2.5 Stars This isn’t what I would call a rejected mate book. Brandon (21) loves Kitty (15) (Kitty loves him too) but never acts on it because she's underage. He’s kicked out of the crew (their word for pack) because his panther is alpha, and is pushing to challenge the current alpha… and his lion would kill Brandon. (alpha really likes Brandon) He leaves without saying goodbye, so this isn’t the “I reject you” scenario.
I also feel like this is a spinoff from another series. I never felt lost per se, but definitely felt like I was missing pieces that I should’ve known. The adults are discussed like we know them, but they are never on page. My guess is that these are the kids of the first series, and Brandon’s backstory was introduced in his parent’s book because it felt like the “conflict” started there.
It opens with Brandon leaving, and then FFW 6 years. It took me a bit to get into it, but it picked up around the 15% mark. I liked both mc’s; Kitty is pretty kick ass, and Brandon is coming into his own as an alpha. There’s a group of likeable “teammate” secondary characters. This isn’t YA; the characters don’t act immature… just a little green. (like making constant sex jokes and eating cupcakes) Brandon’s panther speaks like a toddler, but I think that’s supposed to illustrate that he’s broken. I’d call it early NA.
Bottom Line- 2.5 ⭐’s for me means that it was good-ish, but the writing (finished product) was solid and deserving of rounding up. BUT, if young-ish feeling new adult PNR isn’t your thing… you might not enjoy it. These are all fairly short, so I would suggest starting with the parent’s books. I think you’d be more invested, and enjoy this more. *safety- no OW/OM. Past experience (during the break) is not really discussed at all. It’s alluded that they were both with others, which shouldn’t matter because they were never a couple. With the breeze of the first coupling, I assume she’s not a virgin, and the condom in his wallet is quite old.
I loved previous series, but found the characters immature, and missing depth. The h was probably the best of them, she was fun and something special that she was hiding. Unfortunately, she soon became weak and wimpy, because of how much she lurrrved the H. He was Ok, but I didn't believe in his love for her, his pack came first and she was just a member.
The Good: I like the setup for this ‘verse and I enjoyed the initial UST between the MCs. The heat level is more sensual but their Firsts are pretty good and the mystery of what happened to Brandon’s friend in Farville kept the narrative right and moving right along. There’s a lot of backstory that these characters had to work through that also added to the overall emotional content and gave it some depth. The banter between this new crew was good and has potential to grow. Speaking of...
The Bad: I haven’t read the earlier Bad Blood series but I think I was almost more intrigued with that group. This feels very new adult, with an alpha who’s more fledgling than not. The emotional boneheaded moves were plentiful but never crossed over into truly annoying. All the characters felt like the youngins who were finally getting their turn, and I think I would have more affection for them all had I started with the earlier books.
The Bottom Line: However, all that said, I did still like them, I like the potential for more and I enjoyed the actual setup for more so I’ll check out the next ones.
Brandon’s Mate, the first story in the Wild Blood Shifters series is, to say the least, intense. Although this series is a next-generation spin-off from the Bad Blood Shifters series I wasn’t lost for any light background we need is given in the dialogue. I will go back to the previous series at some point, but I do not feel I must right now in order to enjoy this newer series.
Let’s be frank, Brandon is a mess when we meet him. He left his pack years ago or rather was asked to leave by his Alpha. Brandon was out of control then, he’s an alpha himself and was on the verge of an alpha challenge against a leader he liked, respected, but his panther was simply too alpha for him to remain. He left in the dead of night, not saying good-bye to his friends or to the young girl who had his heart. They were better off without him in his opinion and being kicked out of the Bad Bloods just proved that fact.
The years in between then and now were rough, and there were a few times when Brandon believed in a better future until that was also ripped away from him… only this time, death was the cause. Now he’s haunted by ghosts, actually, four ghosts who eye him with anger and accusations. He’s in this tiny town to get justice for those lost souls – and if he loses his own life in the process, at least no one else he cares for will… until the past comes crashing into the present in the form of Kitty, the girl he left behind.
