SIZE MATTERS Futaba’s annoying senpai, Takeda, is a huge guy just like her scary stalker grandfather. This wouldn’t matter if people didn’t keep mistaking Futaba for Takeda’s daughter, or just generally for a child. What does a woman have to do to prove she’s a grown-up?!
Fluffy, empty calories, but I could pop these back all day long.
I do worry sometimes that the leading lady is infantilized so much and so often that it is going to seem pervy if big romantic developments ever do occur.
4.5 Stars. This entire volume only took me 55 minutes to finish. The series as a whole has been a very quick read so far and I'm loving it. The first few chapters are a little slow but they set up the rest of the volume nicely. With several laugh out loud moments and another Christmas party in the books I can't wait for volume 4.
Futaba and Takeda are still going at it. The seasons change but their inability to admit their feelings remains the same. Will the cold weather cool what tepid fires are burning or is it the perfect time for things to really heat up?
This is like the poor understudy of Teasing Master Takagi-san, chronicling the lives of two people who might admit they like one another eventually. Much less brinkmanship here, mind, just two people who are too dense or too stubborn to get on with it.
But it’s fun enough for what it is. I’ve gotten used to Futaba’s tsundere tendencies, which are admittedly softening (the chapters where she cooks for Takeda are very cute). Takeda is just a genuinely nice guy and it’s not his fault he treats Futaba like a kid when the author draws her like that.
And no mistake, there’s some worthwhile material here. There is a hilariously oblique joke about Your Name, which Futaba’s grandfather takes far too seriously. The punchline for that one lands perfectly.
I also rather like the one about being a video game wingman (I have similarly fond memories), though the game in that one is a missed opportunity for some really choice parody rather than generic thing we end up with.
There’s also a moment involving coffee that turns into probably my favourite slapstick bit in any manga this year. The timing and the outcome and very over-the-topness of the drawing is a genuine laugh out loud moment.
Throw in the quietly progressing secondary romance in the background - the train scene is quite adorable - and the fact that, as an added bonus, this is the rare manga release that’s fully in colour and you have an enjoyable little book.
This has never rocketed to the top of my reading pile and honestly never will, but it’s turned into a very solid performer over these last two volumes and I’ll happily keep up with the further adventures of these two.
Futuba is adorable. She's so tiny, yet wow, what a mouth! It's a good thing she has Harumi and her grandfather watching over her. In this volume, Futuba and Harumi continue to grow closer, as Futuba struggles to accept that she's developed feelings for her Senpai. On other fronts, Touko and Souta also are growing closer, and after teasing each other in flirtatious ways, they go on a date together. There's also a trip to the beach for the gang, including Futuba's cute, busty childhood friend, Natsumi. Also, Futuba spends the night at Harumi's place, after he had spent the night at hers. At Futuba's place, they stayed up all night playing video games. At Harumi's place, they stayed up all night watching movies. Futuba should just get over herself and realize she really likes her Senpai, and he should be more forward that he adores Futuba, just the way she is. I'm really enjoying this series. I look forward to the next volume.
I'm loving this series, but while the sweet moments between both potential couples keep on coming there still hasn't been any progress on either front. Normally, I wouldn't think anything of it considering we're only three volumes in...however, between the start volume one and the end of this one, over a year has already passed in the story. In Japan, they're up to volume 6 and I'm just wondering how many years are going to pass (in the story) before something actually happens between at least Futaba and Takeda. I'll continue reading because it's entertaining, but it seems like with this series "patience" is gonna be the name of the game.
I'm loving each turn of the page! The characters are all so sweet and adorable with each other, which has made it an easy read. I still can't get over how nice the art inside the volume is, the mixture of coloured panels and black and white really adds to the emotion of the scene. Can't wait to read more!
Still cute but integrating the Wotakoi itch I was hoping it would. I may try out some others before circling back to it (unless it winds up on one of my library apps, in which case I’ll just straight up binge the rest).
I love it love it love it!!! Just read it in one morning, but smile on my face was all time that I read it! And wishes from authour in the end was really pleasure! Can't wait to read next volume!
This manga is a cute workplace romance without being too in your face. You get to see the two characters go from friends, to co-workers, to eventually having crushes on each other. If you would like to read more, visit my website! https://www.thelifeofac.com/blog/qjsy...
