Sick Boys #4

Wicked Dark Heathens

What tangled webs we weave...

He’s everything I don’t want. A playboy. A beast with a cunningly gorgeous smile. Faces like his only mean one thing. Somewhere underneath all of that handsomeness, there lies a monster.

And if anyone can sense a monster, it’s me.

I understand cruelty. I’ve lived and breathed it for my entire life. I existed on the ‘charity’ of others until I realized that wouldn’t be enough. My demons would soon be let free. They were coming back for me and in order to be ready for them—to be ready for him—I needed to make myself invincible.

But it’s not enough. If I’m going to survive then I need to make an alliance with a monster of my own: Abel Frazier.

This book is a sequel to another series featuring the Sick Boys that I had not read. Even though the author recommends reading the other books before hand, I thought this story held up. The picture presented is that the Boys (including Abel) are rich, college age elites that run their town like the mafia. Everyone fears them and/or respects them. Get in the way and they'll have you taken care of type vibe.

Rylie, the female MC, works for the Sick Boys as their hacker or "Program Girl." She doesn't know that Abel, the playboy of the brothers, has an obsession with her. So when her past comes back to haunt her, she flees, causing Abel to hunt her down and stake his claim.

Her past doesn't stand a chance.

So, this being a dark romance, both characters have some issues. What's really horrifying is their pasts. Most especially, Rylie's. After that particular recounting, reading was a bit difficult. Just stick with it.

3.5⭐

I enjoyed this one, but maybe reading this book right after finishing the first three was a bad idea. Books 1-3 are dark gritty and to be honest.. a bit shocking at times. Except for some dark trauma the heroine went through (read trigger warning), this book was pretty mild...

I expected all sorts of shocking things te happen but they never did. I didn't hate the heroine, but compared to Avalon, she was pretty boring. Even Abel was mild and a bit boring in this book. Sex scenes seemed a bit ott.

Still looking forward to Braxton's book and hoping for a less boring heroine... Fingers crossed that Avalon is not the only real kick ass heroine we are gonna get.

The Sick Boys are back and it’s Frontmans turn to fall and oh boy does he ever !!! Rylie and Abels story was literally everything I anticipated and more these two were insane together the chemistry the passion the obsession it’s quite obvious that the Goth princess was made for the legendary playboy these two couldn’t be more perfect for each other ! Abel had me swooning so hard and Rylie her pain brought me to tears her not thinking she was good enough to be loved was so heartbreaking . The Sick Boys is just the type of family Rylie’s been longing for this crew is so loyal to each other and it’s so heartwarming seeing them interact with each other and how worried they were for Abel they are definitely ride or die for each other. This series is one of my favorites out there I can’t recommend it enough! The writing is excellent the characters are amazing the chemistry between these two is so explosive there’s action twists and turns and some super hot sexy times I’m just gonna say it again I LOVE THE SICK BOYS !!!

4/5 🌶️

this series follows dean and ava, abel and riley, and braxton at east point university. i love being able to see how their friendships and relationships are evolving as the series goes on. the first three books are about dean and ava, this book is abel and riley who is ava’s best friend at this point. i was hesitant to continue with the series but the prologue definitely left me curious 👀

at the jump you already know it’s going to be able and riley’s story but WOW. i did not expect their story to be this AW 🥹 riley grew up in a home and was abused at 6 years old so she doesn’t let ANYONE in. but something about abel just made her let go. ‼️ HE SAYS IT FIRST ‼️same goes for abel, he isn’t the relationship type AT ALL! but from constant denial on both parts, bickering and insults it finally happened. i’ll definitely keep going with this series, i’m hoping braxton meets someone because he’s kinda deep in the shadows now 👀

i’ll say this every time i review this series. PLEASE check trigger warnings.

❤️ college romance
🖤 poor girl/rich guy
❤️ hate to love
🖤 he says it first
❤️ obsessed mmc

I've got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book....this book got me out of my 2 months slumber!!! For the past 2 months I couldn't really get myself to finish a book in 2 days...but rather nearly a month!

My precious Lucy knows exactly how to write a dark, threatening, twisted book my heart needs!

First night of reading I read until 1:30am, the second night and also my finishing night I stayed up till 12:30am. Abel and Rylie's story was freaking perfection! From beginning to the middle until the end! Every page I turned I needed more and I couldn't get enough of it at the same time!

There's something about Lucy's dark side writing that has my inner demons and darkness settle down for a while. It also makes me think that maybe once I'll find someone who will accept me as I am with my darkness and demons inside too.

