Lydia Marie Lancaster Blonde, beautiful, and… bitter? Nine years ago my high school sweetheart left me in the dust to start a career as a country music singer. Since then, I’ve been closed off. Vowing to never let a man fill my pretty blonde head with empty promises ever again.
Well, guess what? Cowboy’s back in town. And he claims he’s here to stay. Can I trust that Max will stick around long enough to mend the pieces of my broken heart? More importantly, do I even want him to?
Maxwell Owen Weston. I might be a hotshot country star, but I’m still pining for the girl I left behind. After nine years, tragedy brings me back to Midland Springs. And this time, I’m sticking around. I’ve been in love with Lydia nearly half my life, and now that I’m back, I’m determined to spend the rest of my life with her. I’ll do anything to get my Blondie back.
A lot may have changed, but she’s still the snarky, gorgeous, loyal girl that stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on her. Will she let her guard down and let me back into her life? Or are second chances just meant for the books she shelves?
Blondie is a MF contemporary second-chance small town romance, and the second book in the Midland Springs Romance series. This series is interconnected, but each book can be read as a standalone.
Joanne Ganci is a hopeless romantic that more than anything wants to bring joy to the world. Whether that be through the words on the pages of her books or a friendly gesture to a stranger.
She's a bit quirky and rather anti-social, but through the characters that demand to have their stories told she is working on cracking out of her shell and emerging as a semi-dysfunctional pterodactyl. Bet you thought that was going to say butterfly. Nope, that'd be normal and Joanne is quite the opposite.
Fueled by the love of her family, she embarked on the journey as an author and somehow hasn't panicked her way into quitting. Let's hope she keeps the crazy tamped down and continues on her journey.
Blondie is one of my favorite 2nd chance romances if not my very favorite. It's full of angst, love, sassy, and moments that'll make you swoon. The opening paragraph of the story made me cry, without even really knowing the character. Joanne Ganci has that power and she weilds it well. Immediately after finishing this book I had to jump into Their Book Nerd, her first work which I also loved. There's something about this little town and the people that inhabit it that makes me want this series to keep going and never, ever end. If 2nd chance romance is your jam and if you've got a soft spot for incredibly sassy but also very vulnerable heroines please do us all a favor and read this small town romance about a man and a woman who were going to have it all but somehow lost their way. Read it and enjoy because it's so good. I promise.
Blondie was such a good romantic read that left a smile on my face. I love this little town, the characters are fun and the plot was engaging. The story flow was smooth. Who does not enjoy a good story about the one that got away, but they get a second chance. Blondie is a funny, heart felt second chance romance that will leave you feeling like you have read a good book!
I love a good small town romance! This is the story of Lydia and Max. High school sweethearts with big plans to be together forever on his family farm in small town Florida. All that changes when Max is offered a record deal that takes him to Nashville. Nine years pass before Max shows up again in Midland to win back his girl, but can she trust he’s really going to stick around this time?
I really liked the way this second chance romance played out. You get a few flashbacks to when they were younger and the big break up. There’s a healthy dose of humor and steam. This is the second book in a series, but you don’t have to read the other to understand what’s going on. It was enough to intrigue me since I hadn’t read the first book ( it’s now been added to my list). Overall I feel it was well written and very enjoyable.
I fell in love with Lydia's sassyness when we met her in TBN and she's had a place in my heart ever since. I felt a connection and I realised in this book that she's just like me - she may laugh and joke and be the absolute belle of the ball, but really she's hiding what she's feeling and she's an excellent actress - only one day a year wi she allow herself to feel the things she represses - and that day is dated for a reason. Did I cry when reading this book - of course I did. Did I love the storyline? You betcha and I liked Max when he pulled his head out of his backside - and he did win me over as well as Lydia. I love the banter between these two, it kept me on my toes and laughing. A good/ no a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did.
I really liked this book. It's about Lydia the librarian. In the first book of this series, Lydia was hilarious. She's still funny, but there is so much sadness in this book. It took me five weeks to get through the first half because it was so emotionally hard to read. I wasn't prepared for this more serious story after Their Book Nerd. Having said that, the writing has improved. The characters are explored much more. The story has an obvious climax.
Lydia is her own antagonist/worst enemy. I really wanted to book-slap her a few times. Max is amazing. He loves her so much. I was happy with the resolution. I hope there will be more stories in this series.
Blondie is an amazing second chance romance that keeps you pulled in for the whole ride! This book has a little bit of everything heartbreak, love, laughter, and all around amazingness. The book takes you back to Midland Springs and you get to see previous characters from Their Book Nerd as well as meet many new great ones! This town continues to suck me in and make me want to be a part of it. Blondie was a great second book, but can also be a complete standalone. You get to go on an emotional journey with these two to find their happy ever after, and what a ride it is. So grab this book and be prepared to laugh, cry, and fall in love!
This is what I imagine being southern really feels and looks like, country line dancing, farms and tough loving mamas. (I definitely don't come from America haha). I love how Midland has a small town feel and all the people love or at least help each other when needed.
