Virgin sheriff hero who's been waiting for the clumsy girl since high school. I mean, it's a very unlikely premise, but a delicious one, nevertheless.
Unfortunately, I don't think this novella can be read as a standalone. It relies heavily on the previous books in the series. The beginning of Lone Star Sheriff was very rough and confusing because it felt like I was dropped in the middle of a book. I was confused about all the references and the family jokes went over my head lol.
I suppose I have myself to blame for assuming this novella would stand well alone. However, the romance itself leaves a lot to be desired. Like I said, the premise is not realistic. But neither is the romantic development, which happens in the space of like a day or two. I had a hard time believing that the hero never made a move and just spent 10 years waiting for the heroine to magically notice him. I also had a hard time believing that the heroine had almost married another man, but that this entire time she actually had feelings for the hero. It was all very...weird.

bueno me los terminé y ahora estoy triste ☝🏻😩 adoré a estos vaqueros que debían de casarse para mantener sus tierras y al final terminaron encontrando a los amores de sus vidas.
madison y caleb me medio decepcionaron pero también me gustaron, es raro. pero wow con el hecho de que caleb espero a Madison todos esos años para perder su virginidad 🧍🏻♀️ ya no existen hombres así me temo
finalmente el abuelo Voldemort (qué risa que lo apodaran así) estiró la pata y el tío Umbridge hizo lo imposible por joder a los hermanos Crawfords, pero no contaban con tener a un súper millonario hermano (Hayes) que salvara el día.

Great conclusion to a fun, sweet, and sexy series. Madison has a hard shell that Caleb has to slowly crack. She doesn't want to believe the sweet things he's telling her, but he has made his mind up and won't be deterred. He has a straight-laced demeanor, but in the bedroom he unleashes his lust and love for Madison.

The hero is a freakin' virgin and has been in love with the heroine since the 10th grade. But he was cut off by his friend, and the heroine and his friend have been dating ever since and almost got married until the asshole left her. A few years later, the ex suddenly comeback, and the hero offers to fake date to deter the ex, and of course, they get together for real. THE END

It doesn't work as a standalone novella, as it's obviously part of an ongoing series - which I haven't read. The H/h have know each other for years and this steamy insta lust/romance just starts hot and heavy after the heroine gets drunk at a bar. Best to read the other books first. The writing itself was fine.

A quick, fun read with a protective hero who always loved her. He's the town sheriff and has loved her since high school and when her jerk of an ex shows up he's ready to make his move. She's strong, he's protective and these two have great chemistry! Such a fun read.

Loved those Crawford's, sad to see the series end. Loved each and every couple and character.
Loved the pair up of the straight laced Sheriff and Madison in this one....they really did fit together so well.
Again so much of Kat's humor landed in this one....found myself laughing plenty.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
This is the last Crawford siblings book, Madison is the only sister of the 6 siblings. She owns a store in town and has a secret, she is the owner of the towns gossip site. She’s feeling down because her gossip has recently caused some strife and hurt feeling for her brothers and their women. She was just trying to help push them along so they would find their happy ever after. Everything worked out great in the end so maybe they won’t be mad at her? Feeling low she’s doing shots at the local bar, in comes Sheriff Caleb Burton, he’s a by the book kind of guy and he always seems to be where Madison is having a meltdown moment. Why can’t she catch a break?
Caleb has loved Madison since the tenth grade. When she tripped and fell in class he was one of two students who didn’t laugh, unfortunately the other student Jessie got to her first since he was closer. That started their relationship that lead all the way to the alter. It ended when Jessie jilted her on their wedding day.
She has spent years building herself back up and is enjoying her life. Until recently when she thinks she messed up with her family who she loves very much. Caleb takes a tipsy Madison home with him instead of to county drunk tank. At his house things get interesting, Madison for the second time in her life throws herself at Caleb, but he is a very proper gentleman and won’t take advantage of her in her inebriated state. She sees this as a rejection again. The first time was when she found out she was jilted, she was dealing with high emotions so Caleb didn’t take her up on her advances. The next morning when her bestie calls to tell her Jessie is back in town and wants to get back together with her she’s mad. She heads to her shop to confront him. Caleb finally sees his chance with her and is not going to let that worm who jilted her have her back. He comes into the store while she’s telling Jessie off and kisses her. He tells her they should fake date to get rid of him. She reluctantly agrees and that starts their love story.
They go on their first date, it’s a bit awkward but really packs a punch at the end. Jessie shows up causing a scene at the restaurant, Madison punches him in the face and Caleb takes her home to bandage up her knuckles.
This leads to their first time together, she’s only been with Jessie ever and really never enjoyed sex with him. Caleb is a virgin! For him it has always been Madison. He’s had 10 years of pent up love and sexual need that is looking to be released and he realizes he likes to be firm with Madison and she loves it. Lots of praise kink. He’s a very good dirty talker. I love yous and plans for their future.
The plot line of their terrible grandfather and uncle concludes, the grandfather died before they all got married as part of the inheritance clause. The uncle hid the death from them and sold the ranch and its mineral rights to a company. Hayes confesses that he is uber rich and along with his business partner made a shell corporation and bought the ranch and the rights from the uncle. So the ranch is safe from their uncle. Madison also confesses her secret of being the owner of the gossip site and apologizes to her family if anything she wrote hurt them. Her sisters in law are awesome, they all say other have written on the site too and no one was hurt by her gossip.
The gossip site later reports that she and the sheriff eloped to Vegas and got married.
A certain sexy tattoo artist was seen with a blond and Hayes has permanently moved back to town.
Enjoyed the story but would have like more build up of Madison’s feelings for Caleb, it just seem so sudden and didn’t feel as she loved him like he loved her.

