Deputy Sergio Desoto made a deathbed promise to his brother to always look after his wife, Salome — or Sal, as the whole Desert Springs police department affectionately calls her. Everybody loves Sal, including Sergio who has secretly been in love with her for years, though his honor and integrity have never allowed him to pursue her.
He despairs of ever being able to keep the lovely nurse safe from a vengeful drug cartel that will stop at nothing in their quest to turn him into a dirty cop on their payroll. So he comes up with a plan to send Sal and his six-year-old son into hiding until he can resolve the escalating threats to their lives once and for all.
But Sal has other ideas. She's proud to be a Desoto, and she doesn't believe running is the answer. If she refuses to go into hiding, however, Sergio will have to deal with something far more daunting than the crosshairs of a hitman. He’ll finally have to face his feelings for her!
Looking for a Christmas in July read? Lawfully Courageous may be just what you are looking for. It is really a short story, part of The Lawkeepers series. Since it is a short story, things move fast but a backstory is included in the introduction which makes the fast moving romance more understandable. While there is no church attendance and the wedding takes place at the courthouse, there does seem to be some reliance on God by Sergio. Jo Grafford has written a story that shows the influence drug cartels can have and the extremes they will go to get their way. Lawfully Courageous is the first story of The Lawkeepers series I have read. There does seem to be some character overlap with other titles, but I think Lawfully Courageous can be read as a stand alone. I think I would enjoy reading others in the series. Potential Area for Concern The phrase mon dios is used several times in the story which is loosely translated My God. This may be offensive to some audiences. While I think that high school students may enjoy this adult clean romance, it is not available in paperback which would make it difficult to place it in a k-12 Christian school library. Lawfully Courageous is available on Jo Grafford’s website. This is my honest review.
Lawfully Courageous is the story of a police officer who is willing to give up guardianship of his son in order to protect him. Salome, his brother's widow, is willing to look after Davy and keep him safe but what will that require? This novella doesn't go as Sergio plans! I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Found this on my kindle, no idea where I got it :)
I was half way through before I realised we weren't in the wild west with cowboys, and long frocks. (no cover image on my copy) It was like one of those stuttering to a stop scenes in movies where it all changed and started to wind back up to normal speed but in modern clothing.
A short read that pulls you in from the beginning. Great characters that had me hoping for their happiness. Great action and plot that played out to boast a wonderful story! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Great quick story. I read this in one sitting. It was intriging. Loved that Sal didn't sit back and let her man take care of things. If you want a quick clean story you can't go wrong with Lawfully Courageous.
This story was very short but packed with a lot of romance and suspense. There was some faith in God in there, too. I loved it. It was well worth the dollar I paid.
Love comes. Sometimes you need to wait for it. An incredible law officer had lost everyone but his son. He was being watched by the cartel. He was going to give his son another life, hone, and protect him by living far away. But God had other plans! His prayers were answered surprisingly
Enjoyed this story. It has an excellent story line with interesting characters, romance, bravery, evil and even some humor. Jo Grafford ties all these together for an enjoyable story.
This picks up where Lawfully Brave left off. This is the story of Sherrif Henderson trying to keep the 2 most important people in his life safe from warring cartels.
For a short story it was really good. It has a little bit of everything in it and held my attention.. I would recommend you read Sergio and Sals story..
Just way too short., but exciting.. The characters were great but 40 to 50 pages doesn't really let you get to know them very well. This is a clean romance that was enjoyable.
A good, short story with some tense action! Was a bit shorter than I anticipated, (about 50% on my Kindle) but well worth the read.. I was given a free copy but this review is my opinion.
