Willow

Six years ago, I made a mistake. The worst mistake I could have ever possibly made. I fell in love with the wrong person and … I told him.

Ryan’s always been with me ever since I can remember. It’s been the two of us—side by side. Through every new beginning, every new ‘family’, and every failure. Is it any wonder that the love I had for him turned into something different—something deeper? Something utterly rotten?

And is it any wonder that he hates me for it now?

Ryan

I’m a damaged soul, and she’s the only thing that’s ever held me together. But the one woman I want is the one woman I can never have.

She thinks I hate her for her confession, and maybe a part of me does. What I hate more, though, is that I have to push her away to keep her safe. That I have to pretend like I don’t fucking want her when she’s all I’ve been able to think about for the last six years.

We’re no fucking Romeo and Juliet. We’re much worse than that.

A love like ours was doomed from the start.

**NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: Alright guys, I’m gonna need your trust on this one. This might seem like a crazy idea and I assure you, it is. But I’m here, on my knees now, for you―asking you to trust me. TRUST. IN. ME. It’s gonna be fine. Just get to the end and you’ll understand why I had to do this. This is a STANDALONE book.**

spoilers--

ad author already given us readers spoiler from the first page on the author's note stating, the main characters are not real twins, and not blood related at all. They’re “twins” & in the prologue the main characters are 15 & the heroine admits to her “brother” she's in love with him. They’re in a foster home & the hero feels the exact same way for her, but knows their relationship can’t work out, he yells at her, calls her disgusting, and then gets in trouble. Homeboy gets sent to juvie repeatedly until he is aged out. They never speak again.

They are 21 now & homegirl just transferred to the same college homeboy goes to, but doesn’t know. They bump into each other & right away the hero is nasty towards her. You know how it goes. You get the visual here. Anyways, one night at a bar the hero’s best friend talks with the heroine for the first time & basically keeps an eye out for her while the hero is getting sucked off in the bathroom. More name calling ensues, then rumors start spreading around campus saying the heroine is stalker level obsessed with the hero (very juvenile). He still bullies her, confronts her in the library, and finally hooking up, but then of course continuing on calling her disgusting & perverted.

There’s a party, a guy drugs, assaults (no rape) the heroine, and somehow the hero saves her (obviously). She ends up vomiting & passing out in the car, but he doesn’t take her to the hospital. Instead they finally have sex, so now everything is peachy between them & their best friends find out about their relationship, meaning heroines bestie is appalled by their incestuous relationship & threatens her with going to the police & the hero’s bestie throughout the entire book is like okay, you think you’re siblings, but you’re not & I fully support this relationship.

They get into a car accident, the heroine is injured, needs blood, the hero’s like hello, I’m her twin, I’ll donate, but then his bestie comes into the room, is like no, I’M HER TWIN, and I’LL DONATE MY BLOOD. The hero is shocked, OBVIOUSLY. This whole convoluted thing was basically how the hero & the best friend were switched at birth (there’s a tv show title switch as birth too) when they were babies bc the bestie comes from money & someone wanted that money, yada, yada, ain’t nobody give a fuck. So this whole time, the night at the bar, the hero’s best friend knew they were actually twins, not the hero. look "bff" dont do that type of shit, ugh.

credits goes to my gurl STEPHANIE for taking an L 🗑 on this book & giving us the deeds <3 hehehe

Cualquier romance taboo, me encanta.

Lucy Smoke is a new to me author so I really didn't know what to expect going into this book but I do know many of my book friends have read and LOVED her previous books so there really wasn't any hesitancy on reading it even after I read the Authors Note. While reading parts of the story I had to keep reminding myself about the Authors Note, so that I could come to grips with the Taboo aspect of the story because it's just wrong on so many levels. The ending, well lets just say that came out of left field, I swear I usually pick up on these things but that one blindsided me.

Willow and Ryan have an unusual love/hate relationship and it's completely justified on both sides. After not seeing one another for six years they run into each other on their college campus where Ryan is a star quarterback. There is a lot of bullying that goes on in this book so be warned if that's a trigger for you.