When I first read Avalon's story and how strong she was, I didn't think I'll love anyone else besides her, but I was wrong. Rylie might not be strong in the same sense as Avalon, but she has her inner strength and I love her as much! The things each girl had to go through was a lot...their different turmoil eating up inside their hearts. Fortunately they found their other halves that won't ever let them go.

When we first met Rylie we knew she'd be special, but we just didn't know HOW special she was gonna be. Then our two people met and things started to heat up. I loved how possessive Abel was for her or how he kind of claimed her. There's something about it that was incredibly hot. The ups and downs or their relationship was amazingly thought out to the tee. We also finally got to see "inside" of Abel and his inner fightings and what he went through as a teenager with a father like his.

Some parts of this book were incredibly steamy that I had to take a pause for a while. I didn't mind it, but I needed a teeny tiny break, haha.

If you love dark and twisted with a painful change, this is more then just a simple book for you then! It's going to be your next favorite read! Trust me!!!

While I liked some of this book I didn’t love it like the first ones. Abel felt a little bit like a spoilt toddler. I understood that Rylie and Abel were broken individuals and could relate to them in some way but I didn’t believe the chemistry between them and Abels behaviour was very toddler. He had known her for years, they had used her services for years and describe her as a skinny goth dark circles eyed girl and suddenly he is all into her? Abel was such a man whore and I couldnt work out what made Rylie difference/special. The fact that he was such a whore and went out did drugs and sex with anyone but still felt it ok to have unprotected sex with Rylie not knowing if he was safe ect was a bit ick. So for me this one was a bit of a bust. I am looking forward to the next book though

Oh boy these two characters - Rylie and Abel had me riveted to this book. Theyre are two complete opposites of each other but in some regards they have a great deal in common. One being having dark events happen in their early lives that shaped the people they are today. Rylie being insular with very little friends mainly because she trusts very hardly anyone. whereas Abel hides himself in being a Sick Boy and uses that as well as his money & prestige to get everything he wants. A babysitting job for Rylie gets her entangled up with Abel and sparks fly between them both. Abel and Rylie certainly steam together in this book. I wasnt a fan of Abel at the beginning of this book. He was so full of himself and it annoyed me but as the book progressed he grew on me. It was a cracking read and i cant wait for Brax's book

Another great book in the series. I could believe in Abel and Rylie even if I'm not sure about all the reluctance that then lead to an abrupt insta claiming. I liked the run/chase aspects and really wished it had happened a little sooner in the book and lasted a little longer.

I did not like that Rylie did nothing when she heard what was happening to Christine on the phone. She should have at least reported what she heard.

Looking forward to the next one with Brax and Clover and I'm intrigued about Bash and Lucian and Avalon's missing friend.

What I would have loved to see in this one, rather than the typical "I'm not good enough/damaged/don't know how to love" trope would have been if Rylie had ran and survived, maybe even thrived while Abel followed/watched giving him a challenge and little more insight into her as well as himself with facing living poor. I think this would have helped with some of Rylies low self esteem, too. But that isn't what we got and I'm sorry for it. The chase concept was the best part of the book.

"Even if this doesn’t last, for as long as I live, there will be a piece of Abel Frazier buried deep within my soul."

Rylie Moore, Hacker. Foster kid. Program chick. We met Rylie back in Ava and Dean's story. Although, she was a side character at the time, She really stood out to me. Now that she has her story, I couldn't have been more excited. I seriously was not disappointed. From previous books, I knew something was up (from her past) my heart broke for her so much.

"What's left of my wicked, dark heathen soul is hers and all she has to do is be mine.

Abel was a guy who had it all. Money, drugs, alcohol, girls., a life of luxury. He also had a deep, dark secret that he's been carrying around for years. What happens when two broken souls find each other?

Resistance. Annoyance. Understanding. And filthy, dirty hot s€x.

I've followed this series for a while now and with every book, it seems to get so much better! I don't really know much about Brax, but super excited about his book. Definitely can't wait!

Back to a world I adore

I adore the Sick Boys series. Avalon and Deans are probably some of my favourite Dark MF books, and when I say dark, I mean it with these. When I found out that Abel was getting a book I instantly preordered so that I could get my hands on him. We meet Rylie and start to want answers about her character in Pretty Little Savage. Her friendship with Avalon then her hidden history with Abel had me curious about her. Abel quickly became my favourite of the guys, I’m drawn to the broken and twisted ones with a heart and he’s that.
In this book we find out some snippets of Rylies past early on, and when you finally have the full story you’re ready for Abel to tear the world down.
Abel and Rylie aren’t the couple you imagine but they work perfectly. I adored this book although it’s definitely dark romance, it’s done right. I’m now ready for Brax and his twisted and slightly depraved self.

