Orchard Hill #2

Two Nights to Forever

Rate this book
Time doesn’t heal all wounds, but love just might…

Eve Klein almost has it all: a thriving career, great friends, and adoptive parents who’ve supported her in everything—including her quest to find her birth mother. She’s hired a private investigator, and while she waits for the last piece of her history to make her whole, she focuses on the most exciting deal of her career—a controlling share in Keller and Sons, a luxury watchmaker.

To most people Keller watches are status symbols, but to Saul Keller they’re handcuffs. He thought his brother had everything under control, until a distress call from an employee forced him to leave Wall Street and move home to Orchard Hill, Missouri. A year on, he’s shifted from trying to save the family business to selling it—and finally setting himself free.

Eve is Saul’s most exciting—and alluring—professional adversary, and he’s exactly the type of high-flyer she’s sworn to stop falling for. But when she needs his help to prepare for a Passover seder with her birth mother, the lines between business and pleasure become perpetually blurred.

This is a lovely contemporary romance with two Jewish MCs.

This is another cozy romance by an author whose books I generally enjoy and this one was very soothing for me to read in rough times.

This is contemporary romance with two Jewish MCs who are not very strict in practicing their religion but still observe the Jewish holidays and traditions in one form or another.

Eve is someone who longs to belong and to be loved (carrying the trauma of being given up for adoption at birth); Saul is struggling to find his place in the family business, feeling left out/unwanted. I loved seeing both MCs finding their footing, discovering who they are and what they want in life.

The focus in the story was very much on the internal struggle of fitting in, of being confident in your choices and I found it all very relatable. Both Eve and Saul were successful in their profession, had great loving families but still a sense of lack and loss and something missing.

There was strong chemistry between them right from the start but their professional relationship and current life goals made it nearly impossible to be together. The romance was passionate and tender with underlying strong friendship, understanding, admiration for the achievements of the other.

The story came off as a bit heteronormative and traditional with a focus on family. I wished we saw Eve's adoptive parents on page, not only hearing her praise for them. Focusing only on her relationship seeing her birth mother and her new family felt odd to me.

It's a happy making story, low conflict, offering an overly optimistic world view but I didn't mind it. I was happy with the accents in the business aspect - support of local community, women-led business, ethical business practices.

CW: adoption, difficult relationship with birth mother, bullying in school (in the past)

Saul and Eve's story was full of chemistry and growth. I liked the family issues they were dealing with and the way the author navigated these issues. Instead of being overly dramatic and heartbreaking, the problems were realistic and showed how our anxiety about something can often be worse than the thing itself. I enjoy Crowley's writing style and have really enjoyed this whole series.

I received this arc of Two Nights to Forever from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is Rebecca Crowley’s second book in her Orchard Hill series. I read both books but it isn’t necessary to do so to follow the story. Book 2 is about Saul Keller, the youngest of the watchmaking Keller family. He returned temporarily to his hometown of Orchard Hill after being away for years. His father had died leaving the company to be run by the eldest son, Noam. It was apparent that the family company desperately needed him. Saul is very successful on Wall Street and only returned home when he got a call from the accountant about the troubles the old and prestigious company was facing. Saul’s brother Noam is the CEO and it is evident he doesn’t have a head for business. He is more a people person.

Saul has reached out to financial companies to help salvage his company. He interviews a few managers and agrees to work with Eve for a month to make sure she won’t fire the employees and make too many changes. Then he will sign the agreement for her to buy a share in Keller. Eve is very savvy and immediately realizes Noam being CEO is a big problem and one Saul has said is non-negotiable to fire. Both Eve and Saul have put their personal lives on hold for their jobs. Each one is attracted to the other however. As the two work together daily they become comfortable with each other and share some of their person information. The two get close and there’s definitely some chemistry. However both know he plans to leave once the trial month is up.

