Book 2 in the Dempsey Sisters series did not disappoint.
It follows on neatly from Gabrielle & Phoenix’s story, with enough back story to fill in the blanks for new readers.
Elizabeth Dempsey’s first meeting with River Alston is enough for her to know that he’s a player, and much as she is attracted to him, knows that if she was to be involved with him, he would break her heart. So begins their “will they, won’t they” story.
Elizabeth & River agree to be best friends to each other, and all bets are on that they will become “Friends to Lovers”
The Dempsey, West, and Alston families are all related through marriage, and, because the majority live in Winter Falls, Colorado, that is where the action is. They do not hesitate to stick their noses into each other’s business, along with the townspeople of Winter Falls.
I really enjoyed how the townspeople play their part in this story, as they are quirky and unpredictable, as well as entertaining, warm and familiar.
All the characters are well drawn, and they continue to hold my interest.
I found this to be an emotional rollercoaster of a story, with laugh out loud moments, along with the angst. It led nicely into the next book, the only down side to which is the wait I will have to endure before it is published.
I received an Advance Review Copy of this book, and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
