With his dimpled grin and devilish charm, firefighter Gavin Bailey is hot as a five-alarm fire and twice as dangerous. The youngest of five brothers, he’s the daredevil of the family. Until the unexpected strikes and he finds himself sidelined.
Skylar Stanley’s life didn’t just fall apart. It exploded. Spectacularly. Dropped by her publisher and her agent, and dumped by her boyfriend, she suddenly has no place to live and a career circling the drain. She comes home to the quirky, feuding small town she hasn’t lived in since Kindergarten to pick up the pieces. And hopefully find her mojo.
Gavin would happily help Skylar get her groove back—in and out of the bedroom—except for one big problem. Her dad is Gavin’s boss, mentor, and the closest thing he’s ever had to a father.
As much as Gavin loves racing headlong into danger, Skylar is a risk of a different kind. One that he’s determined to avoid.
But the line between friends and lovers gets awfully blurry, and Gavin just might find the one thing that truly scares him.
Losing her.
Author’s note: The wild child of the Bailey clan meets his match in a shy writer who’s braver than she thinks. A sexy, feel-good story with pranks and shenanigans, Bailey-style brotherly love, a rescue kitten, plus delightfully dirty fantasies come true and a happily ever after that will make your heart burst with sunshine and rainbows.

Lmao ok that's too harsh. This book was good! Not great, not bad, just good.
The characters were great but the writing was just... a lil goofy. I loved Gavin and Skylar together, they had great chemistry, and I liked the way their relationship developed. But then on the other hand we'd have Skylar’s internal monologue say Gavin was "trouble" 10 times in the span of a 5 minute conversation.
I spent the whole time reading like this:
Also! My educated opinion is that Skylar is autistic and you can't change my mind!!!!! And even there, the writing is weird. Girl has very intense sensory processing issues, but the author chose to use one of them as her clothes stimulate her too much so she gets??? horny?/?? what on earth...
Is it so wrong to want to read about a relationship that isn’t just built on attraction? Obviously they’ve got to like what they see, but why do so many books have to start off with “he/she was the hottest guy/girl I’ve ever seen in my entire life” and then they can’t hold themselves back from wanting to get in each other’s pants. Where’s the angst? The build up? The deep shit? Ughhhh —- I feel like this book would have been awesome if it was just a bit deeper in the relationship department.
The characters were solid and fun enough to read about… they had interesting personalities, hobbies and issues they were each dealing with… plus the story in itself was good enough - fun setting, good pacing yada yada yada - but the romance felt really flat and surface level to me and I just didn’t really care for it… I honestly liked her parents second chance side story romance more than her and Gavin’s relationship (which is really saying something considering I generally hate second chances)
Also, I didn’t really mind Skyler, but she did have this weird thing going on where’d she’d get aroused when she’s anxious, in large crowds or in a hyper sensitive situation… and it was pretty weird to me - especially because she shared that tid bit of information with Gavin very randomly at a party and then it was basicly used to just push the attraction/sexual action between them… and I was just like ‘okayyyy’.
So overall, not a bad book if you don’t mind when the romance and their connection is mainly built around lust and hormones - unfortunately I personally don’t love that… but if you do, then you’ll probably have a great time with this story.
Get Ready to feel all the Cookies!!! The 4th installment in the Bailey Brothers series did NOT disappoint. As the youngest Bailey Brother Gavin aka otter had no fear then he gets "hit" by the Chief's daughter blowing into town. Skylar trying to find her place when her life imploded leaving her to wonder how she would move forward. She didn't make friends easily she was shy and always in her head and it also didn't help that her dumbf of a ex cheated on her and left her with out any care.
Skyler or sparrow spends a lot of time with Gavin and they become fast friends and maybe more. It may take something to happen for Gavin to realize his true feelings for Skyler but trust in the story that it all ends up in a HEA.
You also find out more about what's going on with the discovery of Bailey/Haven Feud and the secret letters and a treasure?
Lets also talk Cara and #CaraKarma I think this is possibly my favorite character written for a female, you know she's got some turmoil and issues but she's always a bada$$ and helping others. She's "adopts" Skyler like she did for Fiona.
All I have to say is it better be Cara next....do you hear me Claire!!!!!