I was looking forward to Abel's book because he was always my favorite out of the 3 men.

I knew he a darker sad side even though he was typically the one smiling. I felt so bad for him knowing how his father forced him to be a manwhore so young.

Rylie's story was definitely so heart breaking. Her past was so dark. She did drive me crazy with the running away instead of just asking for help. And was upset she didn't report what happened to Christine.

I definitely enjoyed Abel and Rylie's story more than Dean and Ava. Ava is this book still is my least favorite character. I feel like she has zero compassion ever.

The twist at the end for Abel and Rylie was predictable though. I knew it was going to happen since she kept talking about her malnourishments. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the insta love. The chase happened and ended way too quickly and after a week they're in love.

Wicked Dark Heathen is the fourth book in the Sick Boys series but this one isn't about Dean and Ava. Nope this time we get Abel and Rylie. Can I just start off by saying that I want to have babies with Abel Frazier? I just want to kidnap him and keep him forever. I LOVE HIM!!! Rylie is pretty awesome too. Now she is not Avalon. She is a badass in her own right, but not in the same way that Ava was. So even though we read and loved the first three books, let's let Abel and Rylie have their own story. And what a story it is.

We knew that Rylie had a past. She was running from something and had been doing a really good job of staying hidden. Then one little mistake brings it all crashing down around her. I really enjoyed learning more about her and her past. I think that she has to be an incredibly strong minded person to have gone through and survived all that she has.

Abel Frazier. Oh my. He has his own dark past to deal with. Bless his heart. He is such a dark presence in the world but he is carrying so much hurt and brokenness. You can't help but fall for him. We really get to see a side of him that we NEVER expected. He is so damn good to Rylie. Even when he's being bad.

These two couldn't be more perfect for each other. They are both broken souls. They are both hiding from something in their own different ways. It took a while to get them together but when they get there, ugh it's just fucking perfection. For me, these two are my couple of the series. I absolutely adored them.

I am in love with this whole Sick Boys series and I can't wait to see what Braxton has in store for us. I feel like he might just be the most devious of them all.

“... and I want to carve my fucking name into your soul.” 🥵🤤🔥💯

Ok y'all. MY FAVORITE ONE so far!

If you've read my reviews, you know I'm not the biggest fan of Avalon. I liked her initially, but book 2 and book 3 I just couldn't get into her character. I've always loved the boys though! So, I was really excited to read about Rylie and Abel, getting away from Avalon as the focus and putting her more in the background. And THIS is what it took for me to be sucked in.

Rylie was Avalon's roommate. Hacker, weird girl, lives on energy drinks. The Sick Boys used her expertise so they were all acquainted, though Rylie always kept her distance. Until one party where she catches Abel's attention, well, pretty sure she had it prior to that! Abel, the handsome Sick Boy that kind of stays in the background but still likes to party. He's had his fair share of girls and everyone knows it. What in the world would he see in a girl like Rylie? They both share dark secrets, that's what it is!

I cannot tell you how much I love both of these characters! Abel is just... SWOON. Oy!!! And Rylie, this character is so likeable, she just pulls you in. They are both hiding behind facades and they both can see what no one else has been able to see. I love them.

And now I'm ready for Braxton.... Eeeeeee!!!!

WoW!! It's been a really really long time since I've read a 5 star book and wrote a 5 star review!

It had me captivated, gave me swoony moments and laugh out loud moments! I really loved it!
Abel is the Fun one of the Sick Boys, the one you would aproach easier than they others. But don't think he doesn't have a dark side, he sure does it's just well hidden until it's too late.

What did bother me a bit was the bet between Abel and Avalon, because Avalon suspects something from Rylie's past so she does know something and still she does that bet.. But on the otherside it was with the best intentions and it was a harmless/needless bet.

I also would've liked to see more on how they Boys reacted when Rylie said she didn't f*ck Brax. That was so funny, but then it was cut off and that was not fun.

Need more!!

Holy crap do I need more of Riley and Abel. Especially with that ending!!!

"They're beautiful, those demons of hers, and I don't want to save her from them. I want to show her how to harness them. To use them. To relish in their darkness because it's only in the dark that we truly understand ourselves." They each have a past that keeps each of them from giving into their feelings until they do

Gosh. My Abel. Our notorious playboy. I’m so glad that Lucy wrote his book. We finally get to see inside this guys head and it is not pretty… but at the same time it is. There’s so much more to him than just a cocky bad boy. I love how he didn’t give up on Riley and wanted to know everything about her.

