The 12 Sectors #2

Her Broken Alpha

Rate this book
Naya was a good girl. She never argued or fussed, even when an archaic society demanded she choose a husband and marry.

She had done everything right... Hadn't she?

So how did she end up here, in the hell they called Sector 2?

Stolen from her home in the dead of night and thrown at the feet of a man that people only dared speak of in whispers, everything has gone horribly wrong in the blink of an eye.

Treachery brought them together, but fate would see them bound.

There was no escaping this crumbling kingdom once the mad monster set his mind, and his heart, on her.

This story is an epic fairy tale romance, where the beast finds his beauty in the most unlikely of places. It is set in a dystopian world where violence and sexual situations are a part of daily life. It features extreme themes unsuitable for some readers. Proceed with caution. No cliffhanger, and happily-ever-after guaranteed.

About the author

Isoellen

12 books819 followers
Isoellen is just your average, Gen-X'er who drinks too much coffee. Her first romance story was written in 1977 at 8 years old after seeing the movie Star Wars. She knew even then that a rogue on the wrong side of the law was a better mate than the boy on the hero’s journey.
The worlds she creates are violent and sensual, but her characters always find beauty in the decay and romance with intimacy. True love and happily ever after’s are guaranteed.
She is currently working on the 4th book in the 12 Sectors Series, Redeeming Her Alpha.

4 Smuttiest of Smut Scale Stars

This book was just outright smut and I loved every second of it. I really like this author and I enjoy her version of the omegaverse.

In this one, we jumped pretty quickly into the best parts of the story (estrous/haze, rut, etc.) and I love that it dealt with an anti-hero/villain of sorts as the H. I love it when an H is dark and brutal...and unflinching about it. And we definitely has that here.

Looking forward to more from this this author.

Update: Her Broken Alpha will be in KU April 22nd! Lol. I mean August 22nd.

This is a standalone with a hea. It takes place in the same world as Choosing Her Alpha, but can be read before or after it.

btw this is not Merrick's story. It's Kane's different brother, Darre's story. I've seen some reviews for Choosing Her Alpha thinking Merrick is in this one.

lol I said I was going to redo my review while reading the ARC, but I give up. haha. Here's the original review from when I read this on Wattpad.

4.5 stars

I’m raising this to five stars for personal reasons I’ll explain. Her Broken Alpha hit many sweet spots for me. I’m already having the urge to reread it…any book I want to reread gets bumped up a star. This might be one of the most charming Omegaverse stories I’ve read. Also, out of all the Omegaverse stories I’ve read Naya & Darre come across as the most likable to me. A warning: Not all will like Darre as much as I. I'm not sure others will find this story as charming as I did either. While reading Omegaverse, I've never wanted to be an Omega, but after reading Her Broken Alpha I’m a bit envious of Naya. I want to take Darre on. Give him a purr, see if I can manipulate him with my Omega traits and take any punishment he might dish out ;)

I really felt the connection between this couple; in fact I was overwhelmed by it (in a good way). The sex was smokin’ hot. I think this story has the first 69 scene that I’ve found hot instead of awkward, lol. If you start this story be prepared for a very smutty read! What made this book for me though was the world-building and character development. In Choosing Her Alpha, the heroine went through the largest character arc. In Her Broken Alpha while both characters go through significant character arcs, I felt Darre’s was the most profound. I enjoyed Naya’s journey just as much though.

There’s a good girl paired with a misunderstood bad boy trope here. What was refreshing was that Naya didn’t tame Darre – she accepted him. She was the good girl gone bad. Sort of like Sandy's transition towards the end of Grease. I loved it. In order to accept Darre, Naya had to question what she had been taught was the proper way to live versus what kind of life Darre could provide for her. Since this is Omegaverse, her biological instincts influenced her decisions.

Triggers:

Safety:

This is a standalone with a hea. It takes place in the same world as Choosing Her Alpha, but can be read before or after it.

This story along with Choosing Her Alpha will be taken down from Wattpad September 30th for editing and rewrites.