There is also a side plot about Eve searching for her birth mother. She hired a private investigator who had located the woman since she started at Keller. It is apparent that although she’s has a wonderful life with her adoptive parents, she has felt she was lacking and unlovable since her birth mom gave her up. So Eve meets her birth mom and learns about her life and worries about growing the new relationship.

Both Eve and Saul are Jewish and it becomes apparent that Eve’s adoptive parents followed the rituals less seriously than her birth mom’s family. The author explains a lot about the traditions surrounding the Passover Seders and a Shabbat dinner. Eve is invited to join her birth mom and be introduced to her family at a Seder. She is very nervous because she doesn’t want to look like she wasn’t raised following all the religious rules. She and Saul spend time together so she can get help on the proper steps for the dinner. At her invitation, he accompanies her to the dinner and also meets her new family.

There is a lot of angst in the book about what will happen between Eve and Saul; whether the relationship will flourish with Eve’s birth mom and what will be decided about the Keller and Sons Watch company management and Noam and Saul. I like the book a lot. I enjoyed reading about the Jewish religion information shared by the author. I gave it 5 stars and highly recommend it.

Orchard Hill book number two, Two Nights to Forever by Rebecca Crowley is just as good as the first one. Eve Klein seems to have it all but yet there is something she feels is missing. Her work is great which is a big part of the plot especially in the romance area. However, even with great friends and family she wishes to know her birth mother. This is understandable.

Saul Keller knows his family and he too thought his life was just how it should be until that dreaded phone call. Back to Orchard Hill, Missouri, where the series takes place to try to do damage control for the family business, Keller and Sons Watchmaker Company. This is where he meets Eve. These two are not really enemies but I guess some would consider them to be.

This is a story of family, accepting the cards life deals you and making the most of it. It is also a story of love as Eve and Saul work through the business aspects of the story. I especially like the part of their heritage observing the Jewish holidays and traditions.

Not an extreme dramatic story just enough to keep it interesting. It is a fun easy to follow book with two extremely likable characters. The kind of read that brings a smile to your face while reinforcing the belief in people.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Passover prep is exhausting. Cleaning, cooking, finally fishing the potato chip wrappers out of the backseat of the car. All these tasks pile up on my to do list and some days, the only thing pulling me through is the knowledge that I can finally rest on seder night and enjoy a beautiful holiday. It’s a labor of love, but this year I’d like to make a suggestion for anyone looking to unwind at the end of the day: get yourself some Passover romance.

Two Nights To Forever by Rebecca Crowley is a book that does the unthinkable. It makes an investment banker likable. Eve Klein is not your typical buy and burn banker. She has chosen to move back to her hometown in Orchard Hill and work for a female dominated firm rather than signing up for a fast track career at a NY company. Like many of her finance counterparts, Eve loves the thrill of a tough bargain, of sealing an acquisition, and working a board room. What sets her apart are her methods of operation once the contract is signed. Rather than selling off assets and cannibalizing the companies they purchase, Eve’s firm specializes in rehabilitating acquisitions. They attempt to retain the character of the business while helping it find a way back to profitability.

That is why she’s so excited about buying out Keller and Sons, a local family run business that manufactures luxury watches. Eve has always admired their craftsmanship, but she never though this company, that has been passed down from father to son for several generations, would be on the market for a private equity buy out. She’s sure her approach to keeping companies largely intact will mean she is the selected buyer. The only obstacle in her path is Saul Keller.

Saul chose to leave the family business and enter the world finance because he wanted more freedom. When his brother runs the company into the ground, Saul is forced to return and mitigate the damage. He doesn’t want the company employees to lose their jobs or for the legacy built by his Holocaust survivor grandfather to be sold off for spare parts. Eve and her offer represent an alternative to those disasters, but there’s one catch – Saul would have to accept the removal of his brother as CEO, a move which could tear the family apart. For Evie this non negotiable. Even Saul acknowledges that the only way to save the business is to have someone making intelligent decisions at the helm. That doesn’t make it any less of a stalemate.