I would recommend this book to those that enjoy Dark Romances, Taboo Romances, or Bully Romances. I would also highly suggest reading the Authors Note so you have all the info you need before going into the story, yes she does give a spoiler but it's one that you may want to know.

Happy Reading!!!

I LOVE this trope and have no shame about it. Well written books with this taboo are very hard to find and I was so excited to read this one but wow did this miss the mark for me completely. First, the author’s note right in the beginning of the story spoils the book. So I was angry but okay as long as the feels and tingles are there.. but the prologue made me uncomfortable AF! They were 15 and the hero was saying things that just grossed me out! I have no triggers but that was just.. nasty. Anyway, this story takes place in college but to me it felt like 10th grade drama with the way these “adults” were acting, starting rumors and whatnot. There was a scene where Willow gets drugged and assaulted at a party and she’s puking everywhere. So what happens next, you may ask? Willow and Ryan start making out and getting down to business. No medical attention? No brushing her teeth at least?? Lol those are necessary scenes!! Oh and of course, this is her first time and she comes…??? Ugh. And then there’s a twist that was predictable but the execution left me scratching my head. So disappointed and underwhelmed with this one.

✨ARC Review✨

Don’t get me wrong…I love a good steamy, smutty romance book , in fact, they are some of my favorite books. However, this one just completely missed the mark for me. I know sometimes with steamy romances, they can be played out to where they seem incredulous and unbelievable, and this is certainly one of the ones that falls into that category for me. There is an author note at the beginning addressing the “taboo”, and after reading the note, I decided to still go through with reading, but ultimately I just couldn’t connect with this book. I am not really sure what I expected/hoped for. It was difficult to get the “taboo” out of my mind to focus otherwise. It was always sitting there and just wasn’t my cup of tea. Once I tried to get past that, then there was the ending, and that was what pretty much sealed the deal for everything in regards to my rating, as it was just so far fetched. This was my first book by Lucy Smoke, and I would certainly give more of her books a try, but this particular one was unfortunately a huge miss for me. It is also hard for me to describe the plot/taboo of the book without spoiling it. It is a stand-alone, enemies to lovers, forbidden, dark romance with dual POV between the two main characters Willow and Ryan in a college setting.

⚠️CW/TW: as stated above, there is an author’s note at the beginning that addresses the taboo. I STRONGLY suggest looking into this further. The note does contain a spoiler that addresses the main characters are led to believe something that ends up not being true. Again, research further if you have potential triggers…

After 6 years apart, Willow and Ryan bump into each other again when they end up going to the same college, but it’s not a happy meeting. Willow and Ryan share a secret that could ruin their lives, but like magnets the two can’t seem to resist their attraction no matter how hard they try—consequences be damned!

Oohhh boy… I knew shit was about to get wild when I got absolutely BLINDSIDED in the first chapter… But I was unprepared!!!

Despite everything, I found myself rooting for the two of them (🥴 I know), and was still shook by the final twist Lucy threw in there (even if I knew it was coming, it just wasn’t how I expected it to play out).

Overall, if you’re looking for a taboo read with a little bullying, a good bit of spice, and a whole lot of wrong… Look no further!

I love a good enemies to lovers romance but add taboo or forbidden twist to it and I’m sold ! This story was not at all what I was expecting it to be it was so much more and I trust Lucy immensely on her storytelling so I knew I was in for a twisted passionate ride . This story was so good it was emotional angsty passionate and so hot Willow and Ryan’s tale is such a twisted whirlwind of emotions I devoured this in one night! The twists and turns I didn’t see coming and that huge plot twist omg sooo freaking good! Lucy Smoke is by far one of my favorite authors in this industry for a reason and this story just proves it !

This is some dark, taboo stuff! 😬

I was offered this ARC from Book Sprout, and I love a free dark romance read. I just really had no idea just how dark this book would be though... until I read the trigger warning, and consequently, the spoiler given up by the author. So, I went in with good faith that there would be a HEA, and approached it clinically, trying to wrap my head around the psychology surrounding incest.

This book involves incest. How on Earth could there be an HEA?

