ARC provided by the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Janie Crouch is amazing at taking material that would fill 400+ pages for another author and making that material super suspenseful and so romantic all under 300 pages. Leverage has everything it needs and nothing it doesn't.

Dylan lost his wife and unborn child 6 years ago. He quit his job at Omega Sector and put his emotions in a deep freeze. He has been asked to bring computer code to Omega Sector that deals with a terrorist attack.

Shelby is a kid's computer game genius, she is also a math savant who can keep numbers in her head like nothing else. In reviewing the code for a kid's game she sees and retains the code for a terrorist plot. She has the code in her brain. Omega Sector needs her in Washington D.C. as soon as possible. That is a problem for Shelby. She doesn't like people and rarely leaves her home.

Dylan at first thinks he is just going to get a disk or a drive from Shelby with the code on it. He doesn't know she has the code in her brain. Spending dinner with Shelby, Dylan had a hot connection with her, which he shuts down immediately when he learns she is going with him. Shelby chalks his abrupt change from hot to stone cold to something she said or did and is hurt and disheartened that opening herself up got her shot down.

Someone is out to kill Shelby to prevent her from getting the information she has to Omega Sector and Dylan has to protect her, but who is going to protect Dylan from Shelby? All along the way Dylan blows hot and then cold. Shelby has no idea what his true feelings are and is sure he is still in love with his dead wife and that he is just using her for sex.

This fourth book in Janie Crouch's Omega Sector series is a solid read that brings the series to a close with the story of the oldest Branson sibling, Dylan. He is a former Omega operative who (some years ago) saw his pregnant wife shot by criminals, the occasion in which he lost both his wife and his unborn child. This is a lot of baggage to carry around for years, and Dylan has resisted making anything close to a relationship outside his immediate family.

The heroine, Shelby Keelan, is a whiz programmer of children's and others' game systems. She noticed a hidden threat programmed into a game by highjackers intent on doing damage as terrorists, most likely the group DS-13.

Various attempts on her life, even before she met Dylan, have not been registered by Shelby, a true introvert and agoraphobic. And so the race is on for Dylan to get her to Omega headquarters, where all his siblings work and where the computer exists that can analyze the sequence of numbers that Shelby has locked into her memory.
Danger and the certain knowledge that a mole exists within Omega keeps the action moving.

I liked this book but not as well as the previous ones in the series. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's because of the way Dylan's loss of his wife and unborn child played out at the end of the book. I do not want to give spoilers, because the story deserves to be read without other readers being sidetracked by one reviewer's sensibilities.

Having said this, I heartily plan to read future stories by Janie Crouch. She does write good stories!

Dylan left his job at Omega Sector after a devastating personal loss and ended up opening up his own charter service while retreating from life to essentially fight his emotional wounds. Yet he continued to help out his siblings, and by happenstance Omega Sector, when emergency called...leading to his latest job. Meeting his sister in law’s best friend to obtain a very important set of codes and fly them back to base.

Dylan and Shelby were quite the pair! He’s a loner by choice and she’s one by necessity, however, the connection between them was undeniable. Much to Dylan’s distress, Shelby brought his feelings back to life and he fought tooth and nail in denial. The emotional journey these two faced was just as tough as the physical and I have to say I was left on the edge of my seat wondering how these guys were going to end up on both matters!

Secret was previously released as Leverage with Harlequin Intrigue.

I received an advance reader copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Terrific book and conclusion to the initial Omega Sector series. I loved the romance between Dylan and Shelby, and the buildup of suspense was excellent. Dylan used to work for Omega Sector, just like his siblings, but left when his wife and unborn child were murdered. Now he runs his own chartered flight business, lives out in the boonies, and spends as little time with people as he can. He's not happy when his former boss asks him to deliver some computer codes to DC, but he gives in.

Shelby is a genius at anything having to do with numbers. She has a photographic memory for them, no matter how many there are. She develops computer games for kids, and when she discovered some terrorist-linked code in a game, she called on her friend Megan Fuller-Branson, who works at Omega. She needs to get those codes to DC, where Megan can decipher them, and that means leaving her safe haven and depending on someone else.

I loved both Shelby and Dylan. Shelby is very much an introvert and always has been, which made her childhood with an extrovert mother miserable. She needs her space, and being around other people and (gasp!) having to talk to them, freaks her out. She isn't much for social chit-chat and tends to be very direct when she does talk. She is also pretty insecure about her ability to relate to other people. I loved being able to get to know Dylan better. He has appeared in earlier books, usually in support of one of his siblings, even though he's no longer an operative. His love for his family is obvious, but so is his reluctance to let anyone else get close to him.