Awwwww…Gavin!! I had a sneaky feeling that he was going to end up being my favourite Bailey and I wasn’t wrong. The youngest of the brothers grew up good, and boy, does he have a dirty mouth 🤤🔥
I absolutely adored Skylar and I think this was largely in part because I was able to relate to her so well. She was “normal”, she suffered with anxiety and she was a little socially awkward; I saw so many parts of myself in her. She brought Gav to his knees and wasn’t afraid to take what she wanted when it came to him.
I’ve loved all the characters in this series but I have to give a special mention to Gram! She the one holding the whole family together and she’s a wise old bird.
I’m whizzing through these book but starting to become extremely aware of the fact I’ve only got one left (until Levi’s book comes out) so, I’m going to slow down slightly and savour Logan and Cara’s story. Then when I’m done…I might go back to the very beginning and read them all again.
~ “He’d pushed me out of my comfort zone in so many ways. He hadn’t set out to show me I was brave, but he had. Because that was the thing, when I was with him, I did feel brave. It was like he sucked all the fear out of the room and made it disappear.”
<><>Story Overview<><>
^^ ~ Skylar was shocked to find out her boyfriend of three years had been cheating on her for the past year. For her, all signs pointed to a wedding, but clearly the ex didn’t have the same goal in mind. The bigger issue is Skylar’s ex was also her literary agent, which means he’s also terminating their professional relationship. So Skylar calls her dad and heads to Tilikum to regroup.
Gavin is having an epic day. Not only does he save a fellow firefighter, but by some type of miracle he manages to escape death during a nasty forest fire. On his way to the bar to celebrate his heroic day, he steps out in the street and gets hit by a car. ~~ “Did I just survive a forest fire only to get hit by a fucking car?”
The driver….Skylar. ~~ “Hitting a pedestrian on my first day in town was just par for the course at this point. My entire life was in shambles. Why not make it a little worse?”
Luckily, Gavin only has a broken leg but that prevents him from working. Seeing as he has all this downtime, he decides to show Skylar around seeing as she’s new and a bit of an introvert. ~~ “Here’s the thing. You’re new in town and you could use someone to show you around. Introduce you to people, help you navigate the ins and outs of life in Tilikum.” “Could I?” “Definitely. And I’m the perfect guy for the job.” “And why is that?” “Who else has tons of time on his hands, knows pretty much everyone, and is also super fun to hang out with?”
Attraction really zings between these two, but there’s one small problem. Skylar’s dad is Gavin’s boss. And, of course, no one (not even a hero) is good enough for the Chief’s little girl.
<><>Characters<><> Hero: Gavin Bailey (aka Otter) ~ Age: 26 ~ Occupation: firefighter ~ Gavin is the youngest Bailey brother and the one that doesn’t seem to have any fears. He lives for the danger, but he knows his limits. He’s got great instincts for understanding situations and knows what he can handle. The broken leg forces him to take life at a slower pace, which ultimately forces him to face a few things about himself that he’s not so willing to admit.
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Gavin: born without the genes for fear, needs to find ways to channel his energy, seems to have a complete disregard for his own mortality, obnoxious, flirts with everyone, always moving, wants to live big, impulsive, a charmer, he notices things, has a great sense of humor, easygoing, can’t resist a challenge, likes to have fun, loyal, deep down he was afraid he didn’t matter - that his life was irrelevant
~ “I’m the youngest. It took them five tries to achieve perfection, but they finally got it right with me.”
~ “When shit hits the fan, my instincts are sharp. Things get very clear. It’s almost like I know what’s going to happen, so I know I don’t have to worry.”
Heroine: Skylar Stanley (aka sparrow) ~ Age: 25 ~ Occupation: suspense novelist ~ Skylar is Fire Chief Stanley’s daughter. Her parents have been divorced for almost twenty years, so it’s been a long time since she’s lived in Tilikum. She’s been through a lot in the last six months, but her biggest issue is that she’s struggling with writers block. She’s already published 12 novels but she’s afraid she doesn’t have any more new ideas in her.
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Skylar: distracted, shy, has a hard time meeting new people, introvert, wants to start over, constantly thinking, writes about serial killers, a worrier, anxious, intense, people make her nervous, smart, beautiful, talented, quirky
~ “Moving in with your dad when you were in your mid-twenties because you basically had nowhere else to go and your career was in the toilet was every girl’s dream.”
