What happens when the one guy you can’t fall for is the only one you can’t resist?
As one of the new human cadets at an alien military academy, I knew I’d have to prove myself. Especially since I’m one of only a few females sent by Earth. I just didn’t know that the one alien I want to impress would be the one who seems determined to hate me.
I was sent here because I’m a champion pod racer, so why won’t the big, gruff pod instructor let me show him what I can do? If he thinks ignoring me or assigning me after-hours work polishing his pods will discourage me, then he’s never met a girl from Texas.
If I’m being honest, the alien’s huge muscles and gold tattoos have me thinking about riding more than pods when I’m around him, but no way can anything happen with one of my teachers. Right?
Especially since I get the idea that the bad boy instructor is hiding something. Does his secret have something to do with the strange things happening at the academy? If there really is a traitor behind it all, could it be him?
Rogue is a full-length enemies-to-lovers, forbidden love romance with a guaranteed HEA and no cheating. This is the first book in the Alien Warrior Academy series.
I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.
I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!
❥ 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒆 She‘s a badass. I liked the way she stands up for herself and knows what she‘s capable of. We love confident women!
❥ 𝑲𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒏 He was big and grumpy but so protective of Brooke - sweet.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 I liked this book. It‘s entertaining, well written and short. A good read for an evening. The plot is interesting and I liked the academia setting mixed with alien romance. Brooke and Koran are a great couple and I liked them together. They fight a lot of word battles and in the beginning Koran is an asshole but they develop feelings for each other fast. Sadly the moment they fell in love wasn‘t well written. There was a moment of lust and from then on they just had sex everytime they see each other. The feeling part falls short. In general everything considering the feelings of the characters is written superficial, this could have been done better. And there was nearly no podracing? The other classes are described way better and I‘m kinda sad we didn‘t see Brooke race like a badass more often. Overall a good alien romance and I‘m intrigued in the world building and side characters.
𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 alien, warrior, military school, teacher x student, upcoming war, badass female, possessive and protective hero, insta lust, grumpy x confident woman
𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 ages: both in their twenties I think cheating: no sharing: no kinks: no
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I caught. The world building was okay, with the Academy not being very vivid in my mind. The characterization was okay, but I had a dislike of the hero. He held the heroine back in her studies and did not respect her skill as a pod racer, which I had a major problem with. I lost respect for the heroine getting sexually involved with someone who obviously did not respect her and tried to hold her back. The development of the romantic relationship between them did not work for me, because of the above reasons. The plot and pacing were tight and exciting. There was low angst and high stakes in this novel, which I usually enjoy. This novel used the Student/Teacher trope. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were two stars. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. This novel ends on a Happy For Now ending, which I found a little disappointing. I prefer true HEA's. I do not know that I recommend this novel to fans of sci-fi romance because of how the heroine was so disempowered and disrespected in this novel without her seeming to mind. I am not sure that I will read any further novels in this series. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

You guys know I am all about student/teacher romance (as long as the students aren't in high school), but this four part series is a nice twist on the trope where human female cadets fall for their alien instructors. I didn't completely love this one as I felt the pacing was a little disjointed; I thought the romance aspect progressed too quickly in the beginning while the plot of the story didn't really develop until the second half. Other than that I enjoyed the forbidden and steamy romance between Brooke and Koran, and I look forward to the next book in the series ♡
2.5-3 Stars - This was good leaning towards just okay.
What I liked:
1) The premise
I think the idea of civilian specialists and military ops having to travel across the universe to be trained to defend themselves is cool (& a sustainable model. Teach a person to fish and they can feed their family for life – I'm pretty sure the saying is something along those lines.)
2) The MC's are podracers
This just takes me back to little Annie (Anakin) back on Tatooine podracing and gets me excited for the potential daring and dangerous events. I liked this idea (read below for more info) and I was hoping for some excitement.
3) We have the start of some interesting characters.
I really hope that the author will develop them more in the next books.
What I didn't like:
1) The characters are not very developed.
We don't get to really know the two MC's and a lot of what they do does not make sense i.e. kissing this instructor that you met yesterday and didn't really like. This came out of left field for me and didn't seem to make sense in how the story was progressing. They also only had one brief conversation about cultural differences, but other than this we know nothing about these aliens and their culture. We only understand that there are some tensions between clans, but we aren't shown examples of it.
2) The story doesn't feel fleshed out, i.e. plot points forgotten, depth, no world building
It seems like we have a lot of good ideas, but the execution wasn't quite all there. (podracing, not a lot of depth, no world building, characters, etc.) On the topic of world building, the author gave us almost no information about the world. All I know is that there are clans and mountains so you have to do a lot of filling in by yourself. Additionally, there were plot points that fizzled out to nothing. The author built up this conflict for Koran, but then it played a minor role and then disappeared.
3) The author set me up to expect some podracing and there was almost no podracing.
I felt like one of those people who buys something online and then when it arrives in the mail it doesn't look anything like the picture. Podracing was supposed to be a big part of both the MCs identity, but the MCs ride 2 times. ONLY TWICE. So this was a bit of a let down because I expected there to be more podracing and I feel like there could have been more exciting moments.
This is a series where you’d want the rest to be present so that you’ll continue to read on and on.
To prepare for an alien invasion, Earth sends its men and women, experts in their own fields, in the Lokarian Academy. And what do you know, these trainors happened to be Hot.
Koran can’t seem to keep his hands off of her and sooner than we thought, he claimed her, or should I say it’s the other way around. Brooke might be small but she sure is one feisty girl, she won’t let anyone get the best of her.
But conspiracy abounds in the Academy and there is a traitor amidst them. Looks like the battle is already starting.

