Family is everything…

I always knew my father was a cold, heartless bastard.
But the moment he took Elle Castlemaine and her pathetic daughter into our home, barely a month after our mom died, he unleashed something savage inside me.
I didn’t care they lost their home. Didn’t care their father was behind bars.
Didn’t care he betrayed the notorious Stidda Mafia boss, Benjamin Rossi, and now their lives were in danger.
All I cared about was her.
Ryth.
I wanted to hurt her. Wanted to make her squirm.
I wanted to make her pay for the moans coming from my father’s bedroom.
When he slipped a ring onto her mother’s finger, Ryth became mine.
Mine to bully.
Mine to break.
And I’ll use my brothers to do it.
She’ll become our favorite obsession.
Our sick, tormented game.
She’ll become the only thing I think about, until not thinking about her tears me apart.
I’ll hate her. I’ll hate her so much it hurts…

I blame TikTok for reading this. I hated the main character, for one- her personality is very inconsistent. She goes from being ‘strong’ and angry to being guilty and meek so many times in the span of one paragraph, from being described as headstrong then being submissive, quiet, and without a backbone in the presence of others and her own thoughts too. The lack of actual personality also kind of got me. A lot of things said also contradicted each other- such as her relationship with her mom. From basically saying and showing how close they are to saying they’re practically strangers. Sexual assault too- one of them literally assaults her against her will, and she gets so mad yet doesn’t do anything about it, then goes to say how she liked it and didn’t actually feel any anger/disgust (?) and practically forgets about it, essentially forgiving him. Hated all the characters- their personalities, actions, and just their logic wasn’t likable. (Dnf)

Usually when I read RH books, one tends to stand out more than the others but for the first time.. I am gladly on my knees for all 3 men in this.

As this was my first read from this author, I had no idea what to expect. I was iffy on starting this because the cover is hideous but the blurb got my attention and I instantly knew I had to read this, I am surely not disappointed.

This book was actually really hot and interesting, I did not expect any of it. I loved how the author included an actual good plot along with amazing sex, nowadays many authors fail to include both in an organized and thought out manner. The authors writing was terrific and easy to understand. Now, I’m anxiously waiting for the release of the second book which comes out in May, feels like it’s so long from now. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The forbidden aspect of this made it ten times better. I’m a sucker for forbidden reads so this was everything to me. I love how possessive and protective Tobias, Nick and Caleb are over Ryth. They know what they want and they fight for it.. in this case, it was Ryth. Oh, to be her.

10/5 stars.

Dude this was one delicious stepbrother read. Full of hot and steamy encounters that pushed boundaries and desires! This book will not be for everyone so please heed the trigger warning!

Ryth Castlemaine's life is turned upside down. She only wants to keep her head down, finish HS and move on with her life. Her father is sent to prison, her home is destroyed and icing on the cake... her mom takes them to a home she isn't familiar with, with a man she's never met and he has 3 sons that are gonna want to play once they see her. She just doesn't know the game yet, but she will soon. She is meek and timid... doesn't stand a chance with this family. She needs to find her sass and fast! She's gonna get eaten up.

The Banks brothers. Everyone knows that name. They each have a reputation. The life they knew has been turned upside down after losing their mother so they are all reeling and spiraling.
𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗯, 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀. Holy sheeeessshhhh these three bring it. They are naughty and dirty, not for the faint of heart. Tobias is determined to make Ryth pay. She has no place in his house. She is a nobody and he is willing to do anything to make her see that. He just needs to get his brothers in and then they hell will start. Nick seems to be the protector and peacemaker. Don't let him fool you though. That boy has demons and they want to come out to play. Caleb is the silent and more controlled one. More in the shadows just waiting to pounce.
They are all possessive over their 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 - they want her bad, but want to hate her just as much. Tobias most of all.