The author has mentioned she was inspired by Beauty and the Beast, and I see that in this story a little bit. I feel like Choosing Her Alpha was a Cinderella tale (Sasha found her Prince) while Her Broken Alpha was Beauty finding her Beast. I'm so happy to find an author whose willing to take the time to craft an interesting new world in the Omegaverse genre. She's taken the time to write a character-driven story. The character arcs in this story were touching, and I don't always see that in Omegaverse. I'm looking forward to reading the edited form of this story, and I'm grateful I caught this while still available on Wattpad.

Is this book perfect? Nope. As is on Wattpad it's slightly clunky in a couple areas. The ending is too abrupt, and I'm happy to hear she'll be adding an epilogue. The imperfections didn't get in the way of my enjoyment of the story whatsoever. I'm glad I got to experience it in its raw form before it goes through editing.

I freaking loved CHOOSING HER ALPHA because I feel like Isoellen really subverted a lot of the tropes that can make Omegaverse fiction so hard to read. In some ways, it was a lot like Zoey Ellis's CRAVE TO CONQUER, which I also liked, only with way less rape. Now, anyone who comes looking for Omegaverse books but feels uncomfortable with the literal torture porn element of some, I'm going to turn them to Isoellen, who actually makes an effort to have a heroine with agency and at least some sort of semblance of consent and/or care for the heroine's well-being (even if sometimes said consent comes out looking more like dub-con).

When I found out HER BROKEN ALPHA was out, I was so excited. It's been a while since I read a book where the sequel wasn't published and was anxiously awaiting the series countdown. I downloaded this the day it was released and fully expected to love it. And then... I found myself getting really bored, and setting this aside repeatedly, over and over, before trying to get back into it again and admitting to myself that it wasn't as good.

There are a couple reasons this didn't work for me. The hero swears so much. I don't even normally care about swearing (in fact, I've been known to swear quite a bit sometimes, myself), but everything in the book was fuckin' this and fuckin' that and it got really, really annoying. I also didn't love Naya as much as I loved Sascha. Sascha was such a bad-ass heroine and the author managed to make her heat actually really funny. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be funny, but I found myself chuckling at some of her antics. Naya was much more in line with the usual omega trope: childish, helpless, and naive.

I also didn't like the hero much. Not only is he in mourning for an OW, he's also much cruder than the hero in CLAIMING HER ALPHA. Brutish cavemen just really don't do it for me unless they're also suave and fiercely intellectual. I think that's why CLAIMING worked for me so well. Even though the hero was a dominant hero, he had elements of a "gamma hero": he could be conniving and ruthless. This hero is more like what you see in Motorcycle Club romances and badly written highlander romances: he's very crude, and the whole dynamic feels very "Me: Tarzan, You: Jane."

I was really disappointed with this book. Maybe I'll come back and finish it someday but probably not. Will definitely be checking out other work by this author, though. CLAIMING HER ALPHA is my favorite Omegaverse romance that I've ever read, and I know she'll be able to achieve that greatness again.

My Review
This one is now up for purchase on Amazon folks YAY!!!!

I loved this just as much as I did the first book by this author.
Her Broken Alpha is set in the same dystopian omegaverse world as choosing her Alpha and features Kane's brother the Mad Monster of Sector 2 Nothonal Darre who has been stuck in a permanent rut for years one that has almost driven him mad.
You don't need to have read the previous book for clarity and this can be read as a complete standalone.
This one, unlike its predecessor, is told in dual POV which I do prefer.
This had a slightly different flavour and was much more animalistic than the previous book and I really adored that factor about this.
This was also very fast burn and we jump swiftly into the action here.
So here Naya a privileged omega from sector 5 is preparing for her upcoming bonding when she is kidnapped from her bed and transported to the lawless sector 2 where Monster/Darre is the presiding Alpha and here she is presented to him as a gift.
The animal inside Darre instantly gravitates towards this small omega and with Naya’s own heat starting she’s all animal instinct as her inner omega recognises her true Alpha and they bond cementing there mating.
Monster is such a different character when compared to his brother Kane and this one is pretty graphic in terms of the blood and the violence.
I adored the contrast between how he was with others and then how he behaved towards Naya,
He was such a scary tyrant but then with his omega, he was so sweetly gruff and concerned but at the same time also so alpha attitude, be still my knees when he went all feral and growly.
In fact, I really appreciated all that feral dynamic here.
I enjoyed this may be slightly more than it’s predecessor and I definitely want to read more set in this fascinating world.
Finally, I loved that Naya accepted her monster for himself not asking him to change he was hers fully heart and soul the good and the bad included.
This was a five-star experience it’s all about the connection for me and this delivered in every way.
This author has such talent in her ability to craft a story and the way this managed to suck me in and immerse me fully in the unfolding drama that's a super-power all by itself.
Anything that can keep me that transfixed is a definite winner from my end.
so yep totally recommend this 100% got to
Be up there with my all-time favourites and I will be watching in pure appreciation to see what this author produces next.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Her Broken Alpha.