What can I say about Lydia and Max, it's an epic love, the one everyone wants and hope they will he lucky enough to have. It's a real good feel read. So if you are in the need of soulmates and epic love this is the book for you.
Sassy females and southern sweet loving cowboys. This book has it all.
A lovely story of Love, Heartbreak, Trust and rekindling a lost relationship. The main characters in this book Lydia (Blondie) and Max (Cowboy) have been in love since they were kids but then something significant happens in their life and they break up for 9 years. Until Max breezes back into town and unsettles her life again. This time though he says hes not leaving. When you read this book you truly believe in Max and Lydia. Willing them to put their differences aside to get back together. Thats how i felt reading it. Loved them and this book
I really enjoyed the push and pull of the emotions in this book Lydia is a strong willed stubborn girl who almost let her stubbornness get I the way of her happiness. Max is just as stubborn in his own way. I enjoyed the other characters in the book and hope that some of them get their own books! The back and forth of perspectives is easy to follow and allows you to get into both characters heads instead of just one. I highly recommend this book and can not wait to see what's next for this series!
This is my first time reading this author. I thought she was fairly new to the industry but if that is the case, I was unable to tell with the level of writing found in this book. Ms. Ganci was able to make me feel like I knew these characters and recognized this small town. The personalities were all very distinct and the banter was witty. I was never taken out of the story due to unrealistic dialogue or clunky writing. My only dislikes were personal preference issues that aren't worth mentioning. I would absolutely recommend this book to those who like second chance, small town romances.
This book at times broke my heart whilst allowing it to soar with it's sweetness and sass, however it showed the strength of love between people in every form ... lovers, family, and friends. This devout hater of country music didn't even mind the fact that Maxwell Weston is a country star, as it simply added to the appeal of the book. It's a story I'd thoroughly recommend to any and all lovers of romance, and even though Lydia and Maxwell's story has ended I'm looking forward to hearing more about the characters in Midland Springs who you start to fall for in this book.
This second chance romance has all the feels with a happily ever after, which in my opinion, is as a romance should be! The push and pull between Max and Lydia makes their story so realistic. I loved the sense of humor and banter between all the characters, too. Joanne is a gifted writer who knows how to tell a story you can't put down.
This was just such a great love story. I feel like it should be a movie! Lydia and Max’s love is forever. After heartbreak and nine years they still found their way back together. Love is hard and although their HEA changed they still get to experience it together and that’s all that matters. I love a great love story with a HEA.
I love Lydia!! She is so snarky and funny. The genuine emotion between her and Max is so perfect. If you love small town romance with a little bit of rockstar romance then this one is for you. Just know I claim Pat. Find your other side character boyfriend. 😂😂😂
I couldn’t put this book down. I loved every second of it. It made me feel so many emotions. It takes a truly well written book to make me cry and I cried several times in this one. The ending was perfect! Ganci is definitely a new favorite author of mine.
This book was so good. It made me laugh, cry and do a happy dance. The story was touching yet satisfying and all of your favorites from the first Midland Springs book are back to weigh in on Lydia's love life. So do yourself a favor and read this immediately!
Brilliant Sweet read. Enjoyed reading this. Lydia was betrayed by someone she loved a long time ago... or was she. Did she get in the way of her own happiness and can that be rectified now. This is a lovely sweet story that I enjoyed reading. This is definitely worth the read.
Can love have a second chance? I did rather love this trip back to Midland with old friends and new ones. We get to know Lyndia and why she is the way she is and we meet Max her Cowboy.
This is the second book I've read by this author and she didnt disappoint! Loved this well written second chance love story!!! Can't wait to read more from this author
Sweet and down to earth book is a wonderful read. The community and family in this series is something we all want and strive for. Then you throw in the sass and it's perfect. Great read. Recommend.
I just love Max so much! He’s the sweetest cowboy! Lydia was a hoot. I really enjoyed Lydia and her family’s connection. I can’t wait to read Parker’s story next
Let me guess, he fucked many women around and after nine years realized he lost the great love of his life! Convenient this guy?
“I haven’t been out with anybody in years, Lydia. I’m not gonna lie and say I was celibate, but I haven’t been on a date in...six or seven years? And before that there really weren’t that many.”
Then I was told that he was not with anyone and courageously decided to take a chance, just to read that crap and find out that I was right. There were not many women but they sure did, so what's the point? He said he loved her but turned his back very, very easily and decided to go back AFTER 9 YEARS ONLY BECAUSE THE FATHER DIE! And he said that he missed her every day, but surely that did not happen when he was between the thighs of another woman! BULDSHIT!!
Blondie by Joanne Ganci is a beautiful story of vulnerability, trust and faith. The story is well written and detailed but it’s how very natural and normal it is that works for me. I suppose we all remember our first love and how it can effect your whole being and Blondie follows the story of Lydia and Max and the impact one event can have even years later. I had tears in my eyes in places, I laughed or shook my head in others. It’s a sweet story and one that I enjoyed. Nicely done Ms Ganci.
