Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Great stuff. Crocodile has finally added some danger to the story. He is an important character, not just for this arc but for the world at large. He's an actual player in the game. He has history with other characters and has importance in the journey for the One Piece. Things are starting to expand and the world-building is coming together, the thing that I believe Oda does the best.
Two million?! That number really seems vastly inflated: a small desert kingdom could never field as many troops, period, much less when they're split in two and put to fight one another. A single big ship's worth of guns could not have armed them all. And when they finally do clash, it takes a fairly short while for them all to pass Vivi into the capital city, which itself seems fairly small for such a big kingdom. Twenty thousand, at absolute most.
I shouldn't be overthinking it, but I am. Not much else to talk about here that someone else didn't already bring up a thousand times, anyway. First time Luffy gets his ass kicked. First real sign of the true level of the Grand Line, and that he's nowhere near the top. Yet, his spirit endures. He never gave up, and even made Crocodile seem like a real fool a couple times.

One thing Eiichiro Oda does far better than Tite Kubo is provide strong spotlight moments for his supporting characters. The other members of the Merry-Go, primarily Usopp, Sanji, and Tony Tony Chopper, get moments to shine as they take on members of Baroque Works. While they're still dealing with lieutenants like any supporting character, they are both challenged and given the opportunity to grow in a fun and entertaining manner.
What an insanely action-packed volume! Luffy and Crocodile have their showdown, the armies converge, Usopp and Chopper have an epic moment, Vivi and her duck encounter trouble too. I love the intensity of the storyarc and how much is at stake while making fun of the villains too; that just fits with the franchise's identity.
This is really just one big build up to the ultimate showdown at Alubarna, and it did drag it out too much in my opinion. As always, I love being back with the crew and seeing what they're up too but this time I just wanted a bit more time to reflect instead of the all out rush this volume had.
One Piece, Vol. 20 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (177–186) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Arabasta Arc. Monkey D. Luffy fights Crocodile and despite many hits, Crocodile is unfazed as he is using his devil-fruit ability to dissolve and reintegrate whatever part of his body Luffy attacks. Luffy is being toyed until he impales Crocodile through the chest with his prosthetic hook and buries him in the sand.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Straw Hats hurry to intercept the rebel army. They cross the desert on a giant crab, cross the river Sandora and are picked up on the other side by Karoo and his squad of spot-billed ducks.
In front of the capital, the high-ranking Baroque Works agents try to intercept Nefeltari Vivi and are lured into the city by disguised Straw Hats. Vivi tries to stop the rebels, but the enraged army storms past her. She flees from Mr. 2, who chases her into the city where Sanji comes to her rescue. On the other side of the city, Usopp and Chopper battle the agents Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. The narrative continues the Arabasta Arc and concludes the fight between Monkey D. Luffy and Crocodile and further expands the story between the civil war in Arabasta as the Straw Hat Pirates tries to stop the plans of the Baroque Works.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 20 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
And the long awaited battle in Alabarna is finally underway!!! It’s just getting started now😻 Everything’s so intense, so much action omg love this arc👌😻❤️❤️
now we getting the real fights. FIRST UP. MR.4 AND MERRY CHRISTMAS VS USOPP AND CHOPPER. chopper and usopp UGH such a good duo for their first real fight. shows their strengths (and weaknesses) and idk really good fight!! and then getting hinted at the Mr. 2 (my king) vs sanji (my other king). MWAH. GOOD SHIT
Ms. All Sunday is so suspicious. I wonder what her ✨️true✨️ motives are.
Jokes aside, the Chopper and Ussop vs. Merry Christmas and Mr. Four fight.. That was peak fiction. No wonder it was the first thing to pop into my head as soon as the crew entered Alabasta. Lowkey left an impression on me.
This volume was random and weird in the best possible way. The stakes got higher and we’re finally seeing action, but we still got some funny scenes and a lot of banter. I really enjoyed this one.

ALABASTA ARC - PART 3 1. sir crocodile casually doxxing ms. all sunday (nico robin). he is a horrible friend and a horrible employer
2.luffy drinking toh-toh's water is like popeye eating spinach
3. i like how whenever usopp lies, they change up the font to make it extremely clear that he's spinning around facts in his favour
4. interesting. nico robin has made a curious notion: "as one of those whose name is d.", meaning monkey d. luffy, portgas d. ace and more? their parents maybe? what is their bloodline? (what if they're like ackermanns...?)
5. i love that creatures that have been shown before make a reappearance (especially in favour of the straw hats!!) like the kung fu jugons
6. the flying rotating balls that mr. 4 hits feel like the bludgers from harry potter
7. i fucking love usopp. i used to dislike him but holy hell, his silly as fuck plans and feints are hilarious, and his courage to stick to it when it really matters is commendable. it makes his character feel real, because yes. we would all feel scared of these type of things, but yet he still takes a 4 ton bat to his head (and survives!)
8. also what's the obsession of the baroque works with bananas?
(chapters 177-186: 5 stars) quick notes i wrote down: luffy begins fighting crocodile and with attack after attack, everything is futile. luffy ends up getting seriously injured. the maps included for the kingdom of alabasta have been incredibly helpful and yet so sad because everyone is seeming to collide now. the rebels and the palace guards going after one another for the same cause is heartbreaking. one of the only moments i've understood both reasons to fight. and the old man never giving up his hope that the king will help them and that there will be water. igarham is alive!!! which we should've seen coming seeing how ms.all sunday is very interesting and doesn't seem to really move with anyone but herself. the oversexualization of women in this is something but okay i guess. jugons come to the rescue. karoo and his supersonic duck squadron. karooooooooooo!!! sanji to the rescue. the fight with usopp/chopper + mr.4/ms.merry christmas
The fighting between Luffy pirate vs the company of Baroque works. The president of this company is called. Mr.0. He is a strong pirate, he recognized that he was unexcused pirates from navy. His ability is to become something sand. He is a sand man. The famous line of Usop appeared, so let's check it out.