I loved the development of the relationship between Dylan and Shelby. There were sparks between them from the start. During that first dinner at the diner, their connection was obvious. Shelby found it amazingly easy to talk to Dylan, something that never happens to her. Dylan enjoyed talking to her, even indulging in a little flirtation, thinking that she would be gone in a couple of hours, after giving him the codes to deliver. His dismay at finding out that the codes were in her head, and he had to take HER with him, caused a sudden chilling of his attitude. I ached for Shelby, who was certain she had done something to deserve it. He knows he's being a jerk, but can't seem to help himself. This happens several times throughout the book, as they draw closer, then he pulls back again. Shelby's frustration with him is understandable, and I wanted to shake him senseless. In spite of his conflicted feelings, Dylan's protectiveness was pretty sweet. I loved how he understood her quirks and stepped in whenever he saw her begin to be overwhelmed. I ached for Shelby as her feelings for Dylan grew, and he continued to fight his. He was unintentionally cruel at one point near the end but redeemed himself quite nicely. His big moment at the end was super sweet and romantic in his way.

The suspense of the story was great. The idea of terrorist codes embedded in a computer game doesn't seem far-fetched these days, so that felt real. Shelby's gift of a photographic memory for numbers also seems quite possible. The tension began quickly with the two attempts on Shelby's life before she even got to Dylan. His quick thinking over her stay in the motel gave added impetus to their need to get to DC. With the sabotage of the plane, Dylan's suspicions about a mole at Omega appeared to be confirmed and reinforced by what happened a short time later. I loved the way the Bransons and their other halves banded together to get Shelby where she needed to be. I was on the edge of my seat as she and Megan worked to solve the puzzle, all the time wondering about the mole. The final confrontation was intense, as was the threat to Shelby and Megan's lives. I loved Shelby's role in saving them both. Though the mole's identity wasn't a surprise, some of the details were pretty amazing.

I loved having all of the couples from the previous books involved in this one. The friendship between Megan and Shelby was great. They are so different, and yet their understanding and acceptance of each other was beautiful. The love and respect between the siblings was strong, yet none of them had any trouble calling each other out when they were being idiots. Dylan (deservedly) was the focus of that most often in this book. The best scene with any of the siblings was the one between Sawyer and Megan as he left to help get rid of the bomb. It was one of the most romantic things I've seen in any book.

I love this series! And I have to admit, Dylan and Shelby just got to me, they are characters that are easy, for me, to relate to. Shelby has some quirks that made me smile with understanding, the need to be alone, needing your space, being too direct and not a fan of chit-chat, and loving numbers, having sass... She is amazing!
Dylan is a bit of a grouch, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, protecting himself from getting close to people, since his wife and unborn baby died. But he does redeem himself in the story, and there are several swoon-worthy moments, that just made me sigh. Dylan's better qualities come through loud and clear as well, his loyalty, protectiveness, caring and wanting to fix things for others.
The other Branson siblings from the previous stories also play a part in this book, and Sawyer & Megan have a moment that just melted my heart. This book is easy to be read as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend also the previous books in the series.
The story has a flow that caught me from the start and certainly kept it till the end. The build-up in the tale is smooth, from the moment Dylan and Shelby meet, the connection is there, the chemistry is in place, and they just click, feel comfortable, at home, within each other's company.
Then the suspenseful tension takes a hold of the story and keeps building up, as Dylan and Shelby found themselves again and again in life and death situations on their way to DC, and end up at the mercy of the wilderness. All the events, and murder attempts, prove, that Omega Sector does have a mole, and he is most likely high up in the hierarchy. It takes all the Branson siblings, with the help of Megan and Shelby, to risk their lives while fighting against the horrid terror attack about to happen.
I was swept away by this story, both times I read it. It has fast action, slowly building terror, fascinating and charming characters, and some of the best romantic scenes, that even with the second reading left me in tears!

I loved reading this book....from the very first I was drawn into caring about the characters and found it hard to put the book down. Our hero, Dylan, is a former operative of a multitask-force that makes a habit of saving the day. When a mission went bad, it cost him the life of his wife and child. Ever since, it was just easier being a loner than risking his heart again and having it ripped to pieces. But when asked to deliver codes hidden inside a kids video game that happened to be a countdown to disaster, Dylan figured a quick flight to Omega and back wouldn't take up much of his time. He should of known that anything that concerned Omega was not what it seemed. As soon as he met Shelby, the programmer with the codes, he knew she was trouble. And as if the bad guys chasing them, attempts on their life, and time running out wasn't enough, he kept putting his foot in his mouth and driving a wedge between them....but he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
.........
This story is part of Janie Crouches Omega Sector series, and while you don't have to read the past books of the series to enjoy this one, it was fun to revisit a few of the characters introduced in the past books. I loved watching Dylan and Shelby work together and the strength they showed. Danger, double-cross, intrigue, and romantic push and pull....this one has it all. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Awesome action story and a fantastic end to the series. Dylan Branson worked for Omega, but, after the death of his wife and unborn child, he quit and started his own pilot business and keeps to himself. Shelby Keelan doesn't do well around a lot of people and works in solitude on computer games. Dylan is hired to deliver computer codes to Omega, the codes in Shelby's photographic mind. Their attraction grows throughout the story, but can they allow someone else in their lives? I love Dylan's protective instincts and Shelby's fierce determination. I loved this book and the series.

