Nora Ash

I am Nora Ash, and I write a plethora of different romance books. Some of them are really dirty, some of them are only kinda-dirty, some are paranormal, some are contemporary… Basically, I have a rampant imagination and no way of controlling it, except from just writing down whichever idea pops into my head at the time.

The one thing my books always have in common, though? A great story and a guaranteed HEA.
If you’re ever in doubt about what you’re about to read, have a look at my book page. It has a flame rating for each series, so you know what you’re getting yourself into!

I’m originally from the cold North (AKA Scandinavia) but these days I live in rainy England with my amazing fiancé and our two pesty cats. When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, watching Real Housewives of Wherever (reality tv it’s my shameful addiction) or hiking in whatever bit of woodland I can find.

Three fun facts about me

I once ran away with a traveling circus
I’m bilingual. Almost-kinda trilingual, but my Spanish is terri-bad these days.
I’m a decent rider (English style only, though)

I want to read more romance anthologies after this as I found it to be a great way of getting a taste of new authors. I'll just comment on those who made a an impact, good or bad.

An alpha for the pack: I'm still confused if I enjoyed this or not but it definitely made an impression. Perhaps I need to pick something up by Merel Peirce.

Of tentacles and fin: absolutely not. The heroine was described as being "in agony" multiple times and it was obvious it far far more pain then enjoyment of the sex scenes. One of the romances which I don't hope for a HEA.

The monster under my bed: surprisingly cute story with a lot of spice. Found it cute that they have had an connection all her life and gradually evolved to romantic. Although have to admit that I don't otherwise enjoy that storyline.

Demon of her dreams: at first I didn't like this one one bit, made me uncomfortable. However after the "plot twist", I was all about the romance.

Invaded was the last one but my absolute favorite. It was a short story of the kind of alien romance I didn't know I was looking for! The alien, where definitely Alien! With many different bodily looks and functions than human. One more octopus looking and one more like a bird. Love that it discuss a lot of their differences and behavior and the romance that the three found themselves in. I need to buy books from this author but not sure if I want to start with the full version of the story or jump into the next one

4.5 stars for The Demon's Bargain by Nora Ash

description

When he looked at me again, there was wicked amusement in his black eyes. “No, sweet thing. I will not be satisfied with a week of service.” “What, then?” I asked, unable to keep the pleading note from my voice. “What else do you want?” He gave me a long, calculating look. I suppressed a shudder as every cell in my body lit up with awareness under his predatory stare. “One night,” he finally said.

description

Lithely, like a stalking panther, Kurt walked the few steps to the edge of my bed. He reached out to curl his fingers around my chin, and my breath hitched in my throat. “What a pretty little mortal I’ve bought,” he whispered. There was no softness in his voice, nor in his gaze as he flicked it from my lips to my eyes.

“I could swathe your mind, darling. Make you beg for it.”
“When you lose yourself to me, there is nothing to hide behind. No pretense. Just you and your little cunt surrendering to a monster."

Emma is in desperate straits. She summons a demon, thinking it will help her out of her ordeal, but soon finds out she's in way over her head. Nora Ash outdid herself in this short story. Very well-done, and exceeded my expectations. This author writes demon smut like no other. If you like this I highly recommend Demon's Mark (which I need to leave a review for asap!). I'm def going to be rereading her demon series soon.

4 stars for In the Burn Garden by Isoellen

Whatever Kore was, owning her would be his goal, because he was a creature who claimed and discarded. He didn’t borrow, ask, or wait, and hated having to be granted the permission. But he’d captured her want. For the next hour, she was at his mercy.

description

No one would take what she did not give. Not ever again. Nothing could tempt her. Nothing. Not a male with an incredible body. Not the promise of respite from loneliness. Not momentary pleasure. She was Binda, gardener of the Burn, and her soul was her own. She knew where she came from and where she was going.

Isoellen's talent for worldbuilding shines in this short story. While only a short story, she somehow subtly weaves seeds of worldbuilding that allows for so many more possibilities should she continue to write in this world. This short story is unique in that it has a sexually liberated heroine. The Djinn is a force to be reckoned with though, and I expect if this short story continues the heroine is going to be dancing with danger.

