Who is the antsy, beautiful guy in my passenger seat? Or rather, what is he?
Wrongly accused of murder and running for his life, Charley took a chance on the hot stranger with a fast car. He didn’t expect the gorgeous Luc to have any insights into Charley’s increasingly strange symptoms. He certainly didn’t expect to learn the fantastical stories he’d heard as a child were true. And he definitely didn’t expect to feel so strongly for someone he only just met.
Luc’s impulsive offer has landed him in charge of a sexy, enticing, not entirely human someone. Charley might have vampire blood. Surely that should make him less attractive and not more? But the mysterious Charley is irresistible, addictive even. Luc is determined to protect him from anyone and anything…mortal or otherwise.
Fang’d is the sexy first book in the Evergreen Council series, featuring a bratty half-vampire on the run, his stubborn wolf-shifter protector, and a fascinating world of supernatural beings hiding in the shadows. HEA. Standalone.
Ok, this just is not working for me. So far I'm not seeing any story, character, or romance development. The voices of the MCs are too similar. And they have sex way too much. This one has pretty much all good reviews, but I just can't continue with it. I'm bored.
My first book by Vin George and it was so much fun!!! The snark and banter made me one happy reader :). Charley is my kinda MC. A little all over the place and with a mouth that just doesn't shut up, even when it gets him into trouble. Then there's Luc. He's a wolf shifter who has taken on the immense task of keeping Charley out of said trouble. Yeah, it really is harder than it sounds. The two have quite the adventure between running from bad guys, figuring out exactly *what* Charley is, and uh, meeting the family?
This one ended with so many more places this series could go. The worldbuilding is really fascinating and I am dying to learn about some of the other paranormals mentioned. Also there was a good amount of heat, which I kind of expect in a PNR book. For some reason, I tend to DNF a PNR genre book with little to no steam, while it can work fine for me in contemporary romances. What can I say, that's how my brain works. Fang'd definitely worked for me and I'm giving George's foray into this genre 5 full stars for all the laughs and enjoyment I got out of it.
This was rather charming, and if it's the start of a series, which it seems to be, then some wonderful world building too. I have a penchant for vampire stories set in the UK and there aren't enough of them around. And I was always firmly in camp Edward, so to find a shifter I actually swooned over was a very pleasant surprise. Finally, if you enjoy books with plenty of spice, then this kicks off very early - at 6% to be precise. And they don't hold back!
I really enjoyed this start to a new series. Vin has created a rich full story with wonderfully complex characters. They may be supernatural but their ups and downs are so very relatable. The mystery that starts us off is interesting but what really makes the book is how Luc, Charley and everyone else come together. There are some fun smexy times and hints for more to come. I look forward to more in this world.
Gorgeously written, in fast-paced suspense, Vin George world builds like no other. This is a contemporary paranormal but with heart and laughter, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting cozy with Charley and Luc and their band of supernatural misfits. If you are in a book slump and are looking for an entertaining read? Fang'd kept me on my toes and invested from page one, and of course, this is M/M so expect romance packed with delicious heat . Highly recommended.
I'm not clicking with the writing style and the MCs, it's just all a bit awkward for me. Lots of steam already and I'm not feeling the chemistry, I like the concept with Charley not knowing what he is and hybrids is interesting. But it's simply not working for me.
Oh WOW.....Absolutely loved it ......if you love paranormal try this. Lucien & Charley together the chemistry between them is hot from their first meeting, Charley on the run for something he didn't do & Luc nearly running him down in is car but is unable to leave him there all alone feels from the start the connection between them the banter and snark between these two is so much fun but so sexy a wolf shifter and a vampire on the road trying to find the truth looking for help finding lots more both are protective and possessive of each other can't wait for more in series my first book by Vin George but not the last. ❤️
Vin George is another new to me author. Their excellent Fang’d , a paranormal romance, is the first in a new Evergreen Council series and I’m so excited I found it.
George has a somewhat different take on the usual shifter/hybrid vampire romance. Even on the species of vampires and weres themselves.
