Two alpha attorneys collide in this HOT second-chance romance from author Michele Lenard.
The only thing worse than a broken heart is coming face to face with the person who broke it.
Harper – I was never the type of woman you bring home to mother. I didn’t want romantic gestures or declarations of love, just a good romp between the sheets and I’d be on my way. Then I met him. I tried to fight the temptation, suspecting that one night wouldn’t satisfy me. I was right. Four years later I’m the cliché brokenhearted woman I swore never to become under my carefully constructed façade, which is starting to crack, because he’s back in my life, threatening to break me again.
Jason – I am drowning in happily ever after(s). My best friend and business partner, his brother, even my childhood neighbor, are all either engaged or married, making me the lone single guy in the group. The irony is I used to want that life, even found the woman to share it with. Or thought I did. Nothing could be worse than the one betraying you, except having her come back into your life.
Willfully Malicious Intent is a stand alone book in the Mile High Romance collection. It includes friends with benefits, beneficial friends, strong language, some seriously spicy sexy times and a guaranteed HEA.
Michele writes contemporary romance that is both sweet and steamy. Her goal is to make you fan your face as you wipe a tear from your eye. Several of her books have been named as finalists in the MARA Fiction From the Homeland contest. Her books are part of a series but there are no cliffhangers so each can be read as a standalone. When she isn't reading or writing she enjoys the outdoors, something that pops up in her books from time to time.
ARC provided by Netgalley for an honest review. Willfully Malicious Intent for me was an okay read. It wasn't for me. I found the characters to be annoying. The banter between the two main characters was annoying. I love reading romance books and yes I read erotic novels. These main characters were just extremely immature and way too sex crazed. I'm not saying anything bad about the author or her writing style. This just wasn't for me.
Jason and Harper meet in law school and hook up, but it's work for Jason to keep her. He finds out about her side hustle and feels betrayed and dumps her. Years later they are thrown back together when his friend and her client marry. Misunderstandings are slowly unraveled and true love wins.
This was a really fun and engaging third installment into this series. I really love that Michele Lenard is taking popular tropes and utilizing them throughout each installment in entertaining ways. This story is a friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers and this romance really explores the history of the hero and heroine's relationship while paralleling it with present time. This is a fast paced, sweet and steamy, accessible and well balanced story of two people who learn to fall in and out of love with each other.
This story is about Jason and Harper, they are both lawyers, they are both headstrong, they have a past and they both are ready to move into the future because their friend circle has become much closer in sphere. Jason and Harper met each other in college where they slowly built a friendship that turned into friends with benefits and grew into something much stronger. But a misunderstanding and the lack of trust immediately destroys their fragile relationship. Now that their friends have married they must come to terms with their past and learn to tolerate each other in the future.
I am not normally a fan of a dual told timelines but I think that Michele Lenard balanced it well in this story. Lenard really shows the foundation of a relationship that Jason and Harper were building and that makes the heart break of their breakup that much stronger. Jason and Harper's really love story is back in college where they are both young and insecure and unsure, and I think that is why we spend a lot of time with them in that past. Lenard does parallel moments from the present which project us into the past to give us a better understanding of where each of these people are coming from. Jason in his youth is extremely sweet and patient with Harper and I really loved watching him breakdown Harper's walls, but I has very saddened and disappointed with how he instigated their fall out. I think having their fall out in their past is the only way for it to truly work because we can forgive their ignorances because they are still growing and learning. When we are in present time Jason and Harper are learning to be in each others company again, to listen to each other, and learn to reopen their hearts and acknowledge that the love they were building is still there.
I would definitely recommend this book and this series if you love watching a group of friends find their love story and support each other. These novels are great, fast paced reads that are perfect to cozy up with, especially if you love a sweet and fairly low angst love story.
This is a series of books by Michele Lenard, but they are more companion novels about the same group of friends. I haven't read any books in this series, but I didn't find it hard to understand or confusing. If you had read the previous books you would have seen more of the main characters from the previous books, which you may enjoy as well.
I enjoy reading steamy novels, but this one felt a little immature to me. I think that is mainly because the "steamy" part of their relationship is happening in flashbacks to them in college, when they were more immature.
Michele Lenard did a good job telling a dual time line, giving both Harper and Jason their own unique voices. She was able to show the reasons behind both main characters decisions and growth of who they are. I loved how patient Jason was in the past timeline with Harper as she grew and became a person who could trust and love. I also understood Harper's reason for not having that trust in Jason anymore and her struggle to not become her mother.
The author does a great job of writing the chemistry between Jason and Harper, you can definitely feel the tension and sexual chemistry in both the past and current timelines.
I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, light read with some heavy emotions. I will pick up Michele Lenard's book in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.
This is a book in The Mile High Romance Series and it is Harper and Jason's story and it is definitely a must read. Harper and Jason have history but things didn't work out between them leaving them broken, jaded and betrayed but now four years later and they are back in each other's life. The connection and chemistry between Harper and Jason is still as strong and intense as it used to be but will they ever get a second chance of being together and trust each other again or will they both still keep there distance from each other and miss out on something special between them and have a happy ending only time will tell what the outcome would be for them. The characters and storyline had so much depth to it that it pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout the whole book and I couldn't put it q and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next between them and I can't wait to read more books in this series. Michele Lenard is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed.
The third installment of The Mile High Romance series is a stand-alone story of two headstrong, stubborn lawyers Harper and Jason. The author does a good job at giving both Harper and Jason their voices without overwhelming the reader with keeping pace with the dual timeline writing style. While much of the story features the characters as immature and quite honestly annoying the reader must remember that both characters are young at the start of their drama and are not willing to be the first to concede in their collective heartbreak. Who hasn't been like that with their first love?
Harper and Jason are two headstrong, stubborn lawyers in the third instalment of The Mile High Romance series. The author does an excellent job of giving both Harper and Jason distinct voices while not overwhelming the reader with the dual timeline writing style. While much of the story depicts the characters as immature and, frankly, annoying, the reader must keep in mind that both characters are young at the start of their drama and are unwilling to be the first to admit defeat in their collective heartbreak. Who hasn't felt this way about their first love?
I received a complimentary copy of Willfully Malicious Intent in exchange for an honest review. This is part of a series that can be read as a standalone. This is a second chance romance with flashbacks between the past and present. I'm not sure this couple should have tried for round two, but then there wouldn't have been a novel. It was easy to read, but I'd prefer to have an introduction to the past and continue on with the present.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd book I have read by this author. I loved the first one, but this one for me was just ok. It was a quick read, I am not sure but the main characters seemed annoying-maybe it was all the flashbacks. Not sure. Apparently this one was just not for me. I will still try other books by this author as I truly enjoyed the other book. Just not my thing. 3 stars. I am sure many others will enjoy.
I enjoyed this story and I thought that it had a really good story line.
I thought that the story was romantic and sexy and the characters were great.
The story was told by both characters which it one of my favourite ways that authors use to tell a story and I lived how this one gave you a sense of how they really felt.
Well written and thoroughly enjoyable - it is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended!
First book to be read by the author Michele Lenard. I read this book out of order lol but I am glad I picked it up. Harper and Jason were just so fun and engaging to read.