Kitty isn’t a little girl anymore, devastated by her best friend, the man she dreamed of one day being with forever, leaving her behind. No. Today this Kitty is kick-butt and take names and loves with a fierceness that is undeniable. Kitty has a few secrets, she has prophetic dreams and her monster wolf is more often than not out of her control. She knows Brandon is in trouble and she, along with two friends, men who once considered Brandon a friend are on their way to step into chaos whether Brandon wants them there or not.
I was so easily drawn into this world. Brandon and Kitty are perfect for each other, even in their perceived imperfections. While I liked Brandon, even understood his reasons for his actions it was Kitty who stole my heart in this one. Kitty is adorable and fierce, gentle and deadly, funny and snarky – she’s the embodiment of a woman’s anger at her mate leaving her and the take names attitude of you need my help so shut up already. The danger that this crew is up against is deadly, as they’ve already proven. Yet, Brandon is determined to bring those responsible down – but there are a few surprises in store, ones that will fuel the rest of the series in some ways.
I had a blast here, and in some ways, it’s not a bad thing that I’m coming to this series a bit last – at least now I can binge-read my way through since so many titles are out already. If you love an intense romance with danger, snark, and sizzling chemistry then this story and series would be a perfect fit.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
WOW! What a series it will easily steal your heart. It's a powerful combination of secrets and excitement that's so full suspense and romance plus vengeance. It's a unique series! With stories that will bring a smile to your face with lots of emotions. The characters are awesome and their vengeance burns up the pages with it's chemistry. There are plenty feisty women who is so independent and some are not but it makes you cheer her on anyway. This series is a pleasurable experience that you will keep you on the edge of your seat. The stories are such a number of suspenseful vengeful and binge worthy that's great to read. Each one will make you turn every page until the end. I really enjoyed these characters they are so amazing and great together. When you add in the drama along with tons of emotions plus some intriguing twists and turns then you have a story that's full of feelings and so awesome. The couples aren't searching for mates, but their chemistry is so awesome that it turns into a great love. Even though some of the couples are estranged and some are not. but their bonds are still strong with each other. These relationships are loads of romance and heartache that all works out for good! Even the secondary characters are so extraordinary that it takes such imagination to make each book a beautiful story to read. This story is truly delightful and amazing with it's being violence and suspenseful in nature I Highly Recommend Reading it. This is a five stars and a awesome series that I know I will read over and over again!
I absolutely knew I would love reading about the Bad Blood kids all grown up and I wasn't wrong! The first one is the adorable Brandon, we met him in Xander's story, but he's all grown up now and his panther is just as cray cray as his dads. When he was just a kid he saw Jasmin giving birth from a tree branch in panther form and he pled to the wolf that Jasmin was birthing to please change into her animal to make it easy on her mom and from that moment on both Brandon and Kitty (Jasmin's baby) looked into each others eyes and knew they were a piece of each other.
Brandon goes far away from the Bad Bloods because of not being able to handle his panther around their alpha Flynn. He goes out looking to try and form his own crew and now is suffering the death and haunting of that crew that he feels he failed to protect.
Brody & Jasmin's daughter Kitty has always loved Brandon from the moment she was born and looked into his eyes, she knew. Brandon up and left the crew without a goodbye and it's been 6 years, but she can feel his pain. But if she goes to him, will she be able to control KittyMonster around him?
Twins Colt & Remington join Kitty on her mission to help Brandon, but will their help be accepted, or will Brandon make them go away while he seeks the killers of his second Nick. Will the bond that was born with Kitty and Brandon be sufficient to keep their new crew together, a crew that was left behind the day he left the Bad Bloods.
After being kicked out of the Bad Blood pack, panther Brandon Fierro decided it would be better for everyone if he left the area completely, starting fresh away from his family and white wolf Kitty Jameson. Taking only a cheap necklace Kitty gave him six years ago and Flynn’s advice to start his own crew elsewhere¸ Brandon left as they slept.
It’s been six years Kitty still feels the pull and pain of Brandon’s abandonment and lately a recurring, emotionally laden white wolf dream-vision insists Brandon needs her and Kitty’s wolf demands they find him. Meanwhile, Brandon is intent on finding out why and who slaughtered his crew while he deals with his feelings of failure as their Alpha.
Finding paperwork left by his now dead second, Brandon learns he’d leased a derelict mansion and run-down auto repair shop, Brandon steps into both under an alias. Kitty scours her dreams, the internet and drafts Brandon’s best friends, Colt & Remy, to track him. But based on their last in person parting, no one’s sure of the reception they’ll get.
