Thomas Vale is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors. He’s as humble as they come and adores his family. This Christmas he wants to give his dying grandfather the only thing he’s ever asked Thomas for: for Thomas to fall in love.
Noah Berry has worked for Thomas since before he was a household name. He doesn’t have a close-knit family, but he’s fine with the way things are as long as he has Thomas. After all, Noah has been secretly in love with the man for years.
Thomas gets the crazy idea to bring a fake boyfriend home, but Christmas approaches and nobody is worthy enough to fulfill the task. Noah steps in—if he can’t have Thomas in real life, he can pretend for a little while and make an old man happy.
Davidson King, always had a hope that someday her daydreams would become real-life stories. As a child, you would often find her in her own world, thinking up the most insane situations. It may have taken her awhile, but she made her dream come true with her first published work, Snow Falling.
She managed to wrangle herself a husband who matched her crazy and they hatched three wonderful children.
If you were to ask her what gave her the courage to finally publish, she’d tell you it was her amazing family and friends. Support is vital in all things and when you’re afraid of your dreams, it will be your cheering section that will lift you up.
If a bit rushed. I know it's a novella and pacing is tricky, but the shift from Best Friends/employer to lovers was very abrupt with no real transition.
Also.... where is the steam 🥲🥲 I mean.... one of them has been in love for years. Shouldn't they be f@cking like rabbits?
It does say that the author will continue their story in her author group. So that's something at least.
A short Christmas tale to make you smile and sigh... Thomas is planning to go to his family holiday celebrations, but wants to have a boyfriend to show his ill grandfather that he has someone to love him. Thomas is an actor/celebrity, on the cover, and his long time Personal Assistant, PA, is sweet, blonde Noah, who is indispensable. Why hadn't he ever seen Noah as the perfect one for him?
Thomas and Noah are close, and Noah has loved him for awhile now. The trip is wonderful, and Noah already knows a lot about Thomas' big, loving family. Noah's family is the opposite.
We see the interactions, talks, and fun with everyone there. While Thomas and Noah share a room, they get closer and finally tell each other how they feel.
I loved the cute story, the dynamic characters, and the sexy times. It's a feel good Christmas romance! ENJOY !
Ok, this sweet as can be. Up until now, all of Davidson King's books have had a gritty element to them, so having a sweet fluffy romance is a change of pace, but I think she nailed it! Thomas is a sweetheart, and Noah is such a fun character. And the fake boyfriend trope is one of my favorites for holiday romance books. I really liked it!
Thomas and Noah (and Thomas’s family) are one big, smiley, squishy hug of love and holiday cheer. I adore them, especially the way Noah and Thomas found love. “I knew that no matter what the rest of this Christmas brought, right here on the top of the Ferris wheel with Thomas was the most perfect gift ever.” They make my heart happy and my smile, which started from the beginning, just kept growing and growing all the way through the end. Sweet as a candy cane with a dash of cinnamon spice, you want to read this wonderful novella. Oh and make sure you have a cozy blanket and a mug of hot chocolate nearby.
Such a sweet short story! 😍 The typical Christmas romance aided by the best friends to lovers, famous guy/ personal assistant and fake boyfriend tropes. Since it was a short story it's kinda understandable that things seemed a bit rushed at times, still, it was so sweet! Very Hallmark christmas movie meets book author. Perfect family winter cabin, perfect huge loving supporting family, adorable grandparents, lots of decorations, lots of gifts, lots of fun and love to spread around. Even the sexy scene was well done, not too slutty or chatty, just perfect for them. If you guys want to read something quick and cute with all the romantic christmassy fluff, this is your chance.
You're the One ticks all my holiday romance boxes. Thomas and Noah's Christmas journey may not have the mystery, violence, and action that Davidson King often brings to the page but that doesn't make it any less brilliant. Personally, I think those missing elements speak volumes to the incredible talent the author has for storytelling.
Knowing King's penchant for giving her couples a HEA, I think we can all guess where the men's journey ends up but the road they travel getting there is so much fun, so full of holiday spirit, so many edge of your seat smiles that I won't spoil it for anyone. Just know that you won't be bored, you won't be Bah Humbugging, you'll be Santa HO! HO! HO-ing! many hours after the final page.
If you're a fan of Hallmark Christmassy romances, not only will you love You're the One but you'll be blown away because IMO, King's holiday fare is 200% better. Some may call it "holiday schmaltz" but I call it "holiday heart". Davidson King may regret having written such a holiday gem because I am already highly anticipating next year's holiday story.