Soon they all will realize that the little cat and mouse game they are playing is going to mean so much more. Danger and secrets are at the door just waiting for them to drop their guard. Who will fall and who will be left standing... can't wait for book 2!!! That cliffhanger was brutal!!

i didn’t understand half of the stuff that were going on in this book if i’m being honest lol it was so rushed and very poorly written.

the confusion started right at the beginning where the house is on fire and the dad has been taken by the police like what happened to hello? my name is? like can we get a bit of context?? a bit of background for the characters?

the whole dad situation was so confusing as the story went on like yeah it’s supposed to be mysterious but it just wasn’t well done. i wasn’t intrigued and interested to know what had happened i was just lost and confused.

the main character goes from being a naive and nice girl to acting like an angry, dangerous badass without any reason like just what the fuck was going on😭 don’t get me wrong i love female characters turning all badass and stuff but give us a little character development before that won’t you??

her relationship with her mom was also so weird they barely talk like please the mom literally announced in the SAME conversation that she was divorcing and immediately getting married again lol "i’m getting married! yeah technically i’m already married but i just got the papers to divorced your dad who is in prison" like???

now the 3 brothers… lol three grown ass men and still not one who understands what the words "no" and "consent" mean. those characters also were confusing asf like were they in a gang or are they just bad boys? you don’t know because NOTHING is explained in this damn book NOTHING.

also someone please get a dictionary for these boys cause the amount of times they repeated "goddamn" and "fucking" in this book… i swear it was just funny at some point like goddamn this goddamn that WE GET IT

the end was also so so confusing like her mom letting the mc be kidnapped by the « Order » like who is that what the HELL is going on lmao??

DNF.. where did all the 5 stars come from??

Sorry, I usually love this trope and was excited by all the good reviews but I can’t for the life of me figure out where they came from. The story progression make no sense. The FMC is weak minded and just strange, to be honest. Her actions make no sense, and neither do any of the guy’s. There are 2 scenes where they pretty much force her to act in a sexual manner and have no other interaction with her, but in the next chapter her inner monologue says she’s “falling for them??” WTF. I’m fine with dubcon when it’s written well, but this was no good. Additionally, what do any of these characters look like?? There’s no description for anyone other than her supposedly having some hideous birthmark on her cheek and everyone else is just “tall and hot!” Ok but what do they (or her, even) look like? Anyways, just bad writing all around from my POV. Couldn’t get past the dialogue either. One of the brothers: “Now you listen here, she’s mine now!” He says to the other brother. Who says “now you listen here??” When they’re supposed to be 20-something? Oy vey!!

Spicy taboo bully style why-choose romance! Rainy Sundays call for binge reading. It was a fun, easy read, bully romance. Kept me flipping the pages, and the cliffhanger left me with a lot of questions, so I'm probably jumping into book two soon!

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THIS AS A WATTPAD STORY?!?!?!
The book was super rushed. Not much background into the characters. No build up to their relationships. I was so confused half of the time because of the pace the book moved. I'm all for spicy scenes but even these felt rushed and basic.. I dont know I personally felt like this was a Wattpad story. It has sooooo much potential but just not well written for me personally.

Fierce Little Mouse

WOW! Hot and steamy, taboo, intense, sweet, and so MESSED UP! Seriously. It was like a train wreck that I simply couldn't pull my eyes or ears away from! The prologue sucked me in and wouldn't let go.

Ryth's world is turned upside down and then shaken hard for good measure. Her dad is in prison under suspicious circumstances. Her mother, Elle, is... a piece of work, who quickly shacks up with an old college friend, Creed, and his three grown sons, Caleb, Nick, and Tobias.

I don't want to give anything away, but if you've read the blurb, you know that lines are crossed with her soon-to-be stepbrothers. It's wild, hot, and... yeah. 💥🔥💥

“You need to be careful now, Ryth. Don’t you know, locking the bathroom door is a must when you live on the same floor with three insatiable men.”
-- Tobias Banks

OK, so this is one thing that kinda drove me crazy. How is it that a mansion only has one bathroom on the floor containing the bulk of the bedrooms? Possible? Sure. Likely? No.