The Bad Blood kids are all grown up, establishing their own pack (Wild Bloods) as they help Brandon get to the bottom of his friends murder and end an issue the Bad Bloods thought they’d taken care of years ago. Kinda fun but this reader felt they missed the mark. Rating: 4stars
I picked up Brock's Mate by Anastasia Wilde and was about two minutes into before I gave up knowing I had to read the other books in the series first. I couldn't be satisfied until I knew the story of all the crew. So I went to the Kindle store to check it out and discovered the whole series was on Kindle Unlimited. Yay! I could read the whole series without any extra expense! I devoured Brandon's Mate in one setting. If you love broken, troubled bad boy shifters who find their strength from true love and unbroken friendships, you will love Brandon's Mate! Anastasia Wilde has created a mystical world of rag-tag shifters bonded together through choice. Each character has a story, a hidden secret, and Ms. Wilde does a magnificent job of developing the mystery,as well as the characters, keeping me enthralled from page one to the end. Her words magically transported to rural Tennessee where I watched the action as though I was a participant. I loved every minute of this book and am thoroughly hooked on this series.
Kitty is a wolf shifter with a big secret. She has been having nightmares about Brandon, her friend abandoning douche. Brandon is a panther shifter and an alpha. He left six years ago without a goodbye to his best friends. No one has seen or heard from him since. Brandon has been doing undercover work for the agency. He gets a message from a friend about needing help. By the time Brandon gets to him, he’s been murdered. Brandon promises to find his killer and get revenge. Kitty finally tracks Brandon down but he tries his best to get rid of her. He has enough problems; he sees the ghosts of his dead crew, he feels broken, and he is working undercover looking for his friends killer. But Kitty is not leaving and two more of their friends are coming too. Brandon gives in lets them help. Can they find the killer and Kitty and Brandon finally get their happily ever after? Loved this story. Action. Little humor. Shifters. Kitty and Brandon are true mates but both are keeping secrets. Kitty is just as protective as Brandon.
Anastasia Wilde has done another fantastic job, with this first book in a new series about the children from The Bad Blood series -- BRANDON'S MATE: The Wild Blood. This installment is well written with never a boring moment, interesting characters, twists and turns, romance, even a little steam.
Brandon and Kitty were childhood friends and grew up with a strong connection to each other. Brandon was showing signs of being a strong alpha at an early age. Eventually he left and created his own pack. Now Brandon is haunted by the ghosts of the pack he failed to protect. Kitty is having dreams of Brandon dying in a fire and she is determined to find and save him.
This is another five star story and I expect future installments will be just as great and a must read for anyone who loves paranormal romance. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I recognized Brandon’s name from another series Ms. Wilde wrote. It’s nice to see the different series tied together. The writing and plot were sound, the characters intriguing, a few minor typos and grammatical errors, and the pace of the story good. The story trope, as with most genre fiction, could use some spicing up, but overall, a very successful story.
I have to admit, I would love to see a shifter romance where the mates recognize each other, accept that they are destined, then go on to fight a great evil together instead of each one having doubts about themselves and thinking the other deserves someone better. Not a very Alpha attitude. Seems to me that if they are already together, they might feel they had more to lose if things go wrong in a battle. Just saying. Confidence is very sexy.
As for recommendations, definitely this is for lovers of shifters, paranormal, romance, good versus evil, and happy endings.
This is the first book in a new series about the children from another series. I haven’t read the series about the parents, but I didn’t feel lost when the past was mentioned. The author does a great job of giving you the history you need without overwhelming you with details and bogging down the story. There is humor, action, suspense, mystery, shifters of various kinds, surprises, twists, and romance. Now having read this one, I plan to read all the stories in the Bad Blood series because I want to know more about how the Wild Blood Shifters’ parents got together. I look forward to more stories in this new series, now that I have met the new crew. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. I enjoyed the book so much that I plan to buy a copy anyway!