3.85 stars for Demon of Her Dreams by Godiva Glenn
Submit. That word was a constant. Every chase, every night, all came down to his insistence that she submit. She never would.

description

She stroked her thumb across his cheek, memories assailing her. Her love for him hadn’t changed. Her desire to have him hadn’t waned. Damn it, she’d missed him. Now she was holding him, and she had a chance to keep him. “It’s real, though,” she told him. “Something about these dreams follows me back.”

Godiva Glenn is a new to me author. While this was spicy with a hint of dubcon, this turned into a short story with heart. And who doesn't want a boyfriend who turns into a demon at night?

Last, but not least, Invaded by Cass Alex

While this short story wasn't for me, I think scifi lovers (especially those who enjoy characters who have to figure out different cultures while interacting) will enjoy this. I just have to note I was highly amused when I came across this quote from Alex's short story:

If this keeps up I am going to make sock puppets and talk to myself because it’s going to be a really lonely six months.

lol. I don't know this author from adam, but when I read this I felt this author was somehow in on an inside joke? Anyway, it gave me a chuckle.

I haven't finished reading this anthology yet! I'll update it as I complete reading all the short stories. Honorable mention to Ophelia Bell! She wrote a strong heroine in an interesting fantasy setting, and the writing style was excellent. For new readers to this anthology go into this knowing these are *short stories* I hope the authors republish & expand many of them.

I urge you to read alone 🥵

I’m always weary of anthologies because I’m never sure I’ll like them. They have new-to-me authors and different short stories, both of which I’m not sure I’d like. But this one surprised me and I’m more than pleased. I do want to break down my ratings because each one has different writing, stories, heat, etc. I took the average to get me my big rating 😇

5⭐️ The heat was mega intense 🥵, absolutely loved it, desperately want a novel of this.
4⭐️ Really liked it, heat was great, just lacking a little something.
3⭐️ Heat might’ve been okay, but I cringed from the writing or something was problematic.
2⭐️ Yikes. This one terrified me (not bc it’s scary) but because I’m deathly afraid of the ocean and large bodies of water. Also everything that happened was nonconsensual- even to the very end. I’m not sure the FMC enjoyed one second of it. I felt so bad for how terrified she was in this. I was uncomfortable.

The Demon's Bargain by Nora Ash, 5⭐️
An Alpha for the Pack by Merel Pierce, 5⭐️
Dominating the Demoness by Ophelia Bell, 4⭐️
In the Burn Garden by Isoellen, 3⭐️
Star Crossed by Leslie Chase, 4⭐️
Of Tentacles and Fin by V.T. Bonds, 2⭐️
The Monster Under My Bed by L.V. Lane, 4⭐️
My Monster by Leann Ryans, 5⭐️
Demon of Her Dreams by Godiva Glenn, 5⭐️

Monsters After Dark sounded delicious, and i was só lucky to get the ARC! Because it ís delicious,it ís dark, and i loved it!

It starts with a demon, and not just any demon. No,Kurt is one of Nora Ash’s demons, and they are HOT!
Emma is in trouble, and desperate enough to follow the advice of Barry when she tries to steal from him.
Summon a demon,yeah right….Like those exist!
Only what to do when one appears, and wants your soul? Can you bargain with a demon? But what to give?

Merel Pierce is next, and you know her Alphas, right?
Well,Moira is about to meet an ALPHA….
Forced to work for Brande Defences, she does her best to make the pack she’s responsible for as comfortable as possible. Having lost their Alpha on their latest mission, her pack is suffering.
When her supervisor and her manager show her the new Alpha they’ve caught, and order her to find a way to calm him,she knows she has to do all she can. Because the alternative for Joseph is death….

Ophelia Bell’s demigoddess Diviner lives to torment and dominate her worshippers, but her latest visitor is different….Seeing him, looking in his eyes, hearing his offer makes her think…Her tails capture Chaos,in every place they can reach and it’s when he comes that she sees what he means. He really wants to create an universe with her….Showing his true self will make her submit to him, right?