<><>A Few Thoughts<><>
^^ ~ that opening scene with Gavin in the fire - man, my heart was beating out of my chest. Of course, it didn’t help that I have a son who is a firefighter and all I could think about was him in that situation. So, I was a bit of a wreck after Chapter two.
^^ ~ I thought it was funny how Skylar was always thinking up ways to kill people. That sounds bad, but when you put it in the context of her writing (she writes suspense novels) then I found it comical this sweet girl was always creatively finding ways to murder people. 😂😂 ~~ “You spend all your time watching serial killer documentaries and looking up poisonous household chemicals or the best ways to hide a body.”
^^ ~ Cara strikes again. She’s definitely a friend you want in your corner. ~~ “That was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. He made me feel so awful when he broke up with me, and I never thought I’d see him get his due. Did you see his face? That was…” I trailed off again and launched myself at Cara, wrapping her in a tight hug.”
^^ ~ The Dirty Dancing prank - hilarious!!
^^ ~ in this book, Asher and Grace are expecting a baby and Fiona and Evan get married.
^^ ~ Skylar’s hypersensitivity issue was just a little odd. ~~ “Sometimes when I’m anxious I feel… inexplicably aroused.”
~~ I thought both Gavin and Skylar had some good character growth. Deep down they had some things that impacted their personal actions and it was nice to see them face their issues and accept their flaws and fears

Rushing In, the fourth Baily Brothers book, is Gavin and Skylar's story and will be a hit with her readers. All of these Bailey boys and their women will steal your heart with each new story. I particularly enjoyed Gavin's story because we finally got to see him on a deeper level. He is the devil may care, fun-loving, fearless Bailey brother but underneath we get to see that he is vulnerable and his outward appearances mask some of those vulnerabilities. I love that Gavin and Sky are complete opposites. For me, Sky is relatable. She is an introvert, with a lot of anxieties and is not overly fond of large groups or meeting new people. In other words, she is probably more like me than many of Claire's other female characters. It was so much fun watching her come out of her shell with Gavin and learning to let go of some of those anxieties just a little bit. Like all of Claire's couples, these two also bring the steam. They have great chemistry. This is another hit for Claire Kingsley and I love each new book even more than I think I will. I should point out, however, in her typical evil fashion, she does provide us with an Epilogue that will have her fans hounding her for the next book.
I voluntarily read a digital advanced reader copy provided to me by the author. The thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
I am expecting a rom com for Gavin's story. After all he is the cutest brother out of Bailey' s brothers. Sadly, I am a bit disappointed. The story is flat. Not much prank or funny moments. If they do have it, the comedy is cold.
The chemistry between Sky and Gavin is also rushed without a proper characters development. They rushed to be friend and the developed into friend with benefit. Miss Kingsley did not give me enough tender moment where I can soon over their romance. The story is OK. I do not hate it but I do not like it very much either. I managed to finish the audiobook.
Fire fighter and dare devil Gavin Bailey is used to danger around every turn, however, it only takes one minute to not look both ways to cross the street for him to get injured. To make matters worse, it is his captain's daughter who hits him. But will this one small accident be the thing that brings Gavin to his knees. Will the time he spends with Skylar change everything he has ever cared about? And what happens when the mighty have fallen - can Sky be the one to set his heart free? The reader has been in love with Gavin since the first book he was part of. His fly by the seat of his pants attitude and take no prisoners persona has made him one of the most sought after character to get his own story told, and boy did Claire Kingsley write a perfect masterpiece for him. Filled with laughter, family quirks and honest and true dynamics this was a fabulous read. Claire knows how to make the readers happy while at the same time making her book family one of our own. cannot wait for more in this series.
