All I’ve wanted since my abduction from Earth’s first long-range space flight is freedom from my alien captives. But when I’m sold off to a Rhonar warrior, I learn I'm not the only one enslaved on this hellish planet, and survival comes at a cost.
The dominant alpha alien they call Xelan may be my new master, but his fair dealings—and devilishly sexy charms—give me hope for the future.
If I can strike an agreement with the battle-scarred warrior, perhaps together we can change the destiny of those bound in chains.
And if I can’t—well, I haven’t backed down from a fight yet.
However, as enemies line up to destroy the alien warriors and subjugate the galaxy, I discover that the universe has a sense of humor.
Fated mates are real. And Xelan declares me his.
How can I attain my freedom if I’m tied to another being? Even if his possessive growls and single-minded attention ignite my desires in ways I’ve only dreamed, I cannot be his.
But how long can I fight the pull of a mating bond before I lose my head—and my heart—to the heat burning between us?
Only the stars know.

I have to admit that I probably wasn’t the right reviewer for this book. It’s not a genre that I would have paid money for but I thought I would give it a try because the character of Xelan sounded...well no other word for it folks...he was ...HOT. Ana wanting her freedom from him showed just how much space radiation her little brain had absorbed. I know that romances of any genre are not usually “Jane Austen” material...(thank God...I hate Jane Austen} … or “high-class” literature. What they can be, and usually are...is a heck of lot fun and almost always entertaining on some level. All this said...I sat back to enjoy the story... and Xelan:) Now we come to Ana, our main character gal. I simply didn’t like her. I can’t imagine any one taking her to the closest city on Planet Earth let alone the next outer galaxy. Seems the main reason she elects to go to space is because...by her own words... “brave and wants new experiences.” Hijinks quickly ensue and she ends up crossing paths with our HOT main dude...Xelan. He's kind of a baddie in a good way. Or maybe I was just totally “smitten". He enjoys freeing slaves so yeah, we like Xelan...a LOT. Unfortunately, I just didn't care much for the writing. I know this is book #1 and I am tempted to try book #2 whenever it comes out...especially if Xelan is in it. The jarring flashbacks and info dumps were okay...but what really got me was the alien language. You know we couldn’t have aliens' named Jim, Jack or George but you could tell Ms. Moss had a really great time coming up with the most alien of alien names she could think of. It is absolutely NOT a bad book by any means. Dyed in the wool space adventure lovers will really, really like it. People that will read novels with any promise of romance in it at all will be a little critical depending on the sexual orientation and the species of the characters that they want to read about being romantic with each other or any other object of their affection...but those that have no problem putting their imaginations into overdrive???...they’ll be camped out on the sidewalk at the bookstore/library for the next installment.

ARC provided by NetGalley for an Honest Review As someone whose gone through many sci-fi phases I have to admit the plots of many books begin to blur. There are only so many paths for authors to take that it really is the detail that will set the book apart. I really enjoyed this book and the collection of tropes the author used to tell the story. It was also pretty fast paced & quick read.
The heroine Ava leaves a damaged Earth in search for hope for mankind when her ship is attacked and she is sold as a slave. She meets her future mate Xelan after he senses her pain and comes to rescue her aka buy her. In the middle of a mission of his own he must leave Ava to safely deliver his injured and pregnant charges. During this short time Ava is injured and the beast inside Xelan loses control. His people no longer have the ability to feel emotion. In fact after a virus wiped out his races females most males will wither and die without finding their mate who’d then kickstart their heart once again so to speak. The two definitely grow close in a short amount of time and both feel the effects of their ‘mating.’ However even in the midst of finding love, both want to end the horrible slave trade in this sector and take expose the powerful who are involved.
It was a really good start to a series but keep in mind while it fits well into the genre the book does follow the same pattern of many other sci-fi romances. By this I mean there’s just nothing overly unique to make it not blend in with the rest but it still made for a good read. Now that humans are clearly compatible with Xelan’s people, they have a chance to not only love but also fall in love. The book ends with a lot of hope especially for the hero’s sidekick and most trusted friend Brok who senses his end nearing. I imagine his book will be up next. There are a few threads open such as searching for the rest if ava’s crew mates who were taken as well as finding earth and creating an alliance thus providing his people with a chance to live and love. The book is set on a single planet and not really explored or explained but also not really an important part of the book, boo for me lol. Overall enjoyable sci-fi romance. However I do wish the heroine would have asked to go back for her dog!!!
I received this ARC from Owl City Press in exchange for an honest review.
