No one is guaranteed tomorrow.

Grant Carter knows that fact intimately. The shrapnel sitting on his spine from an IED is a daily reminder.

But the constant pain won’t stop him from working at the Resting Warrior Ranch, training service and emotional support animals to help people with PTSD—something else he’s intimately familiar with.

He’ll fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.

When his neighbor, shy veterinarian Cori Jackson, is humiliated by her ex-boyfriend for things she’d like to experiment with in bed, Grant is more than happy to show her real men aren’t threatened by an adventurous spirit.

The more time he spends with her, the more he realizes the literal girl-next-door is the one for him. And when Cori finds herself in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy surrounding the animals she treats, Grant will make sure she makes it out alive.

He's a fighter. Was one in the Navy SEALs and still is one today. And he’ll fight for Cori.

Even if it costs him everything.

I did not like this book. There are so many high ratings for it that I do not understand. This author just does not work for me. She doesn’t seem to research her books and sets up stupid premises that are easily blown apart by logic. I’m going to list some of the most frustrating plot holes I struggled with while rage reading this one.
1. Cori is poor and needs her trust fund for her vet clinic because vets don’t make much money: A simple google search told me that large animal vets in the USA make an average salary of $160k/year.
2. She frequently told her clients to bring their cows and horses into her clinic for examination: Large farm animals are almost always treated on farm with mobile equipment, this includes X-ray, ultrasound even castration. So bringing a horse in for a blood test would be ridiculous.
3. So a veterinarian can’t afford a house but former navy seals (they make around 60k) can afford a huge ranch that they seem to train service animals on, which I doubt is lucrative.
4. We have yet to ever have any part of any of these stories take place on the resting warriors ranch and have very little info on what they actually do on said ranch and how they earn money at this.
5. The bad guys tell the heroine that they have her man’s doctor in their pockets and if she doesn’t go along with their plan they will tell the doctor to kill him on the surgical table. As the surgery isn’t even scheduled yet she could easily tell him to find another surgeon thus avoiding the whole threat.

Other glaring issues:
we learn so much about the heroine in this book but we never learn anything about the hero. Does he have family? What motivates him in his work? What exactly is his role at the RWR? Where is he from? How old is he? What colour are his eyes? Like really this dude is an enigma wrapped in a question mark. He’s just a generic former navy seal badass. We are told multiple times how badass he and all his buddies are but that is it. There is no difference between him and the other RWR guys, they are interchangeable and I honestly don’t even know how many there are of them.

Furthermore the bdsm in this book is so boring and lame I think I’d have been happier if it was left out entirely. Don’t add kink in a book if you are just going to spout stuff you read about it off Wikipedia. It was very unnatural. If you want a book to include kink it needs to be hot, sexy and edgy. This was tame and read like a sex manual. Honestly I rolled my eyes through the single kink scene that was included in this book.
And lastly the ‘not like other guys’ energy during the first part of their relationship exhausted me. Every thing that the hero does (I already forgot his name) was directly compared to her ex boyfriend. He makes her dinner and she is shocked that he’d do it for her because dudes don’t do that in her experience. He goes down on her and likes it, well that’s so odd because her ex would never do anything but a cursory lick down in bushtown. He holds doors open, why how shocking?! Do men really do this? Like girl, this is the bare minimum you should expect from your man. Let’s not give this guy a parade because he is sorta nice. I rolled my eyes so hard during this book I think I sprained my ocular muscles.
So here is the first one star review this book gets. Hopefully someone will read this and be warned off this sad mess.

Favorite so far.

Just the right amount of suspense. Beautiful neighbors to lovers with a smidge of bondage. Haha!

And a wounded hero who finds his soul mate. *swoon*

Grant and Cori were perfection!

This one was good in many ways. I liked that Cori took her relationship by the horns and tried to make it better, was glad when she was shown just what a POS her ex was and also glad that she didn't let that stop her from starting something with Grant. These two were cute together. Quickly Grant showed her how a real man treats a woman, not waiting for that woman to wait on them hand and foot.

I hated the trouble that found Cori, liked that Grant tried to back her up, but things spun out of control quickly. Cori had to do what she could to protect people, including herself, yet still reached out for help. It was a good thing because she was over her head and needed that help.

I loved how this one ended, great news for Grant which paved the way for Grant and Cori to start their life out on the right foot.

Grant Carter : EX Seal, soft spoken, gentlemen, PTSD as well as physical trauma who enjoys more than vanilla in the bedroom. Grant has always been intrigued with Cori from afar, after all , she has a boyfriend, and he doesn't poach, no how, no way. Cori Jackson : Veterinarian, quiet full of sunshine, has a boyfriend - had, because she wanted more than vanilla and so much more. Resting Warrior Ranch : for people all walks, training support animals, dogs, horses, alpca, they are open to assist one an all, run by former Seal Team all with their own version of PTSD. The premise is heart moving and there should be a Resting Warrior Ranch or a Hathaway House (not this series) in each and every state and would be if I could wave a magic wand. Cori has been feeling disgruntled lately with how things are going with her boyfriend, not just in their sex life but in all walks and when she brings up different scenarios he goes wacko, yes wacko. She comes from a wealthy family (as does he) who keeps changing the terms of her inheritance based on what they want. I tell you family can be a real pain. He starts screaming and yelling, being neighbors Grant hears and when things start going from bad to worse he steps out. Welcome to Montana Desire. There is suspense, and danger, there is happiness and sorrow. There is also a scene towards the end where Cori is crying and I am snot crying, ugh, so unsightly. This book is also steamy, erotic, several chapters which is not my preference, but in reality each scene shows the level of trust, of learning, sharing. I laughed out loud during the epilogue and that's always a win. Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