4 Sector of the Damned Stars ⭐

He is more monster than man. So far gone that his human side wagers for control. As the ruling Alpha of Sector 2, Darre is at home amongst the exile and ruins. Yet when he is gifted a stolen Omega Breeder, all rationality is gone. His monster is claiming the girl.

He’d been starving for this. Her taste was the answer to all his emptiness. She was his other half, and she would make him whole.

Once a princess in the final stages of being mated and wed till she was taken. Naya may have chosen someone else, but her mating heat has selected another. Good choice since Darre was staking his claim anyway.

She could hate him for it. He deserved hatred. Disgust. Conviction for his crimes. But instinct didn't care, didn't judge, didn't see any of that. Instinct said he was her alpha. The best alpha.

An omega in the throes of her heat and a man controlled by his madness. Talk about gasoline igniting. It was primal, lusty and rough (light BDSM). Everything the monster needed to remind him of his humanity. The perfect woman to tame him and remind him of the good in the world.

"Look at me. I want to see your emerald eyes, your pouty mouth. I dicked you so much I'm raw. I can't get enough of you."

The beauty of these stories is the escapism that the author beautifully creates. You feel the hardship of this dystopian world and the importance of love and affection. Something that cannot be bought or bartered. Her Broken Alpha has me wanting more!

4.5 stars for my first omegaverse book

First of all, I’m glad this is my first omegaverse book. No owd/cheating anywhere- which is what scares me with omegaverse. The H being promiscuous isn’t my thing, and Darre AKA Monster is the opposite 🥰. Second of all, he’s so protective and swoony, and I fell in love with him 🥰.

Naya is a good girl, a breeding omega that has always followed rules and is waiting to marry her friend since she’s nearing her mating cycle, which means her scent is changing and her body has already changed in preparation. All of a sudden, she gets abducted in the middle of the night and taken to a different sector, a sector she’s never been to, and she’s give to a monster, an alpha. But this monster is not as bad as he could be to her. Yes, he’s a killer/fighter, and he kills the men that enter the room when she’s in there as well, but he treats her with kindness, and softness, and has an immediate connection to her.

Because she’s an omega, she can’t help but answer his rattling purr and pheromones😅💦. She’s ready for him instantly… and then it’s on! 🥵🔥Oh sweet Jeeezus… this book was STEAMY!! Their bond is deeper than surface level, and I loooooove how protective Darre is with Naya 👏🏻those are the kind of men we want in our lives 🥰.

There’s betrayal, and twists and turns I suspected but didn’t see coming. Darre and Naya have to stick together in order to overcome them. I wish this was longer. The world building is pretty good! I hope I can read more book by this author, as long as the H is faithful and only cares/sees/wants the h (like Darre).

⚠️ safety squad ⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd
-slight omd when the h’s ex comes back into the picture (nothing happens)
-the H's had an omega he was previously interested in but it's quickly forgotten (the omega was given to another and then died). I didn't think anything of this and I don't consider it owd
-graphic killing happens
-the H punishes the h (for disobeying him). She second time was on the cruel side 😬

I forgot just how great this was!! So yummy, So dark, and So freakin' sweet at the same time. Gah!!

He moved his mouth closer to hers. She tried to turn into his lips, but he held her immobile. "No, not that. Don't you like your daddy's lap?"
She could feel the humor in his voice even if she didn't hear it in the sound.
"You are my monster, not my daddy,” she corrected him.

Where can I find a Monster?!