Alien's Captive was so easy to devour. In this, you will meet Xelan and Ava. Even though it wasn't necessarily love at first sight, I will definitely say that these two had an instantaneous connection. The drama surrounding these two was okay but I just fell in love with their romance.
I'm not going to lie, it was hot and heavy when it needed to be and now I'm all kinds of excited for the next book in this series. Especially because of the chemistry brewing between these two. I just need more and I need Brok to find happiness too.
In the end, not sure what the action/drama will be for Brok but I'm down to devour it as well.
Very sexy and so much fun! Delivering both heat and heart, Alien's Captive is a voice-y foray into a faraway world that is sure to delight both long-standing fans of sci-fi romance new readers alike.
I had a lot of fun discovering this new world and the characters in it through the eyes of our human heroine, Ava.
One moment Ava was on a space flight from Earth to aid in the creation of new human colony, and the next she was kidnapped and sold as a slave in an alien market on an alien planet. No one around her even remotely looks familiar or friendly until she meets her new "owner". Xelan, a Rhonar warrior, is on the planet of Craxon to gather enough evidence to overthrow the greedy slavers that have overrun the planet. Xelan is part of a race that have lost most of their females and the males, including Xelan, are travelling the universe in search of a mate, or suffer dire consequences. The last thing he expected was to find his mate in a human woman.
Honestly, I didn't know what to think or expect when I started reading this, but I was pleasantly surprised. The world-building is done really well, and I can clearly imagine what it looks like and how it works. I wouldn't say it's perfect, I have a lot of questions about the slaver planet and the rebellion, but overall it all comes together nicely.
Xelan is super hot with an immense amount of honour and integrity and Ava quickly fell under his spell. He has to work a bit to convince her about the whole "you're my fated mate" situation, but the intrepid Ava is a quick study, and she seems to find her feet in no time at all.
It was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a story about Ava who is a research scientist who gets the chance for some adventure by joining in one of the 1st deep space explorations. On their journey their ship is hijacked and she is captured and being sold as a slave.
Luckily for Ava she is bought by a commanding alien called Xelan who feels this growing attraction towards her. She also feels this attraction and they proceed to fall in love.
She finds out that he is on a mission to help end this kind of slavery and helps him with this cause.
I absolutely loved this read! I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Alien’s Mate can’t come fast enough! The story building and the romance……wooooooo girl. I felt like I was truly there and able to visualize everything as it was happening with the vivid descriptions. If you loved Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian you will love Alien’s Captive!
“I received this books free for an honest review. However, this plays no part in how I feel about this story.” This was a great escape from the world. I love scifi romance that takes place off world. I love see the world building the author comes up with. This story as that and more.
*I was given this book in exchange for an honest review*
So, I may or may not have devoured this book in a little less than 2 hours. I love Alien romances, especially ones with fated mates. This book had everything I could ever want, I just wish it was a little longer! I believe it's supposed to be a novella though, so no worries!
The book begins with Ava being in a cage. Apparently she had been on a mission to learn more knowledge for Earth when her ship was...? Abducted? I'm not sure. I wish there was a little bit more backstory on Earth, because it appears that Earth has more advanced technology (like a language chip), and that there is a unified World government. I believe that this book is supposed to act as a prequel for the rest of the series though, because at the end of this novella they are headed towards Earth. So, hopefully we get to learn more about Earth in the latter books in this new series.
Xelan and Ava are fated mates, so there is insta-love. Insta-love is okay (for me) in fated mates books though because it could be realistic (in their world at least) so the insta-love did not bother me. They seem to have a lot of chemistry, and I really enjoyed the chapters with them together. I am also intrigued by their race (the Rhonar alien warriors) only having two states: the hunger and the void. I'm curious to read more about these states in the upcoming books. There wasn't a lot of details about how those two states work, but I was able to draw a few conclusions.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves Alien romances! I am actually really excited and eager to read the next book in the series.
Let me start out saying, I read a fair amount of alien romance/erotica-type books and this one has now topped in as one of my favorites. I just loved Xelan's character; strong and possessive without being obnoxious and Ava isn't just some damsel in distress. The steamy parts don't just suddenly hit you in the face...more of a connection was built between the characters and their story arcs felt more organic, making for an all-around more enjoyable read, in my opinion. I mean, it is a shorter book with an insta-love/fated mates trope so there's not a ton of character/world development, BUT what is told about the world is really intriguing!
I kind of would like my own catar. Justsayin'
Alien's Captive is sweet and steamy! I genuinely loved the connection between Xelan and Ava and I definitely recommend giving this book a try if you enjoy alien romance :)
I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book is.. okay. I'm on an alien binge lately so I did like that part, but the story moved very, very fast. The heroine goes from "Gah! Am I a slave? Must escape!" to "He's hot. I'm horny. I'll stay."