This is the third book in the Resting Warrior Ranch series, and like the others, I could not put it down once I started reading. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the experience is richer if you read them in order. This is the story of Grant Carter, one of the former SEALs who own and run the ranch, and Cori Jackson, the local veterinarian. Grant has taken a fair amount of teasing from his friends because of his interest in Cori, but he sticks to friendship because she has a boyfriend. That all changes when he witnesses the end of their relationship and steps up to protect her from Joel's threats.

Cori loves her work as a vet, partly because animals are so much easier to deal with than people. She's not getting rich off her work, but she's doing okay. Once she gets access to her trust fund on her birthday, it will get easier. Then she gets a disturbing and infuriating email from her parents. They have never approved of her vocation. Jacksons - ALL of them - are surgeons, and they will do anything to bring her back into the fold. This includes blackmail - changing the rules of the trust so that she gets nothing until she completes medical school. Cori has a lot to think about and receives no support from Joel, who agrees with her parents. The icing on the cake is when he balks at some suggestions she makes, accusing her of terrible things. While Cori is thankful that Grant's presence prevented violence, she's also embarrassed.

I loved watching the relationship develop between Cori and Grant. He is such a gentleman and has a huge protective streak. He's ready to pursue Cori, but he is also sensitive to what she has been through with Joel. He made a terrific start that first night with his offer to watch over her. He plans to take things slowly, but Cori has other ideas. She quickly realizes that what she had with Joel doesn't come close to the way Grant makes her feel. I loved seeing the care and respect that Grant shows Cori and its effect on her. The attraction between them is explosive and brings them even closer together.

Both Cori and Grant have obstacles to the future they long to have with each other. Not only does Grant have PTSD, but he also has serious physical issues that hold him back. A piece of shrapnel from an IED is lodged near his spine, frequently causing excruciating pain. There's no guarantee that it won't drastically change his life but being with her also motivates him to look at options. Being with Grant gives Cori the courage to stick up for what she wants until a horrifying discovery forces a heartbreaking choice and puts her in life-threatening danger.

The suspense of the story kept me as enthralled as the romance did. Cori stumbles on a mysterious illness affecting some of the horses belonging to a client. Her suspicions are aroused when the owner shows no concern. Cori's investigation uncovers a dangerous conspiracy, and an unexpected betrayal puts her at the mercy of desperate men. I was glued to the pages as I watched Cori fight for her life and Grant and the rest of the RWR race to save her. There were unexpected consequences to the rescue, and I held my breath with the others as I waited to see the outcome.

I loved the ending, from Cori's conversation with her sister and parents to Grant's surprise for her at the cabin where it all started. I can't wait to see more of them in future books of the series.

One of my favorite things about this series is the importance of friendship. The men of RWR, besides being former SEAL teammates, have deep ties of friendship. They understand the challenges each faces and are equally willing to provide support or a butt-kicking, whichever the situation requires. I laughed out loud at some of the teasing, while some other conversations brought me to tears. I also loved the relationships among the various women. I laughed at some of the antics pulled by Lena, especially when it came to Cori's relationship with Grant. The pre-wedding activities before Grace and Harlan's wedding were hilarious. I can't wait to see who's up next.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "MONTANA DESIRE
I love this series written by these two amazing authors "Josie Jade & Janie Crouch" with exceptional characters & stories that hook you in from start to finish.
Grant Carter is ex-Seal with PTSD & physical injury to his spine shrapnel still inbeded moving causing him great pain but he continues to work with Resting Warrior Ranch for people like him in need.
Cori Jackson is Garnet Bend's Veterinarian & no stranger to RWR she prefers animals to people her parents & fiance Joel don't like that she didn't become a surgeon like them that hold her inheritance in their hands changing things to suit them whenever.
Grant has always watched Cori from afar he knows she's engaged to Joel but not really happy in their relationship but he won't interfere but when he hears Joel telling at her saying terrible things he comes up her rescue she's so embarrassed she avoids him thinking he overheard eat was said.
Grant needs Cori's help at RWR for an injured horse Joel dumped her so he wants to tell her how he feels about her their chemistry sparks I love these two together.
Cori find herself in an extremely dangerous situation involving horses she needs Grant's help with his injury will he be able to save her & gave a HEA.
I definitely recommend to get this amazing extemely well written story you can't put down so well worth the read it won't disappoint such an addicting story.
I'm so looking forward to the next book in this amazing series "MONTANA MYSTERY" it's "NOAH SCOTT & KATE TILLBECK'S" story can't wait to read.

the best of this series

This one stands out from the previous two. Likable, smart, independent heroine. Lovable hero. Interesting storyline. Not sure how much I liked the very last parts (it was a little too happy-happy), but overall liked the story and characters. Also, no gaping plot or storyline holes, though it would have been nice to know more about Grant’s family and past…he’s a bit one-dimensional, as we mainly only see who he is today with barely any background on him.