I received an author's copy of the audio book to accompany my book. The narrators are Jack Calihan and Ana Cole. I've listened to and liked Jack before. Ana was a new voice for me and I like her.

Story: 5 stars
Narration: 4 stars
Listening Speed: 1.8x

BTW - that bonus scene? Totally HOT and highly recommended.

Not even a little bit good.
There is no substance to all the anger and growling going on. Not even great voice narrators were able to save this book.
All the groping in the first half of the book felt so random. There is no build up to it. All 3 brother are incredibly immature, getting angry for no reason at all. It was exhausting to listen the parts about them. It got boring pretty quickly.
DNF at 60%.

who the heck is Logan

I’m actually kind of bummed. This started out so strong and then it was like a rock rolling down hill that couldn’t be stopped. First off, there’s some Logan dude mentioned like 3 times with no explanation and I’m kind of convinced it was Lazarus original name that just hasn’t been replaced in edits. Second, the weird mafia/secret society vibes with no background. It’s all kept a mystery and it’s kind of confusing. I bet if I keep reading all will be revealed, but the weird ending left me no desire to continue. I don’t know maybe I’ll try again another day, but everything about this was just odd. Like the author’s writing is almost there, but not quite yet.

Bloody hell!! I didnt think step-sibling books were my thing but after reading this book hell yeah count me in. Be warned though not all the content in this book will be for everyone.

Mine takes a loving family to a new level when Ryth and her mother end up living with Creed (a friend of her mothers) and his 3 sons (Tobias, Nick and Caleb). A fact that his son Tobias hates and makes it his mission to get rid of them. Only for a steamy game to start between him, Ryth and his brothers.

This book surprised me because it didnt go the way that id assumed it would. I cant give away any spoilers as it would give away a lot of the plot. I really liked the relationship/dynamic they all had. The fast paced tension, plot twists and turns keep you on your toes. Plenty of steamy scenarios too. All of it ending with one hell of a cliffhanger ending. A brilliant start to this series and a cracking read too

Ryth Castlemaine's life is turned upside down with the arrest of her father (off "screen," before the story even officially starts), and her and her mother losing their home to a mysterious fire. Her mother, Elle, turns to an old college friend, Creed Banks, for a temporary shelter, which becomes a long-term arrangement when Elle and Creed decide to get married (after Elle divorces Ruth's father).

When Ryth and Elle move into Creed's house for the first time, it unleashes the wrath of Creed's youngest son, Tobias, who resents them for coming into his life, particularly Ryth, whom he instantly has the hots for. Caleb (oldest son), Nick (middle boy), and Tobias have just lost their mother, Naomi, to her fight with cancer; she has been buried for about a month when Elle and Ryth move in, with Elle and Creed entering a sexual relationship and proceeding to get married soon afterwards. The boys and Ryth aren't happy with the arrangement, and what follows is a taboo and "dark" story as the brothers decide to pursue and possess Ryth sexually and dominatingly.

Book ends on a cliffhanger, with a 2nd part coming out. Contains triggers such as

Hmm, storyline had so much promise, but writing and characterization fall flat. Writing could have been better, but it isn't the worst I've ever read, to be fair. It just doesn't resonate with me, especially some of the events happening in the story and some of the characters and their actions. The author has potential, but there are improvements much needed.

She sets her characters apart from one another, and you can at least distinguish the three main male leads' personalities, but the problem is that she isn't consistent in her writing and some of the characters. Feels like she started them out as one way, but ended them differently. Biggest examples are Ryth, Elle, and Creed.

Have to say, I don't like Ryth, the female main character. She's the perfect example "Hot-n-Cold." She's supposed to be "sweet," according to Nick, but there is nothing sweet about her. She'd be resentful of Creed one moment, then the next, she would feel guilty for no reason, completely out of the blue, literally (even with author's explanation of her feelings). Apparently she loves her mom, but a couple chapters later, author writes that she and her mother have never been close or see eye-to-eye; Elle is like a stranger to her. HUH?! Which is it? She tries to talk to her male "friend" at school, then with him ignoring her for good reasons, she yells at him suddenly, demanding him to look at her in the eye. She sasses the male leads, but ends up fearing, apologizing, and submitting to them as soon as they whip out their male parts. There's more about her, but she is just inconsistent.