As a foundation story, Fang’d is such a excellent tale. It peals back the hidden layers of the world Charley Entwhistle and Lucien “Luc” Bradshaw inhabit as they race away from Charley’s hometown and serious wrongful accusations laid against Charley.
Vin George gives their characters and readers a suspenseful, gripping base as a staging point for the story. A dark night, a near crash, a flight into the dark! Then the tale gets oh so better.
Because the driver who, in his kindness in rescuing Charley, is the fascinating Lucien “Luc” Bradshaw . Luc is so much more than he appears. Luc is also one of two narrators of this remarkable story. The other being Charley, of course..
There’s so much happening to Charley. Much of which he doesn’t understand. His life has been unusual, he’s adopted and had weird physical issues no one has tried to explain. Ones that have escalated since puberty. Now he’s accused of murder, something he knows he didn’t do . He’s hurt, confused, and running.
Charley is such a complicated character that a review can’t portray his real personality. Which is terrific because Charley is at the heart of the story, it’s revelations and astonishing mysteries that move the narrative briskly forward.
Luc is at his side , his equal in depth of character, emotional issues, including historical bigotry between species, homophobia within species, and hidden elements that I’m sure will come out in future stories. Luc is an amazing being.
But Fang’d happens to be packed with them. What a joy. So I’m eagerly anticipating the new release to bring us back into this universe and into these characters lives. There’s still so many mysteries to solve.
Did I also mention the heartwarming moments too? Yes , it has those as well.
Vin George just made it onto my auto buy with this story. It’s beautifully written, the characters are engaging and fully defined, and the story incredibly well plotted with new twists on the paranormal species.
If you’re a lover of the paranormal, then I’m recommending this story and author to you. It’s a fabulous read!
Absolutely captivating paranormal romance! A real gem!
So much happens in this story! Charley is young, on the run, and has no clue about himself or the paranormal world; Luc is only slightly older but already has quite the emotional scars thanks to his pack and family. The whole mystery about Charley’s origins is only very gradually revealed. Some things are easy to guess for the observant reader, but others aren’t, and it was such fun to see it all unfold.
At first glance, the two main characters couldn’t be more wrong for each other—talk about star-crossed lovers!—and it was so, so thrilling to see them fall in lust then love. Apart from the intense heat they undoubtedly have between them, there’s also this amazing sense of connection between Luc and Charley, with both of them so protective and caring toward the other almost from their very first, rather disastrous “meeting.” The pull between them is captivating and endearing. The way they yearn to be together, the way they trust each other—in spite of what their very instinct and years of learned behavior would have them do. It just gave me all the feels. The (fated) mates trope—which I love in paranormal stories—was not unexpected, but written in a very original way, not clear and easy from the first, but something they worked out as they got to know each other. This is by no means a sappy story, but still definitely a heartwarming one. There are several genuinely touching moments that I marked so I could read them again later.
What I also found particularly touching was the whole finding family aspect of the story as the author introduces several intriguing, well-rounded secondary characters. Some more dangerous or immediately lovable than others, but all of them amazing and really helping to bring the story to an even higher level. There were also some secondary characters that I quite loathed, of course, but the bad guys, too, stayed far away from being cardboard clichés.
The worldbuilding is wonderfully detailed without straying into encyclopedic. What I loved about it is that it feels both fantastical and gritty, and firmly entrenched in a realistic contemporary setting. Fair warning, it makes the suspense and the action-filled moments incredibly intense. I couldn’t put this book down, just got completely lost in the story.