Borrowed From KINDLE UNLIMITED Title: Brandon’s Mate Series: Wild Blood Shifters #1 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Anastasia Wilde Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Serial: Standalone, No Cliffhanger #PRN #WolfShifter #PantherShifter 5Star⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ •••••••••••••• 💢 OMG now I I have to tell you this was a phenomenal book absolutely fantastic there was so much Drama and Action there was no way I was putting it down. 🔹️ Do you believe in GHOSTS? Brandon Fierro, he is the Alpha Panther Shifter who is slowly going crazy. But before he does he needs a take his revenge out of the person who murdered of his friend Nick. 🔹️Kitty is a Wolf Shifter who senses her mate, he’s in trouble he needs her. Even if she hadn’t seen him in six years she knows she must find him. ☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books.
I loved the bad blood series so when I saw this was basically the next generation I jumped at it and I wasn't disappointed a few people have said they had issues following it I didn't but this may have been because I read all the wild blood so new the history
Brandon and Kitty grew up as part of the bad blood family he was always her protector then he just up and left He intended to return as alpha of his own crew and present that accomplishment to her but it just never happened. Now six years later her abilities as a white wolf have kicked in and she is seeing visions of Brendon in danger Can she save him will he turn her away again Have they got a future together You will have to read to see
Brandon’s Mate is the first book in the Wild Blood Shifters series. The Wild Bloods are the children from the Bad Blood series. You don’t need to have read the Bad Blood series to follow the story.
Brandon & Kitty were once childhood best friends then Brandon up & leaves without a word breaking poor Kittys heart. Years later Kitty & her monster wolf end up back in Brandon’s life.
I really enjoyed Brandon & Kitty’s story. I loved how Kitty never backed down or gave an inch to ensure she got exactly what she wanted. The new characters are all great & the story flowed well, the twins made me laugh and I look forward to their stories.
The only thing that could have made this book more enjoyable for me would’ve been if the Bad Blood crew got involved in all the shenanigans.
This book has panthers, wolves, crows and more. These excitment filled pages will keep you reading late into the night. It was great to read about the grown children of some of my favorite characters. So you should give this author a try. Brandon is broken and doesn't feel like he is wanted or belongs with the Bad Blood crew anymore so he leaves. Six years later, Kitty keeps having disturbing dreams about Brandon. She was 15 when he left and hasn't seen him since but she feels like must find him and help him. Of course Remy and Colt, two more of the Bad Blood's kids join her in her roadtrip. They all must fight against some really bad shifters. I was given an arc copy and choose to leave my honest opinion.
Brandon has no choice when it comes to being an Alpha
What I did like I liked the characters, the story and the loyalty between the characters. There were also some funny moments, despite the troubled characters and the dire situation they’re in.
What I didn’t like I think the writing can be done better. I found certain parts and phrases repetitive and spotted a few cliches.
Story:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Characters:❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Flow:👍👍👍 Writing and editing:🖋🖋 Steam: 🌶🌶
Disclaimer: I’m leaving a voluntary review and this is my honest opinion. I’m in no way, shape or form coerced, influenced, or paid to leave this review. I’m not related nor friends with this author and I do not have a personal interest in this book.
Branden is an alpha from southwest whom he had lost 3 of his crew. The fourth member of his crew was murdered. He wants revenge because he didn't save Nick. Now he has 4 ghosts haunting him. He know Kitty is his mate but he left her behind because she was too young. Kitty had a vision that he needed help. Will she arrive in time along with backup.
This fast paced action with dramatic flair has characters that are funny, loyal, and stubborn. I like this book because it is a spin off from Bad Blood series. Also additional series are Blackwing Dragons, Silverlake Wolves, Enforcers, and Wild Dragons series by the author.
I am going to binged read these series. Highly recommended.
Took a bit of concentration to follow this at first, then it solidified nicely into a shifter action book with a romance on top.
Brandon has wandered, trying to find his way, losing crew members and almost himself until his best friend finds him again. She has been his since she was born, now she refuses to back off and let him face trouble on his own. That trouble has been following him since he was a child, a remnant of the insane panther pack he was born to, a panther that thinks he is Brandon's brother. A crazy "brother" that plans on taking over a huge swath of territory by killing off the shifters that are there, including the Bad Blood shifter clan, the same Bad Blood clan who saved Brandon and his family years ago.
