Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Things pick up considerably with this volume: give the Wano stuff a short break, give us some exciting background and revelations, finally learn the Bounty Ceiling, followed by the best flashback so far. A little long flashback, maybe (same as the entire arc), but that's fine, it has a lot to tell and the characters involved in it are interesting and relatable and I want to know what happens to them. Also, a whole two cliffhangers separated by several decades.
On Garp: So it was saving humanity that gave Monkey D. Garp the admiral title. Most impressive I must say. He is the strongest living person in One Piece right? Not only though, Garp shared a sweet piece of wisdom on world peace: "Differences in wealth and religion… Will ensure that kings are never equals!" :
On Lord Oden: I see now why Lord Oden is so special and loved by all. Strict and stoic he protected he Mink tribe while still being human with his people: "You only fear what is different out of ignorance" It's fair to say they echo the meditations of Aurelius : "They are like this because they can't tell good from evil" link to quote Personal most lovable moment of lord Oden is when he realises travelling opens your mind: "Every day my old illusions were shattered"
Cant wait to see what Eiichiro Oda Oda has for us now on: a) Oden and Roger's adventures. b) Zolo's and Enma's relationship. I am sold into that Wano is his Arc. My expectations are high c) The seven warlords of the sea. Cant just push all those guys like that. Lets see....
« If you want to inspire and lead those whose spirits are broken or who fought once before and were laid low…then you must remove your disguise to whow them who you are.»
Me ha gustado más que el tomo anterior. He de admitir que le he cogido un poco más de gusto al arco, pero espero no bloquearme de nuevo en el mismo punto que la relectura. No lo creo, pero aquí seguimos, poco a poco, pero segura.
This was pretty epic and the first half is the plans coming together and the gathering of the armies and Good moment with Luffy inspiring the others to take arms against the would be captors and some stuff with Big Mom and Kaido and we get a lesson of the different bounties and some other history that happened from the Admiral Sengoku. And then finally the tale of KOZUKI ODEN begins and his weird antics and founding of the 9 Samurais and finally his adventure with whitebeard, having his son and soon other things! I love it whenever Oda does these backstories because he ties in so many things and characters we know from the present also get tied in and it just makes this world more cohesive like a puzzle box, the art was amazing and some scenes with Oden were just too good!
WANO COUNTRY ARC - PART 5 1. i love the concept of having the main character fight somebody, lose and then they learn a technique along their struggles that will help them overcome that hurdle. prime example with luffy and kaido!
2. what type of beings are 'the numbers'?
3. YOOO ZORO CUT THE WHOLE ENTIRE CLIFF (i love that he has to tame the sword the way one tames wild beasts; a challenge more for him) - WADO ICHIMONJI AND ENMA ARE CRAFTED BY THE SAME PERSON, that's such a fucking cool connection. how do you turn a sword into a black sword, though? also, zoro fits super well in wano, just his general style, though instead of being the 'honourable' samurai the way others are, he only follows his own code of honour
4. ?????? sabo. no. ???? no.
5. what the- x. drake is not a pirate, he is a navy marine??
6. they finally abolished the seven warlord system. oh, this is gonna plunge a lot into chaos, and now the seven have to be hunted again. that being said, mihawk sighted- WOOFOW OFOOFOFOW WOOFW OOOF WOOOOF
7. i've been waiting for a long time to get to know more about the earlier days of piracy; about whitebeard when he was younger, about gol d. roger, about shanks - now one of them was fulfilled: whitebeard! i really enjoy the narrative that during his time of the rocks pirate crew, he hated the concept of each to their own, so when starting his own crew, it's about how everybody is a family and works with trust and within a group.
i cannot wait to know more about the god valley war, because 1. we're going to know more about how garp and roger became 'friends', or at least acquainted enough for roger to expect garp to take care of his son (which, to me, is the entire point of being friends) 2. i'm a big fan of any type of clashing - this time, it's whitebeard, big mom, kaido and their captain rocks vs garp and roger. the war was apparently that crazy that it even disappeared off the face of the eart - INSANE.
also, the will of d. is mentioned again - where does it come from? who started that bloodline? are the ones who have it, e.g. luffy, law, ace, rocks, roger, garp and dragon related beyond law being roger's son and luffy + dragon being garp's family? i also enjoy the little hint of rebellion against the world nobles from garp, considering he got the will of d. as well.