This book was written by a new to me author, but since I love PNR books I thought I’d give it a try. Definitely wasn’t disappointed. Charley is on the run from a biker gang accused of a murder he didn’t commit. After almost hitting him with his SUV, Luc offers him a ride. They are both instantly attracted to the other but Luc, being unsure of Charley’s age, is reluctant to act on the attraction. Plus he senses something “other” about him, and he would know as he’s a wolf shifter himself. The sparks between them won’t be denied though and when they come together the first time it’s fire 🔥. The chase leads them to an estate hours away where Charley discovers his biological dad is really a centuries old vampire. They all assume the other half of Charley is human, but find they are very wrong when he is protecting his mate. The original false accusation is taken care with the help of some select friends and sexy video splicing. But, just when they thought they were out of the woods another problem arises and Charley’s loved ones have to scramble before it’s too late. Great world-building, loved the secondary characters and am definitely looking to read more of this series and see Charley find the answers to his other half. As for Luc and Charley…more please 🔥🔥🔥.
Wow! This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm completely hooked. The world building is detailed and totally on par for the story and the characters are multifaceted and complex. Lucien is a wolf shifter who meets Charley, who is not entirely as he appears. Charley is on the run from a notorious motorcycle club, after being framed for a murder he didn't commit. As he and Luc try to stay one step ahead of the bikers, they also work to unravel the mystery of Charley's unique parentage. I don't want to give away any of the secrets because they really are best discovered in context to the story, but I will say that I was both pleasantly surprised and pleased. I read a lot of paranormal books and this one really stands out with its unique storyline and intriguing characters. The story takes place in Great Britain primarily, and is chock full of colorful British colloquialisms and slang. From the very start I was completely immersed in this world and absolutely entranced with the various characters. There's a fair amount of heat 🔥🔥 but it doesn't overshadow what is a really good story! Read this in KU but I'll be buying a copy so that I can re-read it and I fully give this book my hardiest recommendation! 5/5* Just superb!
This has a different feel from many in the genre, more low-key realism, centered in the characters and a very recognizable world that nonetheless is full of paranormal beings. Luc is a werewolf, estranged from his pack and family; Charley is a young man who always didn't quite fit in with his adoptive parents or his age-mates growing up. He had odd symptoms that made going outside hard for him, and gave him quirks and weirdly intense reactions to mundane things. Turns out, there's a reason for that.
As the book opens, Charley's running from trouble (and I liked that it was human criminals, not paranormal monsters, who were the threat.) Luc almost hits him when he runs across the road, and then offers him a lift instead. Charley hasn't been fool enough to get into cars with strangers, but when the alternative is probably being murdered? How much worse could it be?
The connection between Luc and Charley develops fast, but this is, after all, a world where magic comes into play in bonding. As the two young men go to seek the help of the most powerful local paranormals, and find more than they bargained for, the feel of the story remains intimate and personal, with a fair bit of heat, and a few twists and turns. The MCs feel appropriately young at times, and some bad decisions are part of their inexperience. If realistic paranormal is your jam, as it is mine, try this one.
First, there is a lot to be said about this book. There several triggers for those that are concerned. Please read the list of Trigger Warnings that George lists before attempting to read this book. This is also a burner from the very beginning. Hot and steamy. I was not prepared.
I thoroughly enjoyed the journey this book brought me on. Learning about the characters, the twists and turns, and every time you think you have something figured out there is another twist to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The world-building is amazing. Not many people can intertwine different types of paranormal creatures into one world and it work well. George does it and does it near perfect.
Charley, MC1, is such a joy to get to know. He has more angles than most characters. There are so many facets to his person that you want to know why so it doesn't feel clunky when the story takes a step back in time to explain each scar he has.
His connection with Luc, MC2, is such a good dynamic. It is hot and steamy but also loving and understanding at the same time. It comes across as a "fated lovers" without saying as much. Luc's own backstory is a little under-represented, but I'm sure that will come in further books.
I was given an ARC in return for an honest review. Thank you, it was my absolute pleasure.
Wow, I really love the world building in this story, it was so natural and flowed with the story.
The characters are beautiful and interesting, with plenty of background that is drip fed to us at just the right time without distracting from the story.
I love Charlie and Luc. Their chemistry is electric and their relationship is real, believable because of the speed with which it develops, not despite. My only worry is that this is tagged as a stand alone at the beginning of a new series, because I want more from them. I mean, it’s not as if they’re going anywhere soon, so more doesn’t seem like such a big ask.