As negotiations proceed, Eve and Saul find themselves spending more and more time together and the mutual attraction is hard to deny. But Eve’s got a lot on her plate. She is adopted and recently met up with her birth mother who has invited her over for the Seder. She happily agreed at the time, but panic settles in as she worries she won’t be what her birth mother expects. Her family has raised her Jewish, but their practice is vastly different than those of her birth mother. When Saul finds out, he offers to run through a mock Seder with Eve and attend the Seder with her. Plus her invites her to attend a Seder at his friends house.

Now for those who don’t know – there’s a fair bit of wine consumed at the Seder. Spending that much time together has loosened the inhibitions of this pair. Toss in Saul’s friends teasing, and the rest is practically a foregone conclusion. Eve and Saul finally give in and explore the romance angle of their relationship, promising to keep the business aspects separate.

Obviously that’s impossible. And the conflict that arises because of this arrangement is compulsively readable because the seeds for it were planted right on the very first page. Eve and Saul have to sort out not only their feelings for each but also their complicated family dynamics – Eve’s adoption and Saul’s responsibilities towards his brother and the business that has always felt like a snare holding him back.

No matter what type of Seder your family participates in, or if you don’t formally celebrate at all, this is a great book to help get you in the mindset of Passover. For those who prefer to know their romance steam levels before committing – there is sex on the page, but it isn’t the focus of the book. This is a book about family and finding ones place in it. A perfect match for Passover.

This is the second book in this series and once again it centres around two main character's that are Jewish and the holidays of that religion

This time we have Eve Klein a successful woman who struggles with a feeling of abandonment after being given up for adoption and Saul Keller a man who had successfully pulled away from the family business and established himself only to be dragged back into all the family drama about the business. These two feel an instant attraction but can they have a future You will have to read to see

Two Nights to Forever has been both an entertaining read and a great introduction to Jewish Passover customs. I had no idea there were so many ceremonial traditions and as really enjoyed learning about them. I liked and respected Eve and Saul, both decent, hard-working people wanting to do the right thing in an acquisition transaction for Saul’s family company. I really loved that Saul stood up for his brother the way he did. This book is my first Rebecca Crowley read and I’m looking forward to the next one.

short and sweet romance featuring two Jewish MC’s + two VERY different Passover seders as part of the plot. I really enjoyed this!

I think if it had been a bit longer there could have been some further exploration of certain plot points briefly touched on throughout. One thing I would’ve loved to see was on the page interactions between Eve and her adoptive parents, as we only got to see her biological mother, who wasn’t exactly warm or kind to her. So I think including her adoptive parents would’ve provided an interesting contrast that could’ve added another layer to the story.

Interest flares to life for Saul and Eve but their work relationship puts a hold on it. She is working for the company buying half of Saul’s family’s company stock. Their relationship could alter all of the work they both have done. The sizzling attraction under their friendship is off the charts as they help each other work through personal struggles and keep their hands off each other.

It was ok, but felt like too much Judaism had to be explained. So, I felt like I was in a Sunday School class for little kids sometimes.

Two Nights to Forever is a contemporary romance/Passover romance with Jewish rep. It is the second book in the Orchard Hill series. This book can be read as a standalone. The couple from the first book are only briefly in this book.

This book made me so happy. I love books with Jewish rep. And I am obsessed with books that take place over Passover. This book hooked me right from the start.

Orchard Hill is a suburb of St. Louis. Thirty year old Eve Klein works for a women-owned ethics-led private equity firm. She is a smart and savvy businesswoman. And I adored that she was so amazing at her job.

Saul Keller came home a year ago to help his family's struggling business. I adored Saul. And I really liked seeing his relationship with his brother. And Eve and Saul working together was so great.

There are two main storylines. The first has to do with saving Saul's family business. The second is Eve trying to find and connect with her birth mother.

Overall I really loved this book. It was a quick fun read. I loved seeing a contemporary romance featuring Passover Seders. And I really enjoyed the romance between Eve and Saul.
