugar daddies called promo teams* or 𝐁𝐄𝐍. 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡. 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐤𝐞. 𝐆𝐚𝐠. LOL
What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible) Ben Lockwood is your typical dad. Only he is very young. And hot. Ryan Harper is his daughter's boyfriend. And he's a good one. There's nothing wrong with him other than the fact that he's too hot for his own good. Ben watches out for his daughter; but in whose interest? His own or hers? He watches his daughter's boyfriend a little too closely. Soon, lines are crossed. And then Jessica enters the picture.
This was my first Nyla K. read. I've been seeing this cover all around bookstagram, so I had to hop on it real quick. Damn, this was a emotional and very STEAMY, SUPER HOT type of read. I'm so grateful I picked up! I felt everything while reading. The first half or so was very MM and I'm new to that, but I found it very interesting. The chemistry was INTENSE. I had a problem with the women in the first half; they didn't feel that whole as characters up until later when we saw more of their personalities unfold. I personally like Ryan more than Ben. I empathized with Ben SO BLOODY MUCH. BEN CAN BE SO MEAN and I CAN'T HAVE THAT! I'm rooting for my boo Ryan. My heart broke for him. He opened up as the book went on and I just couldn't deal at times. I loved him! Ryan and Ben were cute together although they very also very VERYYYYY ANGSTY. A lil intrigue never hurt anybody! Jess turned out to be a real one in the end although she seemed like a blank canvas at the start which I didn't like. I ended up adoring her in the end. There were tons of amusing characters in this book and there were very scandalous, uncomfortable but also hilarious moments in the story! While the first half was good, the second half just made me go WOW. It truly won me over then. I was lost in this world. This read was fast-paced, full of sex BUT it balanced it so well with emotion and consequences. The author did an incredible job with this book. The intimacy levels in this book are on FLEEK. I screeched at chapter 18 - I felt for Ryan in that chap because we've all been there. He was so relatable. I have a thing for hurt characters like him. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys their romance 'label-free' as the author describes this book, INCREDIBLY emotional and SCORCHING HOT.
ORIGINAL COMMENT: Oh shit this was intense! What an emotional rollercoaster. Perfect balance of erotic and sentimental moments. Ryan my boo!!!!!! Love him. Although Jess seemed like a blank slate for them to project their fantasies upon at first, it turned around real quick in the latter part of the book where her role in the relationship became clearer. DAYUM. Dayum. I CANNOT.
That wasn't what I expected at all, it was a superbly realised examination of the complexity of lust and love.
It's also a no holds bared look at how complicated being in a throuple can be, as feelings get bashed and churned up with passion.
Ben was an utter **** for a lot of the book, but I also completely empathised with him. He's been rocked by feelings he'd never expected, a chemical attraction that he fights at first.
Ryan is a sweetheart, but also a bit of a pushover at times, I liked that he did grow a backbone and make a hard decision to put himself first, even when it was tearing him up.
Jessica was a fascinating woman, I felt I could totally buy into her reaction and her method of dealing with what was going on.
The sub-plot which I won't spoil, wasnt particularly my kind of ideal, but it fit within the narrative and worked for the three of them.
The sex is insanely hot, no matter what way round they go at it, each of them brings something to the relationship.
I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed this one as MMF isn't usually my thing.
Ok, I’ll preface this with some honesty. I stopped reading MF romance a few years ago, and I almost exclusively read MM+ romance. I’m not going to go into a lengthy diatribe about why (again) - it just is what I prefer to read. So the only time now that I read MF is if it’s MMF, written either by an author I know has done a great job at it before, or it’s in a MM series I’ve loved and I have to read it for continuity. Both of these are true this time, because I read and loved “Joyless” by Nyla K, (an MMF that’s a part of her Alabaster Penitentiary series), so I thought I’d try this one.
It didn’t really work for me. I loved the MM bits, but the MF/MMF bits made me squirmy (not in a good way). I found myself skimming large sections, trying to get back to the MM parts. It wasn’t the taboo(ish) bits of it (I say “ish” because sleeping with your daughter’s boyfriend isn’t my idea of taboo) - I read “Double-Edged” and received hate for a glowing 5 star review. I definitely think the author has grown and improved her amazing writing skills between now & this book’s publication.
Please remember that this is my perspective, and you, as a different reader, may really enjoy it. Particularly if you love MF/poly romance including females. So give it a go.
Check out my reviews and MM content on Instagram, Facebook, and Bookbub, all under the same name!
God , I am so addicted to MM now because of this author. The MMF aspect really pulled me in and don't even ask about the angst. This book had it all and I couldn't devour it fast enough! I last read TO BURN IN BRUTAL RAPTURE by this author and knew that I had go read everything by her. So I picked this one. And it was so amazing!
The ending was shocker and I went blind into this one so all the emotions hit me at once and that was the best feeling. i suggest you do the same !! These characters are amazing and I so want to read more like this author. Her books have this amazing level of angst that I can't enough of. Its simply addictive.
