It can be read as a standalone or as part of the multi-author Broad Street Boarding House series.
I enjoyed this interesting clean historical fiction. Starla travels to Denver, seeking to find her brother Zachary because he wrote her a letter requesting help in a theft in which he is wrongly accused. After she arrives in Denver and settles into a boarding house for women, Wyatt Dawson befriends Starla in order find her brother and turn him over to his boss. However, somewhere in their search, Wyatt begins to believe Starla's insistence that Zachary is innocent. But he has a decision to make--whether or not to quit his job and help Starla. If he doesn't bring Zachary in by Christmas Day, Starla will be in danger of being harmed. And what about Wyatt's developing romantic feelings towards Starla? What will he do? I loved Ms. Cahill's descriptions of the characters, their thoughts and feelings, and the several twists and turns in this quick read and recommend this entertaining book. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have freely given my honest opinion in this review.
Cat Cahill has written another story that is sweet and heartwarming yet one filled with human frailties and includes drama, secrets, mystery, danger, suspense and romance. This is Starla Logan, who is searching for her brother Zachary who is in trouble, and Wyatt Dawson story. Wyatt is also searching for Zachary for a crime he supposedly committed. The sweet ladies of the Broad Street Boarding House from earlier stories in this series also try to help. As Wyatt helps Starla search for her brother, will his secret destroy the relationship he has built with her and will they ever have their HEA? Will they find Zachary? Be sure and read this outstanding story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This may not be a very long book, but it is very good and I totally enjoyed it! I have fallen behind on reading all of Ms. Cahill's new books and after reading this one it has made me want to read the books I have missed. I started reading this authors books when she was writing about the Gilbert girls. I had just read an article about them in real life and I was totally interested in finding out more about them. After reading this series, I was a full fan of Ms. Cahill. She does write historical romance books but a lot of them also have the main characters in some sort of situation that adds suspense to her books and I have enjoyed everything I have read. I received a free download of this book from the publisher, my review is my own honest opinion of a book I thoroughly enjoyed.
Is Starla missing brother a thief on the run or set up for a crime he didn't commit? Socialite Starla was brave and maybe a little foolhardy to try to respond to Zachary's letter in person and search for him. Wyatt sees her arrival as an opportunity to enable him to finish the job he was hired for, but he didn't factor in falling in love. There was plenty of suspense as they have more than just the bad guys to worry about. The romance between Starla and Wyatt develops quickly, but his secrets may drive them apart.
• This was a clean read and I appreciated that the author presented a great story without swearing and sex.
I was given an advance copy of this book by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Cat Cahill.
As soon as Starla learned that her brother Zachary was still alive and in need of help, she packs and travels to Denver to look for him. There, she met Wyatt, who wanted to help her look for Zachary. However, he did not tell her the whole truth, the actual reason why he is in Denver… This was a beautiful story, showing what love is willing to do, be it for siblings, friends, or in a romantic relationship.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Starla's brother is in trouble and she will do whatever is necessary to help him out including travelling to Denver and enlisting the help of a handsome young man staying in the boarding house next door.