Is it finally time for Caleb to claim the ❤️ of his life?
I do NOT consider these to be STAND-ALONE reads. It contains multiple reoccurring characters and an overarching theme. The series features the Crawford siblings that find out about a caveat in the family patriarch’s will that could cause them to lose their birthright if not fulfilled. This caveat requires each of the siblings to be married. Yikes!

I love how Kat Baxter includes good main character descriptions in such short novelettes. The story universe is very well developed and I really, really can’t wait until we have a lot more in Saddle Creek, but I am really looking forward to Zane, who might be my newest crush, just saying … 😁
This is the series finale for the Crawford siblings, although I am hopeful they will have cameos in future spin-off series or their own special event or holiday updates. I absolutely love the surprises in store for Madison when it comes to the sexy sheriff … oh to be able to see the look on her face … 🎶🎵

I love how Kat Baxter includes good main character descriptions in such short novelettes. The story universe is very well developed and I really, really can’t wait until we have a lot more in Saddle Creek, but I am really looking forward to Zane, who might be my newest crush, just saying … 😁
This is the series finale for the Crawford siblings, although I am hopeful they will have cameos in future spin-off series or their own special event or holiday updates. I absolutely love the surprises in store for Madison when it comes to the sexy sheriff … oh to be able to see the look on her face … 🎶🎵

I absolutely love it!! Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read.
Caleb and Madison meet in tenth grade but she fell for the other guy. The other guy left her at the altar but now he’s back. Madison is drinking at the bar flirting with Zane. Caleb gets a call that he needs to come pick up Madison. She confesses she started Scaddle Peek. Caleb takes her to his house because he doesn’t want her to throw her in lock up. She flirts with him but he turns her down, he doesn’t want to take her when she’s drunk. She climbs into his bed, and ask him to sleep next to her. He doesn’t know if he can sleep next to her all night long. He thinks about the other times she’s flirting with him. Madison wakes the next day to realize she’s not in her home. Things from last night come back to her and she realizes she is at Caleb‘s house. She gets out of bed and gets dressed. He takes her back to her car so she can go to work but asked her if he can take her out on a date she says yes. Madison gets ready for their date and Caleb picks her up and brings her daisies. They talk while eating and get to know each other. They go to leave when someone ask Caleb if he has a minute. When he returns to Madison The other guy has his hands on her. Madison and Caleb don’t "stand" but it’s actually a facade so it was nice to see him start flirting with her and winning her heart which wasn’t going wrong because she with all her "hate" just hides that she feels something too. Good thing it’s a short story because everything happens fast and it doesn’t take forever for the protagonists to end up together.
As the synopsis I liked very much I read it and it was when I realized that it is part of a series, it is necessary to read the others because it made mention of several things that happened and that I did not understand but I was making an idea, still I do not think I read them because they do not call my attention.

This one was not my favorite.
I really had a lot of hope for Madison and Caleb's story. I really actually liked Caleb.
He's held on to his crush on Madison for 10 years.
HOWEVER...
Why did he wait 5 years after she was left at the alter to decide to finally make a move?
Now Madison...
ugh again she had me rolling my eyes and shaking my head almost as bad as Harper in the previous book. She was with her fiance...and yet she knew her feelings for him were fading (??) and she was already feeling things for Caleb. She is constantly going on about how much Caleb hates her...and yet isn't she constantly treating him like a bitch all the time too??
Going straight into reading the book, I won't lie. I was really confused. I've read ALL of the other Crawford/Saddle Creek books prior to this one and I don't understand why she was upset and acting like her world was over because she was the creator of the Saddle Peek. Like we get no mention on anyone asking if she was writing it or anyone having any kind of suspision that she was the creator.