Isoellen’s Binda works in the burn garden, that is in a forbidden bit of land. The Fall had a strange effect on a lot of things, and the crops in her garden were proof of that. And the other things that kept popping up….like that strange bottle she found. When she accidentally opens it,smoke pours out. But instead of spreading,it thickens into a nightmarish creature! One that wants her….Is there a way for her to control this situation? Even though she feels a strange kind of attraction?

Leslie Chase’s Star Crossed starts with the Stardancer coming out of hyperspace in the middle of a debris field, instead of at the edge. And in that field, there’s a battleship from the legendary Elder race. This could be the biggest prize for Stardancer Salvage ever.Only, once Izzy finally finds a way into the hull, she finds someone is already there. A ship of the Kyross Collective to be precise. Krell Kyross may claim the battleship as his….but his ship is damaged by the debris, too. Can they work together? In spite of their family feud? They may feel an attraction when they meet on her ship, but is that enough?

V.T. Bonds’ story is a wet one…..Sara had great plans for her vacation. Instead she’s sitting in a life raft, adrift on the ocean. Giving up on being rescued, giving up on survival. When a creature rises from the waves to grab her, she’s terrified. She accepted to die slowly, from dehydration and the heat, but this? No! She struggles against his tentacles, and arms, getting nowhere. And then he bites…..He drags her into the water, where yet another monster is waiting….Is she going to drown, and die in agony as they have their way with her?

L.V. Lane tells the story about the monster that lives under the maiden’s bed. You know the one….right? The one that keeps the other monsters at bay. But also the one that sates certain needs….The ones that grow different with aging. But this time it’s not the same…..it’s fiercer, wilder and rougher. And still the maiden needs more, because she still has one secret desire….

Leann Ryans’ monster is a very different one. After her father died, the sweet omega was forced to run when all the alphas were fighting eachother to claim her, even before her murdered father’s body grew cold. None of them deserved to claim her, ever! Seeking refuge in the caves she found, she thought she was safe enough to go through her heat undedected. Not knowing there was another kind of alpha living there….And he is nothing like the ones she left behind. He may look like a monster, but is he one?

Godiva Glenn’s story is about nightmares. Farrah wishes for a decent night’s sleep. Because her nightmare grows darker and more desperate every night. Even going to a hotel filled with sweet memories of her and her late fiancé Nathan didn’t help, the nightmare found her even there. And tonight the demon in it was going to claim her…Giving in was not an option, even though her body started to react to his demands. Or maybe she could pretend it was Nathan…..

Cass Alex’ story is in outer space. Dayzee is sent to an outpost planet by Unified Governing Patrol.
The base has two neighboring species that “dislike” eachother, and she’s expected to figure out the problem and find a solution. One species is bird like, the other squid/octopus like. Khaw is the aviarid she studies, and Gluub the octoceph. And from the first time she secretly observes them, and trust me they know she does from the start, something changes between these two men. These three even find a way to communicate. Khaw finds that he looks forward to seeing Dayzee and Gluub. He even goes with Gluub to observe the “fleshies” in their own habitat, and what they see, makes them wonder….And Dayzee’s reaction once they watch it with her? Does that mean they can have that with her? Let’s say these two are very good students!

This anthology was such fun to read! Each story has it’s own kind of monster,it’s own brand of darkness. And they all convinced their other halves they were meant to be together in their own unique way…..

Anthologies are hard to rate because there isn’t much page-time/substance to each narrative to really rate. The stories in Monsters After Dark are quite short and several are predominantly smut.

The Demon’s Bargain By Nora Ash
Emma is on the run from the Russian mafia when she’s given instructions to summon a demon. This one is short; it takes place over a couple hours mostly them having sex.

An Alpha for the Pack By Merel Pierce
This one is a bit weird/hard to keep up. There’s little worldbuilding, but in a nutshell… I think Moira is a human the works with an organization that snatches werewolves that mostly stay in wolf form and only human for full moons to use as soldiers. (??)

Dominating the Demigoddess By Ophelia Bell
Diviner is a powerful demigoddess gets a visit from the God Chaos looking for a mate. This is basically one sex scene between the two (both monsters) with Medusa-esque snakes, tails, hooves, etc.