I mean, sometimes you want that. But even for this insta-love reviewer I found it a bit whiplash-y.
The plot was interesting but rushed. I would have liked to know more about every character. I know exactly how short and curvy the heroine is though lol. Mentioned a lot.
My other complaint is that this could have used another look through by an editor. A lot of the wrong your/you're. The author uses "full proof" when she means "fool proof". Little things like that which added up over the course of my reading.
It's a decent read if you just want some good alien smut though (I mean, there's a vibrating tongue so...)
Xelan and Ana are the best couple I've read about in a while. I will definitely be looking for the second book in the series. If you're looking for action, adventure, and a good fated mates book, look no further. This is the book for you. The characters are strong willed people with a lot of love between them. The evil presence is dealt with. What more could you need in a good book that keeps you going from beginning to end.

Wow. This book was good. I loved it! I found it a page turner with all the action. So well written that I even flinched about what was happening on the stage. I can't wait for Brok's story.

I decided to read this after scrolling through tiktok because I was unable to pick a new book to what book to read next from my never ending tbr list. And oh my. It was so, so good. The plot moves really fast, but I loved the characters and how they interacted together. It was a really good read, and I cant wait to read the next one.
“Would you kneel because I asked you to?” His forehead rested against mine, and his hand slid to my back to pull me flush with his body. “Because I demanded it?”
Alien romance is a genre that I find myself always coming back to. It almost never disappoints (at least for me) and I almost always have a great time. Alien's Captive was no different. I needed a bit of a genre change and when this popped up I read the synopsis and decided to give it a go.
Ava (the fmc) starts the book off being held captive after her long-range space flight ship and crew have been captured and ends up being put up for sale. Xelan (the mmc) happens upon her and purchases her. She is untrusting of the alien but slowly learns that his motives are more noble than she had assumed and finds out that he is essentially working with rebels to take down the corrupt government and those that enslaved not only Ava but countless of other aliens in the galaxy. As the two spend more time together, it comes to fruition that they are fated mates and they will do whatever it takes to keep each other safe.
This was such a fun read full of all the things that I absolutely love about alien romances. Fated mates will get me literally every single time and I loved the chemistry and build up that happened throughout the entire plot. I'm definitely planning on continuing this series!
Ava and her Alien is a HEA story. I always enjoy the authors descriptions of the alien worlds and what the Aliens look like. The imagination they put into these stories is amazing. Now that we know there truly is alien life out there, I wonder if they could be as wonderful or as dreadful as these descriptions. This was a fun read.
The plot of the book was very interesting. I love the added details from the author. My only complaints is that the female lead (Ava) back story didn't develop the way it should before she met Xelan (male lead). Furthermore their romance fell flat and developed all over the place. One moment she's weary, the next moment she's in love.

This is my first time reading for this author Tina Moss and what a brilliant start to what I hope will be a series. I read many alien abductions books but this book is now on top of my favourites list and Ava and Xelan story was perfectly written it didn’t throw these two together and call them mated it was built with trust and longing that they both desired. Ava and the crew where kidnapped from the spaceship they where traveling in by evil alien slave traders and are now on planet Craxon to be sold off, Ava isn’t sure what happened to the others but she is just brought up to be sold off. Xelan is a Rhona warrior and with his brather Brokdar (Brok) they are on a mission to bring the planet down and end the slavery and on there way to there ship the pass the slave market and Xelan is suddenly thrown from his mount with the waves of emotions coming from one cell pull him in and so he goes to investigate and finds a female that stirs up feelings within him that have long been forgotten but why he isn’t sure so he buys her on the spot and will return to collect on his way back. Ava I’m about to be auctioned off when a gorgeous humanoid male with the most amazing blue eyes buys me than walks away. Then the devil arrives to take her but she has been sold already to Xelan and this angers him the Lord Denthar Calth as the slaver called him but he has a plan to get her for himself. Offering a tube to the slaver he tells him to tell Xelan it’s a gift from him to use on her and as it turns out it is an electric whip which the slaver is using it on her back but she is saved by Xelan before it gets any worse. Now safely in his arms she and relax even with the pain but she doesn’t understand why he makes her feel safe and scared all at the same time. Just before he arrives to get the female he is hit with painful emotions that screams for him to save her and he does but she was still hurt badly. Can Ava trust this Rhonar warrior who did save her and can Xelan tell her he knows she is his mate that he’s been searching for her for a very long time and can they complete there mission. To find out what happens next get this great book you won’t be disappointed.