But will we be getting Daniel, Jude, Noah, and Liam’s stories?? No further books are currently listed as part of the series on Amazon.

I’ve read this a hundred times before so it wasn’t that exciting. Also, her boyfriend dumped her because she wanted to have sex at the kitchen table and to be tie up and this is so ordinary that it was surreal to me. Then she falls in love with the guy who obviously likes to have sex all kinds of way and they live happily ever after.

Cori Jackson is the local veterinarian. Her family is trying to blackmail her into giving up everything she loves.

Grant Carter is from the Resting Warrior Ranch. He lives with his pain every day.

Grant was everything I wanted and more, taking control when I wanted him to and backing off when we both needed it.

This new series is so intense and suspenseful. I’m in love with these Wounded Warriors and there strong women. Keep em coming.

4.25 stars-MONTANA DESIRE is the third instalment in the contemporary, adult RESTING WARRIOR RANCH erotic, romantic suspense series co-authored by Josie Jade and Janie Crouch-a spin off from Janie Crouch’s Zodiac Tactical series. This is former US Navy SEAL Grant Carter, and veterinarian Dr. Cori Jackson’s story line. MONTANA DESIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cori and Grant) MONTANA DESIRE follows the building romance and relationship between former US Navy SEAL Grant Carter, and veterinarian Dr. Cori Jackson. Grant Carter is one of seven former Navy SEALS who own and operate Resting Warrior Ranch, a ranch to aid in the recovery of injuries and PTSD for former military members, and at present Grant is still in recovery, following the explosion of an IED that left our hero with shrapnel close to his spine. For months Grant has lusted after his neighbor Dr. Cori Jackson, a woman who was in a relationship with another man but all was not well, and Grant had to place himself between Cori and her now ex, an ex that was determined to destroy Cori, no matter the cost. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Grant and Cori, and the potential fall-out as Cori is pulled into a dangerous operation, that could threaten all of Grant’s hard fought recovery.

Dr. Cori Jackson never expected to find herself facing off against an angry ex but Grant’s need to protect Cori gave our heroine pause for the future. Grant had proclaimed his attraction and need for Cori from the story line outset but Cori’s past was refusing to let go. Cori Jackson struggled with the possibility of a client destroying animals for monetary gain, and in this, Cori was about to place herself in the direct line of fire pulling the man that she loved into the middle.

The relationship between Cori and Grant is one of immediate attraction but Cori has just sent her boyfriend packing, and wasn’t looking for anything in the immediate future. Grant knew that Cori was the woman that called to his heart but Grant’s injuries were still a consideration, and the future didn’t hold any promises for our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Liam, Jude, Noah, Daniel, Lucas and Evelyn (Montana Sanctuary), Harlan and Grace (Montana Danger), Lena, Dr. Rayne; Cori’s ex Joel, and his father Graham Pearson.

MONTANA DESIRE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power, greed and control, friendships and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is sensual and seductive; the characters are energetic and charismatic.

This Resting Warrior Ranch seires is just plain awesome. Josie Jade and Janie Crouch have created remarkable characters that will reach out and grab you every time and given them stories that will capture and hold your interest. There's a great mix of drama, intrigue, danger and suspense but the emphasis is on romantic relationships. Montana Desire fills the bill perfectly.

OMG did I love Grant Carter. He's a gentleman through and through but underneath his SEAL steel core is at the ready to surface whenever the need arises. The gentle way he handled Cori and intuitively knew what she needed was fabulous. Cori Jackson has learned to do what makes her happy. She was not afraid to buck her family's demands and pursue her passion...veterinary medicine. But that doesn't mean they've stopped pressuring her even to the point of blackmail. Oh, she's "noticed" Grant for ages and having him as her neighbor is a definite plus. Finally realizing that her long time relationship was going nowhere was a watershed moment for her. Having Grant step in to make her feel safe was an eye opener. The more they are together, the more he fulfills her needs and fantasies the stronger their feelings become. Grant has long known how he feels about her but when a dangerous crisis arises the thought of possibly losing her is almost unbearable.

This book was just amazing, and filled with so much emotions! A rare friendship with so many that are at the Resting Warrior Ranch. Friends that watch your back. Every book is liked this. It’s hard sometimes to find good friends, but Cori and Grant are surrounded by them. You will feel it throughout.

I loved Cori and Grant. Ok I will say the heat love is off the charts.
Cori is a good and dedicated veterinarian. When her parents tell her they want her to stop to be something she isn’t she doesn’t agree with them. Just because they all are surgeons why she be? It’s just to get her trust fund before she’s 30. She likes it where she’s at. She has good friends. Her boyfriend supports what her parents are asking of her. The real hurtful thing is when she opens herself up, and tells him something. He begins spew calling her names, and his little tiff carries outside. Her neighbor Navy SEAL Grant Carter comes by to the rescue. She’s so humiliated as she doesn’t know if he heard any of the fight they had. So she avoids him. That’s until he asks her to check on a horse at the Resting Warrior Ranch which he works at with his buddies. He was hurt, and doesn’t move around like he used to. Only surgery will help.