Gavin is the youngest and most fearless of the Bailey brothers. He loves challenges and participating in outrageous stunts. His family often refers to him as having a death wish, but he just sees himself as living life to the fullest. Like two of his brothers, he's a firefighter. Skylar, who's the daughter of the fire chief, comes back to live in the small town after she is suddenly and unceremoniously dumped by her literary agent/ex-boyfriend and given less than a day to vacate his apartment because his married girlfriend (he's been cheating on Sky) is moving in. Despite twelve, highly-successful previous novels, Sky's been suffering writer's block for months and has been dropped by her publisher. She meets Gavin in an unusual way, but their attraction to each other is immediate. Gavin, who has a playboy, love'em and leave'em reputation, suggests to Sky's dad that he make himself available as a platonic "good will ambassador" to Sky, show her around the area, and introduce her to people. Sky is awkward in social situations and has a hard time connecting with people and making friends. But the "friends only" arrangement becomes impossible for them to maintain. Gavin and Sky's story is interesting and romantic as it unfolds. We see new layers to Gavin's personality underneath his surface charm, including a long-buried hurt related to his family situation. The heartwarming closeness between the brothers and the grandmother showcased in the previous books is still apparent. Cara, a secondary character from the previous books, remains very entertaining. I love the way she unabashedly and ferociously protects/avenges those she's adopted as part of her small inner circle. I'm highly anticipating Cara and Logan's story in the next book.
Just when I think Claire can’t write a better book, she goes and proves me wrong. Not only does she write great heroes, and super-steamy car scenes, not to mention a ridiculously-interesting town feud—that could honestly carry an entire series on its own—I forget where I was going with this. Anyway.
Claire’s books always have that amazing ability to make me wish I lived inside them. And this was no different. She does a great job at writing relatable heroines. Skylar is introverted and often anxious, which I can understand quite well. If I can’t live in Tilikum, I would love to live in her head.
Gavin doesn’t try and force her to do anything, but encourages her to test her limits, almost without realizing he’s doing it. I’ve often wished I had Cooper Miles (from Reckless Miles) for a best friend, but Gavin Bailey would be a close second. Of course, I’d always take Cara, too. Anyone who will enact revenge for you is a great person to have on your side.
That’s not to say he isn’t without his own flaws. He has abandonment issues that are buried deep down, so deep that he isn’t even aware of it. It will take something big to break him, and something equally big to put him back together again.
And that epilogue! Dude, I’m almost disappointed that we’re getting another Dirty Martini book before the next Bailey book. But I know that one will be awesome, too, so I won’t stay mad for long. The anticipation may kill me, but it will be so with it.
Gavin's book is finally here! It's the one I have been most excited to read and it did not disappoint!
Gavin is a total dare devil up for anything, Skylar is much more cautious and weighs everything up.
You think Gavin is totally care free, lives life in the fast lane, which he does but at the same time he is hurting from losing his parents so young, has no memories of them but doesn't want to put a damper on things when his brothers are talking about them.
When Skylar comes into town to stay with her Dad, who is Gavin's boss, she is get over a break up and just wants to get back to her writing which she loves but it's been struggle!
After Skylar literally knocks Gavin over and he can't work for several weeks, Gavin decides that Skylar could do with a friend and he is the man for the job! Can these two really be just friends though?
The sparks fly instantly between these two! I loved Gavin and Skylar!
I loved seeing everyone again. I loved when Gavin was talking to his Gram about his parents there were tears!
As always a special mention has to go to Cara! Everyone needs a Cara in their lives, I want her to adopt me!
So much fun!!!! Book 4 of The Bailey Brothers series centers around Gavin, he's a daredevil, an adrenaline junkie who happens to be a fire fighter and the youngest Bailey. He meets his one in Skylar Stanley the fire chiefs daughter, who returns home after a breakup. She is a writer who is struggling with writers block. She's shy and I guess you could call her an introvert. With Gavin's help, she overcomes her writer's block and comes out of her shell. They are just so perfect for each other.
I loved everything about this and Claire did not disappoint in creating a world in which I completely immersed myself in. The banter is funny, so many times I giggled and in these trying times I really needed this. The scenes between the brothers or with Gram were great and for the last two days I've been craving home baked cookies. But my absolute favorite side character is Cara. I need a Cara in my life!! GAH, I can not wait for her book!
The mystery from the previous books is still a mystery but some pieces of the puzzle came to light but honestly left me with more questions, I need answers!! lol
Claire Kingsley's Bailey Brothers series is my favorite series of 2020. Each book has made me experience a full range of emotions, from laughing to crying to laughing again, and Rushing In was no different.