This is an impressive start to a fascinating new series “Alien Warrior Academy” & I found the plot to be well-written, interesting & well-paced with well-described scenes & good world building. The characters are individually unique with opposing personalities & are inclined to be quite judgmental and/or confrontational but they do continue to develop throughout the story-line to become a well-adjusted couple. It is about: a condescending Lokarian Military Officer & space-pod instructor (Koran) at a Lokarian Warrior Academy is not too impressed when humans are allowed in then he comes into contact with a very feisty human female hover-bike racer (Brooke Butler) who is quite determined to prove how wrong his rather judgmental attitude is towards humans & her. There is: Lokarian aliens, various clans, evil Skrum aliens with deadly intentions, humans, danger, threats, enemies, spies, traitors, sabotage, attractions, action, adventure, friendship, twists & turns, intrigue, drama, suspense, some humor, devious plans, deceit, betrayal, prejudices, verbal conflict, harassment, attractions, doubts, suspicions, misunderstandings, jealousy, confrontations, devious plans, a high speed chase, explosions, compromises, contentment, steamy scenes & a satisfying conclusion for this couple. I really enjoyed reading this alien warrior romance & look forward to the next book in this series.
If reading about an alien academy where espionage and intrigue are the main items on the menu, then you are in for a treat. Koran is a pod instructor in the Lokarian Academy and when he sees the humans coming into his class, he sees them as small and inconsequential, but he hadn’t met Brooke yet, and boy will she teach him some things.
They start a forbidden romance And face danger, where they find out who is responsible for the information that was take. To give to the planet’s biggest threat. You will find a bit of steam coming from these pages at times. A well rounded novel in a part of a series.