Grant always liked Cori, but of course never acted on it for obvious reasons until he overheard what her boyfriend was saying to her. It was the tone he didn’t like. He wasn’t one to interfere, but it didn’t sound good so he had no choice. He did hear some things, and did not feel Cori deserved that being said to her. It was cruel. Grant would take it slow with Cori, but he wanted her to know how he felt.

Buy the book. So much more to come. It broke my heart of what happens when Cori was faced with something she didn’t want to do..., and at the same time warmed it she didn’t have a choice. Cori and Grant are great together. I wanted to strangle her ex-boyfriend and his father.

I took my good old time with this one, not because it was slow moving or I didn't want to miss anything, but because it was worth the slow burn that permeated this romance.

Cori and Grant made a fine couple. Even when they weren't a couple yet, they were a fine couple. I enjoyed the give and take between them when they were unsure of anything other than their attraction to each other.

This book contains a lot of steam but ... and I know I'm by myself in this. About every other self published romance has touches of BDSM now. Be it bondage, or Dom/sub, it is there in about half of the romances. It would be different if this was something no one has read before. It isn't. We all have read it. Those who thought Fifty was a good book have been reading it ever since. I was a little disappointed to see it in this book too because I felt it pointed the book too far towards commercialization, and not enough towards the love of writing. I will admit that the bondage portions of the book were tame, but also accurate, which is always pleasant. I didn't deduct a star for this, as it was handled well.

Overall, I would recommend this book. It does read differently than the preceding books, and that could be that I'm getting used to Josie Jade's writing style, or the books are just getting better, which is what happens when you honor and learn your craft. I definitely recommend this book.

This instalment is full of suspense but also very very steamy!
To be honest it was perhaps even a bit too much for me but i loved the story and was not able to stop reading until the last page. Grant and Cori are simply perfect together and i loved how loyal they were (also to their oath) .

Cori does not want to become a surgeon even if every member of her family is one...she prefers animals and she is a very good veterinarian. When she realises her boyfriend is not what he seems, she did not imagine the situation was much worse than that. With her boyfriend's threats, her family pressure, she needs Grant more that she could have guessed.
Grant loved Cori since he saw her the first time but did not dare to step in since she was in a relationship..when Joel dumps her he is free to protect her and to tell her what he is feeling. However the situation i not ideal with his injury getting worse, the risks Cori is taking....they will need trust but also a good dose of courage

really the story was well balanced and i enjoyed it a lot! the tension is good, investigation interesting romance sweet and steamy the only small detail i'm missing i would have wanted to learn what happened to the horses. The ending is both funny and sweet

to recommend and even better could be read as stand alone without trouble

Cori is the town's vet, and neighbor to Grant, who works at the Resting Warriors Ranch. Cori has been in a relationship with Joel for a long time now but lately something feels off, and she starts to question whether they are made for each other. One night she suggests to spice things up a little in the bedroom and Joel goes crazy saying she is a pervert and disgusting, making her feel as if she is wrong to have those needs, and to make matters worse, her neighbor Grant sees the whole thing and intervenes before Joel can get violent with her.
Deeply embarassed, Cori is set on avoiding Grant forever but he has other plans. Grant has always been attracted to Cori but she was off limits because taken, now that she is single and that he knows she shares his tastes in the bedroom, he makes it his mission to show her how not wrong her fantasies are.

All is not sunshines and roses though, danger is lurking behind the shadows when Cori suspects her ex and his father are poisoning their horses, and she will make it a point to save the animals.

I read this book in a day, I loved it. The guys of RWR are just amazing, I want more of it, and I need Jude and Lena's story.

Cori and Grant. Cori is the vet for the ranchers
. Grant is an ex Navy SEAL. I had a hard time liking either character. Grant is a gentleman but never takes Cori out on a date but the first one, a wedding they were both invited to. He annoys me with his chatter all the time and even though he says he is going to go slow, he has her tied up by the second get together. It would annoy the hell out of me if my guy constantly was grabbing my chin and asking what I was thinking, always believing something else was going on and questioning every look on my face. Also for these 2 to have survived a barn fire and she is actually unconscious at the scene in the fire, I don't believe she would be up running and not on a ventilator or O2! The doctor doing back surgery has her college scholarship in her work computer? The bad guys are caught by we hardly hear what happened to them. This book spent much time in the bedroom, it lost the story.

This one was hard for me to rate, especially since one half of this writing duo is one of my top favourite authors, but not every single book will be for everyone, no matter who writes it and that's ok.
For me personally I am not used to this much steam in a book from my favourite, so it took me by surprise and I also personally felt like there was more of it than the suspense. And while I know MANY who will adore this change of pace, I'm a self proclaimed suspense junkie.
Speaking of, while the heat was turned on high, I still got my adrenaline fix towards the end so that definitely satisfied my cravings, that and I absolutely adored Grant and Cori, both together and apart, but Grant especially.
Will they be able to have a pain free, psycho free life together?
I definitely recommend that you one click to find out.