Now, Riley… my poor girl Riley has not had it well. Growing up in foster will definitely do that to you though.

I’m just dying for Braxtons book next!!

I freaking love the Sick Boys! Traveling back to Eastpoint was a slightly less bumpy but still so delightfully dark roller coaster ride. All of the twists and unpredictable shake ups kept me riveted to the pages and savoring each and every interaction between the guys and their prey. It also helped me realize what a honor and privilege it was to call them an ally or friend. The huge difference of being outside of their inner circle versus being snug and tucked INSIDE their protective arms. Damn they're psychos. But they're MY psychos. Highly recommend this series for everyone who LOVES dark romances with the angst of a possessive love interest and jealous wannabes. Rate off the charts for steaminess, sassy heroine and charismatic playboy. So much FUN!

I mean I'm still here.....

Definitely not the most top-tier SUPREME series I've ever read BUT I SWEAR THERES WORSE. As I'm reading there's definitely plots, scenes, and character choices that I seriously question. But as a dummy reader, I just keep chugging along.

I feel like I’ve been waiting for Abel book forever(sigh) I live for the sick boys books there amazingly well written triggers, twisted, dark. Hot scene.
They’ve both not had it easy in life especially Riley from a little year 6 years old losing her parents to then being placed in a foster home with a 16 year old boy that abuses her so young. Years old and her stalker/obsessive abuser is back for her.
Abel we got to see him a lot with Ava and I new his book was going to be good. I loved it I devoured it and didn’t want to put it down. Luc Kincaid keeps popping up and I’m hoping he gets a story. Now time to wait for braxton but it will be worth the wait
Thanks lucy smokes for another amazing book to the series I may just reread them all now 🙈

I couldn’t put this book down!

What a page turner!! Lucy kept me on the edge of my seat in this one, even though the villain is named from the get go. Watching these two broken kids figure their feelings was fun and addicting. It also helps knowing their story is told in one book.

Can’t wait for Braxton’s darkness in book 5. Oh…. And the continuing story of the other two couples in this series.

Having read the first 3 books, I was actually looking forward to reading about Abel, one of the side characters (and Sick Boy). Given how raw and violent the first 3 books were, I was truly expecting something equally gritty.

I was surprised at how much that did NOT happen.

Given the gist that each of the Sick Boys had been trained in a particular area to make up a power group when together, Abel was trained for seduction (where the others were trained in violence, etc). It was a sensitive topic in the earlier books when Abel was referred to as basically a whore.

So based on the fact that the Sick Boys were ruthlessly trained in their given specialty to wield it as a weapon (threats, blackmail, physical violence, etc), there was a lot that could have been done with Abel. So color me surprised that his forced seductions (his father would tell him who to seduce for various reasons), were actually not that bad. One of them shows him young (15? 17?) and he's being asked to seduce a fairly attractive girl of 19 or thereabouts so that his dad could do business with her dad. OK. I can see that's not exactly fun but again, having read the first 3 books of ultraviolence it just made me sit back a moment and go "hmm." The thing is, if a pretty boy is being raised to use seduction as a tool for black mail, etc., it stands to reason that he wouldn't be limited to the wives and daughters of his father's competitors. I mean, if you're going to blackmail, I could see it being MORE devastating if you were forced to seduce the powerful husband or father of a rival company and then use that as the blackmail.

Again, I'm just basing this off the first 3 books. So the whole Abel story fell a little flat.

Then AGAIN, maybe I overlooked that part and it was implied somewhere. Honestly, I don't have it in me to double check that so definitely correct me if I'm wrong because I would like to know. :D

Queen Lucy is back!

Oh how I love this series and it's characters. Lucy has once again written an amazing story that had me hooked from the start. Wicked Dark Heathens focuses on Abel and Riley. I absolutely adored these two together, their chemistry was undeniable. Yet the way Abel handles Riley and her back story will have your heart melting. Lucy has a talent for mixing the right amount angst, drama, heat, danger, to deliver you a book that will most definitely leave you with the best book hangover.

First I love that it ended with leading to Braxton's story. Rylie's past, the chemistry between her and Able, the steamy scenes like the hotel bathroom. Dean and Avalon are good support characters, The writing was excellent, it hooks you in and before you know it you lose track of time. This is a must read.