The side characters are all amazing. The perfect support for the main storyline. I could have read about their world forever and I’m sure they all have interesting stories to tell.
Vin George has created something I can really sink my teeth into (sorry not sorry for the pun), and I cannot wait for more, more, more. I’m looking forward to see where Vin will take this, it has great potential.
An immersive and thoroughly entertaining m/m paranormal romance involving vampires, wolf shifters and even fae. The story starts when shifter Luc almost runs over Charley, a young man running away from some bad people, and helps him to escape. Fired by mutual attraction the two go on the run together, finally taking refuge at master vampire Dalziel’s estate in Scotland. Here they make several discoveries about Charley’s background, and shifters and vampires have to put aside their natural antipathy to work together when Charley is kidnapped. The characters are engaging and thoroughly realistic given the whole paranormal thing whilst the descriptions, insights and revelations kept me turning the pages for more. The book really came to life for me once Luc and Charley had arrived at Dalziel’s castle; some of the sex before that was a little graphic for my own personal taste but I still loved the book.
Not a bad start to a new series, but I had a few issues that made reading this book (which is long) a lot longer than it should have been. The contrast between the motorcycle club issues and the whole vampire hybrid issues was pretty jarring for me and seemed like a strange combination and trivial after ALL the revelations in the middle of the book. Also, it annoyed me how Luc (and maybe even Charley, I don’t remember) would point out how hot Baxter was or how he would make an attempt with her if the situation was different. Literally to Charley. Felt like that was skeezy. While we are on the topic of Luc, definitely felt like he was a hypocrite since he was all up in arms when the other half of Charley’s hybrid was revealed and distanced himself and yet when Charley’s dad was being a dolt to Luc simply for being a wolf shifter Charley stood up for him no questions asked. Charley definitely should have made him beg more for sure.
This is how you create a paranormal world! It might sound weird, but these characters and the atmosphere seemed very REAL. Like how it would be if vampires and shifters really were among us. The world building and plot of Luc rescuing Charley on the run started us on our adventure! These two were a hot and fast burn right out of the gate! And that pace fit them and their circumstance perfectly. And yes, I mean steamy hot scenes and chemistry mixed with a sweet intimacy! They both become quite possessive and protective of each other! The visual descriptions are vivid and stunning from Charley being a Goth half vamp to Luc the shifter with his "Very Lovely & Expensive Head of Dark Golden Waves! I read an arc, and I highly recommend this one if you like fantasy mixed with reality and a big dose of hot adventure woven seamlessly with a destined love story!
So many wonderful surprises in Vin George’s Fang’d.
A despondent nineteen year old, who has never fit in and has some unique quirks, is unexpectedly saved by Lucien. What neither understands is that this meeting may be fate rearing its chaotic head.
Vin George creates a fantasy where love, although not accepted by all, is ultimately found and two lives are irrevocably changed for the better. That is, after much suffering from all involved.
I thoroughly enjoyed the pace of this supernatural love story, the humor, the lust, and the love of family (no matter how unique) that shines through loud and clear.
It is my truest hope that Charley and Luc (and ALL of the supporting characters) get to visit us again in the near future!
Thank you, Vin, for a delightful and delicious book🥰
I did not know what to expect when I started reading this book since it's a new to me author. Let me tell you, I was hooked from the beginning. I read it in one seating (who needs sleep), I needed to know what was going to happen next. There so many secrets and twists and turns but written so smoothly, not making it confusing for the reader. It was funny, action packed, and sooo steamy 🔥🥵. Charley and Luc are different but perfectly balance each other out. Charley is sassy and impulsive. Luc is the voice of reason but doesn't damper or try to control Charley's spirit. The other characters are fully developed and add to the story, not just fillers. The world building is intriguing and so much more to discover. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I'm already addicted to this fascinating world
I struggle to read anything these days, but this was super easy, intriguing and there wasn't a moment when it lost its hook. No filler, just a really consistent and well paced fun read. Oh, and sexy as hell! Deep complex, compelling characters, both main and side. I can't wait to read more world building on this and get to know all of the players better. As an autistic trans guy, I found it really touching and trigger warnings aside, an entirely safe read. It's rare that there's a book that manages to get everything right, let alone one that does so in a sensitive, compelling, fun and hot way. If you don't read anything else this year, read this and fall head over heels with the guy of your choice. Or both, because honestly I couldn't decide between be or do, they're both incredible.