Another hit. This series is amazing, everyone has had their own issues but together they make each other better, not only as couples but as friends.
Cory and Grant are adorable together and they compliment each other so well. They are both dealing with important and serious things in their lives, but together they are stronger. Another aspect I enjoyed in this book were the sex scenes, because they explored some stuff that intrigue so many women; bondage and domination in the bedroom. They were perfect for each other and I can't wait to hear more about them in the next book.
It's really a don't put me down series and following the couples from the other books and seeing what happens in their lives adds so much to the stories. I'm ready for the next one.

Holy hotness Batman! This is so, so good. We've met Cori and Grant before, but now they finally get together and it's everything I hoped it would be and more.
Cori finally breaks it off with her epic turd of a boyfriend in a spectacular fight that brings Grant out to help keep Cori safe and Joel off her property. But unfortunately Joel isn't completely out of Cori's life because she is his father's vet and takes care of his racehorses.
Grant finally has Cori in his life after watching her from a distance, but he has his own set of hurtles to get past. Manly a piece of shrapnel that is threatening his mobility.
I won't say any more and ruin the book, but do yourself a favor and grab book 1 and follow the Resting Warrior Ranch!

Montana Desire is the 3rd book in the authors’ Resting Warrior Ranch series. The series is built around a group of former Navy SEALS who open a ranch (Resting Warriors) in Garnet Bend Montana to rehabilitate animals so they can serve as service animals for people whom like themselves suffer from PTSD and other physical and emotional issues. Each book is a suspense romance where one of the men falls in love with a woman whose life is being threatened by a psychopath. Book 1 was Montana Sanctuary. Book 2 was Montana Danger. So readers pretty much knew the basis of the story before they’d even read the first page. This book Montana Desire is #3 in the series. As a veteran reader of hundreds of contemporary romance novels of all types you’d think the word Desire in the title would have clued me in that this book might be a bit sexier than the first two. But I was oblivious to that fact until early in the book when our female protagonist Cori Jackson suggests to her long-time boyfriend Joel that they try something other than the missionary position to spice up their sex life. I don’t know if there’s really more sex scenes in this book than in the first two but I can tell you that almost all of them involve a bit of kink in the form of bondage.
Our male protagonist is Grant who has been a secondary character in each previous book as a founding member of Resting Warriors Ranch. Going into this book we know that Grant suffers from physical wounds he received serving in the Middle East. We learn that a piece of shrapnel in Grant’s back (which the military doctors who first treated him in Germany, told him they couldn’t remove because it was too close to his spine) sometimes causes him severe, debilitating back pain. We also learn that the shrapnel is slowly migrating towards Grant’s spine where it could eventually cause him to be paralyzed. We also know that he has a crush on Cori Jackson, his next-door neighbor, the town’s veterinarian. But Cori has a boyfriend (Joel) so all he can do is look at her with longing.
In the earlier books in which Cori Jackson was a minor secondary character she’s described as a good person, having a bubbly if a bit odd or quirky personality. Honestly the only thing I found quirky about Cori (other than her sexual kink) was her preference for putting brightly colored streaks in her hair. But then again so does Lena, the owner of Deja Brew the town’s coffee shop, and nobody refers to her as odd or quirky. In this story we quickly learn that Cori comes from a long line of surgeons. Her parents are both surgeons, her siblings are all surgeons and her grandparents were surgeons. So of course, her parents expected Cori to follow in the Jackson family tradition and become a surgeon. But Cori disappoints them when she choses to be a doctor of a different kind. As her 30th birthday approaches her parents try to blackmail her into going back to medical school to become a surgeon by changing the terms of her trust fund that she was supposed to have access to when she turned 30 by demanding she become a surgeon to get her hands on the money. Now Cori isn’t a money hungry, materialistic young woman or she wouldn’t have chosen to become a veterinarian over a surgeon. But she was depending on that trust fund money to help defray the expenses of her animal clinic. It would allow her to hire another vet tech and perhaps another veterinarian. Cori has no interest in spending four years of her life training to become a surgeon but she’s afraid she won’t be able to keep her veterinary clinic (which is barely making ends meet) afloat without her trust fund money. No wonder America is currently suffering from a severe shortage of veternarians!
We also learn that Joel, Cori’s long-time boyfriend whom she’s known since grade school is a Class A self-absorbed, entitled, a-hole. When Cori suggests they try to spice up their sex life a little by doing something different from missionary, like sex from behind or in the shower or some other radical thing, he gets angry with her thinking she’s telling him he doesn’t satisfy her sexual needs. Which he doesn’t, but Cori never tried to imply that. Cori who rarely loses her temper finally loses hers with Joel and spells out all the other things she’d like to experiment with doing which are far more kinky than having shower sex. Joel loses it and calls Cori all sorts of derogatory names like whore, slut, freak etc. and breaks up with her. Cori knew it has long been rumored in their social circle that Joel had a terrible temper but she’d never witnessed it until now, so she’d ignored the rumors. Grant who hears the loud voices coming from next door steps out on to his front porch where he sees Joel storming around in a fit of temper carrying things from Cori’s house to his truck while shouting insults at Cori. When it appears Joel is about to hit Cori, Grant steps in and tells Joel to hit the road or he’ll hit him. Cori is so embarrassed thinking Grant may have overheard their argument and all the things she told Joel she was interested in trying, she thanks Grant without looking at him and runs into her house slamming the door behind her. Cori has no idea Grant has been crushing on her for the past couple of years since he came to Garnet Bend or that he has a kinky streak just as wild as hers.
Harlan’s and Grace’s (Montana Dangers protagonists) vow renewal wedding is coming up. Now that Cori no longer has a boyfriend Grant asks her to accompany him to the wedding. Cori accepts. After a wonderful evening at the wedding Cori invites Grant to come in to her house when they arrive home. Even though Grant had told Cori he wanted to take things slow because he didn’t want to be her rebound after Joel, he wanted the night to be the start of something real and long lasting, they end up in bed together. Where of course they have the best sex of their lives. Based upon what Grant overheard during Cori’s argument with Joe, Grant is curious as to whether she really wants to explore some kink. Cori answers in the affirmative. The next time they have sex Cori allows Grant to tie her up and she discovers she really, really enjoys bondage. So, most of the remaining sex scenes in this book involve Cori being restrained in one way or another and loving it. After hearing what Joel thought about her kink Cori worries that there’s something wrong with her for enjoying being bound during sex. She discusses this with her two BFFs Lena and Evelynn (the female protagonist from Montana Sanctuary) who assure her that there’s nothing wrong with a little kink as long as both parties are consenting adults and enjoy it. Lena even confesses that she’s curious about trying it herself. That is if Jude another Resting Warrior Ranch team member ever gets his head out of his ass and asks her out. But that doesn’t happen until Montana Storm, Book #5 in the series. So, Cori and Grant spend every night in each other’s beds exploring Cori’s sexual fantasies.
Meanwhile Joel tries to rape Cori while she’s tending to his father’s stable of race horses. He tells her that she is his and only his and he will be the one to decide when they’re over. Even though he was the one who broke up with her. Fortunately, a ranch hand happens into the barn before it goes too far and an extremely shaken Cori is able to escape. But of course she doesn’t report the attempted rape to the police! Why? While tending the horses Cori discovers one, Sunshine, is sick but she can’t determine why without a more thorough examination of the horse and Joel’s father refuses to allow her to even draw blood samples. Sunshine suddenly disappears from her stall and Cori discovers another race horse experiencing similar symptoms to Sunshine’s. She and Grant sneak into the stables early one morning where she draws a blood sample of the horse and sends it out for analysis. It’s then that Cori discovers that Joel’s father has been poisoning some of his horses. Despite her best efforts to keep her discovery from Joel’s father while she determines what best to do with the information, he finds out she knows. He comes to her clinic with Joel and they attempt to blackmail her into poisoning the horses herself.
Grant, wanting to get past his chronic back issues so he can have a long normal life with Cori returns to the doctor who tells him the shrapnel is migrating closer to his spine. If he doesn’t have surgery to remove the shrapnel in his back ASAP he could end up paralyzed. The risk is that because the shrapnel is already close to Grant’s spine, the surgery could end up causing him to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Which begs the question, why didn’t the military surgeons who operated on Grant immediately after he was wounded remove the shrapnel then when it was the furthest from his spine? Since he would likely end up paralyzed anyway, Grant makes what I thought was a no brainer decision to go ahead and have the surgery which the specialist his doctor sends him to who tells him it has an 85% chance of being successful. But he also tells Cori he doesn’t want to make any long term commitments to her until after the surgery because if it goes badly he doesn’t want her committed to spending her life caring for a wheelchair bound man.
The only real surprise for me at the end of this story is what amazing assholes Cori’s parents continue to be. But between Cori and Grant’s budding romance and Cori’s dramatic rescue, even knowing it ends in a H.E.A. its still a great read with plenty of romance, steamy sex and heart stopping danger.