Looking for a sweet Christmas treat? You're the One by Davidson King fits the bill. Thomas is a popular actor who is breaking into the big time. Noah is his personal assistant. Thomas owes his success to Noah. Noah has kept his schedule, managed his publicity, and been his sounding board. Noah knows everything, everything, about Thomas. Thomas knows very little about Noah, only that he cannot imagine life without him. The problem is Noah is, and has been, in love with Thomas for years. When Thomas needs a fiancée to take home for Christmas for his dying grandfather, there is only one person who really knows Thomas and can be trusted not to sell the story to the tabloids.
I enjoyed the characters of Noah and Thomas. They were authentic. I could easily see Noah in the same social situation with my own large family. The side characters, especially Thomas's family, were fun and well written. A wise person once said, "Marry your best friend." This holiday gem gives the reader that gift.
I received a copy of You're the One by Davidson King in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sweet Christmasy read. I enjoy reading about best friends discovering that their feelings are more. Throw in a employee/employer relationship and a sick family member and you have a Hallmark movie style book. Noah was a great guy. I'm glad he was such a relatable character. He was pretty laid back for an agent, but he was also a smart one. He didn't let others try to talk down to him. Thomas was a sweet guy. I don't think I've read a more likeable actor character. He didn't let his job be his only character trait. All in all, watching these two come together while on a Christmas vacation was nice.
4.5 stars. A great start as Thomas comes up with a plan to fall in love to grant his grandpa's dying wish. A personal assistant to a fake fiencee all in the days job descriptions for Noah..yah not really when he quits almost daily.lol Thomas maybe a famous movie star but he was tottally clueless about romance. This is a gorgeous short story featuring snowmen, hot chocolate and mistletoe and more. HEA, dual Pov's, unrequited love for a Christmas novella.
Noah is silently in love with his freind Thomas, Thomas was a leading actor who'd friended Noah early in career.
Thomas and Noah are just so wonderful. Yes, Noah secretly loves Thomas and yes, Thomas is oblivious to that until his eyes are opened at the annual family Christmas get together. What starts out as a fake relationship soon becomes real and it happens with minimal angst and a loving and teasing family with an array of Christmas traditions. A very quick, easy and enjoyable read that’s as fulfilling as hot chocolate and Christmas cookies!
You’re the One is a cute holiday romance starring Thomas and Noah who pose as fake boyfriends at the Christmas gathering of Thomas’ family. Thomas is a well-liked movie star. He and Noah have been best friends for years, ever since Noah began working as his PA. Noah likes that he knows the quirky, quieter side of Thomas that others don’t see. In fact, he’s secretly in love with Thomas.
Sadly, Thomas’ grandfather is terminally ill with little time left and it’s his dying wish to see Thomas fall in love. Because he wants to please his grandfather but doesn’t have a significant other, Thomas concocts the idea to take a fake boyfriend along to the celebration. After being unable to find anyone suitable, Noah volunteers to play the part, and they up the ante to fiancé, not just boyfriend. The problem is, Noah’s heart may break while pretending to be something he so dearly wants to be real.
We all know how this trope plays out. There’s nothing groundbreaking here, but it’s sweet to watch Thomas realize Noah means the world to him. The close-knit extended family is warm and inviting, and it’s a safe environment for Thomas to explore his true feelings. It all starts with a classic mistletoe moment and ends with grandfather getting his wish.

A friends-to-lovers MM holiday novella. Noah has been in love with Thomas for a while now. But he feels he is just Thomas’s personal assistant/friend, and will never be more. When Thomas enlists Noah’s help to find a fake lover to take home for Christmas, no one ends up passing the bill. Deciding on a whim that the only person Noah can trust to handle this situation - is himself - he offers himself up on a silver platter. There’s a little bit of hesitancy, but then Thomas graciously accepts.
Noah acts his part well, but for him it’s not really acting. He’s scared of getting hurt when he knows his feelings are real, and Thomas - the true actor - would never act or feel this way toward Noah any other time. But sure enough, with enough concentration on the matter, Thomas slowly realizes that everything he’s ever wanted is right in front of him. So, Thomas tries to show Noah that none of this is a job, and he’s going to fall for his best friend.