The two MCs were dropped off together at a "Safe Surrender" site when they were infants. Both were raised as fraternal twins growing up in the system. They, and the reader, are to believe them to be brother and sister. That doesn't make it true. Even if the two MCs shouldn't have had these feelings, they did, and what a trip reading about it.

Now, had I not read the spoiler in the beginning, I think this book would have been much more difficult to read, as I find the idea of incest disgusting. Even as I read the more intimate matter, I still had to struggle with the fact that both characters thought of themselves as blood relatives, and there was no letting go of that ick factor. It would've been 10 times worse had I not spoiled it for myself. Aside from that, I was glued to the whole debauchery.

The book itself was well written. The struggle the characters faced, between what was morally right and what felt right, was believable.

The ending/resolution seemed problematic. Had two babies been kidnapped from one high profile family and another at the same time, their conveniently timed drop would've not gone unnoticed. At least that is what I believe to be true.

I didn't love this, but I didn't hate this either.

Woah!

Poisoned Paradise by Lucy Smoke is an awesome addition to the Black Heart Presents Heaven and Hell series. Super taboo. Just jump in and embrace it without reading the trigger warning in the beginning of the book and trust the author. If you read it, it’ll spoil the storyline. Well written with great twists and turns. Starts off as a bit of a bully romance, but morphs into so much more. Super angry alphahole and a sweet and endearing heroine who have both been put through the wringer. Super hot chemistry and smexy times. Don’t want to say much more because it’ll spoil the experience. Great read.

*audiobook

Let's start with what i enjoyed:

-The taboo concept/aspect.

I loved a forbidden taboo romance, all day err day, so that definitely is always a plus.

-The smut and chemistry was not TERRIBLE. Yes, it should have been better, but it wasn't the worst...

Why it's a 1 star:

- cat fights.

Look, i don't know how many times I'm gonna say this, and I will say it as many times as needed, but creating plot space out of female characters being petty/cruel to one another, and even physically fighting each other over something that centers a man, will ALWAYS take away many stars from my rating of your book.

I don't care for it. It makes me not enjoy your book.

I do not enjoy the female characters being reduced to glorified vaginas fighting for which one of them gets their holes punched the most by a specific dick... That is one of the lowest, and laziest ways of writing female characters conflicts, and tension.

If the force is TOO STRONG and you absolutely MUST write your female characters not getting along, don't make it be over a man... over a dick.

That is unbecoming. And it bores me. And frankly, your female readers deserve better.

- And another reason for my low rating...

Don't read further, spoilers ahead...

-

Look, i think i sort of ruined the experience for myself because i checked out the reviews before i dove in and spoiled it for myself, and it turns out they are not actually related... so the whole taboo thing was thrown out of the window for me before i started reading lol, and look, that's partly my fault. I will admit that lol.

BUT i still think it's a cop-out to make them "not related after all" cause you partly wasted my time, I"m not gonna lie.

Also, the taboo aspect should have been played with better, that's why the smut, and the angst over how "wrong " it is was lacking for me a bit, especially on the MMC side.

Like, the fmc was already in love or whatever, which is not my fav, because i much prefer when the mmc falls first and harder, BUT we could have still played into how TORTURED mmc was for being so attracted and unable to help himself with dirty thoughts over his alleged sister.

One of the best part of the forbidden trope is the angst, the torture of wanting something you shouldn't have, but that was missing here.

Anyway, that's my time.

I love taboo romances, but this didn't hit me the way one should.

1 star for this NOT taboo story. I’m kind of insulted as a reader.

This book was supposed to be taboo? Seriously? The trigger warning spoils the fact that they aren’t really brother and sister. While I usually appreciate trigger warnings, I didn’t think it made sense in this case. I would think that anyone who decided to read this book is ok with the subject matter or they wouldn’t have chosen to read it. So disclosing that information could really spoil the story for some people. Strike 1.
But beyond that, nothing about this book was taboo or “dark”. We never really get to see Ryan and Willow act like siblings or develop a familial relationship because the story starts off when they’re older with Ryan already hating Willow, and continues in a typical bully romance fashion. If the book started at a point when they were younger, or even if we got some flashback scenes, then it would be so much easier for the reader to buy into the plot and be emotionally invested. Strike 2.