Yes, hi, hello, this book brought out all the feels! For one, I want to punch Cori’s ex square in the face. Two, I’m pretty sure Cori and Grant just about set me on fire with these heated glances, because holy cow they’re hot 🔥 I absolutely love Grant’s patience and communication. Constantly checking in with Cori and that she’s still with him?! Be still my heart. This one had me in tears with some of the twists towards the end, but I loved the suspense and the mystery. Once again, I absolutely flew through this one and am immediately moving onto the next book in the series!!

Grant and Cori

This was fast paced and I couldn't put it down. There were some unique (to me) plot points that were interesting. Excellent!

This book is absolutely amazing! Grant and Cori are my favorite couple, so far; they fit together perfectly. Crouch and Jade have done an outstanding job with this new series. I cannot get enough of it! Before it's even halfway through, I know this will be one of my favorite series and will be re-read many times down the road.

Grant is seriously swoon-worthy, in tune with Cori's thoughts and her every movement. All he wants to do is please her, show her what it's like to go after what you want and not feel ashamed because your desires are not the norm. He's a take-charge guy, with the sexy moves and the right words to make Cori's heart flutter, along with being the perfect gentleman, protector, and partner. I did say swoon, right?! He has his share of demons to deal with - in the form of PTSD and shrapnel on his spine. But being with Cori makes the pain subside and life, in general, easier and helps him make a decision that will change his life, hopefully for the better. When a dangerous event has him spiraling, his only thoughts are of Cori and the future he wants to build with her. Pushing through the immediate threat, one snap decision has him putting everything on the line. One hesitation, one wrong step and it will all go up in smoke.