I loved this! I lurved this! All the dark twisted love was right up my alley. I liked this one better than the first. Yaaassss, Girl! Dang I'm kinda at a loss for what to say other than; this is great, READ IT NOW!!

The perfect soft to my hard, laughter to my growl.

Can I just say, **swoon**?

The author has taken the world of omegaverse, written a grumbly, growly, alpha male who is very VERY much in charge of things but given it softer edges and gentler mores. There are all the expected - required! - elements, such as bonding, knots and slick, but where some Alpha's seem to be all take and no give, Monster/Darre balanced his domination with incredible caring and gentleness.

His hands were perfection - big and rough. She was small and delicate in comparison. He gave her the gift of feeling infinitely cherished. It made her so happy, she felt as bright as the sun streaming into the room, as if she could glow forever and a day with the feelings he inspired.

Naya could so easily have been a weak as dishwater, doormat type character but somehow she wasn't. In fact she felt the exact opposite. I found her to be resilient, strong yet flexible, so as to whether the tempest that is her Alpha. I quite simply adored this pair and very much enjoyed their journey.

She ignored him as he growled and snapped at her. She wasn't one of those betas and drones frightened of his snarls. She'd given him her mark. She'd obey him, but she would not fear him.

The portrayal of their bond was so incredibly well done, not only convincing me of the depth of their feelings but also how perfectly suited they were for one another. Naya had spent her whole life pleasing others rather than being herself, and Monster had allowed a youthful loss to twist and warp his entire being. Together they found healing, found love, found acceptance and found the most wonderful of futures.

I'm not quite sure how Isoellen achieved it, but along with all the omegaverse tropes, this also had strong elements of romantic suspense about it. If you enjoy omegaverse, or are looking to try your first OV book, then this is one I'd happily recommend to one and all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.25 stars

This is my second favorite omegaverse novel of all time, behind, of course, Choosing Her Alpha by this same author. The only part I didn’t like was the last chapter before the epilogue, other than that it was great! So rich in the story and the world building is fantastic! I am really excited to see more from this series and this author!

Naya is a high born omega who finds herself in the hands of a monster. She is compassionate and strong. She can be demure, but also brutal.

Darre/Monster is the second son of the alpha king and banished for the second sector. He is still mourning the loss of an omega who was given to someone else and died. I really like that this wasn’t made into the whole story and that he was super realistic and reasonable about it, a rarity in literature.

I have been waiting for this book for months and it did not disappoint!

In conclusion, I would highly recommend this book for omegaverse and dark romance fans!

Her Broken Alpha is the sequel to Her Chosen Alpha. It is also set in the dystopian world and can be read as standalone. This book features Nothonal Darre, brother of Kane.

Naya is a quiet and calm girl who is very placate and agreeable to what her parents say. She does not consent to things she has to follow so she decides to marry an Alpha who won't contemplate picking fights and putting rules.
Darre is the mad monster of Sector 2 who has rebelled against taking a mate when his father has taken his chosen mate and ordered her to marry someone else. Darre is scarred and deformed. I like the descriptions of where he lives, to me his imperfectness makes him alluring.

Naya is mated to Alpha Darre who is so far different from the Alpha she was supposed to marry. She is demure but has violence. She fights with him and for him. Darre who is a broken beast is always angry and feral, he never expected taking a mate. He finds himself affectionate and protective of Naya. This is a wonderful story of a princess and her untameable beast in a best imaginative way.

Her Broken Alpha is the second book I have read from this author, and I loved it just as much as the first. Isoellen has created an Omegaverse that completely works for me. Although this one is much darker than book 1 and Sector 2 is the worst place for a young omega breeder to be, Naya was strong and once she's in the arms of her alpha her life changes forever. Darre is known as the Mad Monster, he is the second son of the King and has lost himself due to hate and his need for revenge. I'm not going to lie but I love damaged males. There is just something that melts my heart about them and when they find the female or male that suits them it's why I read romances. Although biology connects an Alpha and an Omega together, I love how it develops to a level that changes their focus forever. Overall although this one is a lot bloodier and harsher; I would definitely recommend it.

I rated my own book ... But what I really want to do is just leave you guys a message. I started edits on Her Broken Alpha. Yay!