Now I’ve definitely enjoyed bully romances that have a good plot, but Ryan’s character is just awful. He treats Willow like garbage because he secretly “loves” her and can’t have her, but again, we don’t see any meaningful scenes between the two to justify his angst and anger over the situation. It just seemed like I was reading about some random asshole who gets off on bullying some random weak heroine. He doesn’t even have romantic thoughts about her. He just thinks about how much he wants to fuck her. I also wasn’t loving the descriptive OW sex he engaged in and the way he carelessly discussed having sex with many women. Strike 3.

ALSO, and this was a big issue for me, Ryan was supposed to be a “damaged” foster kid with violent tendencies and a juvie record. So I was expecting his character to be darker and edgier. But no, he turned out to be yet another cocky and popular college quarterback (yawn). The all American golden athlete type does nothing for me, and I wouldn’t have bothered reading the book had I known he’d turn into your typical jock. Strike 4.

Now, on to probably the biggest issue for me….

“Tanner shakes his head and turns away from me, shoving a hand through the top of his hair. He just as quickly turns back. "You're sure?" he asks. "Willow and you—I mean, you two don't even look alike."

“Well," I snap, "the two of us were found wrapped up together and deposited in one of those twenty or so years ago. We were only a few months old, but whoever documented us probably had us checked out. Think about it, Tanner. We're the same fucking age. We both have brown hair and brown eyes.”

…. SERIOUSLY?! Two babies (who don’t even look alike) were dropped off together and both have the most common hair and eye color so naturally they’re fraternal twins?! And the entire plot of this story rests on this shaky theory that nobody in the story even bothered to confirm? This was WAY too unbelievable for me. Strike 5.

This book was not dark in the slightest. I would MAYBE call it a gray on most peoples scales. It also didn’t feel taboo at all. The only type of reader I’d maybe recommend this to is someone who is looking to dip their toes into the taboo pond without reading a full blown taboo story. If you want a true taboo book with this theme, read “Forbidden” by Tabitha Suzuma, or “Like Butterflies” by K Webster.

I feel that the blurb was very misleading in many ways, and that’s what upsets me as a reader. The author advertised something that would have been incredibly unique and memorable and in reality created a forgettable cookie cutter smut book. The story, characters, and relationship between the MCs were nothing like I was expecting based on the blurb. It’s such a shame when authors have great ideas but are too scared to push the envelope and instead take the story in a more mainstream direction. It was her book and her choice, so that’s fine. But my biggest gripe remains being misled and the poor execution.
I don’t appreciate when authors do this, and I don’t think I’ll be wasting my time here again.

I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK! I liked the forbidden relationship between Willow and Ryan so much. I felt heartbroken for both characters.

However, I think the author kinda spoiled it a bit for me. She put a trigger warning in the beginning of the book that had the "big twist" in it. She should have left the TW vague. I think I would've had a much different reading experience. NOT necessarily better because I loved it, only different.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! Just be aware there are some triggers. Don't read what they are. 😊

“There is a Charm about the forbidden that makes it unspeakably desirable.”

I am grateful that I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved a previous dark romance series from this author, so I was confident I would devour this one, too.
This book is about a forbidden romance and right off the bat, I knew the story would be tricky, but the author included a note at the beginning, asking the reader to trust the process and stick it out until the end.
She did an OUTSTANDING job with this subject and this story.
The character introduction and the portrayal of complicated feelings was wonderfully done.
You can really feel the chemistry coming off the page between the two MC's while also getting a sense of the depth of their pain from not being able to be together and from being unable to express their true feelings for one another.
I couldn’t get through this book fast enough, devouring it in only two sittings.
This is definitely a one click and rearrange your schedule type of book.

Well Sheesh, when Lucy Smoke says Taboo, she means Taboo!! I will admit that i do think it would be too much for some people so definitely read the authors notes at the start which does contain a spoiler BUT I think it's needed and it makes it easier!