Gavin Bailey, a firefighter with a bit of a daredevil side, is one of the funniest characters I've read in awhile. His antics had me constantly cracking up. I truly do not understand how his brothers deal with him. The kitten scenes are some of my favorites I've read from Claire. His sense of humor was perfect for Skylar. Skylar, a suspense/thriller author, is back in town after being dumped by her agent and boyfriend. She needs some humor in her life and Gavin is perfect for that. I loved watching their relationship evolve and watching both characters learn about themselves.
Gavin might not have knocked Evan out of my favorite Bailey spot, but he sure came close. I am eagerly awaiting the next book, because as usual, Claire absolutely killed me with that epilogue!
*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.
The 4th book in the Bailey Brothers Series. Gavin Bailey is wild and reckless. He has a daredevil streak with no fear. He is the youngest of 5 brothers who lives on the edge.
Skylar Stanley scared of everything and now is having to healing after a broken heart. Her boyfriend/ agent breaks up with her and quits as her agent, he kicks her out of his apartment they shared so she needs a place for a fresh start. She decided to go to her dads home in Tilikum.
After an accidental encounter Gavin decided is he perfect person to get Skylar out of her shell and becomes her first friend in Tilikum. Their adventures are fun and along the way their relationship shifts into something hot! Their chemistry is off the charts and boy do their adventures continue!!!
Reading Gavin and Skylar grow into their own together is fantastic. Claire has done it again. She continues to pull you in and feel what the characters feel.
This series deserves a great round of applause and it gives me a great thrill to think that we are yet far from over. What I came to realize reading these books is that the Bailey brothers are the type of boys that love hearing the sound of bells. Gavin, the most restless of all, has took me by surprise. Not only did he find his happily ever after but he also came to terms with his parents’ death. I don’t just want to talk about how Skylar is a beautiful and caring person but what really involved me most was Gavin’s deep issues. Usually when I read CK’s books, I always try to find a value behind her words. In this book she points out the ability of a person to grow into a better one and the courage to face one’s fears. The entire family is so close that whoever surrounds them, are engulfed by their great love and respect. “All for one and one for all”, this for me could be their theme.
The Bailey brothers just keep getting better and better!!!!!
Gavin and Skylar are just the sweetest couple ever, starting with how they meet. He is outspoken and carefree while she is quiet and more reserved. He knows he shouldn't want her the way he does simply out of respect for her father yet he just cannot help himself and she doesn't make it easy on him when it comes to resisting her. To him she is the forbidden cookie!!!!
Up until this point we have been shown Gavin's care free side (which is what he mostly is) but I absolutely loved getting to know him on a deeper level and seeing what really makes him tick. We know he is basically fearless from the previous books and learning more about where that comes from and how deep it is rooted explains so much about him. Skylar on the other hand has gone through life a quiet girl and has used her writing as an escape/coping mechanism to conquer her fears that she harbors. Gavin finds ways to break Skylar out of her shell and "live on the edge" more so than she is used to. One incident changes things in a heartbeat for Gavin and it was just the wakeup call he needed.
Claire has given us another story of love but what I really loved about this one was the little mini stories going on throughout this one. We find out more about the Bailey parents and get to witness Skylar's parents (Chief and Caroline) rebuilding their relationship. Then there is still the mystery surrounding Eliza Bailey and John Haven. The Bailey prank pulled in this one is so epic yet I cannot wait to see how the Haven's respond back. Of course there are some more shenanigans from the squirrels because it wouldn't be Tilikum if there wasn't.
The Bailey Brothers is such a fun series. I have loved getting to know each brother and also get more clues to the origins of the whole Bailey/Haven feud. The cameos from all the previous couples and characters is the best and I love seeing further into their happily ever afters. It's not necessary to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but readers/listeners will have more backstory if they do.
This friends with benefits/forbidden romance is sexy with a capital S. It's instalust from the very memorable meet cute and keeps building until things deliciously boil over. Gavin and Skylar are opposites, but they complement each other well. There isn't too much angst in this one and even though I'm not generally a fan of the reformed manwhore hero, I thought Rushing In was an enjoyable and sexy read. The narration by Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood was great and I especially loved Savannah Peachwood's performance as Skylar. I enjoyed both performances and love the varied and unique voices they give to each character. I'm really looking forward to Logan's story next (especially after that epilogue!), but it's Levi's book that I'm really dying for.