Great story. Plenty of action, adventure, drama, suspense, mystery and hot steam. Brooke is the first human cadet sent to an alien military academy. Koran is a Lokarian warrior and he is the instructor for the racing hoverbikes. Booke isn't there to just polish his pods after hours if he thinks that he's in for a rude awakening cause he's not meet a girl from Texas. But there is mystery going on and Booke thinks the bad boy instructor is hiding something. Is he behind the strange things happening at the academy? Great Book.
My honest opinion is that Tana Stone is an amazing author. This story Rogue is the first book in the Warrior Academy series. I will say when you read this story you will feel as I do and will need to have to read the other books in this series. Warriors are preparing for invasion on Earth. Where they send men and women, experts in their own fields, in the Lokarian Academy. And you read the development of Brooke and Koran's story. He is a pod instructor and she a sassy hoover bike rider. A pair matched perfectly.
Brooke is one of the humans who were selected to attend the alien warrior academy that would help them hone their skills in order to assist Earth in resisting the enemy invading aliens.
She is eager to prove herself and when Koran, the space-pod instructor of the class she is most interested in, doesn't immediately fawn over her awe inspiring skills, she acts like a petulant five year old and .
In the meanwhile, it comes to light that there is a saboteur among them working for the bad aliens, and everyone is suspicious of everyone else, including Koran, who stood out anyway since he is from a lawless clan.
In the end and all's well that ends well for the happy couple.
The hunt for the remaining traitor continues in the next book of the series, Rebel, and Layla's story. I am more interested in the timid hacker and hand-to-hand instructor's story, which comes after that, but every book in the series is by a different author, so perhaps the second one won't be as rushed as this one was.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Hohohohoh! This was good! I enjoyed reading this book! I’ve been waiting months for this release....no pun! Lol geez and now I’ve finally read book one of this series and it didn’t disappoint! This one had a lot going for it! Lust, great chemistry, mystique, snarky banter and hot jealousy from the alpha male lead lol. There’s some phenomenal world building going on here as well! Of course it also had its share of bad guys getting put in their place and introducing us to the other female leads of the next books. I liked carter. But I don’t think we will see him getting a book since there’s no alien females around! There were some hints at some human interests though! All the girls were very likable and some they didn’t talk about their specialties and have a very secretive background that pique my interest. So there’s some intense curiosity there. I’m looking forward to the other books! Next up is Hope Hart’s book and I know that will be just as good! Start this series! This gets 5⭐️ from me!
So I dove into this multi-authored series because of my familiarity with 2 of the authors. This author was not one of them I was familiar with but I am glad I stumbled across her work. This book did a great job setting up this world with the Academy and introduced the other characters we will see in the future books which I look forward to reading.
I was wondering exactly what the plot would be other than a forbidden instructor/student relationship but I was pleased with the traitor drama that was weaved into this story. I can tell this story arc with the traitor will be seen in the future books since it hasn’t been dealt with quite yet.
Fun series opener that has captured my attention for the future books.
4 1/2 stars - I read a lot of alien romance and this story about Brooke and Koran was a enjoyable read since it's the first book in a series. Brooke who's been selected to attend the Lokarian Warrior Academy, because of her special skills flying a pod (hoverbikes) to fight and defend against the invasion by the Skrum, an alien race that would like to takeover Earth and Koran a Lokarian space pod instructor and from a outside tribe, the Vratvos, known for surviving by their wits and criminal endeavors. When Commander Daryx informs him about his new recruit at first he's excited until he finds out she's a women. Will Brooke prove why she was nominated to the Academy and to Koran who she's attracted to. Who is causing the strange things happening around the Academy? The beginning relationship between them is like oil and water until they each see each others worth in this Alien romance along with the action made this a page turner along with the world building. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.
I loved this book. It’s the first “alien” story I’ve read in ages. The storyline was intriguing, exciting and entertaining. The story drew me in from start to finish. The story was easy to follow and was a smooth read. Loved the characters, the main two and also the secondary which I’m sure we will read about in the rest of this series. Koran and Brooke, albeit different species were great together. Koran was kind of all over the place with his feelings for Brooke but he soon comes round. Brooke, my kind of girl, was fiesty, a tom boy of the group and wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself against the gruff and intimidating alien male. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read Layla’s book
This is Rogue: A Sci-Fi Academy Romance (Alien Warrior Academy Book 1) by Tana Stone and I have to say this is an outstanding book with the characters and word usage off the charts and the chemistry between Koran and Brooke was amazing. There's plenty of action, drama, intrigue, emotion, suspense, forbidden romance, adventure, mystery, enemies, hot alpha male alien, twists, turns, love, passion, and a wonderful hot and steamy romance. The story takes place at the Lokarian Warrior Academy, a place where select humans are sent because they possess a certain specialty and need to learn to be able to deal with the Skrum who are looking at taking over earth. Brooke is a feisty human who races hover bikes and is a human cadet at an alien military academy where Koran is her Lokarian space pod instructor, she catches his eye right from the beginning. The story is a unique with amazing characters and is a full-length enemies-to-lovers, forbidden love romance that I can't wait to read more of.