In the Burn Garden By Isoellen
Binda discovers a genie bottle and releases Kore… and takes her payment as pleasure. This is really short and mostly a sex scene.

Star Crossed By Leslie Chase
Izzy and Krell’s families are enemies and find themselves stranded on the same planet. Soon they discover that there’re two sides to every story and find they work well together…

Of Tentacles and Fin By V.T. Bonds
Sara is on a life raft preparing for death when a tentacle-man creature bites/transforms her into a deep-sea omega. This one is MFM (monster-female-monster) and not loads of fun for Sara. The octo-man and shark-man are quite rough with her. The author hints this one might be turned into a book.

The Monster Under My Bed By L.V. Lane
A woman’s relationship with the monster under her bed transforms from protector to lover.

My Monster By Leann Ryans
The h is on the run from evil alpha’s when she takes refuge in a cave… where she runs into a different type of alpha worthy of claiming her.

Demon of her Dreams By Godiva Glenn
Farrah is having nightmares about a demon chasing her. What happens when he catches her?

Invaded By Cass Alex
This one had the most story. Dayzee is sent to an outpost planet to research local species. Khaw is a bird-man species and Gluub is a water-octo-squid man species. The three become friends that leads to more. This one is smut-lite but has a MMF scene.

Bottom Line- Ok, not great. They’re short, smutty reads. I got this as a freebie… not sure it’s worth the 3 bucks though, but it does give you a little sample of each author’s writing style.

Demon's Bargain by Nora Ash - 4 stars

I enjoyed this scorching hot story in all the right ways and my only complaint would be that it left me wanting more, so much more from Emma and her demon Kurt. Despite being a pretty quick read of only one scene I definitely caught some feels from this tale and genuinely felt the connection between Emma and Kurt. I can but hope that Ms Ash transforms this into a full-length story at some point in the future.

An Alpha for the Pack by Merel Pierce - 4 stars

I struggled with rating this one. Not because the writing wasn't great - it is - or the story was bad - it wasn't - but because I was SO immersed in the story and SO invested in Moira and her boys that the abrupt ending was like a kick in the gut. I will be most displeased with the author if she doesn't extend this into a full-length novel - or more. There was world-building, back-story, character development and HEAT all squished into one teeny-tiny little short story. Lord knows how I will survive the impact when if this is ever reworked into a longer book.

While I love alien romances, it was hard to connect with and visualize successfully.

At the end of this story, the author does acknowledge that this was just a shortened version to fit the anthology and will be expanded into a full version.

I received an advanced copy of Monsters After Dark for free in exchange for my honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this collection of short stories and getting acquainted with the work of authors that I have not read before. I am familiar with Ophelia Bell and her contribution to the book was as amazing as I expected. I was pleased to find a couple of other authors styles that I enjoyed as well. Some of these stories involve a certain lack of consent hence why I went with a four star rating instead of five, making this series definitely not for everyone. If you are open minded and enjoy the unusual you definitely need to read this collection. I look forward to reading more from these authors in the future.

Holy hotness batman! This anthology is freaking amazing! Filled with amazing short stories that blew me away. I had questions and need answers from most of them! I hope the authors expand and release all these short stories as future books from them. I will be gobbling them all up if they do. I am so freaking happy that I have found more authors that I can follow and devour all their books. All I can say is run and get this book! You won't regret it!

I received an arc for an honest review, I also bought a copy because I loved it so much.

Do you want demons, werewolves or the monster under your bed? Then this anthology is for you. I was completely consumed by this book, and I loved every story.

They're short steamy reads but some have the room to grow to be more!

This anthology of sexy and scary stories is first class; I wouldn't give any less than 4 stars. Oddly, my favourite features the least monstrous creature; Leslie Chase's Star Crossed is a sci-fi romance which is funny as well as tender. Something for everyone here.

This was a great anthology with a lot of monster spice! Usually with anthologies a couple of the stories don't do it for me but all of these were great bite size stories. Honestly I wish I got a full book for some of them. I've also included a one sentence summary for each story so you can see if you want to read it or not.

The demon’s bargain
A fun spicy story with the best deal you could get out of a demon.