But also if you fell in love with the Mad Monster - I am soliciting your help. I hope that's not against any rules....⭐⭐⭐I've found Nothonal Darre the Mad Monster of Sector 2 and he lives in Canada⭐⭐⭐

1. Would you pay to own a 10 minute audio - 1st person intimate and very naughty, moment with Darre talking to Naya?

2. If yes, would you be willing to help get Monster's attention?

3. Let me know! I've found the PERFECT alpha to narrate the Monster and the man. I just need to get his attention and let him know there is an audience waiting for his growl. You can listen to my podcast for more information.

After reading Choosing Her Alpha on Wattpad,i wanted to hear more of this world.
And,lucky me,there was another story in that same world on Wattpad as well!
Again, with the knowledge this one will be withdrawn for editing before being published on Amazon.
So,i wasn’t too bothered by any typos i found, and focussed on the story instead.
And what a story it was!

This one deals with a brother of Kane,Darre. Or Mad Monster,as he is called. One that was betrayed by their father,in his eyes,as his intended breeder mate was given to another. Living in a constant need to get his revenge on that father. Until a kidnapped omega breeder is thrown at his feet. As a “gift”. Naya was ready to mate with Crispin. Everything was ready. Until she finds herself kidnapped, drugged, and at the feet of an alpha that is more ALPHA than anyone she ever met.....
In a haze, she finds him perfect. Once her head clears, she finds him hers. And she finds herself his....
But he lives in a dangerous world, with enemies everywhere....

Again,i was glad i found this story just in time. I can’t wait to read more of this author,on Wattpad if possible......

If the first story in this series was an omegaverse Cinderella reimagined, than this one is definitely Beauty and The Beast. Knotting, purring, growling, hissing, claiming, and lots of shared fluids. This book has cage fighting, brutal violence, and very detailed animalistic sex that begins early in the story.

Naya, daughter of Ratmhir Zell, is a innocent, sheltered omega from the wealthy district. She has chosen the alpha she will mate with. He is gentle and kind, just what she believes she wants. Fortunately for Naya, her plans are turned upside down.

This story is animal magnetism on steroids.
He was larger than most alphas, had claws, sharper teeth, keener senses, and a highly developed precognitive instinct. Not to mention he had a nasty temper and a big ol' malformed penis.
Yup, you read that correctly. This book is deliciously filthy.
"I dicked you so much I'm raw. I can't get enough of you."
Mad Monster, Nothonal Darre, the Administrator Prime of Sector 2, (the King's second born son) is a Jekyll and Hyde kind of character, with a beast buried within. I love Monster, he's the ultimate of pure instinct and raw male power. We have three different pov in this story, and Monster was my favorite. I adore how she chooses

This book is a bit rape-y. Just go in prepared. There is some violent, painful sex that wasn't all that enjoyable to read about. That whole "I'm gonna punish you because you misobeyed me" BS that just pisses me off. There is also a very unhygienic use of ginger root.

Highly recommend to fans of monster romance. It's a brutal, sweet, beast claiming beauty and she claims him right back kinda story.

❗TWs and some spoilers:

This OV world is so hopelessly dark and sector 2 is the worst of the filth this OV world has to offer. I don't mind a bleak setting, I gather the stomach for it and only explore such books sparingly these days but my problem was with the MMC. When the world created is harsh, there needs to be a balance with something softer and hope-giving considering the fact that this is a romance, not erotic horror. Darre (H) was someone I thought I could like for his dynamics with the FMC but after he used anal r*pe as punishment (maybe this is dubcon or noncon, to me it's noncon since the FMC says no + anal as punishment is a bitchass rotten move) I had to quit it. He was already on my shit list for being in CHARGE of sector 2 where any and every woman gets r*ped anywhere and everywhere so it was already hard to excuse a man for his negligence due to whatever personal issues (which imo didn't warrant any of this) while being in charge of a whole goddamn sector. I thought Kane was bad from book 1 - but he was ethical from what I saw when it came to some policies he created/was in charge of. He was on my shit list for having nothing more than lust towards his FMC.
Expected more from Darre, and it looked promising when reading his POV - but nope. This world has MMCs who don't have a thing to think of of their FMCs beyond biology and raw lust. Fuck that, I deserve better books. I thought I could stick around for the big reveal on who betrayed the FMC (and I'm not ruling out skimming through this book to get my info) but for now this cat will take her curiosity elsewhere.