I liked it! It's full of angst, confusion, hurt, want and a connection that you just can't deny! I'm not sure what to say without spoiling it!
Bottom line?....I was intrigued! It kept me glued, and although the forewarning is kinda a spoiler, you still don't know how it's all going to unravel and that's what I liked!!

I do think if you're unsure then just don't, I don't understand why people will storm on and read, then complain? YOU WERE WARNED!!! If it's not your cup of tea - move on!!! It angers me that people read TABOO and then complain?! Why?? 🤬

Anyway! Rant over 🤭 I really liked it!! 4.5

"If this is what's wrong, then I don't ever want to be right again."

I went into this story blind. Normally, I would read the triggers and author's note first , especially when it's forbidden/taboo. But, after reading the Sick Boys series, I had a lot of faith in Lucy Smoke and she sooooo did not disappoint. In the beginning, I was so disgusted in myself on how much I shipped these two. But, glad the way things turned out. Hot, hot chemistry and strong tension. I felt so dirty reading some of these scenes but sh*t, it was some good stuff. Believe me, huuuuge Jace and Clary vibes going on here. (If you've ever read The Mortal Instruments, then you know what the f*ck I mean.) I really enjoyed this story.

Holy wow!!! This book was good!!! I love a good enemies to lovers, but I also love a good enemies to lovers where there's a past between them it's just 👌👌👌

Willow starts college, not knowing Ryan, who she hasn't seen in 6 years also attends. He does everything he can to drive her away from him and make her hate him. Also that library scene... 😏😏😏 Willow does everything she can to not be seen, she keeps to herself and doesn't tend to socialize, unless Lana drags her out. Willow is the center of some pretty nasty rumors, but she doesn't let any of it really get to her since she knows the truth.

Lemme tell you... I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. This book has twists and twists I did not see coming at all!! Gah! I've read a few Lucy Smoke books, but this one is just amazing!

I friggin loved this book. First, I want to warn that this book does have a heavy taboo aspect, so only venture in if you're into that trope!

I'm not going to say too much about this book because I don't want to give anything away. Going into this book blind and having the suprise factor, completely made this story for me.

This is a taboo, enemies to lovers story. Willow and Ryan's story has a real dark, forbidden romance vibe, that will have you desperate for their HEA.

I proceeded with caution with this one as it says taboo, no warning of why or what it was.
Damn i wasn't expecting that.
Ryan and Willow are reunited after 6 years apart and its gritty, angsty and raw as hell.
Reading it and thinking i shouldn't be enjoying this as much as i do but i was mesmerised and wanted to know more of the story.
A must read for any taboo/ forbidden trope fans.

While reading Poisoned Paradise by Lucy Smoke, I spent almost all of the time wondering what is wrong with me. Because this book is so taboo. Like the most wrong and twisted kind of taboo and I am sitting here feeling all the feels and getting excited. But I trusted the author and it paid because she pulled everything together in a complex and convoluted way. Without giving anything away, I would suggest you to read this steamy forbidden story with open mind because everything will make sense at the end.

Ryan and Willow were growing up at the same foster home and they had a special bond. Until Willow admits her feelings and Ryan had to leave. Now after six years, they meet again in Trinity College. Ryan hate that Willow has brought back every feeling he wanted to destroy. And Willow doesn't know if it's a dream or a nightmare to find the man she loves again. Because they are forbidden. So wrong. They just cannot happen.

So first disclaimer, I didn't read the blurb or the author's note at the beginning of the book that gave clear spoiler about the taboo aspect of the story. So you would know what is happening before you start the book. I didn't. And so my experience was something different. I was trying to make peace with the taboo part while failing to judge Ryan or Willow for their feelings. The author definitely gave both of them a lot of intense reactions. Guilt. Shame. Passion. Desperation. Angst. Anger. Hate. Love. Fear. It was a volatile mix. Ryan is a broken guy with so much love for Willow and you can feel just how much pain he is in. And sweet and innocent and loving Willow's heartbreak will break you. The chemistry was super hot. The forbidden part was written really well. And my jaw dropped when that twist came that unravelled the whole story for me! I wanted to kill her so bad but I was also relieved because that twist meant they can now be together without any obstacle. How? You have to read this to know.

