Jak and his allies venture through the portal in search of the longevity plant their king demands, but all Jak wants is to find the elder dragons.
Some say they’re extinct. Some say they’re in hiding.
If he can’t locate them, there won’t be anyone to teach his hatchling how to fly. Or to protect the dragon eggs preserved within a glacier on another world. Or to help him free his people from the tyrannical rule of the wizards.
Jak has no choice. He must find the dragons.
But some ancient secrets were buried for a reason. What he discovers may jeopardize not only Jak and his allies—the survival of the entire species of dragons may be at stake.
I enjoy this series a great deal and I cannot wait for the fifth book! Some parts, e.g. the mercenaries' POV are not as interesting as captivating as Jadora, Jak, and Malek are. For me at least.
Each of the books in this series has kept me enthralled and reluctant to put down for such mundane things as food, sleep, or even bathroom breaks. Her characters are so realistic. Their perseverance for good and safety of humankind is their foremost mission. It doesn't hurt to have a powerful good looking antagonist changing his thoughts. Of course it has more than enough drama going on to keep you reading. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Kindle gave me anthology of some of her stories, so I hunted down more of her books. Needless to say, she has me hooked.
I have hung in, but the humor has been replaced by cruelty. Your books have become so are dark. So much is a mess now days. I need light, not dark. Not insubstantial writing. But solid. Great stories. So I may try to read what you write. But your main audience is different not the people who have read you in the past. Not necessarily a bad thing, except I loose a author I have very much enjoyed. Thank you for your previous books.
I can't quite get enough of these books! This is an exciting series and I am excitedly awaiting the next books in this series. I try to read slowly so it doesn't seem like it is such a long wait, but I just can't read slow. Kudos to you, Lindsay Buroker, for another thrilling series.
As always Lindsay, continues to entertain the reader and leaving you wanting more. When she writes her next series I think I'll wait until till the series is finished before buying, and then read it. So I don't have to stop.
This book was thrilling and went into some unexpected ways which I had not envisioned. All rather incredibly good however. A new nation of super mages with unlimited power and the job of guarding the last of the older rational Dragons. Maybe in time they will feel they can work with the mages and Druid’s to save what’s left of the rest of the race.
Oh my goodness! Such a great book! I just absolutely love these characters and the world. These will be listed among my favorite book list! I cant wait for book 5! Lindsay is a great author. Her other series have been great also. I am happy to say she is in my top 5 favorite authors!!!!
Better than the previous books, but I still skimmed a lot of the internal monologues. Was I the only one tempted to stay with one story line instead reading the jumping back and forth?
Again I state, many of the asshole mages and kings need (and better get) their comeuppance. I found myself getting frustrated and angry by what they continue to get away with.
This book was enough of an improvement that I’m considering preordering instead of reading through Kindle Unlimited.
Mistakes: As far as I can tell, this book is well written and edited. However I have a problem with the fact that nobody bothers to take the dragon steel weapons from slain enemies. Nor to collect the magic helmets from the dead on the ship.
Plot: Off to another world to find the last remaining uninfected dragon.
Really enjoy this series. It just keeps getting better and better. Can't wait for the next book as I can't put it down until it's done. Worthy of a read that's for sure. It's well written and there is good character development.
I loved reading about their adventures. I love Jak and Shikari and his antics. I love Malek and Jadora’s relationship slowly coming together. I’ve enjoyed reading and listening to this series. It just get better with every book. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. It’s going to be a long wait though. I recommend all of Lindsey Buroker’s series.
Exploring the new world was eye-opening. The two features that fascinate me the most in this adventure include the stages of how young Shikari is maturing and the medical details of how the the grey brown dragons became evil. I’m very motivated to find out if and how this new threat will be overcome.
A continuation of Jak, Malek and Jadora's journey through the portal and into new worlds and new disasters. Highly enjoyable reading and would recommend to those who love epic stories.
This is an amazing portal adventure from one of my favorite authors. This fourth installment is fast paced excitement laced with many discoveries along the way. Each new discovery may be the key to solving some of the lingering problems that plague this well-drawn fantasy universe. Can't wait for the next book. I know she is getting close to wrapping up this wonderful adventure though I hope we can return sometime with so many realms left to discover! Highly Recommended for all fantasy readers!
I can't hardly wait for the next book in this series! Ms. Buroker writes great stories about dragons, that keep the reader on the edge of their seat and reading well past midnight.
Wow! What a rich world of fantasy and adventure. I am finding that these characters are exciting and fresh. Who wouldn't love to go along with a toddler dragon on these adventures! Outstanding!
Lots of adventure, a visit to a new world causes problems but eventually great things Malek! Malek and Jadora get closer, even though it is forbidden. And evil dragons come through the portal... Great story line with the usual snark and humour.
The further adventures of an amazing cast of characters. From Malek, Jadora, and Jak to Tezi, Sorath, and Rivlen, they all struggle through varied adventures that question their loyalties. Each book has you waiting with baited breath for the next. Certainly, an important author of our time. To appreciate all Lindsay has created for us, one should go to the beginning and start with The Emperor’s Edge series. Enjoy!!!
This has been one of the best series I have read in a long time. I hope anyone who enjoys this genre will take the time to read it. Can not wait for the next book in the series to come out.
Ms Buroker has gone and done it again…. She’s given me hours of happy delight in this next installment. I came for Shikari/Jak and left being a huge fan of Jadora as well. No spoilers, but I love how things for Jadora went in a completely unexpected direction. I’ll be waiting with bells on for the next in the series. 😊
These Dragonsgate novels are exciting, brutal, vicious, magical, with unrequited love, overbearing tyrants and dragons. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