Cori is such a sweetheart. A bright, bubbly personality, always with a smile on her face. She has a passion for animals and loves her job, her home, and her friends. She's had a few knocks recently from her family and her ex and is trying to wade through a decision that has her tied in knots; an ultimatum from her parents. Being with Grant makes her happy and the decision she has to make much clearer until it doesn't. A shocking discovery puts Cori right in the line of danger with a heartbreaking choice to make. She's scared and desperate for a way out. Despite recent events, will Grant and the RWR guys be able to get to her in time? Or will the happiness she finally found go up in flames?

Wounded hero, friends to lovers, small-town setting, band of brothers, swoon-worthy romance, smoking hot chemistry wrapped in suspense, danger, excitement, friendship, family, and love. Must read!

Montana Desire is the third book in the Resting Warrior Ranch series by Josie Jade and Janie Crouch. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly encourage you to read the other two books in the series because they are good and so you can follow along with the dialogue and characters better.

Montana Desire is the romantic suspense story between Grant Carter and Cori Jackson. As one of the owners of resting Warrior Ranch, he understands the importance and priority the ranch’s purpose for their clients very well even if he isn’t one to embrace and apply the ranch’s purposes himself. Years after his injury while on a mission, he is constantly reminded of the event and how one piece of shrapnel can affect and ruin his life. His only saving grace is his beautiful neighbor. She is the only one that can turn his whole day around with just a smile.

Cori Jackson is Garnet Bend’s veterinarian and is no stranger to the RWR ranch. And while she prefers animals on most days, she loves her girl friends (Lena, Evelyn, and Grace) and how they just know how to make her feel included and a part of the group. Growing up as the black sheep in her family and living under their scrutiny, she realizes that her life hasn’t been entirely hers. When she is free of the last tie to the life she grew up in, she is able to see life, people, and/or things around her in a different light- especially her next door neighbor, Grant.

This book was wow! Super steamy and delicious as well as action packed, suspenseful, and forces you to devour this book in one sitting because you still have to know what happens next. And I loved it all! I was hooked on page one and it was everything you could want in a book and more. The spice and steamy events were notch above what the previous books were and a little on the dark side, but it was tasteful and nothing you wouldn’t read in other books in this genre. But let me say that those scenes will make your toes curl and cause you to melting at Grant’s words and movements. Who knew the words I’m with you and deliberate could be so sensuous. They way Cori and Grant came together was like the missing pieces to the puzzle. They were the ying to each other’s yang and gave each other the love, passion, support and drive they both needed.

I really need Jude and Lena to get together. Without a doubt I know that when they do, it will be explosive and so so so GOOD!!! I could see the seeds being planted in this book and oh man, I can’t wait to see how their story unfolds and blooms.

I am wondering if Mara and Rayne will have a book. They both have been in the background in these books so far, but I feel like their stories are one that need to be told. And Liam…I feel like his story will be an entertaining and good one.

I love how this series is kinda of like an ongoing book with all its crossover characters and keeping up with their lives. And I kinda hate how I read this book so fast since July seems like forever and day away. But at least it will give me time to re-read the series before the next one comes out. Can’t wait to see what Noah and Kate’s story is all about.

I am a huge fan of Janie Crouch’s and now Josie Jade’s- thanks to this collaboration. Whoever decided on this author collaboration is a genius! I thoroughly enjoy every book they have written together. Their books just keep getting better and better!!! Highly recommend this book and this whole series!

‼️MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD‼️

Unrelated to the book, looking back at my book list, I always wondered why I never wrote reviews. But it’s hitting me today - when you’re reading to escape the shackles of reality, it’s impossible to be objective and worse, it takes a herculean amount of energy to summon the words for a review.

“There was something beautiful and comforting about finding that person who made you better and accepted you for who you were.”

This book is about Grant, who is suffering the aftermath of shrapnel lodged in his spine, and Cori, fighting her share of battles with her family, career and love life, and how the both of them come together and heal each other’s wounds with their love and presence.

Out of all the characters, the last person I assumed I would relate to was Grant. Reading about the agony and chronic pain Grant was in felt like reading about myself - the difference being that he had a supportive family who was willing to step in for him on all days. But the anger and frustration that comes with being in intense pain and feeling helpless do tend to make you someone you don’t want to be and make you say things you don’t mean. There were so many portions of the book that I kept highlighting as my soul kept resonating with his thoughts, and I can’t help but share some of them:
▪️“But reframing and good thoughts and singing “Kumbaya” didn’t help anything when you were in pain and feeling useless—especially pain that couldn’t be helped by taking anything. ”
▪️“It would be great if someone could just hit me over the head until this little session of agony was over.”
▪️“I felt tightness in my chest, a fuse getting ready to burst. I needed to leave before I said anything stupid. These were my friends, and I knew their intentions were good. But I just…couldn’t right now.”

I loved the bonding between Cori, Lena and Evelyn. Honestly, Lena is such a precious gem of a person. I adore how Lena and Evelyn always make others feel included and seen. I’m beginning to appreciate the brotherhood and the sanctity of their found family being highlighted more with each consequent book.