Noah is Thomas's P.A. and they also just happen to be best friends. When Thomas has an inspired idea to play pretend boyfriends for Christmas Noah reluctantly agrees. He's secretly been in love with Thomas for years and fears the truth coming out and ruining their friendship. As they spend time with Thomas's family it becomes apparent just how much poor Noah needs a family. It's also painfully obvious just how much they care about each other but they're both blatantly oblivious until they're hit over the head with the obvious truth; they're obviously in love with each other. I loved the snarky banter between Noah and Thomas and the chemistry between them was perfectly sweet. Their steady plodding towards romance and each other was so sweet and the romantic scene in the Ferris Wheel was absolutely beautiful.
Thoroughly enjoyed You're the One and highly recommend it. It was filled with lots of yummy tropes - boss/employee, home for the holidays, fake relationships and Hollywood A-lister. Thomas is a Hollywood actor who is heading to be with his family for the holidays. It's likely to be his grandpa's last one so he wants to do something to make him happy - fall in love and find his forever person. Thomas doesn't have someone in his life so he's gonna have to fake it. Up steps his assistant Noah. Oh I loved Noah. He's snarky and adorable. Even more so cos he's been secretly in love with his boss for years. Seeing Thomas open his eyes and realise what or who is right under his nose and perfect for him was fun to watch. And Noah finally gets his man aww! Shout out to Thomas's family - great supporting cast.
Davidson King does not disappoint with this Holiday tale. Thomas and Noah’s story is incredibly sweet, and as always, well written. It’s a short story, but Davidson King is able to create a very vivid world where you get to know Noah, Thomas, and Thomas’s family very well. And Thomas’s family rocks! Noah has been a loyal and faithful employee of Thomas for years, so who better to pretend to be Thomas’s boyfriend for Thomas’s family Christmas? Noah doesn’t trust anyone to be up to the job, and Thomas trusts Noah more than anyone. So Noah’s off to meet in person the people he’s come to know through Thomas, and Noah finds that not only is he in love with Thomas, he’s in love with Thomas’s family too. Will they keep him? I highly recommend you find out!
A warm and light-hearted Christmas romp by the stellar Ms. Davidson-King, You’re the One is guaranteed to meet every holiday romance requirement.
You're the One is the 2021 stand-alone Christmas novella by Davidson King. It is a MM Romance.
When Hollywood's famous Thomas Vale needs a fake fiancé for Christmas, who is better than his best friend and personal assistant Noah Berry who has worked for him since before he was famous.
This novella is charming. Although without the external chaos normally present in Ms. Davidson-King's novels, the lovely narrative and low-angst is refreshing and the perfect note for a Christmas novella. I wish there had been more time for the ending of the story, although the additional bonus scene was a perfect epilogue.
If you like Christmas stories, this story is for you. You will not be disappointed
I've rated this book 4.55/5.00.
I received an ARC of this work and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
A quick and easy Christmas novella. I thought Thomas and Noah were super cute and sweet, and I adored Thomas’s family. They were so accepting, and Noah just fit in immediately! I did, however, feel that the change from best friends-to-fake boyfriends-to more was a bit rushed. Or maybe it wasn’t the fact that Thomas realised and acted on his feelings quickly, but that we didn’t get enough confirmation of their new relationship status at the end. Even if we didn’t get an epilogue, I was holding out for a bit more conversation between them. Despite that, their story makes for a nice read if you want a little Christmas cheer.
This book, while short, is such a sweet story of finding love that has been under your nose for years. The way the author makes you feel like your cheering for your best friends to take the next step is wonderfully done. I felt like Noah was such a great guy that is very organized about everything. Thomas is also a great guy that never has to worry over details because his BFF, Noah, is his PA. The joy you read about with Thomas's family at Christmas makes you want to join them. I truly enjoyed this book and wish the after story wasn't on FB because I do not deal with it.
Loved this story. These two have been together for a long time as friends. Thomas is an actor and Noah is his PA. They been working side by side as Thomas was coming up. Noah has already fallen for Thomas but he keeps it under wraps because he doesn't want to loose Thomas. Well Thomas grandfather is dying and he just wants to see Thomas happy. So Thomas decides to make his grandpa last days on earth happy by finding a someone to take to Christmas at the family cabin. So he did but not realizing that the person he takes to family is the person he falls for.