Please read TWs if you ever want to pick these books up.

Spoilers ahead

Reread

The H is known as the mad monster of sector 2 but he's actually the second born son of the king and thus the brother of Kane from book 1. Many years ago he had his heart set on a mate but she went into heat while he was away and his father helped her get a new Alpha. The H was heartbroken at his father's further betrayal and the loss of his mate. He moved to his sector where he's been gathering men to eventually strike against the king, unfortunately the situation with his former mate left him in a permanent rut.....bringing his monster to the forefront. Now Darre has sharpened teeth, claws and the strength of multiple Alphas. While his life isn't comfortable he's ok with his lot....until a foolish beta brings a kidnapped prize to his door.

Naya is a prized Omega breeder, properly reared from a good family. She's chosen a gentle Alpha as her mate and is awaiting her estrus to go forward with the claiming. Waking up in a box is the last thing she expected. Kidnapped, drugged and delivered to a monster Naya finds herself mated to the last man she'd ever expected.

********
Eh I didn't like this one so much, I don't like dead exes in my romances and the H had planned to stay as he was, devoted to a dead woman who'd chosen another. As a matter of fact his monster was the one to claim the h not him, making it even harder for me to trust the connection between him and the h.
The h was quiet and biddable her whole life in a good well off home so its a vast difference to life with the monster. She's almost a complete opposite of the h of book 1 and unfortunately coming from that book to this one made it glaringly obvious. I really wish she had more of a backbone.
The H was a bit too controlling for me, I dig bossy but he was a bit too much. His punishments didn't even make sense to me, I wonder if the author forgot the h was pregnant???
All in all had the h mated the monster and not the man I'd have been a happy camper.

No cheating
Spanking as discipline
Omegaverse
Virgin h
H hadn't had sex in years
Lots of gruesome violence(some of my favorite parts lol)

**********I'm definitely interested in more books in this series and from this author. I saw she planned to give Merrick from book 1 his own story and I almost threw up in my mouth! The things he did in book 1 omg how do I forgive that????! Nooooooooooooo.

I'm here for the kings other sons getting stories tho I'm curious about the family

I like it more than book #1.

We have a real antihero here, and he was bad, really bad.

That their first scene together?
It will make a horror movie director proud! 😳🥴😆

It more bloody than book #1, and Darre, is really a bad hero, well except to the heroine and his trusted men.

But, I give him a pass after learning about his life before met Naya, and she change him a little bit.
However even though this story a bit gruesome, I found this book quite funny sometimes, no idea why. Perhaps my sense of humor is rather weird! 😂

I recommend this series if you want to read Omegaverse:)

Darre and Naya-(my namesake😇)
are explosive here throughout this entire book! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵.. From the moment they meet in chapter 3, until the Epilogue.. just wow 💞🥵🥵

This one was way better than book 1 in its execution of the plot and the intensity of the characters and what was going on around them. Just incredible..

Book one I did like, but many things were not revealed until the last 18% of that book, and the Epilogues. Things that could have been learned/revealed much sooner than this.. With this book two, yes, truths become known in the last few chapters, but this was organic and by design, considering where the story takes you.. The mystery and suspense keeps you captivated NOT frustrated. That's what made this follow up a great read for me.

And Darre/Monster 👀😯😲😳🤯🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 YES! And then some.

And I love witnessing Naya's evolution here, especially in the Epilogue regarding her family.

I was more than satisfied with the reveals of who the villains were and why. But I did want more.. of something, just more than what we got regarding Darre with his father and brother. What was given was alright, but the outcome and circumstances of such things and what those things reduced Darre to, I wanted more vindication on his behalf.

Other than that this was a great read IMO. Book one does explain ALOT of things regarding what you'll witness here in book two, so I would advise that you read book one first..