An alpha for the pack
A sci-fi type romance with a cool take on werewolves.

Dominating the demigoddess
Greek mythology with lots of tentacle fun.

In the burn garden
Finding a mysterious creature in a bottle that gives the best reward.

Star crossed
A sci-fi romance with aliens, scavenging, and family feuds.

Of tentacles and fins
An omegaverse with multiple sea creatures and a girl stranded in the middle of the ocean.

The monster under my bed
The monster under the bed does more than just scare it this short story.

My monster
An omegaverse where a secluded heroine needs help through her heat

Demon of her dreams
A demon haunts her nightmares but wants more than just her nights.

Invaded
Exploring a new planet with not one but two different alien species.

I really enjoyed this anthology: 10 super-short erotic tales featuring monsters of all shapes and sizes – demons, aliens, beasts and sea creatures. These muscle-bound males are possessive, dominant, demanding and determined to conquer and claim – easily done when they’re epically endowed and aided in some cases by spurs, or knots. Overall, there’s some humour, angst, dirty talk and plenty of intensely steamy, explicit sex featuring MF, MFM scenes, plus a bit of MM – with willing and eager females, for the most part, but also a few reluctant ones.

The only author in this collection that I’ve previously read is Nora Ash, and I loved her contribution – The Demon’s Bargain which is set in her ‘Demon’s Mark’ universe. But now, after this introduction to these other talented authors, I’m looking forward to reading more stories from them.

I received an Advance Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A definite must read for those who love knots, monsters, demons and the lot of lovable misfits that go bump in the night!
As with most anthologies there were some i didnt care for, just not my cup of tea and couldn't follow along with what was going where and who was doing what! This collection had only one of those which out of 10 is a great stat in my opinion!!
I am down for any book that gives me a sneak peek into an author's writing story and somewhat wraps the short story up in the anthology instead of leaving me on a major cliffy. (Patience is a virtue I do not possess, but I hear it comes in handy at times!)
All in all I recommend this collection for those looking for 10 quick reads that encompass ALL the men's and the parts! (Spurs, knots, 2 for 1, oh my!)

First off just want to say I loved this anthology so much. Each book brings the steam but each story is so different. Definitely recommend to all my monster/alien lovers out there🤩. Below I give a brief description of each story and then what I liked about them😉

⭐️Demons Bargain by Nora Ash

You get the monsters falling for each other in this one❤️Rating:5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐️In the Burn Garden by Isoellen
Story- Binda finds a mysterious bottle in her supposedly curse garden but will she loose herself when the monster within offers her pleasure she’s never felt before?

So hot 🥵. These two bring the heat in this one and i so did not see that ending coming🤭.
Rating: 5/5🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

⭐️Star Crossed by Leslie Chase

⭐️My Monster by Leann Ryans

What happens when some of the best omegaverse writers get together to write some smexy monster short stories??? Monsters After Dark is what happens. These 10 short stories are sure to keep anyone “entertained” ;) The writing is great, I wouldn’t expect anything else. A must read and my newest guilty pleasure.

This collection of short stories was entertaining, though I personally thought the word count for each story in this anthology was way too short. It seems like most modern multi-author anthologies contain short stories nowadays instead of proper novellas like in the old days. However, several of the stories in this anthology were deeply intriguing, and I would buy the full romance novel length version of the story in a hot minute if the author chose to expand it, because the world building and/or characterization was very interesting. (Sexy wolfman romance, please, Merel Pierce?) A very hot, fun anthology that is worth reading!

I received a free copy of this book, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Monsters After Dark Anthology has ten short hot, steamy stories.

The Monster Under My Bed by L.V. Lane was a hot, steamy read and I really enjoyed it.

This book has a little bit of everything in it and I found some new authors that I will definitely check out.

If monsters are your thing then this anthology of shorts is exactly what you need to get your hands on.

From werewolves to demi gods these author's have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at you.

You start the book off making an amazing deal with a demon and end up selling way more than your body, along the way you fall in love with a pack of werewolves, get teased by demi god with the head of a bull and take charge of a genie like creature from a bottle.

And that's only the beginning. Stick around and you'll get rewarded by tentacles and have the monster under your bed scare off you're other demons.