Overall, I found this book the most captivating out of the three I’ve read so far, but being the slow-burn fan I am, the extremely rapid progression of the love in these series doesn’t click with me. Another aspect is physical intimacy, which was explored in more detail in this book compared to the rest, with chapters 14, 18, 19 and 23 consisting of most open-door scenarios. I loved witnessing the growth arc of both Grant and Cori, with the former realising that he needed to take better care of himself and be proactive about his health and the latter realising her self-worth and standing up for what is right.

That said, I do advise anyone wanting to read this to double-check with the trigger warnings since there are mentions of both verbal and physical assault and explorations into non-vanilla sexual fantasies.

“Not having to shoulder everything in life by myself. Someone who would be able to help sort through the stuff with my family and not judge me for it. Someone I could laugh with and cuddle with and look forward to seeing at the end of the day.”

Another great book by Josie Jade and Janie Crouch. Montana Desire is the third book in the Resting Warrior Ranch series and is Cori and Grant's story. Grant is a former Navy SEAL and one of the owners of the Resting Warrior Ranch. Grant deals with pain on a daily basis due to an explosion he was caught in during a mission. The explosion left shrapnel embedded in his spine. The shrapnel is too close to his nerves to be operated on safely without the risk of paralysis. He still has to live with the fact that the shrapnel can shift at anytime and cause him to lose the mobility of his legs. He firmly believes that no one will want to live with the burden of having to care for him if he were to become paralyzed. Cori, Grant's neighbor, is the local vet for Garnet Bend; she is very passionate about her job despite the opinions of her family. She comes from a family of surgeons, who are not thrilled with her decision to become a vet. Her parents decide to change the terms of her trust, stating she must go back to medical school to become a surgeon before she can access her trust. This puts her in a bind because she needs the money in the trust to keep her clinic afloat, but she has no desire to return to medical school or to become a surgeon. She is also questioning her relationship with her boyfriend, Joel; she wants to spice up their love life and decides to talk to him about it. The talk doesn't go as she expected and they end up breaking up. Grant who witnesses this breakup steps in when it appears like Joel is going to raise his hands to Cori. Joel leaves but he is not happy about the breakup and ends up attacking Cori while she is treating horses at his fathers Stables. Cori manages to get away when a ranch hand shows up but she is still shaken up when she gets home. Grant can tell something is wrong with Cori, even if she refuses to give any details, he concludes it has something to do with Joel. She's terrified to go back to his fathers stables but she knows there's no other vet close enough to take the job. Grant decides he will go with her whenever she has to treat the Pearson horses. This brings the two closer together and before long they are dating. Cori and Grant are perfect for each other. Grant is always there for Cori and makes her feel secure enough to share her deepest desires and is more than willing to help her live those desires. Cori helps Grant realize that its possible for him to be loved regardless of what the future might hold for him. Cori is willing to stick by his side whether he is standing on his two legs or confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Their story is truly breathtaking and a must read. Thank you Josie and Jade for another great story.

Western Montana set romance
PTSD and retired military themes
2/5 romance
2/5 physical intimacy
1/5 suspense
0/5 storyline
-10000/5 narration

It was a STRUGGLE to get through this hot garbage. The second book in the Resting Warrior Ranch series (no, I still haven't gotten around to the first) was 10x better than this. What the hell happened? It felt like the author had a vague idea of what she wanted to write, and then decided that she'd rather do anything but, and we ended up with this completely underwhelming story.

1 minute summary is that the FL is dating a piece of shit, her parents are blackmailing her to force her to become a surgeon just because ALL of her family are surgeons, and one of the people who hires her for her veterinary expertise is poisoning horses to benefit his pocketbook - but isn't smart enough to keep her away from them.

The romance was complete crap. Grant and wtf is her name? Gol, I hated her so much that I can't remember. Cori! It's Cori. Okay. Cori and Grant's romance? I'm sorry. There was romance? Could have fooled me. It's the worst of the worst written insta-love garbage trope. He loves her cause... Oh yeah, I don't think they ever really explained it. She just makes him go all "cave man" - because, you know, he just LOVES protecting her cause... Well. Reasons, okay? And she loves him cause... Uh, you know? I don't think the author knew either.

The narration. OMFG - someone HELP ME. The female narrator actually hurt me mentally. She was so nasal, whiney, and forcing some kind of fake sexy act through the entire book that I wanted to smash my head against a wall. It was a massive turn off and I am beyond happy that I don't have to listen to her anymore.
The male narrator was the same as the second book in the series, and did change up his tonality a little to further separate the two characters but... It ended up weird. He kept on growling and coming onto the microphone hard enough that even my cats were cringing. It ended up feeling very uncomfortable and strained.

Most of (all of?) the things that I loved in the second book were completely shoved aside in this one. The friendship between all the women was there but read like some kind of weird (super forced) support group for the reader. Grant's brothers in arms were almost completely nonexistent throughout the entire book and left me wanting so much more for him.

The sex was... Underwhelming and over done. Instead of really giving us good suspense or scary thriller aspects, it really felt like the author just focused entirely on the couple back and forth and back and forth and nothing else in any great detail. So, the book ended FLAT FLAT FLAT.

I do not recommend this book at all. Garbageeeee.