And honestly, sorry to say, but she's an easy girl. One look at Nick and Tobias, and she's masturbating to the thought of them. She's a virgin, but she comes off slutty. She's supposed to be strong and a fighter, but not once does she really try to resist and fight them, even when she knows they are about to be step-siblings. Ugh, I just don't like her, for she isn't likable or admirable, but...at least, she's only a slut to the male leads.

As for Elle, there's two references of her being attracted to her step-sons, so...yeah, I'm not liking her, either.

There are what I consider stupid actions or bad writing in this book, but again, the author does have potential. Storyline isn't too bad, but if written better and with good characterization, things would flow more. If you're into taboo, "dark," and forbidden stories, then this book is for you. I'd like to read book 2 to see where the plot goes, but I have a feeling I'm not going to remember much of the characters or story, except that I don't like Ryth. Love her name though. Three stars for the book, and here's to hoping book 2 will be the end and better.

My first taboo romance (Step-Siblings). I mean, I enjoyed it, but I feel like there was something missing. I really liked the boy's (Caleb, Tobias & Nick). The last 20% were a little rushed and a little predictable, but like a said, for a taboo why choose, it was a fun time.

Tobias’ obsession with Ryth (how do you pronounce this?) was excellent, and while I appreciated the quick slide into smut, I would have enjoyed this more if the side plot with her dad in prison, and how her mom knows Creed in college was given some more intriguing scenes. Smut would have benefited from a stronger plot. I started skimming the smut because I was more interested in finding out what was going on.

Impressions …

Entertaining, steamy, some mystery. Best parts were the OW drama, the sex, and the cliffhanger. Not a dark read. Character development had some issues, particularly with consistency in role. Not that one can’t change, but some changes were complete 180 degrees, just unlikely. There was a plot flaw in that the Ruth loved her mother, thought she was a nice person — and she acted nicely, but then the mother acted coldly, and Ruth said they we’re never close. Huh? Also, the h didn’t resonate with me. She was … likable but not. There was just something off in the writing. A lot of chatter around calling each other brother and sister even before the parents married. I get the taboo of it, but it was repeated so often. Stylistically a bit of a fast burn, which I liked. It strangely slowed down in the end, however, and picked up at the cliffhanger. Overall I enjoyed it though.

I couldn’t understand the main character. It was like at first she was meant to be written as strong but never stood up for herself. I couldn’t get over how the step brothers kept stressing that she was their little sister and family. Felt gross. I couldn’t keep reading. One star because the smut was decent.

What. The FMCs personality was different each chapter which was annoying.

The "spicy" scenes were 90% of the time borderline rape that is was disgusting.

Not continuing he series even tho it ended on cliffhanger.

This whole world is a delicious masterpiece. Ryth got herself 3 new stepbrothers, and my goodness each of them has me down on my knees. I understand why no one picks in a why choose. 3 hot men taking what they want from you? And you wanna give it to them? Might as well.
The whole book has kept me in a chokehold, but the ending really has me begging for more.

"You might wear our brand on the outside, but we wear it in our chests. Believe me. Name your goddamn demands.
Whatever they are, they're yours, little sister."
Oh my fucking god I am HOOKED.
The Banks brothers have me wrapped round their little finger… lord have mercy they are something else 🔥
Creed and Elle are pieces of shit… I knew something was off about their ‘marriage’. The lies, the blood, the alcohol. It all smelt of bullshit.
Ryth is a fucking bad ass and I love how strong she is. She won’t ever stop fighting for her dad. I literally cheered when she grew a back bone and stood up against the bullies. No matter what shit is thrown at her, she doesn’t give up.
Absolutely bloody incredible.