I will most likely not be reading the Novella, Her True Alpha, that was published a couple years after this book two.. It's about Phee, Naya's sister. I don't like this female. If you read book 2, you'll know why..
She's to be true bond mated, I guess, to Alreck, an Alpha under Darre's employ. He seems rather unremarkable to me though as well..

I would still recommend books 1 and 2. Please read in order

The sex to story ratio was way out. It’s probably about 80% sex and normally this would be an issue for me. I like a balance between them. That said this worked. I love the world that’s been created here and I just adored Darre. Naya also once she’d settled. I was a little worried in the beginning with the quiet girl and her choice of alpha. But the way this played out was excellent.

I’m not saying more I don’t want to spoil anything.

Just waiting for the next one now…..

There’s not a damn thing wrong with this book (other than a few grammatical errors) !!!

It’s a dark M/F Omegaverse with brooding and breeding 🤌🏼 and maybe even part monster fckr 🤷🏻‍♀️which just makes it even better.

Proper polite virgin FMC gets thrown into the lair of a half man/ half monster ruler of the slummiest, filthiest, most vile sector of the 12—AND THEY ARE SO STINKING CUTE TOGETHER!!!!!!

Tons of smut, some betrayals, and the most adorable HEA.

If you don’t like any of the above…don’t read it. Go find a YA fantasy or something.

The writing was weird as hell. I still don't know if it's in a bad or good way.

And wtaf was that punishment at the end😭. I HATED IT. Not only was it senseless, but a butt-plug in her ass? ginger in her pussy?? a flogger? it was like dousing myself in cold water.

Quick reread to prepare for Alreck's novella. I still enjoyed this, but I think it will come down to your mood. The plot is simpler and more smut based, and the relationship dynamic has a heavier Omegaverse influence. Basically, Darre is a super alpha, so his way is law. I personally never found Naya wimpy, I read a lot of PNR, and their relationship is very nature based.... but I could see where other readers could feel that way. (submitting to her alpha)

I'm a sucker for the villain getting the girl, so I enjoyed how nurturing she was but wish there would have been a smidge of pushback. Like maybe pouting a little after he punished her after she saved his life. 🤷‍♀️ I'm interested to see were the political/bitter Betas side plot goes.

*****Original review*****
I enjoyed her last book Choosing Her Alpha, so I grabbed this when I saw it on my GR feed. I was surprised that is was Nothonal Darre’s story, because I felt like the epilogue in the last book was hinting at a Merrick’s story, but maybe she’s going through the birth order. Darre is the second oldest behind Constantine Kane, there’s at least another brother (Sebastian Maxis) and a sister.

Darre is the leader of the outlaw Sector 2 that has been cut off from the other sectors, because he refused to instate the new laws forbidding slaves, breeder laws, etc. So, it’s cut off behind a wall with no electricity, no modern sewage system. The water has to be farmed, (rain water collected) and there’s very little decent food.

Naya is from the wealthy Sector 5, and lives a privileged life. She’s already selected her mating partner, a not very alpha/wimpy alpha, and is just waiting for her heat to finalize it. (most couples enter into a reversible marriage contract rather than fully bond) She’s kidnapped and wakes up with Darre.

This one is completely different from Choosing Her Alpha; the two MC’s relationship takes the front seat, and they are bonded pretty quickly, so there’s A LOT more sexytime. I liked how strong and supportive Naya is at trying to tame “Darre’s monster” she was a great heroine. Darre has issues, because he embraced his animal side several decades earlier. There’s also a more action-y subplot that helps move the plot along.

Bottom Line My rating is for the genre, so if paranormal, violence, knotting, slick, and growling isn’t your thing….Skip it… I’m also invested in this family, so I’m probably a smidge biased. **safety- both are somewhat impaired during the first coupling, but neither regrets it. There’s one “punishing scene” that borders on cruel, but there’s aftercare, and no bad feelings. No OW/harem issues at all.

I’m leaving a few notes for me, so I don’t have to re-read each time a new book is released. Some of these are SPOILERS

I am a bit confused and conflicted.
Maybe because I've wandered far far from my usual fare. Dystopia and omegaverse is certainly distant galaxy or sector to me. (Sector 2 being our Broken Alpha/Monster/Broken Prince's normal abode.)
Also I did not care for the general aura of abuse and subjugation. But then that's this genre's accepted code. Not quite my first omegaverse but still it's relatively new to me. I knew bdsm, I knew shapeshifters, I knew space-rom and then there is this alpha-omega thing. Where poor betas are so superfluous.