CW: anxiety, automobile accident, arson, cheating ex
Rushing In was the book you never knew you needed during our interesting year of 2020. It starts out with high action, and never really slows down. It's youthful without being immature, and really makes you think back to your twenties and how much fun and a little reckless you may have been. The added story line of Skylar's parents was fun, the Bailey Brother's prank was great, there was more revealing of the past and how the feud may have started. You get some of Gran, and some of the rest of the family, don't forget to keep track of new Broisms, and a great tear jerking moment with Gran and Gavin. I really don't know how Claire does it with each book in a series getting better and better. Can't wait for the rest of the series!
I loved this book, everything about it was perfect!
Gavin is the youngest of the Bailey Brothers, and literally has no fear, except for one which he buries deep down inside. Skylar has writers block, and it’s not just because her life has recently been turned upside down, it has been months since she last wrote, and she has no idea how to get round it. Gavin and Skylar first meeting is by accident, and then again in a coffee shop, the attraction between them is obvious, but he has to stay clear and just be friends, as her father is his boss. But, things never turn out as they should and after many adventures, and a heartfelt outburst, things go wrong. Can Gram and her boys help save the day, or has too much been said.
This series keeps getting better. I love this family and this town. Along with a great romance there is also an unsolved mystery about two lovers from the 1900's who went missing mysteriously, both from feuding families. I have a couple of theories about it and can't wait to read more.
With how intense those first few chapters were, I just knew that Gavin's story would be pretty amazing........and yep, it sure was! These Bailey brothers just keep getting better, and the youngest did not disappoint! I loved Gavin and Skylar so much! With Skylar's dad being Gavin's boss, it made things a little complicated once their attraction became too much to deny.......but you just knew the second their eyes met, neither one of them would be able to keep their hands out of the cookie jar.
From Gram and her incredible wisdom, to Gavin and the kitten, digging deeper into the Haven/Bailey feud, to #CaraKarma (oh man, that was fantastic!), Otter finding his own Sparrow, to my one of my favorite moments - the way the brothers talked Gavin off the edge, and more.......I read this book in one sitting and loved every minute of it! This series is truly amazing and you need it in your life!!
But that epilogue......Claire, why you gotta leave us hanging like that? I need the rest of that scene ASAP!!!
four stars! *:・゚✧ oooh yeah, this is my favorite book in the series so far. i fucking loooooved skylar and gavin’s relationship, it was genuinely so cute and hot and asfhkl everything a girl can dream about, ya know? also the ~spicy~ scenes in this one were the best outta all the others, too, which is always a fun bonus. i literally am loving this series so much!! i cannot wait for the last two books with the twins, especially levi’s because he’s so mysterious 😵💫
I love this series, and this might be my favorite book so far! I loved everything about it. The hero and heroine, their connection, the plot, the sexy times, I loved it all and couldn’t stop reading. Seriously, this series is so addictive!
Next book up in this delicious Bailey Brothers series I’ve been almost inhaling is youngest brother Gavin. He’s the charmer – and charmer he is, the flirt, and flirt he is, and the rush junkie of the brothers. Gavin’s heroine is Skylar Stanley. She is the daughter of Gavin’s boss, the fire chief. She lived in their small town but when her parents split, she went with her mother and hasn’t been back in town for years. But her life exploded; she’s a writer and lost her agent and boyfriend at the same time since they were one and the same. She decides she wants to spend time with her father in the small, quirky, town of Tilikum while she heals.
Gavin has just managed to escape death on a fire call when he’s run over by a car driven by none other than Skylar. Now this sounds serious but since he survives with only a broken leg, the whole situation is written with humor and has us smiling. Skylar, of course, is horrified, even more somwhen she learns the circumstances, but Gavin is very zen about it. But because he will be off work for a while – because of the broken leg – he decides to show Skylar around and while at it, show her some adventure as she is the quiet and shy type. These two are perfect for each other but the fact he works for her father and thinks of him as almost a father figure, is a real cock blocker. So how they handle this is the heart of the story.
