Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

This is not the first manga I read, but it's one piece's first. Things are happening in Onigashima, amazing stuff, better than the anime which is full of fillers.
Kin'emon's plan was hilarious. Possibly the single best cliffhanger resolution in the entire story - all the genuine drama and tension and stakes, turned into a great big joke that resolves mostly everything in a funny way. It's great. Half star just for that.
Other than that, though, the volume has some issues with bloat. New characters are still being introduced: every Straw Hat, every important samurai, needs someone all for themselves to fight. And then there's Yamato. Still has some highlights and good moments, funny gags and amazing fights, but you know how it is. Wano is kind of a bloated and poorly-paced mess, by One Piece standards.
WANO COUNTRY ARC - PART 7 1. JIMBEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII YAYYYYYYYY LET'S GOOOOOOO NEW MEMBERRRRRR, he is so fucking cooooooool, i love having him on board hehe
2. the way luffy smells meat, zoro smells alcohol
3. I LOVE THAT NOTHING THAT TRAFFY SAYS MATTERS; they all just do what they want. "don't hold strategy meetings at my ship" - everybody comes together to do exactly that. "don't make yourself known" - zoro gets arrested, luffy goes to fight kaido, sanji fights against some samurai in the capital. he must be the most frustrated ever
4. the maroon black suit of sanji's. i wanna drown in it
5. i love how the crew agrees with luffy's impulses, but then pretends they're completely disagreeing with it but oh well, they have to go along with it. also no matter how zoro pretends to be the levelheaded one, he and luffy share the same braincell
6. i didn't except kaido to have a child; I LOVE THAT SHE IS ALLYING WITH LUFFY and that she met ace before too - i miss him
7. apoo is so insanely annoying. shut the fuck up. his fighting ability with the waves of the air is cool, but holy hell, SHUT THE FUCK UP. i cannot stand this motherfucker, from design to sound to everything
8. MARCOOOOOO my heart hurts seeing him, but im also so happy that he was there, AND BRINGING IZO BACK TOGETHER WITH THE CREW AND KIKU AWW
9. i love tank commander chopper and sniper driver usopp, one of my favourite combos
This was a pretty good book. We finally have them making their way into Onigashima and also enter Jinbei who joins up with the straw hats and they party and then enter to that area, meanwhile Luffy seeing some food spoilage attacks them and the fight Is epic. Zoro and Luffy vs enemies on all sides and then there is the alliance of Big Mom and Kaido pirates bit also the execution of someone. It's all coming together in the strangest of ways, infiltration on all sides but also gathering of enemies in what's sure to be a big fight but before that meet Kaidos son! This volume gets better. The world keeps expanding and there are twists and turns. The art is so good especially scene of Kaido.
luffy's group arrived! KYOSHIRO CAME WITH 200 MEN. HE REVEALED TO THEM THAT HE'S DENJIROOOOOOO and the 1000 samurai trapped in prison are freed. actually kinemon's misdirection on where the actual meeting place is allowed their alliance to pass through last night. the traitor passed the wrong message to orochi. HAHAHAH BUT KINEMON TOTALLY GOT FOOLED TOO. well, it worked in their favour
kanjuro kidapped momonosuke and he can actually draw really well.
JIMBEI'S GRAND ENTRANCE!!!! I LOVE IT
”I'm the new recruit. They call me Jimbei, the knight of the seas!”
onwards to kaido's island!
while the wano retainers were strategising, the straw hat crew went ahead. on the night of the fire festival, kaido's soldiers will be celebrating there. no worries there though cause the straw hat crew just fought their way through.
the tobi roppo (the flying six) are sasaki, x drake, black maria, who's who, page one, and uruti. they're kaido's strongest members. their task is to bring kaido's son, yamato. if they bring him back, he'll give them rights to go against an all star, king.
awww zoro and luffy being pissed at kaido's people for throwing away a ton of food when tama had to go hungry all the time ):
kidd is so done with luffy and zoro ahahahah. kidd is surprisingly likeable.