Brooke is selected to attend the Lokarian Warrior Academy to hone her specialty with pod skills so that she can fight and defend against invasion by the Skrum, an alien race that would like to overcome Earth. The pod is the equivalent to a human hover bike and Brooke is the best of the best, which she could easily prove if given the opportunity.
Koran is Brooke’s Lokarian space pod instructor, but he thinks the frail-looking human needs to be protected. (We humans can be certain that her being a feisty female, human, and a Texan will make her a formidable opponent once she gets ahold of the arrogant instructor.) But there seems to be a traitor in the Academy. Will Brooke find out who it is? Will she get her chance to show Koran her skills on the pod?
This was an enjoyable story line, letting humans get a chance to “shine” for the aliens. Grab your copy and see if they can find out who the traitor is before the damage is done!
Book one in the Alien Warrior Academy a well written story that kept me turning pages. Brooke and Koran's story of suspense, drama, danger, and romance. I want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have been waiting in anticipation of this ‘mini-series’ and I was NOT disappointed! Wow, wow, wowsie wow! Tana Stone is a fabulous author and I devour her books. ‘Rogue’ was exciting, suspenseful and romantic in perfect proportions. I held by breath throughout over the two main storylines thinking A was going to happen for sure only for B to happen [no spoilers from me]. I love Amanda’s ‘swearing’ so much I highlighted each one because I was laughing so hard. I will say for being so virginal Brooke sure jumped in with the enthusiasm of someone who had been around the block more than a few times...guess she was listening in to her brothers’ sharing deets over their exploits more than she let on. 😉Maybe ‘Rogue’ will lead Tana Stone in writing a series that only deals with Koran’s clan.....just a thought. I’d sure read them as fast as she can write them!
This was such a great book! Worth more than 5 stars, in my eyes! I just could not stop! Full of action, spies, a high speed chase, traitors and more.... I can not wait for the next book in the series!!

Once again Tana Stone delivers a fantastic sci-fi romance story. The world building was great, the characters well developed and the story was fast paced and entertaining.
Brooke Butler is one of the first group of humans to be sent to the Lokarian Warrior Academy for training to combat the Skrum. Her speciality is racing hovercraft. Koran is the pod racer instructor and a bit of a Lokarian bad boy. After she steals a pod to show off her skills, he removes her from class and gives her detention. They get into an argument and it turns to passion. Meanwhile the head of the academy finds out their is a traitor who is working with the Skrum. Brooke, Koran and her friend Carter find out who the traitor is and chase him when he tries to escape. Unfortunately they learn there is another traitor who is still at large. Cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
There is this what I just cannot understand - every single story I have read by this author is just fantastic. Now we have the first story in a new series, of course a SCI Fi - but the imagination this author has, just WOW. But back to the story. This one has a great set up and explanation as to set the settings for the future stories as well. It has a great storyline and just so fantastic characters. It was great fun to read this story and it is absolutely not possible to put the story down once you begin reading it, i.e. not until it is finished! Overall a fabulous story and well worth five stars.

This book is a different kind of an academy book. It’s based on an alien planet. Exciting and thrilling and the action has just begun. Characters were great and I really enjoyed this book
I absolutely LOVED this story!!! A Texas girl breaking rules?! Why I NEVER! This first book in a new series is absolutely amazing! A very stubborn girl, Brooke, decides to test her teacher when he treats her differently than the guys! She definitely shows him though! A story where love conquers all no matter and trust is all you have.
I loved this book, which is the start of a new series. I was already reading another book when I got this one, and I was so excited I had to put the other one down unfinished to read this, and I wasn't disappointed. I started it and couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, and enjoyed the great, imaginative storyline with some twists, intrigue and suspense, but light and easy to read. I did guess one plot twist early on, but this didn't effect my enjoyment, in fact might have increased my anticipation to see if I was right.
A slim female, tiny by Earth standards, in an alien warrior academy whose males make human males look puny? Great start! It’s interesting how the two main characters rub each other the wrong way, but are clearly each reluctantly attracted. There is also a lot of intriguing possibilities that makes you wonder who the true culprit can be. But when the action starts, you won’t be able to put this book down.
I reviewed this book as an ARC member. Rogue is the first book in the Alien Warrior Academy Series.
Flying at warp speed to an alien planet to learn how to defend earth. Only the top candidates from earth are eligible. The warrior Academy enlists humans in order to be able to defend earth against an invasion by the Skrum. The main lead characters are Brooke and Koran. Brooke grew up around hover bikes . She knows them inside and out. She is a more experienced rider and ranked top racer in this field. Koran who is the pod instructor at the academy, disses her abilities and refuses to let her ride with the rest of the class. Can these two resolve this inner conflict together? This is the first book I have read by Tana Stone. I love the way the characters have this instant chemistry. On or off a pod. Looking forward to the next book 😃

Freakin awesome. Loved it and couldn't read it fast enough. Drama, excitement, suspense action adventure emotion this book has it all. U will fall in love with the characters and hope they get their own story. Rich well developed characters. Highly recommended reading. I received an arc of this book and this is my honest review.