We knew it was coming but it did not help one bit! The Crawfords are all matched up now. This book is part of a series but can be enjoyed as a standalone though best if read as a series. It’s finally Madison’s turn! The once jilted bride’s former fiancée is in town, claiming that he wants her back. To “help” her, Sheriff Caleb starts pretending to be in a relationship with her. Madison goes along at first but does question his motives. Caleb’s been in love with Madison since the 10th grade! Madison has admired Caleb but doesn’t believe that she deserves a good and hunky man like him. The unlikely pair make sense together. The steam and action more than proves it!
Kat Baxter is one of my favorite authors. This series has been a highlight of my days. Just reading her books have literally made my day!.

I remember when I said that Hayes (Lone Star Playboy) was my favorite character in the Saddle Creek series - Well, I want you to know that he's been moved down to 2nd place. First place is now at the hands of Caleb Burton, Sheriff McHottie of Saddle Creek.
Madison and Caleb went to HS together and has been in love with Madison since then, but at the time she was the girlfriend of their classmate, Jesse. The same Jesse that left her at the altar 5 years ago. Now Jesse is back, Caleb is making his moves and won’t let Jesse ruin his relationship with Madison. All the while, Madison thinks Caleb doesn’t like her because she is so clumsy and always makes a spectacle of herself. But, dirty-talking Caleb has had his eyes on her since the first moment he saw her and this time he won't let her get away.
Kat Baxter: I want to be included in the Jolly Ranchers group chat! Sounds like I would have a blast reading their conversations!

Me surpreendeu!
Eu confesso que não estava muito animada para ler esse livro, não. Esse lance de ex noivo voltando à cena é o tipo de drama que não curto nos romances. E também não gosto muito quando ele se apaixona primeiro, mas essa história me pegou totalmente de surpresa e não foi nada do que eu temia que seria. Ela foi ótima do começo ao fim. Amei a Madison e o Caleb. Ele esperou por ela por muitos anos, mas quando a oportunidade surgiu, não perdeu mais tempo e foi com tudo. E que homem é esse, meu G-zuiz??? Já se tornou um dos meus mocinhos favoritos da vida! É sempre os quietinhos, né?!
Esse foi o último livro da série e só faltou uma coisa para ser perfeito: um epílogo com passagem real de tempo, pra gente poder ter um vislumbre dos Crawfords no futuro, com seus filhos. Mesmo assim, foi uma série que eu amei acompanhar e mal posso esperar para ler mais histórias de Saddle Creek. Super recomendo!

The sixth book in Kat Baxter's Saddle Creek, TX: The Crawfords series is the best yet. Lone Star Sheriff is Madison's story, the lone girl in a family full of boys - and it is easy to fall in love with the smart, sassy Crawford sister. Sheriff Caleb Burton has felt that way since he and Madison were in high school. Now, with her ex in town, Caleb steps up to pretend to be Madison's boyfriend to get Jessie off her back. Except, neither wants it to be fake. Can the swoon-worthy sheriff and the sassy store-owner finally get out of their own way and admit what the rest of Saddle Creek already knows?
A fantastic, entertaining, steamy-as-sin romance. I'm so sad that the series has come to an end; however, Ms Baxter brought it to a fabulous, fitting enjoyable conclusion.

This is book number 6 of the Saddle Creek, TX: The Crawfords series and focuses on Caleb and Madison. Madison is the last of the Crawford siblings to find their happily ever after with the perfect partner. Caleb had been in love with Madison since 10th grade and when the opportunity arises for him to finally make his woman his, he jumps on it without hesitation. I love how Caleb empowers Madison while also showing her exactly who is the boss. He was such a kind and sweet soul with a huge dirty talking side. This was such a great ending to this series but I’m so excited to see what else we will see in Saddle Creek!

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was an absolutely amazing fake relationship romance. The story took me completely by surprise because I didn’t think that anything would top Johnny and Harper’s story but this one did. From the very beginning I just loved Madison, she was a hot mess in the best of ways. And Caleb wow he was the perfect romance hero, perfect gentleman in public and dirty talking alpha in private. As much as I hated this series to end then this was the perfect way to go. Now if it could only be 2023 soon so I could get my hands on Zane’s story.