Honestly this book left me so hot and so ready for more that I honestly don't know how I'll ever get enough.

I love Anthologies! I usually get ones with at least one author I know so I know I will enjoy at least one story. The reason I love anthologies tho is because I get to find new authors! And this one had a bunch of authors I already love and then I got to read stories by new to me authors.

I also loved the theme for this one, because it is interesting to see how each author comes up with a different type of monster and Halloween is one of my favorite times of year!

I would have to say that Merel Pierece's and L.V. Lanes are my favorite stories, although I think this anthology has something for everyone and that it would be hard to be disapointed. I did see a review somewhere that said Isoellen's short was lacking a proper HEA. And I have to agree. The reader was correct. She will have to fix that. Watch for free ending from the author.

A monster for every reader

Monsters after Dark is the debut anthology from my fantastic fb group: Monsters, Demons and Knotting, Oh My!

I feel like this group is my baby! How we have grown in just over a year… over 3K members! (might be 4K now, I didn’t check prior to the review) Authors and readers a like! It’s absolutely amazing. And to have produced a book from it? This is fabulous!

Overall
As the title suggests, this book really does have a monster for every reader (some you may not have even considered). I liked the quick stories as I felt like I was really hitting my reading challenge, which is great.

This was also a great opportunity for me to “meet” some new authors, as this was the first time I had actually read their work. I have books they have written but I must confess they are fully deep in my tbr list so this was really great.

I must say, I will defo be hitting up L.V. Lane, Leann Ryans and Godiva Glenn because I really enjoyed the writing styles and the stories were hella entertaining- so they will now officially move up my tbr list.

The known naughties
You’ve seen my read list and know I’m a mad fan of Nora Ash and Ophelia Bell so no surprise I enjoyed those stories! I knew what I was getting and as usual! I want more! Ophelia dropped some next teaser of a story! I hope The Diviner and Chaos get another extended story- they deserve it- and so do I🤣🤣🤣 he sounds fun!

Demon’s Mark series is what got me hooked on Nora so I am very much into all the shenanigans! And yes! I want more. It felt very relatable- won’t add spoilers but I know people that would try this (just read it 😈).

Out comes surprise
I wouldn’t say I’m a fantasy / sci- fi? reader but my love of Ruby Dixon might prove me to be wrong 🤣🤣.

Star Crossed by Leslie Chase might also prove me to be wrong on that front, I enjoyed meeting Izzy and Krell. This was the beginning of a great story- why so short (she says, knowing it’s in an anthology haha).

For the others, overall I enjoyed the stories but maybe not to my taste- I would still recommend though! So I’m not writing them off. I was looking forward to how An alpha for the pack by Merel Pierce would develop but I didn’t like the ending- maybe that’s picked up in another book- again accepting that this is an anthology so all the stories are short.

Would I recommend?: YES
Would I recommend the group?: YES and have numerous times! It’s a great community.

3.8 stars

I really enjoyed most of these. The whole market is saturated with monster stories and three of these were able to set themselves apart. I particularly enjoyed Ophelia Bell, V.T. Bonds, and Cass Alex for their originality in subject matter and concept.

We'll break this down per story, because I think that's fair. I'm also putting this firmly in the erotica category since some of these don't have the HEA required for a full romance.

The Demon's Bargain: Solid 3 stars, not bad. Love a hot demon and he gave me Rhysand vibes at first.

An Alpha for the Pack: 1 star, boring and kinda weird.

Dominating the Demigoddess: 1 star, not sure what I even read to be honest.

In the Burn Garden: 2 stars, but also weirdly boring.

Star Crossed: 5 stars, 10/10 the best story in this anthology and the only one I really enjoyed fully and isn't a tad bit problematic. This story saves the whole thing for me.

Of Tentacles & Fin: DNF - skipped after a few weird, confusing pages.

The Monster Under My Bed: 3 stars, again, not bad.

My Monster: DNF - skipped QUICK.

Demon of her Dreams: 2 stars, confusing but okay?

Invaded: DNF - skipped after realizing one of the monsters was basically a bird-man. Even I have limits, people.