I would highly recommend this one to all the MMF loving people. This book was mot dark but more like a very angsty contemporary romance. Loved it sooo much!!
This book was hoooot. I definitely didn't read it for the plot which I didn't even enjoy the little it had.
While I like Jess, I didn't think the relationship fell into place like the author wanted it to. I was left feeling like Ben was just too scared for the big chance. Oh yes, it was hot when Jess was there but when it was Ben and Nick? it was -at the risk of being redundant-sizzling.
Oh yeah, this was all smut. Well written smut too!
Ryan, is a law student on thanksgiving break. He takes a trip with his girlfriend, Hailey, to her parents house for the weekend. There, Ryan meets young and fit Ben and Jessica (whom is Haileys parents). I can’t say much more without giving everything away.
I was just wanting more plot so it fell flat for me after 50%. Didn’t even care to read the rest.
I was immediately sucked into this forbidden romance and didn’t want to leave their world!! I don’t know who I loved more Ryan or Ben. But put them together and DAMN 🔥🥵🔥 I completely understand why Jess was on board.
There are so many things within this story that society says should be shunned upon and I should be upset about…yet I was overjoyed to read it!! The initial way Ben and Ryan came together was so illicit. Multiple secret trysts while both Jessica and Hailey were sleeping or away from the house. Ben cheating on his wife with a man, his daughters current boyfriend, shouldn’t have seemed so desirable.
Then the denial of feelings and heartbreaks that ensued, the rebellions through sexcapades, and the running away all added to the angst. By the time the story was over I was emotionally wrung out and yet dying for more. This trio had the best ending with a true happily ever after. Honestly all this was possible due to the love, compassion, and understanding of Jessica. She was the glue that held everything together.
This is a “taboo” book that isn’t taboo at all. It was disappointing. The writing was simplistic and choppy. The whole scenario would have been hot if it had been written well or even the tiniest bit believable. Spit for lube for a first time? Really? I don’t think this author is versed in MM pairings at all.
Ben acted like a teenager and he was cocky and rude. Ryan seemed to have a lot of daddy issues. Jessica was okay.
I suppose if you think a married heterosexual couple who then adds a third adult into the mix is your idea of taboo, then you might enjoy this. I’ve read so many MMF books that have been done well. This was definitely not one of them.
3.5⭐️ don’t know how to rate it. The writing was extremely enjoyable and the longing between Ben and Ryan was amazing. Their feelings for each other felt so real. Holy shit. My problem was when Jesse his wife came into it. The threesome was believable but the love? That felt like a big lie. Ryan was not nearly so much into her as he was into Ben. Not even close, it was all Ben, Ben, Ben… And she wanted Ryan not that much as she wanted her husband (she said „After all we still have us“ that doesn’t sound like love, does it?) And they were married for 19 years, I always felt for Ryan to be replaceable. And in real life - if they would be really so happy as a married couple as they claimed to be- it would be the truth. The whole story was about Ryan and Ben, she was like, I don’t know… it doesn’t fit into the whole story. It would be more realistic if it ended in a heartbreak for Ryan and Ben cause Ben wouldn’t leave his wife or he had to break up with his wife. Don’t get me wrong I like stories with sharing and poly relationships but this was extremely unbalanced because it felt like a lovestory between two man and the women was the side note (unfortunately because she was a real open minded and likeable woman). Nah I don’t know… ok I had a nice time, so I will round it up. Although for me it’s a love story between two men.
I don't care what ANYONE says like I actually don't give a shit, this book was FANTASTIC !! I loved EVERY single second of this book and have reread so many of these scenes at least 5 times in the last 24 hours.
Let's start with Ben and Ryan's cheating...I don't condone it. I'll leave it at that because it got me my favourite relationship that I've read in the last month.
Jess....sweetie you deserve better. I don't know about you but I would've left Ben 🤷🏽♀️ anyone can see that Ben was basically more in love with Ryan than he was with Jess. She was his best friend they had gotten used to each other, the love Ben has for Jess is not the same.
And let me tell you now it is extremely obvious to ANYONE that Jess didn't love Ryan the way she said she did she was in lust. She loved Ben and didn't want to lose him so chose to say she loved Ryan and she did but she wasn't IN love with him and the same applies to Ryan as well he wasn't IN love with Jess.
I loved this book so much though
Edit: you ever reread a book and realise how poorly written it is and want to kill yourself afterwards yeah this was me.
Rounding up to 3 stars is generous of me! I wanted MM, and I got a pitiful throuple situation. I can't with Ben! He is actually so selfish. He was always jealous of his wife with Ryan. He wants his cake and to eat it too. He folded SO quickly for Ryan. He loves his daughter so much, but the second his daughter's boyfriend came around, he was toast. The spice was spicy 🔥 You just have to ignore all the cringey parts and the overuse of "baby" The pregnancy trope is a hard pass for me as well. I LOVED For the Fans and wanted a good MM. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations.