This is a quick read and a sweet friends to lovers holiday story. Thomas is a big movie star and Noah is his PA. Noah has been secretly in love with Thomas for a long time but is sure he’ll always have to settle for being the best friend. When it becomes necessary to do a fake boyfriend thing Noah is sure he’s going to end up with a broken heart. Can Christmas work its magic?
The story is sweet. The boss/employee dynamic which can sometimes come off icky doesn’t play in here at all as Noah is definitely his own man. Thomas’ family is wonderful and the whole setting is like a Hallmark Christmas movie. It’s a great read for the holiday season.
This is a sweet Christmas novella from an amazing author!! Thomas is a famous Hollywood actor and Noah has been with him as his PA since before he got his big break. Noah has had a crush on Thomas for as long as they’ve been working together but he feels that Thomas does not reciprocate his feelings. Noah hatches with a plan that he is Thomas’s fake fiancé because he knows him the best and there is no chance of Thomas catching feelings for him, or so he thinks to trick Thomas’s dying grandpa. What could go wrong when Noah loves Thomas but Thomas doesn’t have feelings for Noah aside from friendship?
It is impossible to not fall in love with Thomas and Noah. These two simply put complete each other. While Noah has always known his feelings for Thomas, Thomas has been clueless as to how he really feels about Noah. When a family holiday vacation gives Thomas the chance to see Noah in a different light he soon realizes how deep his feelings go. You're the One is a lovely holiday romance full of family, fun, hot chocolate and so much more, this book is the perfect afternoon read under the Christmas tree!
3.5 stars. A very cute holiday romance. I loved the family vibe and it brought back memories of losing my grandfather right before Christmas years ago. I would have liked to hear more about Noah's family issues though and the ending was very abrupt. Apparently there will be an epilogue for members of the author's Facebook group, but since I don't have a Facebook account on principle, I won't get to read it. More authors have the tendency to only cater to their readers through Facebook lately and I think it's a shame.
This book is absolutely all the best parts of a classic Hallmark Christmas movie, but without the cheese factor. Thomas and Noah are so completely perfect as best friends/actor-personal assistant that discover that, maybe, they actually mean more to each other. Thomas's crazy and eclectic family bring humor and heartwarming moments and help the two men see what's been in front of them all the time. Reading this during the holiday season was the perfect escape and I think it will become a favorite reread.
A sweet Christmas novella featuring Thomas, who is an actor and Noah, who has been his PA for years. As the holidays were approaching, Thomas told Noah that his grandfather was sick and this would be his last Christmas. As his grandfather wanted Thomas to find love, Noah suggested that they would fake fiancés. What follows is a great holiday season with Thomas’s family. I loved it and cannot wait to read more.
This story was so cute. I’m not a huge fan of Christmas but this story made me want to be a part of the family. They were ever loving and cute, yet the siblings still fight like normal. Very fun Sunday afternoon read filled with Christmas magic!
Back when I’m extended family had Christmas my grandfather would read a Night Before Christmas, so this screen made me tear up slightly.
*Reader Note: I received a free copy of this book directly from the author and this is my honest review.
A beautiful Christmas romance between two people who have been friends for years. Noah has worked for and been in love with Thomas for years. Best friends and not wanting to lose that, he has suffered in silence. But this Christmas in order to fulfill a wish, a pretend relationship ensues. But is it really? Snowmen, cookies, and mistletoe make magic happen. Christmas is in the air when these two realize true love was with them all along.
I've said multiple times i'm not the most Christmas stories lover on the planet , BUT when one of my favourite authors throws a Holiday kinda book at me i say " well, this might be the deal breaker for me". And i was right !! Thomas and Noah are so sweet and lovely that i actually enjoyed reading the book. Noah secretly in love with Thomas... Thank God Thomas opened his eyes in time LOL . I absolutely loved them both !!! Don't miss the chance to read this beautiful Christmas story.
This was a really quick, sweet, best friends to lovers/work romance with forced close proximity, no angst and low steam but really great chemistry. What starts as a fake relationship, end in fireworks. All the characters were fantastic. I absolutely loved it. My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end and I wish the public scene mentioned at the end was included in the book and not just mentioned as a later newsletter giveaway.
You're the One is a sweet, friends to lovers, fake relationship, romantic Christmas book. Noah is secretly in love with Thomas, and he is his assistant. Thomas needs someone to pretend he's in love with to appease his dying grandfather. Thomas is bisexual and doesn't realize how deep his feeling Noah until he starts spending time with him. The book is a slow-burn, funny, feel-good book, and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