There is also a mystery that runs through all of these books. One of the features is the rivalry between the Baileys and their arch enemies, the Haven family. Sky is a mystery writer so she’s all in on solving the mystery of the start of the feud, missing family members for days gone by. I know I’m not doing a good job in explaining how delightful and wonderful I’m finding this series. The best word to describe Skylar is adorkable. She’s constantly getting lost in her head on how to kill people in her mysteries. She’s in a writers block and trying to get out of it. She’s somewhat uncomfortable in social situations. And Gavin gets this about her. He’s charmed by her.
And as much as I love each and every love story so far, I’m also enjoying the relationship between the brothers. It’s a love story too only in a much different way. They fight, they bicker, they trash talk and they are there for each other 100%. They are funny and each one is my favourite while I’m reading their book. This book, like the previous ones, is pure joy to read.
I highly, highly recommend this series. I am loving it.
Rushing In is book 4 in the Bailey Brothers series; and while it is a story of one couple, complete with their HEA, it needs to be read in order as the series has a mystery interwoven throughout. Skylar, a successful suspense thriller writer, finds herself moving back into her hometown after a break-up with her boyfriend, who also happened to be her agent. Gavin, the youngest Bailey brother, is living a life of adventure, often times indulging in extreme sports and daredevil activities. He is a firefighter with Tilikum Fire Department, and his boss, The Fire Chief is Skylar’s father. The book opens with a blockbuster quality drama and fire rescue that gets your adrenalin pumping and plays out in your mind like a big screen thriller - and it only gets better from there. As with all books by this author, her captivating writing style gets you immersed in the story and her characters come alive on the pages. Skylar and Gavin become fast friends, as Gavin takes her under his wing to reintroduce her to Tilikum and helps her with a bit of a writers block she’s experiencing after her break-up. Rushing In is jam packed with action, emotions, shenanigans, cuteness, love, danger and some heat - I absolutely adored it! There is the love story within the love story...GAHHH, the plot thickens with the town feud and the mystery of Eliza Bailey, Cara delivers some well deserved karma, Baileys come up with an awesome prank, Gavin finds and adopts a cute kitten - Princess Squeaker, and so much more! It is a total Broller Coaster!!!
Rushing In might be my favorite Bailey brothers book yet. It has heart, heat, laughs and just makes you feel good. I knew I was going to love this book after the VERY memorable first meeting of Gavin and Skylar.
“Gavin Bailey scared me. But he also made me feel brave.”
I could relate to Skylar so much. She was a bit of an introvert who was uncomfortable meeting new people and little things could make her anxious. She was afraid of everything, but Gavin accepted her for who she was and was able to help bring her out of her comfort zone. With his help, she was able to grow and become more confident.
“I was afraid I didn’t matter. That my life was irrelevant.”
What can I say about Gavin? I mean, who wouldn’t love a man who becomes a cat mom to an abandoned kitten and names her Princess Squeakers. He was such a sweet, lovable guy who lived for danger. On the outside, he was afraid of nothing, but deep down, he’s afraid of losing the people he loves. Being with Skylar helps him confront those feelings so he can move on from his fears.
These two opposites were perfect for each other. Watching them navigate an unexpected friendship will warm the reader’s heart. Plus the Bailey brother prank on the Havens is EPIC!! Don’t miss this delightful story!
This is Book #4 in the Bailey Brother Series and features the youngest of them, Gavin, and the boss’s daughter, Skylar! Gavin is a fun-loving, fearless daredevil and Skylar is a shy introvert and is basically afraid of her own shadow. This book has a really interesting and adorable “meet cute”. Skylar comes to town to stay with her dad after a bad breakup with a bad case of writer’s block. Gavin finds himself bored after an injury forces him to take time off as a firefighter. He befriends Skylar and he makes her feel brave and alive. She makes him feel things that he never thought he’d feel! From the very first page, the author captivates you with an adrenaline pumping scene and doesn’t stop. Claire is spectacular at creating characters who jump off the page and places that you wish were real! Rushing in has everything that we have come to love from this series…. Gram, Cara “karma”, the ongoing Haven feud and pranks, the continuing mystery surrounding the age old mystery of why the Havens and Baileys are feuding in the first place, a cute little kitten names Princess Squeaker, Logan’s “brovocab”, an unexpected love story within this love story and HEAT…lots of heat! Gavin just couldn’t keep his hands out of the cookie jar! ANOTHER MUST READ!