Taboo with a Twist
4 stars!
For some reason, the power of the forbidden is like a drug to me. Wanting something I can’t have only makes me want it even more.

Is it wrong of me to actually have wanted this book to be more taboo than what it was? Lucy Smoke set up such a deliciously, dangerous love story that I was addicted to through the end. For those that are on the fence of a forbidden/taboo romance, I think you’d really love this book if you read the author's note. For those who do love the trope, I think you’d highly enjoy this for the feel of it.

Right off the bat I knew it wasn’t going to be as it was, and part of me was a little disappointed in that, but the way this story was written and that hell of a twist near the end, totally makes up for it! I can usually see one coming, but I couldn’t with this book and that's total props to Lucy for coming up with such a plot. Poisoned Paradise was set up really well in all the taboo aspects. You could feel all the angst, bringing forth all the tension and suspense.

We meet our two main characters, Ryan and Willow at a young age, and due to circumstances of trying to not give into temptation, we meet them again years later, and it fuels that fire growing between them even more. Ryan is a complex character trying to fight the battle between right and wrong. He also happens to be a douche, but you know, we love them mean. Willow is the sweet girl who stays in her lane. But don’t let that fool you.

I loved seeing how Ryan’s and Willow’s dynamic slowly changed. And that library scene yall… jesus. There was a sense of mystery with Poisoned Paradise for a few reasons and it kept me at the edge of my seat. Poisoned Paradise has enemies to lovers, but there is also some bullying involved and it made this all the more interesting. I loved Tanner so much but Lana… she got on my nerves.

I wish this book felt a little bit darker, but given the subject matter, I could see why it wasn’t. ⭐️ 4.40 heavenly stars⭐️

A taboo romance finally worthy of this world, I knew I had to wait to finally find a romance that could really fit the bill of this series. Lucy Smoke delivers the perfect gem.

Told in dual POV a tale of forbidden love and guilt ridden feelings. Willow and Ryan are in love with each other but life has set them apart cursing them with the ultimate unlucky fate.

~𝙑𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨~

If taboo romance is your daily bread to enjoy this to the fullest, I would suggest to go into it blindly, hold your breath, trust the author till the end and bear in mind that nothing is ever what it seems.

If you’re new to this genre and are willing to dip your feet in the water then by all means read the author’s foreword. You’ll get a minor spoiler but you can read safely as you know what’s in store for you.

~ 𝙄𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣~

I enjoyed this story and I’m glad this author delivered something juicy to add to the collection. I liked Willow, sometimes she was too gullible but I still felt a connection with her. Ryan behaves like a real bully but it’s clear it’s all a front as he tries to overcome his demons. The narrative flows easily, I wish there were less repetitions, more action and variety in the inner monologues, a thicker plot with more structure would have made this pitch perfect.

RATING: 2.5 ⭐️

⚠️ DO NOT read the author's note or warning if you are accepting of taboo romances - twincest specifically. The warning RUINED my experience while reading this book.

This is book 5 in the Black Heart Romance presents Heaven & Hell Series. You do not have to read the previous books to understand this story. The only thing tying them together is the club Purgatory; each book has mentioned an employee or encounter from the club.

The only reason this story is not a 1⭐️ is because I enjoyed the characters as a whole. I'll do my best to give an impartial review, as if I had never read the warnings.

We open with a glimpse into the childhood of Ryan and Willow at a questionable group/foster home. Willow confesses her feelings and Ryan freaks out, because surprise surprise he feels the same way. So he goes and blows things up and lands in juvie.

Fast forward to college and life is different. Ryan is a star football player and Willow is new to his school. A mild form of bullying ensues and tensions between the two rise. Add in a ridiculous cheerleader who acts like shes in high school still and a star basketball player who feels above the law and you have a recipe for disaster.

Willow needs to be saved from said basketball player at party where he drugs her and tires to rape her.Ridiculously enough that's the same night the twins reconnect in all the right (or wrong) ways. And you know how things go, once the flood gates are opened there's no closing the levees. So when their best friends find out what they've been doing between the sheets, and in classrooms, things become awkward.