3 ⭐️ 5+🌶 After reading and completely loving “For the Fans” also by Nyla K. I had huge expectations for this book. However, I was disappointed to realize this wasn't nearly close to what I was expecting it to be.
I didn’t go in blind; the author doesn’t hide the trigger warnings and nor do lots of the reviews I read prior to picking this up, I have also read books with the same trope (bf/gf falls in love with their partner’s parent), cheating, and rather large age gaps such as Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas, so I thought I knew what I was getting myself into. However, the second two of the three main love interests were together, I knew I wouldn’t be able to shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
This book tells us the story of Ryan, a college boy who goes to his girlfriend's house for thanksgiving and ends up sleeping with his girl’s dad (Ben). After the rather morbid first encounter, these two keep going back and forth between being together and feeling guilty until one day, Jessica (Ben’s wife) finds out and instead of being mad, she decides to join them.
My issues with this book are mainly related to the way everything started between the two male characters and how the situation evolved once Jessica found out. We are not even 15% into the book, Ryan and Ben, both straight men who love their respective partners had barely talked and only knew each other for a day, but out of nowhere Ryan decided that after seeing Ben and Jessica together, he’s into Ben and immediately goes to him and gives him head??? And Ben lets him??? I found this to be extremely unreal and not justified by any possible hints given prior to the encounter.
Another element of the plot that left a lot to desire was the way Jessica reacted after realizing her husband had cheated on her with their daughter’s ex. Yes, she got mad, yes she took some distance, but just how like Ben and Ryan started, we never had any clue or hint that would imply she was also into Ryan and would decide to join them and become a throuple. Jessica and Ryan’s relationship was all tell no show, instead of hinting how they had this great connection that made them be synced up and attuned to each other, they straight up tell us, textually explaining how they were connected, it made it seem like a detail that was only included last time in order to make the choice of throwing Jessica into the mix more believable. The foundations of their relationship seemed shaky, it felt like everything had to happen for the sake of the plot, when in reality, for it to feel natural, there had to be a real connection between the characters.
On the other hand, despite the lack of arguments that would justify why these characters feel attracted, their chemistry when they are in bed is off the charts. I love me some good smut, and this book delivered, it is on the limit of being too much, the spicy scenes were very descriptive and abundant, so much so that I was having a hard time reading all the details, and in the end I ended up skimming over a couple of them.
Overall I would recommend this book to people that want to read a lot of smut, want a heavy dose of forbidden romance and don’t necessarily seek a well developed plot. The storyline is complicated, the author built and clearly detailed it, but a lot of the character’s actions and feelings seem to come from nowhere, which leads their interactions to feel forced, so I wouldn't say that the plot is the strong point of this book.
This was very interesting and not in the way that you might think. This book is more like a manual for discovering my thought patterns.
The first part (approx 40%) is MM and it's HAWT. It's 🖤Taboo romance 🖤age gap (~15 years) 🖤Bi awakening 🖤Gf's dad
And it's everything you want it to be. I just wish it stayed there. And it's not that I don't like MMF romance. I adore it. One of the best reads of this year is a MMFMM, and it was f'ing amazing. So something else is going on here. It's not Nyla's writing either, because I eat that sht UP and need seconds like rn. I really think that for me personally it's about how the romance starts and how the poly bit develops. Like, Ben and Ryan were 🌶️🤌🌶️🤌🌶️ and Jess was kinda thrown in there. I don't feel there was tension, and the reverse awakening, when the men found they also still were into women was very bla, like whatever-whatever. So yeah, love is love is great, but for me this did not work in the long run. Also, the anxiety this book made me feel in the beginning was REAL, and then once she found out, it was like. Well then, glad we can all move on from this, but then it was like all the tension was gone. I don't know guys, you should have just gone gay and stayed there. ⭐⭐.5 and 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.

In the world of taboo reads, this one pops up a lot. I figured I'd jump in and see what the buzz is about.
The introduction to the collision was hot and continued to be so at least throughout half of the book.
The longer I read, the longer I started to feel like this is like a story about Ben. Most of the plotline revolved around this character which gave him the most depth (something I can appreciate).
Playing second fiddle here is Ryan. I enjoyed watching their relationship and the push and pull...the self-imposed angst from his counterpart (if any of you know me, this is not my fav).
but alas...we have a third fiddle in the mix and like others have mentioned...you almost miss the sound of her tune.
How then, shall I rate this? I cannot solely rate this on the sex alone because this book took way longer than I think it should have (some parts of the plot could have been omitted, truly, without hindering the story itself).
Would I recommend it? sure, if the reader was asking for these specific elements (and hey, lots of readers enjoy self-imposed angst).
*i think I've come to the decision to rate this book a 3.5/3.75*