But still, the h/H entertain.

Really enjoyed this one.
Loved the heroine and the connection between the MCs was stronger than in the previous book, mostly because they actually spent time together on page.

I was first introduced to this book on Wattpad and was absolutely amazed. Isoellen is a fabulous upcoming new author and when she stated she was actually publishing this series - I was so happy!

The wait from when this book was taken down from Wattpad until the newly published release has been such a wait. I have hungered for this book so so much, and when I had the opportunity to be gifted this in an ARC I ofc has to one-click that! <3

Darre and Naya's story is beautiful. The 'Broken Prince' of Sector 2 is def. one of my favourite book boyfriends. hehe.
This is a dystopian setting - with the many dystopian tropes. Sector 2, in particular, is a very dangerous, rough and hard place to exist in.
Darre is nothing like any Alpha that Naya has ever met. He is alpha incarnate, a strong leader, deadly - and a loss in the past has altered his appearance. He's more...beastly...more...intuned...with his inner Alpha.

But he is just the kind of Alpha that Naya needs and wants. And as it turns out - even monsters have a heart. And as Naya so nicely put it - he is HER Monster.

The book is well written, it flows nicely. It's got intrigue, surprises, action, love, betrayal and more.
I could not put it down! And I can't wait for more! Because surely...there must be more?! <3
The character development is spot on, and the world-building is very good.

I highly recommend this book!

Spousal abuse anyone?

I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was excited to start this one. Boy, I could barely finish this sh*t. Not all like the relationship between Kane and Sasha in the first book. The dynamic between Darre and Naya is incredibly toxic, with highly questionable consent at times - the last chapter made my want to throw my Kindle out the window. Darre says Naya is his treasure, well he must mean treasure in the sense of a useless trophy one sticks on the shelf. She's basically a blow up sex doll that he gets to push around whenever he's feeling insecure with his own masculinity. And Naya JUST TAKES IT. She's described as a strong female, but I literally saw maybe one instance where that was true (then she goes and sets that effort on fire by letting her 'mate' torture/punish her for her bravery). Sasha was a way wayyyy better female lead, not just following Kane around like some sad, brainless nitwit who can't think an inch past her lady parts. Where was the witty reparte? The emotional connection? All I got out of this was a desperate female that allowed her partner to abuse her and treat her like a half-witted child because she needed the D.

I actually like this one better than the Constantine book (which was Choosing Her Alpha).

We got a mad alpha, living in the tower of Sector 2, which was the bad impoverish sector. He was the star of this book. My god, I have a thing for mad crazy possessive hero that only bends for his woman. That's my jam, forever and ever.

And the heroine. Not bad. Not bad at all. I thought she would be meek and all submissive. But she got guts. I love that we were not the audience of angsty dub-con I-don't-want-you-but-my-body-says-yes kinda situation. I just love the way this story progressed.

This was a very satisfying “monster wants the girl, so he tempts her to claim him” story. Set in a dystopian omegaverse, the story was dark and brutal at times, but the relationship between Naya and Darre was exactly what I wanted — lots of “mine!” moments in both directions. I loved how unexpectedly ferocious Naya was whenever she thought someone was attacking Darre. Meanwhile, he was wringing out orgasms left and right, and feeding her by hand like she was a baby bird. Yep, exactly what I wanted. 😆

The pacing was a little off at the end, and I could have done without the punishment scene, but overall this was a really addictive read… and I will probably reread at some point.

Omegaverse, how do I love thee...

Innocent Omega stolen out of her bed on the eve of her bonding ceremony, only to wake up bonded to an OTT j/p Monster alpha. 👀 Yum. 😍

What I loved:

Monster. He's my flavor of dirty boy. 😏

That about sums it up. 🤷🏼‍♀️

{If you're not into spanking, bodily fluids, dubcon, controlling aggressive claimy Heros, informal BDSM, and just general filth, this book is not for you.}

Bottom Line? It's very likely I'll revisit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