8. i'm quaking in my boots, 4 BILLION 48 MILLION BERRIES, EH? NOT BAD, SHANKS
9. why are they getting betrayed? WHO TOLD OROCHI EVERYTHING? LITERALLY EVERYTHING, from plans to amount of troops to locations. who would do that? it can only be one of the inner crew, like momonosuke's
10. zoro needs to stop cutting off cliffs, or else they're gonna have to discuss their plans while swimming (half of the crew will die)
11. i also like that all of them matured, but the childish rivalry between zoro and sanji will forever keep them young at heart. i also like that these people can endure any type of pain, but one hit by nami and they're crumbling to the ground. i know it's probably only for funsies, but i wonder it's because they're so at ease with their crew that they don't bother defending, dodging or activate any of their hakis
12. i need otsuru and kin'emon to MEET (them young is so cute; but why is kin'emon blonde?? HOW DID HE GET HIS HAIR SUDDENLY BLACK)
13. i loved, loved, loved getting to know oden's story, from being a rascal and a menace when he was younger to him growing up and having a retinue in which he trusts as well as taking responsibility (well, only until he got the chance to become a pirate). also, now i know how izo came to be in whitebeard's crew hehe (whitebeard's boobs were huge and marco is actually old as heck??)
14. also, uhhhhhh, just saying but...WHERE IS LAW?
Yohohohoho! I have finally caught up with One Piece, and the Wano Arc is nothing short of exhilarating. The Beast Pirates and The Big Mom Pirates have merged to form an alliance, which would make it the highest bounty alliance in the series right now. We get to see a bit of backstory of Oden. Luffy and Zoro are training to increase their Haki for the inevitable battle.
This is basically everything I want. Not to complain but this arc has not been doing it for me so far. There is a lot of planning and many characters to get to know that sadly are not getting their spotlight they deserve. However, if there is something that Oda is good at is giving this emotional sequences that make me feel completely excited. This back story of Oden - I am in love with.
Volume 95: Chapter 954-964 Saga 10: Wano Country Arc 31: Wano Country
Oden wielded two swords, Ame-no-Habakiri which is given to Momonosuke and Enma which is given to Hiyori. Hitetsu gave the Enma to Zoro. Enma is the sword that suck its wielder's Haki but Zoro managed to control it.
Law defeats Hawkins and escape from the prison.
The preparation is going well. Some of them were divided into several teams; Ship Repair Team (Itachi Port, Kuri), Weapons Prep Team (Udon), Katana Retrieval Team (Ringo) and Yakusa Rousing Team (Kibi). Beasts Pirates have 20,000 people and Shogun Orochi's people have 10,000. On the raid side, there are 4,200 people.
There are two methods to reach Wano; using the waterfall and pulled up by the koi fish and using the cave behind the waterfall. At the end of the cave, there is a Mogura Port that will haul up a ship upward. Scratchmen Apoo arrived at Wano along with a giant monsters called Numbers. While in Onigashima, Kaido and Big Mom make an alliance.
7 of the Akazaya Nine set out first for their mission. Information about the raid leaked to Orochi.
End of Act 2.
The Reverie is ended. There are some big news; an incident between Sabo and the Kingdom of Alabasta, and the desolution of the Shichibukai system. The former Shichibukai are being hunted by the Marines. Koby contact X Drake who is part of Marine Tope Secret Organization, SWORD. X Drake reported about Big Mom and Kaido alliance and also CP0 in Wano.
Long ago, there is a Rocks Pirates, who the captain, Rocks D. Xebec wants to be a king of the world. His crews consists of Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, the Golden Lion Shiki, the Silver Axe, Captain John and Wang Zhi. They operated in Fullalead. 38 years ago, there is an incident in God Valley where Rocks Pirates was wiped out by the Marines led by Garp, and he was called the Hero of the Marines. Indeed, Garp team up with Roger to defeat Rocks Pirates.
Several bounties were revealed: 1) Gol D. Roger (5,564,800,000 Berry) 2) Edward Newgate (5,046,000,000 Berry) 3) Kaido (4,611,100,000 Berry) 4) Charlotte Linlin (4,388,000,000 Berry) 5) Shanks (4,048,900,000 Berry) 6) Marshall D. Teach (2,247,600,000 Berry)
Kozuki Oden is from Wano and he leaved Wano to join Whitebeard Pirates as a commander. He then, joined Roger Pirates and followed them to the Laugh Tale.
Act 3 begin!
Orochi set off to Onigashima for the feast during the Fire Festival. The rebellion will starts. The Akazaya 9 and Momonosuke waited at the promised port but nothing were shown. A day before, Orochi have starts his plan to destroyed the bridge that connecting the regions and also the ships at the port.