Yet its the twists that are revealed around 90% into the story that will make you wish the book was longer, something I don't think you'll ever hear me say again. I mean I seriously wanted all of those events to come to light around 60% way through the story. That would have allowed for greater closure and understanding. We could have also seen the twins under better circumstances.

All in all, this is the second tamest story of the group, falling behind Heaven which was pure sugary sweet compared to the others.

Beautifully Taboo

One of the biggest absolute taboo you can think of and Lucy tackles it and makes beautiful. Brother and Sister. Yes, you heard me, this taboo is beautiful!!! Ryan and Willow spend their life growing up together in the foster system side by side believing that they are twins. Both begin to have feelings for each other, romantic 🥰 not familial. They fought it and spent 6 years apart, one going to juvie and the other getting adopted.

Chance meeting when they both find out they are at the same college. Those six year essentially went up in smoke. Ryan becomes an asshole, and I mean ASSHOLE, to try and keep Willow at arms length. Their passion and chemistry was too strong, and eventually they gave up resisting. Regardless of the taboo aspect, they wanted each other. And they. Were. Hot. 🥵 🔥

Well after an incident, they in fact found out they WEREN’T RELATED!!!! Btw, this is very clearly explained at the beginning of the book, that there is no incest in the book, so I’m not really giving anything away here!!!! I just LOVE the way this relation was exposed!!! I had ideas of where the revelation of Ryan and Willow not being twins, let alone related would happen, but lemme tell you, this wasn’t one of them!!!! You need to read to find out on your own!!!

If you love forbidden taboo romances this angst filled novel is the one for you! Willow and Ryan grew up in foster care together and were separated by Ryan's actions. They reunite in college and try to stay away from each other and fight their feelings. I can't really give much plot away because this book has plenty of taboo and twist elements. I loved them all! What I can say is both main characters are without a doubt obsessed with the other but know it's wrong and constantly have to battle that day in and day out. Ryan is super possessive over Willow and isn't afraid to show it. Willow is confused but tries keeping her distance from Ryan to avoid making him more angry or causing more trouble. But she's definitely a good girl heroine with a dirtier side in the bedroom. The steamy scenes are hot and heavy without a doubt and while this story dark there is a HEA.

Holy TABOO - NOT!
A flipping amazing attention grabber. This story is twisted, intense and had me bound to the edge of my seat with unblinking eyes feasting on every cruel twisted pain filled word with plenty of angst, sass and heartache as the cruel drama and banter spins in and out of control. The pages get steamy with exciting chemistry and the undeniable attraction that explodes along with the secret that binds this fantastic story together. I never read a Lucy Smoke story before this one but by the end of the day my kindle will have a few waiting for me to read.

Well... where do I even begin? This book was not what I expected, definitely taboo/forbidden in a big way, but I loved it! I was so intrigued and interested to get Ryan and Willow’s backstory. It turned out to be a little bit twisty, and a 100% original, unique story that was told in a great way. I‘ve read several books by this author and I love her story telling and writing style! If you don’t mind the forbidden, this book is a great read!

I received an ARC through Booksprout and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Willow and Ryan grew up in foster care, thinking they were twins and the will confesses she loves him and not like a sister. Ryan ends up in juvie and they are reunited in college. What will happen when they discover the truth about themselves. Fast-paced dark/taboo read with loads of drama, suspense and emotion. Great characters and entertaining read that draws you in from beginning to end. I loved it.

Holy taboo bully romance! I actually enjoyed this dark, forbidden story and my heart was all over the place. Willow is a smart, introverted, slightly confident student. But she has a dark secret that she's tried to bury deep in her heart. Ryan is cocky, quarterback with a hidden connection with Willow. But he wants nothing to do with her. I loved the push and pull in this book...the crazy teasing, mysterious and not so surprising bullying, undeniable attraction...I couldn't stop turning the pages. This story is filled with high angst, drama, steam and stalker behavior. All of my favorite dark themes. If you love a naughty taboo romance, look no further because as crazy as the premise is for this dark story, everything pulls together in the end.