Shelby has sinister codes she found in a children’s video game, and Dylan has the critical mission of getting her to the Omega main computer where the codes can be deciphered. Unfortunately, someone is determined to stop them - by any means necessary. Secret has action, mystery, and sweet romance all rolled up together in an exciting thriller! I particularly liked the realistic dialogue, the wonderful characters, and the non-explicit love scenes. What more could you want?!

I loved this book. I was worried Shelby and Dylan wouldn't make it to Omega Sector.

Neither Dylan nor Shelby was looking for love. After losing his wife and unborn baby, Dylan couldn't face losing someone again, it was safer for him to be alone. Shelby didn't think love was in the cards for her. She liked being alone and didn't like having to make small-talk, so she just stayed away from people.

Dylan was picking up some codes and flying them to Omega Sector. Nobody told him the codes were in Shelby's head, so he had to take her to Omega. Saying he wasn't happy about that would be an understatement. Somebody didn't want the codes delivered and would do anything to stop her. Even trying to kill her.

I chuckled when Dylan tried to fight his attraction to Shelby by shutting her out. He made her feel bad, then he felt bad for making her feel bad. He was definitely sending her mixed signals.

Great story. It had danger, action and romance. Romantic suspense fans will love it.

I received a copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Secret (Omega Sector)

This was an amazing conclusion to this Omega Sector series with Dylan flying Shelby to Omega Sector building with secret codes she memorized from a video game that were critical to get there because it had a deadline. She already survived two attempts on her life. After taking off Dylan's airplane was sabotaged with both engines flaming out. Shelby and Dylan had similar personalities and liked solitude so these circumstances they had to face was a real challenge for them. Dylan landed the plane safely with Shelby saving his life by getting them out of the burning wreckage. This was just the beginning of their adventure with the help of his family they overcame several more attempts to kill her repeatedly on the way to Omega and Megan who was going to help Shelby decipher the code in her head. This was an action packed romance with the whole Branson family getting their happily ever afters. Shelby and Dylan actually found they were soul mates meant to be together forever. I highly recommend this series of books.

After reading more than 20 of her books, I think I’m right in my assumption that Janie has told similar stories but found ways to modify them and given new twists.

I think any other moment, and I would’ve laughed at EVERY SINGLE TIME Dylan stuck his foot in his mouth, and possibly felt glad Shelby kept forgiving him but today was not that day and even if he groveled and she didn’t actually just let it go, I disliked him just a tiny little bit for being so stubborn.

I did like how Megan and Shelby complement each other. I also loved how Jules seemed even more badass. And am OBSESSED with Sawyer and his new everything.

Didn’t know this was the second Omega Sector installment, so I’m off to the next one.

If you’re wondering what previous books this one reminds me of: Hero’s Flight and Bree and Tanner’s series. Not a bad combo, it just didn’t strike as hard when you’ve sorta read something like this before.

Great ending to the Omega Sector series. Finally pulled the last loose thread laid out in the first book. Awesome ending. A harrowing romp through the wilderness, hiding from the bad guys, even though you didn't know who the bad guys are. Intriguing romance between the final Branson brother and Megan's friend. Great psychological insight about holding on to things from our past and how we make them better in our memory than they have been in reality. Enjoy this final Omega Sector Book, but now looking at the next Janie Crouch series, Omega Sector: Critical Response.

Dylan and Shelby need each other to save thousands and hopefully find everlasting love

Janie Crouch's fourth book in this series does not disappoint. Shelby, a loner and video game programmer, finds disturbing code in a game that points to a countdown to a planned disaster. Dylan, a pilot still holding on to his past mistakes, is commissioned to get her to Omega Sector Headquarters. Her college friend Megan works for Omega and is married to Dylan's brother Sawyer. Can they get there before a terrorist group finds and eliminates them? Is love in their future?

Dylan used to work at Omega until a mission goes wrong and his wife and child are killed. We meet Kylan first when he fly's Sophia out of harms wat for Cameron in Stealth. He is asked to deliver a package to Omega that turns out to be Shelby who is a video game creator and comes across a coded message of a terrorist attack. There's suspense, action, twists and turns that will keep you reading till the end. Great way to end the series.

Dylan and Shelby's story was very good. I felt for Dylan with the plight he has been on. Shelby has her quirks she has had to deal with as well. Dylan believes he is retrieving important codes to get to Omega Sector for his sister in law, but little does he know the codes are in Shelby's head.

miscommunication is the bane of my existence. how in the world do they have time to fuck but not for one fucking conversation to talk out where they stand and their mindsets?
but Shelby was a good character i guess. Dylan was an idiot but we already knew that.