I flippin loved this! It's one of my favourite PNRs of recent years, and that's a high bar! One of the rare books I reread.
The premise and world-building were brilliant. Luc and Charley were endearing, very well-written main characters. The plot and adventure kept up a good pace. The spice was spot on. And the cast of secondary characters was just perfect.
I especially loved Dalziel, the 300 year old Scottish vampire, who suddenly finds out he has a son.
In this, you'll find: ✨️MM Paranormal Romance ✨️Near fantasy set in Britain ✨️Vampires ✨️Wolf shifters ✨️Fae ✨️False accusations of murder ✨️Adoption ✨️An unknown child turning up ✨️A motorcycle gang ✨️Homophobia ✨️Violence + Kidnapping ✨️Spicy scenes ✨️A HEA
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and only put my Kindle down when I absolutely had to. I love paranormal and shifter stories that are written in such a way that everthing seems perfectly normal and believable, and this definitely is such a story. I loved the MCs as well as the really wonderful secondary characters who all have their own story to tell, and everything and everyone comes together rather beautifully. Although there is a lot going on, it never feels like it's too much and it's all very well spaced and expertly interwoven. I shall definitely be reading it again, and I am really looking forward to the next installment of this series!
This book is interesting. I enjoyed the mix of paranormal beings. Charley is on the run from a motorcycle gang for a crime he did not commit. Luc Healy runs over Charley when he runs out in front of him. Charley tells him he is running from someone and Luc agrees to help him. Luc cannot tell what Charley is but that he is more than human. Charley has no idea he is more than human and knows nothing of the paranormal besides what is commonly known. As the adventure continues, the two grow closer and Charley finds out more about his ancestry. That is good, because he will need all the help he can get to get out of trouble.
Wonderful take on the shifter/vamp trope that really takes honours the standard lore while taking it in a new direction. Don't want to drop any spoilers, but Charley is something new and fresh, and I love the way Luc's human and wolf sides are depicted.
There is clearly a lot of scope for more supernatural shenanigans in this world. I like how it's still grounded in the real world, with references to pop culture that give a sense of how this reality coexists with our own.
It starts with instalust, but them falling for each other so fast feels natural given their circumstances.
...so if vampires, werewolves, and the occasional mystery guest are your favorite elements in a story, you've got it. Add some intrigue, identity questions, and a few shady characters...perfect.
It's a wonderful series and the people who are secondary to the story are as much fun to read as the MCs. I love the growing sense of 'building family' as more people are introduced, pulled into the mix, and have their particular talents revealed.
This is contemporary with M/M romance as part of the story (not 'closed door') but definitely plot driven.
I love books based in the UK and I love a vampire book! Enjoyed the story line but the fae element wasn’t concluded in anyway, annoying. The book was too long. The chapter with Luc trying to find Charley, unnecessary in my opinion, it didn’t add anything. We already knew that Luc was on love and was on edge and wanted to find him, just extra pages that dragged it out. Now I think about it, Luc being a sniffer dog, pointless.
They found him just by chance in the end. Urgh, I’ll try book 2 though. I hope we are world building and we will revisit them again in the future

I had heard so many good things about this book, and they were all true!
Vin George created a fantastical world based in the UK, filled with vampires, werewolves, and fae. The layers and textures of the story made for breathtaking reading, the visuals created with words left me flipping the pages to discover what would happen next. I did not want to put this book down.
There are twists and turns aplenty, with a 'coming of age' type of story as Charley discovers who he is, and why he has never fit in.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book, Claw'd.