Alien's Captive follows Ava a scientist on a deep space flight who gets abducted and sold as a slave. Xelan an empathic Rhonar alien saves her and that's were Ava's adventures really begin.
I loved this story so much we had a mission that Brok and Xelan needed to complete but we also had all the stuff around Ava.
The premise of an alien race doomed to die out because of the lack of females, was great and the connection between Xelan and Ava was steamy to say the least. I did feel sorry for Brok though.
The Rhonar species are something else entirely and I must admit whilst our female character screamed out, I gasped in surprise LOL
Tina Moss really knows how to set the scene for this outer worldly adventure, not only does she propel you into that universe but the description is very vivided to say the least!
I really enjoyed this adventure and I was please with all the outcomes. I cant wait to re read Alien's Mate next!
There are SO MANY of these alien romance books, you can really get lost on Kindle Unlimited. This one is very similar to most story lines of a young human woman being rescued by an alpha male alien, but the the writing itself is great - there were a few typos here and there, but I read an ARC, so I assume these were probably fixed. I'm saying this because so many of these books are very clearly self-published and unreadable - that's not the case with this one (which makes sense, since it's put out by an indie press and has a decent cover). The plot moved smoothly, world building existed but was not dry and overdone, there were just enough characters to keep it interesting but not overwhelming, and it had a nice HEA with hints of what's to come in the rest of the series, which I would be happy to check out.
It wasn't really anything out of this world remarkable, but if you're reading a book with a bare chested alien dude floating through space on the cover, are you really expecting that? No. No, you're not. You're expecting to have a bit of fun, which this author clearly understands. I liked that it was a novella because I only really like to read these things in small doses, to be honest. I hope the rest of the series will be novellas, too.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.
This is a fantastic read, it’s well written with amazing characters and world building. It’s full of emotion, passion, steamy scenes and a happily ever after ending.
Ava has been abducted by aliens and is locked in a cage. When she is taken out it’s by a horrifying alien who sells her to a tall blue alien who leaves her there. When she tries to escape she runs into a grey demon who gives her slaver a weapon to break her. Delaney is on a mission to start a rebellion posing as a lord. He’s got empathetic powers and as soon as he sees Ava he buys her but first he needs to deliver to slaves they have freed. When he returns he’s furious to see Ava’s wounds and they take her back to his home. When he learns her name he suddenly collapses, when he wakes he realises she is his mate. Thing is he has a mission to finish and he’s got to carry it out while keeping his mate safe.

Thanks to the author, Owl City Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to review this ARC with honesty.
So it's been awhile since I've read a book about alien romance (aside from Gena Showalter's series) and I wasn't completely sure about how I was going to feel. But I had a really good time reading this. It's not too long and the story doesn't drag. It revolves around an earth woman who is abducted from her space travels to find herself being sold as a slave. In steps a mysterious man (alien) who saves her from being sold off to any sadistic bastard and intends to get her to safety. Only instead, he starts to recognize this woman is far more important to his life than he'd ever dream.
Very cute story. I'm not going to lie, I laughed at a particular vibrating...yeah...I'll leave that.
Overall, the story was enjoyable. I wish we got a little more of them together but I'm still satisfied with what we got.
Ava was abducted by aliens to be sold in the slave market. When Xelan, a Rhonar warrior, arrived with the intention of fighting against the slavery, he feels a strong pull toward the woman who is being sold. He purchases her and leaves her there until he can return.
But someone else who wanted her arranged for her to be beaten. Will she blame Rhonar for what happened to her? Will it anger her that, despite his apparent kindness, he purchased her as a slave? Will he be able to make her understand what happened to her? And when he tells her they are Fated Mates, will she fight against what she sees as another form of captivity? Or will she feel the bond that will unite them forever?
The characters are underdeveloped while background or consistency. She used the "yet" as a transition 4 times in two pages. The scenes were rushed and disjointed. He can't feel his own emotions but can feel other's emotions. But the author then implies he dislikes slavery, feels connection with his "brathers," which is inconsistently formatted, and also has experienced desire. She's supposedly terrified and hurt, but her dialogue is inexplicably sassy. Ugh. I love a strong FMC, but she's just so inconsistently written that it's painful and not engaging.
Nice start to a new series that is guaranteed to keep you wanting more. The storyline is solid as well as the plot. The characters are fully developed…the Rhonar Warriors look enticing. I only gave this one four stars because I thought the author could have done more with the character of Ava. She is a scientist sold into slavery and she is on the sidelines wimpy. The author missed the mark. She would have read as a more enjoyable character if she had used her brain in some way instead of parading around in a leather like suit. ❤️