This is Brandon and Kitty's story . Kitty's wolf starts sending her visions of Brandon , her childhood protector , friend and the love of her life , that he is in mortal danger and she must save him ! Even though she feels like he just abandoned her without a care she has to ! This is a start of a new series and I so cannot wait for the next one !! Wild Blood will end up one of your all time favorite ! You do not have to have read the Bad Blood series to understand but oh boy if you do you will be one happy reader ! This author was able to put some twists and turns that got me and I have to say GRAB THIS STORY !! Well written and recommended to all !!
Wahoo... the spin off from the fabulous Bad Blood series is here!
This book is the first in the new Wild Blood series, which includes a number of the kids from the Bad Blood crew, as they find their own place in the world.
It has the same action, excitement, romance and irreverent humour as the initial Bad Blood series... love it!!!
I highly recommend this fun and feisty series about this somewhat dysfunctional and yet totally awesome shifter crew... but I would also recommend reading the Bad Blood series first (although not a requirement), you won’t regret it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I love this new series! It’s great seeing these kids all grown up! They have a bit of the bad blood in them but also have a bit of newness about them. This is a great story of trying to get this crew together. The twins are fun and funnier. They really livened up Brandon’s more morose attitude. i can’t wait for their stories. Chaos will happen I’m sure since they are full of surprises. I about cried when Flynn ejected Brandon. That is so sad. But it’s a nice redemption that later happens and it helps bring this crew together. I really enjoyed all the shenanigans of the new Wild Blood crew!
I couldn't put this book down. Brandon and Kitty were crazy hot together. You could feel their passion and chemistry coming off the pages as you read the story. To have that kind of bond is what dreams are made of. There was some pretty smoking hot sex scenes but it didn't take away from the story. I love love love the other characters/ family and friends in this story. I liked how they all had issues but worked though each problem. Making them stronger as a group and therefore making the a true Crew. But not just any crew The Wild Blood Crew.
Oh yes I loved reading this. It had its what if bits and maybe we should of bits but in the end it all came to together nicely just as it should of, as a family. This book had me wondering in places and guessing in others but held my attention from start to finish and when the wild you know what came out it I was like woah yes! Make some time to read this if you love reading shifter books and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I was given a copy of this to read and am leaving my honest opinion in response, it was so worth my time, thank you to the author.
I have read everything Anastasia Wilde has put out on Kindle, but the Bad Bloods always had a special place in my heart. Their back story is gripping and seeing them fight for each other and their mates was amazing. Now reading that epic story carried on with the Bad Blood kids... I have goose bumps! I love that Brandon was the one to start this series! I can't wait to read more! I know there will be glitter covered "surprises" showing up on the front porch soon too, just to remind everyone of home.
The Bad Blood series is one of my favorite series of all time, and I re-read it often. I was sad to see it end, so I am beyond excited to see the kids from that series back in a new series. This book was SO good. I loved touching base with some of the old Bad Blood crew, and the new characters that we see in this book (Callie, Squatch, etc) are so interesting that you really want to find out more about their history. I can’t wait for more books in this series. Way to go Anastasia Wilde!!!!!!
Little Brandon is all grown up and as alpha as Flynn, his lion hero. Too bad that's what got him kicked out of the Bad Blood crew. Roaming from disaster to danger as penance, his link to Kitty is still intact. She has always loved Brandon and will hunt him to the ends of the earth to see him safe. Even if it has been years since he left without a word to her. The fur flies as these two lovers come to grips with each other while fighting a shifter war that should have been resolved years ago.
I really enjoyed this story, and it was a terrific start to the series. I would highly recommend that you start with the Silverlake Shifters series and read all of them in the order they were released. Not only will you get fantastic stories, but learn more about the characters, different packs and clans, and the aspects between them all. You certainly won't be disappointed. It's not necessary to read all of them, but you'll definitely be missing out. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and great author.
Having read all of the Silverlake pack stories, starting with Fugitive mate, then the Bad Bloods, passing by the Wild Dragons and ending with the grand finale that is Dark Dragon's Wolf, I was excited to get started on the stories of the next generation. Brandon is the son of Xander and Jenny of the Bad Bloods. As a mother, it broke my heart to read about him leaving his home and family during the night, but his story is as good as those of the stories of his parent's generation. It's the beginning of another great series. And he does reconcile with his parents, in a later book!