41 years ago, Kozuki Oden lives in Wano. Several times he went to the sea but failed at sailing. After incident of Mountain God (White Boar) who attack the capital, Oden was banished. He set off his journey around Wano. That's when he got a followers; Kin'emon, Denjiro, Kanjuro, Izo, Kikunojo and Raizo. Kuri is a lawless place ruled by Ashura Doji. Oden defeats him and Ashura Doji followed him. Oden turned Kuri into prospered and peace place. Shogun Sukiyaki named Oden as the Daimyou of Kuri.
One day, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi stranded at the beach of Wano. Kawamatsu the Kappa found them but they were caught by the villagers. Oden saved them and they followed him. All 10 of them trained to be a great samurai to help Oden become a Shogun. A year after, Whitebeard Pirates landed on the beach of Wano. Oden asked Whitebeard to let him on the ship.
Oden, Izo, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi managed to be on board of Whitebeard's ship. On a certain island, Oden found Amatsuki Toki, who can leap through time. They have an adventure on the sea.
From what I've seen around the Internet, it appears the Wano arc is generally well-regarded everywhere except 4chan(nel), whom I know to be contrarian by nature, but whom I also "trust" a good deal more than many other websites and their respective "cultures." I think the five biggest "problems" with Wano are agreed to be: 1) its length compared to all prior arc; 2) a perceived decline in Oda's illustrative ability; 3) the length of "Roof Piece" in particular; 4) everyone in the story wanking over Oden; 5) Yamato specifically wanking over Oden. Thus far, I have not gotten to Yamato's introduction or the rooftop battle at Onigashima, so I cannot speak for those elements. For the general length of the arc, I've been enjoying what I've read so far, but it's incredibly daunting that I have about ten more volumes still to go, especially when, if I'm not mistaken, it's all still part of Act 3 of the arc, and that maybe there is no Act 4 or 5(?), meaning this "act" will be far longer than the first two, and will almost entirely cover the raid on Onigashima, which would be a "Tantric" level of climax...! We'll see how that goes. Otherwise, I've been enjoying the shift in Oda's artstyle, especially having gotten used to how spreads work on Manga Plus, and, like many other manga I've read, I couldn't pinpoint when I'd say the artstyle noticeably changed, which I suppose is a benefit to bingeing the manga rather than reading it weekly for twenty-five years.
So at last we come to the proper introduction of Oden. I knew little about him beforehand, other than his appearance, including a hairstyle I thought was rather silly. I knew the manga would jack off over how fuckin' cool he is, and was not looking forward to it because I felt there was no way Oda could do justice to the hype. But... eh, it worked out alright. Oden's pretty cool so far, though I admit I view him in a partly "ironic" sense, as he does a "Chad Stride" for his walk, or, more specifically, it reminds me of memes about Jiren's walk in Dragon Ball Super.... Otherwise, Oden is pretty charismatic in how funny he can be, but also I feel there's a sort of "balance" with all his followers seeing something in him with which he may not necessarily agree; that is, Oden is mythologized by his followers, whom we know in the "present," but who were impressed by him in the lengthy flashback taking up the latter half of this volume. It'd be more annoying if Oden was personally responsible for establishing his own legend, so I like that it's done this way instead.
Also, apparently I'm familiar enough with Cat Viper and Dogstorm that I choked up a little when we saw their child selves in the flashback. I didn't think I had particularly strong interest in any Mink, aside from maybe Sulong-form Carrot....
NEXT UP Kaido klappen en ksta cho 🔥🔥
First half was exciting. I’m scared about sabo. What did you do??? I’m invested into this whole thing with the dismantling of the seven warlords. Like shit gonna go down. The second half was just a history lesson, which I didn’t pay attention to bc I was reading it like how I read my immortal fanfic (that o and I read minutes prior to starting this volume). Apparently bc I’m tired i can’t say anything about a young whitebeard or gold Rogers.
The Straw Hats and their allies are ready to begin the battle against Kaido, even if it means facing down every Beast pirate that comes their way; unbeknownst to them, the end of the Reverie far off leads to drastic changes in the pirate hierarchy...Oda will bring chills of excitement to readers with this tense entry that promises grand plans for our heroes. All of their training and planning is finally coming to fruition!
Me ha gustado ver la parte de los Shichibukai, que te quedas con la boca abierta, pero todo lo que es la historia de Oden la verdad que me está aburriendo un poco.