MARCO IS HERE. big mom's crew tried to go up the waterfall again, but marco stopped them.
oh no, kanjuro reached orochi and kaido with momonosuke and told them that they failed to stop the samurai.
chopper and usopp lured big mom away (not really. she's following prometheus). nami, shinobu, and carrot were caught by prometheus. luffy bumped into page one and uruti. yamato knocked out uruti (???) and took luffy away.
after the submarine got them to the rear entrance of the island, law room-ed them onto the island where marco, neko, and izo (kiku's brother) were waiting. yamato have always idolised oden and he found oden's logbook in kuri. yamato wants to reopen this country and want luffy to fight alongside him. YAMATO IS ACTUALLY A DAUGHTER, A GIRL. and she said that luffy reminds her of ace.
Can't believe I didn't start reading the manga sooner!! The anime is amazing, but I love how much quicker progress you get with the manga lol there aren't those "forever" scenes, which in the past little while the anime has been millllllking!
So good!! Despite the enormous amount of characters, this arc has been so frenetic and exciting. This volume had great quotes, comedy and action. I’m re-reading this arc while following weekly, so I can’t wait to see the outcome.
Volume 97: Chapter 975-984 Saga 10: Wano Country Arc 31: Wano Country
Denjiro appears while leading the rebellion forces consists of 5,400 men. They sailed from Habu Port not Tokage Port, so Kanjuro didn't stopped anything. The raid of Onigashima is still proceed. He kidnapped Momonosuke and escaped to Onigashima. Later, Jinbe appears and introduced himself as the tenth Straw Hat Pirates crew.
The Tobi Roppo (Flying Six) were introduced; Ulti, Page One, Who's Who, Black Maria, X Drake and Sasaki. They were summoned by Kaido to help him search his son, Yamato. The rebel forces was splitted into two teams; the East Army led by Kin'emon and the West Army led by Denjiro. The Akazaya 9 was sneak into the back of Onigashima using Law's Polar Tang. Luffy, Zoro, Kidd and Killer charged through the front. They faced Apoo.
Big Mom's ship led by Perospero was heading to Wano. Marco appears and push them back. Nekomamushi arrived at Wano along with his troops, Marco and Izo. The West Army faced Sasaki but Denjiro restrained him using the seastone cuffs. The East Army faced Big Mom but Chopper and Usopp distracted her away from the forces. Big Mom chased Nami and Carrot who kidnapped Zeus. Law and the Akazaya 9 arrived at Onigashima from the back. There, they meet Nekomamushi, Marco and Izo.
Luffy faced Ulti (Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pachycephalosaurus) and Page One (Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Spinosaurus). Yamato appears and bring Luffy away. Yamato is Kaido's son (she is female actually). She self-proclaimed as a Kozuki Oden as she saw Oden's execution 20 years ago. She found Oden's journal and wants to be like him.
(chapters 975-984: 5 stars) 4.5/5 stars. very excellent setup volume for the upcoming battle. jimBAE is back, and i loved the snippets of him and robin! it’s insane seeing how much the strawhats have grown mentally and physically, my goodness! truly adore the fact that oda makes his characters, all billion of them, seem so realized. it really warms my heart to know that despite wano being a terrifying place, the characters choose to express themselves outwardly, even down to their gender(s). i was looking forward to that, especially when we were introduced to the kamabakka queendom. yamatoooooo??!?!
After oden’s flashback the war begins! It was a great war opening that unites the alliances and the way oda sensei draw the panels of every each person enters onigashima like luffy/law/kid panel and jimbe and marco too!
Also we got to see kaido’s daughter who turns out to be siding with luffy and the announcement of kaido’s finding one piece plan.
This is my first time reading manga battle in one piece since I’ve finished the anime earlier so i’ll be patient by waiting on weekly basis lol
The battle against Kaido and his Beast pirates has begun, and it will take every ounce of strength and skill the Straw Hats and their allies have to not only survive, but defeat two of the Four Emperors in an all-out fight for Wano! Oda will keep fans enthralled with plenty of humour, action and surprises, diving into another epic battle with even grander consequences. Who will make it to the summit of the palace to face off against the great might of Kaido?
I love the trans representation we have with Yamato who said well I wanted to be a boy after my hero so I am a boy. Therefore that means I am Kaido’s son and everyone said yep that makes sense to me. I love it so much
The start of the Wano big battle. The whole part with the Akazaya 9 felt epic and atmospheric. All around pretty nice although nothing else really stands out either...
